Finally, she grasped it with both her hands, and positioned herself away from Richard, careful not to hit anyone with the sword or the magical discharges it could possibly generate.
"Do I need to utter a precise codeword for the runes to kick in and work, mister? Or can spells be casted without need for one?"
"It works either way. Spells with some sort of incantation are generally stronger and get a better reaction from the runes, but you can still use magic with the sword without a set of words. I suppose kids your age wouldn't really have much access to spell tutors, since most young people nowadays stay in school or work and don't have time to go wandering to find magic training," Richard replied, before looking a bit vexed with how old he was sounding now, "Then again, things are a lot different when there's wars raging around and all sorts of people and creatures stirring up trouble."

Constaniana wrote:Fortunately for Tristan, there were no more Crystal Demons to interrupt him as he went after the enemy, and he soon came upon a chamber filled with the sounds of battle. There were several more Watchtower members present than Aldraniri had first seen coming this direction, and they were engaged in fierce combat with Lisoette, who was far more competent in battle than her airheaded demeanour would suggest. Three Watchtower knights rushed towards her with claymores drawn, only to get slammed back by a multitude of crackling black swords the Daemoness summoned, which she followed with lightning bolts. The Watchtower members were in the process of retreating into a door like the one Tristan and his friends had come through.

I mean, only a few of them probably sold their souls to get those weird powers cause they got beat up as kids...not that I'm saying you guys sold your souls to get your powers. Eric picked a demon finger out of his beard and quickly followed the path Tristan had gone down.
"Hey, Tristan! Where the hell did you go!?"

I would have gone with him, but he said I should get this checked out by someone else," the redhead explained, glancing down at the blue bloodstain on his shirt, "Oh, and look what I can do now!" Aldraniri said eagerly, snapping his fingers and summoning fire in his hand.
"Cool, isn't it?" The lad asked, grinning.
