The history of a legend: Monteluci, from 1907 on.

In 1907, the Corso Federale 28 in Venezia was rented by an ambitious young man, going by the name of Gilberto Monteluci. He came from a wealthy family, that had influence in the local politics and economy. After having studied at the Università degli Studi di Meccanica Lepanto in Venezia, and having experienced the corporate culture at Lepanto, the legendary sports car manufacturer, he was eager to set up his own workshop, where he would be able to construct the cars that he liked, incorporating luxury and speed. He was quick to build his first car, which he had already sketched out in the years before. Therefore, in 1907, the first Monteluci came from the small building on the Corso Federale, a car that Gilberto named the Pangea. The vehicle quickly caught the attention of dozens of potential customers from across the nation, and Gilberto had to hire extra personnel in order to be able to fulfill all these orders. He quickly established a reputation for his excellent automobiles, that were practical, but also perfect for track use. His second model, the Minerva, was also the first of his own cars that Gilberto raced in various competitions around the nation. With moderate success with himself behind the wheel, his performance quickly caught the attention of more well-known racing drivers in the Van Luxemburger scene, such as Kristian Reiset. Under his command, the Monteluci racing team and motorsport division, better known as SFS, flourished and recorded more wins than ever before. After the Minerva, the first of the cars in the ‘Tipo’ series appeared, being the Tipo 127 In 1917. It had an inline 8 engine that had no less than 24 litres in displacement, and was among the fastest in the field at that point in time. With his sports team under the guidance of Reiset, Gilberto Monteluci focused on his road cars, while still taking orders from Reiset and other contract drivers to deliver their racing vehicles. Already in 1921, 14 years after the company had been founded, a Tipo 139 Landaulet Castagna was used as the official state vehicle for the Grand-Ducal Family. This was however not the first, and certainly not the last Monteluci in Grand-Ducal service.

The Tipo 166 Berlina, test bed for the Tipo 188

In 1929, the Tipo 166, a large berlina, saloon car, was delivered to Gilberto Monteluci himself, for testing purposes. It had a brand new V8 engine, with a 5-litre displacement, which meant it could effectively attain speeds of 180 km/h. Eventually, the large Tipo 166 turned out to be an engine test bed for a smaller 3-litre V8, which was perfected over the years and mounted in the legendary Tipo 188 from 1934 on, proving to deliver a simply massive 380 horsepower. The Tipo 188 was the most successful racer Monteluci had ever built, and still is today.

With a grand total of 24 produced, and only four of these vehicles having survived, it is one of the many limited-series cars Monteluci built. However, the Tipo 166 is even harder to find, as only one surviving example is known, and currently exhibited in the Museo Storico of Monteluci in Venezia, along with one of the only road-going Tipo 188’s remaining, the other being part of the Grand-Ducal automobile collection. As the domination of the constantly-improved Tipo 188 effectively ended in 1939, the new Tipo 201 had to live up to high expectations when it first entered several races, but couldn’t quite make those expectations true. Several years later, in 1943, Gilberto Monteluci died through a factory accident, after which all medical assistance proved fruitless. Conspiracy theories still speculate that the founder and director of Monteluci was assassinated by the Van Luxemburger intelligence and security service IVD, for his fierce opposition of the plan to nationalize several automobile manufacturers. Instead, Monteluci received fierce competition from VLT, which opened up the automobile market to the man in the street.

Instead, Monteluci began to profile itself more and more as a brand for the rich and famous, with a sporty undertone in their luxury vehicles. Throughout the 1950’s and 1960’s, the brand had much success with their strategy to market large and refined luxury cars to the people of Tarquinia primarily, especially to prominent political, economic and cultural figures. This also came with some downsides: It is no secret that Francois van der Rei, also known as ‘The most hated man in Tarquinia’ and the dictator of Oseato at the time of the Five Years’ War, had a preference for large Monteluci saloon cars. After the Five Years’ War, however, Tarquinia was in ruins. There was a massive demand for vehicles with smaller engine displacements, more fuel efficiency and a reduced price. Being used to build large and exclusive cars, and still having to pay for their racing team, participating in the mundane Tarquinian Grand Prix races at the time, the brand was unable to adapt.

Sales fell back to next-to-nothing, and from the 1980’s on, Monteluci had to request governmental support in order to stay in operation, before being taken up into and financed by Fireta in 1989 for some time. In those times, Monteluci could do little more than keep up-to-date with their model line, but never had the possibility of excelling at technology as they did in the years before. In the Fireta years, some extensive investments were done in the Monteluci model line, and the brand, which used to be a shadow of its former self, could compete again with some of the more successful brand son the market. With billions of Florins invested in the brand by 1995, the first positive financial results came out, especially for the Van Luxemburger market, where press reviews had been generally very positive of their newest models. This sales momentum slowly began to spread across Tarquinia, where VLT had kept up the name of Van Luxemburger automobile manufacturers in the past years, while Monteluci had little influence in terms of new models. This however slowly began to change, as buyers began to associate Monteluci with Van Luxemburger premium automobiles again.

However, it was deemed to be necessary for the company to keep up their momentum to eventually be able to become profitable without governmental aid, and therefore the decision was made to merge Monteluci into the VLT Group in 2007. This decision, along with some streamlining in terms of management and efficiency by the new owners, lead to a reborn Monteluci, their first creation being the brand new Duca, a car that will remain the smallest model in the Monteluci line-up for the years to come. The brand re-entered the World Championship of Grand Prix racing again, with the Monteluci RF12 and star drivers Daniel Baer and Yves Lachapelle. Two years later, the Ducareale and Bucintoro followed the Duca, bringing Monteluci back to the forefront of premium automobiles. Since the launch of these vehicles several prominent customers have once again decided to make the right choice: Monteluci. Where Passione per gli Automobili still exists.

Mission statement, Automobili Monteluci

Since Monteluci was founded in the building on Corso Federale number 28 in Venezia, our brand has kept to its original values; we want to provide the best cars possible, automobiles that incorporate style and fashion, together with a sports heritage to be proud of, and combine them into the ultimate premium luxury vehicle. Ever since 1907, our company has kept to this promise, and we still do today, using over 100 years of heritage and experience to build the best cars for our customers.

When you buy a Monteluci, you will not simply buy a car. You buy a piece of our history, one that will serve you until infinity, with its timeless beauty as a trademark for all Monteluci vehicles. You will also gain access to one of the closest-knit brand communities in the world, which organizes meetings, group activities and, above all, will provide you with all the information necessary about your new car. In essence, Monteluci is not just a brand; it is a lifestyle, for those that appreciate the finer things in life.

Young and old alike will be interested in a Monteluci. Our customer can be profiled as a distinguished and successful man or woman, regardless of age, race or nationality, who is interested in premium quality and has the budget to make the decision to buy a Monteluci, thus being part of the upper classes in terms of personal wealth. Owners refuse to associate themselves with a vulgar and flashy lifestyle, but rather prefer a modest approach to showing their wealth. They make decisions regarding their cars not just rationally, but also put emotion and joy in driving their car ahead of other requirements.

Our unique, passionate approach to motoring has already attracted various customers, many of which belong to the most prominent circles in several nations. The Monteluci Ducareale has gained popularity as being the service vehicle of H.M. the Grand Duke of Van Luxemburg, the Monteluci Bucintoro is often seen in the hands of His Excellency, Premier Nicolas Hirtz of Van Luxemburg. Further prominent customers are Her Majesty Queen Clare of Laysley, while Her Excellency Consul Colton of Oseato, along with His Excellency Vice Consul Yeager of Oseato have also discovered the automotive excellence that is provided by Monteluci.

Why Monteluci?

Unlike many brands, Monteluci service does not stop when you drive off from your local dealership; We provide a red carpet treatment for every garage visit a customer has to do, regardless of the age and condition of the vehicle. This means that a car will be picked up by a skilled Monteluci employee from its locations, no matter where, and will then be taken to your own dealership, where an experienced mechanic will be responsible for your vehicle; this means your vehicle will have its own ‘personal’ mechanic. We shall not only take care of the technical condition of your vehicle, but after every visit to the workshop, the vehicle will be cleaned throroughly, by hand, after which the car will be returned to your doorstep, where the employee that makes the delivery will talk you through the reparations or modifications, if you so prefer. This is what Monteluci calls ‘Tappeto Rosso’, personal service the Monteluci way.

Image

Apart from receiving our biannual Monteluci magazine, further benefits of the Monteluci lifestyle are the various annual events that the clubs organize, including driving courses, social events, but also exclusive sneak-peeks at new models. We cooperate with the best of brands worldwide, such as Bastien of Zinaire, to provide high-quality fashion and lifestyle accessories to our customers.

We however do not only look at the present; our history is well-represented among our customers. Historical vehicles are carefully maintained and, if necessary, completely restored, by our skilled maintenance teams, especially trained on servicing the many historic vehicles that Monteluci has produced in its rich history. The Monteluci Galleria in Venezia, Van Luxemburg, is not just a museum of the history of our brand, it also serves as the most prominent authority on Monteluci classics, as it is able to restore them to the highest standards (including a certficate of authenticity and, where possible, the complete history of said vehicle). It also still has the majority of Monteluci parts in storage, for every vehicle that ever left the factory. If a part is not present in our massive stock, our experts are able to hand-craft the requested part, especially for your classic. This is why we at Monteluci say that we have Passione per gli Automobili.

Quality and personal service: our dealerships

Of course, our brand can not go without dealerships. Our dealership formula guarantees ultimate personal service in great luxury and comfort; not the average machine coffee with a pushy salesman, but good quality espresso and cappuccino with a sales advisor that will be able to advise you on every possible decision, while taking his time to explain the various possibilities. That is what we promise.

We also offer significant after-market customization options for your car, ranging from different wheels to in-car entertainment and interior and exterior accents, all designed by Monteluci’s Centro Stile in order to offer a harmonious look of your car, even with various accessories.

Squadra Forze Sportive; profoundly enjoying your sporty Monteluci

Image

Squadra Forze Sportive or SFS has been the motorsports division of Monteluci for around one hundred years. We have been responsible for the most legendarious Montelucis ever to be made, and also several of the rarest. Today, we are known for running the company’s WCGP Formula One Team, but also for the activity in several touring car and endurance racing classes with the Duca and the Bucintoro.

But we think that the sportive feeling of Montelucis should not just be limited to a race track; we want to make the racing heritage of Monteluci available to every customer, by offering our SFS versions of the regular road-going models (Duca and Ducareale). Powered by eager 8 and 12-cylinder engines, which produce arousing sounds and extreme performance, the vehicles have been modified to resemble an experience that comes very close to driving a race car on public roads. Modified suspension, advanced technology, while retaining ultimate luxury. We guarantee that our SFS vehicles are the most exciting vehicles currently available on the market.

Owning an SFS gives you a special place in the Monteluci society. You have bought the pinnacle of Monteluci engineering and technology, a very capable car in the hands of a capable driver. And in order to make sure the driver is capable, every SFS owner gets a specific Monteluci Driving School course in order to explore the limits of their vehicles, as we want our customers to enjoy their cars to the fullest. Personal driving training, both on a track and on public roads, especially for SFS owners.

Monteluci SFS Corse, racing for everyone

Ever since the first Monteluci entered a race track, over one hundred years ago, our company has supported our customers in their racing ventures. We make use of our own Driving School to teach our customers the fine art of racing, in order to eventually earn the sought-after international racing accreditation. Our customers can choose from several possibilities when racing a Monteluci; our Corse department will support you in every way possible. This can range from full support, including pit crew, such that the racing driver will not have to go through the process of recruiting and training his own team, but Monteluci Corse can also support your team just by technical support and repairs, or even just by sending the parts you require.

Image

The same goes for the cars; our company will deliver a base solution for your racing team, including extensive instructions on how to modify the set-up to your likings. Our most prominent product is the successful Monteluci Duca SFS Corse racer, a two-door touring car racer that is suited to most types of touring car or endurance racing and can be delivered with a complete range of different racing engines. There are many different possibilities for your racing team, please inquire with our sales department.

Welcome to the world, Monteluci

As a decidedly premium brand, our company has seen a globalization surge recently, with the adoption of our new global strategy. Monteluci strives to maintain a uniform model range all across the world, and therefore insists that all models are available in all markets we have expanded to. An absolute requirement for all worldwide markets is also to offer the SFS models of any Monteluci currently available, in order to attract new customers to our dealerships, simply by having these vehicles act as prestige models for our company.

All our cars will go through minor modifications for every market, mostly to meet legal requirements. We however strive to have as much engine types available in our model range as possible, and will only consider dropping an engine from a model line for a certain nation when the long-term sales have been zero for at least two consecutive years, or if emission regulations force us to do so.

What else can we do for you?

Monteluci is always looking to improve ourselves. Should you be interested in giving us advice on how to improve our company, we would advise you to contact our management directly, or inquire at a local dealership. We always value your input,

Monteluci Duca: Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger

Image
Monteluci Duca 2008, dynamic sketch

The Monteluci Duca is the first new model after VLT merged with the legendary brand from Venezia, Van Luxemburg, in 2007. Also known as ‘Progetto Flora’ internally, the car will return Monteluci to the forefront of premium automobiles. With several new technologies, stylish design, perfect build quality and great handling, the Duca can revolutionize the market for compact executive cars. An additional offering is the Duca Sportwagon, or SW, a lifestyle estate car that allow owners to not only enjoy their car, but also offer practicality, by its 1450-litre boot capacity.

The styling of the Duca was realized by the Monteluci Centro Stile at the central headquarters of Monteluci in 2007. It features smooth lines on a four-door saloon car with a coupe-like roofline, making it look dynamic and sleek. The face of the car is defined by the two-part headlamps, in which the outer side part incorporate the indicator lights and the daylight running lights, both incorporating LED technology, running along the length of the headlamps. The upper part of the headlight glazing incorporate the actual headlamps, offering either halogen or Bi-Xenon lighting (the latter being an option). The fog lights are located well below the headlight units, in two air intake units that give the Duca its signature aggressive look. What is left is the iconic Monteluci grille, that has been present on every Monteluci production car, with the logo located in a central position on top of the grille, which is essentially wrapped around this logo.

The wheelarches are beautifully sculpted and add to the sporty look of the Duca. They can be filled by a line of specially-designed light alloy wheels ranging in size from 17 to 19 inch (depending on the model bought). Every set of wheels comes with the refined rubber of Pirelli, particularly the P-Zero line of products, to further the handling of the vehicle. As standard, a full-fledged fifth alloy replacement wheel of the same type is located under the luggage compartment, reducing stress when driving with a replacement.

Image

The side of the vehicle further stresses the low and sleek profile of the car, with large, easy-to-access doors that feature double hinges in order to be able to open them to the maximum in confined spaces, such as tight parking lots or garages. The glass in the doors has been harmonized into a teardrop-like shape, the B-pillars being coated in a dark colour in order to minimize their role in breaking up the glass surface. The wing mirrors are aerodynamically shaped and have been kept relatively small to reduce their influence on the design, while the mirror surface has been optimized, to make sure the same amount of mirrored glass is available to the driver. The door handles are chromed and add to the classy appearance of the vehicle.

Image
Monteluci Duca 2008, Rear. 18" Veloce Wheels

The rear side of the vehicle is characterized by the C-shaped symmetric rear lights, which incorporate all the lighting required by law. They are beautifully contained within the boot section, where the Monteluci logo in the top centre makes sure that the car is instantly recognisable as such. Every Duca comes with two exhaust pipes as standard, with one pipe located on either side of the car. Only the SFS will feature four exhaust pipes, divided evenly among the left and right side of the vehicle. An interesting visual trick allows the Diesel-powered models also to have exhaust pipes facing backwards, instead of bending down towards the ground. Designers have still included the straight pipes, of which the last section is not used, as the actual exhaust pipes bend down earlier. This makes that the diesel-powered models have the same appearance as the petrol models.

In between the exhaust pipes, a rear diffuser has been mounted in order to allow for better air flow and aerodynamics, keeping the vehicle to the ground. Along with other aerodynamic measures and the sleek body, this leads to the exceptionally low drag coefficient of 0.27.

The roof of the vehicle is equipped with one of the largest panorama roofs in the industry today, as standard. The glass covers 80% of the vehicles´ roof, with roof reinforcements guaranteeing safety in essential places. The glass of the roof, is double glazed, leading to less wind noise, better thermal efficiency and even more protection and vehicle safety. Furthermore, the roof can open in two sections, allowing sun and wind to flow into the vehicle, making it a joy to drive with the panorama roof open. The glass can be covered with electrically operable sunblinds, that can be operated in several sections in order to allow individual passengers to expose or protect their seats to the sun.

In the interior, the Duca features a dashboard that faces the driver and offers a good overview of all essential instruments and equipment. The driver will feel as if he´s built into the car, and can become one with it, thus further increasing the sports feeling of the vehicle. The interior is richly decorated with cloth or leather, depending on the model chosen, and makes no use of plastics, but rather hemp-based natural materials, that increase the quality feeling. The top of the dashboard is surfaced with leather or alcantara, depending on the wishes of the customer, giving it a soft touch, especially due to the added filling materials below the surface. The surface of the dashboard can be decorated with real wood veneer or a titanium metal surface. The seats are upholstered with the best materials possible, depending on the requirements of the customers with cloth, an alcantara-leather combination or full leather seats. The seats are electrically operable in eight different ways, and can have a memory option that allows the driver to memorise his preference; as soon as he enters the vehicle with his own key, the seat will be set to his preferences. It even is possible to organize this for all other seats to. Furthermore, the seats include heating and ventilation systems that allow the driver and his passengers to maintain these seats at the right temperature.

Image
Dashboard detail

The dashboard, meanwhile, is equipped with all necessary instruments, with two large analog dials facing the driver, depicting rev count and speed (either in km/h or a combined mph/kmh scale). Several satellite instruments have been clustered around the main dials, giving information on fuel level, water temperature, oil temperature and turbo pressure (if applicable, otherwise replaced by a chronograph.) A central digital information screen and board computer will give all other relevant information, ranging from time to mileage to fuel efficiency. If necessary, it will also warn the driver for situations in which their attention is required, such as a service warning, temperature, or any vehicle related problems, also depicted by the recognized international icons located in lights above the board computer. All the analog instrument dials (except the board computer) are depicted in their Italian names, adding to the Monteluci spirit in the interior. On the left of the steering wheel (right in a RHD car), a button cluster for several vehicle-related options have been located, such as lights, parking sensors and the Vehicle Dynamic Control.

The steering wheel itself is covered in leather, and has several buttons on the three-spoke steering wheel as standard, allowing control of the navigation system and bluetooth carkit, for instance. Behind the steering wheel, the usual turn indicator and window wiper stalks are present, as well as a stalk for control of the adaptive cruise control system, which can be set with the help of the board computer. If a customer opts for the optional semi-automatic gearbox, a set of chromed shifting paddles are also located behind the wheel, with the right paddle being used to shift up and the left paddle to shift down.

The rest of the dashboard has a lay-out that is ergonomic but stylish, as one would expect from a Monteluci. The harddisk navigation system is located in a central position, integrated in the console. If necessary, a dealership can remove the navigation system, revealing a 2 DIN mounting bracket for other entertainment systems. Below the navigation system is the climate control system, that makes use of very small LED-backlit LCD screens. Analog buttons are used to choose the desired interior temperature, while the actual temperature is shown by the LCD screens. There is a total of three different climate zones, being the driver, front passenger and rear seat. If necessary, the driver can set the climate control to recirculation, to manual temperature control, or control the various heating options, such as for the front windshield or the rear window (including the mirrors). Below the climate control unit, the dashboard slowly curves to change into the center console, where the gear lever for either the manual or semi-automatic transmission is to be found. They both use the same lever model, with a locking mechanism for the reverse gear, consisting of a ring that has to be lifted in order to be able to switch to reverse gear, or, for the semi-automatic gearbox, to any other transmission mode.

On the centre console, the button for the warning lights is given a prominent place. Around the transmission, several buttons for the suspension settings (if applicable) have been placed, as well as the buttons to set various other options, such as the automatic parking option, voice control and the 4D four-wheel drive system. An electronic parking brake is also provide here. Before the centre console turns into a spacious storage compartment, two cup holders have been located, each with a heating and cooling system that can be set individually, to allow the driver or passenger to cool or heat their drinks. The same service is provided in the spacious glove compartment on the passenger side of the vehicle, in which a smaller cooled compartment is located. On the front windshield, the rear view mirror is set to float in mid-air, or so it seems due to the amount of glass used in the construction of the Duca. The mirror is electrochromatic, meaning it will automatically darken in response to headlights of other cars, preventing them from blinding the driver. Just above the rear mirror, a system that detects the use of seatbelts is installed, depicting exactly which seat is used and which passenger is wearing his or her seatbelt or not. If a seat is detected as being occupied by a passenger, but the system does not detect the use of a seatbelt, it will give a clearly audible warning signal. Furthermore, control buttons for the electric sunblinds and the operation of the panorama roof have also been installed around the rear view mirror. In general, all buttons in the interior have a luxury appearance, with a small chromed ring around these buttons as a detail.

Image
Unique four-seater appearance

In the back, the Duca offers a unique option for D-segment compact executive saloons; a centre console that extends into the rear passenger compartment, effectively separating the left and right rear passenger seat, making the Duca a four-seat car. These individual rear seats offer the same options as the front passenger seat, including heating and ventilation and eight-fold electrical operation. The center console offers a small storage compartment, as well as a small refridgerator. Furthermore, it is equipped with an individual climate control screen for the rear passengers, allowing them to set their own temperature. As an option, a rear-seat entertainment pack with two 8-inch LCD screens can also be installed in the vehicle, allowing them to be used to play DVD’s or Bluray movies from the entertainment system, or play music from the hard drive.

In the back seat, not only the panorama roof is equipped with sunblinds. Both the side and rear windows can be equipped with electrically operable sunblinds, keeping the sun away from these passengers. The luggage compartment, meanwhile, is spacious enough to accommodate luggage for a holiday, and is upholstered in luxurious but durable cloth. If necessary, the floor of the luggage compartment can be turned around, revealing a practical rubber mat that protects against dirt. Beneath the floor of the boot, the reserve alloy wheel, along with an installation kit has been placed in a special compartment. Large objects can be loaded into the Duca via a so-called skibag, which is available as an option on every 5-seater version of the Duca. The boot lid itself is electrically operable, even from the key of the car or from the drivers position (option).

The SW version of the Duca is even more spacious, offering a full 1450 litres of boot capacity (with the rear seat folded down). It offers all the enjoyment of the saloon version, but that little bit of extra space that owners may need. In a five-seater version of the Duca SW, the rear seats can be folded down in a 60/40 split, folding almost flat into the floor. If necessary, a net can be pulled out of the back of the rear seat, thus effectively separating the luggage compartment and the passenger compartment. As with every other Duca, an electrically operable boot lid is available.

In terms of technology, the vehicle is highly advanced, with several groundbreaking options in this segment. One example are the Monteluci Adaptive Cornering Lights, which use bi-xenon technology and are constructed in such a way that a separate pair of front lights will follow the direction of the wheels, illuminating the road ahead in order to increase road safety by being able to see further into corners. When the indicator light is turned on at slow speeds, a special set of LEDs will illuminate the side of the road, allowing to see the surroundings better, and being able to spot objects or persons next to the vehicle earlier at dark intersections.

Monteluci Parcheggio Automatizzato is an automated parking system. When switched on, special cameras will automatically scan the sides of the vehicle for a suitable parking spot, large enough to accommodate the Duca. If it has found a suitable parking spot, it will warn the driver of its result and show the possibilities. The driver will then only have to confirm the desired location, and the vehicle will be able to park itself in the designated spot automatically; the driver is only required to use his brake to control the vehicle as it parks automatically. The driver can oversee the parking process by the many cameras that are located in the Duca’s body. If the MPA system is not chosen as an option, the driver will receive front and rear parking sensors as standard, with a 360-degree bird-eye view of the vehicle through the use of the various cameras.

The Duca features technology to keep your car without dents and scratches, as well. The soft-close doors prevent passengers from slamming the door to hard, as it will slow down the door to gradually closing the last few millimeters of the door by itself, preventing paint or bodywork damage because of slamming doors. Furthermore, with the high-quality paint process for every Monteluci, the Duca has three coats of metallic paint, as well as no less than three layers of protective varnish, all over the car. This gives the car a deep shine, but will also protect your vehicle against scratches, as the extensive varnish protection will prevent scratches from reaching the actual paint, making it easier to polish these scratches away.

A light pack is available for Duca customers as an option: this offers white LED lights in the wing mirrors and hidden in the door handles, that provide extra light when getting out of the car. Inside the interior, extra low-intensity LED lights provide a good driving atmosphere, as they do not obstruct the driver in the dark, but provide some lighting to the passengers, while also illuminating good examples of the craftsmanship in a Monteluci. A further option is the pre-heating system, that can be integrated on the key of the car. By pressing this button, heating elements in the car will prepare the oil of the vehicle to driving temperature, and heat or cool the interior to a preset temperature, while also de-icing the windows and mirrors, if deemed necessary by the system, judging by the exterior temperature.

The Monteluci Adaptive Suspension makes use of a semi-active valve-actuated system that can control the flow of the hydraulic fluid in the shock absorber, thus altering the dampening characteristics of the suspension system. A controlling computer is able to send the correct commands based on a complicated algorithm, and thus alter the suspension. The system has three pre-set algorithms, being sport, in which the suspension will be stiffer than normal, safety, in which the computer will try to completely eliminate any sort of body roll or other not allowed movements, or comfort, in which the system will try to even out bumps and make for a smoother ride in general. These systems also affect the safety systems onboard the Duca, allowing more leeway in the ‘Sport’ setting, while severely restricting possibilities in ‘safety’ setting. Next to this, the ‘sport’ setting also controls the steering and throttle response, both of which will become more direct in the ‘sport’ setting. A fourth possibility is to set the system to automatic recognition, in which it compares all incoming data, including those of the drivers’ style and the road conditions, to adapt to the environment.
If the adaptive suspension is too expensive for a certain customer, he or she can also opt for the sports suspension, which offers a stiffer suspension set-up than normal, allowing for more sportive driving. The vehicle will be lower to the ground (lowered by 20 mm), and will thus also have a more sporty appearance.

A 6-speed semi-automatic gearbox is available on every Duca as an option, while being equipped with a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard. The semi-automatic gearbox is an in-house development that robotizes the manual operation of the gearbox, and can shift up in extremely short moments of up to 61 ms in sport mode, revolutionary for a gearbox with a single dry clutch. Shifting can take place by using the paddles behind the wheel (which is preferred due to the superior gear changing times), or by using the gear lever on the center console. If necessary, the gearbox can also be set to full automatic mode, in which it will shift autonomously. The sport and automatic modes can be engaged at the same time, to allow the driver to drive quickly without having to mind shifting gears. The gearbox, manual or semi-automatic, are located just before the rear axle, thus making the vehicle of a transaxle design, guaranteeing perfect weight distribution over the whole range. As with all current Montelucis, the Duca transfers its power to the road by using the rear wheels.

As an option, the front wheels can also be powered by the 4D four-wheel drive system. It makes use of a differential in the transmission, which is located close to the rear wheels, in order to transmit power back to the front wheels. In a normal driving situation, all power will be sent to the rear wheels, but in demanding situations or when the rear wheels lose grip, up to 40% of the power is sent to the front wheels. This is done automatically, but can also be done manually, through a selection option in the on-board computer. Every Duca comes with an electronically operated Limited slip differential as standard, allowing the vehicle to control the amount of power going to each wheel.

Inside the vehicle there are further interesting options, such as the Adaptive Cruise Control. This system allowed the driver to set his speed and keep this speed without having to touch the throttle, as with any regular cruise control system, but when a vehicle is detected by the front-mounted radar system, it will automatically keep a preset distance, depending on the speed of the vehicle, adapting to the speed of the car in front of it. As soon as the road is clear again, the system will accelerate to the speed that had been previously set. This is especially useful in heavy traffic, in which the Monteluci allows for more relaxed driving.

Another innovation is the Head-Up Display (HUD) provided for the Duca. This system projects the speed and current rev count on the front windshield, allowing the driver to keep his eyes on the road while checking the car’s vital information. Further projectable details include an abbreviated version of the board computer, as well as navigation instructions. The windshield itself is equipped with a heated windscreen wiper area, preventing the wipers from freezing to the window. Further standard equipment includes a toll-collection zone area above the rear view mirror where the IR-reflecting layer has been removed. A Blind Spot Monitor is able to monitor traffic or moving objects in the cars’ blind spots, automatically warning the driver by a light signal if something is moving in his blind spot.

Entertainment system

The entertainment system in the Duca is one of the best systems currently on the market. It features a BOSE audio system with 8 different speakers, an 80 GB hard drive that will store the navigation information and thousands of songs you like, while new songs can also be downloaded through a connected WiFi network or via a smartphone with 3G internet access. For those that prefer to use CD’s, a 10-cd changer is located in the boot section, while videos and movies can be watched on the screen while standing still. For this cause, a Bluray/DVD player functionality has been added. If the rear-seat entertainment package, consisting of two 8-inch headrest screens, is ordered, it is possible to watch movies in the back seat while the car is moving.

The Duca is further equipped with IKOS, which means Independent Key Operation System. This system is known as keyless-go to other manufacturers, and makes it possible to open and start the car while keeping the key in your pocket. In order to increase anti-theft safety, the IKOS system has a very limited effectivity area, and the car will automatically shut the doors and turn off the engine as soon as the key disappears from the effective system range, thus reducing the chance of carjacking or vehicle theft. Other anti-theft measures are a standard immobilizer, with an alarm system that supports GPS tracking. Furthermore, the driver is required to enter a personal access code (PAC) to the vehicle in order to be able to start it. This option can be switched off by the dealership, if necessary.

In terms of safety, the Duca is equipped with a visibility pack that can sense light and rain. Therefore, it will automatically turn on the lights of the vehicle when it has become sufficiently dark, and it will even activate high beam lights when it deems it safe enough to use them. It will also deactivate these high beam lights as soon as a car is detected by the sensor, or if enough light is present around the vehicle. The rain sensor, meanwhile, can sense rain and will automatically turn on the wipers, and even increase their speed if the wipers can no longer handle the amount of rain at the current speed. Because the Duca comes with Bi-Xenon headlights, a headlight washer system is present. This system will activate as soon as the windscreen washer system is also activated.

The Fire Prevention System is able to detect fire and smoke in the engine compartment, after which it will produce an audible warning sound, asking the driver to immediately stop his vehicle. As soon as the vehicle has come to a complete stop, the FPS’ small onboard fire extinguisher will activate, spraying non-damaging foam into the engine compartment in an attempt to extinguish the flames and limit the damage done to the car. The passenger compartment, meanwhile, is well-protected through extensive fireproofing between the engine and the passenger compartment.

The Monteluci Duca has obtained no less than a 5-star safety rating from the National Crash test Programme of the Van Luxemburger Federal Traffic Service. This is because of the advanced safety cage that is a part of the basic vehicle architecture, while a battery of airbags increase safety, with the use of curtain airbags, side airbags and knee airbags for driver and passengers, among others.

The Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) system is used in all Montelucis and combines the ABS and ESP options, but leaves some space for the driver and his experience to correct his mistakes and thus allows for some more sporty driving than other ABS/ESP systems. However, the VDC system will act immediately when a loss of driver control is imminent. With this division between controlled fun and instant safety, the VDC system is one of the more sophisticated assistance systems on the market today.

Technical construction

The ‘Flora’ platform of the Monteluci Duca is built almost entirely out of aluminum, with only several body parts being made out of regular high-grade sheet metal. These metal parts go through an extensive KTL treatment, hence why Monteluci gives a lifetime no-rust guarantee on this car. Paint treatment is of extremely high quality, with 3 layers of paint and 3 layers of varnish. Due to the vehicle having been constructed largely out of aluminum, the vehicle weighs from 1350-1490 kg. The total length of the vehicle is 4,572 mm, with a wheelbase of 2,810 mm and a width of 1,910 mm. The height is variable for many models, but floats around 1,420 mm. Track width is 1,606 mm for the front wheels and 1,610 mm for the rear wheels.

The vehicle is rear-wheel driven and has a longitudinally-mounted engine, while the gearbox is located just in front of the rear axle, thus making the vehicle a transaxle car. The engine compartment has been extensively soundproofed and will deliver maximum levels of comfort and joy to the passengers.

The suspension, meanwhile, is of the multilink type in the rear, while the front suspension of the car consists of independent McPherson struts. Both the front and rear are equipped with anti-roll bars, while a strut tower brace increases the rigidity of the vehicle in the front. Brakes all across the range are 300 mm large ventilated discs for the basic models, while 6-cylinder models are equipped with 330mm ventilated discs all-round. The V8 SFS model is equipped with 380mm ventilated disc brakes all-round.

Engines

1.8

The entrant for the Duca is a naturally aspirated, all-aluminium 1792cc engine, with four cylinders and 16 valves, producing a grand total of 150 horsepower at 7,100 rpm. The engine has double overhead camshafts and direct fuel injection, making it one of the most effective naturally aspirated petrol engines today. Together with a torque of 190 Nm at 5,000 rpm, the engine will be able to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 9 seconds, while a top speed of 214 km/h is possible. The average fuel consumption is 6,3l/100km

1.8 Biturbo

The turbocharged petrol engine range starts with the all-aluminium 1792 cc Biturbo engine, delivering 190 PS at 5,500 rpm. The 4-cylinder, 16 valve engine makes use of double overhead camshafts and direct fuel injection, along with a system named ‘Biturbo’ by Monteluci; a smaller and a larger turbocharger make sure power is always distributed evenly across the rpm range, thus eliminating turbo lag. This also makes for torque to be available relatively early, 270 Nm at 2,100 rpm. The vehicle is capable of doing 228 km/h, with an acceleration from 0-100 km/h of 8.4 seconds and an average fuel consumption of 6.9l/100km.

2.0 Turbo

This 1,997 cc four-cylinder, 16 valve engine is equipped with the same basic specification as the other Monteluci engines; DOHC and direct fuel injection. Equipped with a single turbocharger, it can produce 260 PS at 5,900 rpm and 308 Nm at 1,905 rpm. Acceleration takes place in 7 seconds and allows for a top speed of 245 km/h. The average fuel consumption is 8,8 litres.

3.2 V6

This naturally-aspirated six-cylinder engine has a displacement of 3,177 cc. It is made entirely out of aluminium and has double overhead camshafts, while having four valves per cylinder and thus 24 valves total. Developing 265 PS at 6,900 rpm and 320 Nm at 4,100 rpm, this engine makes the Duca accelerate from 0-100 in 6.6 seconds and reach a top speed of 252 km/h. The combined fuel consumption is 9.3l/100km.

3.2 V6 Biturbo

The Biturbo version of the Monteluci V6 can develop 345 PS at 6.200 rpm, with a maximum torque of 435 Nm at 2,100 rpm. This allows for a total effective top speed of 281 km/h and an acceleration of 5.7 seconds. The direct fuel injection engine consumes 10.2l/100km.

1.2 BMD Ecodrive

BMD is the name Monteluci gives to its family of twin-turbocharged Common-rail Turbodiesel engines. The BMD technology, using two turbochargers on a common-rail Turbodiesel engine, was developed for the Monteluci Duca in 2005, in order to break the 100 horsepower per litre barrier for Diesel engines. It makes use of one relatively small turbocharger, that can deliver power under low engine revolutions. As soon as the engine reaches above 3000 rpm, a second, larger turbocharger will take over, and nearing the maximum rev count, both turbochargers will jointly feed air to the engine. This results in a very high efficiency level and power across the entire range. This particular 1.2-litre diesel engine is one of the most fuel efficient in the world, and offers 120 PS at 3,200 rpm and 250 Nm of torque at 1.800 rpm. A top speed and an acceleration of 201 km/h and 10.2 seconds respectively may not be that impressive, but the combined fuel efficiency is 4,55 l/100 km or 1 litre per 22 km, a minimal amount of fuel for maximal enjoyment. To achieve this, Monteluci has not only changed the engine, but also increased streamlining and aerodynamics, lowered the car by a further 20mm, made the car lighter and created an ‘eco’ setting for all onboard technology. If the equipment is not used, it will automatically turn off and save fuel. Shifting indicators will show the driver when to shift up or down, to improve fuel economy.

1.8 BMD

The same technology in a larger engine; the 1800cc BMD engine develops 180 PS at 3.600 rpm and 355 Nm at 1950 rpm. This allows for a 0/100 acceleration of 8.7 seconds and an effective top speed of 226 km/h. A fuel consumption of 5.5l/100 km proves that diesel is one of the most fuel efficient solutions today.

2.0 BMD 210

A larger version of the 1.8 BMD engine is the 2-litre 210 PS BMD engine. Developing the maximum power at 3,650 rpm and its maximum torque of 411 Nm at 1,900 rpm, allows it to accelerate from 0-100 in 7.4 seconds and to reach a top speed of 237 km/h. The fuel consumption in the combined cycle is 5.7 l/100km

2.4 5C BMD

Very rare nowadays is the 5-cylinder engine, but Monteluci has chosen the excellent characteristics and interesting sound of the 5C to produce one of their best diesel powerplants; 260 PS at 3,950 rpm and 500 Nm at 1,900 rpm. This leads to an effective top speed of 248 km/h, an acceleration of 6.1 seconds and a combined fuel efficiency of 5.9l/100km.

3.2 V6 BMD

The top-of-the-range Diesel engine of Monteluci produces 310 PS at 4,000 rpm and 620 Nm at 1,900 rpm. This leads to an acceleration of 6.4 seconds and a top speed of 261 km/h. The combined fuel consumption is 7.8l/100km

SFS

Monteluci has a long history with the SFS brand, Squadra Forze Sportive produces the best vehicles at the best quality. They are the fastest and raciest of them all, pure beasts hidden inside a modest saloon or estate car. The Duca SFS has been equipped with a large V8 engine, measuring 4,244 cc. This engine, a classic in the Monteluci world, has been seriously updated in order for it to produce 450 PS at 7,000 rpm. A torque of 460 Nm at 4250 rpm allows an acceleration of 0-100 km/h in 5 seconds. The effective top speed of this car is 310 km/h, making it the fastest Duca currently available.

However, this is not all. The SFS comes standard with a stiffer version of the adaptive suspension system, while the vehicle has already been lowered by 20mm. The 19 inch wheels fill up the wheelarches, while the open alloys reveal the massive 380mm ventilated brake discs. An extra bodykit underlines the added racing pedigree of this vehicle, and also provides downforce at high speeds. This kit includes a lower front bumper with extra cooling slots, wider wheelarches in order to accommodate the 19 inch wheels with their wider track, side skirts and a rear bumper that is sculpted more than the normal bumper. The SFS has four exhausts that produce a mighty 8-cylinder roar, with butterfly valves that open above 4,000 rpm in order to make the driver enjoy his sound even more. A small boot lid spoiler provides additional downforce for this vehicle.

In the interior, the SFS features new one-piece tight sport seats, upholstered in a leather-alcantara mix. The steering wheel is also made out of a leather/alcantara mix, in which the alcantara sections are predominantly those that the driver holds on to. The decoration strips are now made out of carbon fibre, instead of the regular options, and metal sport pedals have been installed. SFS logos embroidered in the seats and in the passenger side of the dashboard remind the occupants of the fact that they are travelling with one of the most expensive and exclusive Ducas ever.
SFS Aerodynamics package

For other models, Monteluci offers the SFS aerodynamics package. This package adds the bodykit of the SFS model to any Duca, with the exception of the boot lid spoiler and the exhaust pipes. In the interior, the SFS package does not have the SFS stitching, nor does it have the exclusive sport seats as offered in the original car. Nevertheless, it is a good way to personalize your Monteluci, and offers many different configuration possibilities.
Construction

The Monteluci Duca is built in Venezia and Lesignano De’Bagni, both in Van Luxemburg. To guarantee the quality of our vehicles, we have instated rigid quality controls. Monteluci Duca Pantera: Law enforcement at its best

Image
-Placeholder for a drawing of an actual Autobahnpolizei Duca Pantera-

In early 2009, the Autobahnpolizei in Arvaglio faced a tough problem: The Duca V8 SFS’es of the previous model that were in use until then almost reached a mileage of 200,000 kilometres, and the officers that operated them generally preferred the Autobahnpolizei to buy new Duca’s. However, the demands of the officers did not quite meet the equipment delivered on a standard Duca SFS, and the custom modification of the vehicles would be very expensive. Therefore, the local Polizia Autostradale authority in Arvaglio approached the Monteluci factories and asked if they were able to create a special Duca for their police forces. Monteluci was only too happy to oblige, and the result was the Duca Pantera.

Monteluci has a longstanding relation with the Arvaglian Polizia Autostradale. The first Monteluci’s were delivered to the Autobahnpolizei around 80 years ago, and the brand has never been absent in the equipment lists of the motorway police units since then. In recent years, the high performance Duca V8 SFS was used as the regular patrol vehicle of the Autobahnpolizei, and other Duca models enjoyed considerable popularity amongst other police units.

Firstly, the development team, consisting of several representatives of Monteluci, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Autobahnpolizei, asked police officers all across the nation about their opinion on their current police vehicle. With the results of the questionnaire, the development team went to work, to develop the Duca Pantera. This vehicle was made specifically with the Van Luxemburger law enforcement market in mind. It has been designed with the Sportwagon version of the Duca in mind.

First, Monteluci made several performance upgrades, firstly by installing the mass-produced ceramic brakes of the Ducareale on the Duca. Ceramic brakes have a very high heat resistance, a low weight and low maintenance requirements, meaning it is a relatively cost-efficient solution over the brakes mounted on the standard Duca, and enhances safety on longer emergency runs.

Furthermore, the engineers modified the suspension, springs and shocks to maintain a certain level of toughness, but also be resistant to bad roads and the heavy beatings of everyday police use. The suspension can be temporarily raised by 5 cm’s, in order to reach locations that are off-road, and the Pantera has also been modified with 4D 4-wheel drive, that will increase safety and off-road capabilities. Also, to enhance drivability, a 6-speed semi-automatic gearbox has been installed, so the driver can switch between manual gearshifts and fully automatic mode.

In terms of electronics, Monteluci has contracts with Walter Technologie to supply night vision technology for the Head-Up Display, which can also display speed, rev counter, navigation instructions and an overview of the vehicle’s current assignment. Next to this, the vehicle GPS is able to continually transmit it’s location to the dispatcher’s office, and can give off an emergency alarm in case the vehicle is under attack or in trouble. Furthermore, the navigation system has been connected to the dispatcher’s office, so that every assignment is automatically loaded into the system to navigate towards the intervention. The car also has two video cameras on-board (one placed front-facing on the dashboard, one placed rear-facing behind the boot lid window. These cameras are linked to a 1TB hard drive to record actual footage, but also to the dispatcher’s office in order to let the dispatcher assess the current situation.

For traffic enforcement, these cameras are also equipped with Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) hardware, that can recognise license plates and relay them to a laptop that is to be operated by the passenger, but also with speed measuring equipment that can measure the speed and distance travelled between two points. The laptop is also linked up to the internet, and also the police database, while it can also track stolen vehicles with GPS trackers. If necessary, the GPS tracker data can also be entered in the navigation system, so that the driver can follow the stolen car with directions coming from his navigation system.

The Pantera has an impressive array of ‘Blues and Twos’ for emergency runs, starting with a low-profile LED lightbar by Pabst Fire Technologies, which can emit both blue and orange lights, but also has a built-in searchlight and a LED Matrix which can show the words ‘STOP – POLICE’, or other instructions, if necessary (this can include ‘POLICE – FOLLOW’, ‘ACCIDENT’ ‘<<<<<’, ‘>>>>>’, ‘STAU – TRAFFIC’, ‘KEEP DISTANCE’, ‘KEEP RIGHT’ or a customisable message.) No less than 13 LED flashers have been mounted on various position outside the vehicle, including two in the grill, two next to the foglights, two in the wing mirrors (facing front), one on the dashboard, two in the upper windshield area, two at the back of the vehicle (boot lid window) and two in the boot lid bottom. The front lights also feature a wig-wag function. Furthermore, a siren has been installed behind the grille, with four smaller loudspeakers being mounted under the lightbar (two facing front, two facing rear). They can output a maximum of 130 Db of sound. Sirens available are the wail/yelp (US), hi/lo (US), two-tone (EU), three-tone (EU), Martinshorn (D) and multiple others. In Van Luxemburger practice, the EU Two-tone/Martinshorn is used. All buttons necessary for the Pantera version have been integrated in the Duca’s dashboard in the same style as the original buttons.

In terms of communication, the Pantera has two handheld transceivers aboard that can be used by its occupants. They are linked to the car’s radio, which has a VHF antenna mounted. All radio traffic is encrypted in 256-bit Advanced Encryption Standard. Every car has a ‘panic’ button, which the occupant can push to receive assistance from units in their vicinity. For practical requirements, the seats of the vehicle have been modified slightly in order to allow the average police officer to wear his belt (including holster, handcuffs, transceiver, etc.) A section of the boot has been reserved for a firearm vault, which can hold submachine guns or weapons of similar size. A suspect transport enclosure, made out of Acrylic glass (PMMA), will protect the officers against aggressive suspects, and will prevent suspects from spitting at the officers. The same has been done behind the rear seat, to prevent the suspect from reaching the luggage space. In that luggage space, the Pantera has space to store the standard police equipment (e.g. a first aid kit, a broom, a shovel, traffic cones, blankets, radar (radar gun/speed gun), and a breath examination system), as well as an AED (Automated External Defibrillator). A tire deflation device (Stinger) is also part of the standard equipment.

To provide extra safety to the police officers during high-risk patrols, the vehicle has been slightly uparmoured, mainly the glass and front doors. The windows have been made out of two layers of aluminium oxynitride, with a 5mm thick epoxy layer to prevent the window from shattering. This will protect the occupants against 9x19mm gunfire and will severely slow down 7.62x39mm gunfire. In the doors, Two armoured plates have been installed. The Front plate is made out of 2.5mm WTVA (Wolfram-Titanium Vehicle Alloy) 23. The gap between the two plates is 5mm. Then, the Back-plate is made out of hardened, rubber-encased, perforated ceramic plate (8mm thickness) with an epoxy-coated kevlar spall backing (2mm). In total, the armour is 17.5mm thick and should theoretically protect against 7.62x39mm gunfire from a distance of 100 metres. The weight of this armouring is around 100 kilograms per door. Furthermore, the radiator has been reinforced to be protected against gunfire, a self-sealing fuel tank has been installed and the vehicles stand on runflat tyres.

To make sure the vehicle can maintain it’s speed with the added weight of all new police equipment, Monteluci’s SFS department was put to work on the Duca’s engines, and has modified these engines with new performance air filters, a new performance exhaust, an ECU remap and tweaks to the turbochargers (if applicable). The SFS team has measured power increases of around 15-40 horsepower all across the line, meaning the vehicles can keep their previous performance. For engine specifications, please refer to the Monteluci Duca sales brochure.

Next to the engine modifications, several other changes have been made under the hood: The Duca is equipped with a more powerful alternator and a second battery, that will provide electricity to all auxiliary extras, the radiator and gearbox cooling have been increased in capacity, and the vehicle can run stationary without the key in the ignition (runlock module), so the vehicle can charge it’s batteries while on scene. Inside the vehicle, most of the options have been retained, save for the panorama roof and rear sunblinds. The leather upholstery has been kept, because of the fact that leather is often easier to clean and maintain than regular cloth upholstery.

Despite the fact that the Pantera has many new technologies implemented, the extra price for such a police version is just $7500 over the standard price of a vehicle: this is mainly due to the industrial scale the vehicle is produced on, but also the fact that Monteluci has cut their profits on this vehicle to nearly zero, to provide a better deal for the beloved Autobahnpolizei. The first Panteras will be delivered in May 2009.

The Duca Pantera is available for (limited) foreign export. Monteluci, in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Van Luxemburger Intelligence and Security Service (IVD), will decide on the sale of these highly sophisticated law enforcement vehicles on a case-by-case basis. Nations who are known to the IVD as having an unfavourable government, a negative civil rights record or other conditions that could affect sales of law enforcement equipment, will be refused the sale of these vehicles.

VENEZIA – Monteluci presents the Ducareale. The luxury sports saloon can compete with the finest of cars that are currently in production throughout the world: It will join the illustrious line of luxury vehicles Monteluci has produced in it’s 101-year history. Passione per gli Automobili in the best way.

Following the recent success of the D-segment Duca, Monteluci was faced with the task to develop a new automobile, nicknamed ‘Progetto Minerva’. It would be a luxury machine, combined with the sportive aspirations that make the Duca. No less than 5 new engines were developed, including one ecologically-sound EcoDrive version. The top-of-the-range V12 SFS will have a world-first: Mass-produced carbon-ceramic brakes will be standard on this vehicle. Next to this, a revolutionary suspension system will be standard on the Ducareale. Once again, an armoured VIP version will become available, especially suited for heads of state and captains of industry around the world.

Revolutionary suspension system

The Ducareale called for the design of a completely new platform, which was designed with top-of-the-line sportivity and unparalleled comfort in mind. Soon, Monteluci engineers realised the current suspension systems were unsatisfactory for the Ducareale. Sospensione Elettromagnetici Versione 1(Short: SEM1) was the result of this: It uses the traditional shock-and-spring setup, but the engineers added a Linear Electromagnetic Motor (Motore Lineare Elettromagnetici), which can extend and compress at much greater speed than conventional fluid-based dampers, since they are not limited to the natural inertia of these dampers. This whole system is supplied by an amplifier, which regenerates power from each time the suspension compresses. This makes the system tremendously power efficient, and makes driving both comfortable and sportive, by rapid reactions made to counter bumps and holes in the road surface. This keeps the vehicle completely straight and stable at all times, up to the level the individual owner desires.

The advantage of this computerised system is not only the rapid reaction to the road surface: the system can be programmed to the individual needs of the customer, if required. This can be done by every official Monteluci dealership, simply by modifying several parameters with a special computer system. The system can be used to match several suspension setups used by cars all around the world, ranging from the Lotus Elise to the Rolls-Royce Phantom. In the unlikely case the system would fail, it can return to a default suspension setting.

New engines: the heart renewed

For the Ducareale, Monteluci developed no less than 5 new engines for the demanding customer. The car is available with 4 Petrol engines and 3 Diesel-powered ones, ranging in power from 180 PS to a staggering 650 PS.

The EcoDrive version is powered by the 1.8 BMD engine known from the Duca, delivering 180 horsepower. With several adaptations, such as increased streamlining, lowering and lightening the car, and has an ‘eco’ equipment setting like on the Duca EcoDrive. With these modifications, it will only consume 1 litre of diesel fuel per 19 kilometres, which is unheard of for vehicles of this size.

Furthermore, Monteluci offers an atmospheric 4-litre V8 petrol engine, known from the Duca SFS, developing 400 horsepower. A 4.7 V8 is also offered, being a modified 4-litre engine, now developing 470 PS. The same engine has been equipped with the highly advanced Biturbo technology from the Duca, boosting power up to 550 PS.

Next to this, the Ducareale has two other diesel-fuelled engines, being a 4-litre V8 diesel engine developing 390 horsepower, and the top-of-the-range Diesel, the 5.2-litre V10 engine producing a massive 510 horsepower.

However, the top-of-the-range model is the V12 SFS, a 6.5-litre beast already known from the Lepanto supercars, delivering a staggering 650 horsepower to the rear wheels. Carbon-ceramic brakes are standard on the SFS, and the car has been lowered to reduce drag. Furthermore, a small deployable spoiler has been added for extra downforce, and a subtle bodykit underlines the sportivity of this vehicle.

Standard equipment

The Ducareale is one of the most complete vehicles available on the F-segment market, coming standard with a satellite navigation system, including a 3D view parking camera that can park automatically, if required. Next to this, it has a radar-controlled adaptive cruise control, that can operate even in traffic jams, furthermore, it has a Rear Seat Entertainment System with a 10 inch monitor being centrally positioned inbetween the front seats. A large panorama sunroof covers some 80% of the roof, and can be made darker and lighter through an electro chromatic system, which is also used in the car’s mirrors. The rear passengers are blessed with heated and ventilated massage seats, like the front passengers, but can also make use of their own climate control, block out sunlight by window blinds on the rear window and the rear side windows (all electronic), and use pull-down tables to be able to do business while underway (a standard 220V converter is included for the rear passenger seated on the right, Van Luxemburger market only). The rear center console has been equipped with a cooled compartment in which two glasses and a bottle of wine or champagne can be stored. On top of this, another compartment hosts the controls for the electric moving action of the rear two seats, as well as the front passenger seat, allowing the rear seat passengers to set their own legroom.

The passengers all sit on luxurious seats that have been made from the best cows in Van Luxemburg, selected by Monteluci upholstery personnel and living in a field where sharp edges such as barbed wire are completely absent. The center parts of the seats have been made out of punctured quality leather, or, if desired, alcantara center parts. In the back, the boot is spacious and offers around 550 litres of dedicated luggage space, whilst also storing a full spare tire. With the Ducareale, a specially designed luggage set is standard, and was made specifically to exploit the large size and shape of the Ducareale’s luggage compartment.

On the dashboard, no effort has been spared to give the passengers a quality feel. It is covered by high-quality leather that is either coloured in the same tint as the rest of the interior, or dyed in a contrasting colour. The switchgear is made out of real titanium with a chromed decoration ring, and all have only one function: user simplicity. The standard entertainment system aboard the Ducareale is made up out of a single 7 inch touchscreen, with buttons that allow for quick access to certain areas of interest, such as the CD/DVD/Bluray player, radio, car settings or the navigation system. The system makes use of icons and graphics to increase simplicity, and the whole system is displayed in 1080p Full High-Definition, including the car settings and the navigation system. The audio system was supplied by Mark Levinson, and uses an array of several speakers to generate a fantastic sound, unrivalled in the market today. Next to this, the system has a hard drive of 500 gigabytes, allowing the owner to store his favourite music in MP3 format on the car’s hard drive. Interior decoration on the dashboard and doors comes in several exclusive wood, metal and composite material sorts, suitable to everyone’s tastes. As standard, the Ducareale comes with silver interior decorations.

The Ducareale is equipped with an electric handbrake, that can automatically engage as the vehicle is parked, and will disengage if the driver presses the accelerator pedal.

Meanwhile, the drivers’ cockpit is well-equipped with a heated and ventilated steering wheel finished in leather, that also houses controls for various systems in the car, including the adaptive cruise control and the onboard entertainment. A small colour information screen in the instrument cluster carries standard board computer information, while also allowing the driver to display the latest instructions from the navigation system, or the MP3 he is currently playing. Next to this, the Ducareale sports a Night Vision system with Head-up Display, that is also able to display speed and rev counter, as well as navigation instructions. This allows the driver to keep his eyes focused on the road, while also being able to check vital information. The rest of the instrument cluster uses a fairly conventional lay-out, with descriptions in Italian, analogue speed and rev counters, as well as water (Acqua), Oil (Olio) and fuel (Benzina/Gasolio) meters. These are all made by the famous Swiss company Jaeger-Lecoultre. On the dashboard, above the entertainment system, a central clock and several other meters (Press. Olio, Ampere, Volt, Potenza disponibile) have been placed, the clock being placed above all meters. The center console is slightly driver-oriented, making it perfectly operable.

Technical and Exterior equipment

Not only the SFS now has new technology in the form of carbon-ceramic brakes. All Ducareales are equipped with LED daytime running lights, and bixenon headlamps. These headlamps are adaptive, and can follow the car into a corner, illuminating the road ahead perfectly.

The brakes were made with the help of Brembo, and every Ducareale has 380mm brake discs all-round, with six-piston callipers in a single aluminium block. These provide superior braking power, and with the help of the Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC), ABS and EBD are coordinated in case of emergency. The Ducareale’s weight distribution is near-perfect, and the car uses a transaxle setup, in which the engine is placed behind the front wheels, essentially making the Ducareale a mid-engined car. A 48% front and 52% rear weight distribution is the result of this.

Electronic Power steering makes the steering precise and direct, and it takes only 2 360 degree steering wheel turns to go from the front wheels pointing extreme right to pointing extreme left. A special ‘city’ option is integrated, and can be activated at the push of a button: it makes the car extremely light to manoeuvre, and easy to handle in cities. A seven-speed semi-automatic gearbox, an in-house development of the company, is hooked up to the car’s engine as standard, and can be operated in manual (using the stick to shift up and down), semi-automatic (using the + and - flippers behind the steering wheel), or fully automatic mode (no actions required). Settings for special circumstances (Grip, for a more active Vehicle Dynamic Control, or F1, for a more sportive feel to the vehicle.)

The Ducareale comes standard with 19” wheels, ‘Veloce’ bi-spoke style. An option is the 20” ‘Moiano’ wheel style, offering both a classy and sportive look to your Ducareale. The car is also equipped with a keyless-go system, in which the driver can approach the vehicle with the key in his pocket, open the door without pressing the ‘open’ button on the key, and then press the starter button to unleash the full force of the Monteluci engine.
On the outside, Monteluci stylists have also added several chromed details, to underline the classy appearance of the vehicle. These include the door handles and the window surrounds. The mirrors are made out of carbon fibre, to make them extremely light. Next to this, they can be heated and folded electrically, to aid in the comfort the driver enjoys. The rear lights are equipped with LEDs as standard, to increase safety both at night and at day,

Safety

The Ducareale is a remarkably safe car, and has a true range of airbags safeguarding the driver and his passengers, including front and side airbags for the rear passengers. The Ducareale also has a bonnet made out of soft materials, and lifts up several centimeters upon collision with a pedestrian. A small airbag deploys from under the bonnet, making the impact safer for the pedestrian. Other safety amenities include ISOFIX attachment points for child safety seats in the rear seats and the front passenger seat, a front headlight washer system using high-pressure cleaning jets, and light and rain sensors that automatically activate the lighting and wipers respectively. A blind spot monitor (BSM) is also installed, and monitors movement in the drivers’ blind spot, warning him of possible dangers.

Pricing, Guarantee and availability

The Monteluci Ducareale is conveniently priced at prices starting from $75,000 (excluding local taxes) for an EcoDrive version, while one needs to bring $160,000 to take a Ducareale SFS home. The vehicle is remarkably well-equipped, and only several options are available: a 4D Four wheel Drive system is available at the price of $2,200, the 20” ’Moiano’ wheels are installed under a Ducareale at the cost of $1,500, and a factory pick-up, including a driving course at the Moiano track, being priced at $600 for clients located in the Grand Duchy of Van Luxemburg, and $2000 for international customers, including an airline ticket and a hotel stay in Venezia. Monteluci maintains a 5-year Guarantee period for the Ducareale, regardless of the kilometres driven. 5 years of guarantee is given on the paint, excluding damages made to it by accidents or parking incidents. Furthermore, Monteluci guarantees that the Ducareale will be devoid of corrosion for the coming 15 years.

The Ducareale is available at every local Monteluci dealership, and every dealership should have a demonstration model available. However, seeing that the Ducareale is an expensive and exclusive vehicle, partially handcrafted in the Monteluci factories, the timespan between order and delivery of a vehicle is at least 3 months.

Monteluci Bucintoro Lusso: Revival of the Fittest

Image

Image

‘Lusso’, the name of one of the most well-known types of Monteluci 2+2 coupés, is back. Since 1934, the name has been used by the brand to indicate their most luxurious, but sportive 2-door coupés, bought and utilised by the rich and famous. Bucintoro is the name traditionally given to the state ship of the Venetian Doge, a name which is symbolic for the luxury and quality the automobile will be associated with. Two versions will be available at the model launch: The 3200 Lusso and the 4700 Lusso, both petrol-fueled models, Equipped with a 3.2 litre Biturbo engine (from the Duca) or a 4.7 litre naturally aspirated engine (as available in the Bucintoro). In true Lusso tradition, these engines have received minor performance upgrades, allowing them to put out 350 and 490 PS respectively. This means that even the basic Bucintoro (The 3200 Lusso) is ten times more powerful than the Monteluci Pangea, of 1912, one of the most powerful racing cars of its days.

Sitting on a modified Bucintoro platform, the Bucintoro is a vehicle for people who do not require the space of the Bucintoro and prefer a more sportive automobile, that can compete with f-segment sportscars and luxury coupés. Unlike the Bucintoro, the Bucintoro is equipped with a standard suspension, relying on double wishbones up front, combined with a rear Multilink setup. In practice, all power from the engine is transmitted onto the rear wheels, even though the 4D Four-wheel-Drive system is an option on the 4700. The 3200 is only available with Rear-Wheel-Drive.

In true Lusso style, both cars will receive a lavish interior equipment, with instruments by the known Swiss watchmaking company Jaeger-Lecoultre, with a black background and chrome surrounds, to support the feeling of exclusivity. The rest of the instrument cluster uses a fairly conventional lay-out, with descriptions in Italian, analogue speed and rev counters, as well as water (Acqua), Oil (Olio) and fuel (Benzina/Gasolio) meters. On the dashboard, above the entertainment system, a central clock and several other meters (Press. Olio, Ampere, Volt, Potenza disponibile) have been placed, the clock being placed above all meters. The center console is slightly driver-oriented, making it perfectly operable. Next to this, a multifunctional LCD screen has been mounted in between the instruments, in order to offer increased visibility for the multifunction computer aboard the Monteluci. The LCD screen is supported by a Head-up-Display, which allows the driver to keep his eyes on the road while driving, increasing safety.
The steering wheel, made out of luxurious A-grade leather, is completely multifunctional and can be used to set the sound system, navigation, telephone or the trip computer. Next to this, it features buttons to set the cruise control and HUD. The rest of the dashboard is also made out the same luxurious leather, with contrasting stitching. The seats have not only been made out of leather selected by Monteluci upholstery personnel and living in a field where sharp edges such as barbed wire are completely absent, but also feature alcantara inserts. Furthermore, they are heated and ventilated, and feature full electric adaptivity (including memory slots for up to 5 drivers, either corresponding with the ignition key used, or selectable by numbered buttons on the seat). The system also has a massage option. The rear seats are blessed with the same heating and ventilation systems, as well as the massage settings, and these two seats are separated by a cooled storage compartment (option) that slide open with just a fingertouch. This storage compartment also has the possibility to store up to two champagne flutes, made out of the best Van Luxemburger lead crystal glass. The cooled compartment itself is large enough to store a bottle of high-quality champagne. A bottle of Levallois Champagne is delivered with every new Bucintoro. In the back, the boot is spacious and offers around 500 litres of dedicated luggage space, whilst also storing a full spare tire. With the Bucintoro, a specially designed luggage set is standard, and was made specifically to exploit the large size and shape of the Bucintoro’s luggage compartment.

The touchscreen navigation system inside the Bucintoro is not just a system that can navigate the vehicle from point A to point B, but also functions as an entertainment system. The vehicle features a 1TB hard drive for saving music and movies, a 10-cd changer, radio receivers for AM and FM radio, but also a DVB-T receiver to be able to watch digital TV. The system also has a slot that can facilitate a GPRS or UMTS card, allowing the user to browse the internet. Next to this, up to two SIM-cards can be inserted, allowing the user to make handsfree phone calls.

The Bucintoro is equipped with an electric handbrake, that can automatically engage as the vehicle is parked, and will disengage if the driver presses the accelerator pedal.

Exclusive for the 4700 Lusso, is the panorama sun roof, which extends across the whole roof of the vehicle, and also features a centre section that can be opened electrically. Next to this, it is electro-chromatic, meaning the roof can be made lighter or darker whenever the occupants want to, a system that is also utilised in all mirrors (to prevent the driver from being blinded by cars behind the Bucintoro). The 3200 Lusso is equipped with a sun roof, which can be opened in order to allow light and air to flood in on sunny days. In addition to this, an advanced climate control system with three zones (for the driver, front passenger and the rear seat), is standard on every model, allowing the vehicle to keep its occupants cool at all times, thanks to an increased-capacity airconditioning system.
Next to these features, it has all the standard equipment from the Bucintoro, including the 3D parking system, with automatic parking option. A radar-controlled cruise control system, that can even operate in traffic jams (automatically keeping a set distance from the car in front),

All Bucintoros are equipped with LED daytime running lights, and bixenon headlamps. These headlamps are adaptive, and can follow the car into a corner, illuminating the road ahead perfectly (option). The brakes were made with the help of Brembo, and every Bucintoro has 380mm brake discs all-round, with six-piston callipers in a single aluminium block. These provide superior braking power, and with the help of the Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC), ABS and EBD are coordinated in case of emergency. The Bucintoro’s weight distribution is near-perfect, and the car uses a transaxle setup, in which the engine is placed behind the front wheels, essentially making the Bucintoro a mid-engined car.

The rear lights are equipped with LEDs as standard, to increase safety both at night and at day.

The Bucintoro is a remarkably safe car, and has a true range of airbags safeguarding the driver and his passengers, including front and side airbags for the rear passengers. The Bucintoro also has a bonnet made out of soft materials, and lifts up several centimeters upon collision with a pedestrian.

The Monteluci Bucintoro, which will complement the Ducareale in terms of luxury and will fulfil demands of Ducareale drivers for a more sportive, 2-door coupé version, will be available at a price of $90,000 for the 3200 Lusso. For the top model, the 4700 Lusso, the new owner will need to take $147,000 to his local dealership. Options include a 4D Four-wheel-drive system for the 4700, costing $2,200, and a factory pickup, including a drivers’ training at the Moiano track, at the cost of $600 for Van Luxemburger customers and $2000 for international customers (including airline ticket and hotel). The Bucintoro, like the Ducareale, has 5 years of guarantee, regardless of the kilometres driven. 5 years of guarantee is given on the paint, excluding damages made to it by accidents or parking incidents. Furthermore, Monteluci guarantees that the Bucintoro will be devoid of corrosion for the coming 15 years.

The Bucintoro is available at every local Monteluci dealership, and every dealership should have a demonstration model available. However, seeing that the Bucintoro is an expensive and exclusive vehicle, partially handcrafted in the Monteluci factories, the timespan between order and delivery of a vehicle is at least 3 months.

Dear Sir/Esteemed Highness,

Thank you for your inquiry. We are of course very grateful that you have chosen Automobili Monteluci for your fleet of diplomatic and law enforcement vehicles, and we hope our products will not cease to amaze you in the levels of quality and performance we deliver. The Bucintoro 4700 Lusso models will be manufactured in the Venezia I plant, and we expect to end delivery of the full order of these vehicles in 6 (six) months. The Duca Pantera models will be manufactured in the Lesignano De'Bagni plant, with the final delivery scheduled to be made in 18 (eighteen) months.

Of course, the users of these vehicles can build on the famed Monteluci services provided to owners and users alike.

Both the Bucintoro 4700 Lusso and Ducareale models will be manufactured in the Venezia I plant, and we expect to end delivery of the full order of these vehicles in 6 (six) months. Aforementioned Bucintoros will be delivered with 5 cars each in the colours Grigio Nettuno, Bianco Nordica, Grigio Vela and Blu Nautica, assuming these are the desired colours. The Ducareales will be delivered, 10 cars each, in the colours Bianco Nordica, Grigio Vela and Grigio Nettuno. Should you desire different colours, there is the possibility to change your order until one week before the scheduled production date. The detailed colour option charts can be found here and here for the Bucintoro and Ducareale, respectively.

Assuming you do not desire to make use of any further services or options from the options list available on these vehicles, the total cost will come to $6,276,600 (six million, two hundred seventy-six thousand, six hundred) USD. The total cost may be paid individually upon delivery of each vehicle, or in one lump sum at the final delivery. Automobili Monteluci's sales department holds a bank account with the Monteluci Bank, a fully-owned subsidiary of VLT Group Financial Services NV. Regarding your request for a supercar, due to our cooperation with supercar manufacturer Lepanto within the VLT Group and earlier in the CALM conosrtium, we have closed an agreement that prevents us from building an actual supercar, which is a niche market for Lepanto. We would thus refer you to their current offering, the 650 Moiano, here. Also, according to our records, VLT Automotive already has a distributor in Monte Mare, which means it is safe to assume there is also a Monteluci distributor available in your nation, as well as a dealership network.

We wish you the best of luck with your new products, and hope to welcome you again as a customer!

>Dear Sir,
We fully understand the position of your company regarding a supercar as the Lepanto Moiano already exists in the VLY auto group, we would like to notice that our king has already a unit of it so we wont have to order one. You also have right on the VLT dealerships that we already have, but we were wondering if we could "separate" and make a special dealership for Monteluci vehicles. More specifically we want to place those dealerships in the elite and luxury centers of our nation, such as the Monte Mare city, and Skorpios Bay (Monte Marean Riviera), in order to be closer and be more popular amongst the upper-class. We are very impatient to see the new Monteluci Convertible as well as the other upcoming vehicles and we hope to be as elegant and as beautiful as the other cars in the line up. Finally we would like to congratulate you and donate 8.000.000 Euros to Automobili Monteluci for the quality and the top services they offer, and the King hopes someday on a meeting with sir. Alfredo Monteluci as he really wants to meet him...
Thank you

Dear Sir/Esteemed Highness,

Everywhere around the world, Monteluci and VLT operate in separate dealership networks. The companies are kept separate for the most part, even though local distributors are often located in the same building and some dealerships may be located in the same buildings; the showrooms remain strictly separated. There are of course many individual Monteluci dealerships as well, I could even say that the majority of Monteluci dealerships are wholly independent of any VLT influence.

We hope to launch new Monteluci vehicles at a future date, the Granduca executive saloon probably being the first in line. It is however impossible to predict when such a launch would take place, sadly.

We value your donation to our company, and we hope to invest this money in our employee leisure programmes, a much-needed feature that helps us improve employee satisfaction and thus the quality of our vehicles. Some of the money will also be invested into the factory-sponsored restoration of the Monteluci Tipo 188 currently owned by the Walter family. The 1934 racer used to be the third driveable vehicle (production no. 20) of the Tipo 188 model, next to the one in the Grand-Ducal Collection (production no. 1) and the vehicle exhibited in the Museo Storico d'Automobili Monteluci (production no. 12). Sadly, during a racing exhibition, the Walter-owned vehicle crashed and was heavily damaged, and is now in the process of being restored by our company. It is the second Tipo 188 we are restoring, vehicle no. 13 of the National Automobile Museum in San Giustra is also under our custody, leaving 3 out of 4 Tipo 188's currently known under Monteluci custody for the time being.

I'd be most honoured to receive the King for a meeting in Venezia, Van Luxemburg. I am usually at my office, and a phone call shall suffice in order to arrange a visit, I can most certainly make some time to receive His Royal Highness.

Yours faithfully,
Dr. (SDA) Alfredo Monteluci

>Dear Sir,
The king really appreciates the invitation and he is indeed planning to visit (If possible) get a tour of the factory, meet Mr. Monteluci and if available see some of those elegant antique masterpieces you are going to restore, but that would probably happen in 2 or 3 months as the King is extremely busy till then. We will be expecting future models with a lot of agony, and we would like to ask if you are planning to make any VIP & customer presentation of any new model in an elegant dinner or gala as most of the luxury car manufactors tend to do that. If yes please put the king and some other high-class persons in the list...
Thank you

Dear Mr. Monteluci,
this is the feedback as you requested, and this directly represents the consultancy as a team, not any individual:

Duca - This vehicle is very good. Excellent to own and drive. High levels of equipment, and very well-built. Handling is good, although not as supple as some rivals. The driving experience is pretty much good, and the car is fun to drive. It's spacious, but the Sportwagon is no match for rivals like the Vauxhall/Opel Insignia Estate for space. With regard to the engines, they're a mixed bag - the petrols are good, the V6 being excellent, the V8 not as good as hoped, (but the 1.8 Turbo and 2.0 Biturbo are average) and the BMD turbodiesels are only average compared to rivals.
Ducareale - Very good, rated 6/10 by us. Well-built and excellent to drive. Build quality is excellent, although we found some reliability issues with some cars. Equipment levels are very high, almost as good as BMW or Mercedes. The car handles pretty well, and the driving experience is great, with it being a fine motorway cruiser. It's very spacious inside and legroom is acceptable. Engines are good - the 4.7 V8 is pretty good, but not quite as good as the Hyundai Genesis 4.6 V8. The 4.0 V8 is a fine cruiser though, but the BMD diesels disappoint.
Otherwise, it's a pretty good car.
Bucintoro - Styling is pretty derivative. Needs to be front-wheel-drive and perhaps replace the 3.2 with a V6 engine. The V8 petrol is good though. Too expensive ($147,000/£93,322) and considered inferior in some markets due to the styling and the fact buyers see the Audi R8 and Nissan 370Z as superior. Information is from our customer research.

I apologise if this feedback seems negative but it is open and honest, and I hope it proves of use to you. We have helped other manufacturers as a consultancy firm for the last 18 years and hope to continue on further with this; and we would like to have a meeting as soon as possible with Monteluci.

Dear Sir/Esteemed Highness,

Monteluci models are, as a tradition, always presented during the Van Luxemburger Concours d'Élégance in the gardens of Chateau Bertrange, the Grand-Ducal residence near the capital of Luxembourg. The night before such a presentation is often the scene of what some would call a sneak preview, in which several long-time customers and other guests are welcome to take a look at the new offering first hand. This is also the first opportunity for ordering such a new model; customers signing an order form here are usually the first to receive the new model, around the same moment the first test cars are delivered to the automotive press worldwide.

On this evening, we as Monteluci often make use of the various amenities kindly provided by the Grand Duke of Van Luxemburg, including catering, personnel and security. This is what makes this event unique, as compared to other events, considering the fact we make use of truly royal services at a truly royal location.

Yours faithfully,
Dr. (SDA) Alfredo Monteluci

Dear Sir,

First of all, thank you for your comments. Our development team will analyse them further, but I shall be responsible for giving our first reaction.

Of course, Monteluci is a brand that one has to experience. The service provided and the amount of craftsmanship put into the construction of a single vehicle is not something you see everyday in a mass-produced car. Research has shown that a lot of customers who have bought Monteluci before, are extremely likely to keep to this brand for quite some time. Over the years, a very large group of Monteluci drivers, fans and enthusiasts have formed a large customer base, one which is not only highly enthusiastic of our brand, but also one that is extremely critical; some may even consider parts of our enthusiast core to be militant and extremely defensive of 'their' brand. This shows that we, as a brand, must do something right, in order to have attached so many people to our brand, and involve them so much that they live for the brand. Of course, people buy Monteluci automobiles for their excellent craftsmanship, build quality, handling and performance, but people have often admitted they buy Montelucis not with their ratio, but because of their emotion.

As for the Duca, we are familiar with the space issues. In order to maintain a rear-wheel driven car with excellent handling, we have had to sacrifice a lot of space inside, and in the words of Autovisioun executive editor Yann Peiffer 'I shall refrain from calling the Duca cramped, but in fact it really is.' He however has also praised the engines available in the Duca, with special merit for the naturally aspirated V8 engine, a classic Monteluci product, with a flat-plane crankshaft design that creates the signature 'scream' of the engine. The BMD technology is currently some of the best common-rail technology available, using modern turbocharger and supercharger technology to exceed the 100 horsepower per litre mark, which is almost unique in the current market.

For the Ducareale, we would say that a 6/10 can never be rated as 'very good'. 'Very good' for us would be a rating of 9/10 or higher. Monteluci would consider a product rated as '6/10' a product not worth selling under the Monteluci brand. We have had some problems with the electromagnetic suspension, which is unique in the market today, but we have worked hard to solve these problems, and this work has paid off; in the last months we have not received any complaints about the SEM1 suspension system that are out of the ordinary. Furthermore, I would like to stress that the Ducareale is in fact a vehicle that can classify as an F-segment sports saloon, which is not meant to compete with Mercedes-Benz or BMW F-segment saloons (the S-class and 7-series), but is in fact operating higher up in this segment, competing against the Porsche Panamera, Aston-Martin Rapide and (especially) the Maserati Quattroporte. Nevertheless, we know that the Ducareale suffers from a typical Monteluci problem, with the interior space being suboptimal when compared to vehicles such as the BMW 7 or Mercedes S, but it is nothing out of the ordinary when compared to aforementioned 'sports saloon' competitors with Maserati, Porsche and Aston-Martin. In regards to your comment regarding the 4.7 V8 engine, I wish to stress that our 4.7-litre engine is a 100 horsepower more powerful than the Hyundai 4.6 'Tau' V8 mentioned, which is also mounted in a much smaller and cheaper car (the Genesis, which is a 5-series and E-class competitor). Furthermore, the 4.7 litre Monteluci engine is configured as a sports engine, not so much as lazy torque monster. Again, the BMD diesel engines are currently one of the most modern types of Diesel engines available on the market.

Regarding the Bucintoro, I would like to state that, first of all, Monteluci will never, and I'll stress that again, never, release a front-wheel driven car. It is not in line with our brand philosophy, and will never be accepted by our enthusiast core. Furthermore, the maximum acceptable amount of horsepower for a front-wheel drive car is about 250 horsepower, some exceptions not considered, certainly not the 350 or even 470 horsepower the Bucintoro has. Any respectable engineer should know this. Also, if one would have looked at the specifications of the Bucintoro closely, one would have found that the 3200 Lusso already is equipped with a V6 engine. Furthermore, the Bucintoro is a luxury sports tourer, not a sports car like the Audi R8, and it certainly is not like the Nissan 370Z (which does not even compare with the aforementioned R8). Competitors should be sought with luxury gran turismos such as the Maserati Granturismo, or perhaps the Mercedes-Benz CL. A Maserati Granturismo S with 430 horsepower is priced at £89,910, which makes the Bucintoro 4700 Lusso, with 470 horsepower rather interesting at £93,322, in our opinion.

Nevertheless, we thank you for your comments.

Yours faithfully,
Dr. (SDA) Alfredo Monteluci

>Dear Sir,
My name is Marco DeMartin and i am the woner of the DeMartin Business group (Richest man in Monte Mare), and one of the worlds biggest car collectors. I recently ordered a Bucintoro Lusso and a Ducareale, but thats not the point of contacting you. Recently i was in the web looking for some cars to add to my collection and i found something that seems to be a racing version of the Duca? Look:

So i would like to know what is this vehicle and if there are any units available.
