STELLAD is an acronym that stands for the Stealth Tracking Effective Low Level Air Defence (STELLAD) system.
It was designed to improve the performance of man-portable shoulder-launched Fire & Forget (F&F) missiles, thereby enhancing the operational capability of these missiles and it is small enough to be mounted in the bed of a pickup truck!
By using a Low Probability of Intercept (LPI) radar sensor which is difficult to detect, combined with a Command & Control system, the clandestine operational deployment of F&F missiles can be enhanced.
Through suitable early warning, distance to target and flight path information, the optimum utilization of the missile can be achieved.
The STELLAD system can operate in 2 modes.
MODE 1: Stealth Seeker (effective 360° early detection and directional information at a range of 28km using a nearly undetectable low L wave radar.)
MODE 2: Low Probability of Intercept (effective 360° early detection distance to target and flight path information at a range of 18km using a Low Probability of Intercept (LPI) radar sensor which is very difficult to detect)

The STELLAD system was designed to cost-effectively provide these capabilities.

Helicopters

The Helicopter is an integral part of the modern battlefield, it is used extencively in combat but also for transportation of men and equipment also in a variety of reconnaissance and support roles

Image
Attack Helicopter

Thunberg Dynamics has applied it's decades of helicopter experience in the harsh Thunbergian Deserts and varying mountain environments, the Rooivalk has been designed to operate for prolonged periods without sophisticated support or extencive ground crews.
All that is needed to keep the Rooivalk flying is a medium transport helicopter equipped with a basic spares supply plus four groundcrew to fuel and arm it between missions.
The Rooivalk carries a range of weapons depending on the mission profile. It is generally fitted with a nose-mounted 20 mm cannon and can also carry air-to-air missiles, anti-armour missiles and unguided rockets, all developed by Thunberg Dynamics. The Rooivalk has a fire control system for target acquisition and tracking as well as an advanced navigation system using Doppler radar and GPS. Also incorporated is an electronic countermeasures suite coupled with chaff and flare dispensers.
Notable features include a tandem cockpit, starboard tail rotor with a port tailplane, a fixed wheeled undercarriage as well as wire cutters above and below the cockpit and on the undercarriage. The Rooivalk is a highly maneuverable aircraft and in training, pilots can easily accomplish less combat specific maneuvers like backflips, rolls and flying "on the nose" which are not possible in other attack helicopters, these maneuvers are meant to give pilots confidence in their aircraft's performance and also to develop an intuitive flying style for which both the helicopter's airframe and also the cockpit layout are both designed.

The following types of missions are reccomended for the Rooivalk: Reconnaissance, heliborne escort, close air support, deep penetration and anti-armour.

The Rooivalk Helicopter has a maximum speed of 310 KmH and a range of 740 Km. It's Maximum payload is 1250 Kilos of munitions which may include:

Medium Utility Helicopter

The Oryx can trace its origins back to the Gaborone Border War. Despite the efforts of Thunbergian Defense Force officials to import foreign built gunships to combat the Gaborone insurgents, the need for a dedicated gunship which was both developed and produced in Thunbergia was recognized. As the Thunbergian aviation industry became self-sufficient in the production of helicopter components such as gearboxes, rotor blades and turbines and hot section parts, the obvious first step was for a fully in house developed gunship helicopter, however political pressure at the time steered the program towards the development of a Utility Helicopter which could be utilized for both military and civilian purposes.
The ORYX program was the end result of these findings and the political pressures which forced a compromise that today has culminated in a highly effective and rugged helicopter which serves well in military operations thanks to features like engine intakes fitted with pronounced dust filters which ensure higher efficiency and reliability in the dusty combat environments common to Thunbergia. In civilian applications, the ORYX benefits greatly from an impressive safety record, thanks to the utilitarian robust engine design which, one of the engines fail, ensures that the remaining powerplant has sufficient power for the ORYX to complete its mission.
If an engine fails in flight, the robust engine management system automatically advances the power setting on the remaining engine. This ensures the Oryx sustains flight with very little crew input, during such an emergency.

The Airframe of the ORYX extensively utilizes carbon composite materials in both the airframe and the undercarriage which reduces weight and also lends to the overall robust characteristics of the helicopter.

The following types of missions are recommended for the ORYX: medium to heavy transport, communications flights, task force rapid deployment operations, fire fighting, gunship operations and search & rescue missions, replenishment at sea, force multiplication, reconnaissance, etc.

It can carry up to 20 fully equipped troops, or 6 wounded on stretchers with 4 attendants, or 3,000 kg freight carried in the cabin, or 4,500 kg freight on an external sling.
The ORYX is equipped standard with a field removable 50 meter long hydraulic cable hoist, rated for up to 2 personnel, for use in rescue operations and also for rapid extraction of men and material. Additionally a large metal A-frame structure can be fitted in the cargo bay which allows up to 4 personnel to rappel or abseil from the aircraft simultaneously.

The Rooivalk Helicopter has a maximum speed of 300 KmH and a range of 300 Km. under load or 2000 km unloaded. It's Maximum payload is 4550 Kilos of men, materiel and/or cargo or munitions which may include:

Armament
    Guns: 2 × door-mounted 7.62 mm machine guns or 1x 7.62 mm machine gun and 1 x 40 mm automatic grenade launcher.

Unit Cost: $15,000,000 NSD

Surveillance Aircraft

Reconnaissance and Surveillance Aircraft have played an important role in militaries for a century and some times, a drone just can not do the job, You need a Human being who can spot trouble and respond.

Image

The AHRLAC (Advanced High Performance Reconnaissance Light Aircraft) is a light reconnaissance and counter-insurgency aircraft designed as an inexpensive, more versatile substitute for unmanned aerial vehicles.
The AHRLAC features a twin-boom, high-wing, single-pusher-engine configuration, using a PT6A turboprop engine, with a crew of two seated in tandem with off the shelf technologies in the cabin like Martin-Baker ejection seats and a variety of commercial avionics, the AHRLAC is simple to fly and benefits from both responsive handling and familiarity to pilots.
The AHRLAC's airframe uses a mixture of aluminum and carbon composite construction, and is designed to provide maximum visibility for its crew. The aircraft is designed to carry a belly mounted 20 mm cannon on a dedicated weapon pylon, with 6 additional hardpoints for carrying weapons mounted under the wings, including rocket pods, UMKHONTO guided bombs, unguided bombs, and both air-to-surface and air-to-air missiles.
The lower fuselage consists of a variety of interchangeable conformal modular units fitted with a variety of sensor systems such as infrared and optical cameras, synthetic aperture radar, electronic intelligence gathering and electronic warfare equipment.
The AHRLAC is cheaper to acquire and operate than many UAVs because the AHRLACof does not require the expensive subsystems required for remote control of unmanned aircraft.

The ARHLAC is optimized for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) and counter-insurgency missions; coastal patrol, anti-smuggling and disaster relief capabilities round out the design to make it a must have for the modern first world. The AHRLAC has a payload of 1600 kilos and a top speed of 504 km/h with an operating ceiling of 38,000 ft which allows it to preform some missions from well out of the range of small arms and AA guns. The ARHLAC can remain in flight for around 10 hours without refueling.

Armament
Guns: 1 × weapons pod mounted 20 mm modèle F2 auto cannon.
Missiles: 4 x Mokopa (ATGM), up to 6 x rack mounted Mk-81 General Purpose Bombs, up to 6 x rack mounted Mk-81 UMKHUNTO Kit Guided Bombs, up to 4 x Mk-82 unguided bombs, up to 4 x Mk-82 UMKHUNTO Kit guided Bombs, 4x 68mm rocket pods. A wide variety of similar weapons.

Fighting Vehicles

Armored Fighting vehicle, also known as AFVs or IFVs (Infantry Fighting Vehicles are often the backbone of a modern ground force.

Image

The Ratel is a six wheeled vehicle multi-role fighting vehicle, with run-flat tires for the long-distance speed, mobility, and ease of maintenance that tracked vehicles lack. The Ratel's ground clearance and cross-country performance are very good for generally rolling terrain, open grass lands, densely wooded areas, loose sands and urban environments. Unlike tracked vehicles, it does not need to be transported by truck or train over long distances but instead can drive from location to location quickly and economically thanks to it's 315 HP turbocharged diesel engine.
The Ratel's design gives considerable to protection against land mines thanks to the bottom of the hull which is angled and reinforced so as to deflect mine blasts out to the sides. The vehicle has multiple doors and hatches; the two main doors are located in the vehicle's sides, but a small rear door and roof hatches allow the crew to exit the vehicle from many directions at once, or to more easily dismount under cover during an ambush.
Though lightly armored (20mm of constant protection), the vehicle is well-protected against bullets and artillery shell splinters, but is vulnerable to anti-tank guns, automatic cannon of 23 millimeters or higher, rocket-propelled grenades and guided missiles.
The Ratel also has on-board potable water storage tanks, a necessity for operations in arid areas, and a very wide operational radius of more than 1,000 kilometres (680 miles).

Armament
The basic Ratel-20 offered here has a primary armament that consists of a GI-2 20 millimeter (0.79 in) autocannon mounted in a non-powered turret at the front of the vehicle, supplemented by a coaxial 7.62 × 51 mm NATO machine gun and a 7.62 × 51 mm calibre pintle-mounted machine gun mounted by the commander's roof hatch. The 20 mm (0.79 in) cannon is belt fed and has a high rate of fire. Ammunition is selected for specific engagements and typically consists of a combination of HE (high explosive) and APTC (armour piercing tungsten carbide) rounds in sequence.
The Ratel also has four rifle ports on each side of the vehicle, allowing the infantrymen to fire from within the vehicle. The crew consists of commander, driver, gunner and seven infantrymen.

Unit Cost: $190,000 NSD

Image
The Ratel-90 is almost identicle to the Ratel-20 six wheeled vehicle multi-role fighting vehicle, it also utilizes run-flat tires for the long-distance speed, mobility, and ease of maintenance that it's tracked counterparts lack and performs very good in a variety of environments and terrains, with the same hull design it gives the same considerable to protection against land mines and gives the crew and infantrymen multiple doors and hatches; to more easily dismount the vehicle's lightly armored but highly mobile, long range design.
The only real difference between the vehicles is that The Ratel 90 weighs approximately half a ton more than a Ratel 20, due to the larger turret and armament.

Armament
The Ratel-90 offered here mounts a primary armament that consists of GT-2 90 millimeter (3.54 in) low-velocity semi-auto rifled quick-firing gun in a two-man unpowered turret at the front of the vehicle, supplemented by a 7.62 × 51 mm calibre pintle-mounted machine gun mounted by the commander's roof hatch. The 90 mm (0.79 in) cannon has an elevation of +15° and a depression of -8is. The turret rotation is manual and takes approximately twenty seconds. A gunner is seated on the right and has a one-piece hatch cover. The loader or commander is on the left of the gun and there is a single hatch cover provided for the commander. The 90 mm gun fires HEAT (effective range 1,200 m), HE (effective range 2,200 m) and practice (effective range 1,200 m) projectiles. There are 29 rounds of 90 mm ammunition carried in the turret and 42 rounds in the hull.
The Ratel-90 retains it's four rifle ports on each side of the vehicle, allowing the infantrymen r crew to fire from within the vehicle. An additional pintle-mounted 7.62 × 51 mm NATO machine gun accessed from a roof hatch, is located at the rear of the Ratel's upper deck and provides cover for the Ratel's rear quarter. The crew consists of the vehicle commander, driver, main gunner (90 mm), rear anti-aircraft gunner, section commander and five infantrymen.

Unit Cost: $205,000 NSD

Image
The Ratel-C or Ratel Command is highly modified from the Ratel-20 but shares it's six wheeled fighting vehicle design, range, speed, mobility, mine prtection and ease of maintenance.
The differences between the vehicles is that The Ratel-C weighs approximately half a ton more than a Ratel 20, due to the addition of extensive communications equipment.
The rear of the vehicle is fitted with a hydraulically actuated optronic mast that operates by rising above the battlefield and provides information through an array of sensors, including forward looking infrared, high definition low-light and thermographic cameras.
Images and information from the mast as well as communications equipment appear on display panels within the crew compartment for analysis. The vehicle is kitted out with battlefield network equipment, a long range point to point microwave transmitter and a short range directional radar for detecting ground vehicles.

Armament
The Ratel Command offered here is primarily an observation and command vehicle and because of this it is only armed for self protection. The armament consists of a single 7.62 × 51 mm calibre pintle-mounted machine gun mounted by the commander's roof hatch. The crew consists of the vehicle commander, driver, observer, communications officer, technician, and five infantrymen.

Unit Cost: $290,000 NSD

Image

The iKlwa (stabbing-spear) armored personnel carrier is a further development of the Ratel. It is manufactured in Thunbergia as a new built vehicle for export but has also been converted from older Ratel APCs.
Utilizing the same tooling and facilities that produced the Ratel, the iKlwa is essentially a Ratel with the hull and powerpack upgraded. in the Iklwa the engine is located at the front of the vehicle and the drivers compartment is sunken into the hull to give a lower profile. The rear of the hull is also trimmed back to accommodate the new, larger door/ramp.
The iKlwa is better protected than the Ratel (27mm consistently) and the iKlwa can carry 15 fully equipped troops in addition to the crew and driver thanks to the larger internal compartment provided by moving the engine compartment from the rear of the vehicle to the front. Troops enter and leave the vehicle via the large hydraulically actuated rear ramp, roof hatches or door in the side of the hull. The vehicle has a payload capacity of more than 9 tons and can alternatively carry supplies or equipment in place of the troops.
The iKlwa is powered by the 450 HP turbocharged diesel engine, which is significantly more powerful, comparing with the 315 HP engine of the Ratel.

Armament

The iKlwa APC is armed with a single remotely controlled 12.7-mm machine gun.

Unit Cost: $400,000 NSD

Image
The iKlwa-30 is a new built APC which brings not only troops and equipment to the battlefield but also hard hitting firepower in the form of a computer controlled and stabilized 30 x 113 mm chain gun capable of punching holes in most light armor on the battlefield.
The dpeed and power given to the Iklwa APC give it an ability to bring an entire infantry squad and the iKlwa-30 gives that squad instant fire support against a variety of targets at almost 1/4 of the cost of a Bradley Fighting Vehicle.

Armament

The iKlwe-30 offered here has a primary armament that consists of a 30 mm, single-barrel automatic cannon. It is an electrically operated chain gun that uses external electrical power (as opposed to recoil or expanding gas generated by the firing cartridge) to cycle the weapon. The 30mm chain gun is mounted in a powered turret near the rear of the vehicle, supplemented by a coaxial 7.62 × 51 mm NATO machine gun. The 30 mm cannon has a high rate of fire. Ammunition is selected for specific engagements and typically consists of a combination of High Explosive Dual Purpose (HEDP) and High Explosive Incendiary (HEI) rounds.
The Iklwe also has four rifle hatches on top of each side of the vehicle, allowing the infantrymen to stand and fire from within the vehicle and behind the armored hatch. The crew consists of commander, driver, gunner and ten infantrymen.

Unit Cost: $440,000 NSD

The iKlwa-ATGM is a new built IFV which brings serious firepower to the front in the form of a Multiple Tube Launch System (MTLS) which gives the commander/gunner 3X rapid shots of the Thunberg Dynamics The Ingwe (leopard) multi-purpose ATGM (anti=tank guided missile) which gives the iKlwa ATGM the ability to defeat most modern armored threats.
Ingwe is a jam-resistan laser beam-riding guided missile with a tandem warhead that will penetrate up to 1000 mm of Rolled Homogeneous Armour (RHA) after a single layer of reactive armour.
The Unmanned electronically controlled turret contains line of sight optronic equipment as well as the laser designator and a coaxial 12.7-mm machine gun.

Armament

The iKlwe-30 offered here has a primary armament that consists of 3X, Ingwe Missile Launch Tubes operated from a gunner's station in the rear of the vehicle. The Ingwe Missile tubes can be rapidly fired and is reloaded from the hatches in the top of the vehicle. The Coaxially mounted 12.7-mm machine gun provides protection from infantry and like the other iKlwe vehicles, the iKlwe-ATGM also has four rifle hatches on top of each side of the vehicle, allowing the infantrymen to stand and fire from within the vehicle and behind the armored hatch. The crew consists of commander, driver, gunner and six infantrymen.

Unit Cost: $750,000 NSD

Does your company manufacture the Umbani precision-guided bomb kit for the NATO Mk81, 250lb bomb?
Do you sell the laser seekers to go with them?
