How does one decide where one's region is? Is there some sort of roleplay standard that all regions is a desolate island, or is it some form of deviation of a world-map where you simply pick a spot and demand it's yours? Asking primarily because I'd love to be landlocked, and a tundra-ish environment.

Don't think of regions as territories in a map. Rather think of them as alliances that your nation can join (or create). Some regions do make their own maps, but that isn't an inherent part of the game, as much as it is something used to expand upon the regional experience.

Of course, that I am aware of. I'm thinking mostly in the sense of warfare and a defensive doctrine, where environment and landlockedness-or-not is a decisive part of a coalition's military stratagem.

If you are thinking of roleplaying, that is left up to each nation/region, since NS itself doesn't really include a war option. For instance, the South Pacific happens to have a map composed of two big continents and several small islands, but we could've picked a map full of islands just as easily. It was up to us, really. I'm not a roleplayer, so you should probably ask in International Incidents.
If you mean raiding and defending, though, maps have no bearing in that. Regions are raided or liberated based on who takes the delegacy, not on their roleplayed geography.

I hope this answers your question? If not, just go ahead and ask again, and we'll be glad to help. :)

Getting Rid of Corruption

Postby Royal Witch Realm » Mon Sep 22, 2014 7:46 am

I have ugly corruption in my nation, I need to get rid of it for the good of my people. How can I get rid of corruption permanently? To make it even harder, I have NOT been getting those corruption issues recently too.

Any issues that limit the power of the government or open up the ties between your citizens and government usually drop corruption down I've found.

Does my classification (in the settings menu) effect my tax rate? My tax rate keeps bouncing between 58% and 61% on my normal citizens and after legislation it is 100% on rich citizens. When I chose the legislation I was hoping the tax rate on my normal citizens would fall and the rich citizens would increase, but not that dramatically. I'm currently a People's Republic and would like to know if changing that would change my tax rates. If it will, what would you suggest to help me move from a Corrupt Dictatorship to an Iron-Fist Socialism?

Your classification is purely aesthetics and has no in-game bearing over your stats or anything else. You could name yourself "The drug free union of Cerebrum apparatus" yet still be in the top 1% for drug use.

On the note of this issue; I can't see a single issue changing the stats of your nation a large amount - however I'm pretty sure it will lower the tax rate a little bit. Someone correct me if I'm wrong though.

As found here it explains what is needed to achieve certain classifications. To get to "Iron-Fist Socialists," all you would need to do is increase peoples civil rights. Stuff like less restrictions on drugs, gay marriage legalised and stuff like that.

I hope this was helpful!

It was helpful, and thank you. My trend lines have me fit for Iron-Fist Socialists and I'm about to pass pro-union legislation so perhaps at the large update tonight I'll be reclassified.

Well your nation is not terribly old so issues affect you a tad bit more than someone who has been around a few years. Wouldn't surprise me if it did happen next update. ^,^

Anyway; best of luck

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe being in the WA also impacts statistics, based on the outcome of ongoing legislation.

Hi this is going to sound like an odd question. But when things like apocalypses and such happen on the site. Does the amount I spend on Military have any affect on that? You know like the zombie one I saw some videos of last year? Because at the moment my spending on it is zero and I have an issue that depending on my answer would allow me to add some.

Sorry I've never been around for a Halloween event :|

I'd assume that it does - as far as I know your stats are directly affected during that time too. However the affects on,y last until the end of the event.

For the Zombie Apocalypse specifically, I believe the best to way to survive is to ensure all the large nations in your region are researching cure, and of course to make sure you fire cure missiles at anyone coming down with infection. The military stats of individual nations have little to no value. In terms of individual survival, rather than regional, it is indeed better to opt to kill rather than cure, as the latter requires some cooperation between nations to really be effective. I'm not actually sure if your military size affects the rate you can kill zombies, but I don't think it does. Perhaps someone else can confirm or deny that.

I was here for NationStatesZ.

These were the options given:

1. Order your military to kill the zombies. (being the best, because you survive it)

2. Research a cure( I did this also, but died because instead of fighting them you try to save the nation by finding a cure which never worked for me, that is just my sole experiance.)

or

3. Shipped them off to neighboring nations. (which I nevered tried, because I'd rather deal with them myself.)

BUT, if it ever happened again, I recommend issue 1, because survival is certain. In my experiance.

NationStatesZ was supposed to be only once but they did it twice, I don't know when they'll do it again.

You would be looking for the General Assembly. I also highly recommend against until you have some serious experience debating proposals first....

Before submitting it i would go about posting it in the General Assembly or Security Council before going about actually submitting it to the World Assembly. I would aslo enocurage reading the Security Council Guide or General Assembly Guide depending on what is being submitted.

however Chester is correct in saying to wait a little while to get a little advise. Read up on former passed resolutions and watch the newer ones reach quorum and than get voted on.

I wish you the bets of luck in your World Assembly authorship - hope to see one of your proposals one day pass!

Postby Boot Camp 101 » Sun Oct 05, 2014 11:18 pm

I am looking for a region but I am deeply confused by all the different 'Tags' that there are!
Can someone telegram me, and help??? Maybe send a link to another article or forum topic that can show me all of their meanings?
Thankyou!

A lot of regions just post use all the tags and a lot of them are up to interpretation. I believe there is a topic somewhere explaining it but i'm failing to find it sorry.

Obvious ones that also have the largest bearing are Gameplay and Roleplay; which both are self-explanatory. Than you have stuff related to the R/D game (Raiding and Defending [Military/War]) such as Imperialist, Raider, Defender and Independent. You also have a lot of tags relating to the regions roleplay Tech.

Maybe if you think of what your after and explain it in a post we can give you a list of tags that would apply - You can also post a topic explaining what you are after and people will give you some regions that they think you might enjoy.
