In this RP, you will be taking control of a nation that existed in the year 1875. Your job is to help that country survive through the turmoil that is world affairs. 1875 is marked with the greatest economic recession the world had seen so far, the Long Depression, ever since the Panic of '73, and it is your mission as head of your state to keep your citizens employed at the very least.

Although it is scarce acknowledged in the literature and the schools of thought of the period, it is becoming much clearer with deepening research into the events that had transpired that the timeline had been severely disrupted upon the toll of bells in Munich, Bavaria one midnight upon the dawn of MDCCCLXX anon 1870 Anno Domini.
After Bismarck's catastrophic failure in the War of Bavarian Subduction ended with an independent and united Kingdom of Southern Germany, a coalition of aligned nations directly (North German Confederation, Austro-Hungarian Monarchy, Southern German Kingdom, Khedivate of Egypt) or indirectly (United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, Ottoman Empire) engineered the downfall of Louis-Napoleon's Second French Empire and the subsequent Jules Favre's Third French Republic. Blanqui's French Commune in Paris and Thiers' Provisional Government in Tours fought for legitimacy over the shattered and impoverished realms following the fallout of the Franco-German War, culminating with an Orleanist restoration.
A bout of Spanish revival and imperialism in Morocco and Korea gains the envy of Britain and Austro-Hungary, who eye their extensive, yet faltering, dominions with avarice, most undoubtedly after the defeat of the Netherlands in a short war partitioned the East Indies among the two. While both compete for the favour of Siam, a new player in the form of an independent Egypt has usurped France's position in Indochina.
In South America, Argentina has risen as a regional power following the Conquest of Uruguay and the Paraguayan War where it stood against the imperial might of the United States of America. Emboldened by these successes, the Argentine Republic launched a series of false-flag operations against Western Powers, witnessing the Russian Empire's first documented case of power projection from across the Atlantic.
The Great Dragon remains in a stupor, too deep in a slumber to shake off increasing foreign intervention, though supplied with Egyptian firearms. As for Russia, it has not taken too kindly the Japanese annexation of Manchuria, and in response has taken Mongolia and installed puppets in Dzungaria and Kashgaria following the Xinjiang Uprising. This situation is shared by the Sick Man of Europe that is the Ottoman Empire, whose only draught so far has been amputating Egypt-Sudan, Albania, and Armenia.
Italy's increasing militarism and aggression on the Papal border elicits worry from the region. Portugal portrays utter lack of disregard of human life in the bombardment of the Zambezi Basin. France remains in shambles and anarchy following the Egyptian withdrawal and without Algeria, under Austrian hands. A violent landgrab was expected of the situation in Africa following British expansion in the Guinea and Portuguese incursions in East Africa. All these issues were dealt with in the Conference of Cairo.
As a result, the slave trade of Africa was deem unlawful and all signatories of the General Act of the Conference of Cairo, which also detailed the proper protocol at claiming land in the Dark Continent (that is, active occupation), were bound to cease the godless practice.
