My city's well-regarded, really. We even supposedly have the world's happiest carnival, or something like that.

Not that I like carnivals.

Description: The place was a shithole during the first and part of the second decade of the second millenium, what with the war on drugs and all that. That was until General Porfirio Santa Anna, an unholy fusion of corruption, emerged from Hell and staged a coup during which he overthrew the government and placed himself at the head of the state as a dictator. He crunched down on all of that drug noise and anything else that caused discord and/or dissent, though some people did respect him for what he was doing. He also made the country get its shit together, mostly because, with the way he ran things, there wasn't much of a choice for the people. Much industrial progress was achieved, though the masses suffered a lot.

His regime didn't last thirty years, though. More like, two, or so, until an insurgent group led by bastard demigod Lito Flores and several other assorted demigods, outcast nonhumans and magic users, and composed of the suffering masses, started a revolution which culminated in the public execution of Porfirio, putting prominent insurgent general Don Bartolo at the presidential chair. The title stuck, though. Mexico didn't get to do much during the Abrahamic War, though random skirmishes between nationa troops or insurgent forces and astray demon invaders did happen on occasion, adding to the chaos.

At present, Mexico is more or less okay. It is no longer being ravaged by internal conflict as drugs are legal now, because Don Bartolo decided that smoking pot was a basic human right. They mostly export pot, food and oil, though their main source of revenue is tourism, more so now that things are more or less safer, and things like the National Taco Day rack up the pesos every year. Luchador spectacles also help quite a bit. Speaking of which, with Don Bartolo's help, Luchadores have slowly become the backbone of Mexican police and military forces. There's still a hell of a lot of ugly places and poverty didn't just disappear, not to mention a lot of resources are being devoted to rebuilding things lost during the Second Revolution at the moment and cannot be used to fix other problems, but they're slowly getting there. The actual president, Cuauhtemoc Flores of the PRD, son of Lito, was democratically elected with a smashing majority of the votes, and is currently working on a nonhuman integration program. Nonhumans, while a growing minority, are often discriminated against, particularly in the suburban areas of cities, as well as on traditionalist regions, though many people do appreciate them for helping out during the Second Revolution. They own a small chunk of Hell which they call "Nuevo Guerrero", as well as a trade agreement with the United Demonic Realms, whose people for some reason are quite fond of chili.
