[HS] Modern World:Conflicts Reboot|RP|IC|OPEN

Postby Archangelskl Oblast » Wed Sep 03, 2014 11:18 am

Welcome to Modern World Conflicts, an RP based around running a modern country. Either to be a super power, or into the ground. That's up to you. Build economic empires. Become a nuclear power if you aren't already. Become the nations with the most dairy farms for all I care. Just follow the rules in OOC and carry them to IC. I DONT WANT TO SEE ANY OOC IN THE IC. You will be kicked out for that. And please don't use nukes. There really just game enders and things are no fun when everyone is threatening to push the nuke button. So keep it clean.

Anyway, let's get started with some world issues. Things will heat up fast.

Peoples Republic of China - Possible rebellion. (see OOC for details.)

United Kingdom - The queen has passed away.

United States of America - (See OOC and OP for details.)

United Ireland - Oil shortage.

Russian Federation - Putin has been assassinated by 'Ukrainian' government.

Germany- Economic growth.

Federation of Canada - kidnapping (see OOC OP for details.)

Isreal invades Gaza Strip.

North Korea is pressing closer to South Korea.

South Korea is defending its boarders front North Korea.

Costa Rica still a nice vacation spot.

Iraq, solders have been killed on the boarder. Possible ISIS attacks against boarder guards.

Africa I still in massive civil war.

Iran launches a suspected Military satellite.

France is crippled with widespread riots of suspected. Muslim extremists.
We'll Bang, OK?

Costa Rica to increase milk production. 1st September
President Luis Guillermo Solís has said that the country needs to increase milk production as world demand is going up. "We want to be known as the country who gives us nice fresh tasty milk." he said. We want to be known as a world leader in agriculture. Milk is our first step. Go abroad and look at your pineapples. WHere do they come from? Costa Rica. I promise that our unemployment can be cut to 6.0%. These farms will give jobs to us. The educated, The uneducated. The rich, The poor. The tall and the short. Everybody will be happy from it. Look at Ireland. THey give the world nice milk. Look at America. They are helping countries by buying the milk. Milk is a nice drink which can help economies. We are a leader not a follower. Vivan siempre el trabajo y la paz. Viva Costa Rica! Viva Costa Rica! Long live our land! We are not slaves! We are not afraid! Viva Costa Rica!."

Many critics say what he did was show that he is strong and not a weak leader and that Costa Rica can be a word leader.

London, England
The silent possession moved sololmly along the road, troops stood proud and resplendent in their red tunics and bear skins. They lined the road for well over a mile as the glimmering posession moved slowly past the quite crowds many with faces marked by sad but proud tears. Flags lined the streets and hands of the crowd but the silence could have been broken by a pin falling. The largest crowd in the history of state events had turned out to bid farewell to the Queen who had lead her people and country for longer than most in the crowd had even been alive. For 5 days she had laid in state while thousands paid their respects and now Queen Elizabeth the second made her final journey.

What followed was a massive sermon in St. Paul's paying tribute to her majesty's long and magnificent reign all the change she had seen in her live and the bright future that still lay before our realm thanks to the world the Queen had played her part in making. The massive state event ended in a private royal burial in Westminster abbey as the Queen took her place before her ancestors and forbearers.

In a month the coronation of the now King Charles the third would take place and the people looked forward to the bright future this event would represent.

10 Downing Street, London
David Cameron sat alone in his study reading the numerous economic and international reports in front of him, he placed his head in his hands when it came to the international reports. The world seemed to be quickly turning much darker and bleak even if at last the UK economy was making a clear sign of growth. With the Scottish referendum in mere days he had also pulled forward the EU referendum to please the people who were already glum by the lose of their Queen even he missed the wisdom she offered in their weekly meeting, ones which he would soon also adopt with the new King.

Military:
-The first Queen Elizabeth class carrier begins sea trials and the first batch of planes arrive for the future pilots to train within.
-HMS a Illustrious has been spared the scrap for a extra year to serve as a secondary on call carrier.
-Summer exercises are held on Salisbury plains to train for a conventional conflict.
-The Household regiments begin to prepare for the coronation of the king with daily rehearsals.

International:
-Other Commonwealth realms are invited to send troops to take part in the coronation of King Charles.
-A NATO conference is called for by the UK to discuss the situation in East Europe.
-The UK announces support for South Korea in the tense situation developing.

Domestic:
-MI5 step up their operations to prevent a terror attack occurring from both domestic and international terror threats in this time of numerous state events.

Breaking News: chancellor dead, Ulteranationalists seize control
All across Germany far right wing protests over the German government so called indecisiveness over the Ukraine and ISIS have turned violent. the army has been called into cities such as Berlin and Munich to contain the rioters, the situation is made no better by several police forces standing idly by in support of the movement with some officers even joining the crowd. the government and military sat togather talking over what must be done chancellor Angela Merkel along with several members of parliament said its time to negotiate and see if they could end this unrest while General Fredrick Osmark said theres no talking to these degenerate swine. The night was spent arguing over a solution, What they didnt know is a mole in the government had led a platoon sized force of Ultranationalist to the building where they had met at 3:25 AM they stormed it killing everyone inside. with the government decapitated and the rest fearing for their lives the coalition government stepped down and head of the Ultranationalists Clifford Griffin has been named the new chancellor.

The British government released a press statement condemning the events in Germany and paying tribute to those lost in this most barbaric way. It goes on to condemn the new chancellor and ultranationalist party that has illegally and violently seized power from the legitimate and democratic government of Germany. All ultranationalist party asserts in the UK have been seized.

The Foreign and Commonwealth office issue a warning for all British subjects to evacuate Germany at the earliest opportunity for their own safety and asks the German 'government' for permission for aRoyal Navy ship to enter German ports and pick up British subjects and return them to the UK.

Polls show the recent events in Germany has pushed public opinion even further against continued support for the EU and with he referendum in less than a month the United Kingdoms future within it appears to be coming to an end.

The government received the request from the new Irish government and their new King concerning the sovereignty of Northern Ireland and quickly held a cabinet meeting to discuss this development as we'll as the rise of a IRA backed government in Ireland a direct contradiction of previous peace agreements where the Irish government assured us the IRA would not be supported or allowed a role in government nor politics south of the border.

Troops in the north in light of intelligence that Ireland was building an army have been placed at extended readiness and the police have likewise been placed at alert for the likely actions to be undertaken by the IRA in the north.

To the High King of Ireland and his government

We are willing to discusses terms for peaceful coexistence on the island of Ireland but based upon the last referendum in the north and the agreements previously reached by our two governments we remain staunch in our defence of maintaining Northern Ireland as a fundamental part of the United Kingdom.

Would you agree to a British diplomatic mission to travel to Dublin and discusses what you will with them in the British embassy?

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office

MI6 turned their attention to the developments in Ireland trying to find out how Ireland was financing a growth of near 50,000 men to the Irish Defence Force, along with all the new equipment orders. The preparations for the coronation and referendums were well under with poll booths in Scotland soon to open and others being set up for the soon to occur EU referendum.

The government immigration policy on non EU citizens has faced a major overhaul restricting all but the skilled labour force from immigrating to the UK, but still allowing for people to apply for refugee status. This has drastically reduced the quota number of immigrants entering the United Kingdom and will be further reduced if the UK votes to leave the EU.

The People's Republic of China

Beijing, China
September 4th, 2014
7:12am

The night sky over Beijing had finally been illuminated by the sun that had just began to rise in order start a new day for the People's Republic of China, with it, Xi Jinping rose out of his bed as he began to awaken from his state of grogginess. Another twenty minutes given to him and he was ready to start off the fourth day of the year so that he could bring another year of prosperity to the Red Dragon otherwise known as China.

Moving out of 2013, China was plagued with varying matters of importance that could destabilize the Chinese power over the world economy. With territorial disputes over the Senkaku Islands causing frustrations between the Empire of Japan and the People's Republic, Taiwan's sovereignty pleas driving a thorn in China's side, ongoing Kashmir disputes, the Scarborough Shoal standoff driving a thorn in China's other side, but most importantly, the militarized Xinjiang conflict and Worker Protests plaguing the country's stability.

The small territorial disputes would be solved at a later date, this much Jinping promised to the Chinese people. However, the Xinjiang conflict and the numerous insurgency attacks from the East Turkestan Islamic Movement along with the recent protests of workers would be dealt with immediately. In his response to taking action against the separatist movement, Xi Jinping decided that it would be best to conduct discreet military operations to disrupt the organization's command structure until they become uncentralized and unorganized enough to where they can conduct normal military operations with relative ease.

Then came what would probably be the most complex issue that Xi would face as the leader of the People's Republic of China; a worker's uprising. Intel had came along that some Russian American had began gathering support for worker's rights and convinced the Republic's workers to take over government buildings. Not since the Tienanmen Square incident in the 80's had the Republic seen such dissent against the government. In a swift action to prevent further protesting, Xi Jinping declared martial law and decreed that any and all protesters who do not five themselves up will be immediately shot until disposed of efficiently, all protesters have committed the act of treason and shall be punished by the thoroughest extent of law procedures, beginning with the protest leaders.

Some time later, the reality of martial began to kick in as soldiers deployed began raiding government building that had been occupied by protesters, often open firing to the ones who didn't give themselves up. Tanks rolled down streets to show the government authority as soldiers forced people into their homes so that they wouldn't be caught in the crossfire. By the end of the traumatic experience did seldom protesters advocate their cause, scared for their lives and their family's lives they simply refused to place themselves under that threat again. The government offices that had been occupied of protesters, now was packed with dead bodies that simply overlapped each other. Needless to say, if the protesting hadn't been vanquished then the Worker's Protest had taken a great loss in today's crackdown.

The German army put down most resistance in the first few days, but skirmishes continued and in one such skirmish the resistance took several foreign nationals hostage and hid in a house this group had been a major thorn in the side of the new government so they unleashed mortars upon the house. when military troops came upon it they saw that everyone by resistance and hostage had been killed. The death toll was 1 Austrian man, a British couple and their daughter and a american girl. Griffins government gave out a statement blaming the rebels for the incident and in response to the United Kingdom he said he could not guarantee the safety of foreign citizens or any rescue ship so he denied their plea.

President Luis Guillermo Solís has urged for peace in Korea. He said both countries are threatening each other with mobilising troops and urged for calm and that this could cause a regional war because of the present unrest in China. He also made a statement on China "A Russian American trying to take control of the country? I think he should go away. Leave the Chinese people to decide. If they want Communism, have Communism. The British Government quickly reacted to the developing situation in the Korean peninsular, passing on the Korean request for aid to the highest level of the British military establishment.

To the government of South Korea and their military command

The British government is willing to offer for now military support excluding only the deployment of ground forces, from the British Indian Ocean territory we ask permission for a British fighters and UAV to operate from our or your airfields within South Korean airspace. Furthermore we wish to deploy a limited naval task force involving 2 Trafalgar class submarines, 2 type 45 destroyers, 2 type 23 frigates and 1 Hunt class mine sweeper. This force may increase in time as the situation requires.

Yours sincerely Mr Gladstone, Foreign and Commonwealth office

The naval task force is set to leave Portsmouth within the week bound to make it's way round the cape of Africa and arrive at Korea in just over a month, weather permitting of course. It would be fuelled and supplied on route by the Fleet Auxiliary who may at times attach themselves to the fleet.

Naval Task force ' Operation Imijin'
HMS Torbay
HMS Talent
HMS Daring
HMS Dauntless
HMS Westminster
HMS Northumberland
HMS Middleton

Two further squadrons are moved to be based in the British Indian Ocean territory and the British force in Brunei is placed in a state of extended readiness while the situation lasts.

The results are in for the Scottish referendum and are in favour of Union by a noticeable margin of 19%, as such the attention turns to the upcoming EU referendum which by recent polls appears to have more or less already been decided.

The British government is deeply saddened by the loss of the family in Germany and urges all remaining British subjects to leave the country by any way possible. The government had this to say to the news cameras concerning the reason given by the German government. "We find it highly laudable that the illegal German government who took power by violence and has already worked to remove democracy in the country refers to those fighting them in the name of freedom and the legitimate government as 'rebels' when it is clear to the rest of the world whom the true rebels are, we urge the current 'government' in power to hold a immediate election overseen by the United Nations."

Chancellor Griffin agrees to an a election but to keep the UN out of it
This morning our beloved and gracious chancellor held a conference addressing the nation and the world saying he is not a tyrant and will agree to holding german elections but that the United Nations will hold no part in it. He also stressed to the people that this insurgency will be put down by the end of the year saying " The leftist those plagued our nation sense its reunification will no longer prevent Germany from its destiny" He also addressed the events in Asia saying that once domestic issues are settled they will look into sending assistance to S. Korea and spoke on how he wasnt surprised to see Britain is not sending ground forces because that would require a commitment to cause.

To the High King of Ireland and his ministers

We thank you for the chance to have peaceful and mutual talks concerning Northern Ireland and hope through this talks we can find a way for us to exist with mutual respect and independence.

Me Gladstone, secretary for the Foreign and Commonwealth office

The diplomatic mission involving a young but well respected diplomat from Northern Ireland as it's lead negotiator David McGurin left from London Heathrow to to the a British embassy the instant permission was granted. Upon arrival they immediately made their way to the palace and requested an audience with the High King of South Ireland choosing their words carefully.

In Northern Ireland army and police border patrols have been set up along the border to counter what MI5 is calling a massive growth in the risk of IRA action occurring in the North, and the MOD is concerned by the growth of the Irish Defence Force. The British government has condemned the refusal of the German ultranationalist party to involve external voting investigators from the UN to oversee the upcoming election stating how can we trust a party who seized power by violence to hold a fair election.

Prime Minister's Antechamber

As India slept, Prime Minister Narendra Modi brooded. A broad-shouldered, stocky man of sixty-three, with a bullish, intelligent face, and possessed of an iron will, he was singularly well-suited to lead his nation of 1.2 billion people. He had been up all night, looking at the brief the "chaps over at Intelligence" had prepared for him. For not the first time in the new millennium, the world seemed to be going to the devil. He closed the folder and grunted; he had made up his mind. A jab at a button on his massive teak table caused his aide, Hareram Ray, to appear. The Prime Minister appraised the lanky Hareram, and said, "Ring up Narasimha, will you? My compliments and ask him to bring along Gen. Singh. Right now, if possible." The aide left, closing the door behind him. Modi sat down and reached for his tea. Finding the pot empty, he sighed; and rang for Hareram again.

Berlin September 5th 2:00 PM

With the announcement that there would be elections for chancellor and that the remnants of both the Social Democrats and the Christian Democrat parties were allowed to take part in the election at first brought Hans Derlict a sense of joy.Even though the Ex-GSG 9 operative was a avid Ultranationalist and sponsor for the party, he liked that his party was allowing the people to choose but as the day went on and he talked to people he realized most of Germany saw both parties as cowards for how they melted away when the Ultranationalists took over as much as some hated Clifford Griffin they respected how smoothly he came to power with such few few initial causalities and has sp quickly pushed the rebels into the eastern german countryside.

Irish Border
2,000 IDF troops had been moved to the border to keep British soldiers from launching a possible suprise attack, 100 of these soldiers are officers trained by the new german reich as well as 15 artillery guns and 27 tanks.
Already people had been gathering in Dublin Square in hopes of joining the Army to show ther support for the new true Irish government, the recruitin office simply couldn't handle it the polls had shown that up to 1.23 million men were willing to join the army however this wouldn't be possible since Ireland needs people to keep farming and working in her favtorys to keep industry and labor alive.

David and his 2 clerks looked around them uncertain where to sit this was very unusual to them but they decided it was best to do as this King wanted so they found some seats they were directed to not far from the head table and cautiously begun to eat but they drunk very little so as to maintain their wits for the coming negotiations. They could feel some very hostile stares beating down on them but they carried on none the less. It was customary for the civil service to toast the monarchy prior to a meal abroad but this time they kept the toast silent and hoped no one noticed.

David turned to the Kings table and watched this 'king' in his habitat trying to read what kind of a man he was and waiting for a notice that talks can commence.

The task force for Operation Imijin departed today for the British Indian Ocean territory and hen onward to Korea, added to the task force was HMS Bulwark and a battalion strength of marines, this ship and battalion would stay on Diego Garcia until needed where they would join the task force.

To the Indian Minister of Defence and President

Our two nations share a mutual period of history together and in the early days of your independence we offered military training and support we hope we can re-establish this relationship and that you would allow us to open a base on the Indian mainland to train your troops whilst operating as a joint airfield.

Together we can ensure our two nations work together to protect our national interests in the Asian continent.

The flight line spurred with activity as the F-15Es of the 48th Fighter Wing began on another of the joint exercises. Supported by KC-135s and E-3s from NATO partner nations and the UK in particular, the strike fighter wing in England could easily respond to any crisis in Europe and could make a hop across the Irish Sea in under a few hours, and with well, another crisis in Northern Ireland imminent, the F-15Es were well within range of Dublin.

The 2-seat fighter was formidable, with extensive service during the Gulf Wars, the Yugoslav Wars, and in Afghanistan, the Strike Eagle, had a talent of penetrating highly defended airspace and putting precision guided ordinance on target at Supersonic speeds, and this had only been bolstered by the addition of the SDB (Small Diameter Bomb) and the JHMCS, providing the USAF with sustainable, and dependable aircover for any force in the British Isles or in Europe.

Modi's response to China

Postby The Tory Islands » Thu Sep 04, 2014 7:55 am

4th September, 2014; 4:25 AM.

South Block, Secretariat Building, Raisina Hill, New Delhi.

Prime Minister's Antechamber

General Vijay Singh, Commander-in-Chief, Central Command (Indian Army), was seated at the polished teak table. Beside him sat Prof. Richard Masterman, Minister of Finance, Narasimha Rao, Minister of Defence, Dr. D. S. Hooda, Minister of External Affairs, and Dr. Kishan Ramanujan, Minister of Communications. They all listened intently as the Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid out the problems that faced the world now. Things had gone from bad to worse very quickly, and the General quirked his eyebrows at Modi's strategic understanding. He was impressed. Four years liaising for the preceding vacillating, naive UPA government had tired him. Here, he thought, was someone sympathetic to the military dimensions of rule. He smiled, a fleeting ghost of a smile.

Modi was wrapping up his brief: "So, gents, to sum up: Pakistan is faced with unrest and possible civil war; the Chinese have stomped down on dissent far too many times and are now facing a workers' and peoples' liberation movement [smirks among the assembled]; North Korea is acting up again - which has caused our Firengi friends to despatch a fleet to the region; and Israel could use some moral support right about now. So... what is our agenda to be?"

Narasimha Rao spoke first: "Gentlemen, what should concern us most is, of course, China. Regardless of the fact that the CCP had it coming [here, a grunt from Dr. Ramanujan], it is in our best interests to keep the Chinese government in charge. Muslim rebels from Uighur or rioting workers may capture the popular imagination - as I am sure they have [nodding to the report on sympathetic Facebook posts prepared jointly by IB and Dr. Ramanujan's department] - but they cannot be trusted with stockpiles of heavy weapons. I say we watch where the China situation goes and react accordingly."

Modi said, "Hm. Will Dr. Hooda tell us what may be the possible outcomes of this unrest?"

Dr. Hooda adjusted his glasses and said, his Jat pronunciation sharp and clear, "Well, if you are expecting the CCP to collapse, they won't; the rebels are a problem, sure; but the Chinese are adept at putting down revolts - that's what they do. What we can hope for, however, is that the CCP will be further discredited in the eyes of the population - there may follow a gradual erosion of power. But we don't know; we can't say. Internationally, had there been a strong moral alliance of the West, we could've hoped for trade sanctions. But the international arena has lost much of its potency. Their attention is concentrated on North Korea, Gaza, the Ukraine, Syria, and Russia - they won't care if a million Chinese peasants die."

Modi nodded, and motioned General Singh to speak. General Singh said, "I advise that we move two more squadrons of fighters closer to the LAC; and relocate the 1st Mountain Strike Corps to Arunachal Pradesh. Additionally, it would not be amiss to move INS Satpura, our only naval asset in the region, closer to the Korean peninsula - that would let the Brits, the Japs, the Americans, and NATO know that we're with them." Prof. Richard Masterman, a retired Anglo-Indian professor of economics at Delhi University said, "And I suppose, General, that you could really do with more ships and jets?" Excellent company, this, thought the General. He said, "the Armed Forces would be obliged if you could speed up the arms acquisitions in progress."

The meeting broke up with each moving to his secure telephone terminal. It was going to be a busy day.

Dublin, Ireland
David felt this way of diplomacy odd no private room no closed doors a feasting hall full of nationalist Irish officials, he carried on heedlessly. "We understand your conviction sir but we defend the will of the majority in Northern Ireland who do not wish to be a part of the Kingdom of Ireland but want to remain British. Your threats will not stand sir we have already defended the north once in our history and will if provoked defend it once more, as for Germany I don't feel you are in a position to speak on their behalf on such a serious threat. Believe me sir we have no ambitions to retake the rest of Ireland but if we are forced we will see of your force and will turn our attention back to this Kingdom."

At that he and his men stood, turning briskly towards the door, " you can find me at the embassy if you wish to discuss further, but I feel today's talks are over." As he reached the door he cried "long live King Charles of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland" he made sure to properly shout the last part in defiance as he made his way to leave.

Mikhail Andropov
11:30am
September 4th..

Mikhail Andropov smiled as he woke to the sight of his wife. Her black hair, messy and bunched on her pillow. It was still almost 10:30am as the sun was high in the sky. It was Mikhail's half day Holiday. An annual promise he made to himself to take a break from work for a while and tend to his wife's needs.

Slowly Mikhail slipped out of bed, attempting not to wake his wife. He and his wife ad lived alone ever since there son, Yuri had left for the GRU last December. There daughter Oksana left for the FSB many years ago and hasn't been in contact since. After a short shower, Mikhail slipped on his trousers and then his belt. Turing on his television with a free hand. Wile he assembled the rest of his attire Mikhail stood watching his television. As the honorable president Vladimir Putin spoke to a crowd in an open room. The press could be heard chattering in the background. It was a Live press conference, over what Mikhail caught, was about the Ukrainian situation. Looking away to button his shirt Mikhail jolted at the sound of a gun shot. Quickly Andropov looked up at his television, eyes wide with terror.. Body guards now surrounding the President who lay in a pool of his own crimson. The press was scattering and many could be herd screaming in panic! "God.." Andropov whispered.. The news caster could be heard yelling over the crowds, "The President has been shot! The president has been sho--!" three more shot could be heard following up by a FSB agent firing at a man.. Who was screaming something in Ukrainian. Andropov swung around as he heard his wife coming down stairs. Quickly he tucked his shirt in and pulled his business coat from the closet. Before his wife had said a work he kissed her and jogged for the door and on his way to work in the capital...
