The Anarcho-Pacifistic Corporatocracy of Unibot
--World Factbook Entry--

Image
Official Flag of Unibot

Introduction

Unibot, the nation, was the eccentric creation of Eduard Heir. Heir, early in life was an artist and a robotics-major who emerged from Stash Kroh, an industrious, subterranean society. Although, known to be impulsive and foolish, Heir is also a genius (though an absentminded and romantic one) having engineered several impressive feats of robotics and nanotechnology that revolutionized the modern cosmetic industry. Such inventions brought him fame and fortune –- and later, political power as the president and ambassador of a corporatocracy that spawned from his corporation, Heir Industries inc., which famously combined the Arms Manufacturing and the Cosmetics industry to create a shocking megacorporation. Eduard helped to further the legal divide between his megacorporation and the nation it spawned for its employees, by naming the nation-state, "Unibot", after his envisioned 'grand invention' which has never been built or even publicly discussed.

Unibot employs between 6-10 million employees every year, exporting to countries all across the universe –- with a revenue stream that allows Heir (the Corporate Executive Officer of Heir Industries and President of Unibot) to waste astronomical amounts of currency on pointless business ventures such as glow-in-the-dark cars, and phonetic-toilets that can read the newspaper for the user. Eduard Heir represents the affairs of Unibot in the hallowed halls of the World Assembly, when he is not found gallivanting around the Applied Science Wing of Heir Industries' various laboratories.

Economy

Postby Unibot » Fri Jun 04, 2010 7:59 pm

Economy

As an affluent, high-tech industrial society in the billion-dollar class, Unibot's economy is based on the sole revenue and profit of Heir Industries. Employees of Heir industries do not have to pay an income tax to Unibot, however they must remain employed with Heir Industries in some fashion to receive a wage and benefits, and the right to live in Unibot. Unibot exports nearly all of its cosmetics, and pharmaceutical based products, and exports the entirety of its lethal or harmful weaponry and/or technology. Employees are mandated to live in the provided suburbs for employees, which are designated to individuals according to their wage and their number of dependents. Employees are also encouraged to undergo extensive cybernetic and cosmetic surgery in addition to psychoactive reconditioning therapy to increase their overall productivity, worker enthusiasm, attitude, promiscuity and aesthetics. Heir Industries is a leading global manufacturer of cosmetics, industrial robots and is contracted by various nations for defense purposes, every year, with a steady and profitable clientele from its own region. Unibot is the manufacturer of industrial robots for everything from automotive and metal fabrication to food and chemical production in addition to plastics -- and exports skin-care lotions, powders, perfumes, lipsticks, makeup, hair dyes, sprays and gels, deodorants, baby products, bath oils and many other types of cosmetic items to the most prosperous of nations, with a solid consumer reputation. Vegetation and a small agriculture system in Unibot, provides the rest of the employees of Heir Industries with a varied nutrition which ensures that Unibot can be independent from food importation. Primary materials, such as raw metal, oil and wood, are purchased and imported generally from third world countries for Heir Industries' manufacturing sector in Unibot.

People

Nationality:
    Noun: Unibotian(s)
    Adjective: Unibotian

The populace of Unibot is entirely composed of the employees of Heir Industries, who are primarily a homogeneous community. Few citizens of Unibot do not contribute to Heir Industries, with the exception of a small contingency of children and elderly people that are dependent on an employee for their living. Children of Unibot will traditionally be employed by Heir Industries by the age of seven; however some will not contribute to the workforce till fifteen to seventeen (after their education) if they plan on being an associate of the Research and Development, or the Financial department of Heir Industries. Male laborers generally contribute to the consistent, 42% annual turnover rate of Heir Industries’ employees and Unibot’s emigrants. Reasons for leaving typically include that their workplace left them unsatisfied after twenty years with no promotion to a management position. There is a significant gender disparity among higher executives in Unibot. Only 39% of executives are female, and that disparity is even less for those of ethic minorities, who represent 21.3% of all executives. Most executives are male, above 50, and caucasian.

Standard of Living

Personal freedoms are unusually high in Unibot, as there is no formal law enforcement other than the security department of Heir Industries, additionally; there is no formal law to disobey, when one is not attending their workplace. However, various psychoactive reconditioning therapy treatments that are compulsory for employees of Heir Industries (as apart of their orientation programs) have been criticized in the media for ‘brainwashing’ or otherwise, cognitively promoting a heterosexual, monogamist, optimistic, hypergamist, obedient, pacifistic demeanor. As citizens are unlikely to deviate from these norms, the culture is extremely homogenous – however as no formal law exists, there have been instances where deviants have immigrated to Unibot to practice homosexuality or polyamorous and naturist beliefs, and/or use recreational drugs freely. Education in Unibot, is scarce and minimal, employees of Unibot receive onsite training, and pamphlets to instruct themselves on mathematics and language. ‘Home schooling’ for children from parents or formal educators is still widely popular, however lately, there has been a fair minority of parents who opted to have their children educated with an alternative educational philosophy that provides a naturalistic, spiritual and primal environment for children to learn in. Furthermore, poor environmental practices, a general lack of recreational physical activity, and a minimal employee health insurance package (which provides only 42% of employees with coverage) in Unibot, contributes to a substantially lower life expectancy than other development nations boast.

[1] The traditional Unibotian language is a strictly oral language, thus it is likely the low written literacy statistic is a product of it's oral nature;

[2] Pacitalian Development and Advancement System (PDAS) is an alternative to the CHDI or UNHDI measurements of human and social development. This score is unofficial, an official ranking would be administered on an annual basis by the Pacitalian government, through the Directorate of Human and Social Development and the Directorate of Foreign Affairs.

[3] Zasredoism is a belief system fundamentally based in love, unity, friendship, life, death, absurdism, peace and the universe’s boustrophedonical progression to equilibrium through the harmonics of Sixty-Four. Zealous believers deeply worship Lucy of the celestial and scintillating heavens, and the all-merciful Walrus, and fear the wickedness of the Taxman, and his demidevils… Mean Mister Mustard and Maxwell Elliotson, the hammer wielding adjudicator of death.

Sociopolitical Overview

Failed States Index:
    44.2 [Moderate] (2009 est.)[1]
Image

Unibot has had a stable, democratic government for some time and it is likely to remain that way. Although impressive economic growth is counter-balanced by the increasing gap between the rich and the poor, and rapid development projects are creating immense environmental pollution. Unibot also continues to suffer from human and labor rights violations carried out directly by the state. One area in need of improvement is uneven development, due to the fact that employment in the various sectors of the economy is often divided along ethnic lines. Nonetheless, Unibot is relatively stable and prosperous and is likely to remain so in the foreseeable future.

Executive and Legislative Branch

Unibot, as a corporatocracy is democratically run with employee ownership. Employees are given a share of Heir Industries after they have been employed with them for two years. An assembly of stockholders, which includes all said employees directly elect by plurality, the board of directors. The board of directors, is a fifteen member body of elected members who jointly oversee the activities of Heir Industries -- internally, they'll appoint a Chairman of the Board, a President and/or Chief Executive Officer, vice president(s), Chief Officers, a Secretary, an assistant secretary, a treasurer and an assistant treasurer. It is the duty of the Board of Directors to:

  • Govern the corporatocracy by establishing broad legislative policies, by-laws and objectives;
  • Select, appoint, support and review the performance of the chief executive;
  • Ensure the availability of adequate financial resources;
  • Approve annual budgets;
  • Address stockholders and employees on the organization's performance.

As of June 5th 2010, the Board of Directors consists of:

    President and Chief Executive Officer:
      Eduard Heir
    Executive Vice President:
      Ulaş Dorenbos
    Senior Vice President:
      Bartholomew Stroeken
    Chairman of the Board:
      Walter Freeman

All of the following directors seek reelection in the 40th Annual Shareholders' Convention, from July 1-7.

Military

Pacifism

Generally speaking, Unibotians are strictly pacifists. They are opposed to war and violence as a means of settling disputes and/or gaining advantage. Unibotian pacifism is traditionally rooted in deontological philosophies, with Unibotians viewing that every human being has the duty to respect one another's right to live and inhabit the universe. Unibot can maintain such a strong anti-militaristic view without too much opposition or exploitation by foreign forces because Heir Industries is such a leading arms manufacturer in the international market, that it supplies many of the globally militant nations in the world that Unibot would otherwise be threatened by.

For ceremonial purposes, Unibot does maintain a small ceremonial armed forces and navy. Members of the Unibotian Ceremonial armies wear a florescent and flamboyant uniform not unlike something a member of a marching band would wear in a technicolor film, and our encouraged to grow mustaches and keep their hair long -- in the case of female officers, just the latter, obviously. Sergeant is the highest rank in the Unibotian Ceremonial armies. Military history of the Unibotian Naval Army includes a naval blockade of IASEN slave-ships [1], using yellow-painted submarines. Heir Industries has recently published several corporate by-laws on the subject regarding the security of Unibot to safeguard against non-customers attempting to steal products (particularly firearms and weapon technology). Heir Industries has protected Unibot with several non-lethal security systems that is operated by the Unibot Security Team and the Unibot Defense Force (UDF), which supposedly includes directed-energy and electromagnetic technologies, laser induced plasma channels, malodorants, as well as sonic and pressured air weaponry.

Staff
Image
FM. Genrih Nahimov, Manager, 43 Image Image
10 Caps, 1 Goals (0 Caps, 0 Goals at Under-21 level)
A morose man, who has attended more wars than football matches -- considered one of the veterans of association football in Unibot. A leg injury negated his ability to play as a young striker, which was the end to his team (the club dissolved shortly thereafter). He now walks with a slight hobble and is known to drink a few dry martinis before every game.

Image
HC. Alekseevič Gladkov, Head Coach, 49 Image
7 Caps, 3 Goals (0 Caps, 0 Goals at Under-21 level)
A diligent, ernest gentleman who pursues professional football with a passion -- rumor has it that he left his law practice to take up football after only seeing the game (being played in a muddy moor with sticks for goalposts) being played once. His coaching-style is that of a meticulous but benevolent schoolteacher, he prefers a cup of crimson tea with a jigger of brandy for lunch.

Image
AC. Alekseevič Gladkov, Assistant Coach, 33 Image
5 Caps, 2 Goals (0 Caps, 0 Goals at Under-21 level)
Gladkov, a con-man who pretends to be clairvoyant, got involved with football following a prison sentence, he found it similar to the rugby that the prisoners would occasionally play -- his creativity has been used in the creation of unusual plays. Gladov enjoys a pint of beer for supper every evening.

Image
EM. Varlam Skobelev, Equipment Manager, 24 Image
Uncapped, 0 Goals (0 Caps, 0 Goals at Under-21 level)
He never played football, but Skobelev sure thinks it looks like fun. Varlam, once a beggar, joined the staff as the Equipment Manager when he defeated Rodney "the bull" Raleigh in a messy bar fight, Raleigh had planned on laying a beating down on Unibot's veteran football player, Feliks Buharin. Varlam was offered the position as a warm thank-you. Skobelev is known to drink just about any alcoholic drink that some how comes into his possession.

Image
TD. Dr. Lev Degtârëv M.D, Physician, 41 ImageImage
✯✯✯½ out of ✯✯✯✯✯
Degtârëv graduated from Medical school with honors but was sued for malpractice a few years ago by an angry husband who had learned his wife was having intercourse with Degtârëv in his practice's office. He likes to play an out-tune mandolin and smoke opium, both of which he often conducts will he dignoses his patients. His favorite drink is notoriously water, which is strange considering the greater chance of bacterial proliferation in water than in alcohol -- a risk that Degtârëv would be well aware of.

Image
TS. Dr. Mihajlovič Rudenko M.D, Field Surgeon, 56 Image Image
✯½ out of ✯✯✯✯✯
A field surgeon who has participated in several wars. Rudenko is prone to liking to amputate even when it isn't unnecessary.. which of course is improper for a surgeon for a professional football team. He is also known to drink heavily with a flask of brandy in his left hand and his scalpel in his right.

Image
HN. Nurse Tatiana Berezovskij, Head Nurse, 54
✯✯½ out of ✯✯✯✯✯
Crusty ol' Nurse Berezovskij also has experience from the war, where she learned to treat her patients like pieces of meat and practiced the art of maternal benevolence ("mother knows best"). She enjoys snickering at the silly fictional works of Nurse Nightingale and occasionally drinking a cup of Earl Grey that can't even begin to warm her reptilian blood.

Goalkeepers
Image
1. Pëtr Âbločkov, GK, 26 - UCDF A.C.F Image Image Image
2 Caps, 0 Goals (0 Caps, 0 Goals at Under-21 level)
Pëtr Âbločkov pioneered a playing style that involved more mobility. He was the first goalkeeper in Unibot to wear gloves and the first one to leave the penalty area to defend his goal. Pëtr is illiterate, but a crafty man who distinctively lacks a left ring finger from an injury he suffered in an adolescent pistol duel. His favorite drink is a glass of a stiff sherry.

Image
12. Isaak Skrâbin, GK, 19 - Marius Marauders Image
Uncapped, 0 Goals (0 Caps, 0 Goals at Under-21 level)
Currently learning the ropes of goalkeeping from Âbločkov, Skrâbin is a young hopeful who hopes to avoid a career as a coalminer by becoming a professional footballer. Although he is a light drinker, he prefers a glass of scotch over just about anything but football.

Defenders
Image
2. Garri Kalašnikov, C/LB, 28 - New Werner Warlocks Image Image Image
1 Cap, 0 Goals (0 Caps, 0 Goals at Under-21 level)

Currently suffering from an acute pain in his left knee.

Image
3. Vasilʹevič Belinskij, C/RB, 24 - Robrecht Marvericks Image Image
Uncapped, 0 Goals (0 Caps, 0 Goals at Under-21 level)
Vasilʹevič Belinskij is a burly, tall brick. His friends would call him "the wall" if he had any. He is a mute, and is particularly slow at running, but overtly aggressive. He seems to mumble quite a bit when his mother feeds him a Shot of Creme De Cassis and tequillia.

Image
13. Ivanovič Hruŝëv, C/LB, 29 - Gerben Serpents Image Image Image
Uncapped, 0 Goals (0 Caps, 0 Goals at Under-21 level)
This burly fellow's main claim to fame is that he "scored" the first goal in The Unibotian Football League on the first day of the inaugural season for the Gerben Serpents against their rivals, Cobus Laraha. Unfortunately, his goal was scored into his own net, thereby scoring an "own goal". He is very violent and aggressive, prone to sudden bursts of extreme behavior. Hruŝëv was convicted of pickpocketing when he was eleven, and spent two years in prison. His favorite drink is a beer-stein full of single malt whiskey.

Image
14. Mihajlovič Plehanov, C/RB, 23 - UCDF A.C.F Image Image Image
Uncapped, 0 Goals (0 Caps, 0 Goals at Under-21 level)
A ladies' man, who oftentimes isn't too focused on the game, Plehanov likes to play dirty and push from behind. In football however, he is a fairly passive player and often is criticized for being scared of threats. Nonetheless, Plehanov is a dedicated war veteran and enjoys a large glass of Kölsch.

Midfielders
Image

Image
5. Ûrʹevič Lermontov, C/RM, 23 - Gerben Serpents Image Image Image
3 Caps, 1 Goal (0 Caps, 0 Goals at Under-21 level)
A crafty player with a knack for passing, shooting and dribbling. He also is a harmonicist, which like his football career has brought him almost no money but lots of women. When he does eventually shelve out the money for a drink, he likes to nurse a bottle of dark rum.

Image
15. Boris Fomin, C/LM, 21 - UCDF A.C.F Image Image Image
Uncapped, 0 Goals (0 Caps, 0 Goals at Under-21 level)
An engineer for the Unibot Ceremonial Defense Force. He is married with one child. Oftentimes, Boris is so intoxicated from his daily pints of beer that he angrily stumbles on the field, fumbles his passes or passes to the opposing team.

Image
16. Konstantin Gorbačëv, C/RM, 25 - New Arjan Breadwinners Image Image
Uncapped, 0 Goals (0 Caps, 0 Goals at Under-21 level)
Gorbačëv owns a local clocktinker shop in a spare time, and is a widowed husband with one daughter. He has a solid control over the ball, and has good stamina. Forwards
Image
9. Lazarʹ Semënov, SC, 28 - Marius Marauders Image Image Image
4 Cap, 2 Goals (0 Caps, 0 Goals at Under-21 level)

In public, he drinks a tall glass of scotch.

Image
10. Feliks Buharin, SSC, 29 -Cobus Laraha Image ImageImage
2 Caps, 1 Goal (0 Caps, 0 Goals at Under-21 level)
His main claim to fame is scoring the first goal for Laraha in their opening game in the inaugural season of The Unibotian Football League in a 5-2 victory over Gerben. Although Gerben's Ivanovič Hruŝëv had scored the very first goal only minutes earlier, as this was an own goal, Buharin could claim to have scored the first "intentional" goal in the Unibotian Football League. Buharin is seen as the veteran player of the team, and a gentleman. He attended Smithfield Univeristy and graduated from the College of William and Martha. He studied law and was admitted to the bar and practiced in Fincastle, Cobus. His favorite drink is a tall glass of Curaçao.
