The Future-Tech Market Index Thread [O.O.C]

Introduction

Welcome, one and all, to the newly reborn Future-Tech Market Index, a resource for the Future-Tech community. The Index is a repository; of lists of forbidden exports, welcome imports, of the movers and shakers of the great wheels of commerce in your nations, and a place to share the fruits of your imagination in setting up communal roleplaying settings in keeping with the well-known setting threads of Future-Tech.

You may well be wondering to yourself at this point, just what is the Future-Tech Market Index? The answer is both vague and comprehensive, with multiple suggestions for use, and some of these are presented below.

• It is a holding ground for information on the main/most important imports and exports in commodities and other goods of the various participating nations from the Future-Tech community. This is to help players find various areas where they can forge partnerships and roleplays involving the use of certain industrial sectors rather than, or in addition to, the rather stereotypical conflict/diplomacy based roleplays.

• It is a place where people can list main trading ports and open them up for use as communal settings in the vein of Losieda, Liu Xiu and Portus Altus, and to help bring these together in one centralised location to avoid the old problem of scrambling through the pages of the International Incidents Sub-forum.

• It will act as a repository for whatever information participants choose to submit on notable people or organisations of commercial origin or involvement, be they billionaire CEO's to noticeably corrupted customs patrols, to encourage more world-building in an area that historically has seen little use in the Future-Tech community.

Application Templates

With the kind permission of Morningstar Coalition, the Future-Tech Market Index has revived the original application form for the now sadly-defunct FT National Import/Export Dex, now found below.

Stable - This indicates that local supplies are just sufficient for local demand. Imports or exports are minimal, and based on situation.
Consumption - This indicates this item is highly desired. Imports of this item are common, regardless of local supplies.
Deficit - This indicates that local supply is vastly insufficient to meet local demands, creating an urgent need for imports.
Underlined items indicate a product or service which is heavily restricted, requires licensing, or a permit for local use, possession, execution, etc.
[strike]Struck[/strike] items indicate a product or service is banned from imports/exports, and may be illegal in this nation. Illegal or banned items may still have a local demand, but smugglers may face penalties if caught.

The Rules

There are very few of these, but I do ask that writers who submit any applications follow them;
• When submitting applications, please contain those applications to one single post so as to avoid duplication of links to the Member's Directory.
• Please do not alter the application templates beyond filling them in. If you have any recommendations to improve the templates, telegrams are happily accepted on that subject.

And with that, I bid you all welcome to the Index!

Import/Export Application
<The Phanes Republic>

Economic Policy Summary: The Republic as a government entity is virtually totally uninvolved with the domestic economy beyond where it impacts on government departments such as law enforcement, education, and the military. Individual businesses are encouraged with tax cuts, and competition for contracts, both public and private, is fierce.

Colour-codes indicate the levels of import (demand)/export (supply) for a product; such should indicate the demand for importation and the ability to export:
Ignored - This indicates this nation has no interest in import or export of this item.
Surplus - This indicates very high levels of local supply, creating very little local demand. This item is regularly exported.
Struck items indicate a product or service is banned from imports/exports, and may be illegal in this nation. Illegal or banned items may still have a local demand, but smugglers may face penalties if caught.

Import/Export Application
Serukta Sehkrisaal
(Image, Sacral Empire of the Second Children of the Light)

Economic Policy Summary: The Sacral Empire operates under a generally "neo-mercantilist" series of economic policies, placing emphasis only on the importation of raw materials and goods/services which otherwise cannot be produced or generated domestically, the utilization of quasi-protectionist tariffs against the importation of completed goods or raw materials/commodities which can be produced or generated domestically, emphasis on the purchase and usage of domestically produced or generated products and services, with exportation focusing chiefly on the shipment and transfer of completed goods over raw materials (excluding certain refined or "commoditized" products).

Color-codes indicate the levels of import (demand)/export (supply) for a product; such should indicate the demand for importation and the ability to export:
Ignored - This indicates this nation has no interest in import or export of this item.
Surplus - This indicates very high levels of local supply, creating very little local demand. This item is regularly exported.
Struck items indicate a product or service is banned from imports/exports, and may be illegal in this nation. Illegal or banned items may still have a local demand, but smugglers may face penalties if caught.

Import/Export Application
<The Amaranthine Imperium>

Economic Policy Summary:The Amaranthine Imperium is a market-oriented materially hyper-abundant society with replication abilities. As such, general manufacturing and basic services are not in high demand. Market demand is therefore concentrated in custom services, "narrative" goods (goods with a story), goods constructed with "Grochek" elements (odd, potentially supernatural elements that are not replicable), or goods requiring the passage of time to produce. This also means that, due to their nature, the demand for the raw elements is incredibly high, but somewhat reduced for already manufactured goods. For diplomatic and philosophical reasons, exporting is generally discouraged - albeit not banned by government policy in general - except in cases of mutual trade of goods (as opposed to purchasing with currency).

Struck items indicate a product or service is banned from imports/exports, and may be illegal in this nation. Illegal or banned items may still have a local demand, but smugglers may face penalties if caught.

Import/Export Application
Interstellar Consortium of Avlana

Economic Policy Summary: The Interstellar Consortium economy is focused towards being self sustaining, it has high import tariffs as well as bans on certain items, this is to ensure there is slightly less competition amongst the various Merchant Houses as well as keeping the cost of labor higher for the Labor Houses. Anything the Consortium has in surplus is exported with the exception of anything related to national security. The Consortium also attempts to stockpile any raw materials it can. There is high demand for foreign luxury goods however the market is heavily regulated so there is a prominent black market for most foreign luxury goods. Due to the political clout of the Merchant Houses and the Labor Houses, development on new technologies is focused more towards development instead of innovation and inventing new ones for the most part, however foreign inventions are highly sought after by the various Science Houses, however the practice is heavily regulated the Council of the Consortium.

Colour-codes indicate the levels of import (demand)/export (supply) for a product; such should indicate the demand for importation and the ability to export:

Import/Export Application
The Intergalactic Empire of Stormwrath

Economic Policy Summary: Stormwrath has a mixed capitalist economy, with high emphasis on manufacturing and technological advancement. Even though it is a major trading power, it is largely self-sustainable. Due to the advent of replication technology, production has soared, and Stormwrath increasingly exported to other space faring nations, despite being still a heavy importer. Tariffs are used in certain commodities, though they may be gradually reduced in the near future.

Import/Export Application
The Primareliqua

Economic Policy Summary: The Primareliqua operates under a a pseudo-technocratic government, which facilitates an economic paradigm governed by 'balance'. All needs that can be met internally are kept internal, with excess stores utilized as a surplus for the state. This heavily self-reliant economic outlook has only recently begun to shift in the last century, as the Reliquai government begins to broach commercial trade with foreign civilizations and races. The creation of Portus Altus to serve as a galactic marketplace symbolizes this shift towards a more open policy to foreign trade. However, most trade is still heavily regulated by the Reliquai government.

Struck items indicate a product or service is banned from imports/exports, and may be illegal in this nation. Illegal or banned items may still have a local demand, but smugglers may face penalties if caught.

Import/Export Application
Imperial and Federal Union of States

Economic Policy Summary: The economy of the Imperial & Federal Union of States (R.u.B Union) can be summarised as neo-colonial mercantilist. The R.u.B Union can be divided into fairly clear metropole and periphery regions. The metropole of the R.u.B Union is often defined as the Crownworlds combined with the Enlisian Mark and the Nakabe Prefecture, although some Imperial economists define the metropole as the entire area linked together by the Ostwall Loop trade lane, along with Nakabe. This region focuses heavily on capital and consumer manufacturing, financial services, electronics, and other forms of information technology. The periphery makes up the majority of the rest of the R.u.B Union, including the majority of the Palatinate, Reichswald, the Farlights, Valtelline, and the other worlds of the Lusatian Veil. The peripheral regions are much more heavily focused on extraction of resources mineral and agricultural, along with the processing of those resources for shipment to the metropole. The peripheral worlds can vary dramatically, with some developing fairly diversified economies, while others are little more than glorified mining colonies. Most R.u.B merchant traffic is dedicated to trade between the metropole and peripheral regions, exchanging resources from the periphery for finished and luxury goods in the metropole.

The R.u.B Union operates with a relatively decentralised role of the central government in terms of both monetary and fiscal policy. Direct taxes are only levelled on Imperial Crownlands, which--along with taxes and tolls at various merchant ports--provide the primary sources of fiscal policy that the R.u.B government can rely on directly. Imperial member states and noble estates have much deeper power over their own local economies, but the amount any individual noble or member state government holds can vary wildly. While the R.u.B government can try to incentivise member states and nobles to pursue certain fiscal goals, these tools lack finesse, and are often hard bought in terms of concessions and legal skirmishes. R.u.B monetary policy, on the other hand, is complete chaos. A common privilege granted to member states is the right to mint one’s own currency, and what such rights have bought in loyalty, they have cost in the lack of the R.u.B Bank to fully regulate the flow of the economy.

Import/Export Application
The Community of Perditan

Economic Policy Summary: The Community of Perditan is generally an isolationist state, but limited interest in cultural or consumer goods makes some trade possible. Generally, the Community maintains a strict resource-balance as a result of economic planning; thus natural and artificial resources necessary for most areas of life are well-balanced in terms of local production and use.

Import/Export Application
The Solar Cooperative Union

Economic Policy Summary: Corporations are the economic and political backbone of the SCU, with most worlds belonging to mega-conglomerates with millions of employees and trillions of Hexacredits in annual revenue. The regulations on trade are set by the representatives of the larger companies who meet on Tauris for the annual Consortium, where they set industry standards and quotas for the next solar year. Thanks to the SCU's strong middle class the markets enjoy a massive consumer base. This means that most revenue comes from within the borders of the SCU, with exports taking a secondary role to domestic sales.

Struck items indicate a product or service is banned from imports/exports, and may be illegal in this nation. Illegal or banned items may still have a local demand, but smugglers may face penalties if caught.

Import/Export Application
The Merchant-Republic of Valsenar.

Economic Policy Summary: As a Merchant-Republic, Valsenar operates on a model of lasseiz-faire capitalism taken to the greatest extreme. Everything and anything is for sale, in theory, from an hour's work to a full-body genetic modification. In the interest of maintaining the independence of their relatively small, weak nation, the ruling Board of Executives ensures that military industries, as well as productions which are illegal throughout most of the galaxy, are made non-profitable in the public market. Valsenar's major import is decommissioned and salvaged spacecraft, which are broken up into constituent parts and base materials, which are then either reused or recycled. Major exports are diverse, but can be broadly defined as anything which can be mass-produced from metals or plastics at orbital fabricators, from tableware to freighters.

Struck items indicate a product or service is banned from imports/exports, and may be illegal in this nation. Illegal or banned items may still have a local demand, but smugglers may face penalties if caught.

Import/Export Application
<Fashie>

Economic Policy Summary: As a newly found, and highly populated country of hight tech foreigners, Fashie is found with tones and tones of pretty much every basic resource known to the market. The government really focuses on the Economy, and helps small businesses. It encourages small business, and has a very low tax rate. However, almost all businesses are non-profit organizations, and give excess money to the government, so all fields of need are covered. The Fashie Dollar Unit(FDU) is worth 0.103 USD's, leaving many people getting exports very happy. Note, stable-or green means lots of import and export, not minimal.

Struck items indicate a product or service is banned from imports/exports, and may be illegal in this nation. Illegal or banned items may still have a local demand, but smugglers may face penalties if caught.

Import/Export Application
Bearian Union

Economic Policy Summary: The Bearian Union is a corporatist economy where the government has heavy influence on the economy. Focused on economic growth, expansion and the enlargement of the military; The Bearian Union has put up high emphasis on supporting itself by protecting emerging industries. Trade is not uncommon, though. Certain technologies which the Union cannot fabricate must be imported and there is always a demand for more exotic commodities. Tariffs are not uncommon however they are usually at a reasonable level .

Struck items indicate a product or service is banned from imports/exports, and may be illegal in this nation. Illegal or banned items may still have a local demand, but smugglers may face penalties if caught.
