The 2100 Nation RP: Dusk

The collapse of Russia, the Labor Shortage, Climate Change. These are the great events that shaped the Blakanization in the first half of the 21st Century. With the end of the Little Cold War in 2023, the Eurasian Union, and ultimately Russia (the Union State) ceased to exist, fragmenting across ancient cultures long since forgotten by the world until that point. The Tartars, the Don Cossacks, and the Yakuts all found themselves independent for the first time in centuries, while the Finns retook their long lost Karelian territories, while the Visegrad Gruop poached numerous territories from Western Russia. Any semblance of order has taken a decade to emerge, made no easier by an endless effort to secure former Russian nuclear arms from upstart powers like the Samara Republic.

While Russia fragmented, China's economic troubles over the last ten years finally came to fruition in the Market Crash of 2027. While China had officially been in a state of recession for more than nine years, the Crash of 2027 made deep demographic problems in the Chinese, and ultimately the world economy apparent. With the loss of the south Greenland Ice Sheet in 2025, and the subsequent rise in global sea levels by 7 meters, China found themselves facing open revolt in much of the country, a revolt that cost them the territories on their western peripheries and made their northern border porous to foreign influence. To prevent the collapse of the world's third largest economy, the US, intervened directly, pumping over a trillion dollars into the Chinese economy and deploying US Naval detachments to provide relief to refugee flooded cities like Hangzhou. China's collapse also spelled the end for a number of Cold War era institutions like the World Bank, which was never able to secure any significant capital from cash strapped European powers, who were dealing with their own refugee crisis in the low countries. This is often seen as the direct precursor for the eventual dissolution of the United Nations, as American interests in China conflicted with those of Japan, a country desperate for labor to supplement its demographic crisis of an aging population and a xenophobic culture.

As the developing world's coastal cities drowned, across the globe, only the wealthiest cities managed to save themselves from falling beneath the waves by hastily constructed sea walls. Tokyo, Washington DC, New York, and London all found themselves fighting to survive against the seven meter rise in global sea levels. CO2 production had finally stymied by the 2030s with the Electric Vehicle revolution, but the demand for energy put ever greater strain on the global economy, even with Helium-3 shipments from Luna and new improvements in Solar energy. All of this was ultimately secondary in the global zeitgeist when compared to the Population Crisis that drove the Recession of 2027. The election of 2028 saw a new administration that made several attempts to save the global economy with economic theories left over from the Reagan and Obama administrations, but to no success. This led to the election of Dylan James Price to the Presidency. President Price pushed for an aggressive immigration incentive program to attract skilled immigrants to the US to close the labor gap met by an aging population and increased global demand for high tech goods and services. This is where a silver lining to the rising tide became apparent; as more urban centers found themselves underwater, the displaced populations could fill the labor shortage in the developed world, taking advantage of the new immigration incentives, none more aggressive than those of the United States and Canada (though with the first people's more aggressive calls for independence, Canada was still far behind the US in incentives). Millions of Burmese, Thai, Vietnamese, Nigerian, Chinese, Indian, and Bengali immigrants flooded into North America as their home countries drowned, driving the United States population to 400 million citizens.

While the United States took an incentive approach to solving its demographic problem, the Turks and Japanese took a more direct approach. With the fall of Russia, and China in such a weakened state, the Japanese and Turks took more aggressive military action to secure their regional interests, and export industry to surrounding territories to supplement their population problems. Turkey was aided by ancient ethnic ties to neighboring states and a grateful US, who supported their effort to stabilize the Middle East, while Japan exploited the power vacuum in Eastern Pacific Rim to secure national interests. It was in these years that the seeds for a new global conflict were sewn.

Climate Change started the Third World War. Perhaps that's a gross oversimplification, but its the popular consensus of those who lived through that age. The world had just gotten used to the new coastlines with the loss of the South Greenland Ice Sheet, but in 2039 to 2041 the already tense geopolitical conditions were through into overdrive with the loss of Antarctica's coast-lying ice sheets, driving sea levels up to just under 30 meters above Pre-Anthropocene levels. All but a handful of the Earth's greatest cities were lost beneath the waves, and only the hearts of once great megalopolises survived. Billions of people were displaced, driving border protection policies by some countries while others aggressively tried to take advantage of potential additions to the workforce. Some of these people desperately tried to flee for the new off-Earth colonies, but Mars quickly reached pre-terraforming capacity, while the outer planets could barely handle a few million more citizens. Most were left on Earth to flee where they could. The most dramatic instances of this second wave of refugees/immigration to the developed world were seen in the low-lying countries that had already contributed substantially to the immigration boom in coastal Russia and North America. The newcomer was the former United Kingdom; with the storm of 2043, London and many major British cities were left underwater, with little hope of reversing the damage. With Australia's drought leaving the land virtually uninhabitable, and few other options available to them, a great British migration to the Americas occurred in late 2043 thorough much of the decade. With the Atlantic seaboard flooded, most settled in the American heartland like many refugees had for the the last decade. Those that did not settle in the United States made it to Newfoundland, and the newly independent first nations in the Arctic Circle to capitalize on the demand for skilled labor in the petroleum industry. Newfoundland went so far as to achieve independence from Canada proper in 2048, taking advantage of geographic isolation via Quebec. What remained of the United Kingdom quickly fractured. Scotland formalized its independence in 2044, Ireland reunified after the British military pulled out of Ulster to secure the British mainland, but to secure Britain itself the United States positioned 10,000 military and humanitarian operators in the former UK. By 2045 the British Parliament dissolved the monarchy to take direct control of its remaining lands to secure population interests, and the Republic of Britain became little more than an American protectorate. On the mainland Germany and France found themselves in a similar position with the Dutch and Belgians who had lost the majority of their nations to the Sea, and formally annexed these territories in 2049.

In the Pacific, facing a demographic disaster from an aging population and the loss of Tokyo to the Sea despite an immense government effort to construct a robust sea wall network, Japan began more aggressive campaigns into Pacific Russia, China and South East Asia to secure territory for its displaced population, which flooded by the millions into the Pacific Russian territories and Manchuria. Securing their economic and social claims meant a Naval buildup that conflicted directly with US naval interests, and despite formally cordial relations, the Japanese invested heavily into the construction of satellite tracking and ship destroying missile bases in the South Pacific. By middle of the 2040s Japan stood as America's chief rival in Earth Orbit and on the Moon, stationing civilian and military facilities at in Earth Orbit the Lagrange points and on the far side of the moon (though in this area they American presence will still dwarf that of Japan.) Turkey, facing much less loss of territory to the Sea, but rather a need for arable land from a dryer equator formalized its presence in the Caucasus with annexation, and a more aggressive presence in Southern Russia and the Ukraine to secure the Don and Volga grain belt. War along the Turkish axis defined the late 30s and much of the 40s as Turkey faced resistance groups to its power and conventional conflicts to secure its interests, culminating in the the Friday Revolution in Egypt, where Turkey deployed peacekeepers to secure regional interests following the flooding of Cairo, and effectively took control of the Suez Straight. With a position in Egypt, Turkey pushed its sphere west into North Africa, becoming the decisive power in Western Eurasia. Israel, already on friendly terms with the Turks and seeking an accommodation with the growing power, and Turkey not wanting to enter into a conflict with the small, but powerful enclave, entered into a mutual non-aggression pact in 2040. Control of the Suez Straight meant control over Arabia, despite endless conflict with Arab insurgents, and presented itself as a major threat to Iranian interests. As the dominant power over the oil and Natural Gas of Southern Russia to the Arabian Peninsula, Turkey found itself as a natural Ally of the Japanese, and established a formal Alliance in 2043, the Eurasian Trade and Security Coalition. While Formal alliances of this type were unusual in this age, the necessity of the global climate and refugee crisis drove these two powers to formalize their interests to secure mutual interests against the rising tide and against American interests. This event forced the United States to realize the new reality in Eurasia, as Turkey and Japan posed a credible risk to uniting the continent under a single power (though not a single state). With an economic depression in the Arab region, Turkey positioned itself as a neo-Islamist power, gathering support from pan-Turkics and Islamic fundamentalists. Facing mutual threats on two fronts, the United States increased support to India and China dramatically, going so far as to support Chinese nationalists over American and Taiwanese puppet regimes in Southern China for the sake of regional cohesion. By 2045, Poland, supported in the US effort to counter the Turks, brought Slovenia and Croatia into the Visegrad Group, despite a limited Turkish Presence in Former Bosnia. The Eurozone watched this developing crisis intensely, playing a game of wait and see, but finding itself on increasingly more amicable terms with the Turks, not wanting to see a United power on their Eastern Border again, and Germany once again made into a battlefield. At this juncture Germany began to a quiet effort to aid the Turks in every way short of war with Poland, by imposing greater influence on Danish and Croatian business interests to prevent Polish access to the Atlantic and therefore the United States.

The destruction of the American Orbital Defense Network, and its air and naval fleets only prolonged the time until the Coalition defeat by the Alliance system of the United States. With an American decalartion of war, rather than the expected negotiations, Japan committed itself to an invasion of American assets on the Moon, believing that while they may not be able to win the war, they could at least secure their positions in Space. Japan easily captured the cities of Aldrin and Armstrong, securing the largest Helium-3 supplies outside of Triton, and pushed south to Tycho. Meanwhile American armored and robotic infantry units fought to secure Pacific territory from the Japanese, who had gone so far as to deploy troops to defend their assets in British Columbia and the Yukon, prompting an American invasion North into Canada. The United States bought crucial time for its Alliance in a daring strike on Japanese and Turkish facilities on Earth with the limited air forces, while the newly commissioned Space Force deployed Marines to defend Tycho along side American personnel stationed in Lunar military bases. Eventually the space forces retook Armstrong and Aldrin, and expelled Japan from the moon after the capture of Horikoshi Base. Even with Germany and France's entrance into the war, and the invasion of Poland led by the Turks, defeat was ultimately assured after the deployment of OCS Retribution, a canceled Orbital Command Station that had been steadily upgraded in the Tycho shipyards over the last decade, and the deployment of next generation hypersonic drones by 2054. Germany and France separately sued for peace after US reinforcements arrived in Poland, and by 2055 Japan and Turkey, beaten back to their original claims, surrendered at the Geneva Peace Conference.

After four years of fighting, World War III ended not with a mushroom cloud, or with an occupation of the enemy capitals, but for the sake of sanity, a ceasefire. The United States agreed to honor Japan's interests in Chita and Kamchatka, while Japan agreed to remove all forces from the rest of mainland Eurasia. Turkey accepted a Chinese presence in Central Asia, but was aloud to keep its Empire. Poland, having suffered the most during the war, screamed for Turkish blood, and demanded territory concessions from Germany. The United States vetoed these calls, but did impose limitations on the size and type of Turkish and Japanese near-space weapon systems, and a ban on all military space activities by every nation, save for itself of course. This drove what is now known as the Amero-Polish Schism, as even Poland was forbidden from developing space based weapon systems. The war established several new paradigms, the shift of European power to the East, American dominance over Space and Sea, and the shift from total war to war fought by precision and armored infantrymen. Many new states were carved out of the peripheries of the coalition to provide buffer zones, and keep Eurasia in chaos, and power in balance.

The United States gained more than just a formal recognition of its claims to space (though these territories would not be given any kind of representation in Congress), it also found itself directly occupying British Columbia (Cascadia) and the Yukon after the Japanese surrender, as well as direct control over the Guyanas after the French sued for Peace. With Britain in shambles still, American and former British forces organized a hasty alliance in the former Eurozone to prevent Polish expansion westward, but the degree of integration of Britain into the American system became so entrenched that the British found themselves in a Free Association with the United States, along with Newfoundland and even Australia by the end of the year. The ecological disaster from the flood effected many other territories far worse, but Britain was one of the few that was loosing its culture. With more than 70% of its population now living in either Newfoundland or the United States, many are unsure of what the future holds.

The year is 2094, History repeats itself... until the underlying problem is resolved. For the United States and Mexico, the problem has been a lack of natural land borders allowing for a large, and until very recently, undefended borderland. Following the closing of the border and the mass deportations of the 2080s, Mexico saw their northern borderland flooded with displaced expatriates who were too poor and uneducated to qualify for Mars colonial status. Mexico's economy suffered greatly and began positioning troops on the border to aid with the resettlement of their citizens. The US, already using the National Guard to patrol the South West and relocate people to Mexico, took this as an escalating threat and in turn, increased surveillance and drone flights over Mexico. In 2088, the Mexicanos Libres party was established in the US on behalf of the citizens of the South West who were fortunate enough to avoid deportation, and advocated for the rights of Mexican immigrants who had been living in the US for generations. Everyone was convinced war would break out on the US-Mexican border, which is why what happened next was such a shock, and is largely blamed for perpetuating the underlying problem of US-Mexican relations for nearly forty years. Mexico could not feasibly settle its people in the territory they already controlled, while still maintaining a large and dynamic economy. To resolve this they needed to relocate these undereducated laborers to areas of the country that needed their skills most. Many stayed on the border, but 30% were diverted to Central America and with the stroke of a pen by the Mexican President, the region was incorporated into Mexico as the largest economic zone in the nation's history. Central America had been deep in the Mexican sphere of influence for over a century, to the point that the annexation seemed like a formality, but the US took it as a direct threat to their space elevator in Ecuador, and their trade rout through Panama. The US invaded Panama to secure the Canal Zone, and war broke out almost immediately afterwards.

The fighting was concentrated predominantly in Central America and South America, with a proxy fighting in Africa and the South Pacific. Mexico was believed by the US to be an easy target, but try as they might they could not push them out of Panama. Mexican allies in South America were almost as successful at disrupting US interests, driving the Pacific Fleet of the US Navy to stay fixed around Ecuador for much of the war. The conflict dragged on, with neither side willing to directly strike the other on the US-Mexican border, as the US didn't want to risk loosing the South West, and Mexico didn't want to risk a larger war. The war was fought to a stalemate after only two years, and in 2092 the US and Mexico declared a ceasefire. At the Sao Paulo conference, the US agreed to recognize Mexico's claim to Central America, save for Panama and Belize, which were admitted as states into the Union, while Patagonia and Mapuche were granted independence from Argentina and Chile, after American forces in those countries staged revolutions to further block Mexico's naval capabilities. Neither side really won the war, but shortly after the end of the conflict, Mexico began a policy to more fully integrate its sphere and counter the US in the border lands using a policy of Ciudadano Expatriado (Expatriate Citizens). Mexico created a series of "Virtual States," and allowed people of Mexican decent living abroad to vote for representatives in the Mexican Congress. As the Mexicanos Libres Party evolved into a regionalist party, it quickly became clear that while Mexico did not win the war any more than the US, they have a stronger claim to the South West.

While America and Mexico licked their respective wounds Eurasia and Africa fractured as the majority of their populations clamored to leave Earth to seek new lives on Mars, who's population now stood at over 1 billion citizens. Fueled by the great O'Neil ships that cycle between the two worlds, carrying millions of people at a time, Mars was now the most populated colony in the Sol System. As the de facto capital of the colonies, united by a post-scarcity economic system governed by a network of quantum computers, Mars's standard of living had become the highest in the system, having passed the United States on Earth in 2093. Still they are denied equal citizenship within the United States, satiated only by the Rosalind Amendment, which granted Mars the right to form Territories and send resident commissioners to Congress. Meanwhile, in Earth orbital and Lunar colonies, harassment and terrorism by the Guardiola Foundation continues despite continued protests to Congress and the Mediterranean Union that harbors them, despite public condemnations of the Guardiolas. The Mediterranean nations are, like much of Earth, more concerned with local affairs. Protected by an alliance with Mexico, and prosperous and aristocratic, and does not believe itself threatened by any local power, to say nothing of the American space colonies.

The exodus of people from Earth to Mars was already relieving the strain on a number of powers with surplus populations, however it was also opening up opportunity for division, as the "silent majority," of many nations left, a power vacuum was left open for regionalists and separatist groups. Western Europe was the first to suffer from this, as its well educated, but economically stagnant population fled for the new opportunities of the colonies, leaving their home countries to disintegrate into smaller, bickering nations. Turkey, already weakend from decades of trying to govern many unruly territories, was torn asunder as many of its citizens left to start new lives on Mars and Titan. China saw the largest transfer of citizens to the American space colonies, and despite the power vacuum left by the Turks, they were forced to look inward and secure their borders from separatists groups. The world is breaking apart at the seams, only the Americas seem relatively stable, as two empires look to avoid another major conflict. But the center cannot hold.

Rules:

Timescale:
In this RP, I will be generally directing the timescale, although you are welcome to help out with that in the game. Because of the nature of the way RPs like this work, a single day can elapse over countless posts, or a single post can advance the timeline by a month. All that is asked is that no-one advance the timeline unreasonably. By this I mean that if two nations are at a conference and are engaging in discussions, some other player can't make a post that takes place a week in the future. That being said, try to keep such conferences to a minimum in order to keep the timeline moving. And be aware of the limitations that exist in communication technologies at this time.

Waging War:
Any conflict that is started must be waged reasonably and realistically. This is - 2100, people! Troops are constantly hampered by the technological limitations of the day, which I will go into more detail about below:

Technology:
Understanding the limitations of your nation's technology is important. Make sure that you play according to that technology.

Know How to Lose:
This is the biggest problem I see in RPs, and I have no doubt that some dummy will cause this issue at some point. In every battle, at every second, every side tries to describe some heroic definitive victory move, a "checkmate" if you will, that causes their army to emerge victorious. This results in an incredibly childish back-and-forth and makes the game un-enjoyable. if you are losing due to decisions made earlier on, then for god's sake lose! Don't try to make up some bullcrap about a single unit of soldiers that manages to survive and win the day, that's not how real war works. Now, I'm not saying that occasionally, in certain circumstances, definitive heroics aren't allowed. If I catch anyone breaking this simple rule of integrity in a major way, there will be one warning, followed by out-the-door.


Meta-Gaming:
This is the last point I need to make. What is meta-gaming? Well, when the British start thinking about negotiating a takeover of Mexico, and suddenly Mexico boosts it's military numbers way up and is put on high alert, that's meta-gaming: because Mexico couldn't possibly know exactly what the British were thinking. This is unacceptable. Also, you must declare espionage before you commit it, (either on the OOC or IC) you can't just say that you committed espionage and knew the enemy's plans after you had decimated their entire army.

CANADIAN LIBERATION FRONT
Chapter 0: Homecoming/Prologue

CLF Head Quarters, Northern Canada.

"5..4..3..2..1..HAPPY NEW YEAR!" ...Were the words spoken, via a local news broadcast in the heart-center of the achievement, Washington D.C. From views alike here, it seems another dawn of a new day for the beaver to make it's move. Hidden from the headlines since November, the organization has kept quiet, although in-touch with the American government, avoiding to be caught in plans; life or death. Meanwhile, in mainstream media concerns, the often recognized and proclaimed terrorist group has hidden itself under the radar, lurking in the shadows. But not for long, a predator cannot hide forever if it wishes to strike on it's prey, the problem is, the CLF is the prey.

New attempts are rendering that factor null and void, with the upcoming internal changes. As sunlight set glow on the snowy, subzero and moist temperatures of the Canadian subarctic, drills in the word of practice had been a common drill and wake-up call since December, often massing in huge marches or rallies, often integrating broadcasts anonymously across the Canadian districts, the CLF hoped to gather around with the Canadian people, organizing green marches across Ottawa, often failing so; confronting the American military in some cases. All these failed attempts were gathering up, learning from mistakes, stronger.

This morning, however, it would bring upon something different, as despite being at death's doorstep, the Canadian spirit lives on. With the conclusion of the news years, new plans and polices were already in effect, huge marches were organized throughout CLF concentrated areas, northward, with the Hudson Pirate Organization, a branch of the CLF covert operations, was now at it's core, only the most trained High ranks sent to covert espionage against the American populace has reported the HPO doing some effort to disrupt trade over the northwest-passage.

Today was no exception, business as usual, ships unfortunate enough to bear the warnings not to follow this path were raided and looted, with all the crew violently executed, or held for ransom. Due to obvious concerns, ships had became less frequent in rebel controlled areas, even the common American warship was seen to protect American trade interests with the stagnation of the global economy. This, is the defined focus of the new year, this was vowed to be the year where Canada would be independent for the first time in years, or at minimum, push the effort.

The classified plans were laid simple for new recruits; expansion, with some help along. Although frequent training mechanics involved the use of gathered and stolen supplies, as well with electric batons, simple training guns were used, often as cheap as a penny (not literally). But this was oath-ed to change, baffled by the negative surplus. Within a few days, to weeks, or at maximum; months. This would lead to a possible concentration or occupation for more land within the Canadian archipelago, reserving tactics such as guerrilla warfare at best. This would lead to the expansion of piracy in the region, the hopeful interests was to move the interest range far out to the northern coast of Quebec, whom is also claimed to be rightfully, Canadian land. The Senate was meeting today with the President, who proposed using the Aztlan Republican Army, the official military force of the Provisional Government, to annex territory in New Mexico, Utah and Nevada from the NARM. Normally, according to the provisional constitution, the President could authorize the Armed Forces as he pleased, as Commander-in-Chief. However, do to a previous pacts signed with the leadership of the NARM's primary militia, the National Defense Force, a number of senators opposed the idea and motioned to put it to a vote. The motion was primarily pushed by the opposition parties, most vocally by the Aztlan People's Party representatives.

President Robert Munoz walked in a few minutes after everyone had sat down. Cameras flashed, but the crews were asked to leave by guards soon after the President arrived at his podium. After they were hurried out, the President began to speak. "Fellow Aztlan representatives, I have come today to ask for your support for Order 37, which would use the ARA to annex territory held by the fascist militias associated with the National Aztlan Reconquista Movement. We must begin to centralize power in order to defend Aztlan from both Mexican and American threats."

He continued to explain his reasoning for a few minutes, then the voting process came. The oldest looking man looked around at the group. "Greetings all of you," he said, taking another pass at the group. "As you all may have heard on the news our smuggling operation has hit a snag. Last Tuesday a freighter was caught with some of our Helium-3, bound for the Mexican goverment. It was taken by the US coppers. We are out a week of embezzling. We need a faster way to get our loads to Earth to get the arms we need." The man looked around. "Gretia, update us on the cyber world." Hearing her name a woman from the other side of the shaft spoke up. Everyone turned to hear.

"Just the normal stuff. We have been getting the flight reports to and from the Moon. Ore estiments, what not. We have also been working on the newsletter. So far we have tested it in a closed system. Most of the time it works. It will give us a few seconds to broadcast a message or two to the public. We will work on more." The woman seemed to be finished. The older man called out another name, Jess, who filled the awkward silence.

"Due to the lost Helium-3 our goon squad is preping to take over a few private mines owned by corporations back on Earth. Most of them are puppet companies that the big dogs will not care about when they sink. They are a series of small mines located on the edge of US lunar holdings. We have three mines in our sights right now, maybe another five later on. We have a few sabetures in the works. We plan to make the location appear either useless or so dangerous it has to be evacuated. In the event that the corp. pulls its equipment we can scrounge up our own." As the crowds finally quieted down, Samson began to give his inaugural speech that he had prepared. In he speech, Samson presented his plan to revitalize China and make it a dominant world power once more, as well as improve the lives of Chinese citizens by giving them more government assistance. However, he left out a few details, such as the fact that North China had been secretly researching and developing space-based weaponry, even though the United States had banned all military activities in space in the aftermath of World War III. Nevertheless, the Chinese had a strong desire to challenge the American dominance over the planet and take advantage of the opportunities outer space had to offer, such as resources.

Thus, after the inauguration had been completed, Samson's first act in office was to form an alliance with Democratic Russia, and Congress had already given support to this proposal during the previous president's term. Unlike the Chinese, the Russians had space-based weaponry, and they had the capability of challenging the United States. If an alliance was made, Samson's plans could become a reality.

From views alike here, it seems another dawn of a new day for the beaver to make it's move. Hidden from the headlines since November, the organization has kept quiet, although in-touch with the American government, avoiding to be caught in plans; life or death. Meanwhile, in mainstream media concerns, the often recognized and proclaimed terrorist group has hidden itself under the radar, lurking in the shadows. But not for long, a predator cannot hide forever if it wishes to strike on it's prey, the problem is, the CLF is the prey.

Chronicle I:Thirst for Retribution

Mexico City, Mexico

Crowds danced and celebrated to the rhythm of the music. Millions and millions of Mexicans roared throughout the largest city in the world. New Year's Eve fireworks, signs, and shouts filled every corner and building of the Federal District. Yet, the government knows how troublesome Mexican culture is. After a while, people have reached their peak in alcohol consumption and start to let out stress they have accumulated over 365 days. The riot police are soon overwhelmed and the Mexican government needs to step in, bringing in armored vehicles and aircraft. Eventually, the intoxicated crowds are quelled by the simple sight of military power. Yet, celebrations continue.

At around 2 AM, the January climate begins to get the better of the people. Slowly, but surely, the herds begin to thin as everyone starts to leave home for their comfy beds, seeking shelter from the icy cold. The few that stay behind are under careful watch from the uniformed men with assault rifles.

Meanwhile, the leader of this entire empire watches from the safety of his castle. Literally, of course, since in 2070, the Chapultepec Castle has been designated the official residence of the Mexican President. The incumbent, Virgilio Vegas Morelos resides behind the reinforced walls and military forces of the castle. The Castle, a historical relic, is now one of the most protected and modern structures on Earth, with the residential spaces having been completely renovated yet the rest been maintained as a museum. An entire army division guarded the building, with the nearby military installation providing air power and the ground force keeping guard.

Now, Virgilio Vegas, keeping his celebrations to a minimum, resumed his paused work as being the executive power of the nation. Many notifications appeared on his monitor, he opened the messages and found one from a certain "Canadian Liberation Front" and read it. After pondering for several minutes, he ordered the Secretariat of Defense to write a response. Many responses for many others, too.

"Happy New Year!" Was the cry that echoed around Chairman Jason Avernax's penthouse inside the AverGlo tower. Glasses clinked and champagne was imbibed. Yet, the passing of the year was far from the first thing on Jason's mind. And everyone in the penthouse knew it. In fact, many of those who shared the room with Jason had the same thoughts on their mind, and were eager to share their opinion on the matter. Yet, it wasn't quite time. Soon, though, AverGlo's next chapter would be unveiled. Soon, Jason felt, the world would be changing quite drastically. And as he sipped champagne and stared out the window, he pondered how his company would have a hand in it.

Not twelve hours later, Jason and his fellow chairmen - some in a deep hangover - were gathered around a monitor. Jason stood at the helm, and waited for his companions to cease his muttering before beginning.

"Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the next phase in the development of Avernax Global as a world power." Jason stated as he tapped a button on the console. The continent of Africa appeared, with three glowing dots on the West Coast, Southern Coast, and one at the Nile River Delta. Each dot had a panel next to it, with different readouts of the natural resources at the site.

"Here lie three massive drops of natural resources. Some of the largest remaining on the planet. As of yet, no nations have made a move for them. Which means that we at Avernax have an open doorstep to expand our economical strength. We will send out task forces of employees guarded by a security detail to take hold of the sites. From there, the resources will be quickly harvested. And, with luck, we'll hold them over the heads of the nations that need them most." Jason continued, scanning the room for any opposition. He found some in the form of Chairman Manson.

"How can we be so sure that nations won't simply carpet bomb the facilities? This is the most aggressive move AverGlo has made in years. Nations will see it as in act of war! I move to discard this action." The old, shriveled man exclaimed, waving his hands about for good measure.

"Motion overridden. Chairman Manson, and any Chairmen who may oppose this motion. Consider what the vision of my father, and his father before him, was when they formed this Corporation. Their whole purpose was to create a company that could rival the greatness of any nation on Earth. This is that vision continued! Are you really going to stand in the way and defy my bloodline?" Jason questioned, giving the man a hard stare. Some of the other Chairmen shifted in their seats uncomfortably.

"This is not what your father and grandfather meant by greatness! They wanted a company that produced quality goods with a good conscience! This is exploitation and oppression of a struggling populace! And I refuse to be a part of it. Consider this my resignation." Replied Manson, who then stood.

Jason sighed at the man, and put his head down. Reaching into his coat pocket, Jason procured a silenced pistol. Pointing it quickly at Manson, he squeezed the trigger and watched as a round punched cleanly through the man's face. Manson promptly tumbled to the floor, and two uniformed AverGlo security employees quickly swept him up and dragged him away. Placing the pistol on the table in front of him, Jason growled,

"Resignation accepted. If any other Directors or Chairmen would like to relinquish their position at this moment, I will take it as a hostile action against this entire corporation. And you will be dealt with promptly. Now, I motion to begin Operation Black Sand. Do I have agreement from the Board?"

A chorus of "I"s followed Jason as he grinned and nodded.

Back at the Siberian Space pad in Tobolsk, A SLS Rocket is preparing to launch supplies to the moon base. In the Control Center people are going crazy about the storm that might affect the launch. But at 2 P.M, the rocket was preparing for launch. The ship had a crew of 4 with a cargo hold with enough supplies to last 6 months.

"Spinck 3, this is control center, you are clear to launch. T-Minus 20 Seconds, booster stabilizers control systems activated. Cabin Pressure is activitated. Oxygen tanks activated. Nuclear Rods stable."

"Thank You Tobolsk. We are ready for launch."

"T-Minus 10 seconds, 9, ignition sequence on, 6 ,5,4,3,2,1. We have Lift Off! All conditions stable. It looks like its going well. Spinck 3 is now a mile high. It is out of our sites so switch on the animation. The Rocket is now at 10,437 feet. All systems stable."

"Spinck is now out of the atmosphere transferring orbits. And...... Now! Engage Slingshot Maneuvers!

The ship spent 3 hours to finally make the release position from Earths orbit to the moons orbit. Ironically, they were right above North America as they transferred orbits. Another 5 hours has passed and Spinck 3 is now in range of the Siberian Moon Base.

"We are now over Moon Base now lets burn retrograde and softly kiss the surface. Easy. Steady..... and touch down!"

The base was a minor city about the range of 12 by 10 miles. Wealthy people moved to the moon only seeing a sunset or sunrise every 28 days. Life on the moon gets quiet as people there don't have their friends or loved ones with them. Houses were made in elegancy for the average person on earth.

The New Human Alliance is the political body representing the colonies of Titan and the neighbouring lunar systems of Saturn. It was officially formed with the ratification of the Nova Terran Act in 2096 by both chambers of the Parliament of Titan. The act declared Titan as a free and sovereign republic, independent of the imperial nations of Terra.

Government
The head of state and government for the NHA is the chief executive minister, the Consul Primaris. The Consul Primaris serves a term of four years; there is no limit to the number of terms a CP can serve.

Parliament comprises the legislature and is bicameral, composed of the Council of Archons and the Council of Praefects. Archons are appointed by the Consul Primaris, and serve terms of twelve years. Praefects are representatives of the Districts, elected by the people who live there, and serve terms of four years. There are no limits to the number of terms an Archon or Praefect may serve.

The judiciary is made up of the municipal, district, and federal courts of the NHA. At the highest level is the Supreme Nova Court, with nine Vindicators appointed by the Consul Primaris with the "advice and consent" of the Council of Praefects.

Nova Gaea is on the other side of the Gallic Ocean; the capital is Greendale. Ringview is south of Nova Gaea; the capital is Saturn Heights. Xanadu is on the Bronze Plains, north of Cronos; the capital is Metro Xanadu. Saturnapolis is the largest Region and the capital of the New Human Alliance; it is located south of Cronos, on the Saturn Sea and the capital district is Seaside.

Major outposts include new military settlements on Rhea; the Odysseum complex and science stations on Enceladus, ore mining stations on Hyperion, Iapetus, Mimas, Dione, and Helene; the Cassini Staryards, which manufacture and repair the spacefaring vessels great and small, from the mighty warships of the Nova Navy to the ice mining drones that provide fresh water to the entire Solar System; and the all-important ice mining stations scattered throughout the rings of Saturn. Also posted throughout the Saturn system are the innumerable satellites and defense facilities that keep the New Human Alliance safe and independent of the inner worlds.

Economy
The New Human Alliance economy is primarily based in the export of fresh water. Most of the water mined and shipped in the Alliance goes to Mars, to provide fresh drinking water for over a billion Martians and to facilitate the terraforming efforts there. The rest goes to the colonies on Luna, and to Terra. The rivers and seas of propane and ethane that originally flowed on the surface of Titan are being moved to immense storage facilities in orbit and sold at a regulated rate. Once the valuable chemicals are drained, the river- and lake beds will be refilled with water.

Titan also imports many things from the inner worlds, to supplement the foods and manufactured items produced here. These including foodstuff, industrial materials, and luxury items.

Society
Titan was originally settled at Nova Gaea in 2075 by colonists from many Terran nations and has been expanding at a prodigious pace ever since. Allied mainly with the United States of America and maintaining friendly ties with many other nations from which the original colonist came. Now, more than a generation later, the Titan colonies have declared their independence of Terra and established the New Human Alliance, a sovereign nation of Titanian citizens, Saturnine residents, and those who live and work in the lunar outposts - united under the Nova banner as a single people.

The NHA yet maintains close relations with other nations, particularly the USA on Terra and those on Mars. The benefits of primordial fresh water supplied to the inner worlds means some of the tremendous pressures are lifted from those countries bloated with billions of people. With the ample resources and wealth generated by water exporting, the New Human Alliance has begun financing exploratory missions to the Jupiter system. Ganymede and Europa alone may represent a vast potential for expansion and prosperity, not just for the NHA but for all of humanity.

The report was decently written, though not exceptional and lacked many details; other areas required elaboration. All in all, not great but not bad. She marked the boy's essay as Gamma Plus, removed the drive and returned it to the capsule containing the rest of the class' drives before shuting the reader off for the night.

After they were done, the guards, scientists, and engineers waited patiently for the CMC members to arrive.

After obtaining permission from Democratic Russia, two high-ranking members of the Central Military Command were sent to the facilities; Pao Yaozu, the Chairman of the CMC, and Hsueh Guozhi, a general in the CMC. Both of the men boarded a black VTOL shuttle in Beijing, along with several guards that were dressed in powered exoskeletons and wielding heavy weaponry. The shuttle then activated its engines and lifted into the air, heading north towards Mongolia.

After spending some time in flight, the shuttle reached the border between China and Mongolia. The shuttle headed towards facility D6, as this was the closest facility to their location. Chairman Yaozu watched from a window as the shuttle flew over the Mongolian steppes at hundreds of miles per hour.

"Attention facility D6, we are requesting permission to land," one of the pilots would say in his com-link in an attempt to contact the facility. "We are affiliated with North China, and two representatives of our Central Military Command are on board."

Yaozu suddenly snapped out of his trance as the shuttle was about to land, while the general was scrolling through his datapad.

It fires molten metal suspended into a single beam by an electromagnetic field. We call it the Redstar cannon." Just after he said that, the Redstar shot at a dummy target at the range. The dummy target was instantly incinerated and the ground had a huge crater in it. "The weapon can be scaled up, or down depending on what you want. It could be as powerful as a nuclear weapon or as powerful as a small pistol."

To the right was an electricity weapon. "This is, basically, a lightning gun. Codenamed the X-91, the lightning weapon can lock on to multiple targets at once, fitting the definition of an electric chain weapon." After he said that, the weapon fired and hit four dummy targets at once, killing them all. "Of course, the weapon cannot be used for a long-range role. We find it's better for short to medium range."

Going forward and to the left, there was a weapon. It was really big and had a barrel shroud. "This is a minigun. We call it the Hedgehog. It shoots High Velocity Armor Piercing rounds. It can shoot bullets at velocities far beyond current light machine guns can and with a devastating rate of fire, close to 10,000 rounds per minute. Of course, the ammunition supply is a problem for normal soldiers, but with the advent of exoskeletons, we find that they can carry large amounts of ammo, so it isn't much of a problem."

To the right, there was a strange-looking almost alien weapon. "This is the X-1 Sapper. It shoots projectiles that are automatically programmed to blow up when inside organic material which increases the killing potential of the weapon. Also, the projectiles are very, very, armor piercing, so much that it can completely ignore current tank armor, killing the crew inside but leaving the tank itself intact. Do we need to take a break or can I continue?"

Chapter One - A Union Torn Asunder

President Jousef Haviiar sat at his desk, his head and it's graying hair in his hands. The economy, even being the largest and strongest in the world, was falling at rates that had economists quoting right and left. The problem? Debt? No, America had immediately claimed no debt after China's collapse, and could know pay and run itself with little to know borrowing. Energy shortage? No to that as well, fusion reactors, solar panels, wind farms and garbage burning powered many cities, hell, a ten by ten mile grid on the Moon powered the mainland USA, including Canada easily, with much power left over.

The problem was, resources. At current consumption of resources, with quality of living and simple goods most Americans got daily, resources of the earth would be gone within 10 years, and that was only if America had access to those resources, the whole world ran on them! The quantum economic model and space resources had added another year or two without change to earths economy, and that was figuring no ecoterrorists made strikes at them. And these spoke nothing of the 30% of Americans without jobs thanks to robots and automation. Manufacturing was almost entirely automized now, 3-D printing and other technologies could make entire Naval vessels that would take humans a half year to build, in two weeks, and that was well would be autonomous! Most of the evicted had turned to small commercial farming for sale in local markets and such, or had moved to the Canadian wilderness to make a love as cattle farmers. He sighed as he passed through another measurement, a reform to prop up the stagnated economy for another month or so.

Haviiar shook his head as a notice flared across his screen. Notice for immediate meeting with the Generals if the armed forces to discuss a opening of hostilities with Aztlan. Rubbing his eyes, he dragged his finger across the screen, the four men appearing in their respective boxes Ina. Large screen at the front of the large room.

"Hello gentleman, I'm guessing you have all decided a plan to open up hostilities?" He said, taking a sip of water and rubbing his eyes once more.

Any drone flights, troop movements and trade will be immediately destroyed or seized by Shock Troops. As we speak, the 7th Shock Commandos are deploying to their capital, Dallas, to hopefully decapitate their government, as well, Battle Stars will strike at military bases to distract the from the front.

Captain Nathaniel Matthews gritted his teeth as his pod slammed into a vacant lot in Dallas. It is well known that the beginning of what could be called the Second Renaissance, including the mass advances in space, and social technologies was begun by America and her allies. So in all honesty, shouldn't our former colonies be more appreciative of the nations of Terra? Yet our former colonies shun us and make laws to ensure no Ex-American,Mexican, German or Russian citizen aids their home land.

It is from this point on, the United States of America will embargo all trade and blockade any trade or transport between the New Human alliance and Terra and her colonies. Perhaps this will no longer be needed in a few weeks, but for now, the NHA will be isolated from Terra.

Over the parade, Thai aircraft flew through the sky, releasing colored smoke in the order of the flag of the country.

Meanwhile, Premier Sarit was busy with projects regarding weapons and space capability to become a world power. In an undisclosed location in a Burmese Jungle, Kinetic Weapons were being research and developed in secret to have an efficient Strike System. Other weapons were being researched in the facility, but for now, the main focus was on Kinetic Weapons.

The United States has long been the primary ally of Titan and the New Human Alliance would continue to maintain that freindly relationship. However, it is decidedly contrary to the best interests of the Nova people to become involved in the belligerent conflicts of Terra. All of Terra, and all the colonies of Terran origin, benefit from the billions of tons of fresh water provided by the NHA. And yet you would unilaterally deny water to the entire Earth, Luna, and Mars because of a perceived lack of appreciation.

I do not pretend to know what sort of accolades or applause the United States of America requires to feel sufficiently placated, but the New Human Alliance, and indeed every government is - or should be - above such petty concerns. The nations of Terra plunge headlong into war, determined to commit the egregious failings of history yet again, in the name of hubris and in a shortsightedness that tragically fails every single one of your constituents.

The New Human Alliance does not shun the United States of America, or any of the states of Terra, or any of the colonial nations. What we shun is the blind determination to resolve political issues with violence and the deaths of Terrans.

The blockade of Titanian water only hurts the people of the inner worlds. Chapter 1: "It's not what it is, it's what it can become."

Never forgotten, ever spoken. The Canadian anthem cried through every morning, shattering through the solid ice beneath the crisp feet of the patriotic soldiers, remaining tall with the Canadian spirit, what a shame it would be to loose it all. Daily marches were a routine amongst CLF members, despite unforgiving crimes that the CLF has done, all men, each camp, dusk till dawn, is treated equally, everybody there deserves to be loved and feel special, favoring and honoring a special authority and purpose.

The marches flooded through occupied settlements at best, rallies hosted once in a week to lay out new plans and circumstances. All of whom were to change, as the men, with their hearts, set upon the news flash. With the supplies received from Mexico now in, and the treaty in-effect, the wheels were rolling, all was set into motion, it was to be slow, and quick at the same time. Mobilization, had began. However, at foremost, a slow process for the CLF. Reserves were still in reservation, as, discussed in person, the high command knew that the CLF couldn't get itself up in such a intense and rapid process.

No, instead, training would continue, under more regulated rule. Most excessive training exercises consisted with electric batons, or other material. Several recruits had been in the camps for years, and were well experienced, others, nearly half, whom had recently enlisted, were pitiful and unchallenged. As a result, with new supplies received, consisting in more frequent, and advanced weapons, these immediately replaced the currently in service. To speed up the mobilization process, training sessions were extended, became more frequent, strict and regulated, all to insure that once the CLF began to sink it's feet within the soil again, it would unleash with it's full strength.

The Hudson Pirating Organization, the pirating branch of the Canadian Liberation Front, began to expand it's influential and concentration zones, primarily north and west, closer to the waters of the Canadian-claimed Quebec, whom would soon be the pawns of the CLF's plan, once all members were fairly or completely trained. This will indure more causalities as the HPO begins to speed up it's production of ships for other plans that will be mentioned, until then, to avoid a total loss in the supplies incoming, the trade will be disrupted further to secure CLF supply routes and loot more ships in the process, brilliant.

Aside from the preparation plan, the CLF has laid new solid claims on the country province of Quebec, a land of whom which most ethnic Canadians claim. The plan was labeled in distinct steps, it was estimated to be set into effect once the preparation had finished, estimated to take a couple months or so. Code-named, Operation: St.Lawrence, it displays the fall of Quebec, and estimated future plans, classified under the document. This, of course, starts with the potential scenario of the CLF at it's full strength, and all previous projects have been completed.

1. First strikes

Civilian, government, and economic targets will be laid in Montreal, Quebec City, and other geographically important areas. This will imply and authorize the use of terrorism against the nation, whom will shock and enforce the nation into security within the selected area. If all goes according to plan, conflicting with the fall of the government and/or the surrender, a temporary puppet government will be established to secure means, however, the CLF will have direct control over the state's resources, pirating operations will also migrate to Quebec city during the siege, Montreal, is too, to be flanked and captured rapidly, whom will cancel all of the supplies through the St.Lawrence if cut off, as well as surrounding the capital. Back on topic, however, the CLF will hopefully branch out support to Mexico and possibly other nations to initiate support, to prevent a American intervention directly.

4. Conclusion

Although this leaves the CLF at a unconformable position, it is the only chance, yet there is still hope for the minds of the brave Canadians. During the time of the conquest of the weak, unprepared Quebecois, terrorist attacks, aswell as other covert operations will commence once more in the American mainland if triggered, this will be in response of a very possible blockade and/or airstrikes, with propaganda also funded within American-governed and Canada, to trigger the reaction of improved support to the CLF, with the fall of Quebec, overtime, with a massive funding campaign, whom will be used from the bank of Quebec, will all be oriented to a revolt against the Americans, and installment of a independent Canada. All American-forged policies will be disbanded, and all covert actions against the US will be withdrawn until further notice, Canada will attempt to revive relations, and trade, with the US overtime to prevent a invasion, knowing that the US would not be happy loosing nearly a half of their land.
