German, Swedish, Dutch, or Norwegian? (Or Russian?)

I may be a tad late in, but Swedish. It can be used in all the Nordic countries barring Iceland, and they are the most beautiful places I've seen. The culture is awesome and the people are really really lovely too (or at least that was my experience). Swedish also has a unique (and I think pretty) way of accenting words.
Plus, a lot of English features are from Old Norse (like pronouns). In the grand scheme of things English isn't much less similar to Swedish than Dutch. English has more similar syntax and gender to Swedish than to Dutch/German, so Swedish is probably easier. I was surprised at how easy it was. I hear German is HARD.
Though it depends on why you want to learn. For universal utility - German. For places/culture and ease - Swedish.

What do you think of Swedish v Norwegian? I hear Norwegian would help you understand Swedish and Danish better than Swedish would help you understand Norwegian and Danish.

Learn German because I think it's the most usefull

Way more people speak German, learn German.

It's also a bitch to learn. Unless you're seriously committed to it, comfortable with Latin grammar and word order, it'll take just under a decade to actually learn the language. Don't get me wrong, eine schöne Sprache ist, and it's very useful, but I regret signing up for it.

Part of me hopes I'll speak it in the end, but really, try Norwegian or Dutch out first. Norwegian is closer to English in some respects, so check it out first. It's pretty useless outside of Norway, though. English would be a Norwegian's second language anyway.

If you speak English, you don't really need any more to learn within today and the next five-ten decades.

It's not that bad....especially when you lived there for three years like myself. Granted I lost a tad bit but not a lot. Hallo, Danke, Bitte Ein Bit, Ein hefeweizen bitte, Guten tag, Guten morgen, Guten...nacht I think it was. Ein, zwei, Trei and all the other numbers albeit I can't really spell them.
