Well, It was a nice song I guess, and it was wonderful that she won but it wasn't my favorite. But I gotta say if Eurovision is always going to be political as fuck we can at least make a good political statement through it like we did this year. France really didn't deserve to come last though.

Yes, I prefer NS rather than Eurovision.

Angleter wrote:Oh, brilliant, it's Zhirinovsky! He's always fun, and the fact that his party is called the Liberal Democrats brings even more hilarity.

In the 90s he used to be an interesting politician, but that shine has worn off and he's annoying as fuck. He now regrets that the Red Army "liberated" Austria.
But still, the Russian performers did not deserve to get booed as much as they did. That went too far.
Costa Fierro wrote:I know. I was talking about it being broadcast in NZ. Apparently both semi finals and the grand finals were on UKTV.

Isn't that a pay tv channel? Better to watch it live and online.
Nazis in Space wrote:Well, the German jury really fucked over Austria and Russia.

Poland received the same treatment for the British and Irish juries. At least you guys gave them 10 points. Just think of all that money Polish immigrants spent, only to get 0 points out of it.

This is why Turkey didn't enter. They knew that it was going to be staged and unfair.
Nazis in Space wrote:Eh, not a particularly Russian reaction, tbh. The German media flipped its shit over the Lordi win way back when, too. Eurovision is kind of taken serious by middle aged conservatives. Why, I don't know.

I assume so. But the reaction in the same show (pryamoi efir) to Russia's qualification on Tuesday was also great. There was some black immigrant in the audience talking about how he has a qt Russian wife and how America will soon be under Russia's heel. Don't ask me how that relates to Eurovision.

I actually pretty much like Alsou and the Tolmachevy Sisters, they really don't deserved to be booed.

But when you send something with somewhat suggestive lyrics over Crimea and Eastern Ukraine, I think it's taking things a bit too far.

I just like the fact we have the beards in the first place, and the people who lack a moustache in last. Talk about the gradual decrease in facial hair!

Really? What did they say about Crimea/Ukraine?

"maybe there's a day you'll be mine", I assume?

I wouldn't read too much into it.

You can make up political messages behind all of the songs in the Eurovision.

Anyway 40 points to UK and only 2 to France :p

The Georgian entry from 2009 was far less subtle.

I thought it was a joke about how people from the far east look the same because of the "he's not Chinese he's South Korean ". But that doesn't seem very PC so I presume that it is something else.
