I come here, in your subconscious mind, to tell you that you have been drawn. You don't know this yet, and won't until you must. How is the best way to put this? You....well.
You have become extremely important.
Do you know of Tarot Cards? There are 22 of them, each with their own titles and positions. You are one of these 22. Some have already been drawn, centuries, millennium, eternities ago, even. These 22 have been fated to play a pivotal role in a quest. What is this quest, you ask? Well, it is a kind of race. To revive your universe.
But you'll find that out eventually. For now, the cards are set. I do hope you'll join us.
This Is You
You are one of the drawn. But we'll get to that. Let's talk about the present.

Yeah, so, all that's happening. Fun.
Welcome to Re:lay, a roleplay that combines modern-day highschool characters with magical quests reminiscent of your favorite fantasy stories. To these kids, life is perfectly normal and nerdy, until a catastrophic event propels them into a world of mystics, magic, and alchemy. Their main pursuit: The Philosopher's Stone, an artifact said to be created by God himself. This stone (symbolized by the crest above) can revive and immortalize anything in existence, even a universe. They aren't the only group trying to find this stone, however. Perhaps there is even something that wishes to destroy the stone entirely...
This roleplay is unique, in that each pivotal character (NPC's included) has a predetermined basic personality, represented by Tarot Cards. This isn't to say you cannot create your own character, however, certain traits, magical abilities, and story events will be determined by their card's title. There are 22 titles in total, each very diverse, so don't feel as if you're trapped in a box creation-wise.
Make no mistake, however: When it comes to action scenes, this bitch plays by anime rules: everything is colorful, powerful, and epic. Combat scenes, evil monsters, and funny character reactions are at the base of Re:lay, with a complex lore that reveals itself with the characters in time. I do hope you'll join me along for the ride.
A Few Friendly Things to Keep in Mind:
- Hey! Are you a teen? Are you a nerd? Feel free to play yourself! We won't judge
- Be unique, diverse, and interesting! No great story was ever made with a bland character.
- Death is gonna happen. You can protest for a time, but if I'm set on killing your character, it's gonna happen. You can make more characters, don't worry.
- Create relationships! The other characters are your good friends, feel free to form romances, hatreds, and friendships with the other RP'ers!
- Even if the story seems a bit simple, or even confusing, I will further explain it as we go along. For now, just know there's awesome comabt, magic, humor, a cool world, and nifty characters. Tantalizing, right?

Now for the Meaty Stuff, also known as:
Tarot Cards and How they'll Work
Each major character in Re:lay is represented by an Arcana, otherwise known as a tarot card's title (i.e., The Fool, Death, The Hanged Man, etc.). These cards are intentionally vague, so as to give you all some space to make original character. Each Arcana is allowed to be used once, with exceptions to this rule possibly coming later. For now, we'll keep it simple.
Each Arcana has two positions, Upright and Reversed. These are simpler than they seem, they simply mean positive and negative abilities. Upright are the positive talents and traits of your Arcana, Reversed are the weaknesses or flaws.
In addition, each card possesses items or figures of power, things that are directly related or pictured in your card. In example, "The Tower"'s symbols are: Lightning, Fire, and The Falling Man. These bear more significance than they may seem: In time, a card's figures of power may become accessible to their hero, or even controlled in unique spells or abilities.
These will come in time, though, for now, we must discuss..
Weapons

You want a sniper rifle? Cool! You want a warhammer? Go for it! You want magical chakrams? All the more power to ya! However, your weapon should somehow relate to your Arcana, be it a symbol of it, related to it via words/shape, or something along those lines.

Name: Obvious. Make sure it makes sense/is realistic.
Gender: Obvious Stat is Obvious
Age: The youngest I'll allow a character to go is 13. Oldest is 16-17.
Appearance: Picture is preferred, but not necessary. If you do supply a picture, try to keep it in the cartoon/anime type of appearance. Just for theming and such.
Handle: This is your chat handle, your username on chatrooms and relay channels. It should reflect something about them, or bear some significance. We'll be talking using them for a bit, so don't just throw this away. It should also be in the color that you want your character's handle to be in during conversation.
Arcana: What card is your character? Remember, this plays into their personality.
Personality: What is your character like? Remember to be original! Minimum of two lines of text.
Current Life: What is their current situation? Who are they in the real world? Where do they live?
Weapon: See the section on weapons above. Please note, they do not have this weapon yet, but will receive it.
Quirks: What are some interesting things about your character? Do they irrationally hate one type of food? Do they hate the ocean? This is basically the fanservice section.

Personality: Inquisitive, introspective, and cautiously friendly. He is naturally naive, but has nullified this through years of expectations placed upon him. In socializing, he is awkward and timid, but proves to be a very dependable and valuable friend after a time. Very rebellious of the life he leads, he is always eager to explore of embark on a dangerous scenario for himself or others, as long as he is the only one who will get in trouble. Self-Critical and believes himself to have horrible luck.
Current Life: Currently switches lives between his two divorced parents' homes, both millionaires. His father struggles with addictions and cares little for his son, allowing him large freedoms, but ever-increasing disappointment if he fails his expectations, and an analytic mother, who monitors his activity to a ridiculous extent and demands he do well in school and life. His life is a constant battle between too many freedoms, and too little, where his life always comes second to his parents' wishes.

Quirks: Loves fruit, probably ridiculously fun when he's intoxicated, if discussing something he's interested in, he can go on for hours.
