World War II also known as the Second World War was a global war that lasted from 1939 to 1945. It involved the vast majority of the world's nations—including all of the great powers—eventually forming two opposing military alliances: the Allies and the Axis. It was the most widespread war in history, with more than 100 million people, from more than 30 different countries, serving in military units. In a state of "total war", the major participants threw their entire economic, industrial, and scientific capabilities behind the war effort, erasing the distinction between civilian and military resources. Marked by mass deaths of civilians, including the Holocaust and the only use of nuclear weapons in warfare, it resulted in an estimated 50 million to 85 million fatalities. These made World War II the deadliest conflict in human history.

Welcome to the World at Arms RP. Here players can simulate the most destructive conflict in the history of the world. Players can play however they want; change history, wage total war, or work towards global domination. For balance purposes this RP will take place only in Europe. Non-European countries that participated in Europe like the United States, Canada, and Brazil are allowed. Non-European countries may be added later depending on how the IC thread goes.

A few things about this RP. Time will progress as the RP goes on, I decide when time progresses. The RP will start one month before World War II. After that Germany will invade Poland and France and Britain will declare war. Everything else is up to the players. As time passes countries will have access to the technology they developed throughout the war. Another thing to keep this RP interesting are random events. Random events are events I create that are added randomly to the IC. These events can range be diplomatic like coups and revolts, to militaristic like the development of new technology and tactics. Hopefully these random events will keep things interesting and will create a bit of an alternate history where things progressed slightly differently. New random events can be created by players and can be sent to me through TG.

Please try to keep this RP realistic. Some nations are stronger than others. Poland cannot conquer Germany all by itself and Hungary cannot capture Paris alone for example. Alliances and diplomacy are encouraged for smaller nations to help balance the game. No godmodding. Know when you are beaten and react realistically. I reserve the right to override players if i think their actions were to unrealistic. My word is final unless you can provide some pretty concrete sources to show that your move was possible. If you have any questions about the RP or your nation please contact me.

Alternate Versions of countries or players playing as fictional organizations are allowed as long as it's plausible. If you want to slightly alter your countries or play as a rebel group you can. Want to start out as a communist insurgency you can. Want to play as the Vichy French, or the French resistance, or the communist French resistance? You can. You can also play your country normally but then slowly turn them into something completely different.

Imperial City-States, and Marsisian are Co-ops second only to the OP. Reservations are not final until an app is accepted.

Infantry Division: 13,863 men per Division, a total of 10 from the regular army, 11 from the first-line territorial army, 12 from the second-line territorial army
Mobile Division: Two divisions, one in Egypt and one in Britain
Artillery: Composed of regiments, it has many different type of artillery in use. Most of these are vintage WWI artillery, though they will be updated in the coming year
Special Forces: These are in the process of being made. They are made of volunteers who go through extensive training. Use for reconnaissance and raiding. Sniper units, parachuting units, and more will be added.
Auxiliary Territorial Service: served non-combat roles to assist units
Home Guard: To be established in 1940, it will be a civilian draft unit(s) to protect the homeland.

Navy: A professional army of 200,000 men. It was lead by First Sea Lord, Admiral of the Fleet Sir Dudley Pound. It was the largest in the world at the time of 1939 with:
15 Battleships & battlecruisers, of which only two were post-World War 1. Five 'King George V' class battleships were building.
7 Aircraft carriers. One was new and five of the planned six fleet carriers were under construction. There were no escort carriers.
66 Cruisers, mainly post-World War 1 with some older ships converted for AA duties. Including cruiser-minelayers, 23 new ones had been laid down.
184 Destroyers of all types. Over half were modern, with 15 of the old 'V' and 'W' classes modified as escorts. Under construction or on order were 32 fleet destroyers and 20 escort types of the 'Hunt' class.
60 Submarines, mainly modern with nine building.
45 escort and patrol vessels with nine building, and the first 56 'Flower' class corvettes on order to add to the converted 'V' and 'W's' and 'Hunts'. However, there were few fast, long-endurance convoy escorts.

Air force: A professional air force with lots of men, it began growing its ranks in 1934. But 1939 it had 157 squadrons and 3.700 aircrafts.

Foreign Policy: British foreign policy is long and complicated. It boils down to protecting the homeland. It's colonies all across the world are used to help provide Britain with the imports it needs. It has a desire to maintain its world. Its policies are working in Canada, Australia, and New Zealand where the population is overly Anglo-saxon. It is struggling in India where Gandhi is leading peaceful protesting. It still holds onto Palestine but the Great Arab Revolt had just ended. It does not particularly care to see a rising Germany, though if its only plan is to develop a continental empire it might be okay with that. It fears for its allies and disapproves of the holocaust. It does not particularly like the communism in Russia but will work with them against Germany if it comes to it. It likes America but is worried about a rising America. It wants to maintain its empire.

Domestic Policy: British Domestic policy isn't incredibly difficult. Keynesian economic theory is the prevailing idea for such. It is currently conservative and believes in such ideals.

Slight Change in History approved by OP:
In 1919 the British split their mandates quite differently. By 1923 they were done and had created the mandate of Assyria, Mouzal, Baghdad, Iraq, Jordan, Judah, Palestine, and Jerusalem. Due to border tensions and cross-border travel as well as ethnic reasons, all of the mandates were granted a single cross-mandate citizenship. This would allow for people of one ethnicity to move to another one that is majority there's with ease.

Was one of the big three Axis powers that conquered several countries before and during World War II. They didn't do very well in the actual war, but that's up to you in this RP.

If we start at 1936 or something, I would right the abysmal communication network. If we start at 1939, I would rp with idiots at command, abysmal communications,et cetera.

Sorry but I feel the RP might not progress rapidly if we started earlier. Since you don't have to join the war right away you can take time to reorganize. You are the commander in chief after all.

But Austria was part of Germany. You could be a puppet state if you want.

You can't start out with much, but if you can work your way to the top then by all means go ahead. Accepted.

We're just starting out with Turkey as-is: no backwards altering of borders. I did give a slight boost to pre-WW II numbers of military, to reflect the militarized stance of the new government and likely some aid from the Italians and Germans during the National Socialist Revolution, but other than that we aren't the most impressive.
