The Empire of Tyrrin wishes to send a diplomat to your embassy. We wish to continue our strong regional alliance.

We are sending Garreth Hines, who negotiated our war with Terthia, and succeeded in bringing that nation under our control as a protectorate. He will be accompanied by five assistants.

We would be delighted if the glorious nation of Urgench would send an emissary to Tyrrin.

To His Excellency Nogai, Khan of Tabagatai, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Urgench; From His Majesty al-Ḥajjāj ibn Yūsuf ath-Thaqafī, Sheikh of Diplomatic Initiatives

Dearest Sir,

Recently, the Caliphate has been drawing into closer and more formal relations with your close ally, the Autonomous Principality of Nakchevan and Arjish. As we have done so, we felt it prudent to also reach out to your state, sir, so that we may at last initiate formal diplomatic relations; and with a state that somehow sits astride our own paralell timeline, no less. For this endeavor, we are prepared to send the esteemed Mir Yahya Hakam al-Ghazzal. We can assure you that this man is fit for the duties ahead of him; he was once an emissary to the Basileia ton Romaîon, sent to secure their agreement for a partition of Anatolia, a feat that we can assure you he succeeded in. The good sir should not have any needs to overtly taxing or irksome; he will simply need to be supplied with sustenance that is halal, and if this is too difficult we are more than willing to make arrangements to fly such food and drink in from the Caliphate.

In addition, we would like to express our willingness, and indeed desire for an ambassador of the Sublime Khanate to make his residence in the Caliphate. Should you choose to send such a man, we will go to great expense to ensure that he is given an ideal spot in the Old District of Dimashq, in a newly constructed embassy building that awaits his or her interior design whims. In any case, we hope that this exchange can mark the beginning of a profitable relationship between our two states for many, many years to come.

Peace be upon you

F.A.O. His Majesty al-Ḥajjāj ibn Yūsuf ath-Thaqafī, Sheikh of Diplomatic Initiatives from his Excellency Nogai, Khan of Tabagatai, Minister for Foreign Affairs for the Confederated Sublime Khanate of Urgench

Your Majesty, it gives me great pleasure to accept the request of the Caliphate for diplomatic representation within the CSKU. His Excellency Ambassador al-Ghazzal's letters of recommendation are to be presented before his Divine Majesty the Emperor at the next full meeting of the Divan and is welcomed as a friend to the Empire.

For the Caliphate's embassy premises we have made two properties available. The first is the Palace of the White Peacock, which is located in the Old Kasbah of the summer capital Tabriz. This extremely luxurious dwelling was once the home of the Khans of Yarkisbashir, it is exceedingly large and very beautiful, built in the elaborate and ornate late Kuchean Baroque style popular in the 19th century in Urgench. the Palace of the White Peacock is famous for its gardens filled with exotic and rare plants, and its collection of 12th century Kuchean bronzes ( one of which being the eponymous "white peacock" ) and is more than adequate to serve as both residence and chancery for your embassy.

The second property we have made available is the Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania ( a now extinct line of our empire's European aristocracy) . This extremely large dwelling is located on the outskirts of Tabriz and is surrounded by an extensive park and garden. The Palace is famous for being built to replicate the Grand Duke's home in Lithuania and is built in the late European Gothic style popular in the late 15th century. the Palace contains a priceless collection of ancient European weaponry and armour and is more than adequate to serve as both residence and chancery.

Please let me know which of these premises will most suit the Caliphate at your earliest convenience.

With regard to his Excellency Ambassador al-Ghazzal's dietary requirements, he will find no difficulty in availing himself of any kind of Halal produce he may need, indeed should he wish it I will also provide wild animals hunted from my estates in Siberia which will have been properly slaughtered and prepared to remain in compliance with Halal requirements to supplement his table.

The Divan is currently discussing whom it wishes to send to the Caliphate as Ambassador and I will be able to provide your Excellency with details and recommendations as soon as the next sitting of the Divan has taken place.

Yours, Nogai, Khan of Tabagatai, Minister for Foreign Affairs for the Confederated Sublime Khanate of Urgench.

Your Majesty,

After careful and due consideration on the part of The Glorious Amir al-Muminin, Caliph Mu'awiyah I, the Caliphate wishes to sincerely request the Palace of the White Peacock as the residence of the humble Mir al-Ghazzal. We feel that this palace, with its exquisite plants and admirable displays of art, will well suit the temperament of the good emissary, and we are certain that he will be delighted to hear of our selection for him. We hope to begin the process of moving the man and his entourage in as soon as we have your approval. On a related note, the Caliphate awaits the announcement of your esteemed ambassador with patience and excitement; and whoever he may be we are certain that he will feel at home here in our country.

Peace be upon you

Hines grew up in the cultured city of Coranto, where he studied foreign affairs at the most prestigious University of Coranto (after serving thirty years in the military, of course, as is required by Tyrrinian law). He was appointed Junior Secretary to the Head of Foreign Affairs shortly afterwards for a brief period of time. After realizing his potential, the Grand Emporer himself made Hines the Head Ambassador to Hostile Nations, where he succesfully negotiated the war against Terthia, and settled the agreement that made Terthia become a protectorate of Tyrrin, which became know afterwards as the Hines Accord. As one of our more experienced emissaries, he is more than capable of communicating with the great nation of Urgench. We hope that officials from your nation will share our views.

Your Majesty, though you do me honour I am not a King or an Emperor there is no need to call me "Majesty", "Excellency" is quite sufficient for someone of my rank and position.

With regard to His Excellency Ambassador al-Ghazzal's installation in the Palace of the White Peacock, the palace awaits his pleasure and his Excellency's credentials have been presented before the Emperor at Divan, and have been found more than acceptable. The Empire awaits his Excellency's arrival with much excitement.

As I say the Divan has met, and it has been decided that i should recommend to His Reverence the Caliph, in the name of His Divine Majesty the Emperor, and in the name of his August Mother, the Dowager Empress Sorghakhtani, and in the name of His Divine Majesty's Government her Imperial Highness Princess Goland Guyensayag Timuri, Queen of Assam, and Princess Imperial of the Confederated Sublime Khanate of Urgench as our Ambassador to the Caliphate.

Her Imperial Highness is a niece of His Divine Majesty, the eldest daughter of his youngest brother, and is a close confidant of the Emperor and a good friend of the Grand Chancellor of the Empire, Tamerlane Khan of Samarkand and Bhukhara.

Princess Goland , is a Queen in her own right of the vassal kingdom of Assam and has also ruled several city states within the Crownlands of the Sublime Khanate since her majority. Her Imperial Highness attended the Imperial Cadet college in Tabriz and went on the read Anthropology and South East Asian Languages at the University of the Empire at Khodzhent. Her Imperial Highness has spent her adult life in service to the Empire first in various positions in the Ministry of Indo-Parthian Affairs and then as Chief Adviser to the Commission for Trans-Himalayan Affairs.

Her Imperial Highness is a renowned Archeao-Linguist and has published several scholarly works on the ancient tongues of south east Asia. Princess Goland has also won eighteen medals of honour for her work as a Sculptor from the Imperial Academy, she is the Patroness of several international charities and is a renowned Horse rider and Archer.

We have no doubt that her Imperial Highness will act as an astute and subtle conduit for the growth in mutual amity between the Caliphate and the Confederated Sublime Khanate.

Yours sincerely, Nogai, Khan of Tabagatai, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Confederated Sublime Khanate of Urgench

For the attention of His Excellency, Nogai, Khan of Tabagatai, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Urgench, a communiqué from Tarsten Herman, Minister of Foreign Affairs on behalf of the Pontivan Government

Dear Sir,

On behalf of the Government of Pontiva, and the Pontivan people as a collective whole, I have been tasked with discussing possible diplomatic relations between our two nations through the establishment of an embassy within your country. If you approve such actions, we would hope to despatch Oscar Harrison to head the diplomatic mission. A brief biography is attached below:

Oscar Harrison was born in the Pontivan city of Bad Felsigestal on July 24th, 1968. He was educated at Bad Felsigestal College and Pontivan Central University where he read history and modern politics. Following his graduation, he spent two years as an intern within the Ministry of the Interior before becoming a speech-writer to the Minister of Justice. He was later transferred to the Diplomatic Corp where he attended a variety of meetings and gatherings with senior government officials. Recently selected to head a diplomatic mission, if accepted this would be his first posting as an ambassador in a foreign nation.

I hope you find Mr. Harrison a suitable individual for such a role, and I await your reply.

Yours faithfully,

Tarsten Herman

Dear Sir or Madame, his Excellency, Ambassador Hines's credentials have been presented before the Divan and been found more than suitable. For the Empire of Tyrrin's Embassy the Palace of the Hereditary Governors of Baichow has been made available. This palace is located in the Old Kasbah of the summer capital, Tabriz. Built as a palatial town house for a now defunct line of officials, it is very beautiful and was built in the high classical Chinese style fashionable in the 18th century in our Sino-Mongolian provinces, it is more than adequate to serve as both residence and chancery. I hope this will prove a convenient arrangement.

Please let me know if your Excellency has any further requests or inquiries.

Yours sincerely, Nogai, Khan of Tabagatai, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Urgench.

Your Excellency, your humility in being addressed sets you above countless Baselioi and Shahs that i have had the displeasure to meet in my career.

On the subject of her Imperial Highness the Princess, I can tell you that I presented her long and exulted portfolio to his Reverence the Caliph himself, and I can assure that upon reading the credentials he was overjoyed that the Sublime Khanate considered the Caliphate worthy of such an esteemed and noble ambassador, and he ordered that a feast of all of the most delicate and rare cuisine be prepared for her arrival. Her Embassy, which was designed in the style of a neo-modern Byzantine palace, has been painstakingly designed by a team of the Caliph's decorators so that it will be suited to her tastes in decoration and design. If you or her Imperial highness have any further questions or comments, please feel free to forward them to me at your convenience.

Peace be upon you

The Republic of Estnorden is very interested in the establishment of bilateral relations with the Heavenly Porte in order to make even stronger the international influence of our nation, after the cruel dictatorship our people have suffered in the last 50 years. For that reason we would like to open a Representation of our country in Heavenly Porte.
Mr. Piter Nowak has been selected to be our ambassador to your country.

Piter Nowak was born in Korolgraad (a city near the Esnordian capital city, Pitergraad) in 1979. He spent his childhood in the humble neighbourhood of Yugozapadnee. He studied basic and medium education in the Institute Nº 83 of Korolgraad (now named Institute Democracy). After that he began his studies in history and philology in the University of Pitergraad. Once the Republic was found in Estnorden he was selected for the first master-doctorate in diplomacy in the Diplomatic School of Estnorden. Finishing #5 of his class he was able to practice for 24 months in the Ministry of International Affairs. During his stage in the MIA he has worked for the Embassies Department in the URFRE (Unit of Relations with Foreign Representations in Estnorden).

Your Excellency, I am pleased to tell you that the Divan has decided that diplomatic relations with Pontiva would be of great efficacy to both the CSKU and Pontiva and has accordingly accepted your government's request for an Embassy.

His Excellency, Ambassador Harrison's credentials have been presented at the last meeting of the Divan and have been found more than acceptable.

For the premises of the Embassy of Pontiva the Palace of the Hereditary Governors of Sundyong has been made available. This opulent dwelling , located in the Goldsmiths Quarter of our summer capital, Tabriz, is built in the extravagant Turko-Persian revival style popular in Urgench in the 18th century, and is more than adequate to serve as both Residence and Chancery. The Palace of the Hereditary Governors of Sundyong is famous for its collection of late medieval Korean paintings and its location on the street of the Gold Exchange which is one of the most beautiful avenues in Tabriz.

Please let me know if this arrangement will suit your Excellency.

As Ambassador to the CSKU, we would like to appoint Natalie Cascadden, who has served as Undersecretary of the Glen-Rhodes Intelligence Agency for seventeen years, before retiring to her villa in Great Hathaway. Although the specific details of her work cannot be released, she specialized in political strategy for allies abroad. With her, the regular 45 secretaries, lawyers, administrative and service staff will be sent to the embassy in the CSKU.

Whether or not the CSKU accepts this request, we strongly encourage the CSKU to seek the establishment of an embassy through Glen-Rhodes' own Embassy Program.

F.A.O. His Excellency, the Honorable Dr. Bradford William Castro, Chief Ambassador of the Glen Rhodes Foreign Affairs Agency, from the office of His Excellency, Nogai, Khan of Tabagatai, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Confederated Sublime Khanate of Urgench.

Your Excellency, It would give me great pleasure to accept your request for the opening of formal relations between Glen Rhodes and the CSKU and indeed it is my sincere hope to be able to do so, however our requirements for the recognition of Ambassador's credentials have not been met by those your Excellency has provided in respect of her Excellency Ms. Cascadden.

Perhaps if Glen Rhodes could send an Ambassador with a less classified career history the Divan might be able to make a more informed decision regarding the appropriateness of their posting to the Sublime Khanate, which as your Excellency is doubtless aware might represent a rather complicated and demanding undertaking.

Perhaps I should also point out that, with one or two rare exceptions, the Divan does not usually accept the credentials of Ambassador's who's careers have been spent in Security or Intelligence agencies or Secret Services.

The Divan is however predisposed to be optimistic about the opening of formal relations between our states, and it would happily accept the credentials of a more suitable Ambassador.

Yours, Nogai, Khan of Tabagatai, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Confederated Sublime Khanate of Urgench.

From the Offices of the Chief Ambassador of the Glen-Rhodes Foreign Affairs Agency, the Honorable Dr. Bradford William Castro,

Forgive the nomination of Ms. Cascadden, if it was inappropriate. The Foreign Affairs Agency has not had the luxury of establishing embassies abroad for quite some time, after the former President Jonathan Briarfield disrupted our comfortable relations overseas by declaring foreign embassies illegitimate. It was, then, common practice to send those Ambassadors that would be able to work more closely with foreign officials in... a variety of fields, we would say.

After careful consideration, we rescind our nomination of Ms. Cascadden and nominate Mr. Perry Meijer. Mr. Meijer is a former official with the Foreign Affairs Agency. He headed the Overseas Commerce Organization, a subsidiary of the FAA that establishes and maintains friendly commercial relationships with foreign states. Currently, he works for a non-governmental organization called Cambrian International, an international poverty relief organization.

As previously noted, the traditional staff of 45 secretaries, lawyers, administrative and service staff will be sent to the embassy in Urgench, along with Mr. Meijer, should the Divan accept. To reiterate, it would be the honor of Glen-Rhodes to further establish formal diplomatic relations with Urgench by constructing an Urgenchi embassy within Grand Port, via Glen-Rhodes' Embassy Program.

F.A.O. His Excellency the Honorable Dr. Bradford William Castro, Chief Ambassador of the Glen Rhodes Foreign Affairs Agency, from his Excellency, Nogai, Khan of Tabagatai, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Confederated Sublime Khanate of Urgench.

Your Excellency, honoured Ambassador Meijer's credentials have been presented before the Divan and have been found to be most appropriate. The CSKU looks forward to his Excellency's arrival, and to the new era of friendly relations his presence will hopefully inaugurate.

The Divan has made two properties available to the government of Glen Rhodes for its Embassy. The First is the Palace of the Silver Lotus, which was once the home of the Khan's of Hazarkand which dynasty is now extinct. The Palace of the Silver Lotus is located in the Perfumer's district of the summer capital, Tabriz, and is renowned as one of the most beautiful and luxurious dwellings in a city of magnificent and spectacular palaces. The Palace of the Silver Lotus was built during the reign of Emperor Negubei ( "The Builder" ) in the 16th century in the then fashionable High Turkic Baroque style. The Palace is famous for it's elaborate water gardens in which silver and gold plants and animals serve as fountains and incense burners. The Silver lotus from which the Palace derives its name is located in these gardens. The Palace is more than adequate to serve as both residence and Chancery for the Embassy of Glen Rhodes.

The second property is the Residence of the Princes of Lodomeria which is located in the suburb of Gorhain on the outskirts of Tabriz. This extremely substantial property consists of a castle built in the late Eastern European Gothic style popular in the late 15th century in Urgench's European provinces, and numerous other ancillary buildings and a large park and gardens which include a lake and part of a former hunting forest. The Residence of the Princes of Lodomeria is famous for its library and grand dinning hall, and it's collection of European antiquities of the late medieval and early renaissance period. The Residence of the Princes of Lodomeria is more than adequate to serve as both residence and chancery and indeed would provide enough housing for the entire staff of Glen Rhodes's embassy.

Please let me know which of these properties would most suit the government of Glen Rhodes. I have attached a guide and map of Tabriz to help your Excellency in making this decision, Gorhain is not marked on the map but it is north east of the outskirts of the New Town.

We will be recommending an Ambassador to Glen Rhodes with all due hast, I await the orders of the Divan in this matter and will offer our Ambassador's credentials as soon as possible.

I have spoken to Mr. Meijer, and he would prefer the Gorhain residence. With the establishment of a Glen-Rhodes embassy within Urgench, I sincerely hope that the past grievances between our states may stay in the past, and any future ones may be quickly remedied through our diplomatic offices.

Thank you Nogai, Khan of Tabagatai, and be sure to send thanks to the Divan and Ambassador Mongkha for me. From this point onward, I will not be the one communicating, unless some extraordinary circumstances call for it, but Ambassador Meijer shall take that post.

At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Tabriz, the Khan of Tabagatai and an enormous host of dignitaries, officials, khans, Princesses, Ministers and assorted other notables and worthies awaits the arrival of the Caliphate's Sheikh of Diplomatic Initiatives.

Nogai is resplendent in flowing midnight blue silk robes and sables, he wears the yellow gold crown of Tabagatai on his head, he is most optimistic about the outcome of this visit, especially since the Divan has decided to make the Sheikh extremely welcome and has settled upon a course of assiduously courting the Caliphate's friendship.

The Sheikh arrived at the Ministry in triumphant panoply of servants, functionaries, undersecretaries, and the odd guard or two. Having rarely left the Umayyad Continent, much less Lavinium, he felt a slight looming uneasiness at being in such foreign territory, even as he realized that he was ironically not in unfamiliar territory at all. Rather, his experience in flying to the Khanate had been bizarre, as if traveling into the future; he had flown over Jerusalem and Ctesiphon only to fly over them again a few hours later. Despite this assortment of feelings which could only be described as déjà vu, he was determined to appear cool, professional, and collected at all times in Urgench. With his courtiers and servants in tow, he approached the Khan and gave him a deep and respectful bow. "Your Excellency, I cannot describe to you what pleasure it brings me in being here in the Sublime Khanate at last. I am very excited to begin these discussions and, God willing, we can perhaps accomplish something productive here today."

Nogai bows deeply and smiles broadly at the Sheikh, "Welcome to Tabriz your Majesty, the City of Palaces, the Crown of the World as it is known salutes you, as do I and the government of Urgench, and most importantly so does his Divine Majesty the Emperor, my cousin, who has may the unheard of request to meet you your Majesty. I cannot remember the last time his Divine Majesty met with anyone outside of his family and servants. We will do great work here your Majesty, and the Caliphate and the Khanate will bless your decision to accept our invitation." Nogai smiles even more broadly, as an entire troop of richly dressed captains of the Imperial guard approach all bearing dozens and dozens of caskets and boxes, "These are some tokens of our esteem for your Majesty, gems and jewels from Hindustan and the Himalayas and the Ural mountains, musk and perfumes to last your Majesty several lifetimes, and 40,000 sable pelts of the most exquisite quality." Nogai waves his bejewelled hand over the myriad of caskets as they are opened revealing a fortune in treasures and luxuries.

"Shall we retire to a place of comfort your Majesty ? " Nogai asks.

The Sheikh was left speechless by the bountiful assortment of gifts and valuables presented to him, and although he was suitable impressed he was not at all surprised. Not only was the wealth of Urgency famous throughout all the world, but the Caliph had warned Yūsuf that the Urgenchi would likely go overboard to impress and the Sheikh and, more importantly, overwhelm his sensibilities so as to disarm him from making an educated decision. The Sheikh was determined not to let this happen. He gave another gracious bow. "If you are prepared to retreat to a more private place then I will not at all hesitate to follow you." He swept a hand toward the bowels of the Ministry. "Lead the way, Your Excellency."

The Sheikh and the Khan walk through the great reception hall of the ministry, ornate and beautiful all, made of pink and cream marbles, and they pass the crowd of Urgenchis all dressed in extraordinary silks and furs and jewels pungent with exotic fragrances who all bow deeply to the Sheikh. They pass the forty foot high bronze statue of Tengri Khaghan ,the Founder, and pass in to the endless corridors of the ministry.

The group arrives at two enormous doors ornately carved from king wood and set with other exotic woods showing the vast concourse of persons present at the signing of the Treaty of Derbent. The doors are opened and the Khan and Sheikh enter the Library of the Ministers for Foreign Affairs, the room is filled with beautifully carved wooden bookcases and elegant tables. The windows on either side of the long library look out on beautiful gardens and fountains.

The Khan and the Sheikh sit down at one of the larger reading tables, refreshments and sweetmeats are brought to the table.

"Your Majesty, your communications with her Imperial Highness the Queen of Assam suggest that you may be confused as to why we have invited you here. I am slightly confused then myself, since it seems perfectly logical that two great states as profoundly alike as ours are should be closely connected through bonds of friendship and mutual regard. If we have not made that clear before now then your Majesty has my deepest and sincerest apology.

The situation in Lavinium may have given the Caliphate the wrong impression of the Sublime Khanate and its aims internationally speaking. I hope I can completely dispel that misapprehension."

Having been in the middle of sipping a glass of water, the Sheikh simply raised his eyebrows in response to the Khan. Finishing the beverage, he took a satisfied breath and sat back in his chair, placing himself in his trademark cross-legged pose. "Indeed, Your Excellency, you might have assumed that is why I have been invited here...if I were one to trust men to speak frankly. However, I am afraid I am not such a man. I work in diplomacy, Your Excellency, and diplomacy is an art that revolves around ulterior meanings and outright untruths. You must forgive me if I am the least bit skeptical of your intentions, especially since this outreach comes at a very late hour indeed."

The Sheikh interlaced his fingers and adjusted himself in his chair. "The situation in Lavinium is growing quite distressing indeed. I will not and need not hide from you that I have come to be quit wary of the Oriental League and their ambitions. Quite frankly, it shouldn't be much of a surprise either. Think about it for a moment, Your Excellency. The Oriental League is specifically named in reference to hegemony of Eastern nations, your banner is designed to epose Eastern opulence and strike fear in the hearts of the West, and so far the crowning achievement of the League has been a military campaign that has done little to benefit any outside of the Oriental League. I hope that God and thee can forgive me for my mistrust, but surely you must see that the Oriental League does not present the most comforting face to her neighbors."
