Twenty-seven years.

Time cares not of our calamity.

Of our demise.

We, a mere blip within the cosmos, our rise and our fall, our history, our struggle, it means naught once all has been said and done. Human civilization stands now in ruins, a relic of times since gone pass. A monument of our former glory as the masters of this planet; a monument to the sins of the world.

The Outbreak could not be stopped.

Could not be contained.

The world as we once knew it is no more, a slate wiped clean in a global pandemic unlike anything once before seen. Millions upon millions have fallen, and the rule of mankind has effectively come to a close. This is how humanity dies, not with a bang but in quiet whisper, consumed by plague and our own inner madness.

But even in darkness there is a light.

The human will to survive, to overcome, still lingers when all else has decayed. Survivors, holdouts to a dying world, stand firm against the inevitable. These select few press onward, moving forward when so many others have already crossed over and into oblivion, and though they continue to breathe, to live, they must do so in the twilight of human existence. Every passing day is a struggle more difficult than the last and tomorrow is never guaranteed. Fate is soon approaching and their time is running out.

And what of you? Will you accept the cold embrace of the end or will you claw at every second of life? Alone or with others? And if the chance remained to right what was so horribly wrong would you take it no matter the sacrifice?

But it does not matter as first you must survive in a world no longer meant for man.

No Man’s Land.

27 years ago the manufactured virus T-13 devastated the world. Nations have fallen and the few remaining pockets of civilization are under constant threat, whether from bandits or from the infected. Most of humanity has died out and the world has since given way to Darwin’s law. Resources are frighteningly scarce, a neverending winter has settled across the globe, and extinction is a dawning certainty.

This is a survival RP. That is your primary goal, and awaiting you is a challenging environment, dangerous creatures, and less than trustworthy people. Our tale begins in Aspen and the surrounding area of former Colorado. You will need to band together if you wish to make it through the twilight of humanity. Will you fight for one more day on Earth or will you sacrifice it all for the good of mankind? The choice is ultimately yours to make.

The world is no longer a safe place. Most settlements remain small with large towns being increasingly uncommon, a fact further compounded by the ever intensifying global winter. Bandits, slavers, and cannibals lurk in the wastes of America, and most cities have become the home of monstrosities that are no longer human.

Resources have become scarce. Gasoline is no longer abundant and ammo is in short supply. Food, while once capable of being found with little difficulty, is now something to which to fight over. What technology remains is haphazard and held together through a mix of skill and luck, scavengers risking life and limb to pick clean the ruins of the world. Those who waste will not survive long.

IMMUNITY

FULL: The virus cannot survive within these individuals.

GIFTED: TE-13; beneficial effects with affected individual ranging from increased physical traits to higher mental faculties. Contagion can be spread.

PARTIAL / CARRIER: TD-13; individuals display no harmful effects of infection but are capable of spreading the contagion.

NONE: Individuals with no immunity are extremely susceptible of developing lethal strains of T-13.

NOTE: Currently most if not all human populations are Immune or Carriers of the virus. Gifted is extremely rare and those with No Immunities are rarer still.

APPLICATION

NOTE: Due to an abundance of soldier characters please attempt originality. Soldiers will be denied.

T-13

A manufactured viral mutagen possessing a high rate of lethality. The virus quickly and often times destructively targets the DNA sequences of a living organism leading to abnormal cell growth, necrosis (cell death), and spontaneous recombination and mutation. The virus cannot survive for long durations outside of a living host and as such transmission is predominantly through direct contact with an infected individual via tainted blood and bodily fluids, however close proximity (coughing, sneezing, etc.) can potentially lead to infection in a handful of cases.

Once inside a host the virus mutates into one of several varying strains, a process often influenced directly by the genetic makeup of the infected individual. Note: the virus will mutate regardless of the strain of the initial infection. At this time there is no consistent method in which to determine which strain will form upon contamination.

Infection Rate: High
Lethality Rate: Extremely High

The most common of the various strains, the virus embeds itself into the respiratory and circulatory system of a host though other systems may be affected to a lesser degree. Flu-like symptoms are often present in the early stages of infection and generally worsen with time. The lungs specifically are often irreparably damaged, leading to breathing difficulties and, in the latter stages, internal hemorrhaging with death arriving shortly afterwards. Incubation periods and progression rates may vary wildly between individuals though the very young, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems often succumb to the virus within a matter of days if not hours. Healthy individuals can potentially survive for several weeks with proper treatment.

Infection Rate: Low
Lethality Rate: Moderate

The virus predominantly targets the neural pathways of a host but can also cause mutations in both the skeletal and muscular systems. Though varying between individuals brain, nerve, and spinal damage can result potentially leading to partial or full paralysis and brain death in extreme cases. Individuals who survive infection often suffer catastrophic brain damage. These damaged individuals are often times extremely aggressive, lashing out at anything and everything around them with little sense of self preservation remaining. Incubation period is typically several days. Infected and Psychotics both suffer from TB-13.

Infection Rate: Extremely Low
Lethality Rate: High

The most destructive strain, the virus targets DNA sequences throughout the body, leading to uncontrollable recombination and mutation. Progressing in a similar manner to that of other strains, given time an infected individual will undergo severe physical mutation which is often times fatal. Survivals are generally no longer human in terms of appearance and behavior and are extremely dangerous vectors of the virus. Incubation period is typically several weeks. All Reaver variants suffer from TC-13.

Infection Rate: Extremely Low
Lethality Rate: Nonlethal

A neutral strain that causes no physical change within a host body though flu-like symptoms may be present during the initial stages of infection. While not harmful in any way to the host the virus may still be transferred to other individuals via close contact or close proximity, after which mutation into another strain may occur.

Infection Rate: Nonexistent
Lethality Rate: Nonlethal

The rarest strain, the virus targets the DNA sequences of a host but with surprisingly beneficial results. Though greatly varying between individuals, those infected may see a boost in physical traits, immunities, perception, mental abilities, and other as of yet identified benefits. Though boasting positive results transmission amongst others is still possible, after which viral mutation may occur.

Infection Rate: UNKNOWN
Lethality Rate: UNKNOWN

This strain has mutated to affect species other than Homo sapiens. A catchall term, progression various wildly with either little to none or massive mutations present. Any creature can potentially be infected, though those in greater contact with humanity are at a much greater risk. Mutts suffer from TM-13.

Infection Rate: UNKNOWN
Lethality Rate: UNKNOWN

A recent mutation, little is known of this variant save for the fact that it can override previous immunities.

INFECTION TYPES

Those suffering from Infection typically retain their physical humanity though generally have succumbed to brain trauma to one degree or another, ranging from feral to disturbed and, in some extremely rare cases, a positive benefit to thinking prowess.

Sighting Rare
Threat: Moderate

Suffering from advance states of brain damage, Infected have become little more than feral monstrosities lashing out at anything that so much as moves. Typically congregating in hordes or small groups, Infected wander about aimlessly with little purpose other than to consume what they can. Unfortunately time has not be kind to these poor souls and most have since died out, meaning any sighted were most likely a recent addition to their already dwindling numbers. Some Infected, however, do display capabilities of higher thought functions and can sometimes be found alongside Psychotics.

Strength:
Infected are generally weak, and as such rely on their numbers for some semblance of an advantage. Pain receptors have also been damaged due to infection, allowing Infected to move and operate well after sustaining life threatening injuries, as well as allowing fatigue and exhaustion to affect them less so than normal humans.

Weakness:
As stated, Infected are weak, no stronger than most humans. Injuries that prove fatal to others will also prove fatal to Infected.

Sighting Common
Threat: Moderate

Formerly a dog or some similar canid, mutations have little changed Mutts. Typically resembling a large coyote with grey overtones with little variation after successive generations, Mutts are pack creatures that very much remain dog-like, though with an apparent aggression towards non-Infected. Some have formed symbiotic relations with Lurkers, living and hunting near their dens, while others have been domesticated by Psychotics.

Strength:
Their speed and smaller size makes any Mutt a dangerous foe should it be allowed to close the distance, after which the beast will target the neck and jugular but will lash out at any limb of opportunity. Rarely alone, Mutts typically travel in packs and sometimes alongside other Infected and Reavers.

Weakness:
Alone, a Mutt is not very strong, and while engaging one up close is extremely dangerous these creatures rely on a pack mentality in order to survive. Mutts are also vulnerable and are generally easy enough to dispatch.

Sighting Uncommon
Threat: High

Warped by infection, Psychotics are little better than their Infected brethren but are highly capable of abstract thought. Intelligent to a degree, Psychotics band together in what could only be called tribes, laying waste to any threat or potential meal. Though originally having little purpose other than survival, over the years Psychotics have become well organized to the point of rivaling humanity.

Strength:
Physically Psychotics and Infected are not too dissimilar, the main difference being intelligence. Psychotics are capable of abstract thoughts and planning, tool usage, language, and other concepts that keep them terrifyingly human. Rarely alone, Psychotics form together in small bands or tribes, usually electing the strongest as leader, blindly devoting themselves to the cause.

Weakness:
While capable of thought intelligence has indeed been hampered in most cases. Psychotics are also no more durable than their Infected counterparts.

Sighting Extremely Rare
Threat: Extremely High

As of yet unconfirmed, Uplifted are thought to be former Psychotics which contracted the T-14 virus. Believed to be Gifted, these individuals are considered to be incredibly dangerous and should be avoided at all costs.

Strength:
Increasingly intelligent and physically superior to other Infected, Uplifted are thought by some to be the next step in human evolution.

Weakness:
As stated, Infected are weak, no stronger than most humans. Injuries that prove fatal to others will also prove fatal to Infected.

REAVER TYPES

Reavers are any Infected which has undergone severe physical mutations. While some retain a vaguely human visage most have foregone their previous humanity and can only justly be called a monster. Similar to other Infected, the brains of Reavers may or may not be adversely affected, though in most cases a devolution takes place in the form of overt animalistic behavior.

Sighting Rare
Threat: Extremely High

Berserkers are Psychotics that have undergone physical mutations similar to those of a Brute, granting immense strength and durability. Alternatively, Berserkers can be thought of as Brutes that have retained their mind to some degree. Regardless, these massive beings are quite dangerous, perhaps more so than a typical Brute. Found alongside bands of Psychotics, Berserkers, whose intelligence may vary, tend to be the heavy hitters, quite capable of tearing apart foes with their bare hands but often found utilizing some heavy weapon that only they are able to lift. Berserkers are rare, existing along a fine line between Psychotic and Brute, the latter of which, due to mental instability, are actively killed by Psychotics.

Strength:
Berserkers have all the benefits of a Brute with the added bonus of intelligence. Muscle mass and bone density makes them a formidable foe, being able to tear through any barricade as if it were made of paper. Engaging one directly is not recommended and it is advised that Berserkers be avoided in close ranges.

Weakness:
Though they can think, Berserkers are by no means the smartest of beings, though exceptions do exist. Slow, Berserkers are only dangerous should one allow them to be.

Sighting Extremely Rare
Threat: Extremely High

Having gained physical mass, Brutes rely solely on their strength to see them through any conflict, cutting down any Infected which so happens to stand between it and a target. Known to tear through metal, Brutes somewhat retain their human form though in a twisted and disproportionate manner. As dangerous as this Reaver is, the Brute has effectively died out, with no current sightings being known.

Strength:
Extremely strong, the Brute will tear its way towards any target with little care for its own well-being. A disproportionate increase in muscle mass grants a Brute incredible strength while dense bone growth allows this Reaver to withstand an absurd amount of abuse before showing physical wear. The skull in particular is capable of surviving against most small arms. While varying between individuals some Brutes possess claw-like protrusions along their arms and hands, likely calcified growths, granting them an additional weapon in which to maim their targets.

Weakness:
While strong Brutes possess next to know intelligence, and as such can be outsmarted with relative ease. Brutes are also slower than most Infected, and while capable of bursts of speed, rarely can keep such a pace for long durations.

Sighting Uncommon
Threat: Extremely High

Hardly recognizable as human, Lurkers are pack creatures that move quickly on four legs, using their claws and sharp teeth to tear through flesh and bone alike. Showing an aversion to the light, Lurkers are typically found in dark hideaways, such as forests and cities, venturing only in the cover of darkness or clouded skies. As a group Lurkers have been hugely successful, becoming an apex predator in some areas of post-Outbreak America. Recent generations show considerable devolution with only the barest trace of their human ancestry remaining.

Strength:
Highly intelligent Lurkers are found always within a pack, using their numbers to flank, feint, and corral targets into kill zones. A lone Lurker, however, is still highly lethal in its own right. Boasting heighten senses, Lurkers are quick footed and capable of climbing through and over most obstacles. Bone growth, while not on the same level as a Brute, also grants them some durability. The greatest strength, ultimately, is their stealth, often stalking prey from the shadows and unseen perches, striking before one even knows they are being hunted.

Weakness:
Lurkers shy away from light and actively avoid open flames. In areas with a known Lurker presence it is recommended to travel during the day and to avoid any area with suitable shade or cover.

Sighting Common
Threat: High

Buzzers are thought to be members of the same family as horse-flies and deer-flies, infected and having mutated extensively over several generations. The size of a softball, Buzzers are primarily scavengers, swarming and feeding from corpses, being quite capable of stripping a body of its flesh within minutes. However, Buzzers have been known to attack living beings as well and have become a pest to both humanity and to the Infected. They are aptly named Buzzers due to the loud noise they generate whilst flying.

Strength:
A swarm is quite capable of killing a large creature within seconds, sharp mandibles ripping flesh from bone with practiced ease. Though individuals may scout ahead the swarm is never too far behind. Their speed and extremely small size make fighting a futile task and it is recommended to seek shelter or to avoid areas with known Buzzer nests altogether.

Weakness:
Buzzers are extremely weak, relying solely on their numbers to bring down a target. These creatures are also reluctant to approach fire and tend to avoid open flames of any size.

Sighting Extremely Rare
Threat: High

Mutations to the lungs and larynx allow a Screamer to produce a shrill, disconcerting scream at the cost of skull deformities that render this Reaver completely blind. These wails can prove fatal to those in close proximity, and disorienting to those standing further out. Most dangerous, however, is the tendency of Screamers to draw in other Infected, acting as a beacon that can be heard for upwards of a mile away.

Strength:
The wail of a Screamer can rupture eardrums, blood vessels, and ultimately prove fatal to those in close proximity. Screamers also possess a heightened sense of smell to aid in locating prey. Other Infected tend to linger near a Screamer, drawn to the noise it makes.

Weakness:
Screamers, being blind, are largely dependent on other Infected to locate food, and as such have since died off. Their sense of smell, while better than most human's, is not perfect and simply keeping one's distance and remaining quiet will allow most anyone to avoid drawing a Screamer's attention.

Sighting Extremely Rare
Threat: Extremely High

Believed to be Lurkers that have succumbed to the T-14 virus, Stalkers are a mutation upon a mutation, being identified by some as a Brute mixed with a Lurker, a rough but apt description. Larger and far more lethal, Stalkers, are said to roam sewer/subway systems and other incredibly dark areas, feeding on anything unfortunate enough to find itself lost in these underworlds, including other Reavers. Sightings are as of yet unconfirmed and Stalkers are likely to simply be larger than average Lurkers. It is not recommended that you seek the truth behind these creatures.

Strength:
Insanely strong and with a high bone density, Stalkers ca tear through anything with ease while also sustaining enough damage to drop an elephant and then some. Capable of moving quickly and with a stealth unbecoming of something so large, Stalkers are essentially Brutes but far more lethal.

Weakness:
Aside from the Lurkers' avoidance of light and fire, it is unknown if Stalkers have any other weakness at this time.

Sighting Rare
Threat: Extremely High

Weepers are the progeny of Lurkers, though what makes them truly dangerous is their cry. Sounding like human children, many unwary travelers have inadvertently been drawn into a Lurker den only to be ripped to shreds. Worse still is a Weeper's ability to mimic language, a skill that adult Lurkers do not display, either due to physical/mental limitations or for reasons unknown.

Strength:
The nature of a Weeper's calls is uncannily human, and due to few ever being accounted without death following suit more and more people stumble across this unwitting trap as time goes on.

Weakness:
A Weeper, while capable of causing severe injury, is solely reliant on adult Lurkers. Alone, a Weeper is hardly a danger. Similar to Lurkers, they also avoid light when at all possible.

LOCATIONS

There are many places to explore in post-Outbreak America. Some are settlements, perhaps friendly, while others may be ruins of great cities or military bases. Explore, scavenge, and survive.

Danger: Low

A small settlement of 47 sitting just outside the resort town of Aspen, Colorado. The mountains and dense wood offer protection from most threats, however the people of Aspen are solely reliant on trading in order to survive due to food production being limited by cold temperatures, scavengers keeping the town supplied with tradable goods. Should these lines of supply be cut then Aspen would fall within a matter of weeks. Already this small settlement is in decline as depletion sets in, and an exodus may soon take place.

UPDATE: Following an attack by the Vultures, Aspen has been razed to the ground.

DANGER: High

The largest city in Colorado, Denver has largely been overrun by Infected who continue to maintain a firm grasp of the area. Despite this many scavengers attempt to brave the city, seeking troves of untapped goods that could likely supply any settlement for months if not years. The dangers, however, greatly outweigh the benefits of any such endeavor.

DANGER: Low

A small outpost sitting at the intersection of Interstate 70 and Highway 82, Glenwood rarely has a population exceeding 10, being more of a resting point than a permanent settlement. Most people heading to or from Aspen must pass through Glenwood if they wish to avoid Twin Lakes. Similar to Aspen, Glenwood is quickly fading and may soon be abandoned.

UPDATE: Glenwood was attacked and destroyed by the Vultures.

Danger: Low

A larger settlement west of Denver, Grand Junction is possibly one of the most successful settlement in Colorado, large part due to their isolationism. While not hostile outsiders are generally looked down upon with mistrust. Avoiding undesirables the settlement has since thrived. Due to its location along I-70 Grand Junction is a major trading post with traders from Utah.

UPDATE: Following an attempt to appease the Vultures Grand Junction has been razed.

Danger: Medium

A small, unassuming settlement Salida boasts a high concentration of Cultist and other religious figures, the nature of which cannot be confirmed. Though exposed a trained militia have kept Salida safe despite its proximity to both Denver and Twin Lakes.

DANGER: High

Further down Highway 82 and pass Aspen, Twin Lakes is a rural area where Lurkers have frequently been spotted. The area has little been explored because of this.

FACTIONS

Various groups exist in post-Outbreak America. Some are friendly while others may be outright hostile. These are but a few that exist, both in legend and in reality.

Image
Threat: N/A

A large corporation with the strength and power to rival that of a small country, Atlas was, at one point in time, the most powerful entity within the United States following the Outbreak, second only to the Remnants. Founded primarily on biomedical and genetic research, Atlas was rumored to have had some connection to T-13, conducting extensive research on the virus after its release. Atlas would later be forcibly disbanded by the Remnants after being made the scapegoat to calm an ever angry populace. All research was either destroyed or missing.

Image
Threat: High

Pillaging in reckless abandon, bandits care not for their fellow man. Ruthless and living in the moment, bandits are criminals first and foremost, a plague amongst humanity and even to themselves, fighting over depleted resources and killing for the simple pleasure of doing just that. Thought various bandit gangs scour the wastes of post-Outbreak America most are small and highly unorganized, relying on brute strength to survive. Each gang is unique in its own way. Some only live to kill, some are cannibals and others slavers, and a few have morals that may not be outwardly apparent. All in all, bandits should be avoided whenever possible.

Image
Threat: N/A

Roving bands of Psychotics have plagued humanity ever since the Outbreak. The Chosen are regarded to be far worse. Displaying an intellect and cunning unbecoming of their brethren, the Chosen are not widely believed to exist, being the stuff of legend and nightmares. Regardless, it is recommended that all Psychotics be avoided at all costs.

Image
Threat: Moderate

There are two main thoughts believed by Cultist: A) the Outbreak is akin to the Rapture or B) the Outbreak is the next step in human evolution. Regardless of their belief, all Cultist remain steadfast in promoting their own views, sometimes peacefully and other times with violence. Found anywhere with sizable populations or settlements, most Cultists are written off as mentally unstable and generally ignored, often treated as a pest or nuisance. Those who delve into violence are little better than bandits, using morals and rationality to justify what they do.

Image
Threat: Low

A loose confederation of settlements within former Texas territory, the Republic of Texas has become a sizable hub of civilization in post-Outbreak America. Cooperation between settlements united under a single flag allows for greater protection, production, and overall survival. To outsiders, the Republic of Texas stands as a valuable agrarian region, typically trading food for other resources. Trained militias have kept bandit attacks generally low.

Image
Threat: N/A

Formerly the government of the United States, the Remnants maintained control of the interior of the nation for several years following the Outbreak. A pseudo-fascist state, this government was extremely brutal when dealing with any potential threat, relying heavily on military strength to force outsider factions into submission, creating a safe haven free of infection. However, this final bastion of America was not to last. The virus eventually found its way into Remnants' territory and the final refuge of the United States fell within three months time. Years after its dissolution, the Remnants have become little more than legend, though rumors abound that a small fraction survived the collapse, loyal to a defunct system and scouring the wastes of America on some unknown mission.

Image
Threat: High

Tribes of Psychotics are a very much real threat. Akin to bandits, tribals are extremely aggressive and territorial, attacking anything and anyone with little provocation needed. Psychotics in general should be avoided.

Image
Threat: High

A bandit gang that has gained considerable notoriety, the Vultures have become a plague far worse than the infection in post-Outbreak America. Not confined to any one local, this band of marauders is always on the hunt for new prey, laying waste to any group or settlement that has not the strength of the bribe to stand unscathed. While rumors of cannibalism have yet to be confirmed, it is common knowledge that the Vultures are avid slave drivers, both for manual work and other less virtuous tasks. One would be advised to steer clear of the Vultures, or any bandit group for that matter.

Elsewhere, the expedition continues north along Highway 82, stumbling across a Lurker den that is ultimately set ablaze by Cain. Foley is bitten. It's at this time that the Vultures stumble across the sight, Cain sacrificing himself to protect the others only for Jen to follow suit. Both are captured. Thomas rides after them only to be captured as well after his horse is shot and killed from under him. By evening the Vultures have arrived at Aspen, where Emperor Bill is shot during his speakings with Madison, the latter of which is killed in retaliation. Retreating, the Vultures capture Paulson, having gone after his daughter, Jen, and are soon ambushed by those seeking revenge. The ambush fails and the Vultures escape with their captives.

Year 27: Day 94
The Vultures return to Denver where most of the captives are treated to Emperor Bill's generous hospitality. Things quickly go wrong, however, and Erik Paulson is killed by the bandit leader, the others thrown into the arena to face an abomination for an entertaining death. Against all odds the mutated Brute is killed and Emperor Bill gravely wounded by Jen, Paulson's daughter. The survivors are summarily thrown into the slave pens while efforts are made to save the life of the bandit leader. Skeever, Emperor Bill's right-hand-man, impressed with Jen, offers her the opportunity to aid him in his planned coup. Elsewhere the remaining Aspen townsfolk make way for Junction, stopping for the night near Carbondale. Sera, unable to merely move on, leaves for Denver, joined by Luke, Foley, and the Walking Men.

Year 27: Day 103
The survivors of Aspen finally reach Grand Junction. However, all is not as it seems as the Mayor, Emanuel Watts, plans to use these new arrivals to guarantee the safety of the settlement against the Vulture war band. The outsiders are rounded up, detained, or scattered, leading to a tense conflict within the settlement with the bandit threat looming in the distance. Plans go awry as the Vultures raze the city, dooming Grand Junction. Those who can flee eastward towards the town of Salida, a stronghold of the Order of the Golden Dawn. The survivors are soon caught between two mighty powers.

Year 27: Day 104
The Vultures attack Salida. Neither side gains much ground and the battle quickly comes to a standstill. During the chaos, Sister Mary defects from the Order, escaping with her loyal followers and her son, Cain. Before the Vultures can gain momentum, Emperor Bill and most of his leadership is killed and the Vulture hierarchy thrown into disarray during a coup.

        Name: Sera Tallow
        Nation Name: Beiarusia
        Birthplace: Fargo, Wisconsin
        Ethnicity: Caucasian
        Age: 17

        Pic/Description:
Scrawny would be an apt description of Sera. Malnourished for most of her life, Sera is small framed and somewhat underdeveloped given her age, a trait which serves to further perpetuate her slight androgyny. Fair skinned and with soft features, a rounded face, crooked grin, and a small, pointed nose with faded freckles across the bridge. Copper hair, tousled, is sliced short and into a shaggy, pseudo-pixie/bob cut. Generally speaking, Sera looks very much like her mother, this being most evident with her icy blue eyes.

        Occupation: Scavenger

        Immunity: None

        (OPTIONAL)
        Personality:
Sera puts on a tough exterior to hide a sensitive soul that has suffered greatly throughout her life. Curious, mischievous, and prone to getting herself into trouble, Sera truly is kindhearted but has great difficulty in expressing her feelings, choosing instead to remain purposefully distant around those who may or may not understand her, something which has left her socially awkward . Profoundly affected by her mother's death, Sera is pessimistic and with little care for self preservation, willing to risk herself for what little gain there is to be had. Lives in the here and now with little to no thought for the future. Suffers from obsessive-compulsive disorder.

        Skills:
Good with her hands, Sera is quite handy and is capable of taking apart and, sometimes, repairing various mechanical and digital machinery if given enough time and access to the correct tools and/or parts, having learned by doing. Good with directions, cooking, and general housework such as cleaning, sewing, and organizing. Physically weak, Sera is both small enough and flexible enough to fit through many narrow spaces.

        Likes:
Organization and even numbers are something for which Sera strives for - her favorite number, for some odd reason, is 13. She likes tart foods, particularly fruit, exploring, and writing/drawing. Sera also enjoys all types of music despite being unable to carry a tune in a generously sized pale. Cleanliness, above average personal hygiene, long baths, and tidy areas.

        Dislikes:
Sera has a strong aversion to spicy foods, touching things or people with ungloved hands, boredom, and general dirt and grime.

        Fears:
Due to the traumatic events surrounding her mother's death, Sera suffers from Hemophobia (the Fear of Blood) and Erythrophobia (the Fear of the Colour Red). Other phobias have also presented themselves throughout the years including Eremophobia (the Fear of Being Alone), Nyctophobia (the Fear of the Dark), and Trypanophobia (the Fear of Needles). While not afraid of the Infected she does fear becoming infected herself and has often entertained the thought of suicide should this fear become a reality.

        Bio:
Despite the circumstances of her birth, Sera was always loved by her mother who went to great lengths to provide for the girl. Born in Fargo, Sera and her mother would live in a small settlement for several years, the girl being one of very few children. As winter encroached and food supplies became limited, a group broke away from the settlement and made to move south towards the Republic of Texas, Sera and her mother amongst them.

Things would not go well from the beginning. Disputes within the group would lead to constant arguments, finally fracturing outside of Omaha following harassment by a small bandit group. Splintered of their original strength, the group would decide to continue southward, their numbers dwindling as time went on. Things would only get worse as the few remaining neared Denver. The others consumed by infection, Sera and her mother would take shelter in a small home, the woman being fatally wounded in her effort to protect her daughter. It was at this time that the two were discovered by the scavengers Mercer and Drew, who promised the dying woman to protect the child. Burying the mother, Sera was taken back to Aspen.

Sera would spend the next ten years living in Aspen, becoming a scavenger alongside the two men who had rescued her. Though life has since been good to the girl the events of her mother’s death still haunts her to this day.

If he gets Foley I want Luke. (I understand if you say no.)

And, Bei, hate to be that guy, but it's the Dixie Confederation, not Richmond. Or if you just mean the city, not the faction.

        Meanwhile...
It was dark, but starry, when the boy on the black pony rode up to about fifty feet from the entrance to the so called, “Temple of Reason”.
“Prince Tamino!” he shouted. “I would reason with you! Bring out your magic flute and speak with me! The reason that you ought to do as I demand is that if you don’t, I will kill anyone and everyone who attempts to enter or leave The Temple of Reason!”
With subtle movements, the boy had the pony rear up and it’s whiney echoed it’s master’s challenge
In the space of a few minutes, a mature young man slowly paced out of the temple entrance while playing a flute of gold. The flautist’s eyes widened in confused fear as the boy on the pony pulled his bow out, knocked an arrow and drew it back on the bowstring.
The arrow sped across the distance to strike the flautist in his right hand and caused him to drop the instrument.
The boy on the pony rode up to the wounded man. “I said that I wanted to reason with you,” the boy stated. Putting his bow away, he reached into each of his ears and pulled out bits of beeswax.
“Now,” the boy pointed at the flute and continued, “that thing is a creation of superstition and magic. You may think that it needs to be kept from the eyes and ears of men, but it pollutes your temple and as soon as you were threatened, you reverted to superstition. So, it would be best if you handed it over to me, so that I can use it to destroy another item of superstition and magic. Finally, you should give it to me because I have the will, if not the desire, to kill you if you don’t see the strength of my argument."
Prince Tamino picked up the flute with his wounded hand and walked up to the boy on the pony. They were both wary. He knew that trickery and conflict would not be the wise course of action. He stretched out his arm and handed the flute to the boy.
“Take it and be damned!” the Prince spat.
“Too late for that,” the boy quietly replied. Taking the flute, he turned and rode away into the night.

Bio:Bio:Joseph Foley was born in Quantico,Virginia to Cpt. Timothy Foley, a instructor for the USMC OCS course in Quantico and Mary Foley, a clerk at the base exchange. Joseph grew up under the watchful eye of his father who slowly over the years molded him for military life via abuse, physical fitness and military related texts. Joseph upon turning seventeen enlisted into the United States Marine Corps with parental permission after graduating from high school. He went through boot camp and continued training as the star trainee earning multiple marksmanship and conduct awards. After training Foley was sent overseas where it took part in multiple combat raids against local insurgents and served with distinction. However, Foley was implicated in a massacre of over 118 civilians and while individually cleared; the unit was disbanded and it's marines sent to all corners of the world where marines were needed. Foley was sent to Camp Lejeune, where he was attached to the 2nd Marine Expeditionary Force.

When the infection spread through the world, a battalion of Marines was sent into Chicago to back up National Guard and Reserve units on site. Foley's unit was responsible for securing a field hospital but that was eventually overrun by infected and panicking citizens, both of whom caused Foley to be separated from his unit in the chaos and left the man cut off in Chicago surrounded by infected with only his weapons and mask standing between him and a painful death. Foley survived by sheer luck as he moved around the city, scavenging supplies before falling in with a group based out of a warehouse. However, this was short lived as he was attacked by Remnant forces and was cut off from the group after being cornered by a Lurker pack. Foley escaped and was later picked up by a Remnant advanced unit to assist in a Search and Retrieval mission that was being staged near Chicago. Events transpired and Foley was once again left cut off from his unit, however he was not alone as he was helped by a survivor from his previous group; a young girl named Sam.

The pair traveled north to reach the safety of what they hoped would be Alaska, but they never got that far north as they ran into a large pack of infected who attacked the pair. In the chaos Foley and Sam were separated; Foley searched for his companion for days but couldn't find her and gave her up for dead something which caused the already broken man to become more withdrawn. Foley eventually reached Alaska and commandeered a rather large lodge from it's owners who had killed themselves despite having a large stock of non-perishables. For a while Foley ate the canned food but as supplies ran out he began to hunt and scavenge for supplies. However, Foley came up with little and so began a journey south back to the United States; he wondered the once great nation for years moving from settlement to settlement, learning the patterns of the infected and how to survive in this new world as he moved without purpose and goals slowly south.

The two would establish themselves in a small town in the burgeoning Republic of Texas, a loose confederation of towns controlled by a small central government. Sarah would eventually become the town's sheriff while Erik continued working as an improvised doctor.

Sarah and Paulson married three years after the Outbreak first began, having their first child shortly thereafter. However, Sarah would die four years later from a gunshot wound and subsequent infection. Erik left the Republic, taking his daughter with him. The two wandered the wasteland for the better half of two decades, scavenging and surviving as best they could.

It is a character RP. There is no "nation descr." in the app, as far as I can tell.

For anyone wondering, I joined this website during my edgy teenage years. I made a lot of dumb, awkward posts, flip-flopped between various extreme ideologies, and just generally embarrassed myself. I denounce a sizable amount of my past posts. I am no longer active on NationStates and this nation/account is no longer used.

He went to St.Louis where he carved out a name for himself as a hero to the city establishing a small town on the outskirts. Her mother met Mary's Father again on a scavenging run and from there, The relationship bloomed until one day Jenkins (that was his name) married Jill (that was her name). He gave one of the few diamond rings around to her. From there her life was normal until her mother died. Jenkins was distraught and in a fit of insanity he took Mary and ran away from the town. He moved her to Colorado and made her live in the Forrest where she learned survival skills. A few years ago her father died and she moved to Aspen hoping to live a nicer life.
