Wargaming.net Mega-thread, part 2 (WoT, WoWP, WoWS)

Postby Hurdegaryp » Wed May 07, 2014 3:09 pm

Greetings, fellow warmachine gladiators! The first installment of this thread reached 500 pages, so it's time for a new page to discuss our favorite Wargaming games. If the previous thread is an indicator, it is safe to assume that we shall mainly discuss World of Tanks here. This does not mean that World of Warplanes and World of Warships do not have a place here, though. There are battles to be fought, comrades. Forwards!

Also it would be nice if we kept things civil in here. There have been a few incidents in the previous thread, let's try not to have those in this place. Direct your aggression where it's supposed to go: at your opponents during online battles.

Not much news on that front. Maybe 2015 shall bring us massive sea battles, but no release dates have been given yet.

T29 is best Heavy Sniper Evah! Threaded the needle under an ELC the other day, only to have the round fly past the turret of a KV-2 and into the mountainside behind him on steppes to kill their M41 with an ammo rack... needless to say the 41 had not been spotted, but the RNG gods decided to pay me back finally for all the times they've made me their b*tch.

I'd say the only reason I still play is because I enjoy seal clubbing. It's a double edged sword if MM is that fucked to post you into a team of seal, but when you get lucky, you have fun.

Actually, the T29 i have found to be very difficult to play mostly due to MM's recent desire to be a massive asswipe and throw me into every tier 9 dominated game possible, so while indeed you may have done half the damage, given that the T29 is quite possibly one of the more mediocre tanks in recent days, it's not that impressive.

Does anyone else here play French tanks primarily?

I have 92-93 percent of my games in French vehicles, I'm pretty sure this is odd. I am sad that my favored faction will not get our second heavy line for the better part of a year at least, but at least SerB has said he will finally pay attention to the Republic.

AMX 40 is cutest tank by the way. Who cares if the Matilda is hopelessly superior in all aspects.

I know that feeling. Bringing justice to the vile enemy with my Chinese Chi-Ha can be very satisfying. It's a pretty decent sniper for its tier. The T-15 that I won a while ago during one of those montlhly missions is also quite pleasant to play. It's pretty much a faster Pz. 38(t) with a lower profile, just the right size for hurting slower and bigger things. Well, most slower and bigger things. You tend to encounter tier V tanks every once in a while with that vehicle, since it also serves as a scout in games with tier V vehicles as the top dogs.

quack quack.

The french lines are all fairly good, though the recent rebalancing of the Foch 155 somewhat killed my interest in the TDs. Also dem low tiers, dem horrible horrible low tiers. D:

The majority of my battles (34%) have been in German tanks.

I'll grant you an exception for playing in the Teuton's vehicles. Only this one time though! :p

Still, even with the TD problems, I do want to get the 155. I was really dismayed that all of my TDs in the French line got the massive increases to their weak spots on the top at the rangefinders and cupolas in recent patches. It was already easy enough for a good player to hit them, but I've had IS-6s land every shot into them despite me wiggling aggressively, and penetrate every one. I'm hoping that is just a failure of the AC 48, and I really want the Foch (120 version) to be good. I don't have high hopes, but then I'm a terrible TD player.

The Fochs are still good, they're just significantly worse in close-in knife fights due to the reduced engine power and overall armouring. This is unfortunate for the Foch 155, as its gun is very suited for that style of engagement, and from a long range fire support standpoint the Foch 155 is practically just a worse Waffletraktor so why bother. The changes really killed the niche role that the Foch 155 had going for it. It's still fairly competent, though.

Also yes, the range finders are now all very easy to abuse to negate the frontal armour of the Fochs.

the hotchkiss is fairly mediocre tbh.

the new Pz4s aren't really worth the time either, I wouldn't bother with them unless you want to get around the Pz. 38na grind (perfectly valid reason).

I have more than thousand battles in my BDR G1B and ARL 44. Still patiently waiting for the Char 2C to be introduced in the game.
