How many of us still know when that was first posted?

Back on our really old forums before Jolt, once I was made forum admin, I started a weekly raffle for a one of a kind forum rank. (Not a custom one, just one of a kind.) If someone wanted that rank, they would let me know they wanted to be in the contest; and at the end of each week I put all the names into a random selector script and that would randomly choose that week's winner.

For the most part the contest ranks were along NS-like lines aside from the occasional webcomics-inspired rogue like the Shirt Ninja or Cardboard Tube Samurai among the Psychotic Dictator, Faithful Atheist, Overclocked Technocrat, and so on.

I really wanted to win the puppet master one...and it went to someone who didn't have any puppets. It did have a sort of irony there.

Question: Are these the rankingnames of the old forum? If not, do we want those back?

No, but I like these better. Although the ability to create a custom title would be nice.

They are in fact based on the really old pre-Jolt post rankings, but some new additions and tweaks spacing as to when you get them =p

I'm probably one of the few users who's gonna say.... thank you for that.

I've never cared about my post count personally. I think its about 1500 on jolt or so. About all I know.

Well surely there are rules regarding how many times one can be disciplined for spamming before they are removed? I mean I think you would be able to stop a serial spammer reaching 10k posts... Atleast I would hope so.

One idea I came up with was that instead of a raffle we'd hold weekly creativity challenges (MSPaint your national animal, 150-word essay on why you like NationStates, etc.). We never quite agreed on how to judge them without incurring some kind of wrangle over bias or whatever though... a random selection of posters in the thread to act as a judge panel might work. I'm open to suggestions.

Just make an issue out of it.. ;)

Your nation's popular TV-show "Who wants to get a custom title" has reached its season's final, and a tele-vote will decide who will win:

[option] "The first candidate is @@CANDIDATE1@@," says show host @@RANDOMNAME@@, "and I'ld bet my money on them. A smart choice."

[option] "We want @@CANDIDATE2@@! We want @@CANDIDATE2@@!" yells a crowd of screaming teenage girls enthusiastic.

[option] "Pssst, hey you, you like @@CANDIDATE3@@?" says a guy with dark sunglasses, in a raincoat, hidden behind a big newspaper, from behind a corner. "If you have the dough, I can make swing the vote in their favour."

[option] "Why do we need tele-votes anyway" says General @@RANDOMNAME@@, who also happens to be your brother. We know what's best, and that's @@CANDIDATE4@@

[option] "Think of the children" says religious wacko @@RANDOMNAME@@. The only moral choice is to support @@CANDIDATE5@@

:p
