Papal Navy defeats Arthuristan incursion

A Papal Air Force RE-H3 fighter jet takes off for patrol

28th April, 2014| 14.00 PM PCT | înregistrate| By: Nicolae Eliade

According to statements by the Ministry of Defence and Homeland Security, Papal Navy aircraft have been attacked by Arthuristan aircraft after intercepting them some 211km into the Air Defence Identification Zone (ADIZ), the Papal Navy has confirmed three deaths within its response squadron and four Arthuristan aircraft to have been shot down, within 20 minutes of the initial incident, Papal Air Force search planes confirmed the location of five Arthuristan vessels, 184km inside the Naval Exclusion Zone. News soon reached the primary Papal Navy force in the area, that Itailian aircraft were enroute to assist the Arthuristan force in breaching Rodarian sovereign territory. It became clear according to the MoDaHS, that the 'enemy [CDI], was preparing a major strike from the aircraft carrier spotted, it was destroyed.' We understand that a flight of RE-H4 naval bombers attacked and sunk the Arthuristan carrier and heavily damaged an escorting destroyer.

The Ecclesiastical Security Commission has been called to an emergency meeting by his Holiness Pope Pius III to discuss immediate responses. The MoDaHS has declared a nationwide 'condition-one' for all civil defence units and the entire Papal military, the Papal Navy has confirmed all 'coastal defence units have been deployed and are on high alert.' The Foreign Ministry's spokesman, unleashed a slamming condemnation of the Arthuristan incursion into the NEZ and ADIZ.

"This evening's incident is the result of nothing but constant CDI incursions into the Papal Republic's sovereign territory, nothing but constant CDI aggression and subversion. The incident today is the result of Arthuristan arrogance in face of Rodarion's sovereign right to defend its territorial waters and territorial airspace, Arthuristan intransigence has led to the deaths of perhaps nearly 2,000 men and women aboard that carrier that now burns upon the waves. The Arthuristan government should be aware that it is entirely responsible for this incident, we expect the Arthuristan government to accept its responsibilities, if it does not, then this situation will most surely escalate beyond this government's toleration. We urge the Arthuristan governmen and their CDI allies to withdraw all military vessels from the Naval Exclusion zone immediately, all search and rescue operations are to be conducted by the Papal Navy, for the continued security of the NEZ and ADIZ, this is our final assertion, our final warning" the spokesman said.

Thousands appeared outside Saint Peter's Basilica, where they prayed for peace by candle light, his Holiness has returned to the capital from the Saint Mihail Monastery where all other Rodarian born Cardinals are residing for the time being for religious reasons. The State President has denounced the Arthuristan incursion as an 'act of war through unutterable madness.' Many analysts have spoken about the carrier sinking since it was announced an hour ago, with many declaring this to be the tipping point. Deputy State President, Atticus Flavrescu mesined, 'this is it, #gameover'. The Mesins pages of individual Orducii cells across the Papal Republic have been awash with #CrusadehasCome, the Ministry of Christian Culture and Guidance said that all loopholes into twitter and facebook have been shut down for security reasons.

Eyewitnesses across the north and east of the country have reported increased levels of Papal Air Force activity, we cannot confirm these reports, but it does indicate a final move of equipment and assets in face of CDI aggression. The National Police Command has reported that it has recieved 343 requests for 'large scale public rallies' for tomorrow, these requests are usually given to rallies organised by local diocese officials and it appears many of them are being organised by both diocese officials and the Orducii, 300 of them are expected to include over 340,000 people each, in what is being the called the 'Mobilisation of the Ready'.

We will keep you updated as we recieve more information. For a live update, please head to our 24 hour news channel, PRRB1 or PRRB1HD.

Security in Amravira
to be amped up
Saxonople, FCP, Pardes (PNN) — Minutes ago, the Rodarian news agency PRRB reported that Papal forces successfully sunk an Arthuristan carrier and severely damaged a destroyer escort after an air engagement between PRR and Arthuristan forces, this came after the task group from the CDI member allegedly crossed into the ADIZ, which prompted an attack by Papal forces.

The engagement occurred 211km within the ADIZ, which resulted in 3 casualties to the Papal Navy, and 4 Arthuristan aircraft having been shot down. The Arthuristan task group was attacked in a second engagement in the NEZ, where Rodarian bombers were able to sink a carrier and damage the escort. PRRB noted that the Papal military believed that the CDI was preparing to launch an attack and acted pre-emptively.

FCP formally joins the Romula Cooperation Organization - Despite the tensions, His Majesty traveled to Romula Saturday and today officially signed the treaty to join the RCO; a move that many back home view is a proper response to the CDI over the embargo which some believe is causing things in the FCP to finally start to spiral out of control. After an embargo was placed on the FCP for an incident back in 2013, the FCP was barred from trading with any other nations in Pardes, however despite the cooling of those tensions and the renewed friendship between the PRR and FCP, the embargo was never lifted.

This created tension as the light shifted back on the FCP, over it continuance to trade with Pardesian states despite the embargo, though alot may play into the OPA's lack of enforcing the legislation until recently when Italia over tensions with the PRR issues a blockade in the Orlessian sea. In response, the FCP along with a new deployment bill, saw His Majesty attending in Romula for a conference that resulted in today's signing.

Amravira to receive 15,000 fresh PDF troops - Due to recent tensions in the region, Parliament has long been re-considering its foreign policy and national security. A deal that was ushered in some months ago called the Amraviran Defense Pact or ADP; allowed the FCP to base Pravene forces in the Autonomous Republic of Amravira, a satellite state of the PRR. The deal ensured security in Amravira for the PRR, and in return gave the FCP several forward operating bases to act as a deterrent and buffer zone over possible border disputes between Megrelia, Amravira, and the FCP.

However, since the deal, only 2,300 PDF [Pravene Defense Force] troops had been based in the country, but in response to the recent tensions that had developed in Pardes over the last few months, Parliament has become concerned over the geopolitical tension that still may exist on their own borders prompting them to approve a new deployment bill which will see a fresh 15,000 troops deployed and based in Amravira, most notably on the borders with Megrelia.

Police fail to disperse protesters; 24 injured - This morning PNN reported that demonstrations had occurred outside of the Argent Stock Exchange and the Carpathian International Bank in Adrianople, demonstrations of which quickly swelled to several thousand blocking traffic and failing to allow workers of either institutions from entering.

In response, police were quickly dispatched to disperse the crowds, the demonstrators were ordered to leave and had until 5PM EPT to do so; however the crowds gave no such notion in complying. Amid chanting, officers dawning riot equipment attacked the crowds to try and force them back, tear gas and riot shields were used but to no avail. The crowds quickly pushed back, throwing rocks and signs at officers who were dragging away those they'd managed to grab.

Again the officers tried to push the crowds back, but only to be repelled once more, one officer was surrounded by demonstrators and beaten til other officers could push through long enough to grab him. Twelve demonstrators had been arrested, and twenty-four demonstrators along with four police officers had been injured in the struggle. The units have been ordered to stay back and wait for further orders as the night approaches - however, any attempt tonight or tomorrow on the demonstrations will more than likely see another crack of violence.

Announcement Comes on the Heels of the Government Refusal to Honor Resolution 002.

With the bristling exposé on the Organization of Pardesi Affairs a key motivating factor, the Evenguard of Azura announced totday in a stunning development that it was formally withdrawing its membership in the Organization on Monday, triggering a flurry of activity on the social media scene. The maneuver, though unexpected so quickly, is thought to be the culmination of Azura's continuing drawback on regional commitments as per the Praetor's stated design to allow the Evenguard greater flexibility and independence to operate within regional trading spheres. Despite this, many speculate that the maneuver could be politically motivated in response to the increasing polarization of the Organization of Pardesi Affairs in lieu of the escalation of the Itailia-Rodarion crisis.

"We made our points as clearly as we could," Oleg Korzakhov, senior special counsel to the Praetor said during an unscheduled press conference at the Reliquary on Monday morning. "Our position was unequivocally quantified for the Organization of Pardesi Affairs, who chose to let our petition for a redress of grievances sit in a staffer's office for nearly two weeks. Such conduct is unbecoming and unworthy of the Evenguard's attention; therefore, we have enacted our right to self-determination, that we might chart a new and better course for our country and our people."

The bristling rhetoric was no less pointed from Foreign Minister Darcy De Lancie, whose accusatory statements levied at the Organization of Pardesi Affairs drew shocked silence from the members of the press in attendance. "The behavior of the senior offices of the Organization of Pardesian States [sic] is contemptible at best and criminally negligent at worst. To enact measures so wantonly that could further destabilize a region already brewing with dangerous rhetoric and troop mobilizations threatens the very moral fabric of our shared societies, and engenders a tempest of unfathomable proportions should cooler heads not prevail. The polarization of the body politic represents an abject, critical failure of the Organization to fulfill its initiatives, and warrants our withdrawal from its flawed apparatuses lest we to become infected by its failure."

"We must shed the anchor from around our necks if we mean to prosper," she added.

Azura's growing neutrality movement has largely rendered its participation in the Organization of Pardesi Affairs moot, thanks in no small measure to revolutionary trade agreements that are being finalized with various states in Pardes, including Alleghania, Anikatia, and Ulthrannia. Azura's handling of the Belhavian-Rodarion Crisis exemplified the Evenguard's growing political clout in regional politics, and the advancement of Emmerian-Azur cooperation through the Emmerian-Azur Commission for Disease Prevention and Public Health and ASTRA's participation in the Freedom Star VII project with the STAR space agency has greatly improved Azura's relations with its northerly neighbor. The Evenguard also recently celebrated the thirtieth anniversary of its landmark trade pact with New Belhavia, one of the longest-such agreements in Azur politics in the last century.

"The Evenguard is entering a very critical period in its history," historian Dr. Michael C. Bancroft said in an exclusive interview with the Gazette via telephone on Monday afternoon. Bancroft, a senior fellow at the Institute for Political Discourse in Cheltenham, has been at the forefront of the movement to codify the new political doctrines of the Praetor and her government. "Azur political capital is at an all time high, at a point where she needs it the most. The tense diplomatic standoff over Karlikovaya with the High Kingdom of Estovnia necessitated a fundamental restructuring of the Azuran position in regional affairs. Through expanded trade and its fortified positions in the Karlikovaya, Kalenia and now Valinor, Azura's armed neutrality creates force projection that facilitates reputable status."

When questioned about the Organization of Pardesi Affairs and its hesitancy to address the Azuran delegation's concerns, Bancroft was direct in his postulations. "Azura has the opportunity to set a very important precedent for other Pardesian nations, one that Alleghania has started to chart in the east. The Praetor's diplomatic efforts in recent days have greatly increased the country's prestige in the region, and it frankly needs to shed its extant commitments to their most basic levels if it means to establish its own diplomatic hegemony in the region-at-large. It could not do this with the lingering inability of the Organization of Pardesi Affairs to effectively police its internal policies. The Praetor knows, just as most commentators know, that there is more value for Azura to independently create ties with Alleghania, Belfras, Emmeria, and Ulthrannia than there is to remain a pawn in an intellectually bankrupt construct."

There is no word yet on a formal timetable to fully retract the Azur presence in the Organization's official roster, though the withdrawal is not expected to hinder the Evenguard's continuing diplomatic efforts. In addition to the trade negotiations with Alleghania, Anikatia and Ulthrannia, the ongoing establish of a formal peace and renewed diplomatic relations with the Kingdom of Belfras will continue to make big headlines in the coming weeks. Azura's next scheduled meeting to determine its future relations with the Romulă Cooperation Organisation is on May 7th, shortly before an expected announcement on ASTRA's planned contributions with Emmeria's STAR agency.

Franklin, South Lake, WESTERN CONFEDERAL STATES — The market suggests another bearish signal, analysts and traders are worried of liquidation in several registered FSE markets as well as components registered on the Old Lake Stock Exchange due to the negative news report of this months change in non-farm payrolls--and consumer spending, which saw indices such as the SUP500 plummet, while the Western Dollar Index and the Lewis Yorkshire Industrial Average skyrocketed this month’s session.

The Lewis Yorkshire Industrial Average was capped at an all-time high of 27,562.55 points on January 27th, 2013. One year later the main index on the FSE has decreased to about 26.940.22 pts by January 27th 2014. Now, 2 months later the index turns back up again with today’s session closing at 29,250.00, and analysts claim it should not take long until it crosses the 30,000 mark. Mainly because of new initiatives in Karlsberg Industries, ANKITEC and Triumvirate Enterprises.

The oil demand is rising daily due to the suggestion of a Tarsan military offensive in the Near East and the subsequent response of Western Vice President Clarke; "If in fact Tarsan leaders are willing to invade a sovereign country without a proper casus belli, I'm afraid they are risking a war they cannot win." This supposed derogatory response of the Vice President, pundits report; "confirms that the two countries are not on good terms and reflects on the financial markets." Petroleum corporations such as TexUs and Star have also reached a low and are heavily anticipating on the volatility of the oil price.

A certain compromise is met due a Belfrasian-Estovakivan trade influx. The Belfrasian government purchased approximately 5% of Irkana, Estovakiva’s largest oil producer. The oil price consolidated at a high of $155 last month and managed to move back to $151 per barrel, long term FSE sharks remain on the sidelines.

CEO of Star Leroy Constantine announced earlier today that Star is going to negotiate with Petrolcom to decide whether or not the two companies are going to merge, Sales last quarter for Petrolcom were below average and its negative revenue of 451.235 billion urges short-term investment, analysts suggest that today’s announcement is therefore right on cue.

Confederal Reserve Board member Goldman said the ConFed will continue to taper off its quantitative easing policy with 20 billion. The Board says it will remain tied to its stimulus programme for the upcoming months.

Adrianople, FCP, Pardes (PNN) — It is now the third day in the Adrianople Protest, and riot police have failed to end the demonstrations that have caused the shutdown of the Argent Stock Exchange and Carpathian International. The protest swelled to several thousand by the end of the first day, a demonstration that was aimed at the government over its 'lack to defend itself amid sanctions'. Protesters quickly quartered off entry points to the Argent Stock Exchange and the Carpathian International Bank, effectively shutting them down.

Numerous attempts were held by the city's riot police after demonstrators proved defiant in leaving the grounds which quickly resulted in several clashes between crowds and police through out the first night injuring 12. By the second day, police and demonstrators clashed early in the morning which then saw 30 arrests and for a short period of time a retake of the Stock Exchange. However, protesters were able to quickly push police back again ending the clashes for the day as barricades were erected on the police side.

Despite the peacefulness that came after the last clashes in the evening, thousands more have flocked to the demonstrations, arming themselves with rocks, wood, and whatever can be found, they[demonstrators] began to prepare themselves for another clash which happened early this morning; Governor Rico Pelenez declared Martial Law which prompted a larger deployment of riot police and two armoured personnel carriers. By Wednesday morning, demonstrators were greeted with a shield wall of riot police, tear gas, and both ''bean-bag'' and ''rubber'' bullets fired from shotguns, Riot police were also seen hooking hoses up to fire hydrants to be used to spray down protesters. The clashes occurred near 4th and Marlo Avenue at around 10am and continued til about midday.

Another push by riot police later in the afternoon saw the bloodiest of the clashes in the past three days where protesters were engaged from all sides of the four blocks they have occupied, APCs were deployed to police barricades and firetrucks deployed from the city's fire department were used to spray down protesters with water cannons as riot police moved in with tear gas and batons. Two protesters were killed and dragged away into the crowds causing anger among the demonstrators who began to toss rocks at police, another police officer was tackled by a band of men and dragged away despite rescue efforts by other officers, the man [officer] was beaten to death by angry protesters.

Despite the last efforts by riot police to scatter protesters, they have failed to regain any ground and have again retreated to their barricades while demonstrators chant and swear at them. Fifty-two demonstrators and four officers were injured during the clashes Wednesday afternoon with one officer critically wounded and in intensive care. The protests erupted quickly Monday as a result of sanctions pressed onto the FCP by the OPA in result to an incident last year over two Rodarian oil tankers being attacked. The sanctions which were mostly ignored by both the FCP and the PRR began to cripple both markets this year, especially after a blockade was issued against Rodarion forbidding Pravene shipping from entering the country. Since the sanctions, markets have dropped significantly with gas prices in the FCP having skyrocketed by early this week after Pravene Oil, the biggest oil company in the FCP saw a loss of several hundred million during, what many believe is the beginning of a catastrophic crash.

Further anger was held and directed at the Pravene government when a statement was released by the Parliament that the FCP would finally cease all trade with Pardesian members and obey the sanctions - the move sparked massive outrage with the public, many who believe the CDI is to blame while others have blamed OPA directly for ''turning their backs on the people that matter''. One woman, Alexandra Peletto, who was interviewed by PNN early today told our reporters that, ''The OPA were the ones to blame, they [OPA] turned their backs on us, put the people in the back of their minds and we will be the ones to suffer''.

The situation stemming in Pardes from the 'Rodarion Crisis' has indeed sparked an economic one in the FCP, Stores actually resorted to closing their doors in protest denying customers food and other supplies for everyday life, this quickly spread to other businesses and the city's commercial centers have grinded to a halt. Pravene Oil saw a 2,800 point drop by Tuesday afternoon, and by Wednesday this morning, Graden Pharmaceuticals completely crashed seeing most of its share-holders sell, this caused a significant drop in the market which caused another loss for Pravene Oil estimating in almost 600 million dollars, Sel Corp one of the top financial firms lost an astonishing 783 million dollars in shares and stocks, losing most of its share-holders as well. The crisis hasn't stopped their however, earlier this evening, the MoE stated it would need to shutdown national parks and museums and suspend payroll for non-essential personnel such as subsidized third party security companies which has sparked outrage in Saxonople, the country's capital.

''It is with our regret, that we must suspend non-essential workers and programs, along with subsidized installments from the government until further notice. We urge the public to stock on what necessities you can as our nation works through this time, we as a nation have seen greater threats and we shall prevail past this economic crisis'' MoE spokesman Davis Leveno said at a press conference. Across the country, Branched banks from Carpathian International have begun to shut their doors as people have begun to panic and make what economists call ''Runs'' on the banks. With banks now closing and massive drops in the market, the FCPs markets have begun to drop significantly, some speculate it'll be a matter of time before it hits regions where the FCPs economic ties reach.

CARRIER 'SUSTAINED HEAVY DAMAGE' IN RODARIAN ATTACK

Government announces emergency measures

Image
Unconfirmed photo of the APNS Furious after sustaining missile hit

28/04/2014
Mathilda Ochibwe, Defence Correspondent

The Ministry of Defence announced earlier today that, following an aerial skirmish over the Orlessian Sea, an Arthuristan naval task force came under 'serious missile attack' by Rodarian forces. Reportedly, the light carrier APNS Furious has sustained 'heavy damage'.

'Serious Missile Attack'

MINDEF has yet to confirm the train of events which led to the attack, nor has it disclosed the precise status of the carrier or the casualty figures. The state of the rest of the force is also as yet unknown. Our sources, however, stated that the ship may have been rendered 'unsalvageable', and that at least 50% of the ship's 1,920-strong complement may have been lost.

Maritime Protocol 161

In light of the incident in the Orlessian Sea, as well as recent declarations by the Tarsan government that they may attempt to wage a campaign of naval blockade against Arthurista in the event of a full-scale CDI-Rodarion war, the Prime Minister announced in Parliament today that in accordance with Wartime Powers Act 1946, Maritime Protocol 161 is now in effect. Essentially, all Arthuristan merchant traffic, whether private or government-owned, shall now be compelled to sail as part of convoys, screened by elements of the People's Navy or allied naval forces. Reportedly, the government may also arrange for merchantmen flying the flags of friendly neutral nations such as the Eagleland to supply Arthurista with essential strategic materiel.

"For all intents and purposes at war"

The cabinet office has remained remarkably tightlipped over the details of recent events, or the projected course of developments in the near future. However, according to Labour MP Francis Crick, a member of parliament's National Defence Committee, "Things have escalated as far as they possibly could. We are, for all intents and purposes, at war with Rodarion and any of the Pardesi powers which have chosen to ally themselves with Romula. Time to check your inbox for the mobilisation notice."

Labour Party centenary

Our analyst gives his verdict on the nation’s most successful political party

Image

Alistair Mynock, political correspondent

10/05/14

Today marks the 100th anniversary of the foundation of the Arthuristan Labour Party, truly the single most successful political group in the nation’s history. Three out of four parliaments ever elected in the past 50 years have featured a more or less a Labour working majority, at times in coalition with smaller allies, but mostly alone. Its biggest rival, the Liberal Party, constitutes the plucky “loyal opposition”, but has had far less success in muscling its way to the pinnacle of power. Labour governments have presided over the greatest triumphs and direst disasters of the country’s relatively short history, At a time when another crisis of apocalyptic proportions is looming over the horizon, perhaps the centenary is a good opportunity for us to take a closer look at how well they’ve done, especially in recent years.

”Party of democratic socialism”?

Oft forgotted today is that in the first article of the party’s charter, drafted and signed by the founding members themselves in 1914, is the following phrase:

“Labour shall be Arthurista’s party of democratic socialism, committed to advancing the interests of the working classes .”

Just how far the party has shifted over the decades is fairly obvious when one takes a cursory look at the latest Labour government. The party has been continuously in power since 1998. On 2nd September of that year, Prime Minister Bernard Wong of the Liberals was run down by a speeding motorcyclist not far from Parliament Square. The Liberal-Green coalition collapsed overnight and fresh elections were called, resulting in victory for 36 year old Peter Maynard, leader of the Labour Party, whose constituency was southeast Greenwich. He held the office for ten years, resigning for health reasons in 2008, to be succeeded by Indira Todd, who was in turn replaced in April 2013 by Leanne Whittaker at the outbreak of the Civil War. Maynard began the trend of youthful, dynamic prime ministers in recent years – Todd was 33 when she assumed office, and Whittaker a mere 27, though the extraordinary circumstances which applied at her succession made her age a somewhat less extraordinary factor at the time.

Arthurista in the late-90s was just entering a period of relatively high economic growth, following a mild recession in the early- to mid-90s. Wong’s Liberal government, true to its platforms, facilitated the process by instituting a widespread deregulation of the financial sector and securities market of an unprecedented scale. However, he was also not averse to applying more interventionary policies where it is deemed necessary. Most significant were the series of Naval Acts of the 1990s, which saw a dramatic expansion of the People’s Navy, as well as the creation of tens of thousands of new jobs in the shipbuilding and associated sectors. He also carried on the export-led growth strategy of the Labour Governments in the 1970s. Industries which were regarded as possessing considerable potential for acquiring a competitive edge in the world market, mainly the high tech/ value added manufacturing industries (automobiles, arms, consumer electronics etc.) continued to receive substantial government aid and subsidies.

The Labour ministries that followed did not deviate at all from the established course. The naval expansion continued apace. The export-led growth policy, in fact, was expanded to cover a wide variety of new sectors, deemed to be of strategic importance. Chief among those were companies which engaged in mining precious minerals in Arthurista’s interior wilderness, such as Titanium and the so-called ‘rare-earth elements’, for example, Cerium, Europium, Yttrium and Samarium, vital for the production of electronics. Nor did they reverse the liberalisation of the financial market. If anything, they made the government one of its largest players. Arthurista’s Sovereign Wealth Fund has, by 2014, accrued close to $600 billion worth of assets. Some of the best hedge fund managers who once worked for private institutions now use their considerable talents to the betterment of the public sector.

There is, however, one capability that a Labour government possessed, which is not available to their Liberal counterparts – a traditionally cordial working relationship with the trade unions. The government’s considerable clout with both employers and employees allowed them to act as impartial mediators in labour disputes, getting both sides to work together. This is likely to remain a significant factor ensuring continued sustained economic growth in the long-term future.

Pragmatic centrism

Has Labour lived up to the expectations of its founders a century ago? The answer is, likely, a resounding ‘no’, not in the slightest. There is, in fact, little in real policy terms which separates it from the Liberals. If one wishes for marginally more welfare, one votes Labour. Conversely, one votes Liberal to get a slightly more pro-market government. Both offer very similar brands of pragmatic centrism, bringing together diverse array of interests at odds with each other.

It is, in fact, a cardinal feature of Arthuristan politics to focus on practical solutions, tackling problems one at a time and to come to compromises which fully satisfy nobody at the end of the day, avoiding what many characterise as vacuous ideological grand-standing common in other polities. It is often unglamorous, grey and, at times, very, very dull. It does, however, allow the economy to run reasonably efficiently, keep sovereign debts at reasonably low levels and keep almost everyone reasonably happy. It is the worst political setup in the world, but for all of its alternatives. The country can do far worse than what it has today.

Imperial Legion Tests New Ballistic Missile

The Imperial Legion has announced the test of a new ballistic missile with a striking range of over 12,000 kilometers. The test was successfully carried out at 0947 this morning on the Atlos Testing Range in southern Tarsas. Only two warheads were tested, a thermobaric and a conventional explosive warhead. It has been confirmed that the Legion possesses nuclear and chemical warheads that can be rapidly equipped to the missile. A modular warhead unit for the missile allows the payload to be rapidly swapped within a few minutes. Dubbed the ICBM-14M, it is rumored that serial production has been approved.

The Strategic Phalanx, a branch within the Imperial Legion, has always been historically well equipped as a deterrent to Ulthrannia. To this day, it is credited that the large nuclear deterrent Tarsas possesses has kept Ulthrannia at bay since the advent of such weapons. With regional war eminent, construction and development of a stronger nuclear deterrent has been prioritized.

Tarsas has been actively developing and constructing its nuclear deterrent since it detonated its first atomic weapon in 1952. Despite the Organization of Pardesi Affairs, which Tarsas is an active participant, banning the use of chemical and biological agents, it has made no attempt to restrict nuclear weapons. It is believed this is one of the main reasons most Tarsans consider the OPA effectively useless.

The ICBM-14M marks the latest advances in guidance system development. It is capable of inertial guidance, the use of satellite global positioning, and has an option to switch to infrared attack pattern should it be jammed and be in capable range. The two stage propulsion system possesses maneuvering jets, making the missile capable of limited evasive maneuvers.

A mobile platform based off of a modified version of the Pantra Heavy Truck, which has been utilized for the entire series of mobile ICBM erector launchers produced since the 80s, continues to be the platform of choice. The mobile launcher is an all terrain vehicle that has the capability to transverse bridges from various nations, weighing in at around 48 tons. A 2300 horsepower diesel engine will be the primary propulsion offered.

Image

Photo of the launch

It is confirmed that the Pantra Heavy Vehicle Plant in Cintigaria has already tooled up a portion of its production lines to manufacture ten launch platforms a month. No word has been received on the exact number that will be operated but our sources within the Budget Committee Office have said funding will be approved for no more than 70 mobile missiles and 130 silo based missiles, though it was clarified that the final number ordered has not been disclosed.

The most potent warhead that the missile can carry, the AT93 Thermonuclear Warhead, has enough yield to destroy the largest city even if only one warhead gets through. With missile defense systems at the cutting edge of technology, it is likely that very few missiles would get through to their final destinations. When asked on the viability of such a hit and miss strategy by the Senate Budget Committee, a spokesperson for the military had this to say. "It's not about the ninety percent of the missiles launched that get intercepted. That ten percent that manage to get through still spell the end of an enemy."

"The majority of the warheads ordered and the only ones that will be equipped to the mobile platforms are conventional and thermobaric. We would never be the first to utilize nuclear weapons", stated an article on defensetech.tar, the primary reporting median through which information on newly developed weapons gets out. "Nuclear weapons are solely for a deterrent", it went on to say.

The timing of this announcement is hard pressed to seem like a coincidence. Professor Contantinus Venta Secro, head of International Relations Studies at Altergyth College in Delphius, was contacted for his professional opinion on the timing of this announcement. "It is obvious to anyone that the announcement of this test was timed when tensions were the highest. Whether or not this will push us further into this war remains to be seen."

Election Watchers: Lib Dems To Pickup Seats, Tories To Hold Senate Majority in 2014 Midterms

Far-right neo-ACAers facing electoral collapse, polls suggest
May 21st, 2014 | By Elazar Cohen (ecohen@aij.org) (AIJ) | 10:23am EDT

PROVISA, NEW BELHAVIA — Nine provinces held their party primaries yesterday, and it appeared to be a smooth primary day as none of the races so far has shown to be surprising. Every incumbent - Conservative, Liberal Democrat, or Libertarian - won their primary yesterday evening, disappointing a diverse set of outside interest groups who spent a collective $14.3 million dollars to oust incumbents in both major parties, albeit for differing political, policy, and ideological goals.

In Asland, Zalos Edges Liberal Challenger To Face Stiff Tory General Election Competition'

The closest race yesterday was vulnerable Liberal Democratic Senator Xavier Zalos (LD-Asland), a Lib Dem rightist who was one of a handful of pro-A.C.A. voices in the major center-left-oriented opposition party. Zalos narrowly retained his party's nomination in a nail-biting 50.7%-49.3% margin against liberal primary challenger George Kaplan, an investment banker, who had poured in $5.6 million of his own funds into his campaign.

He positioned himself to the left of Zalos on national security issues, a popular stance in the liberal-leaning Asland province. Despite early public polling showing Zalos lagging behind Kaplan, a late-surge in TV and radio advertising, a deft Get-Out-The-Vote (GOTV) operation, and encouraging right-wing activist Tory voters to crossover and turnout for him (Asland has an open primary system where any registered voter can pick to vote in any party's primary) proved to be a surprisingly-strong bulwark for Zalos to narrowly win.

Zalos faces moderate, libertarian-leaning Conservative Joshua Gold, mayor of Asland's largest, liberal-leaning city of Bukenia. A recent Hansden House poll has Zalos behind by three points to Gold, 42% - 39%. Like Kaplan, Gold has emphasized "restraint abroad" in foreign policy in a new cable TV ad he launched last week.

ACA's Stalwart Wins Close Contest, Setting Up Marquee Race Against Favored Lib Dem Opponent

In Raffen province, embattled far-right figure, right-wing bomb-thrower, and gaffe-prone Senator James Gulden won a closer-than-expected race, illustrating the tough shift in winds against his campaign's sails. He beat Lieutenant Governor Adam Shultz in the Conservative party primary by a 52%-to-47% margin.

Gulden's real challenge, however, lies in the general election where his Lib Dem rightist opponent, Karen Merkel, has led in the polls since last summer by margins as low as four points and as high as twelve points.

The other seven Senate primary outcomes proven uneventful.

Election Forecasters Change Race Ratings As Primary Winners Gear Up For General Election

As early as last December, several political prognosticators predicted that the far-right was increasingly in danger of electoral extinction in the upcoming midterms. With fresh post-primary polls and the primary election results themselves, several watched election predictors changed their outlook on key battleground races in the fall.

Nathan Filner, the statistician at the Provisa Herald watched by the Provisa establishment, changed Westland and Vannen to 'Lean Lib Dem' and Asland as 'Lean Tory'. He predicts that 4 Conservative seats held by vulnerable neo-ACA hardliners (Westland, Vannen, Raffen, and Janskor) will flip to the Lib Dems, while the open seat in Freeport is a 'lean Conservative' because of Tory candidate Jacen Gray's narrow but consistent lead in the polls since the fall. He put Asland from 'Safe Lib Dem' (if Kaplan had beaten Zalos to become the Lib Dem Senate nominee) to 'Pure Tossup', citing polls showing the unpopular Zalos neck-and-neck with Tory challenger Josh Gold. If Gold wins, the libertarian wing of the Conservative Senate caucus will gain another member.

In December, Filner had three seats as Tossups (Raffen, Freeport, and Asland), one as Lean Lib Dem (Janskor), and two as Lean Conservative (Westland, Vannen). The remaining 17 seats are rated as Likely or Safe Lib Dem or Conservative.

Other Tory Seats Possibly In Play

The potential damage to the Tories isn't limited to their disliked far-right fringe: Up to three other races throughout Belhavia are 'Likely Tory' but show signs of being competitive by the fall.

The increasingly urban, liberal electorate in West Dakos has put incumbent Tory Senator Brendan Caseman from 'Safe Tory' to 'Likely Tory'. A recent poll out showed him leading neurosurgeon and Lib Dem nominee Richard Weiss by only 12-points after winning a fourth term in 2010 with nearly 60% of the vote.

Popular conservative Lib Dem Governor Frank Logasky is within striking distance of moderate Tory Senator Norm Feinstein in the otherwise rural, Tory stronghold province of Rustonia according to two released polls this week. Feinstein and Logasky have already aired dueling TV ads hitting each other's integrity. Filner downgraded Feinstein's seat from 'Likely Tory' to 'Lean Tory' - a grim prediction with months to go until Election Day in November.

The open seat from retiring Conservative incumbent Eli Reudenburg in the Tory-leaning province of Norvenia has attracted top-tier Lib Dem and Libertarian candidates, forcing the race into which every candidate can win the highest plurality in a competitive three-way race.

Car bombs explode
in Adrianople

Amid violence
493 killed
Adrianople, FCP, Pardes (PNN) — Several weeks have passed since the first signs of protests in the city of Adrianople - and the situation has taken a turn for the worst. Riot police in the city of nearly fourteen million people, have been unable to stop the violence and at a Press Conference this morning, President Anina has declared a State of Emergency in four provinces. The protest which were sparked as a result of the economic crisis in the country, quickly grew violent when police were called in to attempt to disperse crowds who were blocking off business, including those of the Carpathian International Bank and the Argent Stock Exchange.

Despite attempts, police were met with mass use of force by demonstrators that ended in bloodshed and has continued to end in casualties over the last few weeks. With the failure to engage and disperse rioters, demonstrations have begun to spread nation wide, seeing similar violence that officials have seen in Adrianople hit the streets of Saxonople, the nation's capital, Garsa, Florence, Villa D'Aura and several smaller cities. To add to the civil unrest, late last night a series of car bombs exploded in Adrianople, rocking the city, police and demonstrators have confirmed that in total 493 people have been confirmed killed by the blasts and the series of gun battles between Rioters and Authorities.

On the ground, the situation is extremely chaotic, police and demonstrators alike have resorted to setting up triage centers as hospitals are running over-capacity or have completely shut-down amid the crisis. This morning, amid the State of Emergency declaration by Anina's cabinet and Parliament, State Guard were deployed to several cities across the country, permitted if necessary to use lethal force. ''It is with our deepest regret, that we must declare an official State of Emergency amid this crisis, with the recent news of car bombs being used against police and civilians alike, it has become clear that we are now losing control of the situation and must deploy the military.'' Anina said during this morning's press conference after Parliament convened in an emergency meeting.

While authorities are unsure of who is responsible for the bombings, they have confirmed that civilians were able to raid several armouries having captured two police stations, and have resorted to using weapons against police, ''We're no longer looking at a protest, we're looking at a full scale uprising, and we can only hope we can regain control of the situation and detain those responsible for this morning's attacks'' Anina addressed a room full of reporters.

Amid the blasts of Thursday morning, several dozen were injured and are being treated at make-shift triage centers, the situation however looks grim. Especially after State Guard and rioters clashed in the city just hours after injuring and killing many more. Reports have come in that more State Guard are heading to cities affected, videos loaded on Youtube have seen helicopters and convoys of trucks and APCs moving from near-by bases.

The Economic Ministry has also confirmed that the Pravene Stock Market has now officially crashed, watching several major industries drop thousands of points, a gross lost some say is netting almost 38 billion dollars across industry wide corporations, fueling the violence now as banks across the country have closed their doors. Large companies such as Pravene Oil have now grind to a halt, thousands of employees were told to not return to work. Other companies such as Gamma, a major pharmaceutical industry in the country announced that amid the crash of their stocks they are now filing for bankruptcy. The Royal Trading Company also announced that, they are now being forced to suspend all trade after the company's stocks fell amid growing business abroad and the economic turmoil the FCP is experiencing, their branch company known as Trinity Mining is also filing bankruptcy.

SUSSEX, MERITOCRATIC UNION - The Tippercommon Central Securities Market (TCSM) collapsed yesterday after great speculation caused a 3,155.5 point drop over a period of three days, with the Bureau of the Treasury seizing the trading floor this morning. At 2PM yesterday, after an emergency meeting of the Meritocratic Securities Commission, the Senate Chamber authorized an injection of $350 billion into the TCSM. This attempt, however, failed to stimulate the market, with TCSM closing at 220.35 points last night. Several dozen smaller companies listed on the TCSM announced that they would be declaring bankruptcy as a result of loss on the market, while even the massive Sussex Group felt the hit.

It is likely that this crash originated due to a gradual decline in the market over the last decade, the closing of several Sussex Group companies in the last quarter, the impending conflict up north, and the advance of armed revolutionaries in the east of the nation. On April 29th, Lodestone Energy Solutions, the second largest corporation within Tippercommon’s borders in terms of employee count, closed its doors, leaving 75,000 out of work. The Les Cristaux Banking Bureau started making cut-backs in its spending starting at the beginning of Q1, resulting in over 20,000 being laid off, while an additional 100,000 took a 30% pay cut. All together, the unemployment percentage of the Meritocratic Union rose from 5.4% at the end of 2012 to a whopping 11.2%, the largest since the Crash of 1910. As the Sussex Group began cutting funding to its subsidiaries across the board, and with the Meritocracy terminating its agricultural subsidy program in order to reduce the deficit, the cost of milk rose on average $8 a gallon, with the closing of Lodestone causing a leap in the cost of gasoline from an average of $3.45 a gallon to $7.83 a gallon.

The combination of a huge spike in unemployment, an astronomical rise in the cost of living, and the likelihood of a full-scale war in the coming months, unrest in Central Tippercommon has reached an all-time high, with only 15% of the population approving of the performance of the Senate Chamber ac-cording to recent MP poll. Support for the Hyperion Revolt in Central Tippercommon is on the brink of civil war. The most recent reports from combat zones in the Hyperion province and the Joint Administrated Territories show an increase in combat casualties over the past 6 month, bringing the total to 15,670 wounded and 1,250 dead Tippercommoners. It is expected that this conflict will bring another round of cuts to Tippercommon’s Education, Science, Welfare, and Health Care departments as the deficit grows and the necessity of military funding increases. The further escalation of conflict along the Rodar-Itailian border will likely proliferate this trend, with the likelihood of the Tippercommon military being enthralled in armed conflict on the side of the CDI is great.

As a result of all of this, mass demonstrations have rang out around the nation, with the State Department citing a considerable rise in traffic to websites sympathetic to the Free Hyperion Movement and other social networking websites. Many have taken to the streets, forcing a shut down of many public services and private businesses, in effect causing even greater unemployment and a degradation of the standard of living for those living in Sussex. Some inner city residents have reported gunshots throughout the night, with Sussex MPD dealing with the threat of armed demonstrators roaming the streets. As a result of the actions which have transpired over the past month, the State Department has issued a declaration requesting that all extranationals within Tippercommon on visa leave the country immediately.

Image
SUSSEX, MERITOCRATIC UNION - Military forces of the Hyperion Rebellion Movement crossed the Redford River late last night, striking the three major port cities in Northern Tippercommon: Sussex, Maddex, and Lathrop. Several brigades of antiquated mechanized infantry and air assault forces crossed 500 kilometers of countryside via the abandoned interstate highway system leading to Hyperion overnight. They deployed soldiers on the outskirts of the Sussex Metropolitan Area, bombarded Lathrop with self-propelled artillery, and seized the major port of Maddex, effectively cutting off the Sussex Bay from the Central Ocean by 8:00 AM this morning. Early reports from the Sussex Municipal Police Department state that the rebels have set up several self-propelled artillery pieces; likely captured from Coalition Forces during the conflict in Hyperion. The bombardment of the surrounding area has shut down the city's public transportation system, and mobile surface to air missile sites threaten Sussex International Airport. Several Meritocracy Press (MP) and local news outlets have lost news helicopters to ground fire, and the outlying residential neighborhoods have been subject to patrol by the rebel forces. SMPD and Redford National Guard forces have responded in full, thus far being able to keep Hyperion troops from entering the inner city. However, Lathrop and Maddex, which have no military presence other than support from a single helicopter assault ship which was passing through to the Sussex Bay have been attacked in full force. While not large cities in their own right, their ports provide a massive advantage to Hyperion troops, allowing for the propagation of a blockade across the Strait of Maddex, keeping MU naval forces out of the capital bay. Reports from Sweetwater City in the Hyperion Province suggest an increase in pressure around the inner city from the ghettos. Could this be the Hyperion Movement's last push to end the civil war which has been waged in the desolate territory for almost three decades? And how could the relatively primitive forces of this militia strike the capital of Tippercommon in secrecy? Colonel Charles Free of the Redford National Guard tells Journal reporters that it was a "lack of vision."

"Hyperion has always been isolated from Tippercommon proper." Free says shortly after the Hyperion attack. "The Redford River itself is a 110 meters of toxic, irradiated barrier between a bombed out wasteland and the rest of the nation. Typically, the violence was always on the coastal region, so the border wasn't very well protected as, say, the border between us the JAT. The attack on Milton earlier this year showed that this preconception was wrong. However, when they withdrew last week, the Board of Defense probably thought they had given up and would return to Sweetwater City or hop the border in the JAT. The Tippercommon countryside is so expansive, the troop movements on the 24th and 25th went unnoticed. Their helicopters flew low, dodging the radars at Sussex International."

This invasion has come only ten days after the Meritocracy's economy in effect collapsed. Now, Tippercommon is in a state of emergency, with its economy non-existent, its political system at threat of seizure by Hyperion forces, and military forces occupied with this newly founded civil war. The unrest which plagued the region as a result of the economic downfall might make allies of Hyperion out of begrudged demonstrators who themselves have already fired on national guard battalions. Even with Estovakivan aid, which will likely be compromised due to hostile forces in the area, the people are not satisfied with Boyd's administration, calling for her early removal of office in favor of Chief Minister-elect Nina Kennedy. During a public press conference from the State Capitol Building in her home province of Evergreen, her announced her change in stance towards the funding of the military, but gave good reason.

"During my campaign, I supported a downsizing of military forces. Due to a change in circumstances, when I take office, I foresee that I will not be able to stay true to my word. I will, however, fight to the best of my ability any new foreign military obligations, and support the defense of my homeland to the best of my ability with all resources which are presented to me when I am sworn in as the Chief Minister."

The invasion has also posed questions on how northern Tippercommoners will survive. Hyperion has always been the primary oil supplier of the Meritocracy. This supply will likely not be affected by the war, as a large garrison of Tippercommon Marines has been stationed in the oil fields since the Hyperion Civil War began in the 1980's. However, the Hyperion expeditionary forces have cut off all routes from northern Tippercommon into Hyperion, although those leading into the JAT and southern Tippercommon have been left untouched as MU forces secure the major interstates. The Board of Defense announced today during a press conference in the basement of the Senate Chamber building that it would be ordering the deployment of all available active duty units within the nation, call on naval forces from the Oakford Naval Base in the Oakford island chain in the Central Ocean, and will be activating all reserve military units in northern Tippercommon to combat the threat.

During the press conference, Defense Minister Jack Evans said, "In response to the advances by the Free Hyperion Movement, the Board of Defense has decided to call on the entirety of the 10th Fleet stationed at Oakford Naval Base. The I Marine Expeditionary Corps will also be called on, and will be deployed via amphibious assault craft directly in the ports of Maddex and Lathrop, and will retake the besieged cities. All reserve Marine Brigades and National Guard units at our disposal will be called to fight in Sussex. Our naval air forces will route out the artillery and SCUD missile sites in the residential districts of Sussex, and will secure its air space to ensure the safety of our commercial aircraft."

At noon today, the State Department issued a declaration to all foreigners within the Sussex, Redford, and Kimberely provinces to evacuate immediately to either southern Tippercommon or back to their home countries. The Department of the Interior has declared a state of emergency, ordering all Tippercommon civilians in the defined "conflict zones" to remain in their homes, and those in the inner city evacuate. Based on early reports by the Sussex Fire Service, some 156 civilians and 20 police officers have been killed, with another 550 civilians being hospitalized since this morning.

Federal Ministry of Defense vows for operations against Hyperion Province Militants.

Tippercommon possibly on the brink of civil war, Havenwalde pledges support.
Karl Herrmann
Political analyst writer for Havenwalde Federal News Service

SWEETWATER, Tippercommon Admist the recent instability within the Meritocratic Union of Tippercommon it has been confirmed through a statement by the Federal Ministry of Defense that "The Havenwalder Chiefs of Staff are currently in the process of drawing up plans for future COIN operations for the Hyperion Province of the Meritocratic Union". Eight months have passed since the first Havenwalder troops had arrived in Hyperion Province, a military fortification named 'FOB KAISER' had been constructed near the disputed city of Sweetwater. Currently, four thousand troops have been inhabiting Fort Kaiser and have been committed to assisting Tippercommon Army units with COIN operations. Now with instability in the Meritocratic Union, Hyperion militant support for their rebellion is rising in popularity.

It has been reported that the situation in the Hyperion Province has grown drastically worse. Colonel Werner Freers who currently commands the Havenwalder forces in the Hyperion province released a statement on their current situation, he had this to say;

"Tensions are at a all time high in our FOB, we've recently been attacked with mortars in the last week and have been involved in multiple firefights with the militants. Our allies, the Meritocratic Union have suffered many casualties at the hand of the militants and we're fearing it'll only get worse from here."

The four thousand troops currently deployed within the Hyperion Province are a Mechanized brigade part of the 10th Armored Division. Future deployments of Havenwalder troops to the province may include additional manpower from the 10th Armored Division and other Divisions. Operating off the coast of Sweetwater, the 2nd Corvette Squadron part of the 1st Flotilla of the Havenwalder Navy have proved to be highly valuable in the pacification of militants within the city. In one firefight between Militants and Havenwalder soldiers, a Frigate's naval gun was within range of militant firing positions during the firefight. The frigate was able to provide fire support and destroyed a fortified position being used by the Militants during the battle.

The Federal Ministry of Defense plans on the deployment of additional elements from the 10th Armored Division scheduled for as early as mid June. More updates will be posted as we receive them.

Valtos, Valinor — Chancellor Ioannidis held a early morning press conference where among minor announcements of minor official appointments, he also revealed that the Royal Treasury had concluded a massive trade deal with the Ulthrannic Empire, which pundits value around fifty four billion universal standard dollars, or Image60,000,000,000.

The trade deal was possibly the most extensive undertaken by the Treasury, summarized on a two hundred and eleven page brief that was available to members of the press at the briefing and copies are also being held at the Royal Archives in Kavala. The deal was ambigious, but it did confirm that Valinor would direct at least fifty tons or a equal measurement of burabel mead, fegosian wine, zygna reeds and other Valinese exclusive fauna and flora, while the Treasury also agreed to drop tariff's and fee's on import and export with Ulthrannia from the standard 28% to a new 10%. Ulthrannia also agreed to redirect numerous companies of it's own that were in the heavy industries or manufacturing sectors, which is again apart of the Treasury's plan to revitalize those two sectors which were heavy hit by the Third Valinese-Orlessian War which saw most industry heavy cities heavily damaged. Due to this damage, not only was the nation's greatest recession triggered, it's economy failed to modernize with the upsweep in state of art technology in computers, smartphones and other numerous fields. Rumored trade deals have been in the works with Rome, Belhavia, Emmeria and Belfras, but this is the first such deal to be confirmed.

1,500 Legionaries Deployed To Combat Unrest

Civitas Tarsae, Tarsas - Legionary Command, at the command of Emperor Romulus X, has deployed 1,500 forces to the nation of Pravengria in an attempt to aid the Pravene government's effort to regain control. Pravene President Anin has declared a state of emergency across the country in the midst of the event. The convoy of forces were loaded onto a container ship and departed early this morning under the escort of two frigate class vessels.

When asked to comment on the deployment, Legionary Command had this to say. "Pravengria is apart of the RCO just like we are. Thousands of people may die if a civil war does break out. We must do our part to aid our ally in their time of need."The deployment includes some ten APCs and five IFVs to support the forces as well as a number of Pantra Light Utility Platforms.

The Sea Legion has announced that the escorting vessels will carry standard peacetime armament. "We are not interested in provoking anyone to war. We will be reaching Pravengria where we will aid government forces in a peaceful resolution to the conflict." The itinerary published called for one stopover in Estovakiva where the ships will be refueled and sent on to Pravengria.

Four-hundred and ninety three people have already been confirmed killed in Pravengria. Another purpose of the mission will be humanitarian aid. Additional shipments of strictly humanitarian supplies have been approved by the Crisis Response Front, a Tarsan organization dedicated to dealing with national and international humanitarian crises.

The forces have been placed under WESTCOM, or Western Legionary Command, the Tarsan theater command center for Western Pardes which is based in Rodarion. Direct operational command has been handed to Generalus Vero Calrus Garelia. We will keep you updated as the situation develops.

Ekaterina Popescu: God bless Hyperion

Image

Mayor of Voluntari, Ekaterina Popescu has applauded the actions of the MU's Hyperion province

8th May, 2014| 14.00 PM PCT | înregistrate| By: Nicolae Eliade

Ekaterina Popescu is renowned for vocal assaults upon various states, institutions and even people, but today she came out warning the people of the Meritocratic Union the risks of their nation becoming a CDI puppet as they rush to help annihilate the Hyperion uprising. She also made clear the comparisons between Hyperion and Drakkar, stating "the smug complacency of the CDI is clear, is they go against their own values of self determination and freedom, by assisting or directly taking part in the destruction of popular uprisings in the name of secession for liberty under God." The Foreign Ministry has warned all Rodarian nationals currently in the Meritocratic Union over their safety, urging them to return home as swiftly as possible.

Speaking to reporters today, after she led the passing of a controversial bill through the Voluntari Municipal Assembly, which has allocated some 1,800 square km of farmland for the construction of a satellite town. She said "what we are seeing in the MU, is the same as Drakkar, a complete crackdown and merciless campaign of destruction against a large number of people who wish to live in freedom, free from the MU's central government through obvious crimes against the Hyperion region, when will this hypocrisy end?"

According to some regional bodies, hundreds of people have been killed in Tippercommon which is now suffering a complete economic collapse. Several key figures within the National Congress have openly stated the economic collapse of the MU is result of the CDI's irresponsible blockade of Pravengrian oil from other Pardesi states and the resulting economic shockwaves. Several areas liberated in Drakkar have seen solidarity marches with the Hyperion people. In Rodarion, opinions have been limited due to almost none-existant information or historical sources on the Hyperion uprising, many have asked who are they? Why are they fighting? Is the cause noble or malicious? But Ekaterina Popescu has also slammed such factors in this new crisis to beset Pardes.

"No one knows anything about Hyperion, no one knows anything about why they're fighting really. That is the point I fear, the Meritocratic Union and its masters in Provisa have been swift to cover up the truth, may it be possible, that such information was kept from the world because Hyperion's cause maybe a noble and great one? That maybe, the government of the MU and its Belhavian masters are yet again pawns in the CDI's effort to oppress and destroy peoples that would stand outside their plans and schemes for regional domination?"

Ekaterina Popescu also offered a stark warning to the people of the MU, caught in the middle of this crisis. "I ask you dear, dear people, do you feel safe? If you do, you shall be proved wrong, if you do not, you must use that realist mind and escape, because within days or weeks, your homes, your businesses and your cities will be rendered to ruin by bombs and missiles sent by the CDI, they will lay waste to you and Hyperion, they will surge into the MU, disregarding your sovereignty, disregard your right to self determination, without permission or any thought to the diplomatic concequence. And once the people of Hyperion have been subjugated by the CDI, they will ensure that the MU becomes a lackey. Stand up people of the MU, defend your nations independence from the impending CDI annexation."

The State President is also expected to denounce any CDI intervention later tomorrow. Ekaterina Popescu is also cited as a possible leader of the National Catholic Party, when the Ecclesiastical Security Commission is reformed to incorporate an elected executive once again.

FCP, Pardes (PNN)''We have seen our great nation fall to desperation as the CDI and OPA have looked on, turning their backs on us. Ignoring us, and it is through them that we must announce that the Government is filing for bankruptcy, we have lost complete control over the situation in Adrianople, our markets have collapsed, and all blood spilt rests on the OPA.'' An hour ago, President Isulia Anina and the rest of Parliament converged for an emergency meeting before announcing that Saxonople has now defaulted and filed for bankruptcy.

Members of Parliament commented on Anina's address which aired on National TV, agreeing with her statement, in holding both the CDI and OPA to blame for the nation's unrest, Anina continued on her address, ''To the leaders of both the Central Defense Initiative and the Organisation for Pardesi Affairs, You have crippled this country, you have utilized a personal agenda over the Rodarian Crisis to bully the FCP, and your actions have cost Pravene lives. This blood is on your hands. Lawful organisations do not promote or allow bloodshed, the OPA will be personally held responsible for this, and I've no doubt this organisation shall pay for its infractions'' Anina said. Foreign Affairs Minister, Victor Perez said he plans on appealing to the RCO for assistance, despite renewed gun-fighting earlier this morning, Anina's words held an impact on the public, especially those considered militants who've successfully pushed the military and State Guard out of Adrianople.

His Majesty, Dmitri Alestei announced that he was ''deeply ashamed'' in both the Pravene public, and ''saddened'' by the failures of the OPA and CDI. The biggest shocker however came not long after Anina's speech when HM, Alestei addressed the nation as well, announcing that on Friday, the 6th, he would abdicate his throne if the violence would not cease, as Parliament agreed to hold a ''re-assessment'' over Government function. ''I led this country from a Civil War and a great upheaval'' Alestei said, ''Tens of thousands died in the conflict that saw Sviyana [The then Capital] incinerated in nuclear ash - I ask the public to lay down their arms, we seek to not incriminate you for your anger, but instead focus that anger at the CDI and the OPA. The PDF and State Guard will no longer fire on civilians, and I will no longer be on the throne this sixth, if bloodshed continues on your fellow countrymen, I will not lead this country out of another civil war'' Alestei announced.

Hours after His Majesty's address, militants watched as PDF units began to withdrawl from Adrianople, packing up equipment and loading trucks. Parliament is meant to convene this Wednesday and Friday to re-assess the functions of Government, during State of Emergencies, Parliament has the power to dissolve or alter functions of the Government.

RAGE AGAINST THE (FLYING) MACHINE

Air power professor vents fury at MINDEF fighters procurement program

Image

UNADS Warrior in Arthuristan colours

Mathilda Ochibwe, Saturday Defence Column
31/05/2014

No sooner had the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) released its white paper on changes in the fighters procurement regime did the internet explode into fierce debate regarding its merits. So far, it has been roughly split into three camps, fiercely denouncing each other with increasing vitriol. The first simply states that “stealth is overrated”, and that APAF and the Fleet Air Arm ought to buy a large fleet of relatively cheap Tempests instead. The second argues that Arthuristan Dynamics’ own range of specialist, 5th generation long range heavy fighters and strike aircrafts are eminently necessary rather than a luxury.

Both agree, however, that the Ministry of Defence’s position offers the worst of both worlds – to ‘indefinitely freeze’ all current domestic 5th-gen programs and simply procure the Emmerian UNADS Warrior (known in its country-of-origin as the “F-29 Warrior”) as a replacement for the entirety of Arthurista’s tac-air fleet. Currently, it is operated by roughly twelve squadrons of the APAF and eight of the Fleet Air Arm.

”Thoroughly criminal”

Those incandescent with rage over the decision are not restricted to obscure aviation geeks who haunt the forums. Noted ‘air combat expert’ and editor of the blog ‘Arthuristan Air Power’ (“APA”), Dr Charles Copper, has decided to weigh in on the issue.

“This is a most absurd decision, ridiculous, in fact thoroughly criminal,” he said in a recent interview with the Kingston Guardian, “MINDEF is playing with fire and leaving us with capability gaps so wide that a carrier can sail through them.”

“Take for instance our [Spitfire. It is, first and foremost, conceived as a naval air superiority fighter. It is heavier and larger than most contemporaries of its kind, save the Rodarion VR Seraphim, and possesses far more range, especially when carrying conformal drop tanks. By contrast, most other 5th generation air superiority fighters appear to be little more than point defence interceptors. The total number of Spitfires produced to this date, land-based or naval, are scarcely sufficient to equip three squadrons for each service.”

“An even more dire loss is the Hailstorm. For the APAF, it represented theatre-wide strike and interdiction capability, while for the Fleet Air Arm it was primarily intended for the carriage of heavy cruise missiles which outrange the coverage of the AEW aircrafts of hostile carrier battle groups, taking thorough advantage of the long flight deck and powerful EMALS catapults of the newest fleet carriers.”

“By way of contrast with the two aforementioned models, the Warrior is a master of none, even if advertised as a jack of all trades. It has a combat radius by internal fuel of about 1,000km. Nor is it as fast as either of Spitfire or the Hailstorm. The only thing really to be said for it is that it carries a reasonably heavy payload. Its avionics is top notch, though neither of its rivals in our service possess inferior systems. In terms of sheer performance, it cannot match more specialist models and by itself it cannot replace the role of either.”

”No alternative to the Warrior”

The Ministry of Defence, naturally, took umbrage at Dr Copper’s assessment. “There is no alternative to the Warrior,” we were told by a press officer from the Fleet Air Arm, “at least, in terms of a 5th generation aircraft which is cost-effective enough for us to procure in sufficient numbers to make an impact. It is certainly one of the most popular contemporary fighters in the world. Having a tac-air fleet based predominantly on the model is to significantly reduce our logistical and maintenance burden, allowing us to field more aircrafts at significantly reduced burden. Specialist aircrafts are, of course, in absolute terms better in their narrow fields. Their margin of superiority, however, is not so high that it justifies the significant increase in cost such a force would entail. The Warrior is reasonably good at both [functions], and far more capable than any legacy aircraft at performing any of those tasks. It is the key to allow APAF and the Fleet Air Arm to remain competitive in the 21st century.”

“As to the weaknesses mentioned by Dr Copper, the most important is that of combat radius. Here, Arthuristan Dynamics’ innovative use of ‘conformal drop tanks’ concept has been adopted even in its country of origin. They are carried on the aircraft’s wingroot hardpoints and fit snugly in conformity with the aircraft’s hull shaping. Together with their RCS-reduction coating, they are instrumental in increasing the effective combat radius of Warriors. Naturally, they are far more expensive to manufacture than ordinary drop tanks. Where we decide that range is a critical factor for a given mission, however, their use may be invaluable.”

“Nor do we accept that it the Warrior is significantly inferior in air-to-air combat compared to more specialist designs, even in close quarters. With helmet mounted sights and off-boresight missiles, the importance of air combat manoeuvring is far less important than it used to be. It is also worth remembering that the Warrior-A and –C models are themselves supermaneouvrable aircrafts. There are, in summation, very few things that the Spitfire can do which the Warrior cannot. Any measure of superiority the former holds over the latter is very marginal at best.”

“If anything, in our opinion our greatest issue so far is to negotiate an official position for Arthurista as a joint partner in the Warrior program. This is something we’d continue to explore with our overseas counterparts and hopefully will lead to a fruitful outcome.”

”Punch someone”

Dr Copper, naturally, refused to see any merit in the navy’s response. “Where we have to fight peer opponents, every scrap of advantage counts. With the Warrior, among the great powers we will be known for having an average air force rather than an exceptional one.”

When asked by the interviewer to verify MINDEF’s assertions about the Warrior’s competence in close combat, Dr Copper replied as follows – “if I have to explain the Warrior’s dogfighting capabilities in accordance with the Boyd EM theory again, I’m liable to punch someone. I rather hope it isn’t going to be you.”

Government to go bankrupt
by June 6th
CoG, Pardes (PNN) — In a shocking turn, His Majesty converged with Parliament over the ''re-assessment'' of Government functions, in an almost completely unanimous vote set forth by His Majesty, King Dmitri Alestei abdicated the throne amid reforms of the Government. ''Parliament and I agree, that we need a new system, my time as King among this great nation has come to an end, a vote I pushed into Parliament was passed today, announcing the end of the Federated Commonwealth of Pravengria, and the founding of the Geannese Federation and Commonwealth. In this vote, the Crown shall be officially resolved as a Presidency shall take executive power. It's been an honour to serve the people.'' Alestei said during a Press Conference at the Imperial Palace amid flashes by cameras.

During the economic crisis, yesterday Parliament announced it had to default on a 143 million dollar deficit it'd accumulated in short of a week once exports had been completely cut off. Amid another release by Parliament, it became clear that the nation was facing total bankruptcy by June 6th, Minister of Economics, Harrison Angels told GNN, ''If we can not find a solution to this economic crisis by the sixth, we will see all Government programs grind to a halt. We'll have run out of money'' Despite the darkness looming over Saxonople, after the announcement yesterday that defense forces would be withdrawn from Adrianople, militants began to hand over their arms to State Guard early this morning.

''It is with our gratitude that the violence that has engulfed Adrianople and so many other cities has finally come to an end'' State Guard spokesman, George O'Neil stated. Keeping on their promises, Parliament has ordered for State Guard to not pursue arrests for those who'd engaged with authorities over the past few weeks, the biggest concern for Saxonople now rest on rebuilding, and moving past the turbulence that was thrown onto the country. President Anina has accepted the nominations by Parliament and Former King Alestei to act as a President Tempore until elections can be held at a future date.

In another startling move, Parliament announced that the Rionese Islands it held as a territory in Greater Deinstad has been granted independence, leaving Triela in Sondria the last remaining territory of the Pravene now Geannese Commonwealth. ''It appears that the Pravene network of trade has collapsed, and with her, a maritime power unrivaled in Pardes'' Angels stated, though other Minister do not hold the same cynicism, Minister of Defense Ricardo Hernandez believes that there is now a ''clean slate'' and a ''chance to rebuild the country stronger''.

27 killed in Police raid

Image

Amature footage shows Armed Police storming the building

8th June, 2014| 14.00 PM PCT | înregistrate| By: Draza Dragescu

At least 27 people are reported to have died in an explosive shootout between armed Videle Police officers and armed gunmen of the fearsome 'Ertescu Club' crime syndicate. The Videle Police have been conducting successful raids against the syndicate, following extensive evidence indicating their operations and dealings following the anti-corruption campaign this year. The former Deputy Mayor of Videle, Romulus Dovici was arrested two months ago and his personal affairs revealed extensive links between him and the head of the Ertescu Club, Radu-Octavian Ertescu, these breakthroughs allowed police to coordinate an extensive campaign against the Club, which culminated in today's raid.

Speaking to reporters, Videle Police Commander, Ion Razea explained, "today's raid was aimed at catching all senior members of the Ertescu Club, we gathered enough evidence and intelligence to determine that their meeting would take place today at this hotel owned by Mr. Ertescu, in downtown Videle. Police at 12.03pm stormed the Grand Riverside Hotel at four points and began evacuating staff and visitors from the ground floor and basement, at 12.07pm, armed gunmen of the Ertescu Club opened fire on police from the stairwell overlooking the lobby, we then proceeded to clear out the Hotel of hostile criminals and arrest the targets.

We can confirm that 19 of those confirmed deceased were armed thugs of the Club, three Police officers have sadly died as a result of their wounds, four staff members were killed in the crossfire and one hotel customer was shot dead by the Club as they used the young woman as a humanshield. We can also confirm that Radu-Octavian Ertescu the 'mob boss', Vladimir Ertescu and Evren Graza have been arrested and will face public trial in a week, 11 other key Club members were also arrested."

Ambulances and further armed police arrived at the Grand Riverside Hotel moments after the shooting started. Videle Police showed surprise at the Club's response to the raid, with many stating that the Police had no idea the Club had access to high powered assault rifles and military grade handguns. The Videle Police has announced it will investigate its intelligence short comings over the next few months. 12 other people suffered injuries but none are confirmed as a critical, the Mayor of Videle, Flaviu Kadaru praised the police's actions and commended them for their swift action to save as many innocent people as possible.

Today's raid represents the bloodiest clash between the state's police force and the country's organised crime groups. The Ertescu Club is among eight major crime syndicates recognised as being apart of the growing 'Rodarian Mafia', these groups mostly emerging from Rodarion's shadow economy and chronic corruption, however the anti-corruption campaign launched by the Ecclesiastical Security Commission in December saw the Rodarian Mafia be mapped successfully, with over 30 operations being launched by Police across the Papal Republic aimed at crushing these groups. Foreign human rights groups have criticised the government's response to the syndicates, with hundreds of Mafia members being arrested and sentenced to death for 'collective criminal responsibility'. However the Ministry of Justice has rejected this criticisms as 'verbal cowardice by overt liberal groups'.

Radu-Octavian Ertescu, 73 is to be charged with over 40 murders, money laundering, raketeering, human trafficking, prostituting women, distributing pornographic materials and drug dealing, he is to face the death penalty if found guilty. His son Vladimir Ertescu is to be charged with 13 murders, six attempted murders, 38 assault cases and operating a shadow abortion clinic, he too will face the death penalty. Other members arrested face lesser charges but will face life imprisonment in Repentance Camps for their crimes against the Church State. The Ertescu Club has suffered a defeat today and its survival is highly doubtful as Videle Police plan final mop up operations against the lower ranks.

A public memorial will be held for the three Police officers killed in the shooting; George Hasdeu, 33; Traian Marescu, 29; Julian Babaru, 41 and the four staff members, tomorrow at Videle's Saint Viktor Park.

Ambrosia, ALLEGHANIA - Today, 24 August 2014, in the hallowed halls of the Peace Pallace in Ambrosia, the largest city in Alleghania, at 1:13PM, representatives from the State of Hyperion, the Meritocratic Union of Tippercommon, and the United Confederacy of Alleghania signed an armistice declaring an end to hostilities in Tippercommon, the dissolution of the Meritocratic Union, and the recognition of Hyperion as a semi-autonomous state. This treaty is the result of almost three weeks of arbitration between Chief Minister Nina Kennedy, the Tippercommon State Department, and the leadership of the Free Hyperion Movement, mediated by an Alleghanian diplomats. Officially ending the 93 day conflict, it too sees the end to the 58 year old Meritocratic Union, to be replaced by the Unified Tippercommon Republics. This regime change was first proposed by Dean Halstead, leader of the Free Hyperion Movement, and was seen as a step forward for Nina Kennedy and her administration. This move on her part has been well received amongst her constituents in the Unity Party, moving further to the left from the Meritocracy's stratocratic past. Senators and Assemblymen of the Parliamentarian and Libertarian Parties also seem to be happy with this resolution, both ending the war and placing a representative from each in the Executive Branch.

The Treaty of Ambrosia completely dismantled the Executive Branch of the Meritocratic Union, creating the Grand Council of the Unified Tippercommon Republics to replace the offices of Chief Minister and Vice Minister, leaving the Senate Chamber, the National Assembly, and the Grand Judiciary intact. This Grand Council consists of five Councilors, each bearing as much weight on executive decisions as the others. The Councilors will represent the Hyperion Commercial Zone, the Evergreen Republic, the Sussex Republic, the Ayton Commonwealth, and the nation as a whole. The Councilors hailing from specific regions will be elected by popular vote in their respective regions, with the first elections taking place on December 5th. The Councilor representing the UTR, with the title of High Councilor, will be elected by popular vote nationwide. This office will be granted to Nina Kennedy until her position as Chief Minister of the Meritocratic Union would have ran out in 2018. Early polling indicates that Rachel Boyd will likely be elected as the Councilor of the Sussex Republic, while Dean Halstead's place as the Councilor of the Hyperion Commercial Zone is undoubtedly assured. This is a considerable change, with Hyperion and the Joint Administrated Territories previously not receiving any representation at all, both in the Executive and the Legislative. Now, Nina Kennedy has announced that as soon as she returns to Sussex, she will immediately enact an Executive Order granting Hyperion and the provinces within Ayton the right to representation in the National Assembly, and to grant the JAT provinces the right to self-govern within the constraints of federal law just as the mainland provinces.

This treaty also spelled the death of the Sussex Group Conglomerate. While Nina Kennedy's administration had pledged before the war to break up the Sussex Group's monopoly in certain key industries, such as finance, the new ordinance has completely wiped it out. Specifically spelled out in the treaty under Clause 6, the Unified Tippercommon Republics is legally obligated to prohibit the Sussex Group from engaging in the petroleum industry in Hyperion. This condition effectively eliminates 90% of the Sussex Group's profitable subsidiaries, with the rest tanking after the financial crisis of late 2013 and early 2014. Already most of the Sussex Group's assets within Tippercommon have been seized by the Treasury Department, and subsidiary oil wells in Hyperion have been seized by forward elements of the Meritocratic Marine Corps. This frees up the Hyperion oil industry, which will likely either by nationalized by the new Hyperion Trade Union or be taken over by at least a dozen smaller energy companies. This also terminates the capping of drilling in Hyperion the Sussex Group imposed to keep oil prices up, peaking at about $160 per barrel at the beginning of the conflict.

The Treaty was confirmed by the Senate Chamber three days ago during its first session since the conflict began on 25 May. This was also the first time enough Senators had been present in the capital to reach quorum as combat in Sussex ceased and the Hyperion forces released twelve Senators and three Assemblymen last week. Today, President of the Senate Chamber William McNamara proposed the Barbara Winters Act, named after a Senator who was killed on 3 June during the fighting. Bypassing the committees using emergency powers, when put to a vote, it passed 64-45 and is expected to do so in similar fashion in the National Assembly as well next week. The Barbara Winters Act is an omnibus concerning foreign and interior affairs and economic recovery. The most prominent issues addressed are a policy of neutrality, changes in the focus of military spending, and steps towards economic recovery. With oil production back on track in Hyperion, its capacity for production is expected to skyrocket, placing Tippercommon as one of the top members of the Organization of Pardesi Fossil Fuel Exporting Countries once more.

The act provides hundreds of thousands of new jobs, ranging from the construction of new military bases and the rebuilding of infrastructure to administrative jobs in newly created agencies, such as the Bureau of Agricultural Trade. It provides for an increased domestic military infrastructure, larger trooper numbers, and a bump in the air services' budget, while reducing its strike capabilities. It approves an incredible increase in the trade of foodstuffs with Alleghania - one of the cheapest agricultural providers in the region - to compensate for a loss in infrastructure and lack of government subsidies. This move will help to stabilize food prices and allow the government to provide free nourishment for families displaced by the fighting. In addition, it includes hundreds of statutes to prop up the mandates of the Treaty of Ambrosia, and sets one major precedent for all future foreign affairs procedures: legal neutrality. Under the act, the UTR will be legally neutral prohibited from deploying any military forces for any reason other than humanitarian aid and to protect Tippercommon maritime trade routes, and will be obligated to withdraw from the Organization of Pardesi Affairs effective 1 December should the bill pass the Assembly.

What does this spell for future diplomacy? I believe it will make Tippercommon more stable and dependable as an economic supplier, unswayed by the interests of foreign nations. With the projected outcomes of the fire Grand Council elections, it is likely the pro-RCO movement in Tippercommon will manifest itself in the Hyperion, Ayton, and Evergreen seats, blocking any attempts from Sussex or the High Councilor to lean more towards the CDI in its decisions, and vice versa. It will most likely keep Tippercommon out of the Rodar-Itailian conflict, any conflict brewing in the Middle East and Ashizwe, and from the tensions boiling between Ulthrannia and its long time competitor Arthurista. It will also open up trade to RCO nations. Prior, only CDI nations and the Roman Kingdom had been recipients of Tippercommon oil and military equipment. Now, the flood gates have opened, allowing Tippercommon to expand its share of the petroleum and mining market dramatically and to bring jobs back to the people in these tough times. Even so, it is safe to assume the state of Rodarion will be excluded from this freedom, the nation still shaken up by its open conflict with Itailia and its noted tyranny.

So there may be some silverlining to this conflict. But, some 15,473 Tippercommon citizens were killed, and another 163,888 wounded. Two great cities, Sussex and Sweetwater, were nearly decimated in the struggle. Over 38,540 Tippercommon soldiers were killed, plus several from Arthurista, New Belhavia, Havenwalde, and Orlessia. Whether they bore the seal of the Meritocratic Union, or the shield of Hyperion, they were Tippercommoners, and the price they paid to defend their perception of freedom is admirable, and will never be forgotten.

OPA fails to
lift sanctions by deadline
CoG, Pardes (PNN) — Militants have reportedly engaged defense forces north of Adrianople after Parliament announced that the government was officially bankrupt, sparking massive outrage by the public who had begun to comply with government demands to end the crisis. This comes after the deadline passed that Parliament hoped would've been enough of an incentive to have the OPA lift sanctions on the country.

Instead, the OPA has continued to ignore the situation it seems and as a result, Parliament announced on national television that the nation had finally gone bankrupt. Government functions have now begun to be suspended from welfare to social projects, emergency services are expected to start shutting down over the next few days and Parliament is looking at suspending almost 800,000 government workers, the deadline which was June 6th provided little help, and as a result, the nation has officially filed for a default on all payments.

By 5PM, hundreds of thousands of people were reported to have swarmed the streets in Adrianople and other cities including the capital, citizens in Saxonople are calling for blood on the OPA. Militants who'd previously agreed to a cease-fire began engagements on defense forces staged north of Adrianople. It was not long after that defense forces were ordered to carry-out airstrikes on key militant positions. ''With the bankruptcy and renewed warfare in the south, We've no choice but to engage the threat against us'' said President Tempore, Isulia Anina during a press release.

It appears that the country is entering a new stage in the tension, of which many believe is a civil war. K-15 'Hailstorm' aircraft could be seen coming from St. Argos AFB, just 30 kilometers west of Adrianople. ''Due to the inability of the OPA to withdraw the legislation, we are now officially withdrawing from the organization, any prior nor any further legislation will be abided by the Geannese government, nor will we feel obligated to comply with any legislation further.'' Anina stated.

Pope Pius: "We shall help Pravengria in anyway they see fit"

His Holiness made the declaration after a special session of the Sacred College

14th June, 2014| 16.12 PM PCT | înregistrate| By: Traian Basescu

His Holiness, Pope Pius III has offered Geanna unlimited support in face of growing prospects of civil war within the economically ruined nation. He called for a special session of the Sacred College of Cardinals and through the support of the Curia produced a memorandum on possible avenues to support the Geannese government, which has recently reformed from top to bottom withdrawing from the world of constitutional monarchies and becoming a republic. However this morning, the Geannese government declared itself bankrupt and announced major austerity measures that have provoked violence from left wing terrorist groups.

Violence has been reported north of the Geannese capital, Adrianople, after the government declared itself bankrupt, the left wing militants who stand to resist austerity measures it seems, broke a previously agreed ceasefire. The Geannese Commonwealth has suffered horiffically over the past few months after the mudererous regime in Ebonaevron enforced a blockade upon Rodarion, aimed at stopping all oil imports from Geanna. The Papal Republic through swift measure increased imports from Estovakiva and Rashidi and other oil producers to meet up needs, however Geanna's economy collapsed due to the sudden loss of all export links due to the abuse of the OPA by the Itailian regime. The OPA has been abused to the extent that it has ignored all Geannese calls for the resolution which allows for the blockade, to be lifted.

The Mother Church announced last week that it will donate close to $85 million to the Geannese government to pay redundant civil servants a sizeable lump sum to add them in unemployment. Seperately today, the Pope has led the government in officially offering the Geannese government any assistance it requires, he did not reject calls for putting boots on the ground to assist in defeat the left wing militants.

"The troubles in Geanna are deeply unsettling, we have seen Itailia and by extension the OPA destroy a nationstate, people's lives have been wiped out because of Itailian arrogance and OPA submission to CDI domination, they have blood on their hands. Yet this does not mean that nations should continue to stand by and do nothing, that is why I thank my most reverend brothers here today in supporting my efforts to produce a meaningful plan to assist the Geannese government in anyway they see fit" the Pope said.

"We cannot allow an innocent state, be trashed and torn apart because of the obnoxious arrogance of a murderous regime in Ebonaevron, we will aid Geanna in any way they wish and as much as our own limits dictate, if they wish to call upon us to assist in the defeat of left wing militant terrorists then we shall do so in ways that will benefit the Geannese government, I call upon my government to urge fellow RCO members to assist Geanna in ways they too see fit, we must make this a collective effort, we must take on Geanna's plight together and only then can we lift Geanna out of the depths of dispair, tragedy and out of the darkness of chaos" the Pope continued.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has informed the Rodarian ambassador in Adrianople to collect any and all requests from the Geannese government and pass them back to Romula. The Office of the State President has stated, "the Rodarian government will make concerted efforts to assist in the reconstruction of the Geannese government and we will look into the possibility of financial assistance and most importantly we will also address the possiblity of the Geannese government requesting military assistance against dangerous militant groups fighting against the Geannese government's attempt and repairing the financial damage caused by OPA and Itailian intransigence."

A leaked report from the Ministry of Commerce has indicated that the government may loan the Geannese government some $25 billion and to be repayed over a period of 30 years with low monthly interest rates to assist its financial recovery, however the Ministry declined to comment on 'rumours and speculations.' The Ministry of Defence and Homeland Security has been questioned over the possibility of Rodarian boots on Geannese ground, saying "the Papal Republic is currently addressing all options, should the Geannese government request military support, we have selected 3,200 soldiers of the Papal Defence Corps to assist in the Geannese defence against militants, the roles taken would be advisory and training of counter-terrorist units."

Speaking further Pope Pius III, said "let us pray for the Geannese people, let us pray for their strength and faith, let us pray to the lord, asking his grace to descend upon those poor people and aid them in their fight against destitution and militant terrorism, we pray for them and we pray that their plight comes to a swift end."
