The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) is the division of the Geadish government which manages relations between Geadland and other nations. We also manage relations with international organisations like the World Assembly, Esquarian Community and NOSDO.
Our mission is to do Geadland's part in making the world a more peaceful and prosperous place. We are in charge of Geadland's network of embassies, giving us an outpost in most countries in Esquarium and many countries outside of the region. In our own offices, we study the state of our relations with other countries and what course we believe we should take with our foreign policy. We also provide information to Geads who are wishing to travel abroad and outsiders who are wishing to travel in.
The Foreign Ministry no longer manages foreign aid. This is dealt with by the Ministry of International Development. Neither do we manage immigration, although we sometimes advertise immigration to Geadland. Other immigration issues are dealt with by two agencies of the Ministry of the Interior. Gateway to Geadland handles applications for immigration and visas, while the Border Police are the primary agency for policing immigration.
The current Minister of Foreign Affairs is Julius Albrechtsen, who was appointed on 22 June 2013. He is a member of the Conservative Party. The minister manages three State Secretaries, who are listed below.

Geadland is a medium-sized country with a population of just under 30 million, located in Western Esquarium. It borders Luziyca to the south and Namor to the east. It has its own language and distinct national identity. During the country's "Golden Age" in the 17th century, the country formed relations and trade links with countries from all over the world. Many Geads settled in countries all over the world and many maintain a notable Geadish community to this day.
The government of Geadland continues to maintain embassies with almost all countries in the region of Esquarium and many from outside the region. All foreign embassies are based in the city of Da Hegner, the country's capital and third-largest city. Located in the north of the city in the cultural region of Horgalund, Da Hegner is noted for its green space and ornate architecture from the 18th and 19th centuries. It has a very a population of 1.3 million, a large student community, a thriving commercial and business centre and a world-class public transport network. Bondhaven, Geadland's largest city, is less than half an hour away on the train. A 2013 article by Review magazine named Da Hegner to be "Geadland's Most Liveable City". It was the 4th time in 10 years that the city had received this award.
There are two main districts where embassies are located. Tempel is located in the city centre, among the main government buildings and the Royal University of Da Hegner. Bromburgh is located on the outskirts of the city and is connected to the city centre by the Metro. A few other embassies are scattered elsewhere in the city. Most embassy buildings are ordinary townhouses.
Information on embassies and consulates
Geadland is a member of the World Assembly and is required by international law to respect General Assembly Resolution #22. This was implemented in Geadland with the Foreign Relations Act 1957. Later acts have made minor changes to the 1957 legislation. For the most up-to-date version, see the Foreign Relations Law.
Contrary to popular belief, embassies are not considered to be territory of the nation it belongs to. The embassy's territory belongs to the country the embassy is located in. However, they are exempt from most local laws and have other special privileges. Most notably, the nation that the embassy belongs to has the legal right block people from entering their embassy. Diplomatic workers also have special privileges, which are shown in the table below. Embassies are not exempt from local planning laws and making major alterations to the building requires permission from the local borough council (not the Da Hegner City Council). This is partly because many embassy buildings are joined onto other buildings.
In addition to their embassy, many nations have a consulate in at least one other city. Consulates may help the embassy with diplomatic work. However, most of their work is to promote trade and provide citizens of their country with services, such as issuing passports and visas. Whereas most embassies occupy a whole building, many consulates simply consist of rented office space. Nations tend to place consulates in Geadland's other major cities, or in cities where many of their own citizens are living.

Nations applying to Geadland's embassy program must abide by the following rules:
- Your government must respect international law concerning embassies and consulates.
- A nation may have up to 4 consulates in Geadland, in addition to the embassy.
- Embassies are limited to a maximum of 15 security staff, 30 service staff and 20 diplomatic staff. Consulates are limited to 7 security staff, 15 service staff and 10 diplomatic staff.
- Embassies and consulates are limited to a maximum of 2 non-lethal weapons and 1 lethal weapon per security guard.
- Embassies and consulates may not use weapons which are not available for civilian use in Geadland. These include automatic weapons, large semi-automatic firearms and explosive weapons. The full list can be found here.
- Embassies and consulates are limited to a maximum of 1 vehicle for every 10 members of staff.
- Vehicles may be bulletproof armoured, but no further armour is permitted.
- Embassies are limited to a maximum of 2 aircraft. Consulates are limited to a maximum of 1 aircraft.
- All embassy aircraft will be stored in the hangars at Bondhaven Slochterdam Airport, which is 20-30 minutes away from central Da Hegner.
- Consulate aircraft will be stored in the hangars at either Bondhaven Slochterdam Airport or Eskrau Airport, whichever is closer.
- If you want an exemption from any of the limits on staff, vehicles and weapons, contact the Government of Geadland first.
The Kingdom of Geadland reserves the right to reject an application or avoid making a decision on it, for any reason.
Locations of embassies and consulates
Within Da Hegner, there are two main districts of the city where embassies are located:
The Tempel district (right) is located in the city centre, in the borough of the same name. It is the same district where most of the national government is based. It is also home to the Royal University of Da Hegner, one of the most prestigious universities in the country, many national agencies and lobbying organisations. Nations who set up an embassy will within walking distance of all of Geadland's main government buildings. It is only about 5-10 minutes on the bus or metro to get to the city's main commercial centre.
The Bromburgh district (left) is located in the southeast of the city, in the borough of Hegnershag (pronounced Hegners-hag, not Hegner-shag). The district is better suited to nations who require more space for their embassy. It has attractive 19th century suburban architecture, leafy streets and plenty of amenities. It is connected to the metro network; it takes 15-20 minutes to get to the Tempel district with a single change at Park-Kirkus, and 20-25 minutes to get to the city centre via a direct train.
Of course, nations are not restricted to having embassies in these two districts. A few others are scattered throughout the city.
Out of all the cities in Geadland, the following six are the most popular destinations for consulates:
- Bondhaven: Although it is not the seat of government, Bondhaven is Geadland's largest city and the country's economic and cultural capital. Given the role consulates play in encouraging trade and commerce, it is no surprise the Bondhaven has the largest number of them.
- Eskrau: The "Capital of the South" in Geadland, Eskrau is the country's second largest city. It is a busy centre for industry, shipping and trade.
- Elhaas: Elhaas is the fourth-largest city in Geadland and the capital of its most populous county. It is located in the northeast of the country and is a centre for technology industries.
- Grönching: Grönching is Geadland's fifth largest city and the largest inland city.
- Sofjastad: Also nicknamed the "Gateway to Geadland", Sofjastad is located on the border with Luziyca. It is a strategically important city for commerce and trade.
- Arje: Arje is the capital of the northern county of Leghel, the only county with a Swedish-speaking population. Despite its small size, some country's have consulates here in order to have a gateway to Geadland's Swedish-speaking minority.
A message from the Minister of Foreign Affairs
The Kingdom of Geadland welcomes all nations who wish to set up an embassy with Geadland.
Our policy is to maintain relations with the incumbent government of any country, regardless of whether we agree or disagree with their actions. We believe that a world where nations address their differences peacefully through open discussion is preferable to one where conflict is a first resort. We believe we have a moral duty to defend human rights, representative democracy and the environment. We believe that making trade and travel easier brings great economic benefits. We work closely with the Ministry of International Development because we have a duty to support those less fortunate than ourselves.
The foreign policy of Geadland does not focus on selfish national interests. Rather, it is based around a commitment to the values which I have expressed above. Respecting these values can bring benefits to all nations, not just Geadland. Nonetheless, our convictions are tempered by a respect for diplomatic principles and the integrity of the nation-state.
