Violence.

Yes, this can be posted, and often is one of the most posted topics, given all the wars, rumors of wars, etc. The difference is in HOW we post it. For example, consider the following.

The scent of burning flesh was nauseating. Bodies were strewn across the square, some barely recognizable as such. The bomb had had the intended effect, and now only the moans of the injured and dying, and the cries of shock from the survivors better able to comprehend what had just happened, filtered through the smoke-filled air.

VS

There were burning bodies everywhere. Eyes had been melted out, arms and legs and other body parts were laying across the ground in growing pools of blood and gore. Entrails spilled out into the streets and filled the gutters. Already, there were signs of scavengers looking for an easy meal. The bomb had gone off in the crowd, and shredded men, women, and children with the packed shrapnel it carried. A woman was kneeling, crying over a body that was barely recognizable, its face smashed in by a concrete block, clothes fused to its flesh by the heat of the blast ... (etc etc etc)

See the difference there? Same scene, same topic, two different approaches. The latter is too graphic. It reveals too much. The first tells the story, shows the violence and aftermath, without getting all gory about it. The first is ok. The second, is not.

As for the mature content - that is another touchy business. The best rule of thumb is if you are not capable of keeping it between the bounds of acceptability, do not post it at all. What has carried on here up to this point was not acceptable. Details, getting too graphic, the sound effects (really, kids - sound effects?), the pure overplayed nature of it all marks this thread for death, sorry.

Sex.

This can also be addressed. Even rape can be addressed. But you walk a very fine line between illustrating a situation, posting more or less poorly-written porn, and outright using the forums to cyber one another - or at the very least, get your jollies off with npc's. (Seriously, folks. Sad doesn't even begin to cut it, if it's reached that point.)

There needs to be a reason its written. There needs to be a purpose - outside of 'I want to write about teh sexah times', because that simply won't cut it.

An example, for clarity's sake.

The Lieutenant responds "Release our captured men first, it was your fault for sending spies."

Meanwhile, the screaming and orgasms get louder, and a heavy repetitive thumping noise is heard on top of a lot of 'ahh' and 'ooh' sounds.

Once again, see the difference? Same situation, same ideas expressed, without the extremely crude and clumsy attempt at sex. This was almost painful to read, folks. Not to mention the fact that the only reason it seems to have happened at all was on a lark. Serious RP? Hardly. Spam, and inappropriate spam at that. So.
