WMI began as a drag racing track in the city of Wyndham near the mid-1900s. It was eventually converted into a small airport in 1967, named Wyndham Regional Airport, servicing no more than three or four general aviation flights a day. In 1972, cargo and charter flights began pouring into Wyndham Regional. The original drag racing track was repaved in concrete instead of asphalt to allow for better runway conditions. Wyndham Regional was afflicted with severe congestion and delays until 1984, when the Booker Hyden International Airport opened 60 miles to the northeast. Much of the general aviation and charter flights began flying to BHI instead of Wyndham Regional. However, Wyndham was a bustling and growing city - an international airport 60 miles away and a small regional airport would simply not suffice, so in 1986, the airport closed as the original terminals were demolished and rebuilt. The airport property was also expanded to include nearby properties at this time to make room for many modern airport needs, such as emergency services, and also to allow for longer runways that could handle wide-body jumbo jets. The airport finally re-opened in 1991 with a general aviation terminal, cargo terminal, and a commercial passenger terminal. This setup served quite well until 1998, when flights were being delayed as much as two hours waiting for an opportunity to take off or land. In 2006, the airport was finally able to close again in order to make renovations, finally re-opening in 2010 with a completely new international passenger terminal. The original passenger terminal now serves all budgetAir flights arriving and departing from the airport, and the general aviation and cargo terminals still serve their original functions.

WMI is located just minutes off of the B250 freeway that passes north of downtown Wyndham. Exits 13 - 17 all provide access to the airport.

If you're traveling on business and stuck on a layover, WMI has the options necessary for you to be productive outside of the office. Conference rooms are available throughout both passenger terminals, as well as free gigabit high-speed Internet, domestic and international phone service, document printing, photocopying, and faxing, and postal services. Public computer workstations are also available at a limited cost if you need access to a computer during your stay at the airport. If you would like to take advantage of any of these services, simply ask any airport worker.

Image

WMI has no lodging options available at this time. We are inquiring with hotel groups such as Vandeviere and others about bringing their services here shortly.

Emergency services are available both on-site and off-site. The Wyndham City Police patrol the premises 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to ensure that the safety and well-being of passengers is never in jeopardy. AED units and EpiPens are available in every gate in each terminal and are available throughout other locations in the terminal, as are smoke detectors, fire alarms, and manual pull stations. To report an emergency, call 911 within the vicinity of the airport. In the case of a fire, pull the nearest manual pull station if the fire alarm has not been activated yet and proceed to the nearest exit. To report a tip or suspicious baggage, call 711 within the vicinity of the airport. To request assistance that is not an emergency, call 611 within the vicinity of the airport.

Image
Image

Over three thousand security cameras cover the airport grounds. Each is linked to a system that performs facial recognition checks against an international and domestic no-fly list. Each entrance (except for emergency exits) to both terminals are equipped with security cameras, a high-speed variable-wavelength X-ray machine, and a chemical detector that detects firearms, incendiary devices, and illegal substances, among other things. At the actual security checkpoint, the same setup is in addition to a baggage X-ray scanner, full body imaging system, and metal detector.

Image

For the safety and protection of the airport and the personnel and passengers within, the aircraft that arrive and depart to and from the airport and the passengers and crew within, certain items are prohibited onboard any flights arriving at or departing from the Republic of Alebcay:
  • Any liquid container greater than 3 ounces
  • Food or drink that has been opened or tampered with
  • Knives or other objects with blades longer than 0.5cm, concealed or displayed
  • Non-domesticated animals
  • Plants (on arrivals only)
  • Loaded or unloaded firearms, concealed or displayed
  • Ammunition
  • Incendiary devices or components thereof
  • Pressurized canisters
This list is subject to change at any time. Additional restrictions may be imposed on international flights. If you are flying internationally, you should consult the regulations of your destination prior to packing your bags.

Alebcay Metro Transit is the easiest way to get between the airport and various other destinations throughout the nation of Alebcay. There is also a direct link between WMI and BHI that runs every 15 minutes. The ride in one-direction is approximately 30 minutes. The fare for the direct link (in one direction) is $6.50 NSD.

WMI has an official taxi service that services most of the greater Wyndham area. The rate is $5.45 NSD plus $0.65 for the first 20 miles (32 km) plus $1.25 per additional mile (1.6 km). Unofficial/self operated taxi services also provide service to the airport. Their fares and coverage area may vary. Buses also make routine stops at the airport and provide service to the downtown districts of Wyndham.

Shuttle buses provide rides every 15 minutes to the rental car center as well as off-site lodging. These shuttle buses are provided free of charge.

Ms. Hyde,

Greetings from Libetta, Astyria! Thank you for contacting LibettAir today. I have checked with the manager for Libetta Capital International Airport that we can secure your order, and I am most delighted to accept. Wyndham Metropolitan International is an airport of distinction to us and we are satisfied that the management at that airport is thorough and efficient, so we would be very happy to operate flights between WMI and LLI.

Thank you for taking the time to read this order; we really appreciate your help to give us a fresh start on this new project. Changes requested have now been noted by both LibettAir and LibPort. Should you have further queries or concerns, please email me at coo@libettair.com. Have a great day!

Dear Ms. Hyde,

The Imperial Realm of Romberg is very interested in expanding relations with your nation, and especially in the area of trade. As a result, we would like to establish a flight route between your nation and ours through our state-owned flag carrier airline Rombergia. The details for the proposed route are shown in the attachments.

For more information on our airline, feel free to consult our airline information page here . Do note that due to recent security concerns, we would require a confirmation application on our official airline page to prove reception of this application. (OOC: Please post on my thread as well)

I hope that with the interests of both nations taken into consideration, our proposal for the establishment of a route would be seriously considered, and that it could be approved as soon as possible.

Yours Sincerely,

Mr. Andrei Karlsson,

Attention: Airport Food & Beverage Director

Does your airport take pride in providing the best in customer service to your guests? We believe the answer is a resounding yes. And we believe airports are an important factor in helping guests prepare for their holidays. However, rarely does a beverage selection go beyond the basics of quenching thirst. We have the answer for you which will not only quench your guests thirsts but also mentally prepare them for their holidays.

South Seas Soda Company has been handcrafting traditional and tropical sodas for 140 years, making it one of the world's oldest soda companies still in existence. In addition, we currently have 33 vintage and new flavors to choose from. All of our vintage flavors are the exact recipe penned by our founder over a hundred years ago, while our new flavor combinations are masterfully created by our creative flavor team. With so much experience and a wide variety of choices available, our 16 oz. glass bottled sodas can not be beaten. We believe each of your guests will find a soda they can love.

South Seas Soda Company believes in the transforming ability of our tropical sodas to mentally transport an individual to the tropics, even if only for a short while. This makes a perfect compliment to your airport, as your flights are physically transporting your guests to a new location. No doubt many of your guests are taking a holiday. What better way to quench their in-flight thirst than with a soda holiday to the South Seas?

We believe a partnership with your airport is of mutual benefit to both of our respective companies. Our company would be delighted to join the food and beverage selections offered within your terminals, and formally requests such an addition from your management. If possible, we would like to be located in your international terminals.

We await your response with great anticipation for the wonderful things that may become.

With cheer,

RE: Terminal Rental

Greetings,
As part of our expanding services into international flights for our business travelers and tourists, we are wanting to extend your airport to our list of destinations. As our nation continues to grow economically, we're seeking to expand our reach to match. We feel that the Republic of Alebcay is well suited for our goals in this regard. I do wish to inquire how your facility handles refueling though. Is the cost of this built into the gate rental fees or is this a separate charge handled on a case by case basis?

I look forward to hearing back from you and your establishment.

SUBJECT: International destination
DATE: Friday, September 19, 2014

Allow me to introduce myself: I am Arnold Böhler, Destiny Airlines’ Business Executive. I am responsible for administrating communication between different international companies, to answer letters from both our customers and other companies and I am also responsible for the establishment, proposal and authorization of different types of partnerships. As a part of the airline’s executive team, I work closely with the president, chief executive officer and chief operations officer of the airline, to maintain a high standard of leadership and accountability.

Destiny Airlines is always looking for new ways that we can expand our international flight schedule, and it seems that by operating flights to Alebcay, we can do just that! We would like to commence the operation of flights from Los Angeles International Airport and Miami International Airport in the United States to Wyndham Metropolitan International Airport in Alebcay 5 times a week. If you choose to accept our request, please allow us fourteen days - no more, no less - to furnish our gates to our required standards. Thank you for your time - I wish you good luck for the coming future!
