War Ministry: Orbital Nukes "A Dangerous Game"

Hudson A recent orbital nuclear test brought the Royal Security Forces to a heightened state of alert and drew a fresh round of condemnations from the region's governments, further adding to what a War Ministry spokesperson described as "a hairtrigger situation" in Eastern Pardes.

"Royal Flying Service and Royal Army advance-monitoring stations detected an intercontinental ballistic missile launch at approximately two-thirty this morning," spokesperson Colonel Stephen Moore said, reading from prepared remarks. "In accordance with established protocols, rapid response elements of the Royal Security Forces were called to a state of heightened readiness for approximately one hour and forty-five minutes. At that time, analysis of satellite data showed the trajectory of the launch to be non-threatening to the Home Island and indicated that further launches were unlikely. As a result, the heightened readiness alert was canceled, and normal operations resumed. The Royal Security Forces will continue to monitor the situation for further developments." Moore declined to answer press inquiries, citing "the sensitive and ongoing nature of the situation."

A statement released later this afternoon from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated the Government's commitment to de-escalation, but appeared to soften its stance somewhat, conceding that the Sutadotazu government "appeared to be acting in legitimate good faith" in its ventures.

"His Majesty's Government continues to condemn nuclear testing in this present climate," spokesperson Henry Grant stated. "Fundamentally, our position has not and will not change. Still, we must give credit where it is due and commend the Sutadotazu government on an organisation which, while not perfect, has taken all good-faith steps to mitigate risk to international assets and appears to have been organised with a legitimate scientific outlook in mind." Grant offered no further comment on OPA Resolution 0010, though sources close to the Prestonian mission to the OPA stated that passage was considered "a near certainty."

Pomp, Circumstance and Politics: An Interview With the Nation's Most Unlikely Reformer

By Adrian Paul

Hudson Interviewing a King of Prestonia just isn't done. Any first-year reporter working a community affairs beat knows this; the Crown Bureau of Press and Media Inquiries has steadfastly refused direct interviews of the King. Perhaps it's understandable, then, that when I told my boss at The Gazette that I was going to try and get an interview, I was nearly laughed out of the building. "You have fun with that," he said "and when you're done I have a Yeti in Twickenham that's dying for some exposure." I need not belabor the point; getting King Charles III to agree to an interview was going to be difficult.

And indeed it was. No appeal to the King's media handlers came to any fruition; their response was always the same. "His Majesty," their stiff-upper-lipped staff had told me, "does not deign to discuss His personal feeling with commoners." That last word stung, though surely none was more common than I. Wasn't this the attitude our King had claimed, at his Coronation, to be fighting? Was this truly how His Majesty regarded his subjects? I've always been stubborn. A trait that never helped me in school, but was invaluable as an investigative reporter. Undeterred, I wrote a letter to His Majesty directly. Days, then weeks passed. I wondered if he'd gotten it; I imagined not. Surely, I reasoned, the King had a private secretary, perhaps a legion of them, sifting out letters like mine. It was nearly a month later when the vellum envelope sealed with the Royal Great Seal came to me. It took a few days to process what I held in my hand; a few more were required before I was brave enough to open it. When I did, my heart nearly jumped from my throat. There, in ornate cursive handwriting, was an invitation to "be in the Presence of His Majesty the King," with an RSVP date. Without a second thought, I hastily wrote out my RSVP and mailed it. I thought I was in; little did I know my adventure was only just beginning.

A few weeks later, the Crown Bureau of Press and Media Inquiries rang me. "Be in Hudson in three days," the voice on the other end had said. "We will go over some ground rules before your arrangement." Curious, and a bit uneasy, I arrived at the prescribed location, a posh hotel in Downtown, where a room had been reserved for me. An hour later, a rather stiff-looking woman I recognized from the Bureau's front office came to pay a visit. Here, I found out what "ground rules" meant. "You will submit your list of questions to the Bureau for approval prior to interview," she had said. "You will refrain from addressing any controversial topics during your interview." "You will publish your comments in full only to organisations cleared by this Bureau." These and an endless litany of etiquette pointers ("you may not make direct contact with His Majesty unless His Majesty initiates") swam in my head as I half-paid attention to this woman. The failure of any of these conditions, I was told, was grounds for revocation of my "privilege." After an endless list of pointers and forms, I agreed to the Bureau's conditions; secretly, I wondered if this was all worth it. Finally, my minder was satisfied. "You will have one hour in His Majesty's presence, next Monday at 11 o'clock AM. Dress smartly. Do not be late."

I arrived at the Palace of Grantham, true to my instructions, at ten-fifteen that morning. The Captain of the Watch seemed especially interested in my press pass, and seemed to take an eternity before admitting me. I was received by a uniformed Footman of the Guard in ceremonial dress and escorted to a room identified to me as the parlour, though it looked to me large and opulent enough to be a ballroom. A few minutes later, another ceremonially-robed man who identified himself as the Lord Castellan summoned me, leading me through a grand hallway to a drawing room, this one carrying an off-blue motif with a light, airy feel. "His Majesty is an accomplished sketch artist," the Castellan said as much to the room as to me in particular. "He often spends many hours in deep contemplation in this room and others like it. They each carry a different motif, to catch the muses that may strike Him." I nodded at this, not knowing quite how to respond. "His Majesty will be in attendance shortly," he continued.

A few minutes later, the trumpet call and crier announced the man I'd come to see. "Hail, Charles of the House Beaufort, Third of the name, By Right King of Prestonia and All Her Realms," the man intoned. "Hail, and long may He reign," I recited, using the words I'd been taught. On command, we bowed deeply until commanded to rise by the King. While far from a Republican, I felt the gestures strangely out of place with a modern system; I wondered if anyone else felt the same. After a spell, the remaining footmen, Castellan and entourage departed. Now, it was just me and the country's most powerful man.

King Charles III has a youthful-yet-aged look about him that makes placing his age with certainty difficult; he could as easily be entering his thirties as his forties. He is smartly dressed in civilian attire; unique among recent monarchs, Charles never attended a military academy and does not wear the uniform in any context. For an absolute ruler, he is surprisingly casual. "The first thing I want to say," he says. "Is that whatever my press bureau told you does not apply. I want you to give me a real interview." I mull the implications of this to my career, but agree. This seems to please him, as he nods his approval. "Now we've settled that," he continues. "Shall we take a drink?" I nod my consent, and he delivers a well-mixed gin and tonic. "Questarian stock," the King says. "Not like this Pardesi stuff. Terribly hard to come by, since the happenings over there." Seeing my opening, I thank him for the gesture and jump in.

AP: Your Majesty, much has been made of your statements on political reform in our nation. What drives this desire on your part, given that so many of our countrymen are content with the system as it is?
C: It is not enough to be content, One thinks. One has seen that One's subjects are content with our system, but One desires that they take a more active role in our governance. One cannot act in the people's interest if One does not know.

AP: When did you reach the conclusion that reform was necessary?
C: When I first went abroad. I had had the idea prior, of course, but it was my secondary schooling in Arthurista that really started the ball rolling. I saw how their politics worked, how engaged their people were, and I wished the same for our people. In Arthurista the people were engaged in their government, and I felt they cared deeply about what happened. In Hudson it seemed the people didn't care, as long as the world kept turning. And I couldn't help but think 'why don't our people care, beyond the local elections, what goes on in their country?' And the answer is simply because they had no reason to.

AP: And this bothered you. Why?
C: Because I saw it as a threat to our way of doing things, to the happiness of our people. A government, like any other system, must be given a periodic influx of new ideas and new thought, it must be accountable to the people. And in order to do that, the people must have a voice, beyond the smattering of petitions sent to the Crown. How can one know what the perception of an ideal is if one only sees it from one petition? A King must act in the best interest of His people, if he is to retain the right to be King. In order to know what the best interest is, it is necessary that he be told.

AP: This is something you feel strongly about, it would seem.
C: From my point of view the stakes are thus: either we increase the political consciousness and active involvement in government of our people, or we consign ourselves to inevitable stagnation and decay. A King cannot expect His nation to prosper while He himself remains an island apart from its consciousness.

AP: So what do you hope to see from this reforming process, on a personal level?
C: I want to see the people given a better voice in the running of the country, so that I can better act in their interest. This whole process, my whole reason for being, is for the interest of our people. So of course, anything that helps that will meet my approval.

AP: What role have you played in the discussions thus far?
C: It's difficult to quantify roles in something like this. (pauses) I've given my input on the relationship between the Crown and its people, I've given my expectation of what I'd like to see develop. But I've also said I will accept whatever the Council of State comes to for a conclusion.

AP: What if that conclusion doesn't include you? Would you be prepared to accept a Republic, if one were proposed.
C: One believes this is unlikely.

AP: But for the sake of argument.
C: If the Council decided and the people affirmed that they felt Prestonia no longer required a King...well, I would do my duty as a citizen of the Realm.

AP: But you've said that you don't think that's likely. What role do you see for yourself in the future system, as King?
C: That is difficult to say with certainty. I have no issue with being a constitutional monarch, with being bound by the law like any other. I would prefer that I not be a powerless monarch; I feel that if we are to have this monarchy then the monarch must have something to contribute on a practical level to the nation.'

AP: You've also indicated that you would not endorse a lifting of the proscription on political parties. Why so resistant to this idea in particular?
C: Many in our world view political parties and political consciousness as equivalent; it is my contention that not only is this untrue but a direct contradiction of fact. We in Prestonia have developed politics without partisanship. We do not demand our voters categorize their consciences into this box or that one, and by eliminating the tribal nature of modern partisan politics we see a system where the people work with their Crown toward the common good of all. This is something that I have found to be unique among the nations of our world, and wish to see continued.

AP: On current events, if I may so venture, what do you make of the recent incidents in our area with the Chyekish and Sutadota nuclear testing?
C: The world is in a tense state, surely. It is disconcerting to see nations acting in such a way, knowing that the consequences of any misstep could be dire for us all. But it is also profoundly heartening to see that we as a region can come together on issues which are truly important to us all.

AP: Your reign is only a few months old, but already it has seen Prestonia take a more active place on the world arena. What goals do you have going forward for our nation's position in the region?
C: We entertain no desires of superpower or even regional power status; it is far from Our thought to embark on any aggrandizement which will serve only to destabilise the balance of power which hangs by precarious thread. Rather, it is Our firmest belief that Our reign must be marked internationally by a focus on international cooperation, peace and amity. This, We believe, will ensure that Our subjects and progeny--and indeed, the whole of Pardes--may continue to exist and develop for the benefit of the future generations.

AP: Your Majesty, is has been a pleasure. One more question, if you please?
C: By all means.

AP: Who do you like for the King's Open Cup this year?
C: (laughs) Well a King must be nonpartisan, after all. But I think Hudson City has a strong side, and look forward to watching them from the Royal Box in the Final.

Whenever I have an interview, I always let the remarks sit for a few weeks before I edit them. In this case, the option wasn't quite so open; true to my word, I sent my transcript to the Bureau; I half expected to never see it again, given that I'd rather flagrantly breached their bans. I was pleasantly surprised when a few days later it came back stamped "AUTHORIZED" and with no comments. I wondered if, perhaps, the King had greenlit it personally; I imagined the stiff, librarian-esque minder who'd briefed me fuming her indignities to herself. I had gotten my interview, but I was not sure what to make of it. The King was, it seemed, deeply passionate about his life and vocation; his pleas on behalf of democracy sounded more befitting an Alleghanian firebrand than one heading a de-jure absolute monarchy. Yet, at the same time, I got the sense that he was very much playing a role, dispensing the lines he'd practiced. I wondered if I'd really gotten to know him at all. In the end, I decided it did not much matter. A philosopher once described a King as a stage actor on the grandest stage; he need not be true to his lines, only to deliver them convincingly in his role. Charles the Third may well be an actor-king; he may well firmly believe the things he says. Perhaps one has bled into the other. Perhaps it is that uncertainty which has made the King such an enigmatic and, ultimately, enduring figure in our national psyche. Time will tell what sort of King Charles the Third becomes, what sort of show he puts on for his nation. One thing, however, is certain regardless: his public will be watching, and adoring.

CSU, Pardes(CSM) — With tensions running high after the CSU and Sutadotazu conducted a series of nuclear tests, Premier Zelenov during a session with the leading Soviets of the country agreed that the nation could no longer stay inactive. Zelenov displayed his direct disappointment with neighbouring nations, most notably Valinor and Prestonia over their aggressive sabre-rattling. He was quoted as telling the Soviets, ''It is deeply disappointing to observe how the Valinese and Prestonians have reacted and otherwise behaved shortly after our legal tests. Not even thirty hours after we [the CSU] had conducted a series of nuclear tests had the Valinese escalated and acted aggressively spewing threats like the venom from a snake - it is apparent that the Valinese only wish to further destabilize the situation. They have announced wargames, issued threats, and even deployed ABMs [Anti-Ballistic Missiles], may it be noted that during their sabre-rattling, the CSU did not react to these threats by proceeding with counter-wargames, counter-threats, nor deploying any form of military divisions or offensive equipment - a decision that was meant to send a clear message that we'd no intention on further escalating the situation. May it also be known that the CSU has openly stated numerous times that the nation was open to cooperation, talks, and negotiations with neighbouring nations over concerns of the recently conducted tests. May it be known that no nation has heeded our offer, no nation has bothered to engage us in talks or negotiations, and instead has continued to issue threats and demands. Valinor has become increasingly vile and aggressive, and it is within our power as the Supreme Soviets of the CSU to further push the nation to DEFCON 3, an act of military readiness to strengthen security. Despite numerous attempts to try and cool the tension by opening ourselves up for diplomatic cables, no nation has engaged us, and as such we can no longer sit back and wait while our security is threatened. The Chyekish Airforce shall remain on a fifteen minute stand-by alert, all further nuclear tests have been suspended until a further time, the Chyekish Navy has been put on a stand-by order along with the Coast Guard, and forward operating bases are also under a fifteen minute stand-by alert.''

The announcement came across television during the convention, and was agreed upon by 4 vs 1 by the Supreme Soviets, Premier Zelenov further addressed the Valinese directly on the situation, ''May it also be known that we've no interest on destroying, halting or otherwise stopping our nuclear facilities, mining, or destroying our arsenal. We do not use such weapons as an offensive measure but as a deterrent and a defensive one at that, any attempt to hinder or otherwise attack and destroy our facilities, on our sovereign soil in which Chyekish lives are lost, will be considered an act of war and a continuance to DEFCON 2 with the full deployment of forward ICBMs, SLBMs and an immediate retaliatory contingency - We do not tolerate being bullied, and we will not tolerate threats that put civilian lives at risk''

With the agreement by the Supreme Soviets, the nation's emergency protocol known as ''Operation Guardian'' was declared - 'Operation Guardian' is a contingency plan set forth by the Supreme Soviets to protect civilian lives, it includes opening up emergency trams and preparing metro stations for civilian evacuation to underground facilities that are designed to protect civilians against a nuclear attack. Further measures have also been deployed such as emergency broadcasts, pamphlets, and emergency procedures on what to do if the nation comes under attack. ''Civilian lives will be our top priority above all else'' Zelenov said, signing the Guardian order on national television.

Videos and photos were further circulated onto the internet on social media sites by Chyekish civilians, images showing military trucks and armour moving through thoroughways and troops setting up entrances to stations. Some cities have also begun performing mandatory air raid drills, with military instructors being guests at schools and hospitals to instruct on what to do if under attack.

In the city of Ludansk, one of the port cities that runs along the channel that splits the nation, the submarine base became quite active early in the dawning hours as submarines were launched to patrol the coasts. ''Though we are now forced to take a measure to ensure our defense, we are still open to diplomatic cables, and will freely meet with other Pardesian governments at Laesico for a chambered meeting session in the OPA - however, until the Valinese halt their aggressiveness and stand-down, we will remain in defense status, and will defend ourselves with teeth and blood'' Zelenov stated, Zelenov may soon be taking a flight to Laesico to discuss the situation with other Pardesian governments on cooling the situation, however as he further affirmed, that option still remains up to the other governments - unless they plan to continue and sabre-rattle.

Drakkar will resist until the end

Image

Following last week's declaration of independence, separatist attacks have escalated

28thJuly, 2014| 18.30 PM PCT | înregistrate| By: Nicolae Eliade

Separatist attacks in Itailia had risen dramatically following the declaration of independence by their leaders, as of today we are told, all rebel groups operating in Drakkar will now unite under the leadership of the National Coalition for the Righteous Liberation of Drakkar (NCRLD), but its preferred to be called the Righteous National Coalition (RNC), which it shall be from now on for simplicity's sake. Regardless of names, the honourable fighters of the separatist movement have stepped up their efforts, they have expanded their energies and have begun to focus on striking the regime in Ebonaevron in ways that will maximise pain and difficulty. Today alone, an estimated 300 people were killed in car bombings, IED attacks, ambushes and shootings, most of the dead being Pagan fascists loyal to Ebonaevron.

The lack fo a CDI response over the past seven months is evidence to the Itailian government's isolation over its war of denying the people of Drakkar the right to freedom and liberty, they began their genocide on the 5 December 2013, by killing 233,000 innocent men, women and children, they did not expect to see their victims resist. This new development that began days after the beginning of the genocide has caused further complication to this brutal situtation, imagine the outcry of CDI citizens if their leaders offered lives to be taken in support of a government that is responsible for one of the most bloody acts in Pardesi history, it would be pandimonium and believe it is right to applaud the Papal Republic for its diplomatic ability to ensure that the people of Pardes do not forget that the Itailians are responsible for this crisis and that the Papal Republic has the inaliable right to intervene on humanitarian grounds. Only this morning, this broadcaster recieved photographs of a small farming community in western Drakkar, burnt to the ground and the bodies of its 108 citizens buried in a poorly dug mass grave, the genocide continues it seems.
Image
108 bodies were discovered outside the ruins of Paedella
village last night

The Itailian regime has also accussed the righteous liberators of inhumane acts, including massacres. According to one blatant lie produced by the government in Ebonaevron, the Lord's Resistance Army, led by members of the Rodarian volunteer paramilitary force, the Orducii, massacred some 5,000 Pagans during the siege of Nece. No evidence has been officially put forward by the criminal gang, yet it is expected to produce for putrid lies aimed at discrediting the noble and holy cause of the separatists. Yet there is unlimited evidence that the Itailian government has proved to be as effecient in genocide as it was on that fateful December day last year, over 35,000 Catholic civilians and fighters have been killed since December, bringing their genocidal tally to 268,000 Catholics. This is a government without soul, without humanity, without remorse, this a government hellbent on extermination, yet it finds victims armed to the teeth, who successfully collect weapons from the dead invaders, they have found victims that have 1.4 billion supporters to their south, they have found victims with over 3.4 million loyal soldiers at their gates ever ready to save them from the murderous government in Ebonaevron.

Two nights ago, I was a part of press detail that enjoyed a webcam interview with LRA military leader, Regulus Orsini, who is now the commander-in-chief of the Righteous National Coalition's estimated 57,000 armed fighters. Orsini declared, "Our Drakkarian Volunteer Corps is based on the ideals of the Perpetual Crusade, and most of our fighters are nationalists. They are idealists, they are defending the Drakkarian people against the genocide it is facing. We are christian nationalists." Speaking further he explained to us that, "the enemy is strong in number, ability and supply, but we are stronger in spirit, therefore eventually, we will carry the day when the Lord decides when that day shall come. Should the Lord see fit that we are best served as citizens of Itailia, we shall only do so after we have fought to the last man, woman and child who carries Drakkarian blood and bows before the Cross where Christ was killed."

Regulus Orsini has proved such a successful commander, that the Itailian government has placed a bounty on his head worth $150 million, so eager are they to end a righteous cause, that they would resort to commercialised killing. He has numerous occassions dismissed the use of bombings and shootings on Drakkar's Pagan population as a means of 'enforcing justice that 230,000 people were denied, let alone that every pagan in Drakkar is a collaborator and a accompliace in their government's genocide of christians." Over the past week, it has been confirmed that 11 small rural villages have been liberated, with all security services personnel expelled from the areas or killed outright in combat. But these gains, as positive as they are, in truth offer little in the progress of attaining Drakkar its final freedom, yet with every success comes the belief in Drakkar that eventually the Papal Republic will take advantage of the gains to offer its intervention.

Pro-intervention forces in the Senate are growing dramatically, last night, Minister of the Interior Radu Hasdeu publically stated, "Intervention in Drakkar is our national focus, it is our national interest and it is in the interest of all Catholics of Pardes." Some 209 Senators have also pledged their support for intervention, declaring their support through social media, opinion editions, speeches and letters written to Consul Octavian Ceaușescu. Proconsul Tiberiu Alexandreșcu is currently the highest ranking member of the government to be vocal in his support for action in Drakkar, last week, speaking to the members of the Romula Orducii Corps at Saint Mircea Stadium, he said "a great crime is being committed to our north, it is the same crime that was committed in December last year, a crime that has been repeated every single day since then, it is our duty as the guardian of the Catholic faith and the home of the Holy See to ensure that this crime ceases and those responsible are brought to swift righteous justice."

Consul Octavian Ceaușescu has offered some mixed messages over his position regarding intervention, speaking to reporters last week he said, "as Consul of the Papal Republic, I have been kept up to date regarding the situation in Drakkar, I have been in constant contact with his holiness over the situation, we are both in agreement that a diplomatic solution would be key, however our communication with the separatists has indicated their reluctance to negotiate with what they call a 'terrorist government', we must respect their decision. Yet I believe should the situation on the ground continue to detoriate, we would need to dramatically reconsider our position and act accordingly." However his article in the National Express this morning indicated his opinion that the situation was as deplorable as could be, saying "this nation has the means and the spirit to intervene and assist in the salvation of the Drakkarian people, who seek out the rights of a sovereign nation, free from oppression, tyranny and violence. As the region looks east to the nuclear crisis, caused by the antics of a marxist and fascist duo, this nation does not turn its gaze from the crisis closest to our heart, we are one with the people of Drakkar and they shall prevail, they shall join the community of nations of Pardes and they shall remain so until God determines otherwise, that is this nation's vow."

According to several online polls, some 88% of participants support military intervention, with a further 71% supporting the merging of the Drakkarian nation with the Papal Republic, when the poll has offered to Drakkarians, some 79% offered their support for a unification programme to come about should the regime in Ebonaevron be exiled from its sacred soil. What is sure, is that the rebellion in Drakkar will continue and support for action by the government will continue to grow here in Rodarion.

CSU, Pardes(CSM) — Premier Zelenov, despite the recent tensions announced that the CSU would officially recognize Drakkar as ''an independent and sovereign state'' - one of the first Pardesian nations to do so. In an address directed to the civilians fighting for their freedom from the regime of Italia, Zelenov congratulated them, ''You have faced many hardships and had to make heavy sacrifices in your pursuit of freedom - and all though the path ahead will prove to be a difficult one, we are with you. The people and nation of the CSU are with you, we support you, and we wish you the best in your quest to nationhood. We hope for your success in throwing off the chains and reins of those that have heavily stood above you, like dark shadows that have watched and shrouded you from the starlight above. For both your bravery and your sacrifice, the CSU recognizes Drakkar as an independent and sovereign nation. Never lose hope.''

The statement was read on national television by Premier Zelenov which drew much applause from the chambers, he further stated, ''We hope other nations in Pardes move to accept Drakkar among the ranks of those who can govern themselves - such sacrifice and loss must be awarded'' Zelenov said. PRRB, the Rodarian news outlet has reported that fighting has increased dramatically since the province of Drakkar declared independence from Italia just a week earlier. The region has long been an area of hot debate and border skirmishes between both the Papal Republic and Italia, especially over Drakkar, a province that is believed to be predominantly Catholic and who has sought independence especially after the massacre of Catholics by the Italian regime months earlier.

Unexpected fissures in the ground caused radiative debris to be ejected
into the atmosphere, July 28.
The Association of Nuclear Research is reporting that a planned underground nuclear test outside of the Yoshi District has become subject to several major complications. Conducted at 6:30 PM on 28 July, the energy from the 15 kiloton detonated, codenamed "Black One," caused the shaft which the warhead was placed in to become compromised. The resulting fissures in the ground caused a plume of radioactive debris to form, being carried away by the wind to the east. The detonation was designed to test Sutādōtāzu's current methods of hardening satellites from radiation. At the top of the shaft, two satellites were suspended in a vacuum chamber, meant to simulate a space environment. The test was underway when two minutes and ten seconds after the detonation the shaft became compromised and ejected debris into the atmosphere. The Grand Air Service is reporting that the test materials were destroyed and that it is launching a full-scale investigation into why it failed.

Admiral of the Air Fleet Itsunori Abe gave an official statement this evening, stating, "This test was fully within our right to conduct. We are working in association with the ANR to come to a conclusion as to why this test was compromised and to prevent any complications in future tests."

The resulting plum of radioactive material was carried about twenty miles further into the uninhabited mountain ranges to the east. Carried out in the Yoshi Nuclear Test Grounds 60 kilometers south of the small town of Yoshi, no populated regions are in danger of fallout. However, the Grand Air Service has deployed fallout clean up teams to the testing grounds and the forest region to the immediately east of the testing grounds to evaluate the situation and sanitize the region. There have been no reports of exposure to radiation have yet come in from workers in the testing facility.

This test, while allegedly planned years in advance, does violate the terms of Resolution 0010 which will definitely be passed in the coming weeks. An anonymous source in the Executive Office has confirmed that four more nuclear detonations will be conducted in the next month, and that some will be above-ground tests. He also confirmed that these tests will go on even if Resolution 0010 is passed before they are scheduled to occur.

Nuclear Fallout: Anikatia moves forward with sanctions on Sutadotazu and the CSU

NEW: Nuclear Disaster underground test goes awry
for Sutadotazu
Premier Zelenov support for Drakkar separatists
ANTIYTIA, Anikatia — President Bykov spoke for over an hour with Sutadotazu Patriarch Ryozo Ito on monday in what appeared to have been a heated but fruitless exchange, reflecting an escalating tension as international condemnation builds over Sutadotazu's nuclear tests.

Ito gave little ground according to a statement released by the leader after the call, Sutadotazu and Anikatia were still far apart on the situation regarding the use of nuclear weapons for testing. "Sutadotazu has acted in full compliance with international law," Ito said regarding the ongoing tests that have been undertaken by the regime prior to the OPA Resolution 0010 which if passed would make the tests illegal within the region.

“It would be a huge risk for Sutadotazu if they were to continue their planned future tests, which would be in clear violation of international laws.” said Sarama Negassi, Professor of geopolitics and dean at Myron University

Before calling Ito, President Bykov announced the first punitive actions against Sutadotazu since the start of the crisis. The new restrictions targeted an unspecified and unidentified number of people and entities that the Bykov administration accused of threatening regional sovereignty and territorial borders. They were announced in Antiytia as Minister of Foreign Affairs Tymik Parkyev headed into a meeting with Papal Republic's Foreign Minister Mircea Basescu in the capital to discuss both the Drakkar crisis and nuclear tests of the CSU and Sutadotazu.

Leaked information regarding the sanctions show that Former Press Secretary to the Patriarch, Ikugo Aku, will be one of the people targeted by the new measures. Aku has close links to firms which conducted the test and he has been outspoken in his support of the actions of his government. Saying last Sunday "Sutādōtazu influence must be enforced. It is in the best interest of all Sutādōta for the Patriarch not to bow to the demands of the leftist west." Which has been regarded as highly inflammatory by many Anikatians as well as hypocritical given the recent signing of the Astra Compact which brought Sutadotazu under the direct influence of the leftist communist state of the Chyekish Soviet Union.

The sanctions against Sutadotazu and the CSU come as part of wider coordinated effort among Pardesi nations to prevent further escalation of tension after a number of nuclear tests were conducted by both Sutadotazu and the CSU. Despite international condemnation and near universal support for the OPA resolution against nuclear weapons testing Sutadotazu has moved forward with further nuclear testing, in the admission that the latest underground tests have suffered a catastrophic failure. “This disaster highlights just one of the many reasons these tests are so dangerous, even for the nations conducting them huge risks are involved,” said a spokesperson from the Anikatian Minstry of Foreign Affairs.

Although further details on the sanctions have yet to be released, leaked reports show that the sanctions focus heavily on Sutadotazu due to the large number of Anikatian weapon systems operated by the regional neighbour. Along with the sanctions Anikatia will suspend all ongoing military cooperation and support with Sutadotazu and the CSU. Anikatia following the collapse of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Anikatia (DSRA) found itself in the position to be a large supplier of weapons systems, primarily aircraft to Sutadotazu during their military build up against the CSU prior to the Astra Compact military alliance. As part of these deals Anikatian Ny-122’s supersonic strategic bombers were leased to Sutadotazu, however following the rapid decline in relations they will be among the first systems to fall to the sanctions having been recalled and the agreement terminated. They along with all Anikatian Air Force support staff are expected to be back in Anikatia by the end of the week.

The bulk of the systems which include front-line fighters such as the Ay-05, and Yuk-31 fighters were bought by the regime and cannot be returned but all support and assistance has been suspended pending termination. This includes the final delivery of 22 Ay-05NGS aircraft along with 5 Ay-07IXSB and Ay-07IX fighters which have been suspended indefinitely, they are expected to enter Anikatian service. Though some military analyst suspect they may be offered to regional neighbours such as Valinor as an act of defiance to Sutadotazu and a show of solidarity with the nearby nation.

While the first stage of sanctions have been put in place the President Bykov has not ruled out further talks and negotiations saying “We hope these coordinated sanctions with the international community demonstrate our deep concern with the actions of both the CSU and Sutadotazu, we believe these sanctions will send a clear message that such extreme and dangerous actions are not acceptable. Our purpose here is not to punish the CSU and Sutadotazu, but to make clear that they must cease their nuclear testing.”

Instead “We encourage both Sutadotazu and the CSU to return to compliance with its obligations to the international community and stop destabilizing the region and choose a diplomatic path for resolving the crisis.” Bykov said.

On that point, the Bykov government announced that it will take up the offers by the CSU to joint high level talks with Premier Zelenov who will be travelling to the Belfrasian Island of Laesico, which is well known as the headquarters for the Central Defence Initiative (CDI). Anikatia’s Prime Minster Cheon Hwa-yeon is expected to meet up and discuss the current situation with the Premier. Cheon is expected to play a key role in the talks, given her position as leader of the Party of Socialist Unity, generally considered to be the successor of the Communist People's Party, the former ruling party to the DSRA, which enjoyed favourable relations with the CSU.

The Hypocrisy of the Sutadotazu is so over the top it would be funny if it wasn't so likely to lead to a war and then we all lose. It's hard to laugh under those circumstances.

Astryia Compact Tests and Fallout Damages Art Callen Colony
Reports from Art Callen colony report massive amounts of dead fish and radiological detectors have been tripped

Valtos, Valinor — In perhaps the first serious consequence of the heaviest usage of nuclear weapons in more then three decades, civilian reports are coming in from the colony of Art Callen, which is just a few hundred kilometers south of Sutadotzu, that there have been hundreds of dead fish washing up on the beaches there, primarily around the northern settlements and there has even been an unconfirmed report that radiological alarms at Forward Operating Base Tanist, the home to the 7th Regiment which is the garrison unit for the colony, have been tripped.
Reports first began coming in around yesterday evening as the fisherman from the colony, it's third largest industry which in turn in the third largest industry in the entire nation, grossing an annual four hundred billion rire, with at the time wild accusations of hundreds of dead fish floating in the oceans and several took pictures, however the notoriously rough waters of the Eastern Ocean make them low-grain and hard to see much.

These 'wild' reports soon turned out to be quite true, as the town of Rinsfv, a small fishing settlement of no more then two hundred, awoke to more then seven hundred dead fish of more then nine different species on their beaches, and dozens more were being washed in by the hour. Officials from the Colonial Affairs Ministry as well as locals helped with the cleanup, with NBC gear being provided by the 7th Regiment who also assisted in the cleanup which by local reports exceeded nearly one thousand dead fish. Local officials contacted the central government and Prime Minister Irenaeus has reported that scientists belonging to the Office of Geography and Nature have been dispatched to safely examine the fish and determine the cause of their deaths.

Economic analysts are more focused on the deaths of the fish, where Rinsfv was not the only town, with five more settlements experiencing the same phenomena, and are heavily worried that the colony's main reason for establishment, a port for Eastern Ocean fishing, would be compromised and would severely hamper the nearly four billion rire's of investment that went into the colony; in a show of disconfidence, the Erkisga Stock Market fell more then eight points this morning and Chancellor Ioaniddies spoke to ensure he and his people were working with the industries to ensure economical stability.

Prime Minister Irenaeus also took the time to speak out against the 'baseless' and wild accusations by a former government official of the Sutadotzu government, who called the Valinese government barbaric and bullying in it's words, as did the CSU; the Prime Minister in return had a short message which went as followed:

"This government and this nation are not the ones who have expended more nuclear material in the last week then the entire region put together has utilized in an entire century; the actions of the Astryia Compact as a whole are wholly negligent of their duties to responsibly lead and govern their people and further actions down the continued road will result in more unintended consequences for either, or both, regimes."

Given the Chyekish mobilization of certain units, voices in Parliament are growing concerned over war and Member Estradies and his party have called for a back down on hostile rhetoric has the nation may not be ready for war or any form of armed conflict, however the Prime Minister's office declined further comment until the conclusion of the ongoing summit with representatives from all major members of the Central Defence Initiative; which is set to end this evening
Niels S. Møller contributed to this report.

Hundreds of Sieuxerrians leaving to fight in Drakkar uprising
Group leader says "We fight to bring forth the will of God!"

Reported by Maxence Le Saux| 7/29/14 | 0800 SST | Jeune International Airport, Jeune, Nord-Pas-de-Calais, Sieuxerr

Flavien Gaillard during his service in the
Sieuxerrian Foreign Legion.

With heavy fighting currently going on in the region of Drakkar, a force of 350 Sieuxerrian Catholic militants leave to enlist in the ranks of the National Coalition for the Righteous Liberation of Drakkar, or simply the Righteous National Coalition. The group is known as the Vincey Battalion, which was formed in the large city of Vincey, Nord-Pas-de-Calais, which is well known to be home of the January 10th Movement. It is a pro-Catholic organization that was organized after 18 Rodarian nuns were attacked by a Arthuristan drone on January 10th. The movement organized a number of protests both in Vincey, Paris, and a number of other large city centers via social media, many of these protests where in sizes from 10,000 to over 50,000. The protests sparked minor violence and openly called for Sieuxerr support of Drakkar.

The Vincey Battalion was formed by Flavien Gaillard in order to send direct support to Drakkar. "We wish to do what our incompetent government can't," states Gaillard, "We are to aid our Catholic brethren in a fight, a crusade, if you will, to liberate the region of Drakkar from their Pagan masters. We've organized a company-sized force of men who wish to fight to the very end for our cause. We have former soldiers from the Siuxerrian Armed Forces in our ranks. Men are motivated against Paganism and who have seen first hand what these people do, if unchecked. We fight to bring forth the will of God!"

The battalion waits in the airport in Jeune, who will be transported by Rodarian Air to the nation and will make their way into Drakkar. The group won't disclose where they intend to enter, or how they will enter. The group is to leave today and arrive early tomorrow, from there, we will receive periodic updates on the status of both Drakkar and the Vincey Battalion.

Magallanez de Fe wins the Vicar Elections
Written by: Julio Fernandez Marcos

11:15PM, 27th of July

Magallanez de Fe with supporters just after victory was declared

In an unlikely electoral event, Octavio Magallanez de Fe has won the seat of the Vicarship with 25% of the national vote, beating out runner up candidates Isabella Perez Belmonte (20%) and Gabriel Ricardo Cordero (16%). Previously considered candidate for victory Estanislau Venâncio only garnered 12% of the vote and the other five candidates for the Vicarship (including an independent candidate) won the remaining portion of votes. Unprecedented due to the fact that the last Vicar candidate for the Hijos de la Oro Imperio, Manuel Sigdio de Varez only garned 6% of the vote across the empire.

At his campaign headquarters in La Serena, where over five hundred thousand supporters gathered to watch their new Vicar speak before them. The fervour of this victory announcement made the crowd cheer fanatically as their man got onto stage with his family, chanting all the while: Nos levantaremos de nuevo! (We will rise again).

"My brothers, my sisters, sons and daughters of the Ulthrannic Empire and children of Ulthrianel; I stand before you humbled that you would give me the chance to be your representative, the peoples' representative to sit beside our Emperor and to help steer this Empire into a new age" Fe began his speech, tears began forming in his eyes as the crowds continued to shout 'We will rise again'.

"As I stand before you now, as I prepare to enter the halls of government, I look out to the region and I see nothing but despair, fool-hearty politicians and a region prone to a new fall. As catholics fight for their freedom in the bowels of Itailia, as civil unrest continues to plague Geanna and Azura, as violence continues on our doorstep and as two nations in the east ravage our environment and world with nuclear testing to show off imagined strength; we stand here united and proud! Let all the world know, let everyone in this region know that we will no longer sit on the sidelines, let them know that we will not wait for some vote or some decision in a foreign capital to change the course of this region. Let it be known now that brave Ulthrannians living out their day to day lives to further themselves and our nation, brave citizens of foreign birth who stand shoulder to shoulder with us now and brave men who wear their uniforms to protect and serve our empire; let it be known that we are coming and we are ferocious in our resolve."

His speech was short compared to others, Juan Rojas spoke for fifteen minutes at his last victory rally but Fe only spoke for five minutes. He thanked his opponents on a competitive campaign if not short and wished them the best for the future and talked about his plans in politics. But perhaps the most noteworthy portion of his victory speech was the end, where before jumping into the crowd to hug and shake hands and to join his supporters he said this:

"A time will come when the future generations of this empire look back and wonder where the new age began, they will look onto you and they will see that all of us here were the heralds of a new nation. Tonight, tonight is the night that we begin a new chapter in the story of our nation and I will not write it alone for each and every one of you shall write a passage as you are the architects of the new order, of the Ulthrannic Order. WE WILL RISE AGAIN!"

Despite such passion at his victory rally, word of his party's less than desirable wins across the empire began to spread. The Hijos, who despite have garnered more seats than they ever have in their time, did not win enough as Belmonte's United Left Party won more seats. A minority government appears only inevitable at this point and when the cheering dies down and Fe gets to work, that is when things will truly get interesting.

Government Expresses Concern On Drakkar, Refugees

Hudson In a scheduled press briefing this afternoon, Foreign Ministry spokespersons took time to express "deep concern" for the ongoing situation in Drakkar, which has left thousands dead and hundreds of thousands more displaced since hostilities began late last year. This is the first official government statement on the Drakkar Crisis, following on the heels of an interfaith conference which condemned the Government's "lacklustre" response to the ongoing insurgency.

"Our government has been utterly negligent in allowing this humanitarian tragedy, which touches so many in our region on a spiritual and human level, to go unaddressed and ignored at its highest levels," the conference report stated. The report, generated at the 59th Interfaith Alliance summit, called upon the government to "leverage all available resources to alleviate the human toll of the ongoing crisis" but did not call for direct intervention. Even so, the wording of the resolution has come under sharp criticism from political analysts, who have characterised it as "cloaked interventionism" and an overreach of Church authority.

The Foreign Ministry statement today appeared to acknowledge both sides of the issue, stressing that Prestonian forces would not become involved but stating that "practical measures will be taken to safeguard our populace and work with responsible parties toward a peaceful settlement" in the region. Of particular note, the Foreign Ministry announced the formation of a new committee to address the growing issue of refugees from the conflict.

"Today, His Majesty's Ministry for Foreign Affairs announces the formation of the Crown Select Committee on Humanitarian Affairs and Outreach," spokesman Henry Grant said, reading from prepared remarks. "It is hoped that this Committee will work with nongovernmental and private organisations to coordinate humanitarian relief efforts in the Drakkar region, and remain a permanent fixture for humanitarian outreach, wherever and whenever the need may present itself." The Foreign Ministry also announced that an earlier travel advisory to Drakkar had been upgraded to a full travel ban, prohibiting any travel into the region by individuals not granted dispensation. Grant did not elaborate on the reason behind the timing, citing only "a consistent pattern of deterioration and violence...which has become detrimental to the interest of our subjects."

A separately released statement from the Crown Constabulary, however, seemed to indicate that the move was at least somewhat motivated by concerns for terrorism. In a press release released late this afternoon, the Constabulary's Greater Hudson department announced the arrest of one Stephen Xavier Thomas, alias Anastasius Theophilio, on charges of conspiracy to further the commission of terrorism. According to a dispensation received this afternoon, Thomas conspired via internet forums to fly to Drakkar and join the Exercitus Christo, a proscribed organisation. The document further alleges that Thomas was in contact with high-level EC officials and received materials detailing the construction of bombs and explosives from the same. While Greater Hudson Police Chief Inspector Ian Davies called the arrest and discovery "deeply disturbing," he told PBC News this evening that the work seemed to be that of a lone wolf.

"We have had no evidence thus far of any Papist plots to further religious extremism or sectarian violence in this country," Davies told assembled media. "While we continue to be vigilant and investigate all leads, we urge the public to refrain from panic or paranoia, and stress that the vast majority of Catholics are in no way radicalised."

CoG, Pardes (PNN) — The civil rights group Right Civility released their report on Pardesian nations from an assessment done in 2013. The report outlines what nations in the region are when ranked together, according to their civil liberties, the scores for some are quite surprising.

The report took into consideration a lot of criteria which was then used to score nations, the three categories that nations could be ranked into were ''Free'', ''Partially Free'', and ''Unfree'' with two specialization categories. Belfras, Geanna, and Emmeria were rated in the 'Top 3' Freest nations in the region, having scores from 8-10 on the scale. On the other end, Rodarion, Estovakiva, CSU, Sutadotazu were rated the lowest on the scale.

What blew many away in the civil rights group was Alleghania, Italia, and New Belhavia. Alleghania scored ''Partially Free'', one of the biggest surprises to everyone who expected it to be in the top 3 for the 'freest'. Italia also scored ''Partial Free'' being on the border line of ''Partial'' and ''Unfree'' and another bombshell, New Belhavia scored ''Unfree'' being just one point shy of ''Partially Free''. RC said that rating some of these nations was a 'considerable difficulty' as not all information was readily available. New Belhavia and Alleghania for example had no information pertaining to a few categories - which may have saved them both but because of the lack of information, nothing could be added to their scores.

The full ranking system can be seen below - ranking nations in order, some nations were omitted due to major lack of information, not enough to score.

CSU and Sutādōtāzu condemned over nuclear tests, environment concerns arise region-wide.

Nuclear testing by the CSU and Sutādōtāzu pose environment concerns, say environment specialists.

Constantinople, KCT — Protests were held in Autokratoros Konstantinou A' Square in Constantinople yesterday, urging the Federal Government to take position in nuclear tests by the Chyekish Soviet Union (CSU) and Sutādōtāzu, which they claim poses environmental risks to the region as a whole. The Federal Government have, earlier today, responded to those claims as they are "legitimately concerning" and "non-rejectable". The Government, in view of the country's joining the Central Defence Initiative, have both condemned the tests and has voted positively on the Resolution to Prohibit Atmospheric, Terrestial and Subaquatic Nuclear Weapons Testing submitted in the OPA. Among those who voted as such were the nations of Rodarion and Estovakiva, apart from CDI and non-alligned nations.

"People nowadays talk about climate change as being a pressing issue," the President said in a speech before the Senate after signing the resolution, "but carbon emissions are nothing serious when nuclear fallout is concerned. Be it on the atmosphere, under the earth or on our seas, radioactive fallout will eventually end up disrupting our ways of life. One cannot trust rogue regimes such as Sutadotazu or Chyekish [Soviet] Union. Thankfully, the region was united against this menace and that is a plus. The region must show that kind of unity necessitated in order to successfully address this pressing issue, before, of course, it's too late for reasonable solutions to be applied."

Apart from the President, other factions have condemned such testing. These include Arthuristan PM Leanne Whittaker, who, among others, mentioned that "tension in Pardes has risen to unprecedented heights due to the dangerous, irresponsible and downright churlish behaviour of two nations", and that the CSU engaged in "an infantile, attention-seeking display", Belhavian President Eli Goldman who referred to these tests as "ludicrously irresponsible, a threat to regional stability, and denigrating to our shared environment", categorising the states that conducted them as "rogue". The Pope of Rodarion and heads of state and government from other countries have also condemned the tests.

In view of those tests, travel warnings were given to Eaglelanders willing to visit the Chyekish Soviet Union and Sudatotazu, and a travel and immigration ban is imposed on nationals of the two aforementioned countries for the duration of this crisis. The Eagleland delegation to the OPA also proposed that "serious, legitimate and rational sanctions" be imposed.

Ioanna Vlassi reported from Constantinople, KCT. Konstantinos Irakeides contributed to the article from Kokkinia, KCT.

CoG, Pardes (PNN) — After a rise in tensions between the Papal Republic and Italia over a border dispute, border clashes, and what can be described as a genocide against Catholics in Italia that followed, the Italian province of Drakkar declared itself independent and began to increase its insurgency against the Italian government. It is currently unclear whether Drakkar intends to become its own nation, or to join the Papal Republic, its southern neighbour of whom it shares the most similarities over Italia, between cultural and religious connections.

Despite the conflict, Parliament and President Isulia Anina announced that the Commonwealth of Geanna would officially recognize Drakkar as an independent and sovereign nation if it succeeds in winning the rebellion against Italia. Geanna also extended a further offer of setting up trade negotiations with the province for much needed supplies, Saxonople however was quite clear that military equipment would not be something to be negotiated. ''We're willing to open up trade cables, but we will not be willing to provide military equipment to Drakkar. However, essentials such as food, water, medical supplies and other important rations needed for the civilian population can be discussed'' President Isulia Anina said.

The Geannese announcement comes a few days after the Chyekish Soviet Union announced it would recognize Drakkar as well, the CSU has become the subject of a heated and quick rise in tensions after the nation conducted two 50MT nuclear tests, the largest tests in the region's history. Critics speculated on the Geannese response noting the nuclear test the nation conducted in the region during the War of Words a year ago - much to their surprise however, Saxonople condemned the CSU's ''belligerence'' as a ''gross violation and unwarranted danger to human civility''.

President Isulia Anina addressed during a press release that she was, ''Deeply upset'' over the ''unnecessary'' tests and further affirmed that the ''Geannese government would not support such barbarity to brew within the region'' - the CSU did announce that it would suspend its tests and was open to negotiations, a move that Anina says ''looks promising''. Parliament further stated that they would not be raising the threat level citing that any threat to their security was ''very low'' but would be closely watching the situation. Anina further stated that she was upset with Valinor by possibly ''further escalating the situation when it was not necessary'', Valinor a nation south of the CSU was subject to a tactical nuclear attack by Ossoria when a warhead was used against a fleet. Anina stated that she ''understood'' the anger and frustration held by the Valinese, but by ''issuing threats of possible and direct military action'' may have escalated the situation. ''When you're dealing with a bully, you don't give him what he wants, he wants a reaction'' she stated. The two tests conducted by the CSU, one by air-drop and the other via ICBM were confirmed by Central-6 amidst satellite imagery, seismic and atmospheric tests that the CSU did indeed conduct two nuclear test of around 50 Mega-tons of TNT.

NEW: Air Emmeria Flight 212, from Provisa to San Loma,
crashes in Drakkar

Experts: Airliner showing signs of being shot down
NECE, Drakkar — Air Emmeria Flight 212, flying from Provisa, Belhavia to San Loma, SF, United Republic, crashed near Nece on Friday evening. According to statements from an Air Emmeria spokesman, it is expected all 482 passengers on board died in what is universally being termed one of the largest accidents in aviation history.

The flight was traveling over the conflict-ridden Drakkar state, a region subject to a bloody conflict between the Itailian government and pro-Rodarian rebels.

According to a statement released by Air Emmeria, the airspace in Drakkar was not restricted. "Flight restrictions were posed by several organizations for any flights traveling below an altitude of 30,000 feet," the statement said. "IATA and ICAO declared the airspace above this point to be safe and out of range of ground-based lightweight air defense systems."

"We would like to issue our deepest condolences for the family, friends, and loved ones of those on board Flight 212. They will forever remain in our hearts. Air Emmeria takes pride in providing safe, low-cost transportation services to its passengers. Accordingly, we will push for this issue to be resolved."

The United Republic National Aviation Service, NAS, also released a statement. "We wish to express our sorrow for the people aboard Air Emmeria Flight 212. The airspace above Drakkar was not restricted by the NAS. We will investigate the matter."

In a separate statement, the NAS declared that, following this incident, no U.R. airline is authorized to fly above Drakkar until the conflict has subsided.

Videos have surfaced showing an airborne fireball, allegedly Flight 212. Vyrant has, through its navigation and mapping tool Vyrant Maps, labeled the estimated area of the crash site based on available satellite information.

A source that requested anonymity told reporters that Itailian authorities and authorities of the Drakkar rebel government were aware of the situation. The source said Air Emmeria and the U.R. government were aggressively seeking the black boxes aboard the aircraft, which would include vital sensory data and information from on-board flight recorders and instruments that could clarify the situation.

Air Emmeria released a statement with the nationalities of passengers aboard Air Emmeria Flight 212. Of the 482 passengers on the plane, 224 were Emmerian, 161 were Belhavian, 42 were Western, 21 were Itailian, and 6 were Rodarian. The nationalities of the last 28 passengers were not released in the report. The death toll of 482 ranks Air Emmeria Flight 212 as the third-most-deadly accident in aviation history, and the largest since 1985. Deaths due to aviation-related accidents have generally dropped yearly, reaching an all-time low of 431 in 2013.

Drakkar, an Itailian state, has been riddled with a sectarian conflict between pro-Rodarian Catholic rebels and pro-Itailian pagan loyalists. The fighting has left much of the region out of the control of the Itailian government. Recently, Itailian forces sealed off the border with Rodarion, in an attempt to prevent supplies and weaponry allegedly moving from Rodarion to the rebels. The Rodarian government has been accused of supporting the rebels with training and expertise as well as weapons.

Plane shot down?

According to aviation analyst and former NAS aviation accident forensic investigator Dave Robert, it is very likely the airliner was shot down. Robert cites the large expanse of the crash site based on available satellite imagery, such as that released by Emmerian satellite imagery analysis firm SpaceIMG, as evidence of this.

"If the remains are spread over a small area roughly the shape of an aircraft, then the plane was intact until it hit the ground, and thus something likely went wrong internally," Robert writes to The Heat. "But if the crash site is large, then the plane split apart in mid-air and its pieces were spread apart, suggesting something going wrong externally—like a missile strike."

Images from the scene of the crash, including charred bodies, support this notion. "Early photographs, as gruesome as they are, tell a lot about the crash," Robert writes. "Many people's clothes were torn off their bodies. Limbs were torn off. These are things that could only happen if they were exposed to very, very high air speeds very quickly. This is only plausible if the aircraft breaks apart mid-air."

"Additionally, some photographs show burned portions of the aircraft, and many major pieces cannot be identified. This is consistent with an in-air missile strike." Robert also refers to captured video of an airborne fireball as consistent with his allegations. "All evidence suggests that somebody somewhere shot this thing down."

Robert said it was difficult for a well-trained party to bring down the plane without knowing who was on board. "If it looks like a civilian airliner, squawks like a civilian airliner, flies as high as a civilian airliner... you get the point," he writes. "The only way you can shoot it down without knowing it's civilian is if you lack any sort of sophisticated IFF system capable of registering civilian identification codes."

Who was responsible?

No clear party has admitted responsibility for the crash, though anonymous officials on both sides of the Drakkar insurgency have blamed each other.

An anonymous spokesman for the Drakkar rebels said that it was the Itailian government. "We do have the capability to destroy low-flying aircraft, such as Itailian military transport planes and helicopters," he said. "But this aircraft was flying so high that there is no way we could be responsible. We just do not have air defenses sophisticated enough to bring down a plane flying at 32,000 feet."

A U.R. intelligence official, who requested anonymity because he was unauthorized to discuss the matter with the public, told The Heat that U.R. intelligence blamed the rebels. "Preliminary satellite intelligence suggests a large missile was indeed launched from rebel-controlled territory. We have confirmed intelligence that a rebel raid on an Itailian military reserve warehouse led to the capture of several Nike surface-to-air missile systems, which are certainly capable of bringing down the aircraft," the source said. "While we are not pointing fingers yet, we are working with Belhavian and Itailian authorities in retrieving radar data that could clarify the situation and assess the particular details of this incident."

The Nike surface-to-air missile is a sophisticated air defense system in service with the Itailian military for decades, capable of targeting aircraft in excess of 32,000 feet in altitude. Older versions of the missile are retired and stored in military reserve stockpiles at various protected warehouses. In a well-publicized offensive, Drakkar rebels seized a warehouse of this nature several months ago. Photographs posted to Twitter by rebels show them in possession of a Nike missile system.

A spokesman for the rebel government in Drakkar released a statement blaming the Itailian government. "This was an act of terrorism by the Itailian government," he said during a press conference. "The killing of civilians is never justified. The quicker the Itailian government admits its actions, the quicker this incident can be resolved. This deplorable act is representative of the rest of the Itailian government's actions, including its massacre of Catholics and its brutal oppression of the freedom of religion."

He continued, claiming the Itailian government was framing his side. "We have gained a lot of international support for our fight against oppression. They are framing us to make us lose credibility."

U.R. authorities have called for an immediate, unconditional ceasefire in the Drakkar state to allow the arrival of U.R., Belhavian, and international investigators. An NAS spokesman said a U.R. forensic team, consisting of aviation forensics experts from the NAS and Criminal Investigation Division (CID), was being prepared to go to Itailia.

It is currently unclear if the crash site has been properly secured. The aircraft crashed on what is termed the "constantly moving" front line of the Drakkar insurgency. Fighting around the area has persisted for months, which may make it difficult for emergency crews to secure the area.

CoG, Pardes (GBC) — Not even a day after the Geannese government announced it would formally recognize the separatists region of Drakkar did an AirEmmeria flight go down in the war torn region. ''We are deeply shocked and dismayed by the reports of AirEmmeria flight 212 having gone down in Drakkar.'' Prime Minister Liam Solistair said at a press release. ''We have unconfirmed reports that the aircraft was shot down over the wartorn region'' He further added amid the flashes of cameras.

AirEmmeria flight 212 was travelling from Provisa, New Belhavia to San Loma in the United Republic. As it passed over Drakkar, Air Traffic Control lost contact with the plane, it was later confirmed that the plane had indeed crashed, it is expected that all 482 souls perished in the incident. According to reports from ''The Heat'' by AirEmmeria, there were no air restrictions over the war torn region, believing all flights at an altitude of 30,000 feet or above were safe and out of range of any confirmed anti-aircraft missile systems in the area.

Following the incident, the UR's National Aviation Service or NAS announced that all UR flights are no longer permitted to fly over the region until the conflict subsides. The Geannese National Association of Aviation also released a statement on their twitter following the incident by providing their ''deepest condolences'' and further affirming that Geannese flights had ''been restricted over Drakkar since as early as the conflict began''.

Numerous videos surfaced online soon after the incident, most likely provided by rebels in Drakkar of a fireball streaming across the sky. Vyrant, a large technological firm in Emmeria was able to use a specialized geographical algorithm based on Vyrant Maps and the video to further determine the possible location of the crash site of Flight AE212.

Central 6, the central intelligence organization in the Commowealth announced that it had notified its Italian, Emmerian and New Belhavian counterparts of possible satellite data in relation to the incident that may provide a ''smoking[/i''] gun. Chief Director Alexander O'Langley confirmed that Central-6 satellites were indeed over the area during the incident, but that the agency was looking for assistance by its counter-parts on further analyzing the mountains of data. [i]''In order to gain a clear picture, we must cooperate and look through mountains of data, a feat that usually takes a few weeks will need to be done in a few days'' O'Langley stated. He further affirmed, ''What conclusive information we do have, it does appear that AirEmmeria Flight 212 was indeed shot-down over Drakkar'' he said, stating that during the incident, a satellite had confirmed the location of a SAM system a few days prior and was indeed operating in the area. Speculation still remains however whether the system would have had the missiles capable of taking down a commercial flight.

If one of Central 6's satellites that crossed over the area did indeed detect the situation, it may provide a clear 'smoking gun' on what happened to AE212 and those responsible. Drakkar is a southern border province in Italia that declared its independence a week earlier and has been fighting a rebel insurgency against Italian forces.

President Isulia Anina commented on the situation much to everyone's distress that there were suspected reports of six Geannese citizens aboard the plane. So far however, the NAA hasn't released the names but did state that it was ''looking into it'' - overall it is confirmed that of the 482 souls aboard the plane, 224 were Emmerian, 161 were Belhavian, 42 were Western, 21 were Italian, and 6 were Rodarian leaving 22 unreleased and possible 6 being Geannese.

No one at current as admitted to the incident that may have downed AE212, however reports from an anonymous UR intelligence official stated that UR intelligence was blaming the rebels for the incident. Rebels so far have stated that they blame the Italian regime for the incident, citing that they do not have the missiles capable of reaching the altitude for a commercial flight. Despite the finger blame across the borders, the Commonwealth has denied that it would point out anyone to blame as of yet - unconfirmed pictures were posted to twitter however that contradict the Rebel story, the pictures show rebels in possession of a Nike AAM.

The Nike AAM is a surface-to-air missile capable of shooting down aircraft over 30,000 feet, this includes commercial airliners. A UR intelligence official stated that earlier Emmerian satellite imagery had confirmed rebels obtaining the AAM from an Italian warehouse. The report could not be verified however, and is considered speculation at the current time. The Nike has been in service to the Italians for several years now, if it is indeed confirmed that the rebels had captured a Nike missile it puts into question whether or not Italia can be held at fault. Some critics told GBC that they do not understand ''Why you would have a SAM capable of shooting down aircraft over 30,000 feet, in a known warzone, where the enemy doesn't have any aircraft to begin with''.

The Geannese government quickly followed suit after the UR by also asking for an immediate cease-fire in Drakkar, as to allow international investigators from a number of countries to further analyze the crash site and what happened to AE212. Anina further confirmed that the Commonwealth would indeed send its own investigators to the region, the GBC is also planning on sending a few correspondents to Drakkar to further document the situation as it unfolds.

NEW:Anikatia to send investigators to AE212 crash
site as part of an international investigation.
AE212: victims’ relatives can help
one another in their bereavement.
ANTIYTIA, Anikatia —An Air Emmeria jet airliner carrying 482 people has crashed in the breakaway region of Drakkar in Itailia on a flight from Provisa, Belhavia to San Loma, SF, United Republic. There are no signs of survivors at the scene of the crash near Nece in Drakkar a rebel-held territory close to the border with the Papal Republic.

There were 224 Emmerian, 161 Belhavian, 42 Western, 21 Itailian, six Rodarian, six believed to be from Geanna. The nationalities of 22 passengers have not yet been verified. Though anonymous sources have told Antiytia Times that the remaining 22 passengers of flight 212 were Anikatian. The Anikatian government is still looking to confirm this information, spokesperson for the foreign ministry, Hui Yuan, said: "We are working through passenger data, cross-checking it and referencing it to establish exactly the numbers and identities of those Anikatian nationals."

In a conflict that has not been short of horrific violence, this was by far the most shocking and most gruesome to date. The 482 people on board AE212 had no connection to the fighting – their international flight was simply travelling through airspace above the war-torn area. Other airlines have announced they are now avoiding the Drakkar area.

Both sides in Itailia's civil conflict accused each other of shooting down the plane with a missile. It is still not clear why the plane came down. The huge loss of life threatens to have wide-ranging and unpredictable consequences, coming just after the CSU, Geanna, and other states gave their support and recognition for the independent break away region of Drakkar. Over the past few days there has been growing concern among Pardesi nations that following recognition of the separatists by a number of states across the region would lead to increase in military support for the separatists in Drakkar. It had already been widely reported that Hundreds of Sieuxerrians were leaving to fight in the conflict zone.

If it does turn out that the Nykov Ny-107NGX was shot down by the separatists - then it could significantly alter the terms of the whole debate surrounding the Drakkar crisis. Unofficial reports by The Heat that anonymous U.R. intelligence officials placed the blame on the rebels, stating that several Nike surface-to-air missile systems of the Itailian military may have been captured by the rebels. The Nike, is a surface-to-air missile which is part of a complex air defence system which has been operated by the Itailian force, although most systems have since been retired and placed in military storage facilities.

Defence and security experts said the Itailia-made Nike surface-to-air missile system, is known to be in the hands of pro-Rodarian fighters in Itailia, was most likely used. Pointing to online evidence from around since July last month Drakkar rebels posted images on social media sites claiming the capture of Nike surface-to-air missile systems from a Itailian military storage facilities, those images have since been removed. The system is capable of shooting down aircraft up to 46,000 m (150,000 ft) which would place it well within the flight path of the Air Emmeria flight AE212.

Rebels now claim, that they do not have any such surface-to-air system. “We just do not have air defenses sophisticated enough to bring down a plane flying at 32,000 feet." said anonymous spokesperson for the Drakkar rebels to U.R. sources.

Anikatian Prime Minister Cheon Hwa-yeon who was nearby on negotiations with the CSU Premier Zelenov on the Belfrasian Island of Laesico, the headquarters for the Central Defence Initiative (CDI) spoke of her shock and said that Anikatia would be launching an immediate inquiry into the crash, and that a team from the Anikatian National Transportation Safety Committee (ANTSC) would be send to the area as part of a joint investigation with Emmerian, Belhavian, Geannese and other international investigators. The Anikatian government joined the U.R. and Geannese governments in called for an immediate, unconditional ceasefire in the Drakkar state to allow the independent international investigation to be conducted. Drakkar separatists called the disaster "an act of terrorism by the Itailian government," in a press conference to the media.

A spokesperson for the Nykov company, Inna Lin Chen said it is highly unlikely that any flaw or accident caused the downing of flight AE212. Saying that the “Nykov Ny-107NGX is considered one of the most advanced and safest airliners" and that this crash of Air Emmeria flight AE 212 appears to be "no accident but rather a deliberate attack" which would not affect the aircraft's impeccable track record. Aviation expert Arseny Peng Lai, from Pardesi Flight International magazine, said not a single Nykov Ny-107NGX had been lost in a crash since the new generation Ny-107 aircraft was launched in 2010.

CoG, Pardes (GBC) — Isulia Anina made history today after Parliament officially swore her in as President, making her the first female leader the nation has had. Anina who acted as the Chairman for Parliament for almost 15 years was officially sworn in at the Imperial Palace among a crowd of thousands where she then gave a speech to the public which aired on national television.

This would also mark the first time the country has ever had a President, up until a few weeks ago Geanna had retained a Monarchy and was headed by both King Dmitri Alestei and Prime Minister Liam Solistair. On the King's wishes however, the Crown was removed from power and the Presidency was created - Alestei has since retired to his mountain retreat with his family, he still holds the title as King but will be the last. After the shift in executive power, Anina was considered the President Tempore or a step in, Parliament officially passed the vote however that she and Gadding would become the President and Vice President respectively.

Her speech covered several topics from the Economy, to the housing issue the country faces. She also covered many international topics such as the recent CSU and Sutadotazu nuclear tests, the Drakkar crisis, and now the downing of an AirEmmerian flight. Subjects such as Defense spending and foreing policy were also mentioned briefly. A crowd of thousands who had come to Saxonople to see Anina sworn in cheered her on as a formation of K-15 Hailstorm fighters from the Blue Jays screamed overhead dumping red and white smoke in neat streaks across the sky.

Elections have been set by Parliament to be held every six years for the Presidency who will be directly elected by the public, it'll be the responsibility of the President to represent Geanna on the international stage but also the public's demands in Parliament. This method balances the National and General Assembly with Liam Solistair representing the National Assembly of Ministers and Anina representing the General Assembly. The Judicial Administration will retain its power, further acting as a mediator and interpreter of the Constitution.

Anina also mentioned that she would work with Parliament on cutting certain areas of the Defense budget deemed unnecessary, this includes old programs that the Directors of Defense have tried countlessly time and time again to remove from the budget. She also wishes to expand the Education Reform Bill that was passed months earlier, providing better benefits for teachers and instituting a ''No child left behind'' program. With the Drakkar Crisis and the tension in the east, Anina stated that she'd more than likely be travelling in the coming weeks however to meet with her counterparts to discuss issues of varying importance including national and regional security.

Air Emmeria flight 212 crashes in Drakkar

Separatists have secured the crash site from Itailian Pagan looters

August 2, 2014| 09.44 AM PCT | înregistrate| By: Tavian Baron

An Air Emmeria Ny-107NGX has crashed 22km south-west of the restive city of Nece in the recently seceeded Itailian province of Drakkar. Emmerian Air flight 212 was carrying 482 passengers when it vanished from radar screens, already the international community is in shock at this tragedy and already many are believing that the airliner was shot down by a surface-to-air missile, with one Emmerian security official blaming the separatists, done so without any valid evidence.

Flight EA212 took off from Provisa in New Belhavia yesterday morning, with a brief stop over in Rosorii de Vede in Rodarion, it was due to take a further eleven hours before reaching its final destination of San Loma in western Emmeria. However contact was lost two hours after taking off from Rosorii de Vede International Airport according to air traffic controllers operating in Northern Rodarion. The plane was cruising at 32,000ft when contact was lost, the aircraft was carrying 482 passengers; 224 were Emmerian, 161 were Belhavian, 42 were Western, 21 were Itailian, and 6 were Rodarian. The nationalities of the last 28 passengers were not released in the report. However six are feared to Geannese, the remaining 22 passengers are also feared to be Anikatian. Emmerian Air has released the manifest of names, the six Rodarian citizens killed in the crash have been noted and their families have been informed, however without identification the process will take longer than expected.

However, five of the six Rodarians killed are believed to have all boarded the plane during the stop over in Rosorii, the final Rodarian national boarded the plane in Provisa, his name has been released by the Foreign Ministry and his death will make the situation even more difficult for Rodarion, Archbishop of Lividui, Crin Harescu, aged 66 was travelling from Provisa to San Loma to give a speech to university students about the role charity should take when dealing with enviromental problems. The other five citizens are believed to have been one family; Petru Hasdeu, 33, Katerina Hasdeu 31, Mihail Hasdeu 59, Alexandra Hasdeu, 58 and three year old Lividia Hasdeu are all citizens of Rosorii de Vede and were travelling to San Loma on holiday. What makes their story much more tragic, is that they were placed on the stop-over flight due to their lateness boarding Rodarian Airways flight 88, which took off ten minutes before they boarded EA212.

Images show the plane after it crashed

His holiness Pope Pius gave a swift press conference this morning, saying "I am shocked and I grieve at this inhumane tragedy, I pray for the families of all 482 passengers and crew who lost their lives aboard that the fateful flight. I pray for a swift and unbiased investigation, but I ask the peoples of Pardes to take a path towards an answer calmly and without hatred, for those who are no longer with us, deserve much better. But I hope that the families and friends of those who perished in this tragedy, take solace in the knowledge that those people are in the warmth embrace of the Lord above and realise that it is the people left behind by their passing that feel the pain. God bless them and God be with those in grief."

Consul Octavian Ceaușescu has also spoken to reporters this morning, during his daily press conference the Consul urged Pardes to pursue the answers to the crash's questions with calm and without a biased view to who is responsible. "The first thing that we should all aim for is not to find out who is responsible but to find out first what caused the plane to sadly crash. There is already talk of a missile hitting the plane, but then numerous things could cause a plane to break apart in mid-air such as a catasrophic decompression, an engine exploding or of course a bomb on board the plane. Of course, I offer the deepest condolences of myself, this government and the entire nation of Rodarion to the families of all 482 passengers, no matter what. The area in which the plane came down is in separatist hands, I can confirm that we are in contact with the rebel leaders and they have assured us that they will maintain security of the site, due to reports that men had been looting from the dead, these men were captured by the rebels and are confirmed to be Pagan criminals, they were punished for their lack of humane respect. The Papal Republic will dispatch air crash investigators as soon as possible, however it will require Itailian permission.

"The Papal Republic is open to complete cooperation with the nations who are effected by this shocking tragedy and together will find the answers, but it will require patience and calmness and an avoidance of politicising this disaster, should anyone fail to do that, will take away the dignity of those who perished in such an uncessary way." Some 36 separatist rebels from the Catholic Salvation Front, a fast growing group within the Righteous National Coalition for Liberation, the umbrella entity that incorporates some 40 separatist groups including the Exercitus Christo and Drakkar Liberation Front, have been dispatched to secure the site. They have been going through the site searching for passports and wallets as a means to identify the bodies. Fighting around the site has continued since yesterday, with some 130 people killed in the past 24 hours.

The military leader of the RNCL, Regulus Orsini has stated that his men will 'protect the site from any looter or thug, we will ensure the site's safety until investigators arrive'. However as soon as news broke that the rebels had taken charge of the site, many began to question their ability in dealing with the crash site, since the vast majority of separatist fighters are from Drakkar's agricultural and industrial sectors, they lack the know-how on to attend to the crash site, with rumours being spread by the Itailian propaganda machine that the separatists have been moving debris around in order to retrieve the bodies of the deceased, due to a shortage of body bags the bodies of the deceased will be forced to be in the open for another 24 hours according to a spokesman for the Exercitus Christo.

According to a statement made by an anonymous Emmerian security official, the plane was shot down by a missile strike, pictures taken off twitter show several stolen Nike surface-to-air missiles being transported by the rebels to a different location, the same official also stated that the rebels had stolen three of the systems from a warehouse outside of Nece during the uprising earlier this year. However only circumstantional evidence has been produced, including evidence showing a missile trail eminating from rebel held areas. The system is capable of shooting down aircraft up to 46,000 m (150,000 ft) which would place it well within the flight path of the Air Emmeria flight AE212. However, for the rebels to even use the system correctly they need to be trained in their operation and the rebels simply lack technicians, as a result the rebels exclusively use man-portable systems which can only take down helicopters or low flying aircraft. It has also been noted that the Itailians operate the Nike system also and have done for years, responses that the Itailians do not need to deploy SAMs due to the rebels lacking aircraft has been dismissed by the rebels and members of the Rodarian military who themselves have prepared to release extensive photographs of the so called 'Rubicon Line', the most extensive military fortification in Pardes, of which straddles the entire border with Rodarion, including surface-to-air missiles.

The National Office for Air Safety (NAOS) has dispatched four investigators to Itailia, they are expected to reach the Itailian border later this evening, where they must recieve permission from the Itailians to let them enter the country, the Foreign Ministry has made clear in a statement on its website, that should the Itailians hinder or deny the investigators entry, 'the Itailian Government will face the upmost severe concequences.' The Foreign Ministry is also rumoured to be producing an OPA resolution calling for an unbiased investigation, with the site's protection granted to the rebels due to the fear that the Itailian government will abuse or alter the evidence to secure a false finding.

A public memorial will be held at Saint Peter's Square tomorrow evening, where the Pope will lead prayers for the deceased and their families.

Crown Appeals for Peace, Offers Condolences for "Unthinkable" Air Emmeria Tragedy

Hudson Less than forty-eight hours after the crash of Air Emmeria Flight 212 over Drakkar, His Majesty the King addressed an assembly of religious leaders and diplomatic delegations from Emmeria, Rodarion, Itailia and Belhavia at a memorial service held for the dead of the conflict and crash. In a rare show of personal emotion, His Majesty appealed for those present to work productively toward peace in the embattled region, where sectarian violence has left thousands dead and thousands more displaced.

"Today I address you not as a King, but as a man of conscience," the King said. "Today, we are all Emmerian, we are all Rodarian, we are all Itailian and we are all Belhavian. Whatever our differences, we can work past them; whatever our conflicts, we recognize as human beings that this tragedy cannot be allowed to re-occur."

His Majesty did not lay blame for the incident, which remains under investigation, on any specific actor, but instead appealed for "a region-wide approach to peace in Drakkar," which did not send a delegation to the memorial service. The Prestonian government does not currently recognize the legitimacy of the Drakkar government, and has not indicated any plans to do so.

"Even as we mourn our dead, we must move forward," His Majesty stated. "And we owe it to our honoured dead to ensure that the conflict which has enabled this tragedy is brought to a swift, equitable, and peaceful conclusion. I call upon all those present, and all those around our region, to join with me and with Prestonia in working toward peace and harmony in Drakkar, now and for the future."

In a separate statement this afternoon, the Foreign Ministry stated that Prestonia was "strongly considering" acting as a mediator for a peace conference between the involved parties, and stated that the idea was being proposed through official diplomatic channels.

"His Majesty's Ministry for Foreign Affairs recognizes the gravity of this situation, and strongly feels that recent events demonstrate that the world community can no longer remain silent and ignorant of this conflict," the statement said in part. "In accordance with His wishes, His Majesty has directed His Ministry to initiate contact with the diplomatic office of Itailia and the representatives of the Drakkar state for the purposes of establishing a summit to discuss issues as they relate to the ongoing Drakkar conflict." The Foreign Ministry did not mention the inclusion of Rodarion in any proposed peace settlement; the Itailian government has accused the Papal Republic of funding and supplying the Drakkar insurgency.

Air Emmeria Flight 212, which carried 482 souls, went down over the town of Nece in Drakkar Province, Itailia, causing the deaths of all aboard. The Foreign Ministry has confirmed that no Prestonian subjects were aboard the airliner. While the cause was still under investigation at the time of this printing, the Emmerian government and others have stated that they believed the aircraft was shot down, whether accidentally or deliberately. Both the Itailian government and Drakkar insurgency are known to possess surface-to-air missiles capable of reaching an aircraft at commercial altitude, leading to blame trading between the respective groups. The Royal Aeronautics and Flight Administration has not commented on the cause of the crash, citing the ongoing nature of the investigation. RAFA has, however, announced that airspace over Drakkar province would be off-limits to all Prestonian-flagged aircraft "until such time as the situation normalises."

Air Emmeria Flight 212 Crashes - Tarsan Government Withholds Recognition

August 1, 2014

Image

Photo released by Foreign Media

Air Emmeria Flight 212, reported to be flying from Provisa, Belhavia to San Loma, UR went down today in the province of Drakkar taking 482 people to a fiery grave. Initial reports from the site have labelled the event as a crash. The crash marks the largest Pardesi aircraft related tragedy of the 21st century. No survivors have been reported by any source. Due to the constant state of war that the Drakkar province has been in, inspectors have not been able to visit the site and give any information as to what caused the accident as of this article.

Though pro-Rodarion Catholic rebels and the Italian government have been fighting for sometime, the region has been declared safe above altitudes of 30,000 feet by national airspace agencies. The National Air Authority, the sub branch of the Imperial Air Legion that monitors civilian airlines and operates airports, raised the altitude for Tarsan flights over Drakkar to 35,000 feet last June as a safety precaution. That particular altitude was considered out of range of the most powerful anti air defense systems the rebels were believed to possess.

The passenger manifests reveal that of the 482 passengers on the plane, 224 were Emmerian, 161 were Belhavian, 42 were Western, 21 were Itailian, and 6 were Rodarian. Twenty-eight passengers were unaccounted and the NAA has launched an investigation to determine if any were of Tarsan origin. The NAA reports that it believes none of the passengers were from Tarsas but a thorough investigation will be launched to be completely sure.

The Tarsan embassy in Oured, D.A. has formally requested the release of the passenger manifest. In an available public petition sent to the President's office, the ambassador to Emmeria, Titus Vextus Cantala, requested that Air Emmeria make the manifest known so that nations involved could begin to mourn their dead. The NAA has also stated that passenger manifests would be ideal, as there would be no need to investigate through more complicated means.

The ambassador issued a formal statement on the matter. "We beseech Air Emmeria and the Emmerian government to release the passenger manifest to the public, so that the dead may be remembered and mourned. The sooner we know, the faster loved ones can enter the mourning process and make final plans to bury their friends and family that were lost."

At this time, the plane is said to have crashed. The NAA has said it will be keeping a watch on the UR's National Aviation Service's investigation into the matter. Significant evidence exists, however, that points to the aircraft being shot down by a surface to air missile. Satellite photos showed a significant fireball before the plane went down. NAA experts agree that no such internal malfunction could cause the plane to explode. While NAA experts have not physically been to the site, reliable sources say that the crash site is large and the plane was entirely blown to pieces. The entirety of the remains are also badly charred. The bodies indicate that people were rapidly exposed to high speed air pressure.

Rebel forces claim that the plane was shot down by Italia to frame them, which some believe was a slip of tongue by rebel forces. "The rebels are admitting that the aircraft was indeed shot down. While no one has taken responsibility, I believe we can verify that this was an attack on civilians by that statement", wrote Doctor Altara Vecra, of the Institute of Aviation Maintenance and Design in Vinovia. Doctor Vecra also confirmed through images that the aircraft shows all the signs of being shot down. Rebel forces are also confirmed to be in possession of a missile platform capable of shooting down high altitude aircraft.

Word of the event was followed by an emergency session of the Imperial Senate. The Senate has been deliberating on a formal vote to extend full recognition to Drakkar at the request of the Ivory Palace but a measure was passed to suspend the vote on the Drakkar Recognition Order until the party that was responsible for Flight 212's demise is discovered. The Foreign Ministry released a statement after the vote. "In light of the Flight 212 tragedy, the vote to extend recognition to the Drakkar state has been suspended. Until the responsible party is found and punished, the vote will not be held."

The NAA also followed up the statement by announcing that it would be suspending all flights to Drakkar and declaring a No-Fly Zone over the region. The flight ban applies to any civilian flight, whether it is operated by an airline within the nation or outside of it. Any flight bound for Drakkar that lands in Tarsas will be forced to change its route or it will not be allowed to take off. An NAA spokesperson commented on the seemingly draconian measure. "We are avoiding the situation entirely, whether it be legal repercussions or an adverse effect on relations between our state and another, by not permitting any flight that enters Tarsan airspace and uses its facilities, to depart for Drakkar directly. Obviously, the NAA has no jurisdiction over outside airspace but we can confidently say that no flights will be going directly to Drakkar from Tarsas." As the situation develops, we will keep you updated.

CoG, Pardes (GBC) — The Abliyan Civil War, an ongoing humanitarian conflict that has ravaged the small Ashizwan nation since the early 70s, took a more complicated turn yesterday after a checkpoint controlled by Geannese Peacekeepers came under attack by militiamen suspected to belong to Abdul Kangu's ''Albiyan Liberation Front'', one of the warlord and militia groups that has fought over the country since the Shanda Coup D'Etat in 1971 and the later collapse of the nation's government.

Since 1994, warlords fighting for control had agreed to a neutrality pact with the Geannese government, in response the Geannese would manage checkpoints to small forward operating bases or FOBs that would frequently distribute food, water, medical supplies, and clothing to villages around them. Several times since then Geanna has had to coordinate a series of ''police actions'' in the country following past attempts by different warring groups to take FOBs. This usually involved strengthening security and tracking down those responsible for the attacks.

In the recent months however, GHOISA or the Geannese Humanitarian Operation In Service to Albiya has reported an increase of activity in militia patrols near FOBs particularly during service hours when villagers are allowed to enter the FOBs to receive provisions. Unfortunately due to the Neutrality deal the Geannese negotiated, they can not intervene on these patrols without just cause. As such the situation has been a relatively peculiar one, commanders at these FOBs know exactly what they have been doing and have increased security at their checkpoints, however unless directly provoked or on an official humanitarian mission to a nearby village, they're not allowed to leave the base.

''We see them every few days, they'll arrive in technicals and watch us for a few hours then leave, it's one of those things where it's like, I can see you, and you know I can see you, but you know I can't get you'' Major Harris of FOB Anten told GBC. The attack occurred at FOB Charris, 18 kilometers south-east of Anten during service hours. Two trucks rammed the barricade of the checkpoint as several militia men tried to gain access through the checkpoint, opening fire villagers inside the FOB panicked and Peacekeepers found themselves in a gun battle. In all, 4 peacekeepers were killed, 2 wounded and airlifted to a nearby hospital, no villagers were killed in the firefight.

GHOISA stated in a press release to our GBC correspondents in the region that this was the first attack in several years, ''There will be more, I've no doubt, and we'll be ordered to capture those responsible, it happens like clockwork every few years'' Major Harris stated. He also further informed us of the situation on the ground in the past few months. Since 2013, the Albiyan Liberation Front broke their treaty with the Shengal Knights, a militia group that had long neighboured the FOBs, Abdul Kengu, who's the warlord of the ALF started to make significant advances into Shengal territory which put the ALF on the Geannese doorstep. With this fighting, following a bad drought, both the Shengal and the ALF have supposedly been desperate for supplies and provisions. Provisions that the Geannese have in the FOBs.

In the last month alone, there's been 124 attacks on nearby villages by the ALF. Major Harris told GBC that the attacks have remained consistent after every service day, ''They know which villages have what and when they get it - and not long after these people return to their villages, are they forced to give up the provisions'' he said. In fact, several villages have also had in increase of abductions, ALF have been reported to abducting Albiyan children for their ranks, unfortunately the Geannese troops posted here are not permitted to respond to the abductions, often having to shut their gates to crying and screaming mothers from nearby villages.

President Isulia Anina was briefed on the situation and the attack and stated that she condemned the actions carried out by Abdul Kangu stating that they were a ''clear violation of the treaty decided and agreed upon in 1993''. Despite the condemnation, Anina has promised a more direct action but has not further commented on what exactly - time will only tell.

CoG, Pardes (GBC) — Many already have high hopes for the newly elected President, Isula Anina - who some claim, may lead to a much stronger Geanna than ever before. Such views were outlined in several different media outlets from Mind of the People magazine and Ruballer's Gazette who depicted Anina as a ''strong minded and capable woman necessary for a greater future'' - even the ''Winchester Noble'' a very popular outlet who runs reviews, papers and a website and are renowned for their harsh critics had nothing but good words saying, ''King Dmitri Alestei pulled the nation from a revolution; Anina will pull the nation from the deeps and build a legacy for a new Generation, She is the 'Lady of Stone''

In fact popular social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, and several others have seen an influx of posts about the ''Lady of Stone'' or ''Maiden of Stone'', since her election Google reported a massive spike in searches by users of the two terms and of Anina directly. ''Winchester Noble'' further went on to say, ''If Geanna ever needed a more popular celebrity who was strong and inspiring, a person who would unite the nation in its darkest hour, it is Anina''. With such positive words by critics who've been renowned for their harsh reviews of politicians and celebrities world wide, Anina lacks nay-sayers it seems.

The GBC had the pleasure of scheduling an interview with President Anina earlier today who also allowed our film crew in on the interview. After an hour of dealing with security we were finally greeted by the popular President who had quite a lot to talk about, and we had plenty of questions. Both GBC's Melanie Laveau and Harrison Konstantinous greeted Anina as they took a seat. The transcription of what occurred is below for your viewing.

Melanie Laveau: Good Morning, Madam President

President Anina: Good Morning

Melanie Laveau: It's not too often we actually receive the chance to sit down with any of the politicians from the Square, so it is indeed quite a pleasure I must say; However if I may, just before we begin, what made your mind about allowing us to interview you?

President Anina: Well, as you know, I've been in politics for almost fifteen years now, I remained as the Chairman for Parliament for a few years and a Deputy Minister for the Ministry of Interior for around two years - and I always felt there was this sort of... disconnect between the leaders of the country and the public. I mean, you can watch us on the television and we're always so formal and being littered with the flashing of cameras, it just seems so disconnected. I feel allowing coverage of the GBC to interview me would be a way to close that gap between the Government and the public, it'd provide a more direct outlet and voice between the two.

Melanie Laveau: So you feel that it's really important for the Public to be closer to their leader?

President Anina: I do indeed, that's the beauty about democracy, it gives the public a voice but the voice has to be heard at some point without being lost in the bureaucracy and politics of everything

Melanie Laveau: Alright, well first question then, there's been a lot going on in the news here lately, the Chyekish Soviet Union detonating warheads, the downing of an AirEmmeria flight in Drakkar, and of course the economic crisis we've entered as a result of the OPA sanctions. So there's a lot to cover, however, I think we'll start more close to home first and work our way out. After the civil unrest that swarmed Adrianople and Garsa, and the sanctions that brought a loss of some 567 million pounds to the economy, how do you feel about that? How bad did that crisis really damage the nation?

President Anina: Ah, well it's quite complicated really. Then again politics is always complicated, there's never black and white - as you know Parliament withdrew from the OPA and it was almost unanimous on joining the RCO during the crisis, however I feel that the situation spiraled too far out of control by public fear, I mean in all honesty, 567 million pounds is indeed a loss, and it definitely hurt some companies, but it really should've been just pocket change.

When Italia decided to manipulate the embargo for its own gain and the OPA turned a blind eye, it did indeed hurt trade and I felt it also felt like a betrayal to the Geannese public creating harsh feelings for the organization - Parliament's mistake was cutting off all exports in an attempt to comply with the resolution and maybe, just maybe get it repealed quicker. This created a trade deficit of almost 450 million because we were still receiving imports, we held many board sessions over the situation, and Parliament decided that what money it had needed to be saved to keep the country running so they defaulted on the import payments.

In all, I believe Parliament acted too hastily, the public was starting to panic because the media ran away with it, and Parliament had never dealt with sanctions before - what also hurt us domestically was that businesses were upset we were complying, it was odd, and they started shutting their doors to protest Parliament complying with the OPA - this only fueled the anger of the public more and we thus resulted in the massive civil unrest in Adrianople and Garsa. So I do have to agree in all honesty with the Public, the OPA did turn their back on us, and I feel a lot of that had to deal with ulterior motives, the OPA in reality is dominated by CDI politics, and although Geanna has tried to retain a neutral stance - we trade with nations like Rodarion, a nation that has held a very interesting relationship with us. The sanctions were a response to us sinking their tankers, and although we mended that situation, Italia did manipulate the legislation because of an on-going conflict between the Papal Republic and them, the OPA did nothing. I will say that the crisis did hurt us, but I don't believe it is as bad as people think, we only lost 800,000 jobs during the crisis and are already making a rebound thanks to a deal with Yohannes and bailouts by other Pardesian nations.

Melanie Laveau: I see, so do you agree with the public then on blaming Italia for the crisis?

President Anina: I do, I do believe they should be held responsible for manipulating legislation, but I'm also displeased with Parliament for acting so hastily. Sadly, the OPA I highly doubt will listen to any such plea.

Melanie Laveau: What do you think was Parliament's reason for joining the RCO afterwards?

President Anina: Purely political, it was a gesture to the CDI I've no doubt. For years we've retained a mostly neutral stance but we have been more leaned towards countries like Emmeria, Eslovakia and Belfras. They are what constitutes 'Free Pardes' among others, and we've agreed a lot with their policies but the inaction Parliament saw during the crisis fueled a drive to say we were done with this.

Melanie Laveau: Alright, and may I ask what plans you have for your office and term? What kind of policies will we see in the future?

President Anina: Education, definitely Education. Parliament passed the new Education Reform Bill months before the crisis to further expand the budget for our Education program, we're aiming for cheaper loans, ensuring schools have the materials they need and instituting a ''No child left behind'' program. Thanks to Yohannes as well, the Eastern shipyards and ports such as Ilople will see massive expansions to be able to build ships for Royal Beaufort, a deal that would recreate some 800,000 jobs. I also want to open up our markets much more to foreign investors, we've already seen the Sel Corp Group and the Royal Trading Company making huge investments and stock shifts on several different markets, they're one of the few companies that shrugged the crisis off, but they also manage multi-billion dollar contracts with several governments around the globe. In fact, the RTC deal that was made with Myrmidon Tactical Design in Sondria industrialized Triela and pushed Geanna's overall manufacturing capability, I feel beyond any other Pardesian nation to date. In fact, we saw our unemployment rate drop from 12% to 7% over a few years thanks to the deal.

Melanie Laveau: And, what about foreign policy? What should be done about Italia, the OPA, and the Drakkar crisis?

President Anina: Well, as I said, we've remained mostly neutral, we've always been a nation about trade, we want to build relations however as our trade was threatened here in the last few months I feel a harsher policy is needed now. We're seeing a rise in power blocs in the region, and I don't believe we can sit on the sidelines anymore. No doubt, Italia must and will pay eventually, the public and Parliament's anger at the Italians has barely dimmed. As far as the Drakkar crisis, we do support the independence movement, however we're not so eager to recognize the rebels, especially after the downing of AirEmmeria, we've dispatched investigators to help find out what occurred with the aircraft.

It's obvious some form of negligence occurred, and I feel Italia should be held responsible, reports said the plane could have been downed by a Nike Anti-Aircraft missile, a system that was conveniently left in a warehouse by the Italians. Parliament has discussed the issue, and believes that it was intentional by the Italian government to try and discredit the Drakkar rebels and dwindle their support. So there's a lot of questions there on that. As far as the OPA, I feel Geanna needs to rejoin the organization as it really is needed for cooperation, but I don't feel it needs a more anti-CDI stance, but to act as a mediator between the RCO and CDI.

Melanie Laveau: And what can we expect in the upcoming weeks over Albiya? As you know an attack was carried out that killed several Geannese peacekeepers.

President Anina: I feel we've been too lenient in that part of the region, I will say that Parliament is considering a more direct involvement since these deaths can not go unanswered. Whether or not this will lead to a final military action is too early to tell.

Melanie Laveau: Alright, well that's all the time we have for, I thank you for your time Madame President

President Anina: It's been a pleasure, Thank you as well.

Investigations are ongoing regarding the plane crash.

Constantinople, Konstantineian Capital Territory — On August the first, Air Emmeria Flight 212 went down over the region of Drakkar, in Itailia, 22 kilometres (13 miles) from the city of Nece, during it's designated Provisa-San Loma route. Undeniably one of the most devastating accidents in the history of the aviation industry, all 482 passengers, which entailed 224 Emmerian, 161 Belhavian, 42 Western, 21 Itailian, 6 Rodarian and 28 unaccounted passengers, according to passenger manifests, are believed to have died in the event. The 28 passengers mentioned were not named, although the Federal Government fear that ten Eaglelanders, six Arthuristans, six Geannese and two Anikatians were in the flight, even though such fears remain unconfirmed for now.

The said flight took off from Provisa, New Belhavia, before landing for a stop in Rosorii de Vede, Rodarion. Afterwards, contact was lost according to Rodarian flight controllers, at 32,000 feet (9,753 metres). The area in which it fell, Drakkar, is currently in a state of war, as Itailian and pro-Rodarian Catholic rebels are engaging each other in battle. This has prevented inspectors to assess the damages caused on the plane. Over the course of the conflict, the airspace over Drakkar had been declared safe by the Federal Aviation Board, with an altitude floor of 30,000 feet (9,144 metres), as it was considered safe from anti-air weapons that the Catholic rebels were believed to field.

Limited evidence exist on the incident: although an ongoing investigation is taking place by the United Republic's National Aviation Service, no physical presence of investigators has been confirmed. However, the plane is believed to have been shot down, exploded in mid-air, the passengers' bodies badly affected, and completely disintegrated to pieces.

Various theories have emerged over this incident. several rebels believe it was the Itailian Forces that shot down the plane so as to frame them and gain moral ground, while other news organisations believe that the rebels did shoot down the plane themselves. The Imperial Broadcast Agency's article mentions that Doctor Altara Vecra, of the Institute of Aviation Maintenance and Design in Vinovia, Tarsas, believes that the plane's wreckage images show all signs of a missile hit on a plane.

The Federal Government have announced today that the accident is a tragic loss of lives and requested that AirEmmeria identify the remaining 28 passengers non-accounted for in released manifests. Furthermore, a contigent of 100 soldiers from the Eagleland Army, supported by 10 medically-trained volunteers from the People's Commonwealth of Arthurista, will be deployed to Itailia, authorised and supported by the Itailian Government and Armed Forces, to extract from the scene and facilitate the repatriation process of any and all passengers to their native countries. Neither the Arthuristan nor the Itailian Governments could be reached for comments on this move.

The Eagleland's non-recognition stance on Drakkar will remain unaltered over the course of the investigations until completion, when said stance will be re-assessed.

Ioanna Vlassi reported from Constantinople, KCT. Konstantinos Irakeides contributed to the article from Constantinople, KCT.

Emperor Carlos X meets with President Anina of Geanna
Emperor Carlos X arrives in Saxonople to discuss the situation in Albiya

Emperor Carlos X with his wife in the Geannese capital

On the invitation of the new Geannese President and on the demand of political circles in Los Reyes, Emperor Carlos X has arrived in Saxonople to begin talks over the current situation in Albiya. It is believed that the Emperor is also meeting with Geannese officials to discuss new economic deals and other co-operation deals which may range from green-energy initiatives to more political cooperation between Los Reyes and Saxonople. The meetings will place at the Autumn Palace, the seat of Geanna's government, where the Emperor enjoyed the chance to speak before the Geannese Parliament upon his arrival as a special guest. His Excellency's arrival to Geanna marks the first time a Ulthrannic monarch has stepped foot in the Commonwealth of Geanna in over forty years. Although expressing his trademark humility, the topic of Albiya was reached in his speech, the Emperor expressed the following:

"But all the while, a nation is bleeding, a nation that has suffered from the prowls of opportunists and murderers and violence seekers and as sister nations of the RCO, we have an obligation to fulfill to those who are less fortunate than us for one reason or another; it is a requirement of nations who have the ability to help when other nations cannot stand on their own, be it from years of depression or starvation or poverty or, in the case of Albiya, civil strife."

Albiya has been in the midst of civil war since the early 1970s after the People's Republic of Albiyah, the communist government that took power in 1963, collapsed creating a power vacuum that led to the state's current condition. Today, Albiya is a broken state with warlords biding for territory and attempting to control access to food supplies and poverty beginning to reach into all corners of the state. The Ulthrannic Empire rarely took interest in the conflict as the civil war broke out at the time when the overseas provinces in Ashizwe began to rise up against the Imperial government. Today, however, with an expanding foreign policy and a heightened interest in Ashizwean affairs, the civil war in Albiya has grabbed the attention of the power base in Los Reyes.

"How long can we sit idly by and what innocent people suffer when we have the willpower, the resources and the ability to quickly respond quite literally at our finger tips. Your Excelleny, Carlos X, go help Albiya" Congressman Miguel Atencio from Neo Patria said in a session of the Congress of Deputies, so much so that a twitter hashtag #gohelpalbiya was circulated online showing that there are some in Ulthrannia who support the notion.

With everyone from Vicar-Elect Magallanez de Fe, celebrities and even members of the Court of Nobles and the Ulthrianist Faith saying that the time was now to intervene in the crisis, which was sparked by the deaths of four Geannese peacekeepers and an escalation of violence in the country, there are some who believe that in the near future Ulthrannians could be joining Geannese forces in an attempt to conduct peacekeeping operations. However, there are some who believe that this is the perfect time for the Empire to return in force to an Ashizwean state and also expand its sphere of influence.

"Just like with Seukutan, Ulthrannia is combining the genuine intentions of assistance and support with the ulterior motive of geo-political posturing and gains that can be made" Professor Lachlan Rhodes of the University of Lowesport wrote in a op-ed beginning to circulate in Arthurista "And also like Seukutan, Ulthrannians will be jumping into a complicated civil war with various factions and many differing needs and ideologies. One thing that isn't clear is, whether the Ulthrannians will use the same heavy-handed approach to these warlords as they have with the communist rebels in their east or the Seukutii warlords on their border."

President Anina of Geanna will sit with the Emperor in a formal conference on the subject tomorrow.
