Et alors? It still remains a medium of exchange. The legality thereof is completely beside the point.
"Ooh, interesting concept," commented a financier in Alexandria monitoring the more mundane aspects of the WA. He ran off to the stock market to set up the initial trade in slaves. Promisory notes were issued within seconds. Hedge funds followed within minutes. 'Slave re-creation options' promising cash in the event of the legalization of slavery were issued. Rights to buy slaves from potential markets were bought and sold. A joint-stock limited liability investment company 'Slaves inc.' acquired potential options on tens of thousands of slaves - pending legalization of such options. The price of a slave rose and fell. People borrowed slaves that didn't even exist yet to short-sell and acquired negative slaves and rights on selling slaves and options on financing the buying of slaves.
The price for slave futures quickly stabilized as people remembered that nothing interesting would happen until something happened about the legalization of slaves. Nevertheless, slaves were generally agreed by all involved to be a worthy inflation-proof investment, and subsequently rapidly gained the status of a reserve currency, as all slaves could produce things and so earn interest. Even when they didn't exist, everybody knew the options on them would still be worth something tomorrow.
And the financier? He had made a nice little some of money from setting up the slave trade without anybody being enslaved. The perfect sort of slave trade.

OOC: I can't blame myself for having to do so much IRL and IOL.
However, I am happy to approve Bari's application.
I hope to reboot this to be part of the NSindex project. Since I last monitored this project, the old NSwiki has gone offline. However, we haven't lost anything thanks to putting the information right on this thread. I plan to have the wiki play a role in this project this summer.
Zunkwentania, lolomz, Gaveo, Feminarchy and The IASM, if you can indicate that you are still interested then I will add you in.

I am proposing to add this clause so that ACTA/SOPA-like stuff should not drag down the institute: after all this should be a simple free trade organisation. We will still be able to help member countries enforce intellectual property law within their borders, as long as it doesn't unnecessarily hamper freedom of expression or creativity.PART E:

Later, I will be proposing a clean-up of the constitution's language to make it more understandable, and reflect my country's current roleplay parameters.
