That actually brought me back to Star Trek: DS9.

It had a war arc that spanned for several seasons.

I suppose you're right.

DS9 had dark tones? I never watched that series. Too much sitting around on a space station for me.

The series was more spiritual as opposed to the stark scientific focused series that Star Trek usually had.

They had two war arcs, If I recalled correctly.

One was between the Federation and the Klingons. (a shorter Federation-Klingon War arc)

And the other was the Federation, Klingons, the Romulans against the Dominion, the Cardassians, and the Breen. (the longer Dominion War arc)
