Avila VII announces support for Emmerian-led intervention in Bogoria

Emperador Avila VII announced his support for the Emmerian and CDI efforts in Bogoria

Dinsar – Astrid: Emperador Vitor Antón Avila addressed the nation this afternoon announcing his support for the Emmerian-led actions in Bogoria and stated that Temuair would "stand firm behind the Central Defense Initiative as its members attempt to restore peace and order to the war torn nation."

President Vaziri announced May 11th that the United Republic of Emmeria would begin actively supporting the government forces of Bogoria. Shortly after the President's address, the United Republic Air Force initiated Operation Twilight Flare and involves large scale strikes against rebels targets within Bogoria. According to President Vaziri's statement, these airstrikes are being launched to "support the Oured ceasefire agreement, signed on behalf of the militants by Rodarion." an agreement both sides claim has been broken with fighting continuing around the Rakovnik Enclave and areas west of Librantowa. On April 14th, a surface to surface missile struck a field hospital near Plowy, killing 188 people. On April 28, The Office for Inter-Services Intelligence, Rodarion's primary external intelligence agency, released a report claiming the Bogorian government purposefully targeted the hospital, though these claims have been disputed by Emmeria and other CDI-allied nations. To date, no third party investigation has been conducted. Fighting resumed around Rakovnik on May 5th and has been ongoing. According to President Vaziri's statement, the majority of the Emmeria airstrikes were centered around Rakovnik in support of the embattled government forces.

Even before Avila VII took office in December of 2014, the Aisling government had announced its support for the Republic of Bogoria and has consistently refused to recognize the proclaimed Christian Republic of Bogoria as a legitimate government. Earlier this week, he urged the Chamber of Burgesses to support him in lending "any and all support" to the ongoing CDI efforts in Bogoria. Though the aount and type of support Avila VII intends is unknown at this time, the possibility of military action has not been ruled out. However, Defense Minister Rodrigo Breixo Lua stated that it would be "highly unlikely" that the United Republic would request, or even desire, military assistance in this case.

Political analyst Dores Barcia from the Luathas Academy in Abel remarked on the situation, stating "No one can deny that organizations within Rodarion, such as the Association of the Immaculate Heart, have been assisting the displaced people of a war torn nation and that not all of the Rodarion involvement in Bogoria is negative. However, it can also not be denied that the Rodarion has a vested interest in seeing the so-called Christian Republic of Bogoria succeed, thereby becoming an extension of the Papal governments will. "

Political critics of Emperador Avila, particularly members of the Homefront Party, criticized the Emperador's announcement. Party leader Anxo Cordeiro told Imperial Novas "Why? There's no reason for us to involve ourselves in what is literally occurring across the planet. We have no interest in Bogoria, or who controls it, we have no interest in Rodarion's actions in that part of the world. We're not a member of CDI, nor do we ever plan to be, and so we should not care about their efforts to pacify a nation that ultimately does not matter to us."

Minister Branca Iria Freire of the Gliocan Temple and chief administrator of Glioca's Way, a non-profit charity organization and part of the Gliocan Temple operating both inside Temuair and internationally, slammed both leaders comments. "Its not our fight, and we should not participate in it. However to dismiss the suffering of the downtrodden, the displaced, and the disheveled as "not our problem" flies in the face of everything Glioca has taught us. It must not stand. I implore our leaders to not involve themselves in senseless violence and instead offer a hand in peace and friendship to the suffering souls of Bogoria."

In Febuary 2015, Noela Noya, a reporter working for Imperial Novas, was kidnapped while en route to Librantowa by Bogorian rebels while working as a corespondent in Bogoria. She remains missing, though the Bogorian government claims to be continuing the search. Her parents Lino and Catarina Noya stated that they remain hopeful that she will return home safely, and that they would support an intervention into Bogoria.

The air strikes have resulted in a further 100,000 Bogorians fleeing into Rodarion, causing concern that the PRR lacks the resources to aid them.

Consul Ceausescu has declared the Emmerian led intervention in Bogoria as a "a conflict between justice and tyranny" and denounced the "coalition" of waging a campaign against the universality of the right to self determination. His launched the criticism at a solidarity rally in Rosorii de Vede, where he was joined by almost 300,000 people, waving Bogorian and Rodarian flags. And Foreign Minister Basescu denounced Temuair's King Avila VII's decision to back the Emmerian action, saying "we regret to say that if a single Aisling aircraft takes part in this criminality we will have to reconsider our bilateral relationship and its corresponding agreements and treaties."

At the midday solidarity rally in Rosorii de Vede, Consul Ceausescu gave his most impassioned and critical speech over the Emmerian intervention in Bogoria to date, before a supportive and cheering crowd, he declared, "the Emmerian intervention in Bogoria is not about defending some piece of paper, it is a conflict between justice and tyranny. Sadly the Emmerians are the masters of the tyrant and the innocent people of Bogoria, north and south must now fight for justice they so rightfully deserve." The crowd which numbered just over 300,000 took the rally with euphoric energy, waving the flags of Bogoria and Rodarion, portraits of his Holiness Pope Constantine and banners denouncing the pilots as "winged servants of the devil" and "godless monsters", many also carried a popular sign saying "bomb me instead, spare Bogoria".

Speaking on Consul Ceausescu denounced the rising number of states joining the cause, "I say to these governments, why do you join this cause? Do you do so through fear of disobeying Oured? Do you do so by some misplaced fear and phobia of Rodarion? Or do you do so under the assumption that this cause is right and just? Well the latter is utterly false, this air campaign is nothing more than a violent campaign against the universality of the right to self determination. No nation, no head of state or government can make this right exclusive to one group over another, it is universal for all mankind. In time, when these events turn to history, people will look back upon this disturbing event and see nations, not guided by principle, but guided by arrogance and a sense of moral supremacy, blinded by such abhorrent traits that it resulted in the death of innocent men, women and children on a unnecessary scale" he said.

Anger continues to fester and grow within the Papal Republic, three people were arrested at the protest outside the Emmerian embassy as they attempted to throw petrol bombs over its walls, they will be held in police custody until their court hearing. Individual groups have sprung up across the Papal Republic, with many calling for citizens to boycott Emmerian goods, several car showrooms were damaged last night, after a series of break-ins in Voluntari, all cars of Emmerian origin were turned over onto their sides or smashed up, the Interior Ministry has been authorised to order the police to detain anyone for three weeks in detention without a court hearing if they are caught conducting vandalism, however many NCP Senators have stated they doubt the police will be able to stop this entirely due to the rising storm of anti-Emmerian sentiment.

The Consul also issued a direct warning to the Bogorian government in his address, "should the Bogorian armed forces make use of this diplomatic travesty, we will feel no other urge than to offer our defence to the aspiring masses of Bogoria, who aim to free themselves of corruption, ceaseless servitude to a cabal of oligarchs and racialism. Never in the history of Lusankya has one nation suffered such tragedy and violence in such a short space of time, by such international action. If the nations of so called free Pardes are willing to wage war upon the right of self determination, then we shall wage war to protect it in Bogoria, that is our warning and our final word on such a matter." His direct warning to the Bogorian government received a thunderous roar of support from the crowd, to which the Consul simply nodded in humble acceptance of the people's support for the cause of self determination.

At press conference in Romula, Foreign Minister Mircea Basescu denounced King Avila VII's decision to offer Emmeria, Temuair's backing in its war on self determination. The Aisling declaration of support has fuelled further anger in the Senate, with hundreds of Senators demanding the recent OSEN-RCO agreement be scrapped, the calls came from the National Catholic Party, National Democratic Party and even the Rodarian Socialist Party.

Emmerian air strikes struck rebel positions south of Nowy Targ, the rebels have
been honest on their losses. The UBLF has stated that at least 189
of its fighters have been killed so far.

"The Aisling King's decision has produced a feeling of shock and disappointment across the Papal Republic. So soon after an historic agreement was made in Dinsmar, the host government has already disrespected its meaning by encouraging this criminality" he said, what has caused further fury is the King's blatant hypocrisy.

"What we find more troubling is the fact that OSEN and by extension Temuair has made very clear that it does not wish to see foreign influence in Skandera or the east in general, that was accepted and agreed by this government in Dinsmar, yet the King extends the clenched fist of Temuair from Skandera into our own backyard, I seriously question his Majesty's cognitive process on this matter.

"Is it not clear to the decent people of mankind that the world has transformed in a matter of days, where the aggressor is now the victim and the victim is now the opulent, vicious aggressor? How the downtrodden and dispossessed rising up against a highly enriched minority are now the vicious monsters and the corrupt tyrannical elite are the victims? The Arthuristans would dismiss this argument and deem the rebels a band of terrorists, indeed what happened in Utena was a criminal act, yet 180 people does not equal the 4,000 killed as a result of the government's war on the south, we know who the real terrorists are. This is a truly troubled and disturbed world we now live in, truly this the world we live in" the Minister said.

Yet Foreign Minister Basescu addressed the Aisling government directly saying, "we regret to say that if a single Aisling aircraft takes place in this criminality, we will have no choice but to reconsider our bilateral relationship and its corresponding agreements and treaties. We cannot tolerate this betrayal and assault upon the Papal Republic's natural sphere of influence by a government so eager to regionalise influences of foreign nations, a sad day indeed."

The Ministry of the Interior this morning revealed that over 100,000 people had crossed into the Papal Republic seeking refuge since air strikes began, the Ministry denied reports that it would seek international assistance, saying on its website that "requesting the assistance of international partners, who now seem to be supporting the air strikes against these very people, would be inappropriate and insulting, the Papal Republic can sufficiently care for these dispossessed souls, so help us God."

OURED, D.A., United Republic — Hundreds of bombs were dropped by coalition aircraft in the skies above Bogoria over the past three days, with the strikes primarily focused around the southern Bogorian town of Rakovnik. The Rakovnik Air Force Base, under militant control, was declared as a major target of many strikes in a U.R. Air Force press release last night.

In the midst of these developments, United Republic President Alex Vaziri, who greenlighted the strikes on Monday May 11, defended the UR/CDI-led intervention in the Bogorian Civil War that has claimed the lives of thousands of innocent people.

"The [Bogorian] Civil War is not just a problem for the Bogorian people, it is a problem for the entire international community," he said during a statement before reporters. "For too long the international community has stood by and watched the Bogorian conflict spiral out of control. It's finally time the international community did something."

Later, he added: "We took the initiative and built a ceasefire agreement and we signed in this town. The Bogorian militants ignored it. Their actions and provocation is what led not to the conflict's amelioration as we envisioned, but rather its blatant exacerbation. Rodarion, in the midst of all of its rhetoric, was a major contributor. It did not reign in the rebels as it promised. It did not end its clearly visible armed support for those militants despite international pressure. And now, it attacks our attempts of enforcing the cease fire by criticizing coalition initiatives as 'tyrannical', when what we advocate and fight for is a peaceful, representative Bogorian government."

"It is up to the international community to decide in this instance. We are going to continue to launch strikes as long as we deem the militants capable of breaking the cease fire. I appeal to the international community to support this ceasefire treaty and push for the peace and the stability that the Bogorian people deserve. Bogoria's war is a global problem, and it needs a truly global solution: that is what we are after."

OPA involvement?

In accordance with the president's statements, United Republic ambassador to the OPA Alina Kapustina introduced a new resolution to the floor calling for a transparent, international humanitarian aid program.

"The previous efforts at international aid were mired in controversy," Ambassador Kapustina told reporters during a briefing at the OPA headquarters in Chaleur. "Guns and weapons aren't humanitarian aid. This is our attempt at building the first truly international and, most of all, transparent and collaborative program to show our commitment to supporting the Bogorian people."

Later during her statements, she said: "I sincerely hope that the nations of the international community can rise above their petty differences and do what's right."

In a statement released by the United Republic Department of Defense, the UR military promised to support the international humanitarian mission.

"In accordance with the resolution, should it be passed, the United Republic military will provide assistance, free escort, and protection to all OPA-sanctioned organizations providing humanitarian aid, should they request it," the statement read.

Reports suggest insurgents taking severe damage

Reports from several sources have indicated that the Bogorian militants are being hit hard by the airstrikes. One militant source said the UBLF, the primary organization comprising the militants, has lost 189 fighters. Warren is unable to independently verify these claims.

A statement released by the CDI said: "Operation Allied Guardian, the umbrella operation for all coalition airstrikes in Bogoria, has caused the death of an estimated 250-300 insurgent fighters."

Most of the fighters that have been killed were operating in and around the city of Rakovnik, a major epicenter for fighting between rebels and government forces.

Civilian casualty estimates vary widely. The UR Department of Defense said "10-15 civilian casualties have occurred as collateral damage during the execution of the strikes, based on available intelligence and sources on the ground." The statement also said "the U.R. military is highly selective in identifying targets to ensure minimum collateral damage and minimum civilian loss of life."

The Bogoria Relief Association, an independent grassroots organization dedicated to conducting accurate counts of deaths in the Bogorian Civil War, released differing estimates. "From current sources, 20-25 civilians have been killed and almost 50 hospitalized with major and minor injuries due to coalition airstrikes," its statement said.

The same statement later highlighted a single strike as a major factor. "About 11 civilians died during a coalition strike Wednesday evening on a church."

The Defense Department clarified Wednesday night that the church in question was being used as a weapons depot. The statement also expressed condolences for innocent people that it claimed were "being used by Bogorian militants as human shields."

The international context: building a coalition

Several CDI nations have become involved in CDI's Operation Allied Guardian, the organization's umbrella term for the Bogoria airstrikes. The UR DoD's term for the operation is "Operation Twilight Flare".

However, some corners of the CDI have expressed a reluctance. Eagleland, due to its complicated political situation and upcoming elections, has declined to participate according to CDI sources. Most sources suggest it may be due to the time on Eagleland's election cycle as well as recent experiences in New Pontus, an Eaglelander overseas territory that was violently seized by the Ankaran Union.

Other countries have also reacted. Temuair's Emperador Avila VII applauded the strikes, saying the strikes were a constructive "attempt to restore peace and order to the war torn nation [of Bogoria]", according to Aisling press.

Neidmar's Prime Minister George Hess expressed concern over the crisis, encouraging "level calm heads" to take control and ensure the airstrikes do not spiral into an all-out war between Rodarion and the United Republic, two of the world's premier powers.

Traditional RCO strongholds in Tarsas and Estovakiva strongly derided the strikes, with Rodarian press painting the strikes as being inhumane and supporting an unjust cause.

Ulthrannia, another RCO member, did not actively comment on the strikes. Hidden in the shadow of President Vaziri's Bogoria intervention, Ulthrannia launched a major invasion of the Ashizwean country of Albiya. International organizations, civil rights groups, and world leaders, particularly those leading the CDI, were quick to denounce Ulthrannia's actions as a breach of international law and, according to one anonymous official, a "blatant power-grab by the Ulthrannian emperor and [Ulthrannian Vicar Octavio] de Fey, and a blatant assertion of Ulthrannian neoimperialism, colonialism, and ultranationalism." The Ulthrannian government could not be reached for comments.

President Vaziri has continued to lobby for international support. He gave another speech in Wewick, Kawiicha yesterday asking the international community to help. "I cannot reiterate more the importance of us all, as a single community, to band together to help enforce this ceasefire and bring about negotiations to establish a lasting Bogorian peace."

Kalenia Joins UR-led Coalition
By Hilary Welker (@H_WelkerANI)
May 16, 2015

Erikson D.E, Kalenia-

Less than a day after President Vaziri announced that the United Republic had begun conducting air strikes against rebel targets in Bogoria, Kalenia, the far-east ally of Emmeria and a CDI member as well, announced that its military had also began to conduct sorties throughout Bogoria. Assets of the Kalenian Air Force, most notably the B-1 long range bomber, a wing-style stealth bomber, targeted several areas throughout the Bogorian town of Rakovnik. The most notable target was Rakovnik Air Force, which is believed to be a major base of operations for the militant forces.

Despite being a member of the Central Defense Initiative, many members of Kalenia's enate are opposed to the military actions that Emmeria has commenced. Speaking on behalf of an opposition force, Senator Todd Martinez stated: "Bogoria has the right to rebel and establish a new form of government should it choose to do so. We did it, many nations have done it. So why can't Bogoria? The only thing that is being created in the wake of this crisis are rising tensions between CDI and RCO countries. Emmeria and Rodarion, the world's two preeminent powers are looking as if a war will ensue. Had all of us kept out of Bogoria's business, then perhaps we wouldn't be in this situation today. Perhaps coalition airstrikes would not be happening? Regardless, should Vaziri have authorized the attacks to protect a nonexistant ceasefire? No, he shouldn't have. Rather, he should have just pulled out. Bogoria is better off being left alone."

Most of the senate responsed with verbal applause after learning of the airstrikes. Many were cited saying that the airstrikes were "justified" and would help "stabilize" the war-torn region. The bombings mark the first major military involvement since the 2007 Skyrades Island Crisis in which assets of the Eagleland Republic and the Kalenian Republic fought one another, with the Eaglelanders emerging victorious. The senate, following the Emmerian air strikes, approved Peris' request to extend a timetable for Kalenian military involvement, which subsequently led to several air strikes by Kalenian assets in Bogoria.

In other news, the Department of Defense is closely monitoring Ulthrannia's recent movements against the Federal Republic of Albiya in which the Ulthrannic military has launched a massive invasion. Ulthrannia and Kalenia have both been at odds since 1802 when Kalenia won its independence. As a proponent of a free Ashizwe and a further proponent for the end of colonization around the world, the government and its people can only hope its Ulthrannian mothers desist and return home before possible military intervention is exercised. Should a conflict ensue, it could spark a massive RCO-CDI war in its aftermath. This, of course, is something neither nation is willing to commit to. The only hope for now is that a diplomatic solution can be found.

The invasion was described as a 'breach of peace' and 'unlawfully hideous.' President Peris was quoted: "We will do everything in our power to halt the advancement of the Ulthrannic forces." Peris has reached out to de Fey and Ulthrannia's emperor in an effort to establish diplomatic functions. There has been no response. The Peris Administration has also reached out to other Ashizwean nations to encourage them to take a stand against Ulthrannic Imperialism.

Rebel leader Wislaw Sokal (R) is joined by Consul Ceausescu (C) and Proconsul Alexandrescu (L) as he greets Senators

Bogorian rebel political leader, Wislaw Sokal arrived in Romula earlier this evening, joined by the senior political leaders of the rebellion, after being evacuated by Rodarian special forces, over fears that the Emmerian Coalition of Tyranny would conduct political assassinations through air strikes. After entering Rodarion, Sokal was flown to Romula where he was invited to speak before the Senate in a special session, he was personally greeted by Consul Ceasuescu and Proconsul Alexandrescu, who then introduced him to the 700 Senators. Sokal's speech provoked an outpouring of grief in the chamber, with several Senators brought to tears. The Foreign Ministry's spokesman stated that the rebel leadership would be offered a safe haven in Rodarion until the air strikes ceased.

According to a government statement released this evening, the decision to extract the rebel leadership was taken hours after the air strikes began, according to the statement, "many in the senior leadership feared that the Emmerians would use their immoral air attacks to wipe out the rebel leaders from the skies, the Papal Republic would not stand by and watch political assassinations rob the aspiring freedom fighters lose their best thinkers and speakers."

Seven Rodarian special forces personnel were transported to Sobotka by a civilian marked helicopter, who then proceeded to evacuate 6 members of the Bogorian Liberation and Reconciliation Council, the supreme political body of the rebellion. They then traveled by road in a Association of the Immaculate Heart truck, back to the Papal Republic, arriving in the city of Caicova, wherethe BLRC excluding Sokal were transported by plane to a Papal residence in the Apostle Valleys, Sokal was flown to Romula for his Senate address. Minister of Defence and Homeland Security, Field Marshal Ionatan Codreanu praised the operation as "flawless and blessed by God to succeed, we must be thankful that these precious souls are safe from such a undignified threat. We had to conduct this move with such little time and without much intelligence gathering or preparation, yet we do so successfully, a testament to the preparedness of the Papal Armed Forces. "

Upon arrival at Saint Viktor International Airport, Wislaw Sokal was driven to the Senate building where he was greeted by Consul Ceausescu and Proconsul Alexandrescu, upon entering the chamber, he received a standing ovation from every Senator present. Metsin messages by Senators indicates that Sokal was taken aback by his welcome, one NCP Senator messaged; "today a true hero walks these halls, a hero of the dispossessed and the lonely", a Green Party Senator messaged; "one cannot help but feel a great awe for this man, a man who chose to stand up, stand up against the fascist oligarchs, but also Vaziri's machines of death".
The revolutionary's speech to the Senate was televised live to the Rodarian nation, in which the drained looking man gave an emotionally charged speech.

"Today, I stand in a foreign land, in a foreign building, surrounded by strangers, kind strangers granted" he joked.

"Yet whilst I stand here, bombs made in a further away land kill my brothers, my sisters, my sons and daughters. I stand safe in the warm embrace of this great nation, whilst my nation burns and crumbles. My nation shudders with every explosion, with every bang and boom, children sob, women scream and men cry. To those in the sky fighting a war they do not understand or aim to understand, I say this. You are not human, you are not an animal, you are nothing. You merely an agent of death, an agent of destruction, not only do you destroy men who never meant you or your family harm, you destroy a nation's chance to survive, a nation's chance for true happiness and prosperity.

"To you, we are just blips on the green ground below, ants if you will, to bombed into oblivion. Whilst you, you are the droning death, the humming killer, the hidden murderer. To you we are just targets in a training exercise, we cannot shoot at you, we cannot harm you, yet you kill us. You take our sons, our daughters, our wives, our mothers, our elders, our husbands, our sisters and brothers, you have the ultimate power. Yet, do not be mistaken, you may take our families and our friends, but you will not take what it means to be Bogorian, what it means to be fighting for the right to live a decent life, what it means to fight for your very survival. You know nothing of us or our struggle, but that is the problem in this world with regards to my nation and I'll explain.

"President Vaziri, Prime Minister Whittaker, the man in Eagleland and Temuair, they do not care what we fight for, they don't want to care, because what they see as the democratic legitimate government being under attack, we see the truth. Vaziri has lived a different life, as has the man in the F-10, to us ethnic Poles. We have suffered constructed economic difficulty, we have suffered political marginalisation, employment discrimination, educational discrimination, religious discrimination. Yet we do not fight a separatist cause, we fight a revolutionary one. Because for all the woe that north and south suffer from one another, we share one woe and that is the corrupt elite. Who rape and pillage our nation for its resources and money, accumulate it and do not give back to those who dug it out of the ground for them. The money we give to fund our children's future through education, does not reach the schools, it does not reach the hospitals, the railways, the mines, the gas fields, the roads and bridges, it reaches the casinos, the mansions, the extravagant festivals of sexual depravity and incestuous vagrancy that plagues our most decadent oligarchs.

"Yes we want independence, but we want national independence from the oligarch parasite. We want it for ethnic Pole, Czech, Latvian and Lithuanian, because we are all Bogorian. But the man in the F-10 does not know this, because we are terrorists, he does not know this because we did not honour the Oured Agreement, the truth is, we did honour the Oured Agreement, but something happened. Plowy happened.

"When I heard the news that almost 200 men and women had been killed at a field hospital, I jumped into a car and drove from Sobotka to Plowy, there I helped pick away rubble to find survivors, we didn't. What we found were injured men, murdered in their sleep, on the operating table, on the bed strapped up, bandaged up, tied to an IV drip, on the bed dying with dignity. I remember so clearly, lifting away rocks, tiles and what have you and I remember feeling a hand and I looked down and I saw a fair face, a woman's face. I saw that she had the most blackest of hair, with white along her fringe, but then it dawned on me, this was hair, this was a habit, this fair woman was a nun, her blue eyes staring at me, her torso in two. This innocent woman of God, who had come to this place from this great nation, died doing nothing but offering the dying a chance to do so with dignity. That is when the ceasefire ended, that is when we felt the renewed fury that unleashed this war.

"We cannot stop these airstrikes, if the immoral gangs want to bomb us and kill us they will. This was our chance, our only chance to truly liberate Bogoria from the shackles of servitude to the most sickening of cabal of sinners. To finally free ourselves of their constructed racialist agenda, to finally stand hand in hand before the horizon of the future and face it together, all Bogorians, as Bogorians. Yet with every bomb, every missile, that chance dies a little, every rebel who is killed by the man in the F-10, our chance for freedom dies. The cabal of sinners is winning, it persuaded the weak man in Oured to bomb us, now he draws the weak moths of the free world to aid in our massacre.

"I see now, that we Poles cannot lead the way in Bogorian liberation, we Bogorians are not allowed to experience self determination, we must forever be prisoner to the greed of the tiny few, we must forever be the people of Lusankya, who see the light of God yet never feel his warmth, we are to be bombed, shot, stabbed and raped, we are to be oppressed, we are to die. If the free world is mighty enough to bomb those without freedom, to kill them, to desecrate them, then who is to fight the oppressor? It must be the righteous, it must be the forthright, it must be the Kingdom of God, thank you and I ask that you pray not for me, but for those I left behind, in that dark, burning prison, pray for them."

Sokal received a five minute long ovation from the senate, all were on their feet. He humbly waved, but not smiling, he received the adoration like a servant doing his duty, but what he may have done is unleash the deepest held fury in this country, he may have paved the road for the Papal Army, straight to Utena. As he said, as every bomb bursts, his nation dies a little, here in the Papal Republic, with bomb bursting, the caged beast of rage, grows that little bit stronger and larger, sooner or later Bogoria will die at the hands of the Coalition of Tyranny, or the rage within the Papal Republic will burst forth, like a tidal wave that wipe Bogoria bare of its sinful masters.

Neidmar Officially Joins OSEN
Prime Minister announces that OSEN will open up new markets to Neidmar and promote Neidmarrian Goods throughout Pardes.

Andreias Kless | 18th May 2015

Earlier today outside in the courtyard of the House of commons infront of the White Tree, Priminister George Hess officially announced Neidmars membership to the Organisation of South Eastern nations. Stating that: "OSEN will bring about new oppertunities for everyone in Neidmar and help promote Neidmarrian goods throughout pardes.". Whilst this may not come as a suprise to many of you it has been quitely circulating that Neidmar had become a member of OSEN since early last month, It is a shock that it has taken this long for the Government to make an offical statement on the matter. With the Bogorian Crisis in the North and Tensions still someone strained between the RCO and OSEN many in the cabinet will have been feeling somewhat nervous, especially since several Neidmarrian companies had just received contracts to begin building green energy infrastructure to help support Rodarion Agriculture.

It is quite possible that many in the Neidmarrian government feel that with the current situation in world politics could put Neidmar at the receiving end of and RCO barrel something that very few in the higher echelons of Neidmar Relish. However so far the tensions have not seemed to stop Prime Minister Hess from reaching out to nations of the world to renegotiate trade deals for more favourable ones. The recent activity has already seen a small up tick in the Neidmarrian economy with it growing 0.2% in the last quarter. Where as it had slumped almost 0.5% the quarter before, the quick action of the Cabinate seemed to have stemmed a economic crash atleast for the moment.

However many independent analysts fear that whilst the economic up swing is nice and positive they feel the current Crisis's facing the world could bring Neidmar into unnecessary conflict something that many feel the economy did not need at the current time. Bogoria has put many people on edge in recent days with the continuation of bombing by CDI forces and Avila VII of Temuair (an OSEN member) support of Emmeria's has once again put the Political strain between OSEN and RCO member nations, even after successful talks in the past few weeks in an attempt to alleviate them.

During Prime Ministers question time today many of the Hawks asked why Neidmar was not more involved in the Bogorian crisis to begin with and asked what Prime Minister Hess intended todo about the strain between OSEN and the RCO now that it directly affected the country. Many Expected Hess to go the way of his predisessors and announce the Military to gon high alert and the state of emergancy be renewed on the nation, but instead he opted for a different route stating that he intened to protect the country in a different manner. Through good relations and the proliferation of prosperity, he went onto mention the recent deal between Rodarion and many Green Energy Infrastructure companies to supply the equipment needed to generate sustainable green energy for much of the Rodarion Agriculture industry along the border between Neidmar and Rodarion that the government helped broker. The deal is estimated to be worth atleast a billion Narrian to the Neidmarrian economy, the Priminister stated that if we offered the fruits of cooperation in an effort to foster peace Neidmar would be much more secure politically and economically and would hopefully show other nations the light in how to settle differences in a more productive manner. He did however go on to say that should the situation worsen between OSEN and the RCO then he would not hesitate to call upon Neidmars military to protect its interests.

Many see Hess as a maverick especially in the government, airing more on the Progressive side rather than the conservative side of center right politics, Hess has repeatedly shown that he is not like his predicessors and clearly doesnt want to keep the status quo that currently exists in Neidmar and Neidmarrian politics. Whilst his action have made him popular with the people he has made some enemies within the coalition many of whom may make trouble for him later on down the line. Prime Minister Hess has proven himself to be a capable politican on the International Stage but it remains to be scene how he can handle the internal politics of the Grand Coalition.

Albiyan defensive positions are annihilated in a missile strike

Dacia Cohort Moves Out: Tarsas Pledges to Back Up Her Ally

In an unprecedented mobilization, the Tarsan forces stationed in Dacia along with forces from the mainland moved through her RCO ally of Ulthrannia into the Ashwizan nation of Albiya today. Emperor Romulus X authorized the invasion to begin this morning, May 19, at 0300 hours.

Under the leadership of Lord Marshall Julius Haelian Agrippa, the ITNS Victorus launched multiple air strikes of Na-6 fighters that hit Albiyan the port city of Antaluzia in northern Albiya and confirmed the sinking of four destroyers, caught by surprise in their births. Legionary seaborne forces quickly captured the city's port facilities, overwhelming the small garrison that managed to rouse.

The five thousand men of the Dacia Cohort, along with several Armored formations from Dacia, overwhelmed the Albiyan defenders, driving them from the port. The announcement of Operation Ashwize Phalanx quickly followed the attack.

Agrippa has confirmed that he will be fortifying the port and utilising the HQ as his official headquarters. A separate force under Legionary Marshall Venus Alraea Calixtos launched a second attack with the full mechanized and armored forces of the 5th Legion, known as "Lion", and has began a full strength push into northern Albiya from the Ulthrannic border near southern border of the Commonwealth.

Tarsan T13125 Atlos tanks began to push into several bordering villages, finding little to no resistance and quickly covering vast swaths of territory. The Lion Legion has covered confirmed over two hundred kilometres while being supported by Ulthrannic air strikes. At the current rate of advance, they are expected to meet up with forces in Antaluzia in as little as four to five days.

Tarsan strategists have surmised that the vast majority of the Albiyan forces are concentrated in the southern portion of the country in an effort to contain the Ulthrannic forces there.

The Imperator class cruisers Octavian I and Diocetus I have both been spotted off of Northern Albiya by many sources . Reports of multiple supersonic cruise missile strikes on military targets in Northern Albiya have been reported by sources on the ground.

It is estimated that of the one third of Albiya's military power situated in the northern portion of the country, over half has been annihilated by a combination of air strikes, naval strikes, and by advancing forces in only the first day. Over 1,159 casualties on the Albiyan side have been confirmed, with far less verified among Tarsan forces. Advancing forces are expected to capture the large city of Qa-Laruk in north central Albiya as early as the end of the week.

Six confirmed enemy military weapons storage locations were destroyed as well as the vast majority of the air defense sites around Qa-Laruk. The military has proudly reported that civilian casualties have been kept to a minimum.

Experts, including our foreign politics expert Galia Varulas, agree that this move did not come as a surprise. With the consolidation of the disputed zone and many old rivalries out of the way, the old families of Tarsas and Ulthrannia are eager to put differences aside and work towards a common goal.

"The world thinks that this ancient feud can never be resolved. Both Romulus and Carlos have seen that it is time to put aside petty differences and cooperate against tyranny.". We will keep you updated as events progress.

Military Parade Preparations Continue Amid Criticism From Left, Others

Image
Type 88 tanks of the 1st Armored Brigade (Kobe) rehearse in a drill field in Kobe in this file photo. Elements of the military, including heavy weaponry, have been included in the annual National Foundation Day parade scheduled for 17th June.

Saikyo In a defiant speech before the Imperial Diet, Prime Minister Nakamura Shinichiro defended plans to include elements of the military in the annual National Foundation Day parade and celebrations set for the middle of next month. The parade, scheduled for 17 June, marks the first time since the conclusion of the Great Eastern War in 1948 that significant elements of the military have marched under arms in a civic parade.

In remarks before the Diet this afternoon, Nakamura chastised the opposition United Progressive Party for "weakness" and said that it was "time for Prestonians to stop fearing their own military."

"Our military provides an invaluable service to the realm and its people, which must be respected and recognized in the same way as we recognize our civic heroes," Nakamura said today, referencing the Emperor's presentation of awards to civilians for civic excellence on the National Foundation Day. "We cannot let the ghosts of our past haunt the present, where the military is concerned."

Nakamura's remarks come amid a flurry of controversy surrounding an earlier decision to incorporate military forces into the annual parade celebrating National Foundation Day. The holiday, which celebrates the mythic god-emperor Hinobi's assumption of the Imperial Treasures and thus the Throne, is typically celebrated through cultural parades and celebrations, while the main parade in Saikyo traditionally features traditionally-dressed members of the Imperial Guard; the upcoming parade is the first since 1943 to include modern active-duty military forces. Addressing the Diet this afternoon in equally-impassioned remarks, opposition leader Mikami Aoto criticized the decision as "a dark and dangerous path to ruination."

"Our Prime Minister has chosen to ally himself with the ghosts of our past and the nostalgic militarists of our present, and to lead our nation down the same path which resulted in the death and destruction of our fathers," Mikami told the Diet this afternoon. "We cannot abide this. Such provocative displays of naked militarism have no place in democracy, no place in modern society."

Other left-leaning groups have also criticized the Prime Minister's decision, with pacifist group War Veterans for Peace delivering a petition with ten-thousand signatures pledging to boycott the event and calling for the cancellation of its military element. Speaking to PBC this afternoon, Soldiers for Peace spokesperson Katagiri Kaikou said that the event brought back memories of "the darkest period of our history."

"I remember as a boy this sort of thing, the military-worship, and look where it led us," Katagiri said. "When I look back on the things I saw, the things I did as a member of the military, I pray that nobody will ever have to see and do such things again." Katagiri went on to opine that the prominent presence of the military in this year's parade would have a "brainwashing" effect on the nation's youth, who have the day off school as a national public holiday.

"These kids, kids in general, they like soldiers and guns and war," Katagiri told PBC. "They don't understand what it's really like, they just see these strong, brave soldiers on television with their shiny tanks and rifles and think 'I want to do that.' And that's how it was with me, with my generation, the military was everywhere. It's a slippery slope."

In an interview conducted last week with PBC, Prime Minister Nakamura dismissed these claims and said that the suggestion of returning to 1940s militarism was "an absurd hyperbole."

"I, personally, have no intention of turning our country into a barracks state. I've said this many times, in the media, in the Diet, in foreign visits," Nakamura told PBC Evening News anchor Yamamura Seijun. "What I have said, and what I think we can all agree, is that our military's prestige, the level of respect we afford to people in the military, has declined since the [Great Eastern] War, even though their duty has arguably become more honorable in the intervening years. The people who sacrifice the chance to go to an elite university, take a corporate job in the private sector, live the so-called Prestonian Dream to instead take up a career defending our ability to do all of this, deserve our respect. They deserve a place at our table when we set a day aside to remember our foundation and those who came before us, and honor those who have helped make our country great. And that's what I've endeavored to provide, no more and no less."

Political analysts have characterized the announcement coupled with earlier proclamations regarding nuclear development and naval construction as evidence of a swing to the right from the Prime Minister, who was considered a centrist within the ruling New Democratic Party prior to his appointment. PBC Chief Political Analyst Horie Ginga told PBC Evening News that the move represented "a long-game projection" on the future of the NDP and Nakamura's own political career.

"The Prime Minister's recent pronouncements are calculated to please the conservative wing of the party, particularly the war-hawking group that holds key seats in the party's Selection Committee that determines things such as candidacies and cabinet positions. This is fundamentally a pragmatic and careerist move on Nakamura-san's part, which may or may not reflect the Prime Minister's actual feeling on the subject," Horie said. Asked his own opinion on the Prime Minister's course, Ginga said that "the future is uncertain."

"Conventional wisdom dictates that staking a political future on the backs of those who came before you--and will depart before you--is a bad idea. But the past influences the present, no doubt. So it's difficult to say for sure whether this will play out in Nakamura-san's favor."

The military portion of the National Foundation Day Parade is set to include soldiers representing all sixty-four Prefectures of the Prestonian Empire, in addition to the five designated Special Cities and the traditionally-clad Imperial Guard. Additionally, the Defense Ministry announced last week that invitations had been sent to OSEN allied nations as well as the Belhavian Empire for troops representing those nations to join the parade. A final list of participants was not available at press time.

Prime Minister Irenaeus announces the sale of three of the decommissioned Valletta class carriers to the Luskanya state

Valtos, Valinor — Nearly four years since they concluded their prestigious half century service, the old Valletta-class carriers finally have a resting place, or at least some of them will. This morning, Prime Minister Irenaeus announced that three of the five Valletta-class carriers, which were all decommissioned in 2011-14, have been sold to the Republic of Neidmarr for around three hundred million florins. Specifically, the Chambray, St.Mariano and Manoel were sold, and will be towed to Neidmarr over the next month or so while the remaining two carriers have been ordered to be turned into museums, whose locations are still to be determined.

Many Democracy United MPs criticized the sale, stating the Neidmarr was particularly a dictatorship, having not held elections in decades due to a "state of national emergency" and protested that Valinese arms should not be sold to them until they can provide their citizenry with proper, free elections, however their objections were over-ruled and the deal was passed by Parliament with a surplus of eighty votes.

In addition to announcing the carrier sales, the Navy has also concluded its NEXTGEN program and selected two entries; the Lupus-class nuclear guided missile cruiser which is being built by Pastroporos Shipwrights will replace the venerable Il-Geanna-class that is currently in service, and Vivani Shipyards won a contract to produce the Għasfur-class guided missile destroyer. Both systems are utilizing state of the art technology developed by Konguti Armas Ltd. and are being specifically designed around the new SCION (Strategic Command and Integrated Observation Network) system, which is not just a command program but also a set of highly modern radars, sonars and new processing computers. All ships in the Navy will be undergoing refits, with the 3 of the carrier strike groups already having been modified, to receive SCION software and equipment, which is estimated to take up to 3 months for non-capital ships and 6-8 months for the light and supercarriers.

In his first exclusive interview, Bogorian rebel leader explains key issues about the war and how air strikes will fail.

In his first exclusive interview with a foreign media outlet since the war in Bogoria began, Bogorian rebel leader Wislaw Sokal speaks of the sacrifice required to liberate his country from the grips of a tyrannical, corrupt cabal of unpatriotic oligarchs. He also expressed his unrelenting thanks to the kind hearted Rodarian people who have sent food, clothes, bedding and other basic goods to the people of Southern Bogoria who have faced a torrent of violence from the Bogorian government and now the 'Coalition of Tyranny'. He has called upon the rank and file of the Bogorian Defence Force to return to their homes and cease fighting a war they do not need fight for.

National Express: You have been the political leader of the southern Bogoria in many ways for many years, you led the 10 southern MPs in the Bogorian Parliament for over 15 years, did you ever see war a possibility?

Wislaw Sokal: No, not all, not in my life time at least. I did suspect violence would take hold after 1999, when we [Bogoria] tore down the communist regime, since the new Republic did not appear completely inclusive as we all hoped. In the chaos of the collapse of communism, a tiny few made a huge profit and gained a huge advantage over everyone else, these people are the oligarchs, they form 90% of Parliament, the senior military, senior judiciary and senior civil service, they're the ones who truly gained freedom in 1999, yet they denied it to the rest of us, of course it not such overt ways as the communists."

NE: Could this war have been avoided?

WS: Of course it could have, people around the world need to remind themselves how this war began, since many have fallen for the nonsense that we committed the first step. This war began in September last year, when ethnic Czechs came to Librantowa to assassinate ethnic Polish politicians and with state backing they did just that. Eleven ethnic Pole MPs and local government officials were shot dead in front of our eyes, we protested and then they killed more, shooting dead 36 people. We had enough, we rose up and took our cause to the forefront of our efforts. If the oligarchs had not supported the massacre of those politicians, there would be no war.

NE: What does this war mean to you, as a political leader and in effect a revolutionary?

WS: This war is not a sectarian one, it is not an ethnic one, this is a war for all Bogorians, a war for Bogoria's future and destiny. This is our chance now, to destroy the oligarchs and ensure that Bogoria is a nation for all Bogorians and not that just tiny incestuous group. But also it is a war to free Bogoria from the chains of CDI domination, for they are the ones who feed the oligarchs and prop them up like puppets, we fight for Bogoria's independence from the Oligarchs' corrupting evil and the malicious grip of the CDI.

NE: You say it is not a ethnic or sectarian war, but from the arrangement of the combatant sides, it would appear that way.

WS: This is for two reasons, the first is geography and the second is that this is the intention of the oligarchs. Geography wise, the nation is split north and south on the basis of ethnicity, as you know the south is predominately Polish with a minority of Bogorian-Rodarians, in the north you have as the collective term Radanici goes. In detail the north is the Czechs, Lithuanians and Latvians. As with the second point, the oligarchs from 1999 onwards thrived within a ethnically divided nation, they exacerbated ethnic misunderstandings and deadly myths, they did this for the sake of divide and conquer. Sectarian wise, this is a result of the communist regime, they succeeded in killing religion in the north, only a tiny minority of the north remain Catholic or Jewish, whilst the South is nearly entirely Catholic still, but religion has no place in this war.

NE: The Oligarchs made it this way? If they have such power over Bogoria, can they really be beaten?

WS: Of course they can, they are weaker than the combined will of the Bogorian people, they lie, steal and manipulate but these evils can always be defeated, God willing. Up until the CDI came to save their puppets, we were on the verge of making a lasting breakthrough against the oligarchs, a victory in Rakovnik would have broken the government's back and we will would have been free to surge forward and liberate all of Bogoria, but the CDI intervened and we will have to wait as long as needs to be to finally defeat the beast we are facing.

NE: You are not concerned by the air strikes?

WS: No not at all, air strikes alone will not defeat us, we know our cause is righteous, we're fighting for the oppressed and the dispossessed and against neo-imperialism, you cannot defeat a cause like that through air strikes alone. They claim to be doing this to restore the ceasefire, that isn't going to happen, they do not have the will nor the amount of bombs necessary to break our will to commit to our cause.

NE: You have said on many occasions that without the kindness of ordinary Rodarian people, the people of the South would have starved months ago, is this still the case or have you led a change in helping civilians?

WS: Yes this still remains the case, sadly we have not found the means to ensure shops having their shelves full as they did before, this a war, nothing works in war (he laughs). But with the aid we receive from the Rodarian government and of course groups like the Immaculate Heart Association, we can feed our people. But it goes beyond that, the many elderly people within our territory have not received their pensions since December, they have no money whatsoever and I mean zero money. These are the people who suffer equally as those who have lost loved ones, they suffer equally through fear of starvation, a lonely death in the darkness of their homes because they have electricity.

NE: You have in the past called for Bogorian Defence Force soldiers to lay down their arms, return to their homes or defect, do you still believe this can happen in light of the intervention by the Coalition of Tyranny as Rodarians call it?

WS: Absolutely, in recent months the oligarchs have become increasingly dependent on the so called Local Defence Volunteers to do the fighting, there's two reasons for this; first, is that the BDF lacks the means to defeat us entirely, and I say that in terms of equipment, discipline and training. Second is that the LDV is made up of ethnic nationalists and fascists, who hold vicious ethnic and sectarian views, the LDV has more, conviction to fight shall we say. For this I have said time and time again, that soldiers of the BDF should lay down their arms or defect to us, because the government they're supposedly fighting for, is now using horrible groups, very thuggish and violent groups to war upon fellow Bogorians. Since we're fighting for all of Bogoria, they should not aid such a regime.

Das Volk
News of Austrasia and the World

Twelve Austrasian Men Convicted In Absentia: The Imperial Court of National Security disclosed today that following close proceedings twelve Austrasian men associated with the far right criminal organization/terrorist group/prison gang Volksarmee (Peoples Army) have been convicted in absentia of mercenarism and sentenced to life in prison. All twelve men are believed by the intelligence services to currently be fighting in Bogoria against the Rodarion-backed rebels - though it reportedly cannot be determined if all twelve are still alive or not. All parties involved in the case have so far declined to reveal the identities of the twelve - citing unspecified "security concerns".

Gendarmerie commander Augustin Riese testified to an Assembly committee today that of the twelve eight were known to be veterans of the Austrasian Armed Forces and the remaining four are believed to have received preliminary training from Volksarmee before departing Austrasia. According to Riese the men appear to have been motivated by the Volksarmee militant anti-catholic ideology and that evidence collected by investigators indicates they were fully prepared to become "martyrs of the people" in what they perceive as a global war of resistance against the Rodarian papacy. Reportedly one of the men, a father of four who had lost custody of his children six years ago in part because of his history of associating with criminal groups, sold his home and possessions before departing and placed the money in a trust fund for his children. The Gendarmerie does not intend to seize the money as investigation by the Chief Procurator uncovered no evidence any of the funds were the proceeds of illegal activities.

Currently all thirteen former heads of the Volksarmee are serving life sentences without parole in undisclosed locations after a massive crackdown on the group in 1998. Intelligence reports however that the group has lived on, adopting a "cellular" structure with no clear head or centralized organization, and presently groups bearing the Volksarmee name are collectively considered one of top organized threats in the Empire. Another Volksarmee cell captured the headlines in 2011 when their feud with a local chapter of the notorious Midnight Sun biker gang erupted in a wave of killings that nearly paralyzed the city for six months. The police response to those attacks resulted in another major sweep of known and suspected Volksarmee members across the country and for a few years the group once again disappeared from public conscious. But as these events reveal they have remained active and a threat.

General Riese has informed the government that "all options" are being pursued to apprehend the men. And if this fails the Imperial Procurator has indicated it will ask the Court of National Security for a "kill warrant" as they represent a clear and imminent danger to Austrasian security.

Crown Prince, Anikatian Heiress Announce Engagement

Image
His Imperial Highness the Crown Prince and Ms. Kim Yoo-Mee, pictured here in a portrait taken last year. The Crown Prince and Ms. Kim have announced their engagement after five years of courtship.

Saikyo His Imperial Highness the Crown Prince has become engaged to Ms. Kim Yoo-Mee of Anikatia, multiple sources reported this afternoon.

The engagement was first reported by the Imperial Press Office of the Imperial Household Agency, whose press statement was given to PBC and others at around 9 AM this morning. This was followed by confirmations from the Crown Prince as well as Ms. Kim, who spoke to their respective media outlets early this afternoon.

“I am thrilled, nervous, excited, all in one,” Crown Prince Nobuhito told PBC and others this afternoon. “It’s an indescribable feeling, really. We’re both tremendously excited to begin our lives together.” The Crown Prince told PBC that the actual proposal occurred late last night, after the conclusion of a dinner date at upscale restaurant Nobu in Ginza, a popular upscale shopping city.

“We were at dinner, and after the dinner had concluded we went to the rooftop deck [of the restaurant],” the Crown Prince related. “We stood there, staring out at the beautiful skyline and the silhouette of Mount Bandai, and in that moment I knew the time had come. I dropped to one knee and said ‘make me the happiest man on earth,’ and she just smiled and nodded yes.”

A post on Kim Yoo-Mee’s Instagram this afternoon showed the engagement ring, and had garnered more than 500,000 likes by press time. Addressing Anikatian and Prestonian media, the 23 year old Huadai heiress said that she was “thrilled...absolutely thrilled” to be engaged to the Crown Prince.

“It’s like living in a dream,” Kim told media from her apartment in Ginza this afternoon. “It still hasn’t fully hit me yet, the realization that this is all real.”

Who is Kim Yoo-Mee?

23 year old Kim Yoo-Mee is the eldest daughter of industrialist and philanthropist Kim Mong-Guk, who serves as CEO of the conglomerate Huadai Group. She first met the Crown Prince in 2010 while he was studying abroad at Antiytia University, and was linked romantically by the Anikatian tabloid media almost immediately. She in turn studied abroad at Saikyo Imperial University, where the Crown Prince finished his degree in structural engineering in 2013. While romantically linked by both Anikatian and Prestonian presses, the couple kept a low public profile and Yoo-Mee did not make any appearances at Imperial ceremonies, leading to speculation that the relationship was not serious or had ended. The couple resurfaced in media recently with a new round of pictures last month showing them out shopping in Saikyo and Ginza; this coupled with Yoo-Mee’s mention in a list of attendees to the National Foundation Day parade in the Imperial reviewing stand heightened speculation of an impending engagement.

Kim Yoo-Mee splits her time between Antiytia, Anikatia and Ginza, Prestonia, where she lived while attending Saikyo Imperial University double-majoring in political science and Oriental linguistics. Since graduation she has continued residence in Prestonia while serving with the philanthropic and community outreach wing of Huadai Department Stores, part of her father’s conglomerate. With announcement of the engagement, it is expected that Ms. Kim will resign or curtail her duties with Huadai as her share of Imperial duties increases. Addressing the media, Kim said she was “excited” to undertake her new life as an Imperial consort; in a separate statement, the Crown Prince entreated a “compassionate, understanding approach” as the couple begins their new life together.

“My beloved has had only a few years to adapt to my lifestyle, the Imperial lifestyle, which is in many ways vastly different from any other,” the Crown Prince said. “There will be culture shock, there will be mistakes, as we settle in together and get used to this new chapter of our lives. I ask that the press and the public respect the process and our privacy throughout this process.” Imperial Household watchers have interpreted the Crown Prince’s comments as a veiled snipe at the Imperial Household Agency, with whom he has been reported to conflict on issues surrounding treatment of the Imperial Household.

Amid the Wedding Bells, Congratulations and Consternation

Congratulations from world leaders flooded in almost immediately after the news broke, with President Sui Anyi of Anikatia interrupting a routine press briefing to express her congratulations early this afternoon.

“To the happy couple, the daughter of one of our nation’s titans of industry and the son of a thousand-year dynasty which has made great strides toward peace and understanding between our nations, I offer my most heartfelt congratulations and well-wishes,” the President told an assembled press corps. “It is my hope that this union may serve as an enduring symbol of love and amity overcoming the dark shadows of the past, and represent a new and gilded page in the book of affairs between our Anikatia and the great Prestonian Empire.” Huadai CEO and father of the bride-to-be Kim Mong-guk also told media outlets that Sui had contacted him via phone to express her congratulations.

As congratulations flooded in from consular officials on behalf of their governments, in Prestonia itself Prime Minister Nakamura Shinichiro met with the Crown Prince and Ms. Kim in a private, informal meeting which lasted about thirty minutes, reportedly congratulating the couple on their engagement and discussing “some routine matters of state in the event,” according to a press release. This evening, the couple announced they would be joining the Emperor for a banquet in their honor, and the Emperor himself took the rare step of a public statement on the matter of his son’s engagement.

“We are thrilled that our son has found happiness, and very much pleased with his choice,” His Imperial Majesty said today in prepared remarks. “Ms. Kim is a wonderful young woman, and we look forward to her union with our family.” The Imperial Household Agency reiterated the Emperor’s blessing in a prepared statement to accompany His Majesty’s, while also stating that in accordance with the Imperial Household Law of 1949 the union would need to be approved by the Imperial Diet, a hurdle which is not expected to present any significant challenge.

While reactions from Prestonia, Anikatia and abroad were largely positive, the news was not all encouraging this evening as right-wing groups from both nations denounced the pending union. In Anikatia, a demonstration outside the Prestonian embassy attracted approximately 250, who chanted anti-Prestonian slogans and burned Prestonian flags before being dispersed by police. The group, identifying itself as the Anikatian National Union, said that it opposed what it called “sleeping with the enemy” and vowed to sue in Anikatian federal court to block the marital proceedings.

“Millions of our fathers died at their [Prestonian] hands,” ANU spokesman Sang Hyung-Kim told Anikatian media. “This is a dishonor and a disgrace to our country. Kim Mong-guk should be ashamed of the collaborationist whore he has raised; a true Anikatian does not sleep with the enemy.” Similar though more muted concerns were raised in Prestonia, where noted poet and author Sekiya Yukio lamented the “cheapening and mongrelization” of the Imperial Household on his blog this evening.

“Our divine dynasty, which has lasted 2700 years, has always been of the purest and noblest blood of Prestonia,” Sekiya wrote in a post which garnered over 2500 comments in the first hour. “To scorn the many eligible and noble ladies of Prestonia and instead take up a foreigner to wife is to cheapen what it means to be of the Imperial House. It is a defilement of the most noble race of people and the most noble house of humankind ever to dwell upon this earth. It shames me that we have been reduced to such.”

While Imperial authorities did not respond to the criticisms, Ministry for Public Safety officials and Saikyo Metropolitan Police did this evening confirm that a knife had been mailed to the Imperial Palace, in a symbolic shaming/threatening action for which Sekiya was reportedly wanted for questioning. Palace authorities said that they did not regard the threat as credible, but would be heightening security around Palace grounds, the Crown Prince and Ms. Kim for the foreseeable future.

Next Up: The Hows and Wheres of an Historic Ceremony

Despite the historic announcement today, few details on the ceremony itself have been disclosed, with the Imperial Household Agency noting only that planning for the wedding was “in progress” and declining further question. The notoriously tight-lipped Agency did little to deter speculation and oddsmakers, however, and by press time this evening some ten-thousand bets had been entered on bookmaking websites and at casinos for everything from the time to nature of the ceremony. Imperial Household watchers have all broadly agreed that the ceremony will be carried out according to Kando religious tradition, as is typical of such ceremonies; however, incorporation of Yeosindo elements, which are broadly similar, remains likely. Ms. Kim self-identifies as a “non-practicing Yeosindoist,” having been presented to her temple at birth but eschewing traditional coming-of-age ceremonies and regular attendance. The extent to which Yeosindo elements are incorporated will largely depend on her personal preference, which has not been publicly stated. With regard to timing, most have the wedding occurring early to mid next year, possibly timed with an auspicious day of Spring which in Kando tradition is regarded as the best time to get married. The ceremony itself is likely to take place either on Palace grounds or on the grounds of Mizuma Grand Shrine, with the temporary marital shrine to be constructed in accordance with ancient methods as is the Imperial custom. Still, oddsmakers stress, this is an unprecedented event and little is certain going forward.

Even less-certain are the practical, temporal realities of such a high-profile international marriage; specifically, lawmakers on both sides have raised concerns for citizenship rights retained by Ms. Kim as well as any future children of the couple. Under Anikatian law, citizenship is not automatically renounced upon foreign marriage, and Ms. Kim has made no indication that she will renounce her Anikatian citizenship upon marrying into the Imperial Household; this would in theory make her a dual-citizen of Prestonia and Anikatia, though Imperial Household members are not Prestonian citizens as-such under law, being subject to a different interpretation. Most interestingly, if Ms. Kim chooses not to forego her Anikatian citizenship, any future children of the couple--including the future heir to the Clover Throne--would become dual citizens under Anikatia’s equal-inheritance laws. In remarks on the subject this evening, Anikatian President Sui Anyi told media that the situation was “in discussion” with the couple-to-be as well as consular officials from both nations.

“We understand that this is an unprecedented case, and we are working with the Prestonian government and our own consular officials to determine which laws apply in this circumstance and to come to an agreement which satisfies our respective constitutions in both letter and spirit, with regard to citizenship status,” Sui told assembled media.

Armed police were deployed to Megurele in case of a third gunmen attempting to flee the scene.

Police in Romula have confirmed that National Liberal Party Senator, Sorin Olteanu has died as a result of gunshot wounds. He was shot dead by two masked gunmen outside his Romula home, before being chased by patrolling police officers. One was shot dead by police after opening fire on a police car, the other was injured and subsequently arrested. Eye witness reports indicate that the gunmen left a vehicle on the opposite side of Strada Lucia to his home, walked towards his home and as he left opened fire shooting him three times. The National Police Service is treating the killing as politically motivated.

Senator Sorin Olteanu who had been the representative for the Magurele constituency since 1995 and only one of two NLP Senators to keep their seats in last year's general election had been a well-respected politician by all parties in the Senate and by his constituents. Despite his often brutal criticisms of the National Catholic Party government, his life has never been threatened. His wife Flori Olteanu is currently abroad with a charity doing work in Ashizwe, she has been informed by the Foreign Ministry of her husband's death.

Despite not willing to divulge aspects of the investigation already, the National Police Command of Romula (NPCR) has given a statement regarding the motive for this barbaric killing.

"In light of the murder of Senator Sorin Olteanu, we have investigated his previous activities in search of a motive. The suspects have no recorded personal relationship or link to the victim, however we did find that Senator Olteanu had given a speech at the Metropolitan University of Moreni two weeks ago, in which he criticised the government's position regarding the Bogorian crisis. We now firmly believe that the suspects acted out of misplaced nationalistic rage, we will be taken action to ensure that any politician who speaks out against the government's policy regarding the crisis will be protected from other overzealous citizens" the spokesman said.

"We found that the suspects were present at the Senator's talk, how they gained his address is currently unknown, this forms a key part of our investigation. It is with great providence that the two suspects were intercepted when they were, if it were the other case, it is likely that their apprehension would have taken days or weeks" he continued.

At 12.32pm, Senator Olteanu left his home in Magurele, at 12.35pm he was shot three times in the chest three doors down from his home, by Ioan Leonte (32 years old) and Fabian Biro (22 years old), the two gunmen then proceeded on foot along Strada Lucia, before being interrogated by police on the street, a fire-fight broke out and Biro was shot dead by police and Leonte was struck in the thigh and subsequently arrested. He is being held at a local hospital for medical treatment, he will now be put on trial and faces the death penalty for his crime.
Senator Olteanu leaves behind a wife and three daughters, all of whom are at university.

All across the country and political spectrum, words of sympathy and mourning have been sent to his family. Consul Ceausescu released a statement on Metsins saying "the death of Senator Olteanu is shocking as it is barbaric, I am sure that those monsters who killed him will now face the full force of this country's justice system. I and my family offer our prayers to Mrs. Olteanu and his three daughters, Aurelia, Annamaria and Alexandra."

His Holiness the Pope also gave a statement, releasing a video onto the internet, he said, "never is it acceptable for a man of great respect and responsibility to be gunned down for voicing his opinion, our prayers as a nation are with his family and children, I am sure the Holy Mother is now embracing him with the warmth of her immaculate heart."

Acting National Liberal Party leader, Franciska Nagy also gave a heartfelt statement to reporters this afternoon, "it is with great sadness and horror that we say goodbye to Sorin Olteanu, he was a friend, comrade and colleague to many here at the NLP, his kindness, his generosity and hard work benefited the people of Magurele for 20 years. A brave man of great conviction has been taken from us so brutally and unnecessarily. Let people who share the same thoughts as those who murdered Sorin know that this party and people like Sorin will never be intimidated, we will never abandon our principles or values, let alone our fight for world peace. Sorin would never wish to see such a crime happen and we will honour his beliefs as we honour his life."

Hundreds of people have laid flowers outside his home already, however the Police have shut off access to his home through fears of vandalism or other malicious acts, instead Police are asking wellwishers to lay flowers at the National Liberal Party Headquarters.

Leader of the Citizens Party, Stefania Antonescu also gave a statement saying, "what has happened to the most respectable man in the Senate, is testament to the struggle liberalism faces in our country today, yet we must see Sorin Olteanu as an inspiration and not a symbol of violence, he and I may not have always agreed on everything, but I will never forget him, nor will I ever chose to do so, the world has lost a great heart. My thoughts and prayers are with his wife and daughters."

The Police are expected to formally produce their investigation report in the coming days, due to the swift apprehension of the criminals, the likelihood of a quick and decisive trial is high. The press in Rodarion are banned from producing stories on the suspects until after the police formally release their reports on the crime and the suspects, however Leonte is a known aggressive nationalist, he previously spent two years in prison for assaulting a socialist party activist, this will influence the court's decision on his fate.

A memorial service is to be held at the Senate on Tuesday before he is buried at a private ceremony, his family has requested that their privacy be respected.

Valtos, Valinor — Nearly two decades after quietly admitting defeat and running with their tails between their legs, the Valinese government is returning with its authority, power and law to the Daoine Exclave. The Daoine Exclave is on the island of Gael, which is where approximately seventy percent of all Daoine citizens within the Kingdom reside, with the land being gifted to their ancestors by King Hajund in 1400, confiscating their prior homelands in the valuable central forests and banishing them to the island, which was a source of trouble ever since. More modernly, following the MHH insurgency in southern and central Valinor in 1993, a similar movement gained traction in the Exclave, but with more worrying degrees of success; the MHH in the eight years it existed inflicted eight hundred civilian deaths and under half a billion dollars worth of damage, however, the Daoine Liberation Front (DLF) from 1994 till 1997, a mere three year span, caused more then four thousand civilian deaths, more then three point billion dollars of damage and severely set back war damage recovery for half a decade with their bombings on new plants and projects. The Army attempted to corral the DLF on Gael through a anti-guerrilla campaign headquartered out of Leye, but they were out-matched, leading to many suspecting foreign involvement, and the Army withdrew from the island, taking all government loyal officials with them in 1997, and the island while technically still in the Kingdom has had virtual independence ever since.

Operation Caretaker, the joint Central Defence Initiative-Organization of Southern-Eastern Nations mission to train a new, professional all volunteer army for the Valinese Armed Forces, was officially launched last year in December and has slowly been expanding since then, with more then twenty thousand trainers now in Valinor, training the new officer corps and the new recruit base. The surging number of trainers, rising steadily as Valinese defense officials press to get half a million troops active duty status by this December, has led to a shortage of facilities and many forts and bases damaged in the last war or previously abandoned in the 1990s era defense cuts have been re-opened, including Fort Trondheim, JFB Acton, and now Fort Leye. Approximately eight hundred Anikatian engineers along with six hundred of their troops arrived at the Fort two weeks ago following a detachment of the 5th Brigade, one of the last Royal Guard units still standing, having been deployed to secure and inspect the base. The engineers have been for the past two weeks inspecting the old buildings, tearing them down or repairing if needed, and even building new ones if necessary. Once completed, they will host two battalions of recruits which will go on to form the first part of the 6th Mechanized Division following graduation; in the mean time however, the six hundred Anikatian troops will guard the base, and as 5th Brigade slowly makes their way to the island, they will begin restoring order to the towns and settlements, apart of a bigger operation called Operation Red Spade by the Ministry of Defense.

The operation will see the involvement of the 5th Guards, Ay-05NG multi-role fighters from the 82nd Fighter Group out of Alleldale AFB, which will be moved to a new air force base once one has been recovered on Gael, as well as possibly other Caretaker units, however the government has stressed this is a separate and independent operation as of now, though for how long it will stay that way is under dispute.

Navy Announces Plans for Carrier Purchases
Admiral Joseph Schneider Gives an insight into the navies plans for their most recent acquisitions

Image
Image: NNS Kalvar 1 of 3 Kracken Class Fleet Carriers operating in the Orlessian Sea

Guntor Klass | 04th June 2015

You may remember that recently the Neiudmarrian Navy announced acquisitions for three aging Carriers from the Valinese Navy one of Neidmars partners and allies within the Organisation of South Eastern Nations. Recently brought out of service by the Valinese Navy the vessels where slated for scrap if a buyer could not be found. Built back in the early 1950's the carriers saw action all accross the world, in various conflicts Including several much closer to home than many would like to admit. The news of the purchase of three almost 70 year old Carriers has had mixed opinions with many trying to fathom what exactly the Navy would use them for, whilst others stated that the purchase was wasteful and could be used on increasing the defences along the Rodarion Border.

Eitherway the Neidmarrian Navy had remained tight lipped untill earlier today when Admiral Joseph Schneider one of the current members of the Admiralty council finally announced this morning exactly what they where thinking when they decided to take these vessels from the Valinese Military.

"The Valinese Navy, selling off some of its older assets presented an oppertunity to the Neidmar, as I have no doubt many of you are aware that the Navy spends considerable amounts of its budget on R&D that both benifit the defence of the country and the everyday life of Neidmarrian Citizens. Several of these projects have reached a point where they are ready to go from concepts to prototypes, now that can be espensive especially when a significant investment is needed to make that concept into a prototype. These three carriers provided an oppertunity to save alot of money and time potentially moving these projects forward years.

Once docked in their new homes these three vessels will undergo extensive refurbishment, for the next years in efforts to bring the vessels back up to modern day standards. These vessels will represent the next stages of Project Tennan and Project Flock and should see these projects begin testing as soon as two years from now, a year and a half a head of our initial predictions."

There are a few things known about project Tennan, despite that fact that it has been held as classified since its early beginnings. Project Tennan represents and effort to increase the Neidmarrian Marines ability to react to threats to Neidmarrian interests accross the globe. Project Tennan is a new for all intensive purposes a fresh look at the Amphibious Assault Ship concept. Instead just being a platform to launch an amphibious assault the Tennan Project aims to turn the these vessels into more of an operating base for Marine Battalion providing a floating base in which Neidmarrian Marines could strike with impunity all over the world.

There is however every little known about Project Flock other than it involves state of the art drone technologies, A leaked email from the Navies R&D administrations described certain aspects of the Project as being a gane changer and cutting edge in terms of Naval Technology across the globe. With the three carriers due to dock at the Naval Base at Port Gorsje within the next two months work is expected to begin on refurbishing the vessels soon after.

Scandal Rocks Ginza as Police Commissioner, Former Mayor Arrested in Corruption Scandal

Image
Members of the Ginza City Council apologize to media this afternoon following the revelation of a bribery scandal implicating the former Mayor and Police Commissioner of the city.

Ginza Two high-ranking political officials were arrested early this morning, with further arrests expected in what investigators are labeling as one of the worst corruption scandals in Prestonian government history.

Arrested today were former mayor Tanaka Yoshiro, as well as Commissioner of Police Murayama Kenji, each charged with several counts of corruption and bribe solicitation in what police officials called a years-long relationship with the Yakuza. Court documents released this afternoon at arraignment detailed a months-long investigation during which “a clear and unambiguous pattern of bribe solicitation and acceptance...in exchange for leniency to organized crime” was discovered, dating back to Tanaka’s election as Mayor in 2010. In a forty-seven page disposition, National Police investigators alleged that over a period of five years, Tanaka accepted some five-hundred million Yen (URD 5,000,000) from the Yotsuda-gumi gang of the Yakuza in exchange for redirecting police resources away from ongoing investigations into Yotsuda-gumi trafficking operations.

“Throughout his tenure as Mayor, Mr. Tanaka intentionally redirected police resources from investigation and prosecution of Yotsuda-gumi activities,” the report alleged. In a specific incident, Tanaka reportedly ordered the cancellation of a raid on a high-level Yakuza meeting, calling an anonymous tip received not credible. A series of emails exchanged between Tanaka and then-Commissioner Masuzoe Roku was among the evidence seized by police investigators as part of their investigation; an anonymous source provided PBC with copies of these emails, which showcase a tense exchange between Masuzoe and Tanaka regarding the latter’s perceived interference in policing matters.

“You have repeatedly interfered in my department’s critical investigations, ordered the redirection of critical resources away from areas of importance, and disregarded critical evidence...I implore you to trust the judgements of my department in providing for the public safety [of Ginza],” reads one email in part from Masuzoe. Tanaka’s reply in this case was curt: “I have consulted with numerous sources and experts in this matter [of organized crime] and have determined that the intelligence provided is not credible. Please respect my decision on this matter and understand that it is final.” Masuzoe resigned as Police Commissioner shortly thereafter, reportedly upset at being left out of key discussions on police policy. He was replaced by Murayama, a senior detective on the Ginza City Police, in 2011. Investigators would not reveal whether Masuzoe was involved in the investigation, and calls to his office went unreturned.

Addressing a media conference this afternoon, National Police lead investigator Nishimura Hirose called the arrests “a key first step in restoring the public confidence” in Ginza and stated that more would be coming “as the situation develops.”

“This scandal has left a dark cloud over the great city of Ginza,” Nishimura told PBC and others this afternoon. “We have a duty and an obligation to scour the grime and grit of corruption out of the halls of government in Ginza, and we will not stop until we have accomplished this mission and restored the public’s faith in their government.” Nishimura also told PBC that warrants for detainment of Yotsuda-gumi boss Taoka Koji, as well as the search of Yotsuda-gumi headquarters in Ginza, had been arrested. Yotsuda-gumi spokespersons declined to give comment on these matters, though a social media account attributed to Taoka described the allegations as “baseless” and stated that a public statement was coming “in the near future.” Members of the City Council also gave a joint statement today apologizing for their failure to prevent the scandal from unfolding, and at least two of the six council members had resigned by press time; it is unknown if any have been or will be targeted for arrest in this matter.

The scandal has also left dark clouds over the ruling New Democratic Party and its Prime Minister, Nakamura Shinichiro; Tanaka was widely considered a likely future candidate for NDP leadership and potential Premiership. While not generally regarded as a member of Nakamura’s faction within NDP internal politics, the dramatic fall of such a high-profile member is expected to send shockwaves through the political establishment. Addressing the situation this afternoon, Nakamura condemned what he called the “culture of corruption and graft” and vowed that “the highest penalties will be applied” to those implicated in the scandal.

“We must eradicate corruption from within our halls of government, wherever and whenever it appears,” Nakamura told the Diet and assembled media this afternoon. “To this end, I have directed the Ministry of Justice that no plea bargains nor any preferential treatment shall be applied to those arrested in connection with the Ginza scandal. I have also directed that a full offensive be enacted against those organized criminal enterprises which have so infiltrated and poisoned the operations of our state. To this end, my government will shortly introduce a comprehensive new bill to combat organized crime at its source, including additional sanctions on businesses and organizations that fund or do business with these criminal enterprises.”

In defiant conclusion, Nakamura vowed to restore trust in government, calling for “a declaration of war” upon the “two-headed monster organized crime and corruption...until none of the taint remains.”

If convicted, Tanaka and Murayama each face up to twenty-five years in prison; it was not clear at press time if either had retained legal counsel.

BREAKING: SYNKA Achieves Absolute Majority in Senate and Parliament.
Manto Demou elected President; SYNKA achieves majority in both Senate and Parliament, with 39 and 157 seats respectively.
June 14, 2015 | By Eleutherios Vasseliades (ENT)

Image
Manto Demou, daughter of former President Georgios Demos, is the second female President in Eaglelander History.

Constantinople, KCT — In a surprising turn of events, the ballots nation-wide attest to a resounding victory by the Eaglelander Conservative Party (SYN.K.A.), as the party, against all odds, thanks to its aggressive political campaign, by achieving a majority in both the Parliament of Representatives (157/300) and the Senate (39/76). Of the SYNKA Candidate Ballots, President Manto Demou, daughter of the legendary President Georgios Demos (incumbent president at the International Conservative Conference), came first, securing 53.7% of all votes, with a 51% necessary for Presidential Candidature.

At a speech released today in front of crowds in Athens, Lekanopedion Attikis, Greater Attica State, Ms. Demou mentioned, among other things: "Today, my fellow citizens, this a victory day, but not a victory day for the Conservative Party of the Eagleland. This is a victory day not only for this great Nation, with over 5,000 years of existence. This is not even a victory for the Free World, whose role of protecting the world's peace and unity status is becoming more heavy and blurry. This is a victory for the entire world, including nations partially free or unfree, the challenges of whom create a complex environment, where the lines between right and wrong are extremely opaque, and where the price of failure is heavy."

"In these treacherous and volatile times, following last year's catastrophe and the events thereafter, this nation enters a dangerous phase, where inactivity will mean treachery, isolation, and extinction. Protecting ourselves is no longer a question of being alone; after all, our Nation, being the most powerful shipping power in the world, has an interest in peace and tranquility in our planet, trade and economic development. However, crises looming in the horizon are looming, and we cannot, and must not, sit on our chairs and sofas and simply see it through. A proactive, instead of a reactive, mentality is necessary in order to protect our Nation and our world"

"At last, our Nation has realised its potential to become a dependable asset in the maintenance of global order and peace! At least, our Nation is ready to prove, verify, and solidify its greatness in this world! And this Nation is, at last, finally up on its feet, ready to contribute for the security of this world! Be it Ashiwze's stability, threatened by Ulthrannian discrepancies, or the Bogorian Crisis, where our allies have decided to undo acts of injustice to this land, we are prepared to do whatever it takes to ensure that Eaglelanders are seen as strong persons and not as beggars!"

Georgios Demou released this statement: "My daughter, of which I feel extremely proud today, has followed by steps at a time when faith in the abilities of our nation are in decline. Knowing her, and her untamed psyche, I am confident, not because I am, her father, but was a one of the trusted leaders of this great Nation, that she will live up higher than the precedent of previous administrations of the Republic, and will go as far as possible so as to regain everything we lost, in terms of national prestige, last year."

In a surprising event, the Libertarian Party is no longer necessary to form Government, and has seen its share of the political pie shrink as well. The leader of the Libertarian Party, Belhavian-Eaglelander Jewish Michalis Goldberg, a graduate of Almania College, stated: "It is clearly a defeat, that we only managed to secure 7 seats in the Senate and 12 in Parliament, and the dissolution of the Western Confederal States clearly played their role in shaping public opinion. However, we are prepared to fight for our country, be it with or alongside SYNKA, and we are prepared to defend the liberties of the Eaglelander People, as well as our role in the region. After all, our first allegiance is with the Eagleland."

Concerns, however, have been voiced at many levels. The Eaglelander Labour Party, which only managed to win 67 seats in Parliament and 14 in the Senate, alongside the Liberal Democratic Party, have been defeated utterly at the polls, even in the electorate districts of Piraeus and Thessaloniki, known swing districts in favour of the Lib-Lab coalition. The President of the Labour Party, Vassilis Vasileiades, stated that the result "is concerning and unsatisfactory, and signifies a victory for the global capitalist system that is torturing our poor so as to enrich the bourgeoisie. We will, however, continue to fight for a fairer Eagleland, even in a conservative-dominated parliament and senate. The people need us for this fight, and right now, we will need to ensure that our poor and needy get the help they so deserve."

Similar remarks were launched at the new Government by the Liberal Democrats, especially by their President, Konstantina Theodorou: "The country stands a great risk of moving back 2,000 years with an administration hell-bent on global intervention, and certainly fails to consider that the 'Free Pardes' community isn't quite free, because free markets do not necessarily equate with personal liberty, and that is something we and sensible, society-oriented persons comprehend. We wish the best for our nation, for the risks for the weak and vulnerable multiply day by day."

The Eaglelander Centrist Party have also reacted somewhat negatively to the result. "The domination", said Panos Danopoulos, "of one Party with neoconservative affiliations and ideologies can act as an impediment for democratic procedures, and this certainly can prove problematic, whenever criticism must be exercised. We must ensure that our democracy, the oldest in the world, is preserved and followed through, and that checks and balances are retained."

The election of Manto Demou into Government has procured positive reactions in Belhavia, Emmeria, and Arthurista, as well as Anikatia, and many think tanks arguing for greater interventionism on the part of the Eaglelander Government also express positive statements. The Ulthrannian, Rodarian and other RCO Governments did not release a statement as of late.

In the coming days, the President will set up a Cabinet and ask for a vote of confidence. Once this is done, it will be sworn into power for five years, until June 2020. Policies, according to SYNKA statements, will include a militarisation of the country, with a referendum on National Service, alongside a more active stance on global affairs, which solidifies involvement in Bogoria, Ashizwe, and elsewhere, as part of the CDI. Other measures include a reduced role of the federal government, with more powers delegated to the states, greater trade ties with other, non-CDI states such as Prestonia, Anikatia, Sieuxerr, Thule, and Dniegua, and some CDI partners such as Davisholm and Erucia.

Eleutherios Vasseliades reported from Constantinople, Konstantineian Capital Territory. Konstantinos Irakeides contributed to the article from Constantinople, Konstantineian Capital Territory.

Romula Police Command General, Ciprian Nemes gave the press conference where he made the startling announcement.

Romula Police have finally published their report on the murder of National Liberal Party Senator, Sorin Olteanu. According to their investigation, he was shot dead as a result of his broad criticism of the Bogorian Civil War and the Papal Republic's moral support for the rebels. However extensive interrogation of the sole surviving murderer (the other was shot dead by police at the scene), indicates that this was a paid killing and that although both were present at the talk in Moreni where he criticised the Civil War, his address was acquired by a third party. The Police have stated that it may be impossible to find the third party due to the suspect's resistance to divulging the third party's identity.

Senator Sorin Olteanu was shot dead two weeks ago outside his constituency home in eastern Romula. Two police officers on patrol down the opulent street caught to the two gunmen fleeing from the scene, the two killers then opened fire on the officers, the resulting fire-fight left one killer dead and the other wounded. The wounded killer, Ioan Leonate now faces a trial where he will most likely be sentenced to death for murder, the Ministry of Justice has refused to comment on any provision for Leonate to confess to God and the court in exchange for his life.

General of the Romula Police Command, Ciprian Nemes gave a press conference following the report's release to the media outside the State Court in Romula where Leonate is to be tried, there he made clear the Police's certainty that a third party was involved in the killing.

"Through our thorough investigation and in depth analysis of the two killers, we have come to conclude that this was a paid act, that these two young warped men were paid by a third party to gun down a democratically elected member of our nation's Senate. We can confirm that both killers received around RL300,000 (UR$48,320) three days prior to the crime committed. We as of yet, have been unable to trace the origin of the payment. We have looked at possible connections between Senator Olteanu and the killers and as of yet, we have not found a definitive link, except for both killers being present at his talk in Moreni.

"Furthermore, we have investigated the Senator's private life and personal activities and found that he was indeed engaged in numerous business related activities in and around Romula, we at this time have not dismissed the possibility that he was killed over a precarious business deal. We have neither dismissed the possibility that this was indeed the act of a ultra-nationalist group that paid the two men to kill an innocent man, unfortunately we have failed to find any definitive links between Senator Olteanu and these possible scenarios.

"In relation to the Senator's absent bodyguards, we found that the Senator did not place a call with them, indicating his wish to leave his home. As with Senatorial Conventions on security, a Senator must inform his or her bodyguards on their movements so that they may be protected at all times, the Senator's decision not to inform his bodyguards is troubling, yet his wife nor his bodyguards cannot account for this decision. Analysis of the Senator's private and work phones have not produced anything substantive to explain his murder, however we have not dismissed the possibility of him having used burner phones in relation to his business dealings.
Targeted killings against Senators in the Papal Republic are truly rare, the last time a sitting Senator was murdered was in 1991. Florentin Stoica (RSP), was killed along with his 8 year old daughter, when his manic depressive wife set fire to their home in Livada intentionally, she was later sentenced to life in Repentance instead of facing the death penalty due to her mental health issues.

However Sorin Olteanu's unfortunate death has sparked a debate within the Senate community over safety and their protection. Several Senators have questioned the capabilities of the Senate Security Agency - has been tasked with protecting Senators since 1960, a group of Senators from the NCP and NDP have proposed unofficially that security of Senators be passed to the Office of the Holy Inquisition, as of yet the government has responded to proposals or criticisms from Senators. This morning, the Senate Security Agency announced that it will cooperate fully with any inquiry requested by the government into the effectiveness of its policies and practices.

Leonate's trial is set to begin on the 23 June, it will be televised live and accessible on all major news channels. However the Ministry of Justice has stated that the courtroom itself will not be open to public due to security concerns. He is expected to plead guilty, however it is demanded in these cases that a normal trial continue despite a guilty plea for the sake of full understanding of the crime and any possible further information being attained about the identity of the suspected third party.

Marines set sail to join Operation Red Spade

Image
NNS Baltis Amphibious Assault Ship, Heads south from Naval Port Baltar

Guntor Klass | 26th June 2015

Yesterday morning around 8:30am the NNS Baltis a Navy Amphibious Assault Ship set course for the Nation of Valinor, along with the 14th Marine Battalion of the 6th Marine Regiment as part of Neidmars commitment to the OSEN's Operation Red Spade. Operation Red Spade is part of a wider operation to bring peace and stability to the outer lying regions of the State of Valinor an active and closest OSEN member to Neidmar. The commitment is being stated by local news outlets as a move to show Neidmars commitment to OSEN, whilst such a low key deployment has caused questions to be asked on whether the commitment will actually be able to have any effect in the current situation in Valinor.

Neidmar and Valinor have been working closely together since the republics entrance into OSEN, completing a deal for Valiniese warships and working to increase trade and stimulate the each others markets. Being the Closest OSEN member to Neidmar it would make sense that our two nations would work closely together to ensure that both nations are secure economicaly and defensively in the future. A Statement that is widely agreed upon by both the civillian government and the military. No indiciation has been given to draw conclusions that Neidmars commitments to operation Red Spade wont increase in the next couple of months, it may be safe to assume that the 14th Battallion are the first of many military assets to be deployed over seas for the first time in a decade.

It is estimated to take the NNS Baltis three weeks to reach Valinor, and in that time men and equipment will be flying out from southern Neidmar in order to ensure that the man battalion and all the naval assets will be prepaired and ready. The 14th Battalion is preditect to be heading for the island of Gael where it will assist the Valinese government in securing the island from any rebel and terror cells that may be operating on the island. The presence of such groups is reported to be small however with many military commanders stating that the Marines where unlikely to see any combat at all during the operation. We approached the Ministry of defence for a comment on the current deployment of Neidmarrian troops to Valinor to get their stance on the current situation.

"Elements of the Neidmarrian Navy and Marine combat units are being deployed into Valinese territory as part of a greater OSEN operation, The NNS Baltis and elements of the 6th Marine Regiment are being deployed to fulfill commitments to OSEN and to assure our allies of our commitment to the organisation. It is also important to our national defence that Neidmarrian military force coordinate with our allies in order to facilitiate greater understanding of each others military mechanisms in the future to ensure the best possible outcomes.

Over the next few weeks men and equipment will continue to be flown out to Valinor in preperation for operation Red Spade, the operation is most likely going to pave the way for greater Neidmarrian participation accross the world under the OSEN banner.

Prime Minister Janos Ratkovic resigns

Image

Beljevo, HORNATYIA (June 28, 2015) -- Prime Minister Janos Ratkovic announced his intention to resign from his post as Prime Minister, dissolving his government and calling for early elections. He also resigned from his post as leader of the Renewal (Obnova) Party. Ratkovic had been Prime Minister since 2013 and leader of the Renewal Party since 2011. Former Justice Minister and Renewal MP Svetlan Sevcik has been named as acting Prime Minister until the new elections can be held.

Ratkovic's resignation has been expected for the last week, as the Ministry of Justice, under the control of Direction Party member Goran Slavik, announced an investigation into Ratkovic for corruption and bribe taking, largely relating to both the HornatFly scandal and the HornatPower scandal. Ratkovic denied he was a corrupt politician in his resignation speech, calling the accusations 'false' and saying that a conspiracy was the real cause behind the investigation.

Ratkovic cited the numerous issues facing the government, including a looming debt crisis and a failing economy, as the real reasons behind his resignation. Just hours before Ratkovic resigned, HornatFly, the national airline of Hornatyia, collapsed, cancelling all flights and stranding passengers going on holiday. The airline was originally meant to be a success story for Ratkovic, formed from the ashes of the bankrupt Hornatyian Airlines, this new airline was meant to become profitable while under joint government and private control. However unprofitable routes, rising fuel costs and limited cash meant HornatFly would face the same issues that Hornatyian Airlines faced.

Ratkovic has also faced widespread protests against his government, largely relating to the rising corruption and the HornatPower scandal. In late 2015, HornatPower announced they would hike up the fees for power usage and also shut down a major power plant in southern Hornatyia. They cited limited government funding into the power grid as one of the causes for the fee increase. Despite an initial promise of only 8% fee increase, this increased to 35% increase, an amount that would force millions of Hornatyians to either choose between electricity or other expenses. Ratkovic initially sided with the people and demanded that HornatPower keep to the 8% price increase, however turned to the side of HornatPower and called the protesters 'shameful'.

Public approval ratings of the government dropped sharply to their lowest levels since 1999, with only 22% of Hornatyians approving of the direction of the government. Most citing the rising unemployment and rising taxes as a major issue. Many also felt betrayed by Ratkovic, who ran on a policy of building a new Hornatyia, free of corruption. Many feel the opposite has occurred.

Despite Ratkovic's dissolution of the government and his own resignation, the justice Ministry confirmed the investigation into Ratkovic would continue. They however did not confirm if a arrest warrant would be issued for Ratkovic.

Ratkovic warned that Hornatyia was running low on money and that a solution would need to be found to pay back the loans to Estovakiva and other countries. Ratkovic's predecessor, Ratko Zhukovsky, took out a series of loans between 2008 and 2010, largely to fund massive infrastructure projects in the capital.

City of Beius has suffered extensive damage, true extent yet to be determined

The National Geophysics Institute has confirmed that a 8.0 magnitude earthquake has struck the Beius area of the Apostle Mountain Range, the Consul called an emergency meeting of the Cabinet at 10.30am, whilst reports of the damage have only just began pouring in. According the NGI, the earthquake struck at 09.14am, the height of rush hour and lasted for 8 minutes. According to some reports in the town of Vestuva several kilometres north of Beius, the earthquake has flattened the entire town and explosions have been heard at numerous mines across the region, the Interior Ministry has stated that this disaster maybe the "most catastrophic for decades". Initial reports from local emergency response services in Beius are reporting "tremendous damage and loss of life".

According to the NGI, the earthquake took place 6 miles below the surface, the epicentre is reportedly located several kilometres west of Beius, closest to the town of Vestuva. All phone based communications have been knocked out and unconfirmed reports of complete blackouts and no access to water have begun to pour in from across the effected region. The Interior Ministry has also received reports that the 09.00 train from Beius to Satu Mare has derailed, all of these reports so far cannot be confirmed.

The emergency meeting of the Cabinet this morning has provided the relief effort with huge resources, according to a statement by the Consul, the "Papal Army will deploy at minimum 15,000 personnel to aid in the relief of areas severely affected by this catastrophe, Rodarion Unicom has confirmed it will send free minutes and credit to all their pre-paid costumers in Satu Mare, it will also suspend billing for all post-paid costumers and will extend their coverage with additional mobile base stations to cover the homeless camps being assembled. We have also confirmed with the Papal Air Force that they will dispatch up to 50 heavy lift and transport helicopters, we may have been caught unawares by this tragedy, but our response will be swift and coordinated, we are here to save lives."

Beius Earthquake: What we know so far

Papal Army troops, police, fire fighters and paramedics have already reached Beius to aid in the recovery, according to one police officer based in Beius the earthquake lifted the station off the ground, "I was at the main desk doing admin work, when the desk itself vibrated a little, all the pens and papers rattled around and then as if like a bomb exploded, the entire ground shook, the building started cracking up so I ran outside, I must have been hit by falling debris because I became unconscious and woke up to find complete devastation."

Another eyewitness, who gave her story to NTV1 said, "I was walking down the main avenue towards my work, there were hundreds of people in front of me and behind me, the street is too narrow for cars, so really its just a huge walkway, its one of the best commutes I have ever enjoyed, every morning hundreds of people walk in the same direction along the street, we can meet co-workers, friends and family along the way to talk and chat. This morning when were walking, the quake happened and... it was like the entire street just fell apart, buildings on both sides just caved in on top of us all, I only survived because I jumped down a small alley way, I could have died if the buildings didn't fall the way they did" she quickly broke down into tears.

"All I remember is hearing hundreds of people scream before being crushed by buildings, it's a sick miracle I survived and none of my friends or colleagues did" she continued.

Destruction in Beius reportedly includes the city's hospital, in which the new emergency response wing has collapsed, six schools have reportedly been destroyed, the city's main coal power station has been knocked out of action after one its furnaces was destroyed in the earthquake. According to statements made by relief workers in the region, the town of Vestuva has been all but flattened, the city of 30,000 is expected to host the highest casualty figure with one soldier calling the scene "apocalyptic". A further 2,000 soldiers are expected to arrive in Beius in the coming days, the city's airport went mostly unscathed which is aiding the deployment of personnel and delivery of emergency supplies.

Consul Ceausescu in his press conference this morning has warned that the death toll with rise rapidly as more isolated areas become accessible and key infrastructure is rebuilt to gain access to larger urban centres, "as we gain access to further areas affected by this catastrophe, the extent of the damage and loss of life will become clearer, it is unfortunate but inevitable that the death toll will rise rapidly in the coming days, at this time we can only pray for those still alive, and pray for the families and friends of those living in the affected areas. Once the relief effort is truly underway, can citizens offer assistance needed" he said.

Due to the areas affected being mostly located in mountains and the slopes of the Apostle Mountain range, gaining access to devastated communities will take time and effort, the collapse of communication utilities in the area simply exacerbates the chaos and panic. With the GNI mapping areas mostly affected, the relief effort has a way to go before reaching isolated villages and mining towns north of the epicentre, according to the Interior Ministry the relief effort is desperate to reach the mining town of Vestuva, which was the closest to the epicentre. No communication has been reached in the town, with relief effort expressing serious concerns for the wellbeing of the towns 3,000 inhabitants.

Beius Earthquake: Live Updates

We are expected to receive more updates as time passes, we will begin advertising the Interior Ministry's Helpline upon it being released to the public, we urge people to avoid travelling to the affected areas due to the danger of aftershocks and to ensure all key roads leading to Beius are open to military and civil defence vehicles.

Ulthrannia recognizes Niyerian government

Grand Assembly debates the topic of recognition of Ardua's Niyeria

In a controversial and unpredicted move by the leadership of the Grand Ulthrannic Empire, Emperor Carlos X has announced that the Grand Ulthrannic Empire, after two votes held by the Grand Assembly and the Court of Nobles, recognizes the government of Adewale Ardua in Niyeria. The moves come after a petition by thirty nobles within the Court who wanted the Emperor to have the Empire recognize the new government in the Ashizwean country.

“It should be the action of our esteemed Empire to recognize the result of General Ardua, who saw the corruption that infected the government in Lavos, that worked for foreign interests in Konstantinople and Lowesport rather than the people of Niyeria, this is a victory not for us but first and foremost for the people of Niyeria." Carlos Matías de la Fuente, 3rd Duke of Mirallo said during his congratulatory speech in Los Reyes today, getting a standing ovation.

“The Upper House of this government, myself included, hopes that, with foresight and resolve, we can help this small Ashizwean state grow from the anarchy made from the years of dysfunctional government into a flowering state which can become the marker for future growth in the region” the Emperor said before concerned members of the Grand Assembly. The Grand Assembly vote passed modestly, passing thanks to a coalition vote by the Hijos de la Oro Imperio and Al-Qaisya based Development and Prosperity Party. The Court of Nobles vote passed with flying colours with very few nobles opposing the will of the Emperor.

Niyeria’s coup d’etat started months ago at the behest of then Chief of Army Staff, Adewale Ardua, led military forces against the civilian government of Niyeria. The current government in exile, nor neighbouring Eagleland nor former colonial master Arthurista have made comments on the matter, but it is expected to be less than jovial.

“The Grand Ulthrannic Empire does not shy away from the fact that this government came into fruition by military means.” Vicar De Fey said to journalists outside his office in Los Reyes “However, sometimes the ends justify the means, especially when tackling the corrupt, inefficient and CDI backed government of President Charles Adeboye"

Concerns are being laid out against De Fey and Carlos X due to the fact that there was very little time to debate the issue in either houses of government. Isabella Perez Belmonte, the President of the Grand Assembly, issued her own petition on behalf of the United Left Party that the recognition be held on ice so that representatives could debate it further before going ahead for a second vote.

The Economic Factor:

“There is an old saying ‘Nothing happens in a vacuum’, the Emperor of Ulthrannia did not just decide to recognize the President Ardua’s new junta government for the sake of it. This helps with the Ulthrannic Empire’s new geopolitical goals in Ashizwe that utilize a less militant and more economic modus operandi” writes Jacob Greenstein, adjutant prof. of foreign relations at Almania College “What is funny to note is that of the thirty nobles who signed the petition for the Emperor to recognize Niyeria, half of them were apart of businesses that had direct interests in Ashizwe. It would be silly for anyone to believe that the Emperor didn’t know what he was doing.”

As the recognition is signed, a conference was being held by the United Ashizwean Partnership, Ulthrannic and Rodarian businesses sat at a roundtable held by Duke Mario Aníbal de Villalobas, the CEO of the infamous Fortaleza Internacional and Duke of Alba.

“The UAP is providing a service that the continent of Ashizwe has yet to see in its modern history” Andre De Santa, the official spokesperson of the United Ashizwean Partnership began in the address to the media "We are ensuring that the region will not fall to the interests of other parties like it did during the days of Imperialism, to open the doorway for prosperity and ascension so that our Ashizwean brothers may join us in the first world, this includes of course Niyeria."

There are reportedly five Ulthrannic companies who are beginning operations in Niyeria. Fortaleza Internacional’s construction wing has finished a two year contract with the new government to begin reconstruction of infrastructure, this effort is being partnered with Semental Rail, who are planning to build a light rail network in Lavos.
Vanguardia Río de Oro, Ulthrannia’s largest agricultural corporation is sending two of its subsidiaries companies to begin operations in areas of the country that have been deemed safe. Manodeobra LLC, an employment agency from Amaneceria, is planning to set up in Lavos to help Niyerians gain work with new Uthrannic businesses that are coming to the country. There are also reportedly two Rodarian corporations that are planning to establish themselves in Niyeria though the identity of these companies are yet unknown.

"We at the UAP hope that our efforts, backed by plucky and industrious Ulthrannian citizens, can make Niyeria a benchmark for future Ashizwean development"

More developments as they come.
