I could see Facebook being an NSA project more than CIA. Facebook is just a way to get people to make private information available to everyone.

They have hackers at the NSA, they didn't need Zuckerburg.

No national internet! One Internet for the world is needed so that we may one day have peace...or a better world at all.

Well, good point. I only use Google Plus, anyway. Heck, they'll just know I'm an apathetic libertarian socialist who's posting on NS.

No, it is not a CIA project. The Internet does many great things. Putin just doesn't like it because he has a hard time shutting down people who criticize him.

Then that means one in seven of the people on this forum are CIA agents.

i didn't know what to make of this story when it first broke. it's easy to call putin crazy, but when i put the last 15 years in context, i see it more as a typical overreaction from a government that's persuaded itself a worldwide conspiracy exists to undermine the russian federation.

there's a good reuters piece that explains what i mean. enough foreign policy screwups from two administrations in a row can make this kind of stuff seem reasonable
is it pronounced zay-vee-uh or zuh-vay-uh? i can't decide
