OFFICIAL CUP OF HARMONY 39 BID
Members of the Executive World Cup Committee,
It is with great honor that I present to you the official host bid by the Empire of Newmanistan for the 39th edition of the Cup of Harmony. This is a solo hosting bid. Most Cups of Harmony have two co-hosts, this one does not simply because it is a very last minute decision to bid based on the need for there to be a bid by someone! Other Cups of Harmony have been solo-hosted, though, including the recent Cup of Harmony 38 by Dancougar, so it is not unprecedented.
I) But what if the Rockets choke??
At the time of bid preparation, it appeared likely that Newmanistan was going to qualify for the World Cup Proper. If Newmanistan should happen to choke in qualifying and not make the proper, another person will be asked to scorinate the qualifying group in which the Empire ends up in. My puppet, West Newmanistan, will not participate in the CoH. (Hopefully this will be because they qualified for the World Cup, but if not, they will not be here).
II) How will it be scorinated?
With the same NSFS that is presently being used for qualifying now.
III) What about RP bonus?
RP bonus will be cumulative but there will be a 50% depreciation of the accumulated amount after every second matchday. Quality will be valued over quantity. Originality, humor, coherency, interacting with other participants, or simply having a theme you roleplay out are things that score well.
IV) What are the eligibility requirements?
One roster, posted between the opening of the WC47 Roster thread and the cutoff time of the final matchday of qualifying AND one roleplay posted between the opening of the WC47 roleplay thread and the cutoff time of the final matchday of qualifying. (I was going to give an allotment of a few hours after the final matchday’s cutoff time, but let’s face it, if they didn’t roleplay during qualifying anything after the final matchday is likely only done to become eligible once they knew they were heading here.) This applies for everyone regardless of rank.
V) And the format?
Powers of four are great. 20 and 24 work. 32 would be wonderful. Other numbers can be worked with as well. We’ll see what the final number of eligible nations is and take it from there. It will be a customary format that makes sense, so don’t worry!
VI) Run your experience by us again....
Sure. Newmanistan has co-hosted the Cup of Harmony twice before, the 33rd and 35th versions, also using NSFS. In addition, I have hosted three World Bowls (1, 2, and 5) and this is a competition that also uses NSFS. Don’t forget the Empire Charity Cup either, which also used NSFS. Then there’s two World Baseball Classics (8 and 11), and two World Lacrosse Championships (2 and 4). Also doing the Stock Car racing thing. With that, I can ensure that the 39th Cup of Harmony will be in safe hands.
*- Do not worry about conflicts with the NationStates Stock Car Racing Association. That will be put on hold during the days of the Cup of Harmony. Nor with the World Lacrosse Championships. That wasn’t going to start until this was over, anyway.
