Zombiee League Week 7

Hauntspot 2-0 Skulltown
Both teams needed a win, with 8 and 9 points respectively. Hauntspot grabbed the win, putting them only.

Zombieeland 2-3 South Coffin
South Coffin really had to win, ten points behind the leader only six weeks into the season. Unfortunately, Ghoston got a win too.

Grave Diger 3-0 Ghoulville
Grave Diger was in a tie for last, but their win only proplelled them to tying for 12th. Ghoulville, on the other hand, was in fourth, but safely stayed in the fourth position.

Spine Tingler 3-2 Great Bone
Bone, eveb with the loss, is still in second, and Tingler’s win didn’t gain them any position.

Skeleton City 3-2 Manningtown
SC moved to fifth place, but right on the qualifying line, with their win, and Manningtown stayed in dead last with an 0-4-3 record.

North Coffin 3-4 Ghoston
Ghoston now has a two game, four point lead, over Great Bone… and North Coffin. In NC had won, they would be first with 16 points, Ghoston would have been second with 14, and the rest would be the same.

Biggest Home Win: Grave Diger 3-0 Ghoulville

Biggest Away Win: North Coffin 3-4 Ghoston

High Points: North Coffin 3-4 Ghoston

Best Attacking Team: Ghoston/North Coffin/Ghoulville/Hauntspot-15 points

NT United take a rather surprising victory, and the title of Champions goes to them. Clear victors, and 7 points clear of favourites RGS Athletic. At the other end, Seaton Athletic were relegated after a nightmare season, Royal Jam and Tuntingone along with them. A last gasp win for Lodgertia United was not enough to climb above local rivals Lodgertia City, who scraped a vital point just safe Yillog City.

Seniors FC were put down as favourites for the title, and they did not disappoint, scoring a total of 101 points from a possible 114, a pretty good season overall. RGS Athletic 'B' also gain promotion to the second flight along with VLC FC 'B' and Cillin Valley. The bottom four can rejoice for they do no get relegated in the current circumstances, but they could next season.

Hauntspot, with their win, are pushed to a qualifying position, and Ghoulville falls a point out of qualifying.

Zombieeland 0-2 Ghoston
Ghoston stays in first, and Zombieeland falls to last.

Grave Diger 3-0 North Coffin
GD continues its upward trend, and is now in ninth. NC is desperately trying to fix their ship, as they have fallen from third to sixth in two games.

Spine Tingler 1-2 Skeleton City
ST falls into eighth place. SC moves into second, leapfrogging Great Bone, and Ghoulville.

HYDRO SUPER LEAGUE - SEASON SEVEN (PART III OF IV)

Clausura Tournament

MD1:

Marinos 2-0 Eterna
Nord Energie 1-1 Olympique
Montreux 0-4 Alligators
Fontvielle 2-1 Caimanes
Nacional 2-0 Hamanos
Vaud 2-1 Pumas
Chiquito 2-1 Belfort
Slateport 1-0 Cerro
Pradera 0-2 Canalave
Tannenberg 2-1 Bezieres

The Clausura Tournament started with victories for most of the important teams. The last season champions Tannenberg defeated Bezieres, a direct rival in their fight for qualifying for UICA tournaments the next season. Nacional, in their first match as Apertura champions, defeated Hamanos AC. Montreux, the worst team in the Apertura, was thrashed at their own home, courtesy of Metropolis Alligators, and Slateport Bulls, Fontvielle Impact and Marinos got rid of Cerro, Caimanes and Eterna Stars respectively.

MD2:

Bezieres 2-0 Marinos
Eterna 3-0 Nord Energie
Olympique 2-1 Montreux
Alligators 1-1 Fontvielle
Caimanes 1-0 Nacional
Hamanos 3-0 Vaud
Pumas 1-3 Chiquito
Belfort 1-4 Slateport
Cerro 3-1 Pradera
Canalave 0-2 Tannenberg

Tannenberg FC, Slateport Bulls and...Chiquito FC command the Clausura with 6 points, after two matches. Metropolis Alligators and Fontvielle Impact ended 1-1 and Bezieres, Eterna Stars and Caimanes recovered from their defeats in the first matchday. Montreux, Pumas, Belfort and Pradera do not seem to show any reaction and are located at the bottom of the standings with 0 points. These four teams are also trying to avoid relegation at the end of the season.

MD3:

Marinos 2-0 Nord Energie
Montreux 0-1 Eterna
Fontvielle 1-0 Olympique
Nacional 1-1 Alligators
Caimanes 3-0 Vaud
Chiquito 1-0 Hamanos
Slateport 2-0 Pumas
Pradera 3-1 Belfort
Tannenberg 1-1 Cerro
Canalave 1-2 Bezieres

Chiquito and Slateport Bulls are leaders in this Clausura tournament, with 9 points each one. Tannenberg drew with Cerro at home, and Metropolis Alligators and Nacional divided honors. Eterna Stars defeated Montreux, the "Derby du Fontvielle" ended with victory for the Impact and Pradera buried Belfort in the last place of the Relegation standings.

MD4:

Nord Energie 1-2 Bezieres
Montreux 0-3 Marinos
Eterna 3-3 Fontvielle
Olympique 1-0 Nacional
Alligators 2-0 Vaud
Caimanes 1-0 Chiquito
Hamanos 1-1 Slateport
Pumas 0-0 Pradera
Belfort 1-2 Tannenberg
Cerro 1-2 Canalave

Slateport Bulls and Tannenberg FC are sharing the first place in the Clausura, with 10 points. Chiquito lost their unbeaten record in the derby against Caimanes, who with 9 points are dangerously close to the first place. National does not take off in the Clausura, and the other "Big" teams are trying to reach the first place.

MD5:

Montreux 2-1 Nord Energie
Fontvielle 1-0 Marinos
Eterna 1-2 Nacional
Vaud 1-1 Olympique
Alligators 3-1 Chiquito
Caimanes 2-0 Slateport
Pradera 1-0 Hamanos
Tannenberg 1-0 Pumas
Canalave 2-1 Belfort
Cerro 1-1 Bezieres

Tannenberg are now sole leaders of this Clausura with their victory over Pumas, added to Slateport's defeat in Campo Grande. Caimanes are now in second place with 12 points and four victories in a row. This was a terrible day for visiting teams, as only one of them managed to win: Nacional, who defeated Eterna Stars in Eterna City. Montreux defeated Nord Energie, thus getting their first victory in the Clausura, while Belfort is in last place in both the Clausura and the Relegation standings, with their fifth defeat in a row. This time, they lost in Canalave City.

MD6:

Bezieres 3-0 Montreux
Nord Energie 1-1 Fontvielle
Marinos 0-1 Nacional
Vaud 0-2 Eterna
Olympique 0-2 Chiquito
Slateport 1-3 Alligators
Caimanes 2-1 Pradera
Hamanos 1-4 Tannenberg
Pumas 2-2 Canalave
Cerro 2-1 Belfort

The "Citizens" are still leading the Clausura with 16 points, after a demolishing performance in Hamanos Town. Metropolis Alligators, who defeated Slateport Bulls, are in second place with 14 points, escorting one of their most hated rivals. Meanwhile, an interesting fight for the GC and AFI berths is being created between Fontvielle Impact, Slateport Bulls, SC Caimanes and Eterna Stars. With their sixth defeat in a row, RC Belfort are getting ready to return to the B-League.

MD7:

Fontvielle 3-1 Montreux
Nord Energie 0-1 Nacional
Vaud 1-1 Marinos
Chiquito 1-2 Eterna
Slateport 2-0 Olympique
Alligators 3-2 Pradera
Tannenberg 1-1 Caimanes
Hamanos 1-2 Canalave
Cerro 2-0 Pumas
Belfort 0-3 Bezieres

Metropolis Alligators and Tannenberg are now commanding the Clausura with 17 points thanks to the Alligators' victory over Pradera and Tannenberg's draw with Caimanes. Bezieres is escorting both teams with 16 points, after defeating Belfort and the Impact is fourth with 15 points. In the Overall Standings, it seems that Metropolis Alligators, Bezieres and Tannenberg are returning to UICA competitions the next season, and for the last berth to the Globe Cup and the AFI berth, Fontvielle Impact and Slateport Bulls are starting to mark differences respect to their persecutors Caimanes and Eterna Stars.

MD8:

Bezieres 1-1 Fontvielle
Nacional 3-0 Montreux
Vaud 1-0 Nord Energie
Marinos 2-0 Chiquito
Eterna 3-1 Slateport
Olympique 2-0 Pradera
Tannenberg 0-1 Alligators
Caimanes 2-2 Canalave
Hamanos 1-1 Cerro
Pumas 0-0 Belfort

In the most anticipated match of this edition of the Valladar Super League, Metropolis Alligators defeated Tannenberg FC, confirming themselves in the top of the standings, and sending their rivals to the third place. The "Derby du Foix" ended in a draw, and the Eterna Derby ended with victory for the Eterna Stars, who are now in the sixth place of the Overall Standings, sending their rivals to the seventh place, without AFI berth...for the moment...In (maybe) the most boring match in the whole season, Belfort got their first point in this Clausura. Unfortunately, that point is being pointless for them.

MD9:

Fontvielle 1-2 Nacional
Montreux 2-0 Vaud
Chiquito 0-1 Nord Energie
Slateport 0-2 Marinos
Pradera 1-1 Eterna
Tannenberg 2-2 Olympique
Alligators 3-1 Canalave
Cerro 0-1 Caimanes
Belfort 1-0 Hamanos
Pumas 2-4 Bezieres

The Alligators are still in the top of the standings in this Clausura. With 23 points, they are the only and last remaining undefeated team in this tournament. Bezieres and the Apertura champions Nacional escort the team from Metropolis. In a surprising result, Olympique de Fontvielle managed to get a point from Carloburgo, and Belfort managed to get out from the last place in this Clausura with their victory over Hamanos. The fight for Globe Cup-AFI berths is more heated than ever: five teams fighting for only two places for both tournaments (one berth for each one). Fontvielle Impact and Caimanes seem to have the first option, while Eterna Stars, Slateport Bulls and even, Marinos Metropolis are not giving themselves up.

MD10:

Bezieres 2-2 Nacional
Vaud 0-2 Fontvielle
Montreux 1-2 Chiquito
Nord Energie 1-3 Slateport
Marinos 1-0 Pradera
Eterna 1-1 Tannenberg
Olympique 1-0 Canalave
Cerro 0-0 Alligators
Caimanes 2-0 Belfort
Hamanos 0-3 Pumas

Metropolis Alligators are leading the Clausura Tournament with 24 points, after 10 matches. The "Alligators" have proven their skills once more, and with this first place, they are showing their position as one of the best teams in Valladares. Escorting the Alligators, we have AS Bezieres and SC Caimanes, both teams with 21 points. Bezieres are showing their progress in just two or three seasons, wanting to either return to a Globe Cup or even make their debut in the next TQCC, while Caimanes are fighting for a berth in the next Globe Cup with teams like Fontvielle Impact, Slateport Bulls, Eterna Stars and Marinos Metropolis. As for the teams in the "red zone", all of them need to get the the most points they can to avoid relegation. For example, RC Belfort, who are last in both standings (Clausura and Overall-Relegation) are the team with the biggest need. However, the game they have shown so far does not help them to avoid relegation for the moment. There are still 9 matches left and 27 points more, and all these teams (Vaud, Pradera, Pumas, Nord Energie, Hamanos, Montreux, Belfort) will need to get almost all these 27 points to continue in the top tier of valladar football.

Osarius King's League 2180-81 Preview

With all the transfers seemingly done and dusted - although we wouldn't count out a couple of last minute deals - and all the pre-season nonsense over... time to get serious. Time to start analysing teams and getting down to the bookies' to place long-odds bets before everyone else wises up... or something.

Anyway, enough talking. Here are the OSN reviews for next season, brought to you by our team of experts, with verdicts for the upcoming season by John Holcombe.

NOTE: Non-native players are classified in two ways in Osarius. Players from nations without seats on the Council of Rabastor are considered "Foreign". Those from within Rabastorian nations (Kryosis, Eristicea and Callistea) are considered "Non-Osarian". Players from Osarian dominions, such as Aquillian, are considered Osarian for this purpose.
Foreign players are marked with a * and Non-Osarians are italicized

AFC Hollybrent
Current OFA Rank: 9th
Last season: 9th
Manager: Andrew Houghton
Stadium: Applegrass Arena, Hollybrent (64,000)
Starting lineup: [4-4-2] Clarkson, Parrish, Walker, Hector, Nieves, Bello, Clarkin (c), Cotto, Dealy, Tinto, Sunderland
Key player(s): Darrell Nieves, replacement for Amir Ali, has been particularly good at left back lately, and Keon Tinto is always worth a punt to score. Ishmael Walker is a capable defender, but there are question marks over his age. Marco Cotto is our outside shot for a player of the season nomination.
Squad depth: Aside from women's international Marla Pennington on the bench, Hollybrent appear to lack any real squad depth. This might be the defining factor late in the season, and we fear it will be one obstacle too many for the Applegrass side to make a return to UICA competition through the league.
Summary: Houghton is a good, experienced manager, but has struggled recently with a weakened squad. The losses of Aguilar and Ali have hurt the team a lot, but the money from the Aguilar sale has financed the signings of Pennington and Walker, from Greeningham and Firewood respectively. With some younger talent emerging, combined with their veterans, Hollybrent could have a decent cup run and possibly earn a UICA berth. Expect them to try to bring more youth through later in the season, after they have secured a mid-table finish.
Holcombe says: Honestly I can't see them improving on last year. Unless young Edward Dealy has a phenomenal rookie year on the left, there's no-one to make the most of Nieves' attacking runs.

Blacktube Village F.C.
Current OFA Rank: 10th
Last season: 14th
Manager: Peter Darko
Stadium: The Tube, Blacktube (12,000)
Starting lineup: [4-5-1] Bravo, Hernandez, Poulsen (c), Asamoah, Kerr, Collins, Foxe, Hardwick, Forrester, Valenzuela, McPeen
Key player(s): Lionel Bravo's consistency between the sticks, combined with Thomas Poulsen's command of the backline probably constitute more to the team's durability than anything else. Valenzuela is relied heavily upon as a creative outlet in a usually packed midfield.
Squad depth: Robert Gilet shows promise as an attacker, and Paul Simon provides flexibility in defence as a sweeper, but aside from that, Blacktube are limited.
Summary: Blacktube's combative style suits them well, and their fans love to get behind them. At home they were considerably stronger last year, but its hard to tell whether this will be the case again. Expect them to focus on the league, and be fighting off relegation until late in the season.
Holcombe says: Blacktube haven't changed at all since last season, and this could hurt them. Valenzuela will be a marked man and they will struggle to keep him at the club if they cant improve on last year - which I think they can, but its going to be tough.

Burningham City F.C.
Current OFA Rank: 3rd
Last season: 3rd
Manager: Sir George Pennant
Stadium: Elishat Stadium, Burningham (72,000)
Starting lineup: [4-4-2] Saughennessy*, Cooley, Honsou, Shahar* (c), Figueroa, O'Shea, Nakata, Doyle, Jacobsen, McNeill, Reyale
Key player(s): Caspian Reyale, the Kryosi goalmachine, will be as important as ever in leading the line. While at the back, Melvyn Shahar (Tyrrin) and Satoshi Nakata will be needed to continue their fine form in snuffing out opposition attacks between the defence and the midfield.
Squad depth: Sir George did appear to have a problem with strikers until the summer, when he - surprisingly - picked up Lance Sandoval. Sandoval provides a medium point between the experienced but aging Antarctistani Ridon, and the youthful but inexperienced McNeill. In addition, the signing of Lo'me Kamaku'wi provides decent cover at centre back.
Summary: Burningham City have been top four for almost thirty years, and with good reason. Sir George Pennant is perhaps the most admired manager in Osarian football, and with good reason. Expect Burningham to mount another serious title challenge, and with added squad depth, they may just take it.
Holcombe says: I'm going to be controversial here. I don't think they will win the league, but I can see them winning one of the cups. The league eludes them these days and I think its the transition between generations. McNeill is a phenomenal talent, but he isn't as clinical as some of his peers. Give this team another couple of years and they will be dominating Osarian football again, just not yet.

Callisto City F.C.
Current OFA Rank: 8th
Last season: 5th
Manager: Donovan MacLean
Stadium: Golden Temple, Callisto (32,000)
Starting lineup: [4-1-2-3] Schroeder, Williams, Barbur, Popkin, Diya*, Treville, Hensley, Todd (c), Frain, Aderholt, Nwaraba
Key player(s): Lana Schroeder was a key part of Callisto's successful campaign last season, keeping out goals. Equally important was Callistan hero Robert Aderholt, who is surely looking at a national call up if he keeps up his scoring. Tomi Diya will be one to watch this season, as will defensive midfielder Marc Treville.
Squad depth: Callisto have a few talented youngsters, but no real standout names. This shouldn't be discounted though, as MacLean has shown an affinity for getting the best out of young players.
Summary: Donovan MacLean has done a great job with Callisto. Taking them from Royal League two years ago, to UICA qualification in the King's League last season. His preference for signing hungry, young players has served him well. The average squad age is just 25, yet they have gone toe-to-toe with some of the big dogs already. With MacLean being touted as a future national team manager, expect to see Callisto push on. The signing of Tyrrinian attacking full back Tomi Diya underlines the team's intention of really getting at other teams this season.
Holcombe says: I want them to repeat their previous successes, but I'm not sure. I expect them to finish top half again, but we might see them tail off later in the season, as MacLean will probably opt to focus on a cup competition.

Charleston Athletic F.C.
Current OFA Rank: 18th
Last season: 3rd in Royal League
Manager: Robert Collinson
Stadium: The Qube, Alano (60,000)
Starting lineup: [5-4-1] Ramiro (c), Kinoz'gh*, Reeves, Bennett, Puckett, Kidd, Yoba, O'Neill, Estrada, Jacobs, Stafford
Key player(s): Lorenzo Ramiro is easily the most important player in the team, keeping the defence in order. Santos Estrada is the best attacker on the team, and will be key in the creation - or scoring - of the precious few goals we can expect from Charleston. Vegan full back Mace Kinoz'gh is untested at this level, but is a strong addition to an already impressive defence.
Squad depth: As expected, Charleston have decent depth in defensive positions, but almost none otherwise.
Summary: Charleston's ultra defensive, catenaccio-inspired system served them well in the Royal League, but the King's League is much tougher, and they will probably struggle to score goals. They should keep out enough to stay up, but ideally they would want to invest in - or loan - a quick, clinical striker.
Holcombe says: Without someone to consistently put the ball in the back of the net, Charleston are doomed. They are going to be in a relegation dogfight all season, and although they might stay up by virtue of their defense, I wouldnt count on it. Then again, picking up 0-0 draws where other teams in and around them may have fallen 1-0 could be the difference come matchday 38.

Firewood City F.C.
Current OFA Rank: 1st
Last season: 4th
Manager: Willem Hamel
Stadium: The Cauldron, Firewood (54,000) - Expansion work was completed in pre-season, and The Geert Bakker Stand re-opened
Starting lineup: [4-4-2] Florian, Harding, Daley, Ryerson, Maldini, Watson, Lewis (c), Orelin, Bonriou, Lopez, Wilson-Ouaddou
Key player(s): In a team of stars, its hard to say, but Jermain Lewis is by far the most important part in the Firewood engine. Pacy attackers Benni Watson and Rene Wilson-Ouaddou are integral parts of the all-offense Firewood gameplan. Another name to watch is Gabriel Russell. The youngster is already being tipped as the natural successor to Jermain Lewis.
Squad depth: Hamel has the luxury of having substitues of mid-table quality or better in almost every position. This is backed up by one of the most highly-rated youth academies in Osarius.
Summary: Firewood will be hungry following their disappointments last season, and their Osarius internationals even moreso. Expect the younger players to make breakthroughs, and players like Remy Bonriou and Orelin to take their game to another level
Holcombe says: After the pain of last season, I fully expect Firewood to return to the top of the pile. Especially considering their most hated rivals are currently champions. If there is a team which embodies Osarian passion in football, its Firewood. Hamel's men are my pick for the King's League title this season. My only concern is that the first eleven appear to be aging a little, expect to see some of the youth players who took the club to three cup finals in recent years, to make their breakthroughs.

Grasshoppers Turic FC
Current OFA Rank: 2nd
Last season: 2nd
Manager: Karl Heinz-Grichenbauer
Stadium: Turic Thunderdome, Turic (31,000)
Starting lineup: [4-5-1] Maltes, Deckford, Poulsen, Gidds (c), Collestinio, de Vriers, Millican, Rielle, Gremio, Garabona, Gonzalez*
Key player(s): Antarctistani striker Felix Gonzalez will really be under pressure this season, following the departure of Turic legend Dean Atkinson. Garabona and Gidds are stalwarts, but their understudies - Gremio and Poulsen, respectively - are definitely the ones to watch this season.
Squad depth: With a further three internationals on the bench, and talented young players out on loan who could be recalled - as well as a highly regarded academy and the best women's side in Osarius - Turic have plenty of squad depth. Most notable among the players on the Turic bench is Rhianna Johnson, the manager fought hard to keep her at the Thunderdome, so expect her to feature often.
Summary: Turic have always been up there, and this year will be no different. Losing your best goalscorer of all time would cripple most teams, but not Turic. Heinz-Grichenbauer has his team set up in a modified 4-5-1 this season, designed to maximise support for Gonzalez. This, combined with Johnson and another Antarctistani, Zazalane, on the bench ready to come in at any time, suggests that Turic are going to be harder to stop now, as they appear capable of scoring from all over the midfield.
Holcombe says: The changed focus of the team will give them an edge over the competition but I think they will narrowly lose out to Firewood this year. It will be very tight though, and I don't doubt they'll be back in the TQCC next time around. They are far too consistent to slip out of contention.

Greeningham City F.C.
Current OFA Rank: 5th
Last season: 1st
Manager: Alan Gould
Stadium: Green Bowl, Greeningham (51,000)
Starting lineup: [4-4-2] Sullivan, Caceres, Hoyt, Opoku, Carsley, Smalley, Bielsa (c), Fortunado*, Edwards, Marley*, Di Maria
Key player(s): Last season's top scorer Zack Marley is a given, as is fan favourite "Gorgeous" Georgina Carsley. New signing Rio Fortunado is expected to add flair to a solid midfield, and with such a huge price tag, the Tyrrinian will be the focus of a lot of fans and pundits alike.
Squad depth: Greeningham have a decent bench, most notably holding women's internationals Sadie Park and Jana Knezivic. However, the Giants don't possess the same level of youth talent as their title rivals.
Summary: Gould appears to have pre-empted what may have been a concern this season and opted to make a statement at the same time. The signing of Tyrrin international Rio Fortunado should help create even more chances for lethal forward Zack Marley. Di Maria appears to be the perfect foil for the young Connarian forward, too. The team is still relatively young in general, though, and the inexperience in some quarters may prove crucial.
Holcombe says: The Giants will challenge again, but I think their bench isnt as strong as Firewood's, Turic's or Burningham's. Last season, they benefited from Firewood's distraction, Atkinson's injury trouble, and Burningham's inconsistency if we're honest. They are a capable side, and could pull of a two-in-a-row, but I can't see it happening. Top four for sure, though.

Hamtown Athletic F.C.
Current OFA Rank: 16th
Last season: 7th
Manager: James Davidson (player/manager)
Stadium: The Sty, Hamtown (29,000)
Starting lineup: [4-4-2] Rose (c), James, Judson, Garrison, Chambers, Akpala, Janukova, Bernard, Begley, Parekh, Woods
Key player(s): Ragnish Parekh, signed from Firewood in the summer, may prove to be the defining factor alongside talented young striker Luke Woods. Matthew Rose takes over from his long-time mentor Davidson as reliable custodian, while the signing of Petra Janokuva should help to organize a potentially effective midfield.
Squad depth: After going into administration not too long ago, Hamtown's finances are still recovering. The team still relies heavily on signing experienced players nearing retirement from bigger clubs on the cheap, and bringing through youngsters from their reasonably good youth academy. Two or three key injuries could see them implode. On the plus side, Davidson is still a capable goalkeeper and can step in at any time to help steady the ship.
Summary: Hamtown's recovery from their financial nightmare is nothing short of remarkable, as was last year's top seven finish. The squad has tons of potential, but with an inexperienced manager, and a relative lack of squad depth, its unlikely that they will repeat last year's success and could possibly end up being sucked into a relegation scrap if luck doesnt go their way.
Holcombe says: I like James Davidson, he's a good guy and a great keeper, but I have to question his managerial skills. I think Hamtown will be lucky to finish mid-table. However, Parekh is a great striker and could bring Woods' game along too. Considering Davidson will be closer to the players, he may be able to inspire them better, or they may feel compelled to work harder for him, so there is always an outside chance of a repeat of last season.

Hastmead Diamante CFC
Current OFA Rank: 12th
Last season: 1st in Royal League
Manager: Amandeep Sahota
Stadium: Black Patch Park, Carbonia (21,000)
Starting lineup: [4-3-3] Flores, Trump, Furgo, Sanchez, Williams, Peranio, Collingwood (c), Villa, Andrews, Carlson, Lescott
Key player(s): The midfield trio in Hastmead is key. The interplay between women's team starlet Hope Peranio, Flying Sparks playmaker Francesco Villa, and their captain Hugh Collingwood is integral to their success on the field.
Squad depth: Hastmead, despite being a recently promoted side, have excellent squad depth. The bench has a nice mixture of positions, as well as youth and experience. On top of that, having the best youth academy in the nation means Sahota has plenty of quality reserves.
Summary: Hastmead's youthful squad showed their ability last season with an impressive OFA cup and Royal League double, with an average squad age of just 21. This season, they have the talent to rise above the relegation dogfight, and re-establish themselves in the King's League.
Holcombe says: Amandeep Sahota has an interesting policy regarding youth... he keeps his more experienced players on the bench. This maximises development of his younger players but means he can still call on the players he may need in a clinch situation. This philosophy works against most teams and I can see it taking Hastmead to a mid-table position, possibly even better. Its also possible they will have another good cup run, as younger players seem to fare better in cups.

Highport Athletic F.C.
Current OFA Rank: 15th
Last season: 10th
Manager: Samuel Walters
Stadium: The Docks, Highport (26,000)
Starting lineup: [3-1-4-2] Barrios, van der Vaan, Carter, Bolton*, Del Piero (c), Ellis, Villatoro, Howard, Gonzalez, Greene, Owens
Key player(s): Dean Carter is the primary ball-winner of the back three, while veteran captain Roberto Del Piero tends to organise the defence. Going forward, Highport rely on Teresa Gonzalez to create chances.
Squad depth: This season, Highport's bench looks considerably weaker than in recent years, with Walters having to rely heavily on youth players.
Summary: The first eleven is strong enough to comfortably finish in mid-table. However, should Highport face any injury or suspension worries, there is a real danger they could find themselves in a relegation scrap.
Holcombe says: I can't see them going down, but Walters will really need to reinforce if he doesn't want them to face a struggle later in the season. If he hasnt before the window closes, then we can only assume he has some really good kids coming through. But I doubt it.

Junipa Athletic F.C.
Current OFA Rank: 22nd
Last season: 17th
Manager: Gonzalo Hernandez
Stadium: Triple G Stadium, Junipa (25,000)
Starting lineup: [4-4-2] Hernandez, Brethers, Torrence, Buccelato, Bucchi, Cardwell, Bosacky, Enyeama (c), Burton, Elden, Mouassi
Key player(s): Ikenna Enyeama has been a key part of the Junipa squad since signing from Rapid Hearthlands three seasons ago, while new signings Graham Torrence and boss' son Manuel Hernandez promise to be key parts of the team's defence. Ibrahim Mouassi is one to watch, on loan from Hastmead Diamante. The fruits of his partnership with club top scorer Marques Elden may be the difference between 17th place and relegation.
Squad depth: Junipa are another side struggling in this department, relying largely on youth players to fill any gaps which may arise. Not ideal, but Junipa do have a fairly impressive academy. Lawrence Avery is worth watching.
Summary: Junipa will struggle again, most likely. Gonzalo Hernandez has, however, effectively put his job in his son's - hopefully safe - hands. Should the 2.5m credit signing from Dynamo Druz fail to live up to the hype, it would almost certainly see Hernandez's reign come to an end.
Holcombe says: The exciting combination of Elden and Mouassi, with Avery a capable backup.

Kart Hago FC
Current OFA Rank: 14th
Last season: 13th
Manager: Richard Deacon
Stadium: Kart Hago Koliseum, Kart Hago (36,000)
Starting lineup: [4-3-3] Buchanan, Wilkerson, Suder, Rodgers, Linwood, McInally, O'Neill, Pettea, Trent, Golanski (c), Conway
Key player(s): Team captain and top scorer last season, Tomas Golanski will be the difference between a relegation scrap and a comfortable mid-table finish for Kart Hago.
Squad depth: Kart Hago have almost no real squad depth. They have reserves, but those reserves are more suited to Royal Leagu football.
Summary: As long as Golanski stays fit, there should be nothing to fear for Kart Hago. However, as the traditional home of the cult hero - so many have graced their books over the years - it wouldn't be surprising if one of the reserves stepped up to the plate if Golanski were out of commission. The crowds in the Koliseum can do that.
Holcombe says: With their great home support, and the capability to score from all over the pitch, I can't see Kart Hago getting pulled into a relegation scrap. Golanski is key, though. The clinical forward needs to score the goals that will keep them out of the mire. Alfonso Pettea, Isaiah Conway and Byron Trent are all capaple scorers too, so that might ease some of the burden on the captain, which can only help the team.

Kings Guard Sporting Club
Current OFA Rank: 6th
Last season: 8th
Manager: Major Hubert Overmars
Stadium: Crown Valley Stadium, Burningham (45,000)
Starting lineup: [4-4-2] Holden, Khan, Allomere (c), Gilroy, Fox, Daniels, Armstrong, Dhanda, Bhogal, Webster, Sharp
Key player(s): KGSC has no key players, effectively. Aside from a few veterans, Captain Allomere, and Lieutenants Dhanda and Armstrong perhaps.
Squad depth: Since the KGSC can draw players from their ranks at any time, and the fitness exam to get into the King's Guard Corps is strenuous, at the very least KGSC have perhaps the most physically impressive unit in the league. All reserves will at least be athletic.
Summary: KGSC have historically been a strong side, as their athleticism is the result of extensive training for their duties. As a football team, they are organised particularly well at both offense and defense, and their regular turnover of personnel never has a detrimental effect on the team because of this. Expect to see them finishing in a UICA place or near to one at the very least. Even though they wont actually accept it.
Holcombe says: King's Guard Sporting are phenomenal athletes. I'm sure that these guys could compete at OCF level in combat, and olympic level for endurance events. I can't see this well drilled side full of potentially elite athletes struggling in the slightest. They might not have the necessary flair or technique to win titles these days, as the game has evolved, but they are comfortably a top eight side.

Maharia United F.C.
Current OFA Rank: 23rd
Last season: 2nd in Royal League
Manager: Franz Hitzlsperger
Stadium: Euribus Arena, Maharia (41,000)
Starting lineup: [4-1-3-2] Shaw, Logan, Feltscher, Gravely, Lansbury (c), Chunbury, Yago, Contreras, Sorrentino, Samppa*, Zamora
Key player(s): Wingers Fernando Yago and DeAndre Sorrentino were key to Maharia's success last season, and are sure to have an integral role in creating chances for Zamora again, as well as new signing and promising Tyrrinian forward Alfwin Samppa.
Squad depth: Maharia have decent squad depth considering they were a Royal League side last season, although this may be due to their location. Tubriss is full of talented players but their teams aren't too successful. Now that Maharia are officially the second best Tubriss side, they effectively share the best youth players in the region with Hamtown.
Summary: Like most newly promoted sides, its reasonable to assume that Maharia will encounter problems and face a struggle to stay up. However, their attacking style will cause trouble for some bottom half sides, and maybe even a few of the bigger teams. Expect to see Maharia pick up a couple of shock wins.
Holcombe says: I like Maharia, they're a very exciting team to watch, with their 5-man offense. however, I'm not convinced that Samppa will be able to cut it in the King's League. It takes a special kind of teenager to do it, especially if they're not used to Osarian football. If he can acclimatise quickly, though, Maharia will have no trouble staying up.

Muirford Athletic F.C.
Current OFA Rank: 19th
Last season: 12th
Manager: Arthur Everett
Stadium: Serpent's Coil, Mare (23,000)
Starting lineup: [4-4-2] Kane, Thorn, McCannon, Kunis, Keen, Russo, Morrow, Simpson, Wyatt, Mercado (c), Rossi
Key player(s): Micah Wyatt's rookie season was impressive and the young left midfielder will be the one to watch for Muirford, as he has the ability to create something from nothing. Julio Mercado will, as always, be relied upon to score the needed goals, and lead the team through troubled waters.
Squad depth: Muirford's squad depth is adequate. Nothing more, nothing less. They are capable of covering every position, although the replacements are perhaps more suited to Royal League sides in some ways. As a general rule, this doesn't have a major effect on the team. However, in important clashes, or matches against the stronger sides, the shortcomings of Muirford's bench become painfully apparent.
Summary:
Holcombe says:

Paper Tree Town F.C.
Current OFA Rank: 29th
Last season: 16th
Manager: Marcus Crow (Kryosis)
Stadium: Papyrus Stadium, Barcho (22,000)
Starting lineup: [5-3-1-1] Daderio*, Zarate, Pelagatti, Conti (c), Kaufman, Bernard, Huron, Raymond, Wilder, Blankenship, Beardsmore
Key player(s): Michael Beardsmore is the focal point of almost every PTT attack, and Luca Conti works in tandem with Jared Huron to keep a tight defense.
Squad depth: Excellent depth in defence, but only one other recognised senior striker, and he has only just graduated from the youth academy. An injury to Beardsmore could see PTT relegated.
Summary: Between Luca Conti's marshalling of a well organised defence - thanks to Kryosi defensive legend, and former Dynapolis United captain Marcus Crow - and the goal-poaching of Michael Beardsmore, you'd expect PTT to do better. However, Crow's philosophy is based on a team which had the greatest striker in Osarian football history. As good as Beardsmore is on his day, there is a reason he has no caps.
Holcombe says: Unless the rest of the team steps up and either creates more chances for Beardsmore or they score more goals themselves, Paper Tree Town will struggle again.

Renneville United F.C.
Current OFA Rank: 7th
Last season: 11th
Manager: Craig Kinslain (Kryosis)
Stadium: Renneville Arena, Renneville (28,000)
Starting lineup: [4-4-1-1] Chavez, Pugh, Kennedy, McLaughlin, Sears, Holden, Birch, Marino (c), Racine, Pitfield, Weeks
Key player(s): The signings of women's internationals Liliana Racine and Amelia Pitfield should boost the team's fortunes going forward, while Harold Pugh is a consistent performer in a very inconsistent team.
Squad depth: Renneville's trump card is perhaps on the bench. 20 year old Frank Hammond is a highly regarded talent and more than capable of covering for Aiden Weeks. There are also a fair few other youngsters waiting to make a name for themselves should injury or suspension strike.
Summary: Renneville's freak 3rd place int he King's League two seasons ago seems like a distant memory now, but the team still possess the potential to gatecrash the higher places. However, Kinslain will need them to perform consistently if they are to improve on what appears to be their true position in mid-table.
Holcombe says: Consistency is key for Renneville. Racine and Pitfield will be able to maybe help instill that, and Hammond's hunger will perhaps be infectious. If not, expect to see Renneville finish mid-table as always. If they find that consistency, UICA qualification isnt beyond their capabilities.

Trothwands Evolution
Current OFA Rank: 4th
Last season: 6th
Manager: Mervyn Phillips
Stadium: Trothwands Terrordome, Trothwands (67,000)
Starting lineup: [4-4-2] Torregrossa, Aquilani, Baringer, Bradford, Watson, Sledd, Morelli, Lubret (c), Coffey, Orre, Pryor
Key player(s): Player of the season last time around, Malachi Lubret will, as always, be instrumental to the success of Trothwands. His midfield partner Emilio Morelli appears to have forged a stronger understanding with him now, too. Ashley Watson - younger brother of Osarian international, Benni - was a good pickup from Hastmead too, adding a bit more spice to the Firewood-Trothwands clashes this season.
Squad depth: While not on the same level as the Hastmead, Turic or Firewood academies, Trothwands have some pretty impressive youngsters themselves. Flavio Aquilani's graduation last season at the age of 17 underlines this.
Summary: With some reinforcements coming in, and perhaps a renewed team hunger and a rejuvenated Malachi Lubret... its not unfeasible to think that Trothwands could be in the title hunt this time around. The OFA ranks them alongside the usual suspects now, and Mervyn Phillips is an ambitious young manager. They may be dark horses for the King's League Championship.
Holcombe says: I expect to see Trothwands perhaps push onto the next level this season. Mervyn Phillips is really making a statement by signing Orre and Watson. Its almost as if he wants to make it clear that he wants his side to be rivals to Firewood. This season, they may well realistically prove themselves to be the equal of Hamel's side.

Utica United F.C.
Current OFA Rank: 11th
Last season: 15th
Manager: John Freeman
Stadium: Utica University Campus, Utica (30,000)
Starting lineup: [4-4-2] Santa Cruz (c), Molina, Jonas, Delatte, Banks, Coby, Ruiz, Gallardo, Best, Williams, Maxwell
Key player(s): Hugo Santa Cruz is expected to be a cool head among a squad of babes, while Donna Delatte and Lakisha Banks add experience and technique to a fiery defensive lineup.
Squad depth: Drawing from Utica University - with whom the team have a new link - Utica now have direct access to some of the best young athletes in Osarius. Whether John Freeman and his coaching team can convert those great athletes into great footballers remains to be seen, though.
Summary: With an average squad age of just 22, its easy to draw parallels with Hastmead Diamante. However, most of Utica's squad is inexperienced in comparison. Last season they fought off relegation, and this season may not be much different, depending on how quickly the youngsters advance on the steep learning curve that is the King's League.
Holcombe says: I think the Utica board have been very silly. They allowed Calvin Harris and Jake Mooney to both leave the club, under the assumption that the youngsters could fill the gap. I dont think they will. Utica are likely to go down this season, in my eyes. But it will probably be good for the youngsters, they will come back in a couple of seasons a much stronger side.

HYDRO SUPER LEAGUE - SEASON SEVEN (PART IV OF IV)

Clausura Tournament

MD11:

Nacional 2-1 Vaud
Chiquito 1-2 Fontvielle
Slateport 1-0 Montreux
Pradera 1-1 Nord Energie
Tannenberg 3-2 Marinos
Canalave 0-2 Eterna
Olympique 1-1 Cerro
Alligators 4-0 Belfort
Pumas 1-2 Caimanes
Bezieres 2-0 Hamanos

Metropolis Alligators continue as leader of the Clausura, after thrashing a weak Belfort in Metropolis. Bezieres and Caimanes are placed in second and third place respectively with their victories over Pumas and Hamanos, teams who are trying to avoid relegation. The fight for the GC-AFI berths between Fontvielle Impact, Caimanes, Slateport Bulls and Eterna Stars is now involving the last season champions, Tannenberg FC, who defeated Marinos to start to assure their place in an UICA competition.

MD12:

Vaud 1-1 Bezieres
Nacional 2-0 Chiquito
Fontvielle 3-0 Slateport
Montreux 2-4 Pradera
Nord Energie 1-2 Tannenberg
Marinos 3-1 Canalave
Eterna 4-1 Cerro
Belfort 0-2 Olympique
Pumas 0-1 Alligators
Hamanos 1-1 Caimanes

Another victory for the Alligators, who seemed to be the most benefited team with Bezieres' and Caimanes' respective draws. Metropolis Alligators are now leading the Clausura with 30 points, without a lost match in this Clausura. Nacional (who already have their spot in the TQCC) was the other benefited team and reached the second place with 26 points, four less than the Alligators. In a direct match for a Globe Cup spot, Fontvielle Impact defeated Slateport Bulls, who are sinking in the eighth place of the Overall Standings with 57 points, two points less than Caimanes and Eterna Stars, who are the teams fighting for the AFI spot. Montreux and Belfort are closer than ever to the B-League with their defeats, and Hamanos are trying to get out of the relegation zone.

MD13:

Chiquito 1-1 Vaud
Slateport 0-1 Nacional
Pradera 1-2 Fontvielle
Tannenberg 1-0 Montreux
Canalave 3-0 Nord Energie
Cerro 2-3 Marinos
Belfort 1-3 Eterna
Olympique 0-1 Pumas
Alligators 3-1 Hamanos
Caimanes 1-1 Bezieres

Metropolis Alligators are getting closer to the Clausura title after their victory over Hamanos AC. With 29 points, Nacional is the escort in this Clausura, wanting to get the title in this season without playing the Canalave Crown. Meanwhile, in the Overall Standings, the fight for the GC-AFI spots is hot between Bezieres, Tannenberg, Fontvielle Impact, Eterna Stars and Caimanes. Marinos and Slateport Bulls, with 57 points still have a little chance to qualify to any of these tournaments. In the low part of the standings, Pumas managed to get away from the relegation zone after defeating the Olympique de Fontvielle, and Hamanos, Montreux and Belfort lost their respective matches and are almost "certifying" their presence in the B-League for the next season.

MD14:

Bezieres 1-0 Chiquito
Vaud 1-3 Slateport
Nacional 2-0 Pradera
Fontvielle 3-2 Tannenberg
Montreux 1-0 Canalave
Nord Energie 0-2 Cerro
Marinos 2-1 Belfort
Eterna 0-0 Pumas
Hamanos 2-1 Olympique
Caimanes 1-0 Alligators

In the "Reptilian Derby", Caimanes defeated Metropolis Alligators, and this result, added to Nacional's victory over Pradera, and the thrilling match in Fontvielle, where the Impact defeated Tannenberg, made the things more interesting for the Clausura title. Hamanos managed to get out from the Relegation zone, where Nord Energie entered with their loss to Cerro. With five matches left in the Clausura, things are starting to be defined.

MD15:

Slateport 1-1 Chiquito
Pradera 2-0 Vaud
Tannenberg 1-1 Nacional
Canalave 2-2 Fontvielle
Cerro 1-1 Montreux
Belfort 0-1 Nord Energie
Pumas 1-2 Marinos
Eterna 2-0 Hamanos
Olympique 1-2 Caimanes
Alligators 1-2 Bezieres

Metropolis Alligators lost their second match in the Clausura, and the second in a row, after being defeated by Bezieres. Nacional, Fontvielle Impact and SC Caimanes took advantage of this with their respective victories and draws. Even Eterna Stars and Marinos Metropolis, both fighting for the fifth place in the Overall Standings, have big chances of winning the Clausura and the second spot to the TQCC. Meanwhile, Belfort can become in the first relegated team in the next matchday if they lose to Montreux, one of their direct rivals.

MD16:

Bezieres 3-2 Slateport
Chiquito 1-0 Pradera
Vaud 1-1 Tannenberg
Nacional 2-0 Canalave
Fontvielle 1-1 Cerro
Montreux 1-0 Belfort
Nord Energie 2-2 Pumas
Hamanos 0-3 Marinos
Eterna 1-1 Caimanes
Alligators 1-0 Olympique

Metropolis Alligators and Nacional are sharing the first place of this Clausura, both teams with 35 points. Bezieres (35), Marinos (34), Fontvielle Impact and Caimanes (33) are the escorts of the leaders, who have already assured their participation in UICA competitions the next season (The Alligators can still go to the Globe Cup). In other news, RC Belfort lost to Montreux, sealing their relegation to the B-League with three matches left. "Les Rouge et Noir" have only 16 points and the 17th team in the Overall Standings (Vaud) have 28 points, with only 9 points left.

MD17:

Pradera 0-2 Slateport
Tannenberg 1-0 Chiquito
Canalave 1-0 Vaud
Cerro 1-2 Nacional
Belfort 0-1 Fontvielle
Pumas 1-1 Montreux
Hamanos 2-3 Nord Energie
Caimanes 2-0 Marinos
Alligators 1-1 Eterna
Olympique 1-2 Bezieres

With two matches left, Nacional took the lead in the Clausura. Their victory over Cerro added to the Alligators' draw with Eterna Stars, helped "La Academia" to reach the first place. Bezieres is now in second place with their victory over Olympique de Fontvielle, which also helped them to assure their presence in UICA competitions. The fight for the other two Globe Cup spots and the AFI one is now between Fontvielle Impact, Tannenberg FC, SC Caimanes, Eterna Stars and Marinos Metropolis. And Hamanos AC can become the second relegated team if they lose to Montreux, one of their direct rivals. (Maybe Montreux can do the same thing they did to Belfort in the last matchday...)

MD18:

Pradera 1-1 Bezieres
Slateport 1-0 Tannenberg
Chiquito 2-1 Canalave
Vaud 0-0 Cerro
Nacional 5-0 Belfort
Fontvielle 1-0 Pumas
Montreux 1-2 Hamanos
Nord Energie 0-3 Caimanes
Marinos 1-0 Alligators
Eterna 2-0 Olympique

Nacional is closer than ever to their first title after their thrashing to the relegated Belfort. Only three teams can stop Nacional's celebration: AS Bezieres, Fontvielle Impact and SC Caimanes. Metropolis Alligators lost every chance after losing to their arch-rivals Marinos. Three teams fighting for the title, other four teams fighting for a place in the next Globe Cup or AFI and other four teams trying to avoid relegation. The last and final matchday will be decisive for every Super League club.

MD19:

Canalave 1-3 Slateport
Cerro 2-0 Chiquito

Tannenberg 1-1 Pradera
Belfort 0-2 Vaud
Hamanos 0-1 Fontvielle
Caimanes 0-0 Montreux
Olympique 1-1 Marinos
Pumas 1-2 Nacional
Alligators 3-0 Nord Energie
Bezieres 0-1 Eterna

Nacional won the Clausura with a victory in Maldonado. As Nacional were the Apertura champions, they are officially crowned as the season champions. This allows Metropolis Alligators to qualify to the TQCC with their victory over Nord Energie and Bezieres' defeat to Eterna Stars. Both teams will be back in the next Globe Cup, along with Fontvielle Impact. SC Caimanes will make their debut in the Aeropag Football Invitational. Surprisingly, Tannenberg FC and Slateport Bulls will not compete the next season in UICA tournaments and Montreux and Hamanos AC will join Belfort in the B-League the next season. That said, here are the standings:

En bloc, here come the results of the Trofeo Royal (The Pocoan equivalent of the F.A Cup)

Starting at round 1, where the 4 teams who finished bottom of League II face off against one another.

Renato Albion 0-2 Hunslet Wanderers
Villa Flumineiro 2-2 Palampas (2-4 AET)

It was a traveling Hunslet Wanderers who overcame Renato Albion 2-0 away from home who first advanced from the weekends fixtures, goals from Liam Delfacey and Gazika Enrique proved enough for the side to progress. In the other fixture, it was a much closer affair needing extra time to separate Villa Flumeneiro and Palampas. At 2 a piece the game could have swung either way were it not for a second bookable offence from Villa midfielder Hank Williams which saw his side reduced to ten men. The advantage of an extra man paid dividends for Palampas who went on to score twice in extra time booking themselves a place in round 2.

Round 2 saw the previous seasons 8th and 7th placed teams from League II added to the mix. Ajax Khaldoon II would take on Stourton Town whilst round 1 escapees Palampas and Hunslet would face off.

Ajax Khaldoon II 3-3 Stourton Town (3-3 AET) (Ajax Khaldoon II wins 1-0 on penalty kicks)
Hunslet Wanderers 0-0 Palampas (0-0 AET) (Hunslet Wanderers wins 2-0 on penalty kicks)

A 6 goal thriller kept AKII and Stourton on even footing and sent them into extra time, when neither side could overcome the other it was down to the dreaded penalty shootout (a spectacle to behold if you were a neutral). With four penalties each and none of the 8 efforts hitting the back of the net, Ajax centreback Jan Vickmeier stepped up and smashed his straight down the middle of the goal, needing to score to level the score Stourton winger Lewis Redgrave scuffed his attempt which bobbled tamely by the right post. Rather than a 6 goal thriller the Villa and Hunslet fans were treated to a stale 0-0. Again penalties were needed to separate the pair and the calm nerves of the Hunslet players paid off as they progressed to round three (with the possibility of facing an Una Serie team and a big pay day).

Round three and the thirty other teams from the entire league system were added to the draw.

Athletic Khaldoon 2-2 Rydell United (2-2 AET) (Athletic Khaldoon wins 3-0 on penalty kicks)
MS Leighton 0-1 Pythons
Ajax Khaldoon II 0-2 Salaga F.C
Racing Minanda 1-1 Allied Motor Trade (1-1 AET) (Racing Minanda wins 3-0 on penalty kicks)
Athletico Palampas 1-3 Royal Khaldoon
Burley United 0-1 Almondvale
Valengren Kickers 4-1 Sunset Village
Villa Ortiz 2-3 Belle-Isle on Sea
Skyte City 1-2 Jonastown United
Hunslet Wanderers 2-1 Racing Cruzeira
Old Forrest 1-3 Ridgemont Town
Burston Wanderers 2-5 Augustus
New Boys Royceton 2-1 Port Los Renato
Real Minanda 1-1 East Khaldoon Park (1-1 AET) (Real Minanda wins 2-0 on penalty kicks)
Garrincha F.C. 1-0 1860 Flumineiro
Valengren Rovers 3-2 Barbossa

Una Serie team Athletic Khaldoon faced off against Rydell United in a fixture that would be played out again next season following Rydell’s promotion from League I. Once again the necessity of penalties was felt as the two played out a 2-2 draw after extra time. Athletic easily won the shootout, going three for 0 and would head into the 4th round. League champions Pythons would face a League I side and would need a late Dmitri Zukava goal to ease them through. Despite dominating from start to finish Pythons couldn’t overcome the MS Leighton solid back four until the 82nd minute. It was up to Salaga to end the cup dreams of Ajax Khaldoon II in a battling performance at the League II side’s home ground and Royal Khaldoon squashed any chances of a cup giant killing beating Athletico Palampas 3-1 comfortably. Elsewhere Augustus, despite some shoddy defending of their own, raced past Burston Wanderers winning 5-2. In the only all Una Serie tie, Jonastown traveled to Skyte and late goals would earn them the opportunity to play in the next round.

Round 4, and one step shy of the quarter finals.

Athletic Khaldoon 0-3 Pythons
Salaga F.C 1-2 Racing Minanda
Royal Khaldoon 4-1 Almondvale
Valengren Kickers 1-1 Belle-Isle on Sea (1-1 AET) (Valengren Kickers wins 2-0 on penalty kicks)
Jonastown United 1-0 Hunslet Wanderers
Ridgemont Town 3-1 Augustus
New Boys Royceton 2-2 Real Minanda (2-2 AET) (New Boys Royceton wins 1-0 on penalty kicks)
Garrincha F.C. 4-1 Valengren Rovers

There would be three matches pitting top flight sides against one another and Pythons, Royal Khaldoon and Ridgemont Town made the quarters at a canter. Elsewhere Garrincha made light work of Valengren Rovers, beating them into submission with a 4-1 drubbing and it was the trusty penalty kick method which helped New Boys Royceton and Valengren Kickers through to the quarter finals.

The quarter finals, for anybody below the Una Serie this is a dream come true, for those in charge of the top teams in the league this is where they expect to get to.

Valengren Kickers 1-1 Racing Minanda (2-2 AET) (Valengren Kickers wins 1-0 on penalty kicks)
Jonastown United 2-2 Pythons (2-2 AET) (Jonastown United wins 1-0 on penalty kicks)
Ridgemont Town 3-1 Garrincha F.C.
New Boys Royceton 1-4 Royal Khaldoon

Valengren Kickers whose form had been patchy recently stuttered against Racing Minanda and after a 1-1 tie needed PK’s to reach the semis. A 2-2 draw at the Caiman Stadium needed Pythons or Jonastown to step up and win on penalties. J-Town prevailed and once again Pythons wouldn’t reach the final. Garrincha were stopped in their tracks by a Ridgemont side hungry to repeat the previous two seasons and reach the final and Royal Khaldoon killed any dreams New Boys had of reaching the final with an easy looking 4-1 win.

Semi-finals. So close. Yet so far.

Valengren Kickers 1-5 Jonastown United
Ridgemont Town 0-3 Royal Khaldoon

Ridgemont Town and Royal Khaldoon faced off in a repeat of the last two finals, of which both side had won one a piece. Royal Khaldoon made sure of their spot in the final for the third season on the bounce by easily overcoming Ridgemont 3-0 at the national stadium. However that wasn’t the easiest result of the weekend as Jonastown booked their place in the final for the first time with an emphatic 5-1 mauling of Valengren Kickers. Hitting 3 without reply before the break, Ricky Ortega’s J-Town won at a canter.

The Final. The BIG One.

Jonastown reached the final of the Trofeo Royal for the first time in their history, whilst league leading Royal Khaldoon headed back for yet another bite at the cup cherry.

It looked as if Jonastown were actually going to cause an upset, scoring early on in the first half as the Royal keeper let a long range effort spill out back into the box for the on hand Rildo to tap in. But they were pipped back just before half time after a superb volley from Royal Khaldoon’s Sargossan striker Juan Segura grabbed the League Champions the equalizer.

Ht Jonastown United 1-1 Royal Khaldoon
Rildo (16) Segura (43)

After the break and with everything to play for the game opened up and the sides began to attack and counter attack with chances at both ends. It was Royal who struck first, grabbing the lead after Segura found the net for a second time after a mazy run taking him round several defenders before slotting home.

With half an hour still on the clock, J-Town coach switched to a 3-4-3 bringing on an extra attacker and it was substitute forward Ayhan Genc who nodded home an equalizer at the back post. The Koseli forward then produced an assist which gave the team the lead in the final ten minutes. Squaring the ball for winger Hidalgo, the Pocoan smashed the ball into the roof of the net.

With time elapsing quickly and Tarmo Mae sweating on the touchline Royal Khaldoon pressed forward to find a late equalizer and to take the game into extra time. A surge of attacking play lead to a corner in the 88th minute and with J-Town pinned on their own goal line, it was Royal’s aging home grown attacker Omid Rustu who found the net when the ball came to him in the crowded goal area. A heart breaking goal which set up a tense final 2 minutes with neither side wanting to throw away the possibility of lifting the cup.

It was Royal Khaldoon who came back for extra time looking more enthusiastic and ten minutes into, after 100 minutes of football, Royal’s young winger Jordi picked up the ball on the right touchline. Cutting inside he made a dash toward goal. Nipping between the two centrebacks he found himself in the box with the ball still at his feet. Warren Beattie raced out to meet him, but could do nothing as the international midfielder slid the ball underneath him and into the bottom corner of the goal.

FT (AET) Jonastown United 3-4 Royal Khaldoon
Rildo (16) Segura (43, 58)
Genc (76) Rustu (88)
Hidalgo (82) Jordi (100)

Royal win and achieve a second double, lifting both the league and the Trofeo Royal
----

J-Town can take some solace in entering the Globe Cup, qualifying as runners-up in the final.

First of all, and nearly a season late, the playoff for the previous season:

Semi-Final

West Coast Angels 0-2 Redwood Forest
Aggregate: Redwood Forest 3-0 West Coast Angels

Sephton County 1-2 Etruria
Etruria 1-0 Sephton County
Aggregate: Sephton County 1-3 Etruria

Final
Redwood Forest 5-4 Etruria

Oh well - after all that, no change.

Thanks to mysterious goings-on in the space-time continuum around Vephrall, from here on out only one season's worth of results will be needed to determine UICA entrants. Convenient, eh?

The UICA competitions for club football teams are the most prestigious club tournaments in the world. There are three tournaments--the TakilQuip Champions Cup and Globe Cup for first-division teams, and the Series B Champions Cup for lower divisions. Teams are nominated by their national federations based on performance and national quotas.

My old club, Dover City, are back for the fourth time in UICA. They'll play in the TakilQuip Champions Cup along with Real Santa Catalina. The Babbage representatives in the Globe Cup are Belgium FC (not first division, but as holders of the Islands Cup they received nomination), Bloomfield National, and Wye Celtic.

Here's my take on the players to watch:

For Dover City, Adrian Lemon continues to impress in goal, getting better with age. The Queer Poco native is in his mid-thirties but is not yet slowing down. Glen Brown has raised his game alongside veteran captain Isaac Buffington in midfield, and scoring threats Martha Bishop and Melinda Wood both picked up World Cup experience. They should break into the top 200 in the world rankings this time, but don't expect miracles.

Real Santa Catalina are making their first Champions Cup appearance. Just as they did in the last two Premier League seasons, they'll ride keeper Luis Benito as far as he can carry them. It won't be very far in this company, but the experience will be valuable.

Belgium FC make their second Globe Cup appearance with a whole new attitude. No longer the stunning third-division Cinderella club, they now boast six players who were in the final four teams of World Cup 50. With one of the best keepers on the planet in Allison Salamida and two top-flight midfielders in Kelli Alder and Shannon Myers, Belgium could go fairly deep. They won't win it, but a strong group stage or better run is not unlikely.

Bloomfield National had an off year in the league, if you can call third place an off year. They still have an explosive attack and the last two Premier League MVPs in striker Debbie Sherman and winger Patty Heatherly. Also look for 20-year-old Marc Ducharme to be a force in the middle. This seasoned team will not go quietly.

The player to watch for Wye Celtic is Elizabeth Hanna as Celtic make their second Globe Cup appearance. The 17-year-old keeper will start in the Globe Cup after an injury to starter Sue Allen has placed her career in the balance. Hanna made two creditable starts in the Di Bradini Cup, but we can all simply hope that this tough field doesn't break the promising teen's confidence.

Anyone notice how many keepers I mentioned? In these tourneys, you can run far with a great keeper but you won't survive long with an average one.

The Great Dome in Gernsback has been nominated as a Champions Cup final site as well. It was supposed to be considered last time round, but an administrative snafu saw it left off the ballot sent to voters. The chances for a stadium in the 60,000 range are fairly small, but not non-existent.

Smile!

Cordian city rovers are pumping Kazzoria with pride Seven United are only 3 points off the top and will fight all the way. Lavatorian city and Harbour are both contending to get the title and are looking good. Team Lacot are doing okay just 2 point off Harbour. 5 teams are on twelve points and are contending for 6th place anything could happen with 6 promotions this year is every teams big chance at the big time.
