Media is generally allowed, but if it starts nosing into Government and/or police/Military workings, they can lose their job over it.

That would be the responsibility of the Holiness Board, an enormous body of grey-haired (if human) bureaucrats that sit at a large desk and review every song, movie, television show, and item wanting to be sold in TurtleShroom. They have strict guidelines to follow.


The job of the Board is to produce a "clean version" of every item they are given. That means cutting out swear words with beeps, removing suggestive content or replacing the word with a beep or a different word.

The State is forbidden to censor any form of written media beyond the removal of swear words (simply inserting the word <censored> where the obscenity was). All "cuss words" are defined in a federal code that is available online.

Questioning the government and its policies is not only allowed, but encouraged. Questioning the way the government taxes is also encouraged. Questioning religion is allowed, but is considered horribly rude and is looked down upon. Flag desecration is a crime, with desecration also strictly defined.

Music is not censored other than the removal of swear words and swearing context/suggestive content, which are replaced with those famous "beeps". Sometimes, if the song is nasty enough, a whole verse will be removed.

Television has a strict watershed. Anything with any sort of sexual/homosexual/graphic/suggestive content (what we call TV-MA) can only be shown between the hours of 12:00 AM and 5:00 AM. At the start of any of these shows, and after each commercial break, this is shown to the viewer for twenty seconds:

Violent video games (the M rating) can only be purchased by creatures over eighteen.

Or, here's a more extreme example, in which artists who could draw like South Park were called in to rewrite one part of an episode.

Oh, and sometimes, sentances will be replaced instead of beeped, leading to...

Blood is normally uncensored in TurtleShroom, as are organs, but these do drastically up the rating. The Passion of the Christ is one of the few movies to be completely and totally untouched by any form of censorship whatsoever.

As for South Park, episodes that show Jesus doing something He wouldn't do (like watching porn) are not aired in the country in the first place. In fact, that occurs on any mature-content show. Some shows, like American Dad or South Park, have many episodes unshown in TurtleShroom, leading to confusion when a character references something that appeared in an episode that was barred.

The Internet does not exist in TurtleShroom; we have the SHADY instead.

is there any media censorship law in your nation? Such as banning certain movies to be shown in theaters, or banning some shows to be shown at a certain time?

There's absolutely no censorship in Taozi. We don't even have a censorship board. It's not like banning movies is going to stop people from viewing it anyway. So why ban movies?

A required clarification: our Justice Ministry informs us that this description isn't accurate; they're not in the habit of arresting folks for depicting criminal acts.
