Re-posting this on the Military Realism thread for good measure because the Aircraft thread isn't very active these days. Stats courtesy of New Vihenia's fighter range calculator (many thanks, this has been an invaluable asset), but still in need of review. The range strikes me as insanely high, but that's after I adjusted the stats to assume less time spent in combat (given that it's meant as a strike aircraft rather than a fighter). Allowing for more air combat, though, range still seems high...

Overview:
The Su-33JH (Jianhu, or "Heavy Sword") is an indigenous variant of the Su-33 carrier-based fighter, similar in role to the F/A-18E Hornet and similar in appearance to the Su-27KUB. It is employed as a strike aircraft with secondary dogfighting capability, offering greater range, payoad capacity, and payload variety than the Su-33 while maintaining some of the latter aircraft's maneuverability. These aircraft are expected to form the offensive component of the Imperial Soodean Navy's Aviation wings, offering the capability to strike targets over 1,500 kilometers away. As of now, two squadrons of these aircraft serve in the 1st and 2nd Carrier Air Wings.

Design:
The aircraft had its shaky origins in 2005, when the ISN abandoned its attempt to "navalize" the Su-34. Realizing that the Su-34 was too heavy for safe carrier takeoffs and landings, they drew up a requirement for a carrier-based strike aircraft to complement the air-superiority-oriented Su-33. The Jiannei design bureau quickly came forth with an interim "Su-33J," which offered compatibility with a greater variety of guided munitions, but ISN High Command determined that a full-fledged strike aircraft was necessary. The new project specifications required that the final design be able to carry an 8,000-kilogram payload a distance of at least 1,500 kilometers, and that it be compatible with the latest guided air-to-surface weapons in the Soodean arsenal while maintaining high parts similarity with the Su-33J. Rushed by the very short project deadline, the Jiannei bureau responded with a basic airframe based on the Su-27KUB: a twin cockpit with side-by-side seating. They also strengthened the airframe to accommodate the heavier weight on individual hardpoints, modestly enlarged the dorsal fuel tanks, replaced the nose radar with a unit optimized for surface search, and upgraded the engines to the more powerful AL-31F M1 used on the Su-34. When the prototype airframe emerged for testing in 2009, it managed to pass all expectations laid out by High Command, and despite a few remaining design problems it was hastily pressed into service.

Armament:
From the very start, the Su-33JH was designed with the goal of carrying the 3M54AE air-launched anti-shipping missile. When fully loaded, the aircraft can carry three of these, one between the engine nacelles and one under each wing. For land attack, it can carry up to five Kh-55-family cruise missiles, though three is a more typical load. When employing TV-guided bombs, it must be fitted with a guidance link and FLIR on one of the hardpoints, usually under one of the engine intakes.When smaller (250-kg) unguided bombs are carried, they may be packed onto racks to allow more per hardpoint. On all strike missions, the aircraft is fitted with two heat-seeking missiles (R-60 or R-73), and sometimes two additional radar-guided missiles (R-27 or R-77), for self-defense.

Strike and Combat Range:
The design requirements for the program were very ambitious in mandating that the aircraft be able to carry at least 8,000 kilograms of ordnance a distance of at least 1,500 kilometers. While the final design exceeded these figures, able to carry 9,000 kilograms a distance of 1,746 kilometers, this optimistic range can only be achieved under the best of conditions: high altitude throughout the mission, all ordnance dropped in the attack, and very little time spent in combat. When more fuel is allotted to air combat at a lower altitude, then even with a reduced payload the combat radius drops considerably to a lower, but still impressive, distance of 1,327 kilometers.

First, the Zeinbradians will use A-37 Dragonfly's, then they buy some FMA IA 58 Pucará's, which slowly replace the A-37's.

Of course, if that's a horrible mistake, I'll use the strikemasters...

I'd agree with Garshne, but it didn't happen to West Berlin, try as the Soviets did. Depends if the city-state's allies have the air power to run a supplies operation, and neither you nor them want to fight over them doing that.

Threaten them with annihilation and force them into a corner diplomatically. Then offer a goody-laden military-economic treaty that allies them with you and gives you preferential economic and cultural access.

You could always press for union with Oaledonia but that might be a slightly more difficult sell and result in a messy and intractable conflict on your doorstep.

Making it perfectly clear that any resistance would be hilariously one-sided might help your efforts as well.
