Austria Freed
COMMENTARY | UNIBOT

Image
"A glorious liberation," says long-time native, Horst Tappert.

An attempted invader refound of Austria has been intercepted by defender forces. The defensive mission has been a team effort from TITO, LLA, The UDL, The FRA Rangers, The RRA and Spiritus.

This thwarted invasion is yet another example of invaders attempting to disguise themselves as natives caught in a “civil war” – hoping to justify their behavior and frame defenders for countering their activities. The two main invaders involved have gone by the names, “Leoben” and “Austria United”.

In December 2013, while Austria remained founderless, Leoben and Austria United had moved into Austria and endorsed each other – behavior which would have warranted defensive action if defenders had spotted and acted on it then. When the founder returned Austria, Leoben and Austria United resigned from the WA, dropping into inactive obscurity, only to return to the World Assembly, several months later immediately after the founder of Austria once again Ceased-to-Exist. At that time, they had begun to organize an attempt to refound Austria.

Ravania, UDL Chief, told The Rejected Times that Leoben had contacted him -- requesting UDL’s assistance to refound Austria. Suspicions were raised when Leoben denounced Horst Tappet, long-time Austrian native, as “untrustworthy”, preferring instead to serve as founder of the region himself.

The mission to liberate Austria and recover it from a hostile and imminent refounding was a success with Horst Tappert taking the delegacy, 25-14, despite Leoben soliciting outside endorsements.

Tappert called the mission, “a glorious liberation”.

He was positive for the future of Austria on the Regional Message Board.

“I will try to clean up this mess as soon as possible and restore Austria to its quiet and peaceful self once again,” says Horst.

Meanwhile Ravania told The Rejected Times that this was what should have been done in December. Personally however, I reckon you can never be too late for Christmas and in this sweltering month of July, one dedicated native is celebrating the best gift of all: freedom and security for his homeland!

Full credit goes to TITO on this one, we just followed them for the giggles.

I don't see how Austria was under raider jurisdiction prior to this "liberation". If it was under any serious raider groups jurisdiction surely they'd have reinforced it appropriately. Unless there is some actual evidence for this, on a cursory glance it just looks like a classic case of defenders meddling in the internal affairs of a region which doesn't concern them.

Now they can't actually take on actual raider occupations, they're picking on amateur small regions and fabricating conspiracies to justify random liberations...

If this is the case, I'm curious why TITO receives one passing mention in The Rejected Times article but the UDL Chief of the Band is quoted twice. :P

Ravania was available for comment. TITO's leadership has a standard no-comment response for all requests. This was why TITO is listed first in the list of defender armies involved in the mission (the rest are in no particular order).

Unibot did approach me about offering a quote, but seeing as I'm not currently a member of TITO's Command, I thought that'd be inappropriate of me to do. Instead I sent him to Wordy's inbox which is SOP for telegrams I don't feel like answering :p

jk I really do go out of my way to at least reply to every Tg I recieve (other than campaigns and recruitments). If you ask me to speak or do something in a TITO capacity, I will send you to Wordy as she is the field commander.

Just want to point out that after we liberated, a lot of nations supporting Austria United were banned from the WA for multing.

I'm curious as to why TITO did their "liberation" when they did. Ainur moved in unofficially and TITO "liberated" them. They left, and Ainur gave them enough influence to remove every nation except Horst and one other with too much influence for us to be able to help them budge. We left, saying we might be back later to try helping with allies. Only to hear about the liberation little over a week after we left officially.

Why not liberate when TITO held the region before? It would have been much easier.

Better than leaving a region you are delegate of...(Frattastan was Delegate of TRR at that time)
And if a founder loses interest, he or she gets deleted. And it looks like that happened here.

It worked, which is enough for me.
Had he not returned a liberation would've happened, but contacting the founder seemed the best first option to combat a sleeper operation.

Commander of what army? The RRA? TRR delegates do not control the RRA.
