I need a good drawing program

Like the title says, I need a good drawing program for making maps, weapons, vehicles etc. What do you suggest? (Doesn't have to be freeware)

I use Paint Shop Pro X for stuff like flags, and a Japanese freeware program called DoGA CGA System for my 3-D renders of weapons and vehicles and so on. I've heard good stuff about GIMP as a good free alternative to Photoshop, but personally found the user interface to be atrocious.

I hear good things about Inkscape. I've used it before, and it's pretty neat. I would use it now, but this computer hates GTK, so the GUI is fubar.

Really, depending on your experience level, MSPaint is all you really need... unless you want special effects. Most maps are simply pixelled, though, and MSPaint is surprisingly one of the better programs out there for pixel art.
