Well, everything was easily forgiven.

What the blood was that secondary moral about all playing our part doing there? Is it supposed to symbolize the whole thing partly being everybody else's fault?

All in all, predictable but mostly safe episode.

I love this episode, I'm glad I got to see more of Cadance.

Also, I love the cute mare with the ushanka, where was she from again?

I think I heard whinneyapolis or something along those lines, it was definitely some pony pun of Minneapolis I can say that much.

It showed great characters, at least, like Cadence and Fancy Pants, I like that guy. I think the fur hat pony was from the pony version of Minneapolis.

After talking over it at breakfast with my parents, I found a critical snag in the episode.

Because of Twilight's condition, even when trying to sleep, it is somewhat doubtful that she could have made better decisions than Spike. And with the size of the summit making mere delay of anything a potential logistical nightmare, Spike was almost justified taking on the decision making.

They should have made the symbolism of putting together the statue more obvious to emphasize the blame that is really shared by everyone in this episode (that is, not compromising by themselves for any disputes, not foreseeing potential hazards in putting a somewhat immature dragon in charge, etc.) rather than tacking it on after he fessed up to being power-drunk. That should have been the primary moral, not the hell of good intentions.

I thought the episode was... okay at best. It had problems that were kinda balanced out by the good parts, but not entirely.

However, something I can't help but think about.

The water main and the trees falling were a result of noise. Something that wouldn't wake twilight up if Anybody had thought of one thing. Earmuffs. Ear plugs. Anything like that! Wouldn't have solved all the episodes problems, but still.

Also, no wonder Equestria doesn't really have many dragons. You try to sleep on a mountain and they evict you, and they have trees that cause severe allergic reactions in only your species. Allergic reactions that make you breath fire, and are a public safety hazard. Trees in the capital city no less!

At least the montage of spike abusing power was short.
I enjoy role-playing and ponies. I'm also descended from French kings, English kings, and Vikings. Can't speak anything other than English though.

Current catchphrase: "keep on keepin' on."

Not entirely true. The fall of the tree was caused by a stray polo ball.

Further, Spike also had the equally critical role of informing everypony that tried to contact her that Twilight couldn't be disturbed. Earmuffs can't really do that.

EDIT: Well, yes, they could have put up a sign... but I think many people would feel better about having somebody rather than some thing tell them that, especially for important positions and issues like as seen, because there is at least a chance if a really important issue came up, it would be easier to arouse the sleeper.

I haven't seen the episode and somehow I knew it was going to be a Spike Pity Party episode.

Those Princesses are very lenient, tell you what. Forgiveness is good, I guess. But I also wish that Twilight would give him time-out in a cage. I understand that they need to teach a moral for the kiddies, but come on at least develop his character, he's already learned that he matters, especially to his master. He no longer needs to prove himself, unless he wants to prove himself to be annoying.

My main problem with Spike is 1) How many Pity Party episodes have we had now? I count at least 3-4 at this point. Even when he's not throwing a pity party for himself he's just annoying. He's not that good of a comic relief and his crush on Rarity is boring at this point. C'mon, either have the crush go somewhere or have Rarity crush his little dragon heart and spirit. Personally I prefer the latter. Spike is just....not a good character anymore.

He's just sidekick kid with an inferiority complex. They have not addressed the crush in a while, but they downplayed it. Let's be honest, a fully grown woman would Never date a little boy (unless she's a pedo, which Rarity is not). I guess she knows that he can be a helpful friend, but I'm sure he'd outgrow the crush someday, if he ever grows up.
But really, he tries to be a good minion, but he tries too much and he always fails because the universe hates him, and he is starting to undergo Flanderization, so Spike episodes shall be thae weakest episodes. Poor bastard.

Yeah I can't knew right from the start when they framed the episode issue with Spike looking after something that it was going to follow the exact same recipe as the previous spike episodes that have covered similar ground.
yawn

Honestly it's not Spike's fault the writers want to make episodes featuring him, he's definitely better served as an aide to helping out Twilight and making odd jokes.

Yea, I'd have to agree. I think the writers need to stop featuring him in episodes and just have him be a wacky butler or something. Kind of like Geoffrey from Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.

I didn't really like it. Only new thing we learned is that Twilight sucks at delegating. I mean where the hell are the mane 6? "friendship council". Also spike need to fuck off or something.
