The United Commonwealth of Embolalia welcomes the world to establish embassies and consulates within our state. We believe establishing ambassadorial relations will help to bring new trade, tourism, and diplomatic opportunities for all involved parties.
Please read these notes before filling in the application form:
We would like first inform you of our policies regarding diplomatic immunity. Your ambassador and consul general are considered diplomatically immune from prosecution. This includes a guide to diplomatic immunity which holds in Embolalia. As a World Assembly member, Embolalia also follows GA#22.
Your embassy or consulate is your sovereign territory. However, in order to ensure the preservation of historic character in certain districts, we do require that embassies utilizing existing buildings maintain the current structure, unless in direct consultation with our government. Also, if your embassy or consulate is located in a building that is not exclusively dedicated to your purpose, your territory ends at the end of your allocated space.
Embassies and consulates are different. The embassy serves as the main location for diplomatic relations. It may, by definition, only be located in the capital, Caridd. A consulate is where your citizens can get assistance from your government if needed, for example if one is arrested, loses a passport, etcetera. Consulates can be located anywhere. Usually they are located in one or more major cities. You do not have to have a consulate if you have an embassy. If you only want to have an embassy, that is okay.
Locations:
Embassies will be located within Greater Caridd. Greater Caridd encompasses the Capitol Ward, a small ward within the city that includes most of our governmental buildings. We recommend that embassies be located within the Capitol Ward. An area in the Capitol Ward, sometimes referred to as Embassy City, has historically been used for foreign embassies. There are a number of beautiful existing buildings that can be used for embassies. You may choose to have your embassy located elsewhere in Greater Caridd if you like. Please specify which ward. Consulates can be located anywhere in the nation except Greater Caridd. For a map of the major cities, and more information about our nation, please visit this site. For more information about Caridd, please see this page.
Vehicles and Staff:
We do not impose limits on staff. However, bear in mind that this is a diplomatic mission, so please be reasonable. We also do not provide staff, though you are free to hire Embolalian citizens if you need.
We do not have a limit on your number of vehicles per se. (Practically speaking, you won't need very many, perhaps 5 to 20. Literally, there is a limit of 1000, because of the way the plates are numbered) Parking can be limited in the Capitol Ward. There is a secure parking garage located by our Ministry of Foreign Affairs office, very near Embassy City, which you may use (within reason). Military vehicles are expressly forbidden.
Our diplomatic plates include a four-letter code to identify the nation. This will usually be your nation code, or some variation thereof. Please provide this for us, and try to ensure that it does not conflict with anyone else's. (Once we get the first request, we'll post an example plate here) The plate number also has four numbers, which are unique to each vehicle and up to each nation's choice. You may still use any other fleet numbering you wish; this just applies to license plates. (So for example, if your code were LLLL, an example of one of your plates would be LLLL-000)
Please note that local parking regulations do apply to your diplomatic vehicles. While our government may not seize them, private towing firms may move your vehicle if it is parked in a private lot, or blocking a fire hydrant, driveway, or traffic.
