You know that feeling when you think you're editing a post, but wind up deleting a thread? Yeah...so here it is again! Steven Universe Thread!

And the Stevenbomb just kicked off with "Rose's Scabbard". And sweet crimeny, that was sad.

Such a good episode! I love how they've been exploring everyone's grief about Rose, and how grief isn't always a pretty or productive thing. I also love how we keep getting more and more hints of the past and overaching plot. Each episode just makes me want to see more. When this ep was finished I immediately thought "why isn't it tomorrow yet?"

(Funny that I used to not be that interested, but now I'm completely hooked...)

I watched that show once or twice. I didn't really like it, but then again, I didn't really understand it either.

Fair enough. I didn't think it was great at the start. I'd say it starts hitting its stride around "Bubble Buddies".

Yeah, it definitely took some time to really get good. Not that it was bad before, just... not as great as it became?

I don't like most new Cartoon Network shows anyway, other than Adventure Time and Regular Show. But then again, I'm not as crazy about them as older ones like Johnny Bravo.

And wtf is with the show Uncle Grandpa? It's like the creators were on acid or something.

As for me, I liked the fusion theory for Garnet, but I didn't want to jump on it too early, you know? And now not only do we have confirmation, but we have it like this: via a stable, consistent relationship between her two constituent parts. With romantic overtones! SU has had its subtext before, but this is the heaviest yet, and it makes me glad for representation and just because they were incredibly cute together.

Considering the series' track record, I'm sure we'll get more info about Ruby and Sapphire in time, too. Things keep coming back and becoming more important, so something this important at the start is bound to not be glossed over or forgotten.

That aside, I also enjoyed seeing and hearing reference of other gems. Jasper was interesting, and I'm really curious who Yellow Diamond is. And even just interactions between who we saw were great. I loved Lapis Lazuli's trick at the end; I got chills.

Finally, it's really great to see how much Steven has grown. He's become so responsible, and I am very pleased to see his kindness and caring rewarded in the narrative. If not for those traits I doubt we would have learned this much about gems in general, or that Lapis Lazuli would have ever been freed from the mirror, let alone tried to help Steven and the Crystal Gems. It's great character development, nice and organic, and very rewarding.

It was classic watching Tumblr reach for stuff to be offended about. When like 90% of the fanbase enjoyed it, the SJW's said UG dressed as Rose was "transmisogynistic". Some people just hate having fun.
