Hello, A&F. It's that time again: Short Story Contest Time!

Rules:

Writing deadline is Guy Fawkes Day (November 5th)
6000 word maximum, no minimum
No fanfic, but public domain characters are fine
Mind the site rules
The story must be original (not published or previously posted on the internet)

Scoring:

In past contests, judges have sometimes gotten busy with RL and were not able to judge. If anyone else is interested in judging, you can volunteer as a back-up, and I'll TG you if your services are needed.

I am going to try out a slightly different scoring rubric this time around because some people questioned the quality of the old rubric.

New scoring rubric:

Characters: /20
Plot: /20
Setting: /10
Creativity: /15
Style: /20
Grammar and Spelling: /5
Judges may award up to 10 bonus points if they feel that a story was good, but just didn't fit the rubric well. When awarding bonus points, judges must explain their reasoning (e.g. "I had to take points off because there wasn't much description of the setting, but I don't think describing the setting would have improved the story at all.")

Judges are encouraged to explain their reasoning for all parts of their scoring, but it is only required for bonus points. It is up to the individual judges to decide how much or how little commentary they want to write.

That does make sense and is plausible to work... Maybe give it a try for this one!

I wouldn't tell people it's my puppet.

It's not something I would turn into a requirement for everyone, just something I thought about doing on my own. Other people can make their own decisions about what nation they want to use to post their story. Just nobody use puppets to enter multiple stories and none of the judges use puppets to enter the contest.
