Because that's a new one for me. My Mongol histories usually have him falling off his horse or dying of wounds received in battle/from hunting, depending on who's relating the story.

The most common one that I've heard is that he had a heart attack after having a massive, well, would harem be an appropriate PG-13 word for it?

I read somewhere that he bashed his head whilst trying to get into bed with his new wife, and died from the resulting nose bleed, which sounds like nonsense :p.

I love studying the lives of 19th century philosophers, artists/composers, intellectuals, etc.. They have so many fascinating stories to tell: the 19th century is my favorite period in history, because it was a time in which all the romantic forces of the past met with the vast scale of modern society. A man could still be a great and heroic changing force in history, but the scope of... well, everything increased.

Take Wagner, for example. Were you aware that Wagner actually took up arms in the 1849 Dresden uprising? Richard Wagner, the composer, was a militant revolutionary (for a period of time, at least)! Gustave de Molinari, the "founder" (intellectual antecedent) of anarcho-capitalism, was exiled from France by Napoleon III because he was a liberal agitator and a critic of the Emperor. Little facts like those are just fascinating, because they give a real context and flavor for what otherwise appear to be dull "old dead white guys" with long bibliographies.

Capitalism is always the answer. Whenever there's a problem in capitalism, you just need some more capitalism. If the solution isn't capitalism, then it's not really a problem. If your capitalism gets damaged, you just need to throw some capitalism on it and get on with your life.

The Battle of Megiddo, where in the 15th century BC Thutmost 3 fought the king of Kadesh and the Canaanites. Now this is an important small point in history because;
*Thutmose's scribes created the first recorded body count in history.
*The scribes also recorded the first Usage of the compound bow!
*The fallowing battle, The siege of Megiddo, ended with Thutmose 3's empire encompassing Megiddo and thus reaching the Largest point in the history of Thutmose's reign.

I have another favorite small piece of history:

During the Gulf War, a compound was destroyed in a missile strike. In the aftermath, a few people scavenged the remains of the building and found a badly charred and scorched GameBoy, which is now featured in the Nintendo Museum in NYC. Why? Because after replacing its screen, the GameBoy continued running as if nothing had happened.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is why people claim that things made by Nintendo are indestructible.

Because Nintendo stronk.

I Read from a book that he died several months (or years) after conquering china on his bed during a campaign.
It was a 6th grade book so its probable that they made up this death, for obvious reasons.

This is clearly not the case because Genghis Khan didn't conquer China.

It was Kublai Khan who conquered China.

However, I have since found out the origin of the "Genghis Khan died from castration" story.

There is a legend that Genghis Khan was castrated by a surviving princess of the Tangut/Western Xia dynasty using a dagger she had hidden on her person, partly in revenge for Genghis Khan's destruction of the Tangut state and massacre of her family, and partly to stop Genghis from raping her. The Princess then committed suicide by jumping into the Yellow River. Some versions of the legend have Genghis falling into a King Arthur-like trance after the castration, from which he will awake to save the Mongols in their hour of deadliest danger.

It does seem that Genghis died as the siege of Yinchuan, capital and last hold-out of the Western Xia, came to a conclusion; several accounts have him dying of wounds received during the final attack (or falling off his horse - precise accounts, even of the actual killing wound, vary). But the story of the princess seems to be a fabrication made up by opponents of the Mongols.

Man, I remember reading about that in Nintendo Power back in the 90s. If memory serves, all they had to do was slap some fresh batteries in it and it powered on. The buttons had been partly melted in the blast though, so it wasn't exactly playable, but the internal hardware was still running just fine. Seriously, old Nintendo stuff could take a beating. My SNES took a dive in the earlier-mentioned earthquake and to this day runs without a hitch despite taking a hell of a hit from the TV faceplanting on top of it. (And not one of these pansy modern flat-screen things, I'm talkin' a 60 pound behemoth of an old tube TV! XD)
