PASSED: Liberate belgium

Postby Goobergunchia » Wed Jul 08, 2009 3:01 am

I rise to submit the following proposal before the Security Council, and ask for delegates to approve it.

SECURITY COUNCIL

Liberate belgium

A resolution to strike down Delegate-imposed barriers to free entry in a region

Category: Liberation | Nominee (region): belgium | Proposed by: Goobergunchia

Description: The region of Belgium has been home to a regional community for over six years -- a community so old, it predated the establishment of Regional Founders. On 29 May 2009, Macedon and Mencer successfully invaded Belgium. Within 36 hours, invader delegate Wallonia-Flanders had password-protected the region and begun ejecting and banning long-time natives of the region. The occupation of the region drew condemnation from across the NationStates community, with defenders and invaders alike coming together to criticize the destruction of Belgium.

With a secret password in place, it would impossible for the natives of Belgium to reclaim their region, dooming the region to a slow death. While we hesitate to interfere in the internal affairs of regions, World Assembly intervention is the only course of action left that will allow the rightful inhabitants of Belgium to reclaim their home.

Therefore, the World Assembly hereby lifts the password on the region of Belgium, and forbids said region from being password-protected.

For more evidence regarding Belgium, I submit the following:

Belgium (Gameplay Forum);
Equilism Condemns Macedonian Empire;
Regarding the Belgium griefing from the North Pacific;
and last but certainly not least, the debate on Security Council Resolution #1: Condemn Macedon.

I yield the floor.

That's an easy decision: IN FAVOR.

This resolution should allow priorly ejected (but not banned) Belgium natives to return to their home region. It will also allow the interregional community to come to the assistance of said natives in attempting to reclaim their home territory.

I would like everybody to vote an astounding yes on this resolution. This way we get a decent chance to reclaim what's ours. Doesn't mean it'll be easy, but it's possible

You got my approval, but it isn't just Belgium we need to liberate. The ambassadors to various nations already noted most of the countries that are occupied by Macedon.

I think there's a big enough crowd wanting to do something about all these regions now the tools have been provided. But i'd say let's take one step at a time.

Yes, I recognise Belgium as our No.1 priority, followed by Greece and then mainly non-European states.

Once we gone through the list, the avengers should then pounce on Macedon itself.

Oh my, a WA resolution can actually REMOVE password from a region? AND keep it from being re-installed? Whats next, I submit a WA resolution that I want to be the founder of every single region in this game, and if it passes, that actually happens?

First they make update time 6 am, now this. This is all a conspiracy against me :D :D :D

Maybe that has to do with most players not liking griefers.

I strongly encourage the delegates of NS to vote for.

There has to be pretty significant public support for something like this to pass so I don't think its exactly unfair. It'll be a good lesson in life for you Dysian, if you manage to piss enough people off then no matter how safe you think you are, the roof will eventually come down on you.

Its not exactly on topic but I wouldn't exactly consider Greece to be an immediate priority after this. Greece joined an inter-regional alliance that chose to go to war with another in-game group. Greece remained in this alliance despite this and suffered the consequences of war. I do believe they are sorting their differences out diplomatically but Greece weren't exactly an innocent group when they were implicated in a war against the group that invaded them.

Well if gameplay allows it, I guess it really isn't unfair. Oh well, I'll just wake up at 6 AM every day and kick people out of belgium :D

As for Greece, what type of "WA proposal" do you plan to gain it with? It's surely not the remove password one, since it doesn't have a password. Don't tell me theres a WA proposal demanding that the founder is changed. That would really work on Greece, you could even take down Macedon and Mencer that way

Although I'm typically opposed to SC resolutions on principle, I'm willing to offer my full support for this one. I also would like to take the opportunity to urge members to sanction Dysean, or whatever it is.
If you see I've made a mistake in my wording or a factual detail, telegram me and I'll fix it. I'll even give you credit for pointing it out, if you'd like.

Hhhmm... I prefer this format to be honest. But let's discuss that elsewhere. (like a 'How to write a good Liberation proposal ?' thread)

My region is echoing a resounding yes for this proposal, my region's delegate has already been informed of its existence, and will be endorsing it within the next few hours. If there is one, real dark force, crippling our world's security - it would have to be Macedon.

"We understand that the word 'Gameplay' some delegations make use of refers to the creative (ab)use of World Assembly procedure, somewhat like the predecessor to Morozova's delegacy of the North Pacific's striking of hundreds of nations from the rolls of nations in the North Pacific. I see it as referring to 'gaming' the system. While colloquial, I'm sure we can tolerate such foibles."

Yeah, you actually have to *try* now, you know, like raiders do. Not by password-grabbing a region and sitting there. Can't expose inadequacy that way!

I am also in favor of this. It should be more difficult for invaders to take regions.
