Leadership Profiles

What a career that Adama Sowe has had. He has spent time in the upper echelons of society almost his entire athlete. The former collegiate and amateur soccer player, his father had been a member of the Banijan Navy, and his mother had been a RTC engineer. Of course, he did not make his name in either the military or the RTC, at first. He made his name in soccer. He was a star soccer player when the game was mostly still a regional game in Banija, being a former player for Herzegovina City in the days before the establishment of the Banijan Soccer League.

He quickly got his way into sports administration. After completing university in his mid-30s, at the University of Loyola-Istria, he really began to get involved in sports management. He joined the Athletic Department at the school, slowly working his way up. He left the Loyola-Istria Athletic Department after 10 years, going to Busukuma to run the day-to-day operations of the BCSG. He ran day-to-day operations of the BCSG for 2 years, as Chief Operating Officer, before he took over a RBSA that was in dire straits.

They were coming off of bankruptcy- a bankruptcy that did not allow them to compete in WCC competition during the World Cup 78 cycle. Adama Sowe had a big vision, and fortunately for him, his ambitious vision was realized. He went out, hired the coach he wanted(Randolf Cherry of Drawkland), and then success started rolling in off the field. Banija rose from bankrupt laughing stocks to a nation that actually hosted the World Cup Finals.

After bringing the Baptism of Fire, the World Cup, and an AOCAF to Banijan soil, in that order, he decided to retire as Chairman of the RBSA, and then shortly afterwards retire from his position on the Executive World Cup Committee. He was going to enjoy retirement, but then a few RTC shareholders came calling- would he want to get onto the Board of Directors? Easily the biggest name in this corporate campaign, he was easily elected by shareholders as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Regional Transit Corporation. Finally, the big bucks.

Maria Kambi is the highest ever ranking woman in the male dominated world of the Regional Transit Corporation. She's not a lifer in this position- in fact, like many on the board of directors of Banija's most powerful corporation, she has wide business contacts across the country in multiple industries.

After getting her master's degree from Northern Moravica, she quickly joined RTC Moravica, and started to climb her way up the ranks. Of course, the RTC already holds an incredibly dominant position in Banija, near monopoly status, so her work was to ensure that relations with Unions and such were strong. It wasn't long before she wanted more in her career, however, so after just a couple of years, she decided to leave RTC Moravica and run for the Herzegovina City Council. She won in this center-right city as an independent, and served two full terms on the City Council. She then wanted to continue to rise up the ranks- and so she ran, successfully, for the Moravica Regional Legislature.

She spent 12 years in the regional legislature, developing her own political skills. It would be then where she would be noticed by the big dogs down in Busukuma. Looking to bring in more experienced people to potentially be diplomats, she joined the Banijan Foreign Service. She spent a year working in Busukuma, before she got her first Ambassadorial assignment- being assigned as Ambassador to the Hebrew Republic of SIlver Beach, a brand new country in Sonnel.

She served well in that role for a few years, before she decided to get back into the much more lucrative world of international business. She got back to the RTC, and was appointed as the head of RTC Silver Beach, the new division of the country that would operate in the Hebrew Republic. SHe was there for a few years, before she was appointed as the head of RTC North Island, headquartered in Dukuma. Of course, the RTC did not have the greatest reputation on the Islands, but she did a good enough job keeping out competitors that it allowed her to work her way to the international headquarters, in Rosaria. She is now the Executive Vice President of International Expansion, looking at more innovative ways to get the RTC into more international markets.

Basic Information about our products/services.

The Regional Transit Corporation offers, as part of its services, bus systems. Now, there are two types of bus systems that we offer. A school bus system, and a city bus system.

A city bus system would be public transportation on busses. The geographical area would have to be provided, and the RTC would work with local governments to make sure that the area is not too big, while at the same time, all necessary routes can be covered in a timely manner. We would like to have a city bus system operate across at least parts of a metropolitan area, with a major city as the focal point of its operation. We would be willing to do singular cities that have a population of at least 1 million people. We are not willing to do suburban only city bussing systems, as those would not be a profitable endeavor for the Regional Transit Corporation.

The RTC strives to build busses that are environmentally friendly. In regions where the infrastructure is possible, we would be more than willing to operate hybrid & electric busses to help the environment. Where it is not possible, the Regional Transit Corporation would work to develop that infrastructure, and then build fuel-efficient busses to limit the carbon footprint of a public transportation system. It is recommended, though definitely not required, that busy urban centers offer bus-only lanes during peak hours on their roads to improve the speed and reliability of the public transportation system, and to help car traffic move along as well.

We also operate school bus systems. We will simply take care of all the bussing needs for a school district. Not only will we go daily, but we will take care of transportation for events like sports game and field trips. This can be done via renewable, long-term contracts between the RTC and a local school district. We ask that school start times be staggered(elementary schools start and end later than high schools) so that any system can be operated at maximum efficiency for the benefit of the local school district. We have university campus bussing systems as well. Both of these we require to be paid in a contract with the school district/University, as it is policy that we do not charge students directly to ride the bus to class.

The Regional Transit Corporation is available to operate subway systems in nations. We limit subway systems to operate within cities that have a population of over 1 million people. Therefore, we will not have subway systems that spread into suburbs, and we require to control the city bus system along with any potential subway system.

The Regional Transit Corporation operates subway systems 21 hours a day, 7 days a week, only being closed between 2 AM and 5 AM on a daily basis. We are against the idea of a 24 hour subway system to allow our employees to rest, and make sure they are better equipped to provide top notch services to residents when we are open. We will work with local leaders to establish the best possible subway stops, and then make sure that our subway runs on time, every time, without exception.

The Regional Transit Corporation is willing to operate light rail systems in nations. We are also willing to use light rail as the preferred method of rapid transportation between city airports and Downtown areas. Light rail systems are not good as mass public transit, but they are best as a fast transit operation in a very small area. Therefore, we are willing to operate light rail systems in Downtown and surrounding areas, or even on college campuses. If a college wants a campus specific light rail system, the same rules apply as for a campus bus system, where it shall be paid for by the University, as we do not charge students directly to get to class.

Operation of already existing Public Transit Systems

Does your Metropolitan region already have a Public Transit system, but is it too expensive to run? Is it too disconnected with the major city and its suburbs on different pages? The Regional Transportation Corporation is willing to enter into contracts with cities and regions to take over the infrastructure of an already existing Public Transit system. Any system, if chosen to be sold to the RTC, will be a complete takeover. Aka if there is a bus system and a subway system already existing, one cannot sell us the subway system without the bus system. It has to be all or nothing, and is the non-competition clause.

Why does it have to be all-or-nothing?

Public Transit systems work the best when every part of the system is being run by the same entity. When a subway system and a bus system are competing for customers, everybody loses. When a light rail system and a bus system are competing for tourists, everybody loses. We have the firm belief that Public Transit works best when it is ran by a corporation that is looking to provide service to everybody, and yet, understands the financial side of things, understands that a profit must be turned.

But wait- how are the people of my region supposed to have a say in the Public Transit system if its privately run?

We have charged the Executive Vice President for International Expansion with the task of making sure that the RTC maintains good relations in any area that it goes into. That is why for each region we will have a 7 member board. We will have, as applicable, 4 members appointed by the RTC including the Chairperson. The last 3 members will be divided up by local governmental authorities, to how they best see how to appoint leaders who represent both urban and suburban areas of a particular metropolitan region. However, to avoid injecting politics into it, these members must be appointed by elected officials, rather than be elected.

Brand New Public Transportation System

How does the RTC go about building a public transit system from scratch?

The RTC is very willing to build a public transit from scratch if one does not exist for any specified city or metropolitan area. Of course, this is a very expensive endeavor, and if we are to do this, we would seek funding help from the party requesting a public transit system if we are to build a subway system or a light rail from scratch. We believe that investment is worth it to build a subway system, however, there are no "upfront" charges to institute a bussing system. Any system built from scratch will be built with highest possible amount of local input, to ensure efficiency and ensure that our system can provide the best possible service to any region that it operates in.

To whom it may concern at the RTC,

Every 5 years there is a tender put out for the operation of the public transport system in our city, District 3, Asterix. Last cycle the winner of the bid was state owned Metro Asterix. This year we are inviting you to put out a quote for operating the Subway and Bus routes. Below we have filled out the requested application for information you have provided.

It is also possible to recieve tax breaks by partnering with a local company. Please ask us about this.

Regards,

Robert Batista,

Secretary of The Committee For The Privatization Of State Owned Public Services.

Robert Batista,

Dear Secretary Batista,

Everything seems in order with this application, and we will provide a quote.

Due to population size, we will put out a $3.5 billion NSD annual contract for the next 5 years to be transferred from District 3 to the Regional Transit Corporation. That number came from the size of the population and due to the fact that much of the infrastructure already exists. If the contract is awarded, we will be applying for bus only lanes during peak hours with Secretary Won, and we will be more than willing to work with the Union of Metro Workers, as our current contracts mandate us to work with local organized labor whenever possible. The relatively low tax rate works in your favor, and we believe our bid is the most affordable that District 3 will find. The advantages of changing to RTC, and the benefits that added expertise and competition will bring to public transportation in Asterix City and your nation as a whole are very numerous, and I encourage your nation to accept this offer.

Dear Mike Daigle,

We are very interested in starting operations in Isen City. Due to population, potential tax rates, potential healthcare costs, and the relatively high services tax(and the interest to keep prices low) we will offer a contract that transfers $780 million NSDs to the RTC from Isen City for the next 8 years, that is a renewable contract. We are excited that the infrastructure is already there, and we hope that Isen City is an area of potential growth. We are very willing to provide transportation between the 3 airports and the tourist areas of the city. We are more than wiling to establish rail service routes in and out of the city so that Isen City can be better connected to the rest of the country, and so it is as easy as possible for Isen Island citizens to travel around the nation.

Dear Mr Zelenika
We are willing to sign whatever contract it will take to ease the congestion on the streets. Just today there was a major 50 car pile up on one of our Intercity Freeways, that travels right through the heart of downtown. Personally I feel this could have been prevented if there were more public transportation options. Many people commuting into Isen City from other surrounding areas are generally screaming down our freeways and streets to make it to work on time. I'm not saying by allowing you to come in and begin service would have prevented this accident but atleast lowered the number of casualties to persay a more comfortable number. These types of accidents are becoming more and more frequent every year, as more people take to the roads to come into the city. The city itself is booming with economic growth and if things like this keep happening this growth could be stunted for many years to come. Though the current infrastructure in place is for your use, we always feel that maybe we could improve. That maybe we could put steps in place to further prevent incidents similar to this from ever happening again, or atleast on this scale. We are asking you, that if you feel that we have areas that we could improve on to not only make transit service quicker and safer for you, but other motorists as well then please let us know and we will act quickly to correct whatever problem has arisen. As a acting branch of the government, the department of transportation knows we have infrastructure that may be slightly outdated. We will not be bothered in anyway to work with you to make the improvements necessary to make the Isen City Public Transportation Infrastructure amongst the best in the world. Also we will be evaluating your every move to see if we are wanting to renew your contract in 8 years. We have high hopes for your company sir! If there is anything you need feel free to ask.

Sincerely
Mike Daigle, Head of the Isen Island Department of Transportation

OOC: Sorry for the late reply, My Internet has been cut for the last little while.

Dear Domagoj Zelenika,

Thank you for responding to our request. Your pricing and experience seem very satisfactory and so we would, without further a due, like to accept your proposal. The amount of NSD$17.5 Billion will be paid from the Ministry of State Debt over the course of 5 annual payments.

As for bus lanes, it has been agreed that some lanes on the major roads could be open 24 hours a day on less major roads during rush hours except when directed by Gendarme (this should be rare). The Union of Metro Workers would like to set up a meeting as soon as possible and arrange for their contracts.

I have also attached your licence to operate, I hope everything is fine and RTC has a long and prosperous career in the city and nation.

Signed,

Robert Batista,

To: Dan Fén

The Regional Transportation Corporation would be very excited to work with the Lakeside Transportation Authority. After reviewing your information and researching your city we would like to tender a contract with the Lakeside Transportation Authority, which would be co-signed by all the other relevant local government authorities, if necessary according to local law. Basic health care benefits will be provided by the RTC to our employees, and we will have a mixture of hybrid & all-electric busses for a city of this size. Due to this, as well as the fairly steep Environmental Emissions Tax, which we hope will be lowered in a few years time from the national Green Star Program, we would like to tender a 7 year contract, with direct transfers from the Lakeside Transportation Authority of $750 million NSDs per year to the Regional Transportation Corporation, for a total value of $5.25 billion NSDs over the course of 7 years. As the project point person, we will be giving you the authority to appoint the 3 local members of the 7 member board for the RTC in Lakeside.

Also, as a side note, all employees will be members of the international division of the Transportation Workers Union, as according to our Collective Bargaining Agreement with them.

To: Joan Dûœs

The Regional Transportation Corporation would be excited to launch University operations at the National University. This will help us get our feet wet. After research of your university, its stability, and projected growth, we are excited to say that we want a long-term relationship with this campus. Employees, of course, will be members of the Transportation Workers Union and, of course, students cannot be prioritized to be employees due to the expertise necessary to actually operate a light rail system.

This is possible, but unfortunately, a light rail system is significantly more expensive to build and operate as opposed to a busing system, so the initial cost may seem expensive, but considering our restraints, our offer is cost-friendly. Assuming that students pay to ride, we are willing to make you a 7 year contract offer along these terms.

Year 1: $65 million a year transferred to the RTC from the National University @ TC
Years 2-3: $45 million a year transferred to the RTC from the National University @ TC
Years 4-7: $30 million a year transferred from the RTC to the National University @ TC

It is a regressive contract structure, one that reflects the costs of starting up a light rail system, and the costs of training to operate a light rail system where none previously was established. The costs will be significantly higher early on, which is why the contract reflects that. Now, if students ride for free, we have a revised contract offer.

Year 1: $65 million a year transferred to the RTC from the National University @ TC
Years 2-3: $50 million a year transferred to the RTC from the National University @ TC
Years 4-7: $35 million a year transferred from the RTC to the National University @ TC

The extra $5 million per year in the last 6 years of the contract reflect our estimated revenue from student ridership. That, of course, will be a fixed number, regardless of how many students use ridership. And, of course, operations will commence in year 2, as it will take approximately a year to build a high-quality light rail system on a college campus.

We look forward to hearing back from you.

Domagoj Zelenika

General Manager Darwin,

The Reigonal Transit Corporation accepts the application of the City of Wellington, and we will be glad to build and operate a public transit system within Wellington.

Our contract will be valued at an annual payment of $5 million NSDs per year from the City of Wellington to the Regional Transit Corporation for us to operate a public transit system in your country. This assumes that we will operate on normal roads, but busier streets will have certain lanes become bus only lanes during rush hour, in order to maximize the number of busses on the roads when traffic is busiest. This also assumes that we will operate a transit system that includes a one-way route from Wellington to the Airport.

The first year of the contract, we will hope for an $8 million NSD payment, rather than $5 million, to help cover the cost of the original construction of a streetcar system within Downtown Wellington. And, of course, all local employees will be made full voting members of the International Division of the Transport Workers Union.

We hope this deal is acceptable.

Chairman Ejo,

The Reigonal Transit Corporation accepts the application of the City of Kanjin and the greater metropolitan area, and we look forward to establishing operations in North Quandana.

Our contract will be valued at an annual payment of $25 million NSDs per year from the City of Kanjin to the Regional Transit Corporation for us to operate a public transit system in your country. This assumes that we will operate on normal roads, but busier streets will have certain lanes become bus only lanes during rush hour, in order to maximize the number of busses on the roads when traffic is busiest. We are looking forward to what is a fantastic opportunity, as in a metro area with over 11 million people, the potential for success is sky high- and we look forward to being able to meet the high bar you are setting for us.

And, of course, all local employees will be made full voting members of the International Division of the Transport Workers Union.

We hope this deal is acceptable.

Archbishop Locke,

The Reigonal Transit Corporation accepts the application of the Litchfield School District. WE look forward to establishing a working school district bussing system in your city.

Our contract will be valued at an annual payment of $4 million NSDs per year from the Litchfield Metropolitan Christian School District to the Regional Transit Corporation for us to operate a bussing system in your school district. As is guaranteed by our system, the $4 million is the only cost- it is a profitable rate for us, and we maintain that, for school districts, riding the bus will be free at access for individual students. We do not want to keep individual students off the busses due to individual financial circumstances, and so can guarantee every one of your 52,000+ students will be able to ride the bus to school, if they so choose.

Rəşad Huseynov,

The Reigonal Transit Corporation accepts the application of the Aşgabat Regional Transportation District for us to use public transporation in your country. WE look forward to establishing a working school district bussing system in your city.

For a region of that size, the ability for us to operate that transportation system is absolutely unprecedented. Over 87 million people in that metropolitan area- that is a big challenge and a large task, but one that we are capable of fulfilling. Of course, with that system, we are going to offer a contract of $120 million NSDs per year, payable annually from the relevant authority to the RTC. Of course, the cost is higher, but we expect the rest to be covered by fees, and we are taking note of the very generous foreign corporate tax rate of less than 1%. That is less than $2 NSDs per person, and, of course, we will ensure that your systems run efficiently, on time, and able to fulfill the massive capacity required for a system to be strong in a region this size.
We take note of local laws about union membership. We generally operate under a Collective Bargaining structure, however, we will work with local governmental authorities to ensure that even non-union employees are offered a fair compensation package.

We hope this deal is acceptable.
