Protests Erupt Across Rentalla

Protestors in Galra, the capital of Lontara province,

Thousands of people from across Rentalla are taking to the streets, protesting the actions of the government in the nation's capital. Most take issue with the state of martial law that is now being enforced in Kiraia after riots led to the deaths of nearly three hundred people.

After riots broke out in the city the Kiraian Imperial guard had been called to keep peace. No one has died since the military intervened in the riot, but many Rentallans claim that the military had no place stepping in. So far protests have occurred in every provincial capital, and most of the nation's major cities.

Meanwhile organizors for the protests in Kiraia promise that they will take to the streets once again. The governor of Kiraia, and the mayor of the capitol both promise that they will take very measure to ensure the city's safety.

President Olikeron christens Luepola's newest submarine at Kilíts

Saturday, March 21, 2015 - President and Generalissimo Valmer Olikeron, accompanied by the Commander of the Navy, Marza Maccenkirken, made a public appearance this morning at the launching of Luepola's newest attack submarine, giving a short speech.

In the speech, he praised the workers of the Kilíts Military Shipyard, who had completed construction of the submarine in record time. "I am extremely proud of these hard workers. Their toil and sacrifice has reaped a great reward for our nation, one that will ensure our longevity."

After lauding the men of the shipyard, Valmer proceeded to lecture on his new plan for the navy. "Through extensive discussion and planning with my loyal and industrious advisor, Marshal Maccenkirken, we have decided to update our navy's mission. The Luepolan Naval Force will step up its presence in the Bay of Edenguard, and will maintain of control of the waters, to better defend not only Luepola, but all the nations of the Bay of Edenguard, from aggression, whether from outside the bay or within. Piracy and terrorism in the bay will be nonexistent. And should a foreign aggressor attempt to enter the bay, then may God have mercy on them, because our navy will not. This is our new mission, our new vision, for the Bay of Edenguard. And this submarine here is the next step to our vision's realization."

Valmer and Marza then smashed ceremonial bottles of champagne over the bow of the submarine, christening it the Adengorsk as the submarine was set in the water.

The international community has yet to respond to Olikeron's statements. The responses of Bratislav, Carloso, Vangaziland and Mirevia will likely be made well publicized in the near future.

Vannish Admiral Congratulates Luepolan Navy

Vice Admiral Chris Jegwidden, the second highest ranking officer in the Vannish military, gave a speech from the Royal Vannish Submarine Yard. In it he praised the Luepolan Navy for their aggressive stance on defending their interests and their homeland.

The admiral also used the event to praise the Vannish Navy and its own established submarine force. Its ballistic submarines, located in waters throughout the region and world, help keep Vangaziland out of the current rash of major warfare that is in vogue with most world leaders.

There was a Q&A session and a reporter brought up the aggressive stance and how it relates to Vangaziland.

"This is not a threat at all. Vannish trade to Mirevia and throughout the region will continue unchallenged. These are long standing agreements and even the most hostile navies don't jump in and randomly mess with us. Of course, there are still random pirate attacks on our shipping. These are the sorts of enemies that our Navy fights alongside other nations throughout the region. It just doesn't make the news. We have no desire to even get near the Mirevia-Luepola border. If they want to help watch our ships with their new submarines, we welcome it."

The Vannish Navy favors the submarine doctrine and is mostly based on ballistic and attack submarine squadrons.

The briefing reinforced the idea of Vannish isolationism. Besides soldiers deployed to humanitarian missions in places like Wrexwic, on training assignments with FSA nations or deployed in security of other arrangements, the Vannish military remains at peace.

Vannish officers have publicly expressed a willingness to conduct joint exercises with Luepola. Formal talks have not yet reached that point. Vangaziland and Luepola have conducted business in the past, including the recently declassified purchase of four Luepolan Erelo stealth bombers.

Wolfram Pact Treaty Signed With New Carloso

The Confederacy of Bavarian States has announced that it has reached a great ending to peaceful talks concerning a research agreement between New Carloso and the Confederacy of Bavarian States. Both nations have been involved together on several top secret designs, though not revealed as per being classified. However, both nations have agreed to openly work together on various military technologies to remain ahead in the arms race that has become growingly intensified in the past few months. Both parties have pledged to use their technologies they discover to also benefit consumers should there be a way to help improve the way of life within both nations.

The Pact is meant for purely research and trade, meaning this is the first time in 100 years where a nation has been permitted to fully import without major trade restrictions. We will have to see in the future where we can see how relations between New Carloso and the Confederacy of Bavarian States will lead to. For now, it's a landmark moment in both nations' histories.

Central Viridisian political analyst magazine "The Viridisian Republic" interprets the Confederate Government to follow the policies set by most of Atlas' infamous and tyrannic states against the AU which is to be established by Da'klawedi on a later date.

TLAXANE'IIS', DA'KLAWEDI - The Chancellor of the Democratic State of Da'klawedi Keijin Ishdu'yeet announced six days ago in a televised announcement, seen in many of the Region's public-service broadcasters, the establishment of the Atlasian Union, an intergovernmental organisation that will serve to maintain peace in Atlas. The AU's objectives were not stated but the Chancellor said that "this organisation will attempt to stop wars, bring peace, and help faltering nations" similar to the League of Nations, the United Nations, and the World Assembly. The AU's headquarters location was also not stated but Carlossian morning television show "Good Life Carloso" predicted that the headquarters will "obviously be in Tlaxane'iis', Da'klawedi because the Da'klawedians established the AU."

Fellow Cetlasi and Viridisians are keen to this grand idea of our own little World Assembly which Viridisolum does not formally recognize but somehow observes in special occasions notably the Saint-Pierre-Aux-Lyons Incident which ended very badly and in favour of neither sides. This organization may be the answer to conflicts that we were not able to end without any losses, conflicts so similar to what we have experienced in the past such as the Atlasian Wars of 2015.

The Atlasian Wars was caused by border disputes between the Grand Kingdom of Hayabusa and Artalia and the Democratic Union of Cydonia following Cydonian servicemen crossing borders into Hayabusa shots were immediately fired and all hell broke loose involving four of Atlas' great powers: The United Imperial Republic of Chazicaria, the Convist Republic of Roski, Hayabusa, and the Empire of Valaran tagging along several other powers into the conflicts which lasted for two months until the Atlas Negotiations Conference held in Calingus, the Dominion of the High Lords that failed to exert enough effort to produce a solution to the ongoing conflicts. A temporary cease-fire was agreed in the Conference that will last in an indefinite amount of time until another shot is fired once again.

The Nation, the Nation of Ceneria, the High Lords, the Karlaesist Meritocracy of New Chilokver, the Republic of West Aurelia, the Commonwealth of Globus and the Republic of New Carloso are the only countries so far which made evident and resolute actions for regional peace and harmony. Disappointingly the Dictatorship of the Sasutary Islands, the Republic of Bratislav, the Grand Atheist Duchy of Hallowell, and the Empire of Valaran ignored the possibilities and any other means of peace.

The Nation has already exerted too much effort for peace since last year's May, His Imperial Majesty's Government in Viridisolum in particular who attempts to diplomatically impose conclusion in every conflict it takes notice of. The zenith of it all is the Atlas Summit on Regional Peace where 12 out of 44 Atlasian states participated, well, supposed to participate but suddenly when the dignitaries began arriving into Viridisolum the Cydonians and Hayabusans are getting killed in either side of their respective borders. Then the good government of the High Lords organized a meeting for Atlasian head of states during the the Atlasian Wars. 25 out of 44 Atlasian states participated including our country and, unlike the Regional Summit planned by Prime Minister Xerxia Medor and the rest of His Imperial Majesty's Council of Ministers and cabinet, the meeting went on as I've said and so on. To top this all Grand Secretary Han and the Vice-Regal Consort Marin Ralmur were virtually ignored in the meeting. It shows in the documentation of the Imperial Government Palace Local and Foreign Affairs Information Office of the Negotiations Conference labelled "CPLFAIO 567093" and may be accessed in His Imperial Majesty's Archives in Viridisolum, Imperial Henstrakon.

"Honourable gentlemen and women of the High Lords and of fellow Atlasian states, I am here as the herald of His Imperial Majesty’s Viridisian Realm with His Imperial Majesty’s Grand Secretary, the Vice Regal Representative, as my witness. The Right Honourable Leader, I, and the rest of His Imperial Majesty's Government supports the Valaran Empire and the Republic of Bratislav, Bratislav however should revoke its intentions on the Democratic Union of Cydonia as it has been, based on the previous statement of the Foreign Minister of Cydonia Štefan Kováč, already resolved." The Grand Secretary continued.

We have always admired and respected Bratislav as a great power in the Region and we adamantly expect them to play a role solely and sincerely concerning peace to appreciably contribute their compromise in this conference of negotiations for regional peace, hence to completely fulfil their role as such power.

Cydonia may be what many has described 'Communist', a Proletarian Democracy or a 'People's Dictatorship.' But then again they are also a country, a country that hopes also for peace like all of us. Many of us speak of peace yet many of us also rejects notions for such just because the solution does not stand in one's favour. We are here to make peace not our also or own advantages."

"I remember when my great-grandparents used to tell me how great were Cydonia when it was under the Valaran Empire and after when they briefly became a democracy. They suffered yet my great-grandparents saw them differently. Everything might've been different if they remained. But as we've closed that chapter of history I realized." The Grand Secretary concluded.

Grand Secretary Ralmur's speech to the dignitaries of the Negotiations Conference was ultimately ignored as our regional summit was treated by these heads of state and government and representatives. Now the Da'klawedians and the rest of Atlas highly expect this great country to submit to the AU without contemplating their treatment of mockery and insults against the Viridisian Government. A point the Viridisian Republic clearly sees:

Following the speech he (the Grand Secretary) so solemnly enunciated the bastards of the Negotiations Conference spoke unto others and replied to each other's statements and proclamations pretending that His Excellency and Her Excellency were never there. Now these great leaders lacking diplomatic knowledge think that the Great Equatorial Dominion will just join this new Atlasian venture following the failure of the League of Atlasian Nations established by the Curentean Queers (the Royal Republic of Qubec) that was overruled by the psychotic states of Atlas when the LAN was supposed to maintain "international peace and security, promoting human rights, fostering social and economic development, protecting the environment, and providing humanitarian aid in cases of famine, natural disaster, and armed conflict" when the countries that administer the organization is composed of states against peace and security, violators of human rights, backwaters of social and economic development, polluters of mother nature, and selfish imperialists. Basically the LAN will go against humanity if it was to become what it was to be. Thank God they went down but now Hell is upon us again. And Viridisolum this time will not be deceived.

Operation Kraken a success!

In a press conference this morning, the Admiral of the fleet of the United Socialist States of Stasnov, Alexey Korzhakov, the commander of the Stasnovan Revolutionary Navy announced that Operation Kraken was a complete success. In fact, Admiral of the Fleet Korzhakov stated that the exercise was "without doubt the most succesful Stasnovan submarine exercise in decades". Operation Kraken was held by the 6th Fleet of the Revolutionary Navy south of Yuznaya, on the 22nd of March, 2015. The objective of the Operation was for the SRNS Visari, a vessel belonging to the newly-commissioned Vaegir-Class Nuclear Powered Ballistic submarines, to launch its full payload of the AKBR-27PL Anti-Ship Ballistic Missiles in a single salvo. The target of the missiles was a group of target ships simulating an enemy Carrier Strike Group.

This was what Admiral Korzhakov had to say:

"On March 22, 2015 at 19 hours and 07 minutes, a complete volley of AKBR-27PL Anti-Ship Ballistic Missiles was carried out by the SRNS Visari- commanded by Captain Yuri Vladimirovich Kuznetsov -a submarine of the Vaegir-Class of Nuclear-Powered Ballistic Missile submarines. The main target of the missiles was a group of decommissioned ships of the Revolutionary Navy, simulating a hostile Carrier Strike Group that was approaching our coasts to conduct aerial operations. All 26 were launched successfuly in the volley, and they experienced no problems during their flight, and all 156 warheads were deployed. The BROS satellite targeting system along with the guidance systems of the missiles themselves worked perfectly and guided the warheads directly on the target ships, with only two warheads missing their target. Operation Kraken is a message to all the enemies of our Motherland that think of dragging Stasnov into a naval conflict, it's a message for them to think twice. The High Command, as well as the government and the comrade Premier himself, are greatly pleased with the results of the exercise. Operation Kraken is without doubt the most succesful Stasnovan submarine exercise in decades."

It remains uknown wether or not the exercise had anything to do with the current uprising in the State of Rekovia, or with the attacks against Stasnovan shipping by uknown submarines to the north of Stasnov. However, many see it as a detterent aimed at the nation behind the attacks to Stasnovan merchant shipping, in case the uknown attacker decides to strike Stasnov using surfuce combatants. Others say that it is just a show of force by the Revolutionary Navy, with no direct connection to the recent developements.

Vloom and Bloss Begins Testing Experimental Airship

Today marked the first flight of the newly developed "assault" style airship, in cooperation with the Western Val Confederacy, Vloom and Bloss took a typical Vale airship design and began to design more advanced versions. The first ever joint venture in Adampian military history, the first test flight was a resounding success, the three J-88 jet engines pushed the air ship design to a speed of 498 MPH, the airship was flown at a altitude of 10,000 feet. "This design is far different from the traditional airship as this one lacks a defined balloon since the ballast cells are housed within the carriage allowing for better protection as well as using a aluminum composite armor for the outer shell along with two bulk heads which can seal off a section of the airship", said Charles Bloss, "the test today simulated a fully loaded airship, which this design has three miniguns, one in the nose, two on the side, along with a 60 MM howitzer and two 50 caliber machine guns, could easily turn a battle around." The airship is set to go into production in a few months. Other designs include a aircraft carrier, heavy attack, and recon. Although no further comments were made, the airship flown today is truly a engineering marvel. Not much about the airship program will be said other than the fact that Vloom and Bloss are planning a compound to house and produce airships, including a large hanger to build which will be about 1.5 miles long (8,000 feet), 1,200 feet wide, and 600 feet tall which will be used to build and service airships.

The reason behind the large hangar is to begin testing a prototype cargo airship, which as far as the research goes has shown to be more practical and would shrink the usual time it takes for a merchant to make it to a port. The design also takes away with the pilings used to moor a airship since the design has pressure tanks to control rise and fall of the ship, allowing it to be able to land on any level surface and unload. The airship is in the design phases and shouldn't have a prototype in several years, and a commercial airship in even more time. The cargo airship would have a aluminum shell and a aluminum alloy, estimated top speed for the design would be around 97 MPH, which is roughly double that of any known merchant vessel. Although engineers are working on it having a top speed of 140 MPH.

PRESIDENT ROBERT NIKOLEV RESIGNS ; SNAP ELECTIONS CALLED

In a late night written statement, President Robert Nikolev signed a decree that affirmed the resignation of his post. This comes after months of speculation that Nikolev was mulling to resign given record dissatisfaction with his Presidency, and heavy pressures coming from both the Centrist Opposition and right wing war-hawks backed by the Armed Forces. Nikolev had tried to bridge the gap between nationalists and war-hawks in his party and more moderate center to center-right politicians. With this resignation, it seems that Nikolev at last failed to bridge the gap. According to internal sources, Nikolev was under "immense pressure" to resign from high ranking military officials who disapproved his passive stance in Karateplar, in foreign relations, and not doing enough to rebuke opposition attacks on the right wing. Religious zealots who also opposed Nikolev and represent an ultra-conservative religious faction within the party also opposed Nikolev apparent 'disregard' to strengthening policies to protect the Bratislavian Orthodox Church and its values in the country.

It is well known that the unofficial leader of the military war hawks and religious ultra-conservatives is current PM, Albert Gregorev, who was former Chief of the General Staff of the Bratislavian Armed Forces, has also added pressure to Nikolev's resignation. It is reported that Gregorev is strongly supported by the Armed Forces who want to see a Gregorev Presidency. On the other end of the spectrum, main opposition leader and centrist, Martin Habetov, has raised a political movement to represent all Bratislavians that believe in moderate politics and oppose extremism, behind him a coalition of center-left, centrist, and center-rightist people have lined up ready to support Habetov to be President. Martin Habetov, a dedicated centrist and moderate, has assured that a Bratislav under him will be moderate and pragmatic. He has labelled Gregorev and his allies as out-right fascists that will usher in a black page for Bratislav. He has stated that Nikolev is a sheep in comparison with Gregorev, who will stand at nothing to crush his opponents and bring unquestioned power for himself.

Following Nikolev's statement of resignation, Prime Minister Albert Gregorev has said that given the mechanisms of the Bratislavian Constitution, snap elections will be held. Gregorev has already stated he will be running for President representing the ruling Freedom Party, while Martin Habetov has stated he will without a doubt run against Gregorev, Habetov is the head of the main opposition Free Democratic Party. Analysts view the upcoming elections in Bratislav as a final showdown between the war-hawks/religious ultra-conservatives and the moderate centrists. Analysts worry that the heavy military support for the Freedom Party and Gregorev may put inappropriate pressure on the elections, however, the Armed Forces have stated they will stand behind whomever is democratically elected President. Analysts view the election as a choice between two very different future Bratislavs. The first one being a much more assertive, nationalist, and ultra-conservative state, that will stop at nothing to pursue its interests and will delve into a possible 'authoritarian democracy' in combination with a socially conservative agenda. The second Bratislav would be a more moderate and pacifist Bratislav, while economic policies would still remain strongly fiscally conservative and liberal, the country would be a bit more socially liberal and Bratislav would be less interventionist in the international sphere.

It is reported that Robert Nikolev intends to leave Bratislav for an indefinite period of time. Albert Gregorev stands as interim President, as the country prepares for snap elections.

Commencement of Operation Peacock

The Ministry of Defence this morning confirmed in an official press release the commencement of Operation Peacock over the coming weekend.
The operation will see a huge public relations effort from the Naval Service, the Reserve Guard Force and the Radar Operational Force from Friday the 27 of March to Sunday the 29th of March. There will be a variety of open days at military bases, parades in the majority of cities and major towns as well as military displays of ships and aircraft.

Brigadier David Richardson of the Reserve Guard Force has also said that on the Saturday the RGF will officially form and reveal a new Unit which has been under training for the past year.

Chancellor Lucescu Resigns

Chancellor Mariana Lucescu fights back tears as she announces her resignation.

Rentalla's Chancellor, Mariana Lucescu resigned her position last night. Chancellor Lucescu announced that she has been diagnosed with ovarian cancer, and that she does not wish it to battle it while serving as the nation's head.

Her resignation could not have come at a worse time. Protests being held across the Rentalla are quickly devolving into riots. Police are overwhelmed, and the military is being brought in to many communities to help keep order. The Chancellor acknowledged that it was a bad time, but she reiterated that she "cannot lead Rentalla out of this crisis while fighting for my very life."

Her situation is bad. She stated that she has been diagnosed with stage III Ovarian cancer. According to the Rentallan Department of Health that type of cancer at that stage only has a twenty to fifty percent survival rate.

With her resignation her cabinet will now form a ruling council with Isak Jakobsson serving as executive until new elections can be organized.

Chancellor Lucescu has been the most popular head of state in Rentalla's history, maintaining an approval rating above seventy five percent. She was the first female elected head of state, and first non ethnic Rentallan at the head of the government. She has been known to bring all sides of the legislature together, finding common ground with all parties. Chancellor Lucescu is known as a great eader, and a true patriot. She will be missed greatly.

The first ever elections in Svabodnaja Bielarus have started, marking a big step in Bielarus' path to becoming a Democratic country. Its That Time of the Year Again

Veng Dun - Well everyone you know what time of the year it is. Tornado season is once again upon us. To kick off tornado season The Supreme Chancellor Asher Clark has declared this week tornado preparedness week. Today all schools in the nation took part in a nation wide tornado drill helping prepare students on what to do if a tornado hits. As we all know tornadoes are very common in Qubec. We get about 1,000 tornadoes every year. As a reminder to everyone below we have listed a few tips on how to protect you and your friends and family when a tornado hits.

Prevention and practice before the storm: At home, have a family tornado plan in place, based on the kind of dwelling you live in and the safety tips below. Know where you can take shelter in a matter of seconds, and practice a family tornado drill at least once a year. Have a pre-determined place to meet after a disaster. Flying debris is the greatest danger in tornadoes; so store protective coverings (e.g., mattress, sleeping bags, thick blankets, etc) in or next to your shelter space, ready to use on a few seconds' notice. When a tornado watch is issued, think about the drill and check to make sure all your safety supplies are handy. Turn on local TV, radio or Weather Radio and stay alert for warnings. Forget about the old notion of opening windows to equalize pressure; the tornado will blast open the windows for you! If you shop frequently at certain stores, learn where there are bathrooms, storage rooms or other interior shelter areas away from windows, and the shortest ways to get there. All administrators of schools, shopping centers, nursing homes, hospitals, sports arenas, stadiums, mobile home communities and offices should have a tornado safety plan in place, with easy-to-read signs posted to direct everyone to a safe, close by shelter area. Schools and office building managers should regularly run well-coordinated drills. If you are planning to build a house, consider an underground tornado shelter or an interior "safe room".

Know the signs of a tornado: Weather forecasting science is not perfect and some tornadoes do occur without a tornado warning. There is no substitute for staying alert to the sky. Besides an obviously visible tornado, here are some things to look and listen for:

1) Strong, persistent rotation in the cloud base.
2) Whirling dust or debris on the ground under a cloud base -- tornadoes sometimes have no funnel!
3) Hail or heavy rain followed by either dead calm or a fast, intense wind shift. Many tornadoes are wrapped in heavy precipitation and can't be seen.
4) Day or night - Loud, continuous roar or rumble, which doesn't fade in a few seconds like thunder.
5) Night - Small, bright, blue-green to white flashes at ground level near a thunderstorm (as opposed to silvery lightning up in the clouds). These mean power lines are being snapped by very strong wind, maybe a tornado.
6) Night - Persistent lowering from the cloud base, illuminated or silhouetted by lightning -- especially if it is on the ground or there is a blue-green-white power flash underneath.

In a house with a basement: Avoid windows. Get in the basement and under some kind of sturdy protection (heavy table or work bench), or cover yourself with a mattress or sleeping bag. Know where very heavy objects rest on the floor above (pianos, refrigerators, waterbeds, etc.) and do not go under them. They may fall down through a weakened floor and crush you. Head protection, such as a helmet, can offer some protection also.

In a house with no basement, a dorm, or an apartment: Avoid windows. Go to the lowest floor, small center room (like a bathroom or closet), under a stairwell, or in an interior hallway with no windows. Crouch as low as possible to the floor, facing down; and cover your head with your hands. A bath tub may offer a shell of partial protection. Even in an interior room, you should cover yourself with some sort of thick padding (mattress, blankets, etc.), to protect against falling debris in case the roof and ceiling fail. A helmet can offer some protection against head injury.

In an office building, hospital, nursing home or skyscraper: Go directly to an enclosed, windowless area in the center of the building -- away from glass and on the lowest floor possible. Then, crouch down and cover your head.
Interior stairwells are usually good places to take shelter, and if not crowded, allow you to get to a lower level quickly. Stay off the elevators; you could be trapped in them if the power is lost.

In a mobile home: Get out! Even if your home is tied down, it is not as safe as an underground shelter or permanent, sturdy building. Go to one of those shelters, or to a nearby permanent structure, using your tornado evacuation plan. Most tornadoes can destroy even tied-down mobile homes; and it is best not to play the low odds that yours will make it.

At school: Follow the drill! Go to the interior hall or room in an orderly way as you are told. Crouch low, head down, and protect the back of your head with your arms. Stay away from windows and large open rooms like gyms and auditoriums.

In a car or truck: Vehicles are extremely risky in a tornado. There is no safe option when caught in a tornado in a car, just slightly less-dangerous ones. If the tornado is visible, far away, and the traffic is light, you may be able to drive out of its path by moving at right angles to the tornado. Seek shelter in a sturdy building, or underground if possible. If you are caught by extreme winds or flying debris, park the car as quickly and safely as possible -- out of the traffic lanes. Stay in the car with the seat belt on. Put your head down below the windows; cover your head with your hands and a blanket, coat, or other cushion if possible. If you can safely get noticeably lower than the level of the roadway,leave your car and lie in that area, covering your head with your hands. Avoid seeking shelter under bridges, which can create deadly traffic hazards while offering little protection against flying debris.

In the open outdoors: If possible, seek shelter in a sturdy building. If not, lie flat and face-down on low ground, protecting the back of your head with your arms. Get as far away from trees and cars as you can; they may be blown onto you in a tornado.

In a shopping mall or large store: Do not panic. Watch for others. Move as quickly as possible to an interior bathroom, storage room or other small enclosed area, away from windows.

In a church or theater: Do not panic. If possible, move quickly but orderly to an interior bathroom or hallway, away from windows. Crouch face-down and protect your head with your arms. If there is no time to do that, get under the seats or pews, protecting your head with your arms or hands.

AFTER THE TORNADO...

Keep your family together and wait for emergency personnel to arrive. Carefully render aid to those who are injured. Stay away from power lines and puddles with wires in them; they may still be carrying electricity! Watch your step to avoid broken glass, nails, and other sharp objects. Stay out of any heavily damaged houses or buildings; they could collapse at any time. Do not use matches or lighters, in case of leaking natural gas pipes or fuel tanks nearby. Remain calm and alert, and listen for information and instructions from emergency crews or local officials.

Hunter rallies support for Gregorev

RIVERSIDE – Conservative Representative Jarred Hunter today rallied support for Bratislavian Prime Minister Albert Gregorev's presidential bid, following the sudden resignation of President Robert Nikolev. Gregorev is currently acting president until elections are held. Hunter and Gregorev are both prominent war hawks, leading the interventionist factions within their respective parties.

Hunter, from the traditionally Conservative state of Leasath, urged his supporters to stand behind Gregorev, who he called a "close personal friend" and a "strong backer of conservative policies." He called for donations to Gregorev's campaign, noting that he had personally donated an undisclosed sum to "the man whose election will ensure strong West Aurelian-Bratislavian ties for years to come."

President Stephen Hayes released a statement thanking Nikolev for his role in establishing a mutual cooperation agreement between West Aurelia and Bratislav and wishing him well for the future. Similar to Hunter, he stated that he hopes West Aurelian-Bratislavian ties will remain strong under Nikolev's successor.

While the majority of West Aurelia's parties support the moderate Martin Habetov of the Free Democratic Party, Hunter's own Conservative Party and its minor coalition partner the Christian Democratic Union are torn between him and Gregorev. Hunter's war hawks and CDU evangelical Christian rightists unsurprisingly back Gregorev, while those of a more liberal-conservative social stance prefer Habetov. An assortment of politicians with left-leaning social views, including Libertarians, Liberals, and Social Democrats, have called for a suspension of military relations with Bratislav if Gregorev imposes right-wing social policies.

Rumors of Nikolev's resignation have been circulating since the stalled Curente conflict, when Bratislavian jets launched airstrikes against Cydonian forces in the majority-Bratislavian breakaway region of Karateplar. He has been criticized by those on the right and the left, who either see him as too weak or too heavy-handed. Nikolev was only elected last year, following the completion of the popular David Albanov's two terms.

First Tornado of the Season hits Qubec

Today the first tornado struck Qubec. A tornado with the rating of EF 3 tore through the suburbs of Veng Dun at around 2:30 this afternoon. The tornado created wind speeds of around 136–165 mph. The tornado destroyed over 100 homes and many businesses. The tornado hit a high school as well as the local hospital. School was in session at the time of the tornado but only minor injuries were reported from the school and hospital. Local and federal authorities have shut down all roads in the effected area to emergency traffic only. The Senator of the city ,Donovan Warner, has declared a state of emergency. The Department of Civil Defense has activated its disaster team and has send it to the area. The Supreme Commander has ordered troops to assist in the search and rescue effort. Supreme Chancellor Asher Clark and His Grace King Elijah are currently visiting the disaster zone. The tornado had very little effect on Veng Dun, with no damage or injuries reported in the capital. In total around 68 injuries have been reported but that number is expected to rise. And no deaths have been reported.

It is presumed that Princess Kyra-Mariah Noelle Von Stauffenburg will ascend the throne in place of her mother,when the time comes,and Crown Prince Tiberius Von Stauffenberg will ascend the Throne of Carsodonia,currently held by his father.

Comte announces support for Bratislav's Martin Habetov

Christian Democratic Union rebuts President's address

Merridell, Globus - President Comte addressed the nation in his weekly address today to announce his support to Martin Habetov in the snap elections currently being held in Bratislav, resulting in former President Robert Nikolev’s resignation last week.

In the address, Comte inherently crushed the current Prime Minister Albert Gregorev, who is the main contender against Habetov. Comte calls our Gregorev’s extreme right views, and religiosity. He goes as far as warning that Gregorev will establish a “god-fearing, war-mongering, dictatorship.”

Comte praises the moderate leaning conservative Martin Habetov, stating that Habetov's values are similar to that of Globus’, and that he will model Bratislav after the “Globus model.” Comte calls attention to Habetov’s secularism, pacifism, and conservatism.

Transcript of the weekly address

Shortly following the address, Christian Democratic Union leader Rickey Trevino refuted Comte’s address in a press statement. Trevino defended Albert Gregorev, stating that he “is well capable of democratically leading Bratislav.” Trevino attacked Comte by saying that Comte fears a Christian leader (Comte being a secular humanist himself), and that Comte believes Christians are incapable of leading a democratic country. Trevino also criticized Comte for wasting the time of citizens by addressing unimportant foreign affairs.

The Christian Democratic Union has said they are drafting a letter to send to Albert Gregorev, apologizing for Comte’s anti-Christian slander.

The Secular Party, Green Party, Conservative Party, and Liberal Coalition have all announced their support of Martin Habetov. Along with the Christian Democratic Union, the
Globian Reform Party, and Commonwealth Communist Party have pledged their support to Albert Gregorev.

Owen Gordon, Trustee of Canby and member of the National Democratic Party, stated that Comte and the government should not care to worry about the elections held in other countries, and that the NDP will not pledge support to either candidate because they “simply don’t care about foreign elections.”

Globus - In 1932 the Valaran Imperial Parliament placed the Kingdom of Globus, or as it was more known as "Valaran Southeast Sempit", under question whether should Valaran rule over Globus should be maintained or to grant it independence. When the Lauwens were overthrown and when King Aiegus, the Last King of Valaran Globus, was killed in the Lauwens Estate by his own people anticipated by law enforcement, Hemil Karshtan, the 4th Prime Minister of Emperor Vilfred-Magnus IV, proposed that rule over Globus should be transferred to the Imperial Crown of the Valaran Empire, under the person of the Emperor, translating Valaran direct rule. The rest of parliament was divided on the proposal to replace the vassalage with Valaran administration. In the end the proposal was thrown and a new proposal was made by the Leader of His Valaran Majesty's Opposition Yarl Heinreim Kemsta to end Valaran sovereignty and rule over Globus altogether, granting the country the right of nations to self-determination in other and fitting words.

The Valaran Parliament revoked vassalage over Globus hence giving the country complete independence and sovereignty on May 25 of that year.

The Globian Government managed to provide free education to its people, heavily investing the future of Globus on its new generation rather than depending on their generation and believing that they are the only ones that could make a difference. They provide free school meals and transportation service, transportation although as long as it is possible unlike in most rural areas, from their homes to their schools. The government constructed a comprehensive school system without determining students during their basic education, and similar to Nordic education systems, encompassing special instructional education to reduce the number of students achieving low marks.

The Globian Government also provides day-care for babies and toddlers and kindergarten for children up to the age of six. These however are optional. Children aged seven although are required to attend a nine-year comprehensive basic school until they reach the age of fifteen. Then they will be required to attend post-secondary education where they will either continue on an academic track or a vocational track for three years. Valaran Globus established free primary and secondary education in 1715.

August 15, 1973 the Education Act was passed which established free tertiary education and daycare programs. Tertiary education is optional too and is provided only for free in federal universities. Admittance depends on the secondary school final grade point average and the National Assessment of Scholastic and Theoretical Skills or NASTS, "a national test taken by all students seeking tertiary education." The process of selection is based on merits alone. Universities in Globus prioritize research and theoretical education. Those of applied sciences made the needs of global jobs and employment as a basis and takes part in the country's industrial development projects. Research studies are practical and theories are derived from advanced problem solving.

Teachers in Globus are well respected equally as the profession itself but becoming a teacher in the country is hard and involves competition with others. Globian educators in order to be qualified they must have a master's degree. They also must have very high GPAs and NASTS to compete against others besides facing ferocious opposition from other applicants. Reports in the country state that only averages of 10% of applicants in certain programs were accepted. Additionally, the country's educators earn 15% percent more than the average Globian middle class household income complimenting the quality performance of educators. The national curriculum guideline is supervised by the Globian Department of Education but teachers are granted a great amount of degree in autonomy on instruction methods.

The Department of Education limits the number of students in primary and secondary schools by 20 unlike here in Viridisolum where students in classes are up to more than 40, less than 59 at most based on reports conducted by His Imperial Majesty's Ministry of the Crown for Education, Assets Department III, Statistics Assessment Office but as it is in the Nation, Globian "students are introduced to music, cooking, and health and fitness" similar to Home Economics and Living Education, Music, and Physical Education. Moreover students enjoy the dream of all youth which is less homework in order to give way for extra-curricular activities, a luxury Viridisian students and the rest of Atlas does not enjoy.

Globus today has reaped the fruits of their education system and eventually led them to land on a significant role in the Regional Stage, mostly on science and technology in renewable resources. Their country is powered by such at 18%. The Globian Government plans to reach 30% by the year 2030 and 60% by 2040. This is only a part of their attainments. They have also accomplished in space research and exploration "in the fields of rocketry, radar, fuel usage, and aerodynamics." HIM Ministry of the Crown for the Interior, Extra-terrestrial Department, Space Exploration Division depends on the Globus Aerospace Exploration Agency technologically and logistically. Other accomplishments are evident in their society by their defining values "characterized by a strong work ethic, high value of education, humanitarianism, and the unifying belief of Humanism, democracy, capitalism, and equality" and in their expressions of art through architecture reflecting the cultural and moral persona of Globians. These contribute to Globus in order to be what they are today and to advance in the centuries to come.

Bavaria Joins the "Nuclear Game"

The Nuclear ICBM enters the atmosphere before returning to Earth for an air-detonation

Today, Bavaria's government has officially announced a nuclear test in the West of Bavaria's territory, with a 500 kiloton nuclear ICBM. The missile is intended to be used for defensive purposes and to ensure foreign nations such as Carloso, Luepola, Stasnov, or Roski will not consider invading Bavaria itself with the risk of retaliation. The general specifics of this missile has not been revealed such as far it can travel before landing or the maximum altitude the missile can go. President Vladimir Voloski to go to Carloso and improve relations

President of the Republic of Carsodonia Vladimir Voloski has announced of his trip to New Carloso to meet up and discuss the betterment of both nations and to increase relations with the once high tension rivals. President Voloski also stated that Carsodonia will be going under a lot of changes and that includes the military, he said, "It is time that Carsodonia has regained its military might and get re involved in International politics once more, and hopefully with our new friends of New Carloso and New Hayabusa we can fix our soiled name and bring Honor back to Carsodonia and its people..." He went on to say that New Calroso and Carsodonia might be bringing arms factories into each others nations as a sign of good faith and to increase the economy of both nations...

In other news the Carsodonian armed forces have received new equipment that will increase the fighting capability of each soldier from their new protective gear to new weapon systems. Carsodonia will also be trying to rebuild its destroyed Navy and even possibly be open to buying ships from other nations. The Carsodonian Air Force has also said that they have been working on new fighters for Carsodonian Air Superiority, Carsodonian military officials have also said they have begun scrapping old and outdated tanks and will be using the scrap for other purposes. ELECTION CAMPAIGN IN BRATISLAV INTENSIFIES AS VOTING DAY NEARS

Main Opposition Leader, Martin Habetov

The election campaign in Bratislav has intensified as the current PM, Albert Gregorev, and the main opposition leader, Martin Habetov, vie for the Presidential spot. Hitting back at critics who have called him authoritarian and far-right, Gregorev has said that he plans to govern Bratislav in a purely democratic way in accordance with the constitution. His interests will be the interests of the Bratislavian nation and no one else. He will work to make Bratislav a stronger country that doesn't shy away with protecting its national interests and cultural heritage.

Habetov has hit back saying that he himself is a devout Christian, but believes the fanaticism of Gregorev is unhealthy and that given Bratislav's major role in world affairs, the country must take a more balanced and tempered approach to international events. He has stated that if Greogrev is elected President, Bratislav risks becoming a pariah state that will be more similar to current SACTO countries than the current allies of Bratislav.

The intensity of the campaign spilled into a clash between supporters of both sides in one of the districts of the capital. 25 people were seriously injured and taken to hospital after the incident. It is said that Gregorev supporters had attacked members attending a Habetov rally. The army has assured that stability in the country will be maintained, but blamed the Habetov camp for instigating the incident. Some experts are wary of the overt support that the military has for Gregorev.

The election campaign will intensify as voting is to begin soon. With the recent clashes, it is feared that the election may instigate more instability and violence in the country, especially if Gregorev's camp feels it is losing. Current polling show a dead heat between both candidates within the margin of error.

ZDV: Imperia's Fate

The ZDV: Imperia was the first of her class, and the pride of the Federal Fleet. Built out of Zerinite Steel, and Iron she first went on her maiden voyage in 1985 an example of what Zerinfriom's finest could produce.She is now 3/5ths through her life, and already the top brass are discussing her fate. They fear that either her nuclear reactor would go awry, or that she would be destroyed in any upcoming conflict that Zerinfriom may or may not have to be apart of. Others can be described as cocky, and that she is the most powerful vessel in Atlas, and an object to be feared.

Primer Valentine disagrees with both sides of the matter, and stated in an interview.

"It's not that I don't love the Imperia. In fact it is far from it, nor is it a topic truly worth discussion. She is a fine ship that has served Zerinfriom kindly, and respectfully, and will continue to do so even after I am out of office after my second five year term ends."

Most are focused on the now of the ZDV: Imperia, when we should be focused on the later of her fine carrier. her uses so far have been minor to say the least. In the two wars Zerinfriom has been in since her commissioning, she participated in neither. Even in the Zerinite Intervention of Qubec, her sister ship the Imperious was the one who launched fighters. However with her sister proven in battle, she at best is prepared for any conflict that comes her way.

CHIEF EXECUTIVE JAKOBSSON DISSOLVES GOVERNMENT!
Announces reconstruction of the Rentallan Empire.

Just hours ago Isak Jakobsson, Chief Executive of the Republic of Rentalla announced that the entire legislature, and executive council has been dissolved. He made the announcement from the Imperial palace in Kiraia, the capitol of Rentalla. Several of Rentalla's highest ranking military commanders were with him as he made the announcement.

"The last few weeks have proven that the democracy experiment has failed." He said referencing the widespread protests, and rioting that have plagued the nation since February. "This would have never happened under the old government, and I think it is plain to see that the people are tired of the feeble politicians who are more concerned with their approval numbers than what needs to be done to better our nation."

He then described a frame work for a future government where autocracy meets democracy. "Each province will be able to elect a person to serve on the Imperial Council, and it is from the Imperial Council that the Emperor will be chosen. The Emperor will wield absolute executive power, but will be accountable to the Council, and therefore the people."

He also said that the provinces will be semi autonomous, and have the ability to create their own governments, and will be largely free from the interference of the Imperial government. Many Rentallans were quick to criticize the Chief Executive, claiming he was seizing power. He has not responded to these accusations, but some within the executive council claim that if he was truly seizing power he would have declared himself emperor.

Not everyone has been negative about the move though. Many are hopeful. The promise of more provincial power, and freedom is particularly promising to many Rentallans.

Chief Executive Jakobsson has asked that the provinces quickly begin the process of choosing their counselors, so that a new Emperor may be chosen soon.

Origin Corporation Makes Final Push Into "Big Three" Corporations

The United Remnants of America is no stranger to major corporate entities. Wildfire Industries has graced the URA with its heavy industry, automotive, and its construction sectors, not to mention its hold on the military-industrial complex of the Remnant Military. Asys Tech has a stranglehold on the technology, software, and information systems sectors. And of course, all Remnants would know of the now-defunct Remnant Arms Trade Systems, the privat emilitary company sponsored by the government before being shut down and causing a contingent the RATS Rangers of operators to go rogue.

Now, a new corporation has risen, ready to take on the missing links of the two existing mega-corporations, thus forming the "Big Three" of the URA. This business is the Origin Corporation. Over the past six months, the Origin Corporation has slowly been obtaining deeds to all of the URA's airfields, mag-lev train stations, and nuclear power stations. The Origin Corporation can also boast the completion of the first "floating city," Terminus. Within the past month, the Origin Corporation has finally crossed the specified threshold of networth at which point the state government has used its powers to obtain fifty-one percent stock of the company, making Origin a state-controlled, publicly-traded entity. This means that there are now three mega-corporations that are state-controlled in the URA, and it seems that Origin's niche will be in the transit, utility, and entertainment sectors. There only remains one question: Is this a new era in the advancements of the URA under a state-capitalist doctrine, or does this add another piece of evidence to the growing oligarchy that is the Remnant government?

Today's Headline: Elesar's Uranium Enrichment Program steps up production.

In the capital today, Duma President Andrei Shilyupov gave the floor over to Doctor Valentin Kuznetsov, Head of Nuclear Development at the Tsar Pyotr II Research Facilities. Dr. Kuznetsov, a native of the capital, began his televised speech by greeting friends, family, and coworkers currently residing both within the capital itself and at the Research Facilities. After these initial formalities, the Doctor began to explain the importance of nuclear development in the modern world, citing Bavaria's recent nuclear test as a prime example of why the advancement of nuclear technologies in Elesar must continue.

While Elesar does not currently have access to nuclear armament, the final goal of the nation's nuclear program is to produce a warhead before the year's end.

Doctor Kuznetsov ended his speech by thanking all of those that "have and will become involved [in the nuclear program]" and wishing best of health to our Tsar, the Imperial Family, and the entirety of the State Duma.
