Port Allansberry is capital of the Royal Kingdom, located on the Gulf of Deradund on the Carisbrooke Sea. It is a fortified, cold, perpetually storm-lashed city where it rains, snows, and otherwise storms for nine months out of the year - a rarity on Thulden, which has more temperature weather compared to Claradight.

The Old Quarter of the city dates to shortly after the city's founding in 1016 (the current year is 1922 AC), and is considered to have the richest history. Many key points in the Kingdom's history happened here: the signing of the articles of surrender to the Kingdom of Erindor in 1094, the Declaration of Lord Creldthen in 1235, the hanging of Lord Teyvalen in 1313, and the Declaration of Conformation and Unity in 1410, among others. It is a place of banners and old stone battlements, some crumbling and others well-maintained. The House of Assembly is located here, along with the key ministries and offices of government including the Royal Palace.

The New Quarter was established starting from 1235 onwards. Parts of it are cosmopolitan and urbane. Others reflect the influence of Erindorian architecture that came about as a result of the Great Exodus of 1573-1575. Originally it was home to low-class laborers and their families, but thanks to a steady influx of wealth and new factories that sprung up 'neath the shadow of the Old Quarter it has been transformed into an urbane, cosmopolitan area. Now it is a place of modern streetlights, theaters, opera houses, busy storefronts catering to the latest fashions and trends, and multi-story buildings (some 15 stories high) containing everything from department stores to fashionable living accommodations for the middle class.

Dockside is the center of the city's industrial might, both in terms of production and commerce from the heavy oceangoing ships that dock here to offload cargoes. Its founding date parallels the Old Quarter - 1016 - but unlike the Old Quarter it has never gained the historical prominence and significance of the other. It is generally regarded as an off-limits area by the well-to-do of society, with a heavy police presence and a reputation for drunken brawls and tough laborers fond of fighting each other and sailors from the docked merchant ships in equal measure.

Riverside is where the low class dwells, and lies outside the city's outer wall - an indication of social priorities in a booming Victorian-era society. There is little law and order presence here: the few patrols that enter are well-armed to the point where outsiders might consider them infantry companies. It is a dirty, run-down, area of beaten buildings and missing lights mixed with factories established by bolder - or more corrupt - merchants. The one bright spot is medical treatment. The street gangs that operate in Riverside have unspoken agreements with the clinics and doctors here - agreements which are hinted at only quietly by the upper classes, generally ignored, and never spoken of in polite company.
