Avila VII announces support for Emmerian-led intervention in Bogoria
Emperador Avila VII announced his support for the Emmerian and CDI efforts in Bogoria
Dinsar – Astrid: Emperador Vitor Antón Avila addressed the nation this afternoon announcing his support for the Emmerian-led actions in Bogoria and stated that Temuair would "stand firm behind the Central Defense Initiative as its members attempt to restore peace and order to the war torn nation."
President Vaziri announced May 11th that the United Republic of Emmeria would begin actively supporting the government forces of Bogoria. Shortly after the President's address, the United Republic Air Force initiated Operation Twilight Flare and involves large scale strikes against rebels targets within Bogoria. According to President Vaziri's statement, these airstrikes are being launched to "support the Oured ceasefire agreement, signed on behalf of the militants by Rodarion." an agreement both sides claim has been broken with fighting continuing around the Rakovnik Enclave and areas west of Librantowa. On April 14th, a surface to surface missile struck a field hospital near Plowy, killing 188 people. On April 28, The Office for Inter-Services Intelligence, Rodarion's primary external intelligence agency, released a report claiming the Bogorian government purposefully targeted the hospital, though these claims have been disputed by Emmeria and other CDI-allied nations. To date, no third party investigation has been conducted. Fighting resumed around Rakovnik on May 5th and has been ongoing. According to President Vaziri's statement, the majority of the Emmeria airstrikes were centered around Rakovnik in support of the embattled government forces.
Even before Avila VII took office in December of 2014, the Aisling government had announced its support for the Republic of Bogoria and has consistently refused to recognize the proclaimed Christian Republic of Bogoria as a legitimate government. Earlier this week, he urged the Chamber of Burgesses to support him in lending "any and all support" to the ongoing CDI efforts in Bogoria. Though the aount and type of support Avila VII intends is unknown at this time, the possibility of military action has not been ruled out. However, Defense Minister Rodrigo Breixo Lua stated that it would be "highly unlikely" that the United Republic would request, or even desire, military assistance in this case.
Political analyst Dores Barcia from the Luathas Academy in Abel remarked on the situation, stating "No one can deny that organizations within Rodarion, such as the Association of the Immaculate Heart, have been assisting the displaced people of a war torn nation and that not all of the Rodarion involvement in Bogoria is negative. However, it can also not be denied that the Rodarion has a vested interest in seeing the so-called Christian Republic of Bogoria succeed, thereby becoming an extension of the Papal governments will. "
Political critics of Emperador Avila, particularly members of the Homefront Party, criticized the Emperador's announcement. Party leader Anxo Cordeiro told Imperial Novas "Why? There's no reason for us to involve ourselves in what is literally occurring across the planet. We have no interest in Bogoria, or who controls it, we have no interest in Rodarion's actions in that part of the world. We're not a member of CDI, nor do we ever plan to be, and so we should not care about their efforts to pacify a nation that ultimately does not matter to us."
Minister Branca Iria Freire of the Gliocan Temple and chief administrator of Glioca's Way, a non-profit charity organization and part of the Gliocan Temple operating both inside Temuair and internationally, slammed both leaders comments. "Its not our fight, and we should not participate in it. However to dismiss the suffering of the downtrodden, the displaced, and the disheveled as "not our problem" flies in the face of everything Glioca has taught us. It must not stand. I implore our leaders to not involve themselves in senseless violence and instead offer a hand in peace and friendship to the suffering souls of Bogoria."
In Febuary 2015, Noela Noya, a reporter working for Imperial Novas, was kidnapped while en route to Librantowa by Bogorian rebels while working as a corespondent in Bogoria. She remains missing, though the Bogorian government claims to be continuing the search. Her parents Lino and Catarina Noya stated that they remain hopeful that she will return home safely, and that they would support an intervention into Bogoria.
