In this RP, there are not multiple nations. There is one, single nation (named Columbia, NOT the South American nation) that we will all be playing in, a fictitious nation, of course. Each player will be a character, a person, a position. For instance, I will (at the beginning, until the next election) be the president, initially. From there, I'll make up the president's backstory, political ideals, political party, etc. To get to the point, you're not going to be selecting from a list of parties, a list of positions, no. You'll be making up everything about your character and their position, and if it's not completely ridiculous, I'll definitely accept it. Now, although the nation will initially be a democracy, whoever is elected after me may change that. Perhaps I'll be elected once again, and things will remain the same. The actions of your characters will over time shape the nation, for better or for worse, hopefully the former. Know that you don't have to be a political position, you could, for example, be the leader of some fringe party. You could be a journalist who reports for a political tabloid. I would even allow you to be a generic accountant, who simply votes each election. It's not just the country that you shape with your actions, you shape the entire RP. If a dictator takes power and abolishes all political positions, the players could become rebel leaders. If they wanted to, and didn't like the way the RP was going, they could just leave.

- President Andrews hesitantly makes a deal with a media conglomerate (Empire Enterprises) to tax those also focusing on the services they sold by 5% extra. He proceeds to tweet about it on Twitter, something the conglomerate is less than happy about. This tax is colloquially known as the 'Competitor Tax'.

- An unknown terrorist group (Black Phoenix) blacks out all of the lights (not other electronics, though) in Jamestown for several seconds.

- President Andrews orders then-General Dunn to create a taskforce to find the terrorists, although specifies to NOT spy on the citizens of Columbia.

- Columbia purchases 38 Charioteer tanks from Finland.

- President Andrews disbands the taskforce as they'd found no evidence pointing to any single terrorist group, little over a month after the taskforce was created.

- A Colonel in the Columbian Military is attacked by a group of unknown assailants armed with guns after uncovering evidence implicating the Black Phoenix.

- Columbian Soldiers storm the home of the aforementioned colonel, apprehending the attackers and wounding or killing many of them. The Colonel survives, but has sustained many injuries.

- President Andrews appoints his cabinet, selecting one cabinet member from each party show as to not show favoritism, not even to his own party.

- A military recruiter by the name of 'Qualters' is brutally murdered by Black Phoenix operatives in his own home, in an attempt at torture gone wrong.

- The Black Phoenix terrorist group goes into hiding, having not been seen since. Few of its operatives were captured, and those who were committed suicide so they couldn't be interrogated.

- President Andrews replaces the 'Competitor Tax' on corporations that had been enacted about a year before with a 5% tax on all major corporations.

- Senator John Highshore and Radical Left Party member Maria Stawski, who had been having occasional sex at a hotel, are caught by Maria's ex-husband, James "Jim" Stawski. Jim shoots John and Maria, being arrested in the lobby of the hotel.

- President Andrews gives an empowering speech, and declares that he will seek election.

- The elections are favorable for both the Pioneer Party and the Progressive Party. The Liberty Party receives no votes, and is removed from the Senate, replaced by the Radical Left United Front, having an equal number of seats to the Pioneer and Progressive Parties. The National Civic Faction also gets some seats, although not as many as the other parties. President Andrews is reelected, running unopposed.

- A fire caused by an explosion claims much of the Progressive Party's headquarters, killing 184 within the building.

- The leader of the Liberty Party shoots himself in the face, and the Liberty Party subsequently falls apart.

- Secretary of Defense Dunn (formerly General Dunn) forms a counter-terrorism division for the military, as well as a special forces division. One of these two is made out of the former militias that roamed about Columbia. These militias are forcibly integrated into one of these divisions.

- The deadliest disaster in Columbian history occurs, with a sandstorm of epic proportions killing 927 Columbian citizens, and destroying the Grand Columbian Arena as well as several other buildings on the outskirts of Jamestown.

Rules:

1. No godmodding. Plain and simple. For instance, don't say the outcome of the presidential election. You can say who you vote for, and you can control elections within your political party as long as no one else is in it.
2. If you leave, could you tell me why? Not really a rule, I just want to improve my RPs in the future.
3. I know this is vague, but don't do anything ridiculous. I don't want to see your character buying the United States for a U.S. five dollar bill early in the game.
4. The magic of convenience does not exist here. If you want to, for instance, stage a coup, you need intense preparation. Where do you get the guns? How do you get all of the people on your side? How do you avoid the government finding out about you? How do you plan the coup? etc.
5. You can have multiple characters, but know your limits. Don't play as every person in the Senate (if there is one) for instance.
6. Try not to get too off-topic on the OOC. I'm pretty lax, but I have limits.
7. If you're planning on taking a vacation, or just aren't going to post for a while, please tell me. Definitely tell me if you're leaving permanently, so I can kill your characters.
8. Lastly, if there's something I haven't mentioned here, but you think it would be a bad idea, or should be against the rules, you probably shouldn't do it. At least check with me before you do.

Some things to note:

1. This nation occupies the space of Bir Tawil and some of the surrounding area, at the beginning of the game, however it will likely expand later on due to actions of players.
2. I'm online from 3:00 PM CST to 10:00 PM CST, roughly.
3. As I said before, as long as your app isn't ridiculous or against the rules, I will almost certainly accept it. At the very least, I'll tell you why I didn't.
4. I can't stress this enough. Literally (in the actual meaning of the word) anything feasible in the real world can occur. Anything. The government could be made up of sentient A.I's in the future. You can definitely attempt to bribe other players.
5. Your characters can die. They cannot, until the technology is discovered, be immortal, either.
6. At the beginning of the game, the year will be 2015. There is no set procedure for advancing time, it will occur when convenient.
7. The rest of Earth, at the beginning of the game, is pretty much exactly the same as it is today.
8. The elections will occur in the OOC thread, since I couldn't feasibly simulate every vote. Each participating player gets a single vote.
9. If you have any questions at all, you can ask me. I will answer any question I know the answer to, related to this RP.
10. The Chaos Edition is mainly so people can do ridiculous stuff, without ruining the actual RP. Mostly just for fun.

Backstory/Biography: James was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, on June 8th, 1971. He first became interested in politics during the re-election of Ronald Reagan, who James generally agreed with. With not very much to do, he became more and more absorbed in local and national politics, skipping directly to that section of the newspaper every day once he returned home. As interested as he was in politics, however, he never successfully entered the political system. He was never even elected for a comparatively unimportant job, such as an alderman for a small town. By 2013, he finally decided that he would take action, after realizing he would have to deal with Obama for nearly another four years. He decided that somewhere along the line, American politics went horribly wrong. He had heard of things called "NationStates", such as Sealand and Freedonia, but he wanted real land, not some area in the ocean. Finally, he stumbled across Bir Tawil online, and vowed to move there, and begin his own nation, the right way.
On June 9th, 2013, James moved to Bir Tawil, building cities and inviting people from all over the world who were fed up with their governments as well, and people who simply wanted to begin anew, in a new nation. He decided he would base his nation off of the United States' system, however on a much smaller scale. He allowed the people coming to his nation to decide what they wanted to be in his nation, and if they could do it, they would do it. While James had an optimistic view for this nation, he probably shouldn't have had one, as the nation (or at least his view of it) was doomed from the very beginning, as all great nations must someday fall.

Name: Craig Miller Louis
Gender: Male
Age: 32
Backstory/Biography: Craig Miller Louis was born in Omaha, Nebraska, on March 3rd, 1984. His parents were David Harrison Louis and Jennifer Walker Louis (maiden name Henderson). Craig remained in Nebraska until he was 18 years old. He wasn't very outgoing while he was in high school, and tended to keep a very low profile in general. However, when he received word of a nation being founded in the terra nullius known as Bir Tawil, he decided he would move there as he had no real ties to the place where he lived. Once he arrived, he was a bit dismayed by the lack of human settlement, as this was still early in the nation's history. At first, he attempted to be independent, but found that he simply was unable to garner very much support, politically, without being in a party. Reluctantly, he joined the Pioneer Party, even though he himself didn't really enjoy representing a party, and would prefer to represent his own views rather than those of a faceless entity. Regardless, he was elected to Senate, something he was overjoyed with, and decided that he would make himself a force for his own beliefs, even if his party might not agree with some of them. Craig strongly opposes President Andrews, who he believes is someone not willing to take action and defend their own views, as well as someone making themselves out to be the nation's janitor rather than its leader.

Leader: James Nicholas Andrews
History: The Pioneer Party was founded when the nation itself was founded, by James Nicholas Andrews. It is based on the ideals of Manifest Destiny, and the traditions of the American pioneers and settlers, as well as many of the tenets of the Republican Party.
Emblem:

1. Honesty and transparency with the citizens of the nation.

Angus was born to a nuclear family, a mom who stayed at home and a dad who worked as an investment banker, he grew up in Toronto, Canada. His parents had him go to a private school for a quality education. When he was young his parents wanted him to learn how to learn, so they hired a harpsichord teacher and thus he learned to play. He went through school and did well but when he turned 14 he began volunteering in the cadet movement. In high school he took courses in legal studies, finances, gym, and colonial history as options. When he was 17 he graduated from high school and the following September went to the university of Toronto to study finance, an education that would take him to his 26th year in life, at which point he got a job at Imperial Bank. He worked there for 4 years until the crash of 2008 wound up getting him laid off. But with the elections approaching he decided to try his luck. Not succeeding he decided that a new approach was necessary, and began investing his money when the economy was down in rental property and decided to go to Newfoundland and Labrador to study nautical science. With Angus doing fairly well at the marine institute within memorial university, he got his certificate in nautical sciences by 2012. When he got out he put some of his money into the stock market, into a new start-up named Facebook as past of a bet with his buddy who believed that Facebook would crumble like the internet bubble. With a masters degree from the U of T, a diploma of technology in nautical science, a real estate rental business, a failed election, and 4 years banking experience under his belt Angus decided to try his luck on the ocean as a deck officer. He found it fun and decided to continue for 2 years. In 2014 he went to Scotland for his dad's funeral and had a meet-up with his family of families (brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc.). With money coming in from his corporate interests he decided that he wished to try his luck at politics again. After giving the company ample notice of his "retirement" he ran once again in the political world and lost. Dissatisfied he moved to the middle easts newest country to continue his political career.

Backstory/Biography: Born to a heavily pacifist and anti-war family in America, Richard's life was tough from the very beginning. He was always at odds with his parents about everything, significant or not. Dunn's family members despised his blatant jingoism and support for gunboat diplomacy, often refusing to help in situations that required, leaving him to fend for himself. Eventually, Richard left as soon as he was old enough to join the military. Unsurprisingly, he was born to be a leader and a capable soldier. Even the top brass was impressed with his performance. As soon as he obtained the rank of Major at 34, disagreements began to pop up between him and his commanding officers, who were scared of his growing influence in the government and tried to purposefully pass him over for promotions.

Dissatisfied with these recent occurrences, the Major and a sizable component of the men under his command left and joined a new nation's military, located in Bir Tawil. Andrews was one of his friends as a child and sometimes his only friend due to his bad attitude and aggressive personality.
Appearance: Avoids showing his face in public due to paranoia, but can be summarized as a US Military Major's uniform with general's markings and a balaclava.

- Mission: Defend the state via armed force and secure the stability of the nation.
- Size: 3,150 soldiers in five battalions

- Mission: To provide detailed intelligence for the rest of the military

Backstory/Biography: Pierre-Antoine Jean-Baptiste Chauveau was born in France, a descendant of a revolutionary that fought for freedom and liberty in France. That man established a tradition in the Chauveau family, one in which they would seek out and attempt to establish freedom for all. The family eventually got rich, being rewarded vastly for a relative that did well for Napoleon. Another even worked on the statue of Liberty. They used their money and influence to great lengths, garnering support and friends everywhere. Pierre is a member of that family and he has arrived in the newly created nation in order to spread the belief in freedom and if it ends up giving him more money, who's to complain?

Backstory/Biography: Dezmond was born in September 9, 1985. He grew up in a middle class family in East London, England. He grew to be a good student, a proper Anglican, and a rather pleasant individual. When he reached the age of 18, he enlisted in the Army. He had considered himself a patriotic man, and was more than willing to serve his nation. He was immedieantly deployed to Iraq after basic training. His unit was deployed south of Fallujah. He and his unit were to advance with an American recognizance team to scope out the defenses that the republican guard had set up. upon arriving within half a click of the town, his unit was ambushed. Every single member of the party was killed, except for himself and an American corporal. They were then taken back to the Republican HQ in Fallujah, were they were then tortured for the next 8 weeks. Upon his rescue by American Army Rangers team some time later, he was discovered to be brutally scared all across his body. He was rendered temporarily mute. The American was found completely eviscerated acrossed his body, sitting across from where Dezmond had been.
Upon his return home, Dezmond went through 6 months of both physical and mental therapy. In that time he fell into a deep depression. After a while, he stopped going to the therapy sessions. He left his home and wandered the streets of East London. After about two weeks of this wandering, he discovered a recruiting office. In this office, he saw boys the same age he had been signing up to join into the army. He was disgusted. He continued to walk the streets. He saw a homeless man being beat up by 3 thugs. He was appalled. On that same day, he saw prostitutes working on the corner. A long black Jaguar rolled up to them. Inside, a man flipped out some serious cash and pulled one of the women in. Dezmond knew then what his true feelings were. Hatred. He hated this society. He hated how society made those boys want to throw themselves into war, how they made those thugs beat up a man with nothing for nothing, how we all idolized the rich. He was no longer depressed, rather... invigorated. He made up his mind. He would tear this society down, and from the ashes, man's golden age would be born. He went underground, deep underground. Discovering new ways to cause chaos and building up his knowledge, waiting for the day he would strike back against the society that took everything from him.
