High lab was launched from an Aldebaran Rocket in 1976 using a modified upper stage as well as a new fairing. The launch was also unique in its use of a Centauri Capsule for the crew. High Lab was expanded over the next two years as Aldebaran 9 10 11 and 12 all docked there upon return from the moon. Each mission left their service module attached, expanding High Lab's living space. During the bulk of this time High Lab went unoccupied save for maintenance carried out by the visiting Aldebaran crews. Upon the end of the Aldebaran Program in 1978, an updated version of the Centauri Capsule was used to ferry crew to the station, and from then on it was continually occupied by a crew of 6 up until the end of its life.
