Doubts

Postby Terra Equestor » Sat Aug 15, 2015 5:00 pm

[/quote
After this response from young Justinian, Segentasse chuckled quietly, surely recalling the days when he, too, had been so insecure.
Dear Lad, don't discourage yourself like this! There is really no need for it. If Jason and Alexandros thought you are the right person to teach Markos, then let me tell you that they are surely correct.
I have great faith in you, and be sure that you will start being more secure in no time!

With an amiable pat on Justinian's back, Segentasse finished up.[/quote]
How can I? Illryia is in turmoil, what if...what if I prepare him for a Kingdom that's no longer there? What if we teach him everything we know and he becomes all that we hope for, only for Illyria to cease to exist...?

News from our Kingdom, Year 1073

MACEDONIAN VISITORS
King Jason and old Alexandros have now left our Kingdom, from the city of Marnier. Young Justinian and Segentasse, though, have remained. They are now reaching our capital city of Caen, where Justinian will meet King Clyde and they will start talking about Markos.

YOUNG ROYAL FAMILY
Markos is growing up splendidly. At the small age of 1, he is already strong, and his parents are eagerly waiting to see how this precious heir to the throne grows up.
Prince Paul has spoken about him:
Markos is everyday changing. Seeing him so strong and secure in these early stages of his life makes me feel highly positive about his future. I am sure he will grow up to be a fair monarch for Tyr-Basiliscus and Illyria!

ILLYRIA
The reign of King Eugeníe I and Queen Erika I in Illyria is, too, going wonderfully. After the turmoil of the past years in those lands, the two young monarchs are reigning with a stable hand and all is going back to normal. Rumors are saying that Erika may be pregnant, but it yet has to be confirmed. We will keep you informed.

CULTURE COMING TO LIFE
Marnier, finally, has come to life in its full regal majesty and splendor. This cultural city, made to turn our Kingdom into one of the most literate and culturally advanced of the Known World, is being "besieged" by our citizens, who are eager of seeing it.

Julius Combats barbarians!

During the king's march from Lincolnshire, he initially met little resistance. By the time he reached the town of York, only 189 soldiers had died of dysentery, a remarkable number. Yet, by the time he began to see the town of York, barbarians were ready. Julius's Lincolnshire Division was ready. About 15,000 Barbarians were ready, yet, they seemed much more well-armed and armored then previous savages. Verdmontians were ready, and were deployed in a simple way, like this:

  • Elite Soldiers on the right flank
  • Spearmen and pike troops on the left flank
  • Standard and weakest troops in the centre
  • Archers and cavalry in reserve

This organization made it impossible for the savages to attack our flanks, so they were pushed into the centre, suffering heavy losses. This allowed for the final step of the plan, a cavalry attack, which devastated the savages, murdering all of them.

When the battle finished Julius congratulated his men and captured the town of York. Currently, he is moving through all of North Yorkshire at record speeds.

NEW ALLIANCE FORGED!
Our King, Clyde I, and the leader of La Royaume de Francais have met earlier today.
We are all very pleased to announce that, now, we are their allies!
The French Union, both economic and militaristic, was made by these two Kingdoms to preserve the peace in France, to strengthen each other, and to create new trade routes.
Sadly, the alliance with Sanctum Imperium Populi Romani had to be disbanded, as Le Royaume de Francais asked this. On the other hand, we are now sure that they shan't attack us!

ALL HAIL THE FRENCH UNION!

Border with Scotland reached!

The 40,000 men force of Julius has finally reached the wall of Antonius, the leader of a once great empire. Antonius, a legend states, built a massive wall to separate the civilized world of his empire from the savages of the Scots. When the wall was reached, many were amazed that all of England had been united, and that it had taken the reign of only two kings to do so. Julius has not stated what he plans to do about the wall, although there is some speculation that he might rebuild it. We will keep you informed.

Prussia Expands further into Germany!

Prussia takes Northern Germany!

Prussia's colonial, military, and diplomatic actions effectively now allow them control of the entirety of Northern Germany, effectively making them the geo-political centre of Europa. Expansions have also been made in Poland and the Baltics.

Sad Days For the Kingdom

Two great men in our Kingdom have left us. Young General Maxime Saint-Rabiot, leader of the second greatest of our divisions, was killed in his bedchamber, now authorities are investigating on the case.
The second death was that of the illustrious First Admiral Charles de la Maison. He died during a Navy Parade, probably due to the fever he had lately. His doctors had told him to remain at home, but his wish was to see his men one last time.
The funerals of the two men will be in one month's time. We kindly ask other nations to send a man for moral support.
We will keep you informed.

TECHNOLOGIES IN ADVANCEMENT!

These are very busy days for both the scholars of Marnier and the broad-shouldered workers of outern Rouen.
Our physician, François Mil Simmeron, and some of his colleagues have done a scientifical breakthrough! Studying the movement of comets and other space bodies from our Astronomy Center, they have gained great insight and bettered formulas on gravity. The excited Mil Simmeron, after days of painstaking work, talked to us:
It is Eureka! The great Lord, surely, has helped us, as our luck in having so many planets and stars in the correct points at the correct time helped us a great deal.
With what we have learned, now, new artillery pieces of types such as onagers and ballistas and anything else will be reasonably bettered, making them more accurate.
Apart from all this, with these new calculations and with the updated formulas, us and our colleagues in Normandie are starting work on a new weapon, but we cannot talk about that.

All across the main cities of our Kingdom, men are starting work on bettering our already state-of-the-art artillery pieces. For the sieges which in the recent future will certainly come up, these fearsome machines will be a great advantage for us.

After hours of closely inspecting celestial bodies, Monsieur Mil Simmeron updates formulas: Image

Tyr-Basiliscusian Military Forces March South!

It is time to further expand our lands. Our leaders, after few years of relative peace, have decided that the Franks to our South have grown into too great a threat, and they must be destroyed.
100,000 men, General Alfred's division, together with 50 galleys and hundreds of artillery pieces are now reaching the region known as Pays-de-la-Loire, and the fighting is predicted to start soon.
Even Prince Paul and 5,000 men from his division have reached the ace. The young heir to the throne, eager for experience, is ready for the fighting to begin.

News from Tyr-Basiliscus, Year 1076

PAYS-DE-LA-LOIRE
Our 100,000 men are now deep into this region. They have divided into five groups of 20,000 men which are advancing on different routes.
Groups B and C, attacked by an enemy cavalry and infantry unit of 15,000 men, have united and are now in combat against that unit.
The remaining units are advancing and Group A, led by Commander Alfred and Prince Paul, are reaching the citadel of Murudum. They are expecting 20-25,000 barbarians waiting for them, but the journey is still long.
Group D, of other 25,000 men, is securing Pays-de-la-Loire's eastern borders, so that no different tribes will try entering.
Casualties are down to 7,344 for now.
We will keep you informed.

Warfare in Pays-de-la-Loire: Image

TECHNOLOGIES
The work on new artillery pieces in Bretagne and Normandie is continuing. 80 brand new onagers, ballistas and battering rams are reaching the forces in Pays-de-la-Loire and there, certainly, they will be put to good use by our capable artillerists.
Scholars in Marnier are close to finishing their new weapon, says one of our contacts in the cultural city, but not even he can tell us what it is. Still, we are promised that it will be of great help in future sieges.

ROYAL CHILDREN
Markos, now 3 years old, is becoming a terrific little child; curious, strong, benevolent and intelligent. Princess Andromeda, now that her husband is away, has had to hire many maidens, just to help her look after the precious little boy.
Still, from faraway Illyria, we are reached by other merry news. Queen Erika I is pregnant! The news have been given by King Eugeníe de Rouge, who said:
She is, she is pregnant! I am going to have a child! These are great news for Illyria, and for the whole of Tyr-Basiliscus!

JOURNEY TO VERDMONTIA
King Clyde himself, together with the renowned diplomat Jacques De Bramant, 800 High Guards and 500 High Knights are journeying to The Kingdom of Verdmontia, over the Channel, to meet their King Julius.
King Clyde has said:
In the past, these two kingdoms were great allies and friends.
Then, because of war threats, the alliance was broken, and now Verdmontia wishes to close all contacts with us.
Still, I am here to admit that it was our mistake, and that our kingdom acted in the wordt way possible in that case. I give my most humble excuses to King Julius of Verdmontia, hoping that our two Kingdoms may go back to their former alliance.

This group, now reaching Great Britain, hopes for a positive response from Julius.

Prussia marches South

Prussian forces march South to claim the last of Germany, Czechslovakia and Poland, to finally establish dominion over Greater Germany, as such they have begun to seize Austria in competition with Sanctum Romus, with the local tribesmen there flocking to support Prussia as their national and cultural brothers, bearing them in higher esteem than the Italians to the South.

NEWS FROM OUR KINGDOM

King Clyde, at the age of 59, has passed away due to a tuberculosis epidemic. The new King is Paul, his eldest son, and the funeral is planned to be in a month's time.
King Paul hopes that Monarchs from other Kingdoms will be present.

The region of Pays-de-la-Loire has been taken! After several victories by General Alfred's 100,000 men in the north and the center of this region, local Barbarian King Arris of Loire has surrendered and the treaty was signed in the City of Nantes.
Pays-de-la-Loire is now of Tyr-Basiliscus!

The secret weapon developed by Marnier scholars is now finished, and the models have been passed over to workers in Normandie who will actually make it.
Mathematician Sammarion has talked about it:
So, this weapon is made up of a long iron pole in vertical position, protruding from a ground platform, having on the top a flat wooden board in horizontal position. On the two ends of the board, wooden balls are placed, and are thrown to the enemy using a mechanism similar to that of a sling, but much more accurate. These balls, on impact, break, and the "insides", made up of shards of glass, iron and wood come flying out due to an internal spring mechanism, thus hurting or even killing men in a wider area.

Postby The Duchy of Prussia » Thu Aug 20, 2015 12:31 pm

Gustav Rides to attend King Clyde the late's Funeral.

With great sorrow in his heart, King Gustav spoke

A great man has left the world, but we may thank the great and gracious God for granting him a fruitful life, and I trust wholly in Paul to lead his Father's kingdom on many more fruitful days.

King Julius rides to the funeral

When King Julius heard of Clyde's death, he was deeply troubled in many ways. The loss of such a bold French king was one. Julius arrived at the ceremony a little bit early, and several tears fell from his eyes when he was there.

Never has the world shook so much, for the most competent of kings has befallen

Royal Births, but Death of Queen

Three new children are born into the de Rouge bloodline. One for King Eugeníe of Illyria, and two for King Paul.
Sadly, giving birth to the twins, Queen Andromeda, wife of Paul, died. Still, before dying, she saw one last time her husband, her two new children and Markos.
The Illyrian king said:
My daughter shall be called Frances. Frances de Rouge! She is a beautiful blonde girl, like her mother.

Whilst Paul said:
I truly don't know, if this day is happy or sorrowful. Andromeda was a strong woman, I really didn't expect... this.
Still, as her last great act, she has brought to life these two wonderful twins! A girl and a boy. They are destined for greatness. Their names will be Clyde, for my father, and Andromeda... you know for who.

So, yes, this is a happy for our Kingdom. Still, it is stained of sorrow for the premature death of Queen Andromeda.
