Name: Andrea Chavez

Ability: Andrea has the power of density manipulation. She can individually manipulate both physical properties of a substance that determines its density: mass and volume, or manipulate both at the same time. How well she can manipulate it depends upon two primary factors: how large the object is, and how close it is. An object the size of a human or larger, for example, would require her to be within 10 feet in order to even affect its density. For greater control, she would need to touch the object. Smaller objects, such as an apple, can be manipulated pretty much freely from any distance.
Appearance:

Personality: Andrea has typically been considered to be sort of a "tomboy." She has a rough and snarky personality as well as interests typically considered more "masculine" such as video games, sports, etc. which makes her pretty popular among guys. At the same time, though, she's also a big nerd at heart and has loved science, particularly biology, ever since she was a child.
Bio: Andrea was born in a fairly well off family of scientists -- her father, a researcher in astronomy, and her mother a university physics professor. She was raised to love science through numerous means. She was taken to science museum after science museum, visited her parents at work numerous times, and given entire bookshelves worth of science related books.

When she was 13, her powers began manifesting themselves. At first, she hid them because she thought her parents might shun her and see her as a monster. However, eventually they did find out when she slipped, fell down some stairs, and subconsciously decreased her mass and stopped herself midair in front of them. The fear of her parents not only being disgusted at her abilities but also being angry because she lied to them for so many years caused her to immediately run away from home.

Andrea went to the only adult that she personally trusted, Brianna (who was a close friend of Andrea's mother), and explained the situation to her. Brianna housed her for two days, and on the third day, Andrea's parents came to get her. Andrea almost ran away again before Brianna revealed that she also had abilities and used them to stop her from running away.

Her parents explained to her that they weren't upset over the fact that she had developed abilities nor were they angry that she hid them from them. In fact, they were excited and believed that it would open up many opportunities for her. They even allowed her to assist them in their research. Eventually they found about the Edwin R.G. Uther Boarding Academy and asked Andrea if she would like to go. She agreed, and joined.

Gender: Female
Sex: Female
Age: 22
Position: Staff/Counselor
Ability: Brianna is an Empath. She can detect and interpret the emotions of others even if they aren't outwardly expressing them. She can also replicate them and induce them on others, essentially making them feel whatever emotion she wants them to and allowing her to control them (though she very much prefers not to and typically does so under special circumstances). She can also hear thoughts of others, though it's extremely limited and the thoughts must be tied to emotion. An example would be if she sensed two spouses aiming a lot of hatred towards one another. She would get an echo of thought along with that emotion (something like "I cant believe hes cheating on me after all these years"). Brianna can also project her ability onto others and allow one person to feel another person's emotional state.
Appearance:

Personality: Brianna is a straightforward and blunt individual that prefers to not beat around the bush, especially when it comes to her job. That isn't to say that she's cold or detached, as she genuinely cares for the students. Rather, because she can break through a person's facades about what their emotional state, she has developed little patience for such things.
Bio: Unlike the vast majority of people with abilities, Brianna's were active almost from the beginning. Even as far back as when she was three, she had been unconsciously influencing people's emotions to get what she wanted. As a result, she was pampered by her parents and given preferential treatment by friends, strangers, and her teachers.

It wasn't until Brianna was about 11 until she realized her ability. The realization crushed her because she quickly pieced together that all of the love and attention that she had received over the years wasn't because she was a good person nor because she was actually loved. She became convinced that rather than everyone loving her, everyone actually hated her, and that she was simply convincing them otherwise.

For years, she closed herself off to others as she lived under this believe and refused to use her abilities. Ironically, her failure to use her abilities prevented her from understanding how other people felt about her which caused her to keep a distance from them which often led them to having negative feelings about her and thus confirming her assumptions and further refusing to use her powers. It was a cycle of self fulfilling prophecies that she couldn't escape from.

That is, until her parents sent her to Edwin's Home for the Extraordinarily Gifted. There, she slowly broke out of her shell as she interacted with people who were different like her and learned to better control her abilities. Through the help she received from others, she felt that she was obligated to help others as well and became the school's counselor, using her her abilities to make it more effective.
