JFB Premier League Season Two Preview Part Two (What a mouth

Postby Jeckland » Sun Jun 01, 2014 3:25 am

The big four. That's what they called them. And for a reason.

Years ago, money was a lot tigther in Jeckland, with only transport anywhere near the level it is today. This meant that there were only four domestic teams in Jeckland. Rack City Rangers, Peswick Rovers, Mortsey, and Ordbury Athletic. But as money flew into the Jeckish game, more teams formed, then more leagues. But these four were always above and beyond, finishing in the top four every season. But other teams were closing the gap. After the latest reshuffle by the JFB, the league got tighter still, with fourth placed Rack City Rangers only finishing 6 points clear of fifth team Serbury. All the national players from the last World Cup play for the big four bar two, who have left the country. Could this be the year the quadopoly is broken?

The club from the capital city are the richest team in Jeckland, but last season showed that money doesn't always equal success. Only 6 points clear in fourth, Rack City won't settle for much less than the title, but it's a big ask.

Nickname: The Rangers

Manager: Billy Ball (49)
Stadium: City Stadium (cap. 67,800)

DM: Patrick Palmer (22)
RW: Max George (31)
AC: Micah Honnas (25)
LW: Sebastian Stokes (27)

Traditionally the smallest of the four, Peswick will have been delighted to finish about Rack City Rnagers last year. Now they will look to push on towards the top two, but they better look out below.
Nickname: The Millers
Formation: 4-3-3
Manager: Josh Davidson (65)
Stadium: Peswick Park (cap. 70,000)

CM: Sven Johanssen (25)
LM: Zak Haynes (30) (C)

Clyville Albion 1–0 Peswick Town

Fillston United 2–2 Panbury Town

Rack City Rangers 2–2 Loderno Inferno
Peswick Town 0–1 Ordbury Athletic
Poston 2–1 Clyville Albion
Nagelti Rovers 3–0 Spindlow
Lingham City 0–1 Peswick Rovers

Peswick Rovers are now the only team with three wins having beaten Lingham City, who are now the only team with three losses. Rack City drop points against Loderno, and the big clash sees Peswick Town lose to Ordbury Athletic.

MD4

Yonsolo United 1–0 Byton
Rack City Rangers 4–1 Panbury Town
Peswick Town 3–0 Colanso City
Poston 1–2 Loderno Inferno
Nagelti Rovers 0–0 Ordbury Athletic
Lingham City 3–0 Clyville Albion
Peswick Rovers 4–1 Spindlow

Rack City respond to their loss by dishing out a similar thumping to Panbury Town, as do Peswick Rovers to Spindlow. Their local neighbours give Colanso a 3-0 hiding, and Lingham City get their first points on the board with a 3-0 over Clyville Albion.

Post MD5 Table
Jeckish Premier League Pld W D L GF GA GD Pts
1 Peswick Rovers 5 4 0 1 10 4 +6 12
2 Serbury 5 4 0 1 7 3 +4 12
3 Yonsolo United 5 3 2 0 7 3 +4 11
4 Nagelti Rovers 5 3 1 1 10 3 +7 10
5 Loderno Inferno 5 3 1 1 10 9 +1 10
6 Galton United 5 3 0 2 8 5 +3 9
7 Ordbury Athletic 5 2 3 0 4 1 +3 9
8 Rack City Rangers 5 2 2 1 8 6 +2 8
9 Byton 5 2 1 2 6 5 +1 7
10 Panbury Town 5 2 1 2 6 8 −2 7
11 Peswick Town 5 2 0 3 7 5 +2 6
12 Kyslo 5 2 0 3 6 7 −1 6
13 Entown 5 2 0 3 6 9 −3 6
14 Spindlow 5 2 0 3 5 10 −5 6
15 Fillston United 5 1 2 2 4 5 −1 5
16 Colanso City 5 1 2 2 5 7 −2 5
17 Mortsey 5 1 1 3 7 10 −3 4
18 Lingham City 5 1 0 4 4 8 −4 3
19 Poston 5 1 0 4 4 9 −5 3
20 Clyville Albion 5 1 0 4 3 10 −7 3

Big surprises as none of the big four is in the top four, and Peswick Rovers lead the way! Yonsolo are also quietly overachieving in third, and Mortsey are just a point above the drop zone. Is this the season that will change the shape of Jeckish football forever?

MD6
Entown 3–1 Spindlow
Clyville Albion 1–1 Peswick Rovers
Ordbury Athletic 3–0 Lingham City
Loderno Inferno 1–1 Nagelti Rovers
Colanso City 1–0 Poston
Panbury Town 1–3 Peswick Town
Byton 0–1 Rack City Rangers
Kyslo 1–0 Yonsolo United
Mortsey 2–1 Fillston United
Galton United 2–1 Serbury

Mortsey get a much needed win against Fillston, and all other Big Four teams win. Yonsolo lose and Peswick Rovers draw. Is normal service being resumed?

MD7
Serbury 1–0 Entown

Peswick Town currently hold fourth place on goal difference from Serbury. At the bottom, of the four teams most involved it is Lingham City who are currently safe, their GD one better than Byton. Clyville Albion have given themselves a real chance, but things look bleak for Entown. We are well and truly in the business end of the season now. Let's see where this rollercoaster takes us next.

Mortsey fail to clinch the title after a goaless draw against Colanso. Nagelti Rovers beat Poston 3-0, putting them second and giving them a shot at what would be a remarkable title win. Peswick Town beat Lingham City 3-0, a result which sees them remain in the title race and also relegates Lingham. Town and Rovers still have not clinched a Globe Cup spot, with draws from Ordbury Athleitc in fourth, and Colanso City, Serbury, and Kyslo keping them all, at least mathematically, in the hunt. At the bottom, Clyville Albion win against Fillston United, keeping their survival hopes alive. Peswick Rovers draw 1-1 with a Rack City Rangers side in freefall to keep them one point out of the drop zone and put Rack City in danger of missing out on a top half spot.

A draw or better see Mortsey retain the title. If they lose however, it could be won by either Nagelti Rovers or Peswick Town if they win. If one side wins but the other doesn't, the victorious side takes the title and if both sides win, it will go down to goal difference, with Nagelti Rovers currently holding a two goal advantage.

Number Crunching- The Globe Cup Race
Mortsey have already booked a place in at least the Globe Cup. Nagelti and Peswick Town need just a point to ensure they qualify. Ordbury Athletic can qualify with a win. If one of these sides fails to reach 67 points (the lowest number that is guarantted to ensure qualification at this stage) then any of three sides below them, namely Colanso City, Serbury, and Kyslo, can qualify with a win and a sufficient swing in GD, or without the swing if Ordbury lose.

Number Crunching - Survival
Entown and Lingham City are already down and sixteen safe. The two teams left are Clyville Albion and Peswick Rovers. For Clyville to survive, they must either win and Peswick Rovers fail to, or draw and Peswick Rovers lose by three goals or more.

Entown 1–4 Nagelti Rovers
Poston 3–2 Lingham City
Peswick Town 0–0 Peswick Rovers
Rack City Rangers 2–0 Spindlow
Yonsolo United 2–1 Clyville Albion
Fillston United 1–2 Ordbury Athletic
Serbury 2–0 Loderno Inferno
Galton United 1–1 Colanso City
Mortsey 1–0 Panbury Town
Kyslo 4–0 Byton

It is Mortsey who lift the trophy for the second year running, beating Panbury Town 1-0 to retain their title and Champions Cup spot. Nagelti Rovers do all they can, their 4-1 win enough to secure second place in a breakthrough season for the club. Ordbury Athleitc win and Peswick Town draw, both results mean these sides fill the remaining Globe Cup places. At the bottom, Clyville Albion's loss means they go down to Ligue Deuce.

In the fourth season of Aussie Rules football in Jeckland, it was all up for grabs. With Didgeham having fallen to third last cycle, the race for the ARFF places was hotter than ever.

Final Standings Pld W D L PF PA PD Pts
1 Obstyne 22 18 0 4 2662 1475 +1187 72 Champions, ARFF
2 Kanbury 22 18 0 4 2402 1595 +807 72 ARFF
3 Tyville 22 17 0 5 2500 1826 +674 68
4 Ghindon 22 16 0 6 2415 1835 +580 64
5 Didgeham 22 13 0 9 2509 1660 +849 52
6 Lingham 22 13 0 9 2069 1943 +126 52
7 Rack City 22 11 0 11 2334 1918 +416 44
8 Byton 22 11 0 11 2222 1988 +234 44
9 Fental 22 6 0 16 1887 2509 −622 24
10 Timmertuck 22 6 0 16 1522 2717 −1195 24
11 Mortsey 22 2 0 20 1323 3012 −1689 8 Relegated
12 Alsbridge 22 1 0 21 1629 2996 −1367 4 Relegated

Obstyne retain their league title and ARFF spot, and Kanbury remain second. The big surprise is Didgeham being surpassed by Tyville and Ghindon, with the two time champoins reduced to mid table mediocrities. The two new teams once again fall to relegation in a brutal system, over the four seasons the only team to have survived is Timmertuck.
