The Arthuristan People's Navy's Central Ocean Task Force (COTF) completed its scheduled reshuffling today as the Courageous Class light carrier APNS Furious arrived at Alabaster, replacing the Vengeance Class ship APNS Vindictive. The 25 years old vessel is the flagship of a battle group which consists of a Daedalus Class Universal Combat Ship, three Type-44 class destroyers and a pair of Osiris Class attack submarines.

With the completion of this move, for the first time since the Ulthrannia War the People's Navy does not have a heavy fleet carrier in the Central Ocean. This, naturally, begs the question: will the current trend of withdrawing Arthuristan units from Itailia continue?

The land component of Arthuristan Forces Command - Itailia (AFCI) currently consists of the VIII Commonwealth Guards Corps, a formation with roughly four and a half divisions' worth of maneouvre forces plus other support elements. By contrast, an entire Army of 17 divisions fought on Itailian soil during the Ulthrannia War. APAF presence in Itailia has also been reduced over the preceding months to a single air group, with four combat squadrons of fighter-bombers, one of UAVs and a support squadron of transports, AWACs and C4I aircrafts.

While some may question the costs of maintaining Arthurista's continued military presence in Itailia, public opinion seems to remain significantly behind the Whittaker cabinet's position - this permanent overseas commitment of Arthuristan forces to a key strategic ally remains absolutely necessary, albeit options for further reductions may certainly be explored if certain are deemed to be redundant by the Ministry of Defence.

It remains to be seen, however, whether the trend will continue, given recent events. With Arthurista's application to join the CDI currently pending, the Prime Minister is certainly under pressure to be perceived as "pulling her own weight" in western Pardes. The rising tension between Rodarion and Itailia is also another factor to be taking into account. Considering the government's refusal to recognise the post-coup regime, the continued presence of Arthuristan forces in the area could be seen as a sign of disapproval against the new management at Romula, as well as a commitment to the security of its allies.

Kirkwall, Orlessia - Just before mid-afternoon today, newly elected Prime Minister James North has perhaps set down a road to break fifty decades of diplomatic isolation in the Kingdom of Orlessia. Prime Minister North convened a press conference at 7 Highgate and announced that he would be traveling to Oured, D.A. later today to discuss diplomatic relations with United Republics President Hayes.

The announcement comes on the heels of a quiet release that the Ministry of Defence's Gemini Project was approved by Parliament; the Project was designed last year when the Cook Scandal broke out which revealed the decaying state of the Navy and other armed force branches. Gemini Project called for a funding increase of five hundred billion dollars for the next half decade; a preliminary stage was approved last year so construction on new ships could begin but the final authorization came last week. The Ministry of Defence is rumored to be seeking to purchase a number of F-29 Super Vipers to replace Orlessia's own aging F-8 Warden fleet. The Wardens were introduced in 1991 as a 4.5 generation multi-role fighter, plans were originally to have it complemented by an air superiority fighter, but those plans never materialized. Tensions have been a bit snug between the United Republic and the High Kingdom due to the High Kingdom's history with the Papal Republic of Rodarion. Ever since the Liberal Party's rise to power in 1973, the Papal Republic was close allies with the High Kingdom, an alliance which was recently terminated last year just a day after Prime Minister James North guided the Conservative Party to it's first victory in nearly four decades. The Prime Minister's office has been adamant that it has no desire to maintain a "close and brotherhood like alliance" with the Papal Republic but the Papal Army does maintain a single joint-branch base on the Kingdom's territories, a base whose future and lease agreement are in the air following the Ministry of Defence's announcement of a full Ministry review this year to streamline funding expenditures.

Prime Minister North's trip is expected to take two days and while many speculate it is concerning military trade, a growing number of others are saying the Prime Minister is asking for President Hayes to intervene and diffuse the developing tensions in central Pardes between the CDI members and the Papal Republic, which was sparked following the Red Christmas bombings in Itailia and the governmental transition in Rodarion. Speech of the Western Secretary of State George McEnroe

(CCN) - Western President L.M. Shalom and her right hand Secretary of State G. McEnroe issued an official condemnation and warning to the Ulthranian Empire in the Rose Garden of the Presidential House, which was in response to the illegal occupation of Northern Seukutan by Ulthranian Armed Forces.

The controversial invasion has been reworded by the President as "an infringement of international law with an illegal military occupation of a sovereign internationally recognized country", and soon followed up with words such as "Immoral" and "unacceptable" by Secretary McEnroe.

The condemnation is also a result of Ulthranian alleged war crimes in Seukutan. The Intelligence Service Agency estimates a death toll of 4,000 civilians since the beginning of the invasion, which is an "atrocity", says the Western Secretary. The ISA reports that a majority of said civilians were killed directly or indirectly by the hands of Ulthranian forces, primarily during the bombing campaign. The Bruyner-led Christ's Liberation Army (CLA), however, is likewise subject to criticism of the Western government. The Western President compared Bruyner's CLA to "any other terrorist militia force within Pardes" and that Seukutan is listed as ‘rogue state’ because of militias such as the CLA.

The President was then followed up by a speech of the incumbent Secretary of State:
“By November 13th 2013, Ulthranian Armed Forces have infiltrated the internationally recognized borders of the Republic of Seukutan. This coincided with thousands of innocent civilian lives lost and the forceful displacement of many more. This is a crime against humanity, an atrocity on Pardesi soil. We would like to make clear to the Ulthranian Empire that the Western Confederal States as a whole does not recognize such a misplaced and immoral attack on Seukutii sovereign territory and its peoples and urges that the Ulthranian forces stop this brutal and relentless imperialist conquest. Or consequences will follow, as the Western Republic cannot condone this atrocious act.”

Attendant Paul Rogers, congressman and member of the Confederate Party and the Coffee Party Movement, is satisfied with the speech, "There was a scene of turmoil even before Ulthranian presence in Northern Seukutan, with warlords in every corner of the street. This, however, is an unprovoked and unprecedented attack on another nation's sovereign territory. I can't think of anything more innapropriate, and such a decisive stance of the government is exactly what we need."

On the other side of the political spectrum, many, in the Unionist Party, are skeptical on the approach, viewing the speech of their Unionist President as an act of "betrayal" and "'warmongering", emphasizing that the speech was "out of line with non-interventionism, a policy that the Unionist Party has championed for decades." The notion is shared by members of the independent Watchtower Group (WG).

"Aggression is not a way to cease the current situation in Seukutan. The parties involved are associated with terrorist militias, maybe so. But the security of the Western State is not in any way at stake.” Said one of the activists during a rally of the WG in Franklin.

Cardinal Secretary of State slams Itailia

The Cardinal Secretary of State, Remus Draganescu launched a full scale verbal assault against the 'Angelik Commission' and the Itailian Government, this comes minutes after the commission into 'red christmas' found a Rodarian national guilty of training Pagan terrorists, to aid them in their genocide against the Catholic Minority. Anger has exploded across the Papal Republic in response to the findings, with 11 Anti-Itailia Rallies planned for tomorrow. The Sacred College of Cardinals has urged its Itailian members to not return to their homeland and vow to never contact the 'apostate regime in Ebonaevron again', 38 of the 258 Cardinals are Itailian and all have agreed to cut ties with the Itailian state. The Ecclesiastical Security Commission chairman and State President, Field Marshal Ionatan Codreanu is expected to give a statement later today in response to the blatant propaganda move by Ebonaevron. Deputy State President Atticus Flavescu has commented.

The Deputy State President and Head of the Papal Defence Corps had this to say, "I find the commission's finding, humerous, do they really expect the world to believe that a Rodarian national, would assist in the genocide of his fellow Christians? They are desperate to cover their own failings up as quickly as possible, so they create this poorly devised lie and this disgusting accusation, which not only insults Christendom as a whole, but spits upon the deadl; evil, evil, evil, that is Itailia".

Cardinal Secretary of State Draganescu, had this to say at his daily news conference, "The recently announced findings of the Angelik Commission are poor, incindiary and insulting and blatantly poor efforts by the Itailian government to pass the blame onto a different institution, to cover themselves up. Their efforts to save themselves from punishment due to their genocide, has produced a poor result, which looks more like a political thriller movie plotline, than the official findings of an independent legal investigation.

The truth is, we asked that they allow an OPA investigation to take place, they said no and they have produced this shockingly poor propaganda piece, it is an insult to the murdered, but that is the contempt the Itailian government has for Catholics; butcher them, then insult them further by denying them justice. I can announce that we have sethered all ties with the Itailian Empire, their embassy has been shut down and all former diplomatic, cultural or social ties have also been cut.

I ask Pardesi nations, who have a respect for common sense and intelligence to not possibly fall for this poorly devised and ill-thought out deception. There is no evidence, none whatsoever to support these claims. What we can all see above all else, is the fact that the Itailian government is attempting to hide its own guilt by passing it on to others, a sad day for justice, a sad day for 500,000 murder victims".

Orlessia may face issues with PRR

The High Kingdom of Orlessia may face an official complaint from the Papal Government over it's decision to build closer ties with the United Republic, concerns rose after it became clear that the High Kingdom is moving towards formalising a major military trade deal for F-29 fighter aircraft. Major concerns appeared, when discussions over the Rodarian military base being leased may lead to a request of withdrawal. The MoDaHS has commented saying, "Any decision regarding the base in Orlessia, will be a serious issue for the Papal Republic, It would be wise to remind the Orlessians that the lease contract has 5 years remaining and the contract is a binding legal document. We would also advise the High Kingdom to avoid damaging our close relationship".

The Ministry of Commerce has stated that it may move to reduce the levels of natural gas exports to the High Kingdom should they develop close ties to the CDI memberstate. They gave a short statement, "We may reduce exports of natural gas to the High Kingdom, should they develop ties, they should therefore import this vital resource for them, from the United Republic".

In a seperate development, the Papal Army stated that a further 300 men are to be transported to the military base in Orlessia for mountain combat training, Orlessia has offered the Papal Republic excellent mountain combat training services for decades and is a valuable asset to the Papal Army. In further developments, the Papal Republic has extended it's support for the Western Confederation over it's condemnation of the Ulthrannic Occupation of North Seukutan, the Interior Ministry has also reported that nearly 500 Orducii fighters are currently in North Seukutan who travelled to South Seukutan voluntarily and have vowed to fight to the death to 'free North Seukutan from the oppression of the heathen Ulthrannic King".

Konigwafen, Havenwalde The Ministry of Defense has announced that it plans to invest more in Emmerian firearms. The current Bundeswehr has already incorporated one Emmerian firearm into active service, the X98 assault rifle was brought several months ago by the Ministry of defense. The rifle has received many good reviews of the rifle and is said that the X98 will be in service for the for seeable future. Minister Wilhelm Hosch of the Defense Ministry plans for the purchase of other Emmerian weapons that could be put into service with the Bundeswehr.

Sussex, TIPPERCOMMON (MP) — It was announced today by the Board of Defense today that it has approved a multi-trillion dollar arms deal between Armax Defense International — the premier defense manufacturer of the Sussex Group Conglomerate — and United Republic and Itailia. This deal has come about about recently with the heightened aggression displayed by the Rodarian government since the "Red Christmas" massacre. The Chief Officer of the Board, Admiral Justin Griffin, announced during a press conference this morning that after much deliberation, the BoD had decided to let the Sussex Group go ahead with what may be the largest international defense contract in Meritocracy history.

While the specific details of the deal have not been made entirely public yet, the Board of Defense has announced that it will be provided the United Republic of Emmeria with aircraft launched ordnance compatible with their new stealth fighter technology; the result of a competitive bid that was carried out behind closed doors about six months ago. However, the main announcement of the press conference was an increase in defense production under a new contract with the Itailian government, "... several trillion dollars." However, reports from the Board of Commerce have stated that the Sussex Group Corps of Constables has received additional resources over the next six months. A private military company drawn from retired special forces operators and law enforcement, the Corps of Constables handles all trade missions carried out by the Tippercommon. Their increased presence during the shipment of Itailia's cargo can only mean that it is packing substantial military hardware.

This defense deal may foreshadow a future conflict in Itailia. It was only 11 days ago that the Chief Minister ordered the rapid mobilization of naval and marine forces in response to the massacre of December 7th. Further, with tensions growing between Rodarion and Itailia, and both sides beefing up their anti-air defenses, armed conflict has never seemed more probably. It was later reported by an MP source stationed with the Meritocracy Naval Flotilla that some 17 ships from the Fifth Fleet hauling a complement of 10,000 Lance Guard Marines has been stationed in an undisclosed staging area in the Central Ocean. This was met by a fierce response by House Libertarians, who denounced this movement of military forces as an act of aggression and a power bid by the Parliamentarian Party. This arms deal, while injecting an untold fortune into the Tippercommon private sector, has met just as much animosity from both Houses of Parliament, with many representatives questioning why they were not consulted before engaging in a trade deal of this magnitude.

Others in Parliament have stated that this deal is another bid to appease the Sussex Group. A conglomerate of some 450 subsidiary firms, the Sussex Group monopolizes most major industries in the Meritocracy, most notably finance and defense. For the past five years, the Libertarian Society Party has made attempts to minimize the power of the Sussex Group through "monopoly-busting legislation," but thus far, none of these laws have passed. By handing such a large contract over the Sussex Group alone, House Libertarians may never see the downfall of the Sussex Group.

Now, the Tippercommon military has been put on high alert. The Second Fleet has been recalled from training exercises in the Victorian Ocean to Tippercommon, and the Third Fleet has been mobilized to, "escort sensitive Merchant Marine shipments." Four Marine Brigades have been summoned to the capital of Sussex from their usual Christmas leave and, according to our source embedded with the 2nd Regimental Combat Team, are waiting for the Second Fleet to dock. This arms deal may just be an early sign for things to come.

YOSHIWA CITY - Today, a Yoshiwan Task Force has been dispatched and is currently enroute to the Gulf of Akkadiya to strengthen Western military presence there, says Western Secretary of Defense Ian Rogers in light of the condemnation of Ulthrannia.

The Department of Defense assured that the strike group will commence operations in close cooperation and coordination of the House of Virtus Omnibus (housing the Defense Department), the commander-in-chief (President Shalom) and allied Mideastern nations. While staying away from territorial waters and respecting international law.

The Yoshiwan vested Bahamara Naval Base expressed joy and pride today as the family members and other relatives of the naval forces said their final goodbye and waved with their miniature 7-stars, Yoshiwan flags and occasional religious flags displaying the David star and the Christian cross. They were watching and waving from the moment the marines boarded the ship until the vessels were out of sight. Tears were shared in the end, but according to many fathers, mothers, sons and daughters, they are proud of their navy men.

The strike group is consistent of many bulky and versatile naval assets of the Western Navy such as the Karzelek-Class destroyer and the Sword-class cruiser topped with the WRS Ipenhoff, an Ark Royal-class super carrier.

During the speech of the President two days ago she said; “Our mission is to enforce peace throughout the Middle-east, we have agreed on such. Must the Ulthrannian military continue its relentless attack on innocent Seukutii civilians, then we face no other option but to step in militarily.” This is clearly a response to such action and the doctrine of the Western navy includes the preparation of naval forces necessary for the effective prosecution of war, if such is indeed necessary.

Girl Band arrested for Un-Christian Behaviour

Four women have been arrested after they broke into a Chapel on the Saint Mihai Cathedral complex, where they sang insulting songs against the Pope and the Papal government in general. The group whose name is too disgraceful to state on this publication, decided to break into the Chapel, along with a cameraman and begin sining their lurid songs, this was done whilst the cameraman was streaming the footage onto the internet, where they broke the Online Faith Behavioural Laws, as they distributed the footage through an illegal website. It is estimated that nearly 30 million people have viewed the footage of their blasphemous act, they were apprehended by the Sisters of the Saint Mihai Cathedral, Romula Police arrived and officially arrested them. When the Nuns confronted them, one of the singers assaulted one of the Nuns, the 73 year old Sister suffered a broken nose.

The group were originally a turbo-folk group that sang songs accepted by the Ministry of Christian Culture, they were highly popular till three weeks ago when they began to sing songs live to concerts that were lurid and unacceptable to Rodarian society. They were fined Le1.5 million for their actions, of which they paid. However their rebellious streak escalated following the 9 December Coup D'etat, when they uploaded a song onto Youtube, which had sinful references to the sexual lives of the Ecclesiastical Security Commission members and even insulted the Holy Father by accusing him of engaging in oral sex with the State President. The video was removed by the MoCC within 30 minutes and a warrant for their arrest was distributed to Romula Police, however they had left their shared home and the Police struggled to find them. The Police searched for them over two days, until today they surfaced in the Saint Serafim Chapel.

According to their statements made to the police, they jumped over the wall of the Saint Mihai Cathedral garden and then smashed open the door to the small chapel, where they then began their criminal activity. It would also be unsavoury for me to print some of the words used in the song, but it involved disgusting references to intercourse, whorish behaviour and sickening connations of the lives of clergy members. The Nuns were alerted by the sounds coming from the Chapel, six of them grouped together and went into the chapel, where they then confronted the group. They succeeded in forcing the cameraman out, but when they confronted the singers themselves, they were met with verbal abuse, one Sister was punched in the face, by the leader singer Yulia Hasrescu. The Nuns then managed to force the singers into a side room, where they were then locked in. The police arrived within 5 minutes and they were arrested.

All four were put before a Papal Tribunal at midday and have been sentenced to 10 years imprisonment at Oredea Repentance Camp, they will not be given any chance of parole. More details of the interrogation and the sentencing will be released shortly, one commentator stated that the descision to sentence them to 10 years in Oredea is nothing short of a death sentence, the rather blunt statement comes months after a 'former Oradea guard' released details of the conditions and purpose of the Repentance Camps, however his statement was found to be false and ficitional by the Foreign Ministry.

HU foreign minister, Mitalref Lraga spoke out today on behalf of Central Government, condemming the Western Confederacies recent stance and action direct against Seukutan and Ulthrannia, decrying it a blatantly irresponsible warmongering.

The Ulthranni invasion has been met with disapproval by some states in Western Pardes. However few but the Western Confederacy have spoken outright of intervention. Minister Mitalref reiterated that while definitely unfortunate the Union sees no need to intervene stating that “in our eyes, while the war is an unfortunate event, given the circumstances and the fact of Seukuti negligence regarding the militants in the north, the cross border raid has given the Ulthrannian government a justifiably correct casus belli, despite the Seukuti government protest and their active engagement of Ulthrannian forces in the north, we feel they (Ulthrannia) have been left with very few other options.”

The central government has made some calls for a diplomatic solution between the Seukuti government and Ulthrannia for a ceasefire and joint operations to remove the Christian Liberation Army as a threat. However there have been no further statements regarding the processes and is presumed not to be discussed yet. The central government however has made it clear they are concerned regarding the continued instability in Seukutan and any possible long term consequences to the Autonomous State of Tehraani and North Ulthrannia. Any destabilizing intervention by foreign powers in the conflict shall be regarded with contempt towards offending states, according to the foreign minister.

Despide these statements, there has been very little in the way of military movement in Tehraani or the naval bases in Mardullah. It isn't mention whether or not the Unified Armed Forces will interfere directly in the conflict and given the fact that the HU is currently at war with Armavira, there generally seems little interest opening a second war front on the other side of the region.

Pope Pius III's christmas eve mass

His Holiness the Pope has delivered his annual address at the Christmas Eve Mass at the Vatican, he spoke before his Cardinals, Bishops, Priests and invited guests, with this message being one of "finding God's light, in dark places". He urged Catholics across Pardes and world, who are suffering under the pains of oppression, destitution, tyranny and war, to continue having their hearts open to the Lord and to remember that they are never alone, as the Lord cares for all. He urged those Catholics not living in such conditions to open their hearts not just to the Lord, but to the Catholics living in those conditions, to feel their pain and suffering and push for their salvation. He also wished other denominations of Christianity a christmas message, he asked them to be warm and loyal to the lord, so that all of Christendom could strive together.

Pius has dedicated much of last year drawing attention to the plight of the poor, of children, and christians suffering oppression and desperate situations around Pardes, especially southern Itailia, Armavira and Seukutan.

He noted that the first to receive news of Jesus' birth were shepherds, who in society were considered "among the last, the outcast." He also noted, "We were taught to forgive our enemies, we may do so when we end the troubles that face all of God's flock".

His Holiness, walked briskly up the main aisle of the basilica for the ceremony, which began Tuesday 2 ½ hours before midnight. Keeping with the theme of traditionalism he has set for his papacy in 2005, the Holy Father proceeded towards the altar as he did so, he uttered prayers, and kissed a knee of the figure of the newly born Jesus.

The first hour of the ceremony was covered by choir led hymns and prayer, the final hour and a half was covered by the Pope's speech and a speech by the Cardinal Secretary of State, Remus Draganescu. Speaking to the crowd, the Holy Father urged the flock of God to be one of 'unity, compassion and cooperation'. He also said, "Jesus is the light that brightens darkness, the light that leads us out of troubles, leads us away from temptation and sin, the light that guides us towards salvation".

He went on to say, "For all Christians, we live in either light or darkness, be it enforced or our own doing. We either live through compassion, friendship and love for god, or deceipt, selfishness and vanity, we either live through freedom, liberty, security and the ability to work and practice our faith, or we live in war, oppression, tyranny and sectarianism, but the common solution is opening our hearts to God and accepting the light that will guide us towards salvation and heaven".

He also added, "there are those, who are not allowed to accept God's light because they are forced to live in fear and abysmal violence, simply because they are Christian. This is not the world, the lord wished us to spread his gospel in, and I pray for guidance everyday, I pray for the oppressed, dispossed and violated, I ask that we all pray for these poor souls, so that they may the find light and accept it and follow it towards salvation and safety".

His message was also aimed at the Christian population of the Western Confederation, "do not give way to media tricks, hear your heart's call and listen to the Lord, stand firm with the Lord, keep your hearts open and accept the Lord as the guiding light, stand firm within Christendom and hear the cries of your fellow Christians, hear their cries for help and charity, hear their calls for protection, because only together can we protect God's gospel and Christ's sacrifice for our sins, live in the light of the Lord, and help others live in the same light". He concluded "The message of Christmas is a message of peace, love and brotherhood. We have to be brothers with each other".

Tomorrow the Pope will address the world with his christmas day message, that will take place at mid-day.

Oured, D.A., UNITED REPUBLIC (UP) — The Space Technologies and Research agency, STAR, released a statement on its website announcing the loss of an atmospheric research plane over southwestern Itailia earlier today.

"During a standard atmospheric research mission over southwestern Itailia, contact with an atmospheric research plane was lost," the statement read. "While a search for its remains is under way, any information on its whereabouts should be reported to the STAR Emergency Hotline at 1-800-392-1993. Please remember that tampering with or stealing anything from the wreckage constitutes theft of federal property and is punishable by U.R. federal law."

A STAR spokesman confirmed the statement. "The aircraft was unmanned and the pilot lost control of it while it was in the air," he told reporters during a press conference. "We are currently investigating the cause of the issue, but the most likely scenario is merely a computer glitch."

When prompted for a name or image of the aircraft, the spokesman declined. "I unfortunately do not have that information, but I'm sure it will be released in due time as deemed necessary for the investigation."

STAR is the civilian space exploration and aerospace research branch of the United Republic federal government. Although pioneering government-led advances and wielding a massive budget during the mid to late 1900s, STAR has been victim of massive budget cuts and has increasingly invested in privatized space exploration and research during the last few years. However, it maintains a fleet of research aircraft that regularly fly missions in support of aerospace research.

Federal Cabinet Election Results

National Democratic Union take the majority again.

Betschstadt, Havenwalde Early this morning the Federal Cabinet elections were concluded and the results were released to the public this afternoon. The National Democratic Union has once again gained the majority in the Federal Cabinet with half of the Ministers are of N.D.U affiliation with the other ministers being of S.D.A and the D.S.F affiliation. Wilhelm Kluge the current Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Havenwalde who is the chairman of the N.D.U will soon be beginning his campaign for re-election in the next Federal Chancellery elections which are set for sometime in the new year. The National Democratic Union have also remained the majority in the Bundesrat gaining even a few more seats from their main opposition the Social Democratic Alliance, who have had a rocky ending to 2013 even loosing seats to the Democratic Socialist Front. The S.D.A's public speaker has also been involved in a prostitution scandal which is currently being investigated by the Federal Criminal Investigation Agency.

Although with the majority of Ministers being of N.D.U affiliation the Federal Ministry of foreign affairs has changed hands with a land slide victory to S.D.A member Guido Westerwelle who beat out the former minister Joachim Stuart who held the position of foreign affairs for five years. Guido Westerwelle has said "I plan on changing the Foreign Policy for a better Havenwalde, consolidating our true allies", Minister Westerwelle will address the media later this week to talk of his plans for foreign relations with nations such as Tehraan, Emmeria and Estovakiva. Other ministries that changed hands were the Ministry of Economics & Finance, Ministry of Transportation, Ministry of Labor.

The Chancellery election canidates to face off against Chancellor Kluge are S.D.A chairman Karl Rittertroph, D.S.F chairman Gerald Kaiser. Debates between the canidates will begin two weeks into January and once those have concluded votes for who should face the Chancellor in the elections will be announced by February. The Chancellery elections will be held somewhere in March.

Talwall, DEMOCRATIC UNION - Following the finalization of the long-awaited signing into NOCTUR, the President's return from Itailia has also had the rather unexpected result of a signalling of Erucia's military growth.

The NOCTUR talks, which had initially begun in late November, had been placed on hiatus following a terror attack on Thanksgiving Day. The attack, which had initially begun as a deal between independent members of the Tippercommon Sussex Corporation selling chemical weapons to Emmerian Terrorists, spilled over into the southern state of Avalon, where the Sussex independents were subsequently shot down by Emmerian and Erucian fighters after attempting an escape on multiple helicopters. The fighting occurred largely within the town of Blackden, in which local law enforcement and Avalon National Guard fought against the would-be invader, although the large portion of the helicopters were shot down some 17 kilometers from the southern border.

The fighting had subsequently resulted in the deaths of several Sussex and Emmerian terrorists, as well as the death of a single Avalon Army National Guardsman due to the release of chemical weapons at the second crash site and the injury of countless more on several sides. The current investigation into the independent cell by Emmerian, Erucian and Sussex authorities is still ongoing.

Upon the President and Secretary of State's return to Itailia amidst criticism from Conservative Party members in early December, the NOCTUR talks were again paused during the Red Christmas Bombings that killed the Itailian Archbishop as well as what is believed to be around 550,000 Itailian Catholics. The President and his entourage was again flown out of the country for several days, and returned in mid-December.

However, through the cancellation of the traditional Presidential holiday for Christmas week, the President and Secretary of State officially signed the treaty alongside of the Imperial Caesar and Archon earlier on Christmas Eve, bringing all of the Democratic Union the Christmas gift of entry into the Northern Co-Operative Trade Agreement: along with it, what is called by supporters entry into a new era of economic prosperity.

"With entry into NOCTUR, Erucians can be expecting to see greater economic improvements and changes in their daily lives," noted economist Marissa Lambert, who had earlier been a supporter of joining the organization. "Not only will we have greater trade with important nations such as the United Republic and Itailia, but local manufacturers can expect to see their markets widen out." And already, this is proving to be true: several DU companies are reporting that they're setting their sights on the wider international markets, and shareholders are seeing the benefits.

However, the entry into NOCTUR has also brought one more thing to the Democratic Union: two new naval fleets. Courtesy of the Caeser himself, the DU's entry into NOCTUR also has brought it two entire carrier fleets worth of additional vessels, which had only recently been completely built in Itailian shipyards. Amongst these are two brand new Ark Royal class supercarriers, three Mairne-class Hospital ships, and countless different support ships for the two carrier fleets. The cost for all of this?

"Our Itailian allies have been so gracious to grant these new ships free-of-charge, although it would be improper of us to simply walk away with the reward," President Tao Wong reported in his press conference earlier today. "We will pledge our support to the Twin Amanitte Empire, economically, militarily, and humanitarian-wise."

The sudden and rather unbelievable arrival of the new naval vessels has sparked new-found support for the Wong Administration, which had been criticized earlier this month for failing to provide adequate military protection along the border, despite the official SHEANAM report on the Thanksgiving Incident stating: "No harm has been found on the part of the Democratic Union Air Force nor its controllers. Rather, this committee finds that the military response to the Sussex incursion was fast-paced and as well timed as possible."

With the new fleet's granting, the SHEANAM now hopes that the Erucian populace will see that the military is doing all it can to prepare for future military incidents. "The Navy has gone on a recruitment run to simply staff the new vessels," SHEANAM spokesperson Ulysses Thompson stated during a congruent conference yesterday, on the 26'th. "Overarching DU military power is bound to increase, and with entry into NOCTUR, the required revenue to support financing the new vessels will not be an issue. We will need all we can get, after all, considering the recent tensions in the region."

Despite winning over much of the criticizing elements of the Conservative Party over with the show that the government is serious about maintaining military strength in the wake of the recent flares of potential conflict, more hardline groups members are still citing the cost of the new fleet and the inability of the new ships to address the primary problem. "Even if we can somehow pull the funding for these new ships out without increasing the deficit or increasing the tax rate, they're still not addressing the root of the problem," Daniel Brown (C-AV) answered to WCN. "These new ships won't help with quick response to military attacks, considering the crews will take at the very least several months to train. The Administration and the SHEANAM should be looking into fast-responses to foreign aggression."

I don't care if we got this new dual-fleet for absolutely nothing in the short term, it's utterly useless and detracts from our military strength. We still need to train the crews, fund the munitions, fund the planes and their repairs, fund the ships, etc.: a matter that will take ages of meddling to take care of. What's the benefit right now, when we really need it?

Papal Air Force downs Emmerian Drone through electronic warfare

Behold, the Emmerian spy drone sent to discover our nation's defences

A captured Emmerian drone has been put on show before the Gates of Saint Peter monument in the city of Oradea. The drone which was captured on Christmas Eve, was brought down safely after the Papal Air Force Cyber Warfare Unit, known as Unit 330, siezed control of the aircraft through electronic means. The drone was brought down some 30km north of Oradea, after it entered Rodarian airspace from the Western Confederation. The Papal Air Force detected the drone at 3.22am on the 24th, 15 minutes later Unit 330 based outside Oradea moved swiftly, to bring down the drone, through it's extensive abilities in the use of electronic warfare. The Papal Air Force succeeded in assuming control of the drone and managed to bring it down safely in a field outside the city. Papal Army units were immediately dispatched to the secure the drone.

The unmanned aerial vehicle was then transported to a Papal Air Force facility north of Oradea where its navigational computer was taken and accessed. It became clear that the drone was set to fly over areas around the border with the Western Confederation and then south-eastward, along Rodarion's border with Itailia. It's position and route would have seen the drone cover various installations and facilities tasked with defending the Papal Republic against CDI adventurism, Pagan Extremism and Western Imperialism.

The Ministry of Defence and Homeland Security confirmed that the drone would be put on public display at the Oradea Military Air Museum, for the a single day where it was presented publically in Oradea, it will remain until Tuesday and then be passed onto TETRU Defence for reverse engineering. Over 2,000 people qued up and to see the aircraft, the drone has proved so popular, that an entire exhibition section had been opened for the drone. Donation boxes had been placed in the large room, asking that people offer donations to further fun Unit 330, to help protect the Papal Republic from spy drones.

The State President gave a swift address regarding the incident and caputre of the drone. Speaking to several reporters outside Sister Augustia Hospital, following the birth of his first grandchild, he said, "The incident of the 24th, is testament not only to our readiness to meet this incursions of our sovereign airspace, but also our capabilities in advanced use of electronic warfare, it will god willing send a message to the Emmerians and their CDI lackeys that the Papal Republic has the means to bring down their most treasured spy assets, they will also know that we will protect our airspace from aggressive incursions".

The six men of Unit 330 are to be rewarded the Gold Cross, the second most treasured medal for members of the Papal Air Force.

Left-wing Critics Slam Conservative President For Recent A.C.A. Foreign Policy Legacy

PROVISA, New Belhavia — In an end-of-year press conference this afternoon, President Eli Goldman urged Pardesi powers to "take a pause in the acrimonious rhetoric" and "understand the consequences for further escalation" for both sides. He condemned the Rodarion seizure of an Emmerian drone, calling it "needlessly provocative" and "bellicose." President Goldman cautioned the ruling military junta in Rodarion, which has called itself the Ecclesiastical Security Commission after the coup d'etat that saw the severe restriction of powers of the Rodarian elected government earlier this month, that "adopting a siege mentality and engaging in petty tit-for-tat is unbecoming of a responsible geopolitical actor and legitimate nation-state." He concluded firmly, vowing in a conciliatory tone that "the answer for restored harmony and freedom for all is for all governments involved in this escalation to dial back the provocations."

Critics Pounce On, Supporters Rally Towards the President's Remarks

Critics in numerous left-wing blogs, on Twitter, and in some quarters of the opposition Liberal Democrats slammed Mr. Goldman's remarks as hypocritical and arrogant considering the Imperial government's so-called "belligerent" A.C.A. foreign policy legacy barely six months ago.

"This is the same president who eagerly signed [New Belhavia] up in the Anti-Communism Alliance," scoffed Lib Dem Minority Leader John Fellan (LD-Merrina). "The A.C.A. was a crypto-fascist military league chock full of international pariahs, repressive autocracies, and bad actors. Before he meddles in other nations' affairs, [President] Goldman would do well to remember his own failed foreign policy."

Professor James Harken, adjutant professor of political science at Freeport Provincial University and noted antiwar activist, opined that "[President] Goldman's comments are long in a line of hypocritical neoconservative equivocating that emphasizes war as the antidote to tyranny abroad yet just six months ago had our nation involved in the greatest threat to world peace in years. The A.C.A. debacle has discredited the Empire's ability to critique other countries' actions."

Meanwhile, the Provisa establishment lined up to defend the President, offering a series of positive statements echoing his remarks and condemning critics on the left.

"These same far left radicals assert that simply surrendering our active involvement abroad and gutting our military would somehow solve global and regional conflict," Senate Major Leader Ian Settas (C-Provisa) retorted forcefully. The youthful 35-year-old leader of the Imperial Senate, the son of former President Julian Settas whose presidency ushered in the near-complete electoral dominance of the ruling Conservatives ever since 1980, is eyed as a likely 2016 presidential contender and has upped his public profile in recent months. "The policies of these same hypocrites on the left would lead to a disastrous neo-isolationist foreign policy of failure, retreat, and defeat. President Goldman is exercising the right tone to lower tensions in Pardes."

Sam Waterson, a regional security consultant at the Sam Rohr International Relations Policy Center and noted neoconservative thinker, argued that "President Goldman did the right thing...no one wants escalating conflict in Pardes, and he adopted the right tone in his comments." Pivoting to leftist critics, Mr. Waterson replied, "[Lib Dem Minority Leader] John Fellan is just another out-of-touch Merrina liberal who leads a lackluster and marginal opposition party caucus in the [Imperial] Senate. John Fellan wants us to head back to the Richard Novian era in the 1970s when the ruling Lib Dems led us to a weak defense, humiliation abroad, and almost made us the laughingstock of Pardes. The Imperial citizenry have wisely elected Conservative administrations to prevent that from ever happening again." Mr. Waterson noted that Mr. Settas led what the Provisa establishment called the "foreign policy pivot" that saved New Belhavia any undue embarrassment from the dissolution of the A.C.A. last June and salvaged the Goldman Administration's - and the ruling Conservative Party's - credibility among the general public.

Hitting President Goldman from the far-right, embattled Senator James Gulden (C-Raffen), a vocal and controversial A.C.A. stalwart who has advocated a return of the defunct global anticommunist alliance, sent out a press release calling on "President Goldman to stand up to the arrogant white knight liberal CDI powers and stand by the Papal Republic in its hour of need. We must support Rodarian efforts to combat the scourge of secular leftism - communism, socialism, and social democracy - wherever it spreads its filthy tentacles." Mr. Gulden, a Catholic himself, is one of only a handful of prominent pro-Rodarion public officials.

Economic Ramifications Echo From Escalating Rodar-CDI, Seukutan Tensions

"The Belhavian economy is powered by pharmaceuticals, commodities, information technology, military technology, and consumer household goods," noted market analyst Frank Olfsen with prominent market magazine Business Daily said, "With smaller but still potent oil & gas and mining sectors. Any escalaton in the ongoing Rodar-CDI tensions will spook markets even further, causing economic instability as the [Provisa Stock Exchange] and other indices across Pardes fluctuate dangerously."

"The President's remarks helped soothe jittery investors and traders," he continued to say, pointing to a spike in the P.S.E. after Mr. Goldman's press conference.

New Belhavia has strong economic ties to the whole of Western Pardes, with large markets for exports to the United Republic of Emmeria, the Western Confederation, Republic of Erucia, the Itailian Empire, and the Kingdom of Belfras. Itailia, in particularly, is a massive importer of Belhavian Information Technology products such as computers and electronic equipment.

"Any disruption in trade and shipping in any potential Rodar-Itailian conflict," Mr. Olfsen warned darkly, "would cause chaos in the I.T. exports market."

Ulthrannia, in Northern Pardes, is a major importer of the Empire's extraction and refinement of natural resources and demand could change suddenly depending on the change of geopolitical winds over Seukutan. Any adverse action against the Western Confederation, which has a "special relationship" with the Empire and important economic and political ties, could cause markets to panic and spark a crash in the commodities market.

A spokesman for the Presidential Palace replied to an inquiry, saying that "the President is keeping a close eye on the situation in Seukutan, and because of Belhavian interests in the area, and with the two major actors involved, is urging that both sides act with caution and deliberation."

Social Democratic Alliance Urge Progressive Reforms.

Chairman Sigmar Gabriel addresses supporters on 'reforming the Capitalist regime'

Storbeckshof, Havenwalde This afternoon chairman Sigmar Gabriel of the Social Democratic Alliance met at a rally for his party supporters in Storbeckshof where he made a speech on desperately needed reforms in the economy. In Sigmar's speech he single handedly blamed the National Democratic Union and it's chairman for the economic problems in Havenwalde. He named several companies mostly that work for the tourism industry and the lumbering industry that their taxes needed to be increased and that they were 'Corrupt corporatists out to take over the economy'. In this particular part of his speech he goes on about the small social welfare programs,

"It is evident in the Federal Republic that social welfare programs are not getting the money they deserve. These programs are the only way those that cannot support themselves or their families can have a place to start from in getting a job."

Sigmar went on later to question capital gains made by investors in the stock market, having this to say about Federal Republic investors,

"Capital gains in this country are horrendous, these investors are given free reign to get free money coming from our people. It is only fair that taxes be raised on capital gains so that money can go back into the state for the betterment of the people"

Robin Frohwein a political professor in Betchstadt University commented that "While the Social Democrats do have a point, the economy of the Federal Republic is in no dire danger, although in the future that may change."

Chairman Gabriel also called for protective tariffs against the Tarsan Empire and the Papal Republic, which only the Papal Republic has only received condemnation for the HU embassy bombings and a no travel law in place for Rodarions wanting to travel to the Federal Republic. The Tarsans that inhabit the Northern continent which are under a oppressive theocratic dictatorship have been 'overlooked' by the Federal Republic and that action should be taken. Chancellor Kluge has stated in the past that any country under a any oppressive regime will be subject to immediate sanctions and other measures of punishment but that has not occurred yet with Tarsas.

Major Parties in Bundesrat call for Abolishment of Federal Cabinet Elections and term extention

The National Democratic Union and Social Democratic Alliance parties have over the week issued complaints against Federal Cabinet elections that occur before Chancellor elections every four years. Thomas Kistner a NDU member commented on the elections with,

"These cabinet ministries are useless, they cause an extreme amount of money and a drop in voter turn out for these elections. They are also right before the chancellery elections which are also expensive. This needs to be abolished quickly."

The Bundesrat has called for a session to vote on weather to keep or abolish the law, although it is predicted that the elections will be abolished in favor for high voter turn out and less expenditures. A session has also been called in the Bundestag for a session on the possibility to increase the length of years that a chancellor will have in a single term. It is expected that six years will mostly be the most popular length of term in the session. Once the session In the Bundestag has concluded it will be taken to the Bundesrat for a vote.

State President announces anti-corruption campaign

State President Ionatan Codreanu has announced to a crowd of over 100,000 that the Eccelesiastical Security Commission has begun a nationwide anti-corruption campaign, that is to clense the country of criminals, be they 'ravens or worms', revealing that the campaign will reach the highest levels of government and the Church to the lowest of both. It has also been revealed that members of the Papal Armed Forces will also be victim to the campaign, which will 'show no mercy, to those who abuse trust and the mandate given by God almighty and the mighty people of this country to govern, to lead and to protect'.

According to the State President's speech and initial reports of arrests, shows that not only the ESC, but the Church also is engaged in a dual operation to clean house. According to some reports, 38 members of the National Police Command have been arrested, 21 priests at the Vatican, one of the Pope's personal assistants and 11 MPs have already been arrested. No names have been given, and will be restricted from publication until they are put before a Papal Tribunal. It is estimated that the initial arrests has seen the return of over $111 million in public funds and one of the arrested had in his possession a $5.6 million painting by the Rodarian artist Voltescu. The Ministry of Finance and Economics has stated that an estimated $22.3 billion is locked away due to corruption, quality in law enforcement and healthcare has been deeply effected by the level of corruption, infecting Rodarian society.

The Curia has refused to comment on how corruption is effecting the Mother Church, yet outside estimates have put it at around $67.57 billion of Church funds have been stolen by members of the clergy. The Curia did state however, that its own anti-corruption campaign has been tasked with dealing with those of the Cardinalate right down to the rural dioceses, monestries and sisterhoods. The Curia even went so far as to state, that the Holy Father had ordered a 'cull of damaged souls', they reported that 300 clergymen had been executed on cases of child abuse and gross misconduct.

Kadan Dedovici, a professor for the Rodarian Governance and Security Think Tank, gave this view to KR1 News this afternoon, "it would seem that the following the successes of the ESC government, such as the downing of both Emmerian and Belfrasian drones, the staunch opposition to the Itailian lies over the Red Christmas Bombings, they have then moved to clense the Rodarian state of corruption, it has also been noted that reversals to the reformist behaviour of the dishonoured Alexandrescu government has proved highly popular, I would not be suprised to see the ESC be the most popular government, in over 20 years". Polls since the rally by the State President, have shown a 22% increase in support, to 81% of the Rodarian population. The announcement of the campaign and the new path the ESC will take to social issues has proved highly popular and has been a major success for the ESC in securing its legitimacy before the Rodarian people.

Speaking the crowd, State President Codreanu covered many issues on the minds of ordinary Rodarians. Again he stated the Papal Republic's disgust at the actions of the Itailian government in response to the Red Christmas massacre and the general attitude and actions of the Central Defence Initiative.

"Still, we see a stubborn and vile rhetoric from Itailia. Still they put forward this mad notion of a Catholic individual supporting the Pagan murderers who killed half a million innocent Catholics, never before has Christendom been insulted, and it still is with the arrogant actions of the CDI, it would seem to me and to all god fearing and loyal Catholics, that the CDI's silence and inaction over the genocide of Christians, would mean one thing and one thing only, that they support the mass murder of Catholics, therefore they are equally guilty as the Itailian murderers in government", the crowd roared out in anger, many thousands began to chant "death to Itailia" and "down with the CDI".

"What do we see, we see the CDI's puppets speaking out in support of the genocidal regime in Ebonaevron, Arthurista and it's promistuous Prime Minister and New Belhavia and it's misplaced loyalties, unfortunate but predictable of a Jewish state, such as itself. Leaching off the profits of trade with the broken soul of the CDI states, such is a dark time for all of Christendom, abandoned by those who live by codes of freedom of religion, freedom of association, what hypocracy" the State President continued, his statement was supported by raptorous applause and cheer from the crowd.

"But to face, such a foe, we must first clense ourselves of faults. The first and most damaging fault is that of corruption, and dear friends we; as a nation is plagued with corruption. I therefore announce that the Ecclesiastical Security Commission, will lead a nationwide anti-corruption campaign, that will strike down the criminals, be they ravens or worms. We will show no mercy, to those who abuse trust and the mandate given by God almighty and the mighty people of this country to govern, to lead and to protect. We will strike these people dumb and take back what was stolen, we will find these corrupted sinners and we will punish them for their crimes against the great people of the Kingdom of God, you my friends" the State President said.

The State President also in his rally, announced new plans to repair the dependency culture that is developing in the country. He stated that over the past 30 years, the elected body had pandered to the poor, with the use of an extensive social welfare programme, that costs the country trillions every year.

"This government, will by next week, work to introduce a new policy aimed at repairing the damage caused by the egotiscial elected body, the damage it has caused by the rise of the dependency culture, emerging from the introduction of our extensive social welfare programme. As of next week, we aim to reward hard work, not hard earned wills. We will decrease income tax by 10% to 12%, yet we will increase inherentence tax by 15% to 35%, it is important that those who work hard, get their money's worth from their labour. It is important that we make sure that those born into wealth, do not become idle and wait for their parents to pass on, just to recieve their family's wealth through inheretence. We will also completely abolish job seeker's allowance, for idleness is the devil's workshop and we will not allow the people of this country to be lazy, bone idle and differently motivated" the State President went on to say, the complete abolishment of Job Seeker's Allowance has caused fury on social networking sites, but this was quickly abated, by the announcement of a new system, which offers unemployed 150 leu a week, for six months. It is demanded that the unemployed take whatever job is possible within those six months, despite of the unemployed person's thoughts or feelings towards that job.

It was also announced in a press statement by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Internal Development, that state housing will now be sold to their inhabitants at it's value price and no longer the tennant's income. Unless there is mitigating circumstances, that the family is led by a disabled breadwinner, or the breadwinner is disabled and cared for by their child or children.

The true extent of the Anti-Corruption Campaign will become clear in the coming weeks, however what is to be seen, is whether the campaign damages the government or secures its support for a long period of time.

Jacen Gray, Corporate Scion and Conservative Rising Star, Launches Freeport Senate Bid

FREEPORT, New Belhavia — After two years of insider speculation, behind-the-scenes posturing, and building a proper ground game, Jacen Gray, the current Deputy Foreign Minister for Allied Affairs and son of corporate mogul Harold Gray of Gray Industries & Oil Consortium, officially kicked off his high-profile campaign to win the open Imperial Senate seat in the northern, coastal Freeport province.

The twenty-nine-year old senior diplomat has set his eyes on the open Freeport Imperial Senate seat since incumbent Lib Dem Senator Frank Hulson announced his retirement in December 2012 at the end of his term. Conservatives have been eying winning the seat for the last ten years as they've wrestled political control in the province from the Lib Dems through the infusion of more right-leaning voters into the province. Gray will resign as Deputy Foreign Minister for Allied Affairs next week.

Gray has the momentum of recent political history behind him: the marquee Senate race is a culmination of a decade-long rightward shift among key demographics within the prominent northern and coastal province. Freeport Province was formerly a Liberal Democratic Party bastion, going for the Lib Dem presidential nominee five out of the last seven elections since 1988. Until 1998, the province had the longest streak of sending Lib Dems to the Senate of any province.

However, population shifts, the opening of expanded military installations, and the political machine that arose around then-candidate Eli Goldman, moved Freeport from a Lib Dem stronghold to a swing province. Goldman won the province in 2008 when he ran for president, breaking a 20-year losing streak for Conservative nominees, and retained it by a healthy margin again in 2012. Goldman himself narrowly won a special Imperial Senate election in an upset in 1998, disrupting the Lib Dem virtual political monopoly. Since then, Conservatives have steadily won nearly all major province-wide offices and the legislature, ousting Rebecca Leibovik, the longtime Lib Dem Secretary of the Province, in 2010. Conservatives control all five statewide constitutional offices.

Hulson beat back two strong Conservative challengers in both 2006 and 2010, winning with 53% and 51%, respectively. Seeing the writing on the wall and barely eking out a narrow 2-point win in 2010, the vulnerable old-time Lib Dem chose to retire rather than face an election defeat in 2014, sources close to the outgoing Senator allege, suggesting that Hulson's stridently liberal views were souring in a different, more conservative Freeport electorate that has vastly more right-leaning voters then before the late 1990s, when Hulson would typically coast to easy re-elections in landslides with nominal opposition candidates.

Two Heavyweights Go Into the Arena

The Lib Dems have recruited a high-profile candidate of their own: former provincial governor Jack Haller. Haller, who left office in 2003 and was a popular two-term Lib Dem governor through much of the 1990s, is an adroit politician and master campaigner. He is currently the Government Affairs executive vice-president at telecommunications giant Imperial Information Technologies.

The former governor has already cleared the Lib Dem primary of any serious opponents. A longtime provincial Lib Dem campaign operative remarked that "Haller's bought up all the good [staffer] talent on our side of the aisle," adding, "he has a top-notch campaign team employed."

Calvern Jarskof, an important donor to the Freeport City Lib Dem political machine, confided that "Haller will have the local, provincial, and national dollars flowing into here...he'll have all the money he needs to stay competitive." This is in reaction to liberal concerns about Gray's financial heft from both his father and high-profile Conservative donors Empirewide. A pro-Gray SuperPAC - "Freeport Taxpayers First" - sprung up last spring and has raised nearly $15 million dollars - much of it from his father, Harold Gray, and his well-connected corporate peers. Gray's exploratory campaign committee cleared $1.2 million as of November 30th, 2013.

Haller raised $6.9 million since he announced his candidacy earlier in the fall. The Liberal Democratic Party National Committee has dropped nearly $3 million in funds for TV ads hammering Gray on his A.C.A. credentials, diverting much-need resources from other competitive races.

Polls Show Gray Hold a Steady, Narrow Lead

Since general election trial heats and other public polling was started in March 2013, both candidates have generally been within +/- 4 points of each other. Since August, Gray has been ahead in the last five of seven polls published.

"Gray's doing so well because he's from a prominent family," dismissed Haller campaign chief pollster Randy Blumenthal. "We are confident that we are in a good place, and the fact we haven't dropped below 43% with a lack of major spending suggests this race will be competitive, but that Jack [Haller] has plenty of room to win over undecideds."

"The voters of this great province already know that big-spending Jack Haller is too liberal for Freeport," shot Gray spokesman Jonathon Sadley in an email, "It's why Jacen [Gray] has been consistently ahead in all of the public polls. Our in-house surveys suggest that his lead is genuine and solid. This isn't Frank Hulson's Freeport anymore."

The last public poll by Hansen House Research show Gray leading Haller 46% - 43%. Gray won independents by 8 points, 45% - 37%. The poll surveyed 1563 likely Freeport voters, with a margin of error of +/- 5.2%.

(CCN) - The current political atmosphere in Pardes is enhanced with activity now that the proclamations of the Confederal Government expresses a willingness to intervene in Seukutan. Simultaneously, Rodar anti-CDI sentiment is evidently on the rise as the Ecclasiastical Security Commision (ESC)--the official new name of the Rodar regime--‘sharpens its knives’. Today words changed to deeds with Western military personnel conducting a joint military drill with their Belhavian counterparts on an uninhabited island near the Yoshiwa Island chain.

The Seukutii question lies dubious as a military intervention by Western Forces in “yet another Akkadiyan nation” is denounced by 60% of the Westerners in all seven states of the confederacy, according to the latest estimate of DWIA. Foreign criticism, notably from Tsantetsana, increases. Foreign minister Mitalref Lraga of the Hegemonic Union condoned the Ulthrannian invasion and condemned the Confederacy for what the foreign minister calls: An act of “warmongering”. The Confederal government has not voiced itself over the condemnation.

Furthermore the continuation of 'Lyzankyan troubles' as a result of increasing belligerence notably from Romula pressured the state of Torchland to come up with "defensive precautions". The Governor of Torchland, Liam Green, with the approval of the Torchlander Parliamentary Chambers, with the 9th Torchlander-Confederal Transition Act handing over the authority of the Torchlander Defense Force to its confederal umbrella, the Western Armed Forces and the commander-in-chief President Shalom. The defence of the state is now officially in the hands of the Confederal government.

The President stated that the Confederal Government; "will do what is necessary to cooperate with its allies in achieving a common goal". New Belhavia, which has a 'special relationship' with the Confederacy, unquestionably falls in the category. Three days ago the Belhavian Foreign Ministry, slammed Rodarian remarks as "Anti-Semitic" and "Provocative". A notion shared by plenty of Western Politicians across Pardes with the exception of Talibastain and the State of Torchland.

Profound negotiations between the Belhavian and Western delegations kicked off a combined Field Training Exercise (FTX) on the Harakona Island some 500 miles south of Yoshiwa City. The FTX has been named "Koyekh" (Strength) and will most likely last for approximately 15 days. Today two companies of the Western- and Belhavian army, respectively, conducted ground manoeuvres on the Island.

The primary purpose of the FTX is to demonstrate Western-Belhavian military resolve to deter war in the Central Ocean and to improve the combined and joint operational posture of said forces. Speculation if making these joint exercises annual is on the table with unverified sources claiming this is to be expected in a very short period of time.

State President declares Axis of Resistance

State President Ionatan Codreanu has declared the existance of an Axis of Resistance against the Central Defence Initiative, this comes several days after a series of coordinated attacks by the Exercitus Christo in Southern Itailia against the Murderous Regime in Ebonaevron, according to the State President’s address to the Ecclesiastical Security Commission, the Axis of Resistance includes, the Papal Republic, Armavira, Exercitus Christo and Ulthrannia. The Axis of Resistance, the State President declared, was united in it’s ‘fight for freedom and security from the arrogance and aggressive hypocracy of the CDI’, the State President has announced non-lethal aid for the Exercitus Christo, and ‘any other group that aims to tear down the apostate heathens in Ebonaevron’. The State President also restated his and the ESC’s commitment to meeting off the CDI incursions into Rodarian airspace.

The State President addressed the ESC this morning, ahead of their first Address to the Assembly, in which they announce their plans policy wise and their decisions regarding the direction the country is taking. However, the State President took the opportunity to declare a momumental statement, which may well change the balance of events regarding the crisis in Southern Itailia. The ESC’s decision to send the Exercitus Christo non-lethal aid so soon, as sparked a worry within the Holy Assembly, that the ESC has stepped in too swiftly and maybe seen as a major escalation in an already tense situation with Itailia. However the State President explained, “The decision to support the Exercitus Christo with non-lethal aid, is to assit their efforts in assisting the Catholic civilian population, for when the Itailia government and it’s CDI masters unleash hell upon the province of Drakkar, eager to crush their efforts of freeing themselves from the spectre of genocide”.

The Ecclesiastical Security Commission members voted 16-1 in support of the State President’s request for non-lethal aid to the Exercitus Christo. He also announced, that he had a lengthy discussion with the Holy Father regarding the group’s status within the Christian Brotherhood Community, to which he also declared, “The Army of Christ in Itailia, is now the central pillar to our Christian Brotherhood, they are the golden ring upon the finger of God’s right hand, without them there would be no Papal Republic, they are not the vanguard of the defence of Christendom from Pagan extremism and CDI imperialism”.

The official document to be released to the Holy Assembly states that the EC will receive $50 million in non-lethal aid and the Catholic Humanitarian Relief Association (CHRA) will be free to donate funds to the Exercitus Christo and to deliver medial aid to it. It also states that the Christian Brotherhood Committee will also be free to assist in the formation of similar Catholic Associations in Nos Callis in Belfras and the State of Torchland within the Western Confederation.

The State President went on to say, “time is running out for Ebonaevron, its Catholic people are standing up and saying no to genocide, saying no to oppression, saying no to Pagan elitism and soon their lies over the true guilty party of the genocide will come to light and it will unleash a reckoning upon their heads”.

The Ecclesiastical Security Commission is expected to address the Holy Assembly on Thursday and will be a bi-monthly event.

Senior commentors have all agreed that the choice of an Axis of Resistance is a play on the Western government's Axis of Evil, but they also state, that the actors within it prove to be increadibly important to the CDI response to the declaration. The fact that the Exercitus Christo was declared to be a major pillar in the AoR, this could well be seen as a provocation by the CDI and Itailian government. The Ministry of Defence and Homeland Security denied reports that over 1,300 Orducii fighters are in southern Itailia, assisting the Exercitus Christo as it begins to rise up against the genocidal regime in Ebonaevron.

"Evidence of ongoing, massive surveillance program against Arthuristan catholics", says Freeleaks

Freeleaks.org, a self-proclaimed civil liberties advocacy group and one of Pardes's biggest leakers and whistle-blowers, has released what is, allegedly, a classified document outlining a government-sanctioned program of massed surveillance against Arthurista's catholic population.

The paper in question, which appears to be notes from a classified briefing given to the Parliamentary Intelligence Supervisory Committee last week, sets out a program which encompasses up to 10% of Arthurista's catholic population, a staggering 1.5 million people. Most of them have their e-mails, phone calls and texts intercepted and monitored by the Government Communications Centre (GCC). However, a large proportion of them, roughly one in every twenty, are being subjected to more intensive surveillance measures - phone taps, listening devices and physical tracking. Individuals deemed especially high risk, such as those linked to catholic organisations known for radical rhetorics, are to be tracked 24/7 by officers of the CSS, as well as the Special Branches of police departments in various Arthuristan cities.

Following the Temple of Athena bomb plot last week, which was narrowly averted following a major intelligence and police operation at Loweport, the government has been under increasing pressure to step up its counter-terrorist measures against extremist catholic groups, suspected to be linked to notorious organisations such as the Orducii and the Lord's Resistance Army. However, human rights organisations, as well as catholic groups, have expressed their horror and anger at the alleged surveillance program.

"This is completely unacceptable," said Mr David Phillips, barrister and in-house counsel for the civil liberties watchdog Libertas. Naval Forces Board a Seukuti Pirate Vessel Carrying Stolen Goods

Nouvo Stellaria, Livirica — On the steps of the People's Chamber, Prime Minister Aurelius Valerio De Aloisi spoke of the nation's newest maritime policy.

Following rising tensions in Seukutan, the large pirate fleets seen off the Seukutii coasts have begun targeting civilian vessels en masse. In response the Incorporated State of Livirica has issues an official statement, stating the Merchant Fleet of Livirica will be working with The Livrichi Naval and Maritime forces to combat the pirates and restore order to the seas.

In addition to combatting piracy, the Maritime Forces have issued a statement that they will be working alongside multiple humanitarian organizations from across Pardes to secure costal areas in Seukutan and establish relief camps for refugees and other victims of the archaic violence that is seen across Seukutan. Various satellite imagery along with mixed reports from various sources indicate that the Livrichi Navy and Maritime forces have mobilized and are beginning to sail East towards Seukutan in large groups. Images indicate that in contrast to regular destroyers and corvettes, the Livirchi navy seems to be utilizing it's small Submarine corps along with Anubis class Arsenal ships. Military and political commentators suspect that this force is not entirely to combat pirate vessels and may be seen as a defensive measure to protect the prospective costal camps.

The President's office in Agora offered no comment other than "The Incorporated States stand by the Livrichi Prime Minister in all of his decisions, we hope to further the aim of universal peace particularly in the war torn nation of Seukutan," however no extra-Livrichi forces have been mobilized.

The Pardesian based humanitarian group "Free the Infants" Along with "UniHelp" have stated their intentions to bring volunteers to the relief camps in order to help Seukutiis through this troublesome period. The one resource that the humanitarian force is lacking, however, is Italian/English to Arabic translators as the language barrier poses an extreme risk to both medical and security communications in the area, and thus the Humanitarian-Maritime administration is hiring translators for the duration of the relief mission.

UPDATE: A new report released by the Foreign Affairs Department states that a coalition against the pirates would be made to protect civilian vessels, under the name of the Merchant Flotilla Anti-Piracy Initiative [MFAPI] and is likely to make the brunt of the proposed OPA Anti-Piracy Fleet, currently it includes ships from The Livrichi Merchant Flotilla, The Livrichi Navy and The Livrichi Maritime forces. It is expected that New Belhevia, Anikatia and Arthurista will be contributing ships to the OPA's Naval initiative, along with the fact that High Kingdom of Orlessia has already pledged to support the OPA resolution .
