Yea, they're not the best places for objective information, not that this thread is about being objective.
I won't outright dismiss the story, I just need something to back it up so i can be sure this isn't to kick up a fuss.

There's a magical button labeled "clear history", or better yet magical little devices known as "smartphones". When the kids are often more tech savvy than the parents, it's little wonder how they're able to do something as easy as access a porn site and erase their history.Torisakia wrote:A better question is: Why are children's parents not monitoring what their child views on the Internet?
I don't blame the Tory gov't for pushing this, but they really have to find the actual reasoning behind this.

4chan is a site hosted in the US, serving primarily US users.
4chan is completely within the FBI's remit to target for child pornography offences.

This doesn't answer the question of, where is the parental supervision?
Can't take a lot of teaching to have a parent enforce a lock on their internet usage.

Alright, so it's just a law. I don't really care, it's just popular among some people and a huge business among the Japanese -- last time I checked.

It's just another part of Cameron's crusade against sex. It is removing your control over what you are allowed to say and expanding state control over information and entertainment, a highly dangerous step to be taking. There is no reason for him to be doing this other than to further cultural shame of sex.Old Tyrannia wrote:I'm struggling to see how this represents a threat to our civil liberties.

Being able to experiment and find your preferences in a safe and private manner when you first begin developing feelings of sexual attraction can be highly beneficial to you.Draica wrote:Why do children need porn?

A better question would be if parents should be hiding their children from sex in the first place. If they want to discover their sexuality, I say let them.

The point is that, in their quest to "protect the children", these politicians will be adding unnecessary inconvenience to adults. Actually it's more than that because they want you to input CC information as one of the barriers of entry to minors, raising the risk of theft of that information. The risks far outweigh the reward of keeping kids from seeing porn.

What reward? Forcing kids to have actual sex instead of imaginary sex in order to experiment with their sexuality?
Why does the government want children to have sex with eachother?
(Hopefully this will get asked at PMQ's, but i fucking doubt it.)
